I won't keep reporting each time but it happened again with the "Dedicated Server is not responding" message. 6hr penalty now... the problem has not been resolved at all for me.

That must be very frustrating. I don't see that error that often but servers are still pretty bad and obviously it's a DBD problem, again.

    image.png

I don't think we're collectively having a bad internet day in unison LOL... I was the Killer and had the bad ping icon too.

  • You fell for our trap! Free kitty pictures! This was all calculated.

  • Earth and this Drone having a stand-off.

I think the Earth rotates faster...🌎

  • Back to waiting in lobbies for 15 minutes...

  • OMG! Thank you for sharing this!

  • Sometimes even before it starts LOL... Servers aren't dedicated enough.

    image.png

    That was a close match!

  • The problem is that it looks like the survivors start the vaulting animation instantly in their original position (in air) instead of touching the vault location itself so by the time they make it to the other side they don't make any distance...

A-are you serious? Are we playing the same game? The game has so much safety nets for survivor that it's insane. Gens go extremely fast and the game constantly forgives you for making mistakes. On top of an event that has WAY better benefits for you. Meanwhile killer is constantly punished for playing well and continues to get more and more restrictions.

So they should stop fixing survivor bugs because you feel emotional about playing Killer?

I have always just ate the DS stun. 100% its more efficient to just get stunned and then hunt them down again, than to try to find a new person and hit them twice. That I should worry about a perk so much it makes me not take an opportunity when it happens is probably the same reason why NOED never made survivors want to cleanse bones too. Anything else wastes more time than not.

Old DS was too good and it hurt the game, made it stale and every match was the same. And you want that to return. LMAO.

You would need more than luck to convince bHVR of that.

Please read carefully what they wrote. They specifically said "reverting the timer nerf" and you missed it or didn't want to acknowledge it.

The only part of DS that hurt the game was before the Conspicious Action and End-Game Rules which allowed survivors to use it offensively. The stun time nerf was nothing but to make it less appealing so the pick-rate drops which only resulted in no real consequence for tunneling thus a major increase in tunneling to the point it became the norm.

  • Oh... it's over...

Now we wait for an additional bug fix till next month so it can be fixed again, just to be broken again with the following update after that.

  • The amount of pallets doesn't mean much. We need to see if they are all safe pallets or just meaningless filler pallets.

For example the reason The Game map is so annoying isn't because it has a lot of pallets but because most of those said pallets are all safe and there isn't much you can do but to break them each time.

So let's see how Borgo pallets are instead of jumping to a conclusion because of the number increase. Also 8 pallets was silly.

    Easy Math problems.

    unhook have 10s buff.

killer hit in 10s will chase 15s then hit again or kit in 10.1s down the survivor.

attack cooldown 2.7s pick up 3s.

Decisive Strike stun 3s, survivor can run 2s, 4.0m/s can leave killer 8m. or stun 5s survivor runaway 16m.

    8m killer need to case 6.25s 【 (8-4.25)/0.6=6.25 】, 16m need to case 19.58s. 【 (16-4.25)/0.6=19.58】to hit again

if survivor have mft it will be (8-2.25)/0.48=11.98 and (16-2.25)/0.48=28.65 to hit again.

    but survivor can DH.

1.8 runboost 2.7 cooldown no mft.

    2.7-1.8=0.9s

    0.9*4+1.8*6=14.4m

    2.7*1=2.7m

14.4-2.7=11.7m ←survivor during attack cooldown can make this Distance from the 1.7-4.25

    (11.7-4.25)/0.6=12.42s

    Total:

    min: killer hit in 10.1s+ no mft+ 3s DS+ no DH=10.1+6.25=16.35s

Max: killer hit in 9.9s+ mft+ 5s ds+DH=9.9+20.9(bloodlust will be 18)+28.65(blood lust will be 24)+12.42=64.32s

    +2.7 attack cool down+ 3s pickup + 0~10s move to hook+ 2s hook=82.02s +8s move to gen=90

2 survivor repair gen need 90/(0.85*2)=52.941s

1 survivor repair gen need 90s.

    so

now survivor have MFT+5s DS+DH+80 off record to force killer hit in Endurance

DBD isn't math and all those calculations mean nothing.

  • I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

It sucks when you go out of your way to "play nice" as Killer and still get those types of reactions.

Feels like a slap in the face.

