  • The way I didn't understand a single word while reading the SM rework.😭

  • There isn't a single match where I decide to play them and not encounter a bug. ☹️

Agreed. I understand creating and maintaining a live service game like DbD can't be easy, but at the same time I just cannot fathom why it takes so long for weak perks to be buffed. And then when they do get buffed it's a 1 second number change...

Only 2 perk changes in a three month period is not good enough. There's a massive efficiency problem going on at BHVR.

(Also on an unrelated note, I'd like to extend an apology to you for being uncivil in a thread a few days back. I didn't approach the conversation well and I regret that.)

Exactly. It's so weird how the smallest change takes months. Some of the perks I listed don't even require a complex overhaul. Looking at how long it takes to see these mundane changes I can't imagine when the perks I listed will be worth running. I'm getting old.

(Likewise. I also felt guilty and even thought about sending a message to you but your profile was private. I apologize if I made you upset. Sometimes debates get heated but it's not worth it. I'm actually quite fond of your commentary and love your username.💗)

  • Singularity. It was the first time I didn't purchase a chapter through Steam but with Shards and I still regret it.

The scare factor vanishes automatically if you play long enough. I have 6.5k hrs, believe me, dbd is not scary anymore. Regardless of what you do.

Yeah unfortunately that's also true :(

  • In my opinion the game itself is less toxic than forums LOL.

    1) The frequent ragequitters should get matched with each other, so they don't ruin the games of the players that actually want to play every game. In my killer games, an early ragequit is pretty much a guaranteed loss for the survivors, even with the wallhack bots that BHVR created. One of the biggest gaps between solo and SWF is the fact that in a SWF, you're not getting games ruined by random teammates early ragequitting.

    2) Nerf the perks that encourage "lone wolf" strategies, like Wake up, Left Behind, Sole Survivor, and Low Profile. Another big gap between solo and SWF, is that in a SWF, all the players actually want to work as a team. In contrast, Lone Wolf survivors are perfectly happy lowering their team's survival rate, so they can personally survive the match. For Lone Wolf survivors, a 3k where they escape is far more important than a 1k where they lose the match... and these Lone Wolf survivors often lower the escape rate of their team, because they're not even trying to get all the generators repaired, and instead they just want to excessively hide until all the other survivors are dead. Maybe match "lone wolf" survivors with each other, so they can ruin each other's games.

    3) Yes, I think that survivors excessively hiding is problem in solo q, for survivors too. When I'm playing survivor, I shouldn't feel like I'm being punished for trying to repair generators, because my teammates are excessively hiding, and therefore the killer decided to tunnel me because they can't find anyone else. Excessively hiding can be fine for survivors in a SWF, where everyone is coordinated and all agree on the strategy. But excessively hiding is yet another solo q problem that encourages killers to tunnel the survivors that aren't excessively hiding.

    4) There really should some solution, so that survivors that actually want to win a game aren't getting matched with survivors that are fine with throwing the entire game for a Rift challenge. Yes; it is a big solo q issue, when only 3 survivors are actually trying to repair generators, because the 4th survivor is literally spending 5-10 minutes trying to find and cleanse all 5 totems for their Rift challenge. I have no idea how this idea should be implemented.

    5) I still, to this day, do not understand why the Myers instakill addons haven't been removed, considering how many times Pig got nerfed over and over and over, to make her headpop potential severely lower than before. And the instakill addons don't even work on survivors that know what they are doing, after the survivors figure out that Myers has an instakill addon. Yes, we know that we can jump in a locker, repeatedly vault a pallet, or repeatedly vault a window, to stop the instakill (and if it's the last generator, we might even just repair the generator right in front of the killer, to give us instakill immunity until the generator is 100% repaired). The whole Myers instakill mechanic is garbage, and should be removed.

    6) I think the matchmaking needs to stop having ridiculously lopsided matchmaking scenarios. There's zero reason that some of my killer games are against survivors that literally have zero idea how to play against my killer. Does the game do this on purpose, so that players can take turns feeling like they played awesome, and really feel like they stomped all over their opponents? Or is this happening because my survivor queues are so long that BHVR is just throwing survivors in any game possible, instead of waiting for a good match? I know people like to blame lobby dodging for this issue, but I really don't think this problem is 100% the fault of lobby dodging.

