Because Spies from the Shadow doesn't reveal your exact location like UW does...?
-
+can trigger it quickly with a locker don't have to accomplish anything
+the perk follows your radius around and keeps applying
+activation window is so long you almost always get all 4 survivors to scream
+applies blindness for a long time which counters perks like woo/bond
+works even if survivor is hiding in a locker which is very inconsistent with other perk designs
+it's too oppressive on killers like nurse who can just teleport to a location
+it completely eliminates the stealth playstyle since killer can find out where you are whenever they please
+"bring calm spirit" isn't a valid argument dbd isn't a counterpick card game
+cooldown is irrelevantly low so it usually leads to slugfests
+constant screams are loud, annoying and over-stimulating
+its like playing doctor without actually having to play doctor

Can you share a screenshot that shows you having 20k play-time on DbD? Just curious.

Last time I made a discussion about a potential Calm Spirit buff it ended up with some killer asking for a Calm Spirit nerf so good luck.π This was the idea I had:

The 30 percent speed reduction to actions isn't justified, the perk doesn't do anything spectacular. There are much stronger perks in the game without any drawbacks. Plus when you open a chest or cleanse/bless a totem it makes a very audible noise at the end anyways so it doesn't even do much.
Maybe removing the unnecessary speed reduction and making those interactions completely silent can help this perk.
-
I don't wait much on queue granted I always play the side that has the BP bonus so that might be helping my case.
-
"We canβt talk about this right now but it might happen eventually!"

Maybe if you spent less time lobby-shopping and more time playing the actual game you would get better at it.
Also, no. Those people won't magically perform any different if they choose to play on their P3 characters.

This person keeps ruining the game for others and he just keeps getting away with it.

My p100 pig takes you any time.
and that's why I love you.
-
If I show up with my P100 in lobby I always have to wait for about 5~ killers to lobby-dodge. During this sometimes other survivors get tired of waiting with me and leave the lobby too which causes a bigger mess LOL. Also if there's another high-prestige survivor the wait time is even longer.
-
Yeah. Teamwork perks are a failed concept. They don't do anything special and have unjustified massive cooldowns. I welcome any change to make them more fun or realistic to use.
-
The bots are such a hindrance I swear. They keep missing skillchecks, give up on hook and they're in a constant state of dilemma about what to do that they end up doing nothing.
-
This is more of an emotional response than a factual one. Trust me you'll survive. The same happened with ranks years ago and nobody cared.
-
So interesting how those opposing this change are always killer mains who aren't even affected by the harassment and lobby-dodging survivors have to deal with. Survivors can't see your prestige in lobby but all of a sudden it's a big deal now that you can't see theirs...?

I feel bad for survivors that misuse turrets then start campaigns to whine and get the game changed needlessly again.
Is it realistic I haven't gone against a single survivor who doesn't use turrets properly? Can you explain what the proper use for turrets are? As far as I can see there isn't much complexity but to grab and set them up. The only factor relevant is where you place them. Most survivors I went against place them around gens or close to my tunnels.

Rewarding behavior that's positive, or that's moving in a positive direction, is far more powerful than punishment. You can read that in basicly every psychological study.
I dindt read something about a "anti-camping mechanic" how will it look like and when its gonna be implemented? Can you maybe link something? Sounds very interesting
It was revealed and discussed officially on the 7th Anniversary stream and the upcoming roadmap. Since it's a long video I can't pinpoint where it was discussed but I recommend watching if you want to learn more.

Omg hi Richard! Welcome! This post is super cute. Thank you for taking time to introduce yourself to the community!

This has been a highly-requested feature to combat lobby-dodging and in-game harassment and now they're trying stuff out to gather feedback and data.
As mentioned on Reddit AMA - June 7, 2023.

Xeno's miss cooldown is 3 seconds and he moves at 2m/s during it.
Demo's miss cooldown is 2.25 seconds and he moves 1.15m/s during it
why are people acting like Xeno doesn't have a cooldown at all?
This suppose to be a cooldown?
-
@Crowman said:
No.
Xeno isn't even as strong as people make him out to be. Too many people refuse to learn how to use turrets and automatically dismiss them as being useless and then wonder why xeno is running around unchecked.
As for the tunnels, they are in static locations that you have to manually walk up to and spend a total of 3 seconds entering and exiting plus whatever travel time. Dredge, Sadako, Freddy all have a cooldown, because they can teleport from anywhere on the map. Demo can too if he has a spare portal.
Xeno is fun to play, because he's not bogged down with unnecessary cooldowns or restrictions. On the other side, I've had plently of 3/4 man escapes against xenomorph playing solo queue. The people crying the most over xenomorph simply aren't interested in trying to be better at the game.
The thing is I'm not going off of what "people make him out to be". This is my experience playing as him and not against him.
I'm just able to admit that I feel unstoppable when playing Xeno which isn't a feeling I get when playing most killers since most have some type of penalty if you fail using your power correctly and no, turrets aren't really a counter or a handicap, they're just a few seconds of inconvenience in my experience.
Again I don't feel too strongly about this to the point of "this deserves a nerf!". I enjoy the killer but I can also admit he's very advantageous compared to other killers and there is a lot of BS I can get away with when playing Xeno.
-
Also why are we rewarding people for playing the game the way it was intended? It's like paying people a monthly salary for each month they didn't commit a crime LOL.