  • I get that it can be an annoyance but the word "abuse" is too strong to describe this case, in my opinion.😕

  • I'm still traumatized... Kick and leave... No chase... Games would last 30 mins... Can't interact with anything cause of incapacitation... Hoh...

  • Nothing can rival the gen-kick era:

    FivrqibWQD8iwTv.png
  • Oh this is exciting...

I consent to be moried by Myers in every match for DBD's upcoming A/B testing.

I agree with you! Distortion does not need a huge nerf that it becomes useless (was never the point like some other suggest) and your suggestion or the suggestions from @Tatariu, @Coffeecrashing, @sizzlingmario4 or @Seraphor could be perfect. Like mention in my topic, I also agree that Distortion is good in SWF which is nice. And yes, Object should get a buff, it's a cool one but kinda outdated.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3569735#Comment_3569735

The issue is then that you have an active 1vs3 instead of a 1vs4, which is not good.

Yes, this is true and I don't deny it. However, just because there are other issues, does not mean we can't talk about other potencial problems. In addition, there are plenty of discussion that already talk about these other (bigger problems).

I've never mention that I hate Distortion. All I say is that Distortion is in my opinion an unhealthy perk for both sides. I also use other infoperks such as UW and GH, never said anything else but could made it clearer, tbf.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3569915#Comment_3569915

I've never said that I want nerf Distortion to the ground. It is true that Distortion is useless when the killer runs no auraperk but in my opinion the perk is unhealthy if the killer runs auraperks and this unhealthy aspect is bad for both sides.

I guess nearly everyone agrees with you that the death-on-hook-survivors must hide because a survivor that does little is better than a dead survivor. However, if we think that way, OTR would do this job much better.

I share this opinion with Simfeliz, @Quizzy

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3570028#Comment_3570028

"Easy first down" -> the start of the game is the hardest part for the killer because every pallet is up, the killer player does not know the layout for the map (g.e. where and how are the tiles, whats up with filler pallets and windows), and where exectly the survivors are. Lethal helps with this issue (like Corrupt does it by making the map temporaly smaller and force the survivors to either wait the two mintues out or to go to the killer).

You get my third point that Distortion players (not all of them, can only judge from my experiences) don't good at chase and miss the opportunity by using Distortion.

In the topic I've said that I love to run auraperks but I also run other information perks and due to this I relize the unhealthy issue in Disturtion. Of cause, other inforperks have their own drawback or have a bad design (g.e. Discordance is useless if the survivor play smart which is not to group up on generators, while Rancor is such an unhealthy perk too (you can instandly kill one survivor because the rng says you are the obssesion - but I get offtopic).

I've never said that every survivor perk should be gutted, that I play competitive, can't move on.

The thing is: I get it, Distortion counters your aura build... but this doesn't make Distortion "unhealthy" for the game.

The Plague just existing counters all healing perks and medkits but nobody is going to complain about her being unhealthy for the game or that she should be nerfed. There are so many perks, powers and builds that counter eachother in this game and each time you load up in a match it's a gamble. Sometimes it's just best to accept this and move on. Especially when Distortion isn't even a top-picked perk nor does it make you infinitely aura-proof.

  • I would revert back to old Survivor/Killer portraits... Most of them still look very fan-made imo. Horrible lighting, awkward poses, some killers look goofy, they look plastic...

  • Oh I'm done with this game! 😭

I still see Bitter Murmur as someone flexing their arm even though I know it isn't.

  • No, thank you. We got actually problematic perks to focus on instead.

  • I had a game against a Feng that would instantly blind me yesterday. I wish I had footage of it but I don't have the habit of recording my games.

It happened 2 times in a row and I quit. Everytime after I picked up the survivor, meaning I'm not even in pick up animation anymore, I turn around to look at which hook I'm going towards, this Feng would be there and the second her flashlight clicked I would drop anyone that's on my shoulder... Not even a flashlight burning sound or anything just instantly blinded with no room for me to react.

Then on endgame chat Feng and her friend got really defensive and tried to gaslight me with "Just look down bro." Yeah, I know how to look down. I know how flashlights work. Thank you. You can't even instantly blind a Killer who is locked in an animation but you seem to do it to a Killer who is moving. Okay.

  • Unfortunately, most of those perks don't synergize well with eachother if the purpose is anti-tunneling.