    7) I think there should be some in game solution, that makes it much easier for solo q survivors to find other players to SWF with. Maybe a better friends list solution, better ways to chat with each other outside of games, and yes, add in game voice chat specifically for SWFs, so PC players can easily voice chat with console players (or console players can easily voice chat with players on a different console), because many console players don't have Discord properly set up to work with their console. To be super clear, solo q should never get in game voice chat, because random solo q survivors can be VERY AWFUL in voice chat to their teammates.

Thank you so much for answering even though I asked if you could do something off-topic, I really appreciate it. I honestly agree with everything you said and I see your points. I think sometimes the forum just shows one side of the story and it's hard to get a full picture of other players.

It really means a lot that you actually took time to share that with me. Even though sometimes debates get heated there's value to what everyone is saying. I hope I never made you upset in any way!🤞

So then you nerf them and make them even HARDER for people to try and learn to play. Many many players will play a game of blight, get bullied, never land any hits, and never touch him again.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3544325#Comment_3544325

“Nothing survivors can do” is farrrr from true. Most survivors just lack the skill/knowledge to counter him. And it’s not “players”. It’s one dude, and I would argue it was less of a showcase of blight, and more so hard tunneling at 5 gens. Not to mention a majority of the games were won during the gen kick meta.

It's so funny how some people act like playing Nurse or Blight is some task that requires godly skills or talent. If you have any experience playing video games you'll get the hang of them after a few tries. If you've never played a game in your entire life you might struggle for a while but it's not that difficult. I don't understand the notion of "Nurse/Blight is so hard they can be as OP as they wish." It's silly.

  • @Interocitor said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3544316#Comment_3544316

On nightlight Nurse's current killrate is 56.45% while Blight is 51.89%. I don't think BHVR has released any stats on kill rates recently so these are the only stats available and Nurse has a higher kill rate.

Still kill-rates aren't an accurate representation of how strong the killer is. So we can't say "Blight's kill-rate is %52~ which means he's perfectly balanced and there's nothing wrong with him!"

    image.png

By that logic we would say "Look at these kill-rates. Myers and Wraith are as strong as Nurse!" which is untrue.

  • @Vorahk08 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3544306#Comment_3544306

I can confirm this. He's currently at a 51.89% killrate on Nightlight, which seems to place him solidly in the middle of the list when ordered by kill rate. Almost half of his kill distribution is either a 4K or nothing at all. I think most people mainly remember the Blights who beat them.

So what? Nurse also had and still has a lower kill-rate. It didn't mean she wasn't extremely powerful and didn't need any changes. Flawed argument.

In fact this was the mistake BHVR used to make notoriously. They would look at Nurse's kill-rates and say "Well according to the kill-rates she isn't over-performing so we don't have to nerf her." And what did that lead to? Years of unbalance and suffering.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3544271#Comment_3544271

Anything that makes a killer weaker is a nerf. It doesn't matter why the changes were made.

You're confusing cause and effect. If a bug fix occurs, that is the CAUSE of the change, and a nerf is the EFFECT of the change. Things can be nerfs and bugfixes at the same time.

And besides, if you want to get unnecessarily picky about words, I could just say Blight was made weaker 5 times. Yes, BHVR has made Blight weaker multiple times, so we shouldn't pretend that Blight has remained the same power level that he had before all the the changes that made Blight weaker.

And if we really really want to get picky, you do realize that some of these changes weren't in the bug fix section of the official DBD patch notes, right? For example, the large turn angle nerf was in the Balance section of the official patch notes, so you can't even call it a bug fix with your definition of "bug fix"

@Coffeecrashing I have a challenge for you and I know this is going to challenge you so much. Even if it's off-topic I want to hear your answer because I want to think your commentary is valuable.

Is there anything you would add to this game or change about it that would be considered a "buff" to survivors and a "nerf" to killers? It can be anything and everything. I'm really curious about your answer. Because whenever I read your comments it's extremely one-sided that it comes across very perplexing after a while.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3544255#Comment_3544255

    The nerfs actually happened though....