How about -30sec when you are outside of 24m and +30sec when you are inside?
With the upcoming anti-camping mechanic you'll be punished for camping and if you don't camp you won't be affected by it. That'll be your reward. ;)

How i said i would be open to 32m instead of 24 since its basekit. I guess you dont need Reassurance if the killer is more as 32m away. Normaly you need Reassurance against camping and not against "the killer is far away".
So i dont understand your point why you need Reassurance if the killer is more than 32m away (to benefit from the change).
The evil thing on basement hook are that they are campable but if you camp them the effect wont be activated anyway.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3535370#Comment_3535370
Im not sure how the killer beeing far away from the hook would "nerf soloq" can you please explain?
Hook timer running out faster by default? Stricter time and planning for people who don't have a verbal communication? You don't have to think longer than 3 seconds to figure out how this makes already-miserable solo experience even more frustrating.
-
Can human eye even see 240 frames per-second? Damn either it's placebo or y'all are supernaturals or something.
P.s. uncapped FPS just uses unnecessary amount of power + overheating + shortening your GPU's lifespan etc. which isn't worth it for a game that has DbD's level of graphics LOL.
-
Yes, let's nerf soloq even more!
-
Cheaters aren't as widespread in DbD as they're in TCM but I know somebody here is going to claim they go against cheaters in DbD every match.π€

Nothing in my post stated anything apocalyptic was occurring. I've simply noticed way more one sided matches, with me the one being outclassed, since they've started messing with this mechanic. Sure, I could keep playing, if that's what you mean by survive. But it ain't fun, and I'm not the only one who thinks so. My point is which is the lesser evil, which drives away more players... Catering to those who want to shave a few minutes off of a wait time? Then expect those of us who are mostly frustrated with the game to lose interest.
An image above players' heads being invisible or not has nothing to do with why or when you get matched with them. You were still going to end up in that lobby regardless. Prestige doesn't effect MMR.
-
@bravo37 said:
If matchmaking is such that is so disproportionate in player skill that says something about a declining player base, so hiding the fact that you either have a problem with new player numbers or departing seasoned ones or mid level ones walking away from it, I dont believe this is the fix to your problem.
I'm relatively new, started slightly before que times were terrible in my limited experience, a few months before the 7 year anniversary, so I'm not what you'd call good at the game by any stretch. During the first few months of playing the game was engaging, as a killer, and I found the matches to be rather close. As a survivor, random teams seemed 50/50 whether I'd get some sandbags or players that didnt even know how to use perks yet, or we'd get your random p100, so thats always been just a mixed bag it seems, but for the most part I don't seem to recall being utterly outclassed by a killer before this either playing survivor.
Lately I've had nothing but survivors with the ability to endlessly loop, gen rush, and whether they are random or a group of friends out to troll completely one side a match to where I'm close to hanging up the game altogether. I'd say the not very fun matches I've had in the past week or so are 3 to 1 in ratio. I don't play games to be frustrated, so this newly implemented feature makes it fun for your veteran players. Not players like me.
You're absolutely right at this point I'd lobby shop. As a guy who's trying to develop skill and learn the game, I don't find an environment where I'm completely dominated for most matches conducive to learning and enjoying the game.
I'm sure all the higher level players who are doing the destroying of killers or high ranked killers who are getting a group of babies are absolutely loving the idea.
I'm certain if you look at the data you'll see their ranking going up steadily as newer players like me stagnate or get worse.
This is not a welcome change, as I absolutely would leave a lobby after waiting 5/10 mins to join up with a group of level 50+ flashlight holding survivors.
You as a developer need to find some way to either retain a player base or be more inviting to newer ones. Not put a bandaid on the problem by masking a disproportionate skill level in matchmaking.
From the player perspective, if you're enjoying the total domination of lesser skilled players as a skilled and seasoned one, especially due to this change... well I don't see how that's that's very fun at all.
If you're wondering why a killer would go sit in the basement and wait out the time after being flash-banged, permablinded, head-on at every locker, pallet stunned at every corner, and has gotten perhaps 2 hooks in 4 gens, this is why. This cannot be an engaging experience for them either.
Seems to me this speaks to a real problem of a good game hemorrhaging players and not gaining new ones, so my suggestion is focus on how to compete with that rather than just masking it with the inability to see how one sided match ups have become lately.
We literally had RANKS visible for a long time until they decided to make them hidden and nothing apocalyptic happened. Trust me, you'll survive.

Nurse is not OP
I see many people with a severe case of skill issues complaining about nurse being OP. You just need to dodge their blinks, if you dodge their blinks or you never get found, nurse is the worst killer in the game, she gets completely countered
Just never get found guys! Simply ignore lethal, bbq and the other dozen aura revealing perks Nurses commonly use!
Dodge one blink = You won! Completely countered as she can't blink more than once.
Jokes aside this is one of the funniest takes I've seen here LOL.