If we're considering the real definition of tunneling the Killer will most likely hit you off the hook realising you have OTR because you make no sound. This instantly strips away 3 of those perks you've mentioned. OTR endurance is gone and now you're in deep wound. Renewal doesn't heal you if you're in deep wound and dead hard doesn't function during deep wound either.

Now you're left with a 3 second stun perk if your chase lasts shorter than 60 seconds and the Killer doesn't slug you.

Thanks for keeping up with my shennanings, Venusa <3

So, what do you say? Besides the couple of potatoes that the MMR system threw me, most of the games were like I described: the first chase decided everything, if I whiffed, the game was pretty much in the survivors lap then and there, if I got an early down, it was kinda in the open, but gens would soon fly around my ears left and right and I could either press the advantage and tunnel that first survivor or go down with 1 hook.

It was fun to watch! To be very honest while watching you I felt like MMR was too wonky and random to test out these kind of situations properly.

Because sometimes you would get the most potato (I say this lovingly) survivors and the other match you would get e-sports legends. Some matches you didn't go out of your way to tunnel but still won and some I felt like if you didn't deliberately try to tunnel maybe you could have gotten more than 1K. It was all very random as expected because DBD is like that. I wouldn't even say you hardcore tunneled most of your matches like I described. You were playing casually and your strategy changed based on how the game was going and some survivors were straight up asking to be tunneled. So many variables!

That's why I always said I don't think tunneling is a necessity and it's better to be used as a strategy depending on how the match is going. Loading into a match with the "I need to tunnel someone out asap or I lose" mindset is an exaggerated and stressful way to play the game.

  • Just realized that the report is from June 😭 People still reporting though. This review is taking long y'all. Hopefully they can get to the bottom of it.

It's a PvP game that is so fundamentally unbalanced that it can never really stand as a properly competitive game. It's a swirling vortex of RNG, imbalance, and godawful matchmaking, with a sprinkle of skill requirement. It isn't and can never really be a true contest of PvP skill.

If people want to feel like winning at DbD means anything, that's their prerogative, but it's pretty silly, imo. Going into every single public match trying to play "optimally" (i.e. tunneling for killer) like there's some kind of skill/strategy calculus that needs to be run is positively comical.

Hard tunneling right out of the gate is obviously the most efficient route to wins, but it's also totally unnecessary like 90% of the time, and it's also the lowest skill, most "path of least resistance" way to play killer. And it's positively miserable for survivors. Not miserable because they have been overwhelmed by the killer's skill, mind you, but because the way the game is designed there just isn't much they can do.

I mean if all that matters to you as a killer in the end are the numbers, then knock yourself out, you bought the game and it isn't violating any rules. But it sure doesn't seem like fun to me.

I can just never understand playing this game with that mindset when there so many PvP games out there that are actually balanced and properly competitive.

Not to mention all the bugs introduced with each update on top of what you've already listed. How can anyone take the competitive scene of this game seriously is beyond me LOL...

Awwww thanks <3. I will give it some thoughts :)

My biggest gripe right now is, how rediculously easy it is for survivors to slam the first 3 gens, just by splitting up. Sometimes the killer can apply some pressure to a different gen, but if he doesn't commit to any chase and just wound a couple of survivors, then nothing is gained and all gens currently worked it will continue to get pressured the moment he turns his back to them.

Survivors no longer gang up on gens at the start, everyone looks for their own gen and works on them and if the first chase involves even one mistake, you as the killer lose one mind game or even lose the survivor, then its pretty much "gg" to the three gens that you couldn't interfere with.

Back in the days survivors would happily work on gens together or go totem hunting or open chests, now they are most of the time laser focued on doing gens and the first 3 gens are 9/10 times done before you get the second hook. This is never a pace that the game was designed around, but when I tried to discuss this I was (unsurprisingly) met with a lot of opposition, "you want survivors to purposefully play bad and not split up?" or "you just want slow gens so that you can 4K every game".

Yes, I still win more games then I lose, but only by playing scummy AF and only by sweating and stressing like mad. There are no chill killer matches. EVER. And thus I can never really relax my stance in a match and maybe meme around. Add to this that de-pipping is still a thing and I often feel like I just can't afford to go easy on struggling survivors and you get a recipe for killers going sour and bitter, becoming merciless killing machines. Duh.