    1) Blight got a nerf that prevented him from being able to turn 180 degrees in 1 frame.

    2) Then Blight got a nerf to DPI scaling.

    3) Then Blight got a 3rd nerf, that flat out nerfed the large turning angle, which means that after 90 degrees, the turn angle gets literally capped to a slow speed for a short time.

    4) Blight used to be able to slide on just about everything by looking at the ground. There's videos showing this. BHVR later nerfed the "looking at the ground" mechanic of the secondary collision system, so that it gets stuck on a lot more stuff than it used to.

    5) Maps really did used to mostly be vertical smooth objects at 90 degree angles. There are videos showing this too.

    All these things literally happened.

Do you think those were intended things? DPI scaling, 180 degree turn in 1 frame, no-cap turns... Those are fixes not nerfs.

  • De-pipping is outdated and most of the time out of your control. Your performance in game doesn't matter if you get baby teammates or a killer that decides to facecamp/tunnel you out. But you're the one getting punished for it. Remove de-pipping PERIOD.

  • @Xernoton said:

That doesn't change anything. You made an argument, that you just have to play perfect and then everything is fine.

If we can expect the killer to do that, then we can also expect the survivors to do the same (otherwise => double standard). And at that point, the tail attack shouldn't really matter all that much as they are going to take it away using turrets. Or they are so good that they can ignore it.

No matter how you look at it, hitting the tail every single time isn't realistic. And when the speed penalty is this severe, then there is little reason why anyone would try and learn this killer, when they could just invest that time into a stronger killer, that gets better results across the boards. I mean, look at Hillbilly for example. You have some dedicated mains and a few people that try him once or twice before they get frustrated and nothing in between. Singularity has the same issue.

Yeah I get your point, you're right. I still think some reactions to the penalty change are exaggerated and extreme though. You would think they reworked his entire power and made him useless or something reading some of these comments. I still play him actively without any issues and prefer him over a bunch of other killers because he has a lot to offer.

Now post a clip of an invisible hitbox hitting a perfectly aligned hit and Xeno losing 3 miles of distance because of it, or the tail attack phasing through a survivor entirely because they were at point blank range and the hitbox seems to lose all coherence at that range.

You still didn't tell us what other killers belong in your C-tier list because you know it's going to sound funny having Xeno next to them.👀

⭐️~Nurse and Blight aren't that big of a deal, if you play perfect.~⭐️

Hm. Sounds pretty stupid, don't you think? But your argument is basically the same. "Just play perfect. Don't make any mistakes and play against survivors that don't even try to dodge."

I don't know, man. This doesn't seem reasonable to me. Because if you turned it around and made: "Just don't get hit." out of it, then you could even defend Xeno's bugged state. Which we all agree on was stupid. Let's be realistic here.

It's way easier to make mistakes playing Nurse or Blight than Xeno. Their difficulty range and skill ceiling are incomparable.

NOED too? Even though the Survivor is unaware they are exposed until the first one goes down?

Since the survivor is already exposed according to the game and just not aware of it I assume the first NOED hit would also count as one. (but I never trust dbd coding lol)

  • Yes. Any killer with a "exposed power" like that works for these challenges (Myers/Ghostface/...).

And why not use Calm Spirit? This is exactly what a living (not set in stone) meta is: new stuff becomes strong and gets regularly encountered, thus customising options that were subpar before become a counter and edge into the meta. Its a give and take that should keep things theoretically moving, but in DBD a lot of players seem to be adverse to the idea of not using the strongest possible build and hate the idea to divert one spot on the perk loadout to counter or deal with a meta choice that the other side most likely will employ... maybe not every match, but he majority. I think its this "I want value each match from mu perks, otherwise its subpar/uncool/unfun" thinking, that drives a lot of push towards nerfs instead of adapting the loadout.

Of course, some perks are indeed busted and in need of a change, and Ultimate Weapon is really, really strong, but it also gets 100% countered by a perk that's not meta right now.