Survivor mains complaining about the only basekit buff that killers got in the past 3 years, which is 10% shorter M1 cooldown to help weaker killers.
Survivor mains asking to nerf a perk that only weaker M1 killers benefit from.
If you nerf STBFL, you will see a lot more Nurses and Blights in your games.
Who said I'm asking for a nerf or that I'm not playing with this perk? Don't put words into my mouth. I'm just brave enough and not delusional to admit that it's too strong and kind of bs in some scenarios since 6.1.0.

No. If you didn't want to get lobby dodged you shouldn't have played so obsessively. Killers have a right to know that they are up against survivor mains who haven't touched grass in months.
Cool. As if the in-game harassment wasn't enough now I'm getting bullied on the forum over my prestige. Getting called obsessive and that I should touch grass. I hope everybody sees this comment cause this is only the friction of what people have to deal with over their prestige level.

In my opinion it's needed before the match so you can pick perks that have good synergy with your team mates and don't counter them even (for example, I'd never pick Overzealous or Inner Healing if I see a team mate with boons, and the other way around. Has happened to me a lot of times.) A loadout display tab should be cool too in-game (once the trial started) to make sure that the team mate that is on hook and getting camped for example is the one with Deliverance or not, and with so many other tactical movements.
Yeah I see your point and that's a really cool perspective. But I have a confession I'm skipping every Urban Evasion user I'm sorry your honor forgive me for my sins but yes I would do that. π
And any opportunity game forces me to not skip those people I'll take. ππ»
-
I would like this feature but only if the perks are displayed after you get in the match. Maybe alongside the details you see when you press ESC?
This way dodging others based on their perks wouldn't be a problem. If they decide to leave after loading in they already get a penalty.
Plus you wouldn't have to memorize who has what, you could just check in-game.

Tunneling is not an instant "I-win" button. A few posts above even you acknowledged that if an unskilled killer does it, he'll get destroyed.
For the record, the counterplay is body-blocking, saves, optimal timing for unhooks, running interference so killer loses the target, doing gens, using anti-tunnel perks. You may not save the mark from the sacrifice, but you can make it cost 3-4 gens.
I could turn around what you said, and claim getting tunneled is a skill-issue from the survivor team, but I wouldn't generalize like that. These things always boil down to the efficiency-difference of the two sides. But if survivors convince themselves that tunneling can't be played around, they set a boundary for themselves they won't be able to surpass.
I think you read someone else's comment regarding your first statement because I didn't say that.
Those things you've mentioned realistically don't happen in a regular match where survivors are a bunch of randoms with no communication. Bodyblocking doesn't make the tunneled survivor invincible. Down the bodyblocker and keep chasing the victim, even more pressure. Also what anti-tunnel perks? DS with a 3 second stun or OTR which is irrelevant if the killer tunnels you off hook? BFR.
I could also turn around what you said and claim tunneling is a skill-issue from the Killer. Why do they have to resort to this strategy instead of showcasing their skill? But I won't.π

I refuse to purchase linked cosmetics using Auric Cells.π Most linked cosmetics for original characters can easily be unlinked and separated without any issues (as proven by modders) but they just refuse to do it. So you're correct regarding that LOL. If they weren't linked they would be getting my money.

Isn't this true for every strong tool in dbd? We could say the same of Pinhead's Box, Sadako's Condemn, full-gen builds, Nurse as a whole, etc. This game is full of tools that destroy people who can't play around them, while only a minor inconvenience to those who can.
Tunneling is just another strong tool - the only difference seems to be that a notably high percentage of players seem to think that it's a strategy that should be eliminated / heavily nerfed instead of learning to play around it like we do with any other strong tool.
I think the difference is tunneling early on denies the survivor to play the game. Also there's no playing around tunneling unfortunately. If a killer wants to tunnel someone out of the game they'll be out of the game eventually unless the killer is a bot. The game is designed for the killer to catch up to the survivor at some point.
Still I'm not saying this "strategy" should be taken away from the killer but it shouldn't be the norm either.
-
I remember when playing Killer was in its easiest state and people were still claiming "tunneling is more necessary than ever"...
I understand tunneling to gain pressure when there aren't many gens left and you want to eliminate somebody asap as a strategy. But somehow hardcore-tunneling very early on became the norm now. I always expect the killer to do so and they never disappoint. Like sir we're still at 5 gens and I just want some bloodpoints...
And don't get me wrong I'm not telling anybody how they should play but it has become very predictable and boring.

It doesn't reveal people inside your Terror Radius, they specifically have to be farther than that as you move through them in order for them to be scream. If you activate it while someone is actually nearby then it does nothing, unlike Doctor's power which does exactly the opposite. Go through the effort to read a perk's description before going through the effort to make a whole post about it, please.
Syntax doesn't matter it'll trigger on those survivors regardless since the activation window is so long.