Thanks for explaining your point of view. I can see what you're talking about. I, too, usually expect 2~ gens to be completed by the time I get done with my first chase if the survivors are efficient or they split up. Corrupt Intervention generally helps with this situation but I won't imply we should fix X problem with Y perk because I know better and understand perks trying to band-aid core issues never helps with the balance of this game.

There's always a chance for both sides to make a comeback and most of the time first few gens popping doesn't hold much meaning but I still get what you're referring to. Unfortunately, easiest way to apply pressure is to target one survivor and Killers choose to do that.

I don't want to shame anyone for the way they play but also expecting a survivor to not be upset when they got thrown out of the game so early is hypocritical. People can play however they want but that doesn't mean everybody else has to comply and bowdown to their rules or not have any opinions about it. Your playstyle doesn't nullify their gaming experience. Waiting some time in queue just to be sent back to the lobby in a couple of minutes isn't fun and games should be fun.

(Last paragraph is a general statement and not personal to you Akuma!🫶)

Posts like this make me really consider starting to stream. I might not be an Otzdarva or SpookyLoops but I don't have that much more room to grow. In my games I just can't go for 8 hooks before killing and the last time I let a player on deathhook purposefully get away and spared them, I was rewarded with them joining the gen slamming session and doing the part just as good as anyone not hooked yet. Tunneling isn't just "a cheap trick employed by killers unwilling to improve", nor is it the "be all, end all tacti ", but it's often a necessity in today's meta in order to not getting swept away.

I would definitely watch you!🤭 But I have to say I don't remember a timeline where Killers didn't claim that tunneling wasn't a "necessity in today's meta" even when, like I mentioned, during the gen-kick meta where they could turn their brains off and keep the game going for 30 minutes with CoB+Overcharge+Eruption until survivors gave up. Killers were still complaining about how fast gens were going. So I always take "tunneling is a necessity" with a grain of salt.

Again, I'm not against tunneling as a strategy when the Killer wants to gain pressure. I don't even mind being tunneled out of the game when some gens are done and Killer decides to get someone out because there are 2~ gens left. But hardcore tunneling very early on at 5-gens has became the norm nowadays and it is a problem.

  • During gen-kick meta where Killers could hold the game hostage forever it was one of the easiest times to play Killer and people here were still claiming that "tunneling is more necessary than ever"...🙄 Be for real.

  • I'm not sure how this could be implemented without being either too situational or unfair.

The thing about snowballing is it can be because survivors as a group made mistakes which they should be punished for. It isn't just about being slugged.

If you take a closer look to basekit stuff survivors got like BT and AFC you're going to realize that it's always a situation where they don't have control or aren't given a chance to counterplay. Like being able to instantly downed by killer if unhooker didn't have BT or facecampers like Bubba making unhooks impossible and there's nothing you can do about it. I don't feel like snowballing falls into this category.

  • Damn... Has it been that long? I can't believe how long ago that was. It was Dark Theory too. Devs dipping their toes in Haste related perks. I remember everyone and big content creators freaking out about it only for nobody to end up using it...

  • It's the Obsession Wizard!

  • As a Killer she lacks any kind of skill expression.

I really feel like you're losing sight of the most important part of this conversation, which is that we're talking about people being tunnelled. We're not talking about general chases, we're not asking for the game or for any perk to cover up mistakes that people make in the course of normal gameplay, we are talking about someone specifically being targeted while they are much more vulnerable than the default.

That is relevant, because we're not talking about general chase perks, we're talking about anti-tunnel. We're talking about DS specifically, even, the hardest anti-tunnel to try and weaponise. You as the killer can completely invalidate and ignore these perks by not tunnelling people. If you choose to tunnel someone, there should be the risk that they have genuinely potent tools to make it not worth your time, otherwise why wouldn't every killer tunnel all the time? That won't lead to a reduction in tunnelling, obviously.