When survivors started playing a lot of Adrenalin after the medkit nerf I started to make room for Terminus, a subpar perk in most cases, but in the Adrenalin meta it saved the day and pulled its weight exceptionally. During the DH meta there were all kind of builds that tried to counter it, it was just that oppressive (Septic Touch to Hysteria and Blood Echos ... here were all kind of builds just to counter DH). And now with MFT to prevalent I see myself using that +5% speed perk from the Alien more and more. I just wished that it got a bit more uptime, 10s is really a very short window, BUT it's often enough to punish cheeky MFT users and I have it equipped on a lot of killers.

Terminus, Repid Brutality, Ultimate Weapon and STBFL or DMS seems to be rather meta on my side, a far cry from the PainRes/Eruption/Pop/NowhereToHide kick meta.

It would be so but calm spirit doesn't counter it. You still see the notifications of their location, the survivor just doesn't scream. :) Nothing counters this perk.

  • ⭐️~If you don't miss, you don't get penalized~⭐️

    ezgif-2-f99e9646d3.gif
  • I'm abusing the hell out of this perk right now and feel so bad.🙈 Nothing counters it and I know where everyone is at all times. Calm spirit doesn't work against it I still see bubbles, lockers don't work against it, distortion doesn't work against it. I just open lockers and know where to go next. I'm on autopilot.

  • @Xernoton said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3543445#Comment_3543445

There have been more than a few posts that said they wanted some buffs to the tail attack. Bigger hitboxes where the most common but since that didn't come, making the cooldown less punishing was the next best thing. So that's not quite true.

I wouldn't go as far to say Xeno is C-tier but it's obvious that with the fixed cooldown and the nerf on top of it, Xeno is a lot weaker than before. The worst part is, that there was no indication that 2 m/s was too much because we never saw it work properly. So there weren't any valid complaints about that either.

Nobody asks for the bugged cooldown to return but the devs were comfortable increasing the speed to 2 m/s. Why not test it first? Because 1.2 m/s feels pretty bad and with how easy it is to miss a tail attack, I see killers playing more M1 killer than using the actual power in the future. Which doesn't make much sense, when the anti-loop should be so oppressive, that survivors use turrets to give themselves an edge.

But when the tail attack is so punishing, that playing M1 killer is the better choice, then this becomes obsolete. Which in turn removes the slowdown, that these turrets provided.

I guess you can push it off as a skill issue but that would put Xeno in a position similar to Singularity. A killer that can be good, as long as you are incredibly good with them. And at that point, why not play Blight and get better results? It is not very encouraging to try and learn a new killer and get punished every step of the way, only to get mediocre results when you do become better.

Yeah. This does make sense. Since the 2m/s wasn't applying properly we didn't even get to see if it was enough of a penalty for missing your attack. It would make more sense to fix that bug first before making number adjustments.👍️

xeno was roughly average. they gave xeno a buff to make turrets less effective. this gave opportunity for xeno to be a stronger killer if the killer player was competent. since then, they have reverted change so turrets are effective. xeno is not garbage because... it is not like survivor have 7 turrets with no cooldown's but at same time, the effectiveness of tunnels, stealth and tail strike are mildly less effective.

But why does any of that matter when this is the only thing they "nerfed"? He's literally the same killer. I don't see how he sucks now that he has a penalty for missing his attack... like any other killer in the roster.

It was also an odd choice for BHVR to buff something nobody had a problem with (even more so when that thing caused issues with multiple killers), but it's even weirder for killers to pretend like Xeno is suddenly terrible when this was such a non-issue killers complained about this being buffed instead of Xeno's add-ons.

The funny thing is if you don't miss your attacks this "nerf" literally means nothing LOL but people will refuse to see it.🤭

  • Can you please tell me what type of killers are in your C-tier list?

  • So let me get this straight... Xeno was considered very good during PTB somewhere like A-tier. Then they buffed an aspect of him that nobody complained about. Then two weeks later they reverted that to the same values as PTB and now he is C-tier?🤭

No one even looks at preistege in end game plus since you literally get NOTHING for getting p100 you get literally nothing after p9. Survivors seeing survivors priestege in pre game is all you have removing that will just make every p100 furious

Do you know how many people regret leveling their favorite characters to P100? This is a highly-requested feature by the community to combat lobby-dodging and harassment. survivors move at 4m per second (0.004m per milisecond), if you react in the average human time (0.250 for visual, 0.170 for audio) You'll be left with either :

    0.600 - 0.250 = 0.350

    0.600 - 0.170 = 0.430

    0.004m x 0.350s = 1.4 meters of dodge range for visual

    0.004m x 0.430 = 1.72 meters of dodge range for audio

Dodging the tail is very well feasible even by the most average of a person.

for visualization purposes , if Im not mistaken the width of a DBD pallet is around 0.6m - 0.8m so thats enough distance to run across atleast 2 pallets.