I'll briefly address the things in your brackets there, too, just to be clear:

    • When I refer to people not slugging, I don't understand what the confusion is or why this counts as "mental gymnastics". You said killers would slug more, I said I don't think they would. That's a pretty straightforward claim and counter-claim situation, so if I'm missing something, absolutely let me know and I'll be happy to clarify.
    • For the perk vs mechanics thing, you're the one who asked why the perk should be stronger and more forgiving than the basekit mechanic- and the answer is because it's a perk, it's something you're bringing to get a benefit above and beyond what's available to you in the basekit. It's fair for the basekit to be minor and heavily reliant on skill expression, but the tools you bring to do that job should be better than that, because you're giving up a perk slot for it. Otherwise why bother running the perk?
    • Anti-tunnel should work together and stack so that you can actually make yourself an unviable chase. Right now the killer can either hit you straight away to clear your Endurance, or they can count to ten. Neither of those are enough of an investment that tunnelling that survivor isn't worth it, so if the multiple perks involved would work together, those killers would think twice before tunnelling that survivor, making the anti-tunnel actually effective.
    • Why are you referring to Haste and Endurance before the survivor is hooked? Those aren't anti-tunnel and most of them (Endurance, anyway, less so Haste) need to be nerfed anyway, they're not relevant here.
    • That's literally what "deterring" means, so maybe this is a language issue? When I say killers would be deterred from tunnelling, what I mean is that they would make the choice not to tunnel because they either suspect a survivor has anti-tunnel tools like DS, or because they're assuming everyone has it. That's exactly what "deterrent" means and it is in fact what I want, it is healthier for killers to avoid recently unhooked survivors and chase someone else.

It's fair to expect people in a PvP game to get the necessary skill and game sense to be good at it if they want to win. That should imply, then, that we're giving them the reasonable space to do so, right? Being tunnelled is not normal gameplay, it's explicitly starting a chase injured and in what is likely to be a bad area. That's not normal gameplay conditions to improve, because if you're unhooked and healed while the killer's chasing someone else, you should ideally be starting the next chase healthy and in a different part of the map that likely has more resources. That's breathing room that gives you more time to practice and improve, which is something most people are gonna require if they're going to get better. As you get better and better, you'll need that breathing room less and less, which is totally normal and how improvement works in every other game.

I feel like you're really dancing around the issue of tunnelling being a bad thing we should want to fix, honestly. You keep drifting out into talking about general concepts like people getting good or having their mistakes covered for, while completely avoiding that we aren't talking about normal gameplay, we're talking about tunnelling.

The bottom line here is that tunnelling is still an issue in this game, both in terms of balance and in terms of fun factor. That's something you seem reluctant to acknowledge here, so it bears repeating.

Also, DS does not "work fine". It's really weak and requires you to already be in a strong tile when you go down because you get very little distance.

To be honest you explained every single point you've made so far very clearly, thoroughly and unbiased. I don't think you can reiterate what you've said better than this. I can't see how anyone could misconstrue what you've said any further.

At this point the only reason someone would go back and forth with you would be because their only motivation is to "prove you wrong" and not to discuss the topic at hand or because they always make a firm objection to anything that would be in favor of survivors.

  • First of all, I would start crying.

Be realistic, what do you expect the perk to do?

Killer wasted time chasing you, you ds'ed , and forced a second chase (essentially 2nd healthstate). You run 12 meters in 3 seconds, thats enough to reach a tile and begin looping again.

Do you expect ds to make you immune to be hooked unless the killer hooks someone else or lets you reset?

Well, the stun can be 5 seconds like how it was back in the day? Some time is spent falling off Killer's shoulder anyway so 3 seconds is really pathetic. The conspicuous action and end-game rules should stay just like how it is right now.

  • That's an interesting idea for Insidious! Reminds me of how Lethal Pursuer supplies other aura perks by adding extra 2 seconds! Idk if I would keep the stand still undetectable as a feature if it ever were to be reworked though since its only use is for facecamping.

Did the ada get a second chance at life thanks to DS? Yup.

Did she make the biggest mistake in DBD by W keying without looking back or even attempt to run into the tile 2 meters to the side against a ranged killer? Yup.

DS isn't meant to cover ada's/anyones lack of skill in chase / game awareness.

I can guarantee you nobody in the room is surprised that W key vs Deathslinger didn't work.

If you're going to go down soon Learn to go down near a tile/pallet so you can extend chase for another minute after DSing instead of trying to W key to comp corner just to get smacked down again after 5 seconds because you put yourself in a deadzone.

Nobody is asking for DS to fix anyone's lack of knowledge. Idk where y'all get that from. I didn't even make any buff suggestions.

I simply showed an example that 3 seconds doesn't even give you enough distance against certain killers that can either range-hit or teleport deeming the perk useless. That's it.