    ----

The mere existance DH on reaction to M1 is enough of a proof of concept that people can react to an attack with a longer time to hit.

Yes because exhausted on the ground wasn't a meme and dead hard always worked so consistently every time you pressed it! /s

    1+1= 2

I'm telling you that it takes time to move to dodge, which also depends on whether the killer offset their attack in anticipation. for the record i'm fine with it not being reactable, i'm just being honest about it. Like I said: how about trying to work around the perk for some time before complaining?

Well it's a game forum so anyone is free to complain and express their opinions.

We can agree to disagree on this topic I guess! ✌️💕

Yes but Kindred reveals the killer aura when near the hook, that survivors can potentially play around if they want to get the survivor free. UW revealing and blinding survivors means, not only does the amper know when and where survivors are coming, they are Blinded too, so can't even have a decent chance of outplayed the killer.

I get the point, but this "hiding in locker" is not helping with this issue, why do you still want it for the active killer who runs around?

Yeah global notification, so people not immediately in the terror radius have a chance to hide.

Totaly disagree with this. In my opinion there should be no way to hide. In my opinion "off the record" and "distortion" are harming this game. Because they make "finding" perks, counterable. And do you know whats not counterable? Slowdown perks. We allready had the meta where killers played with 3 slowdown perks and took the game until forever and i did not like it.

Its very easy as worser "finding" perks are, as lesser people are gonna play em.

Removing hiding from a game whose foundation was built on hide and seek and saying it harms the game... That is kind of out of touch. It's suppose to be a horror game. Not everybody wants to be a 5 gen looping e-sports legend. Nor do they have the time to.

  • Omg please be good and not totally broken.🙏🏻

That was the same back in the day when more aura perks were implemented (Distortion was niche use and bad) or when Infectious got added (people thought that it promotes slugging). All were complaining about it but all died down eventually.

I am sick of people who just complain about everything first and don't try to deal with it themselves.

The only time you loose when the killer has this perk is if you are the last survivor and you need to open an exit gate. But so are Tapper, SM, Artist, Knight or the perk NWO.

If the killer chars someone when they have UW they are occupied. If they swap targets then the person who was chased cen get the unhook as they already screamed.

And yes, even if Calm Spirit is "bad" it is a viable counter against anything that makes you scream. Not only UW, but also Eruption, IF, (Jolt), SH:PR and Doc.

I can be sick of certain things too but my feelings or emotions don't change the fact that some people might have valid points or concerns about things on here.

  • They just reverted his miss-hit movement penalty to how it was on PTB. For some reason they buffed it before making it to live which was a buff nobody asked for and nobody complained about his movement during PTB. There was no punishment for missing your special attack which all other killers have in some form.

i think the perk is released like this because of anti-camping measures. The perk is definitely strong tracking tool as it allows you to locate all 4 survivors by walking around but i am not entirely sure if tracking is can ever be considered unfair.

Why should I run any other tracking perk instead of Ultimate Weapon now though? It does everything and better.

+can trigger it quickly with a locker don't have to accomplish anything

+the perk follows your radius around and keeps applying

+activation window is so long you almost always get all 4 survivors to scream

+applies blindness for a long time which counters perks like woo/bond

+works even if survivor is hiding in a locker which is very inconsistent with other perk designs

+it's too oppressive on killers like nurse who can just teleport to a location

+it completely eliminates the stealth playstyle since killer can find out where you are whenever they please

+"bring calm spirit" isn't a valid argument dbd isn't a counterpick card game

+cooldown is irrelevantly low so it usually leads to slugfests

    +distortion doesn't counter it

+its like playing doctor without actually having to play doctor
