Then you forgot to listen to them on the Community Streams, where they clearly explained that they would not want to push anything through if people really dont like it.
Genuinely no offense, but why would I care about what they have to say when their actions are louder than words? After 2025, I don't know why anyone would (in my opinion).

debatable, avoiding the objective is technically reportable, certainly forbidden to encourage on these forums. hook farming could be seen as intentionally getting hooked (go next) which is again forbidden to encourage on these forums.
That's a very hefty assumption to make against me. I don't find it very conductive to conversation on the thread and it could be seen as derailing. Please refrain from doing this in the future.

Are we still complaining about getting 3 gen when killer tools to hold a 3 gen indefinitely have been nerfed and there's a limit to amount of times a killer can regress a gen?
Genuine question—how often has the average Killer hit the kick limit without a regression perk doing it for them?

hook farm? meaning? sounds like avoiding the objective and not engaging in normal gameplay to me….
Normal gameplay devolves into hook farming all the time. 😵

You mean, it was not possible for BHVR create a system that players would accept well enough.
BHVR never said it was not a problem.
No, I meant what I said. If it was a real issue, BHVR still would have pushed a fix through. Players have gotten upset over all kinds of things that still got the green light. By doing nothing to solve it in the end, they are communicating that it isn't a problem. I would welcome a member of staff specifying otherwise, but until then I'm going off of what they themselves have conveyed via their actions.
-
Nothing, honestly. Even the most rudimentary stuff is unrealistic. I've said for a long time that a proper scaling difficulty would help a lot, but it's already in the game and implemented so poorly that it does very little.
-
It gave me Mirrored Illusion and Blast Mine together which was incredibly confusing. But other than that they've been meh. I don't really pay attention.
-
This is what BHVR wants unfortunately. After 2025, it's more than clear that they want the game to be in a bad state and they want to be on bad terms with their audience. After years of hoping they'd see the light and putting in more effort than was ever necessary to mend the relationship, they've proven that they are the only ones that matter. Damage their ego and you're out. Leaving is the best decision, since they don't really care if we're here or not or what we have to say anyway. Best of luck to you moving forward.
-
BHVR looked at it in 2025 and deemed it not to be a problem. Unacceptable, I know.

this is the difference between survivor and killer. As a horror game, what sounds more appropriate:
- survivors struggle to survive and escape while hunted by a lethal killer
- lethal killer struggles to kill before survivors escape.
survivor should be harder, killer should be easier. Anyone picking survivor role should understand this and accept this role for what it is.
It's a bad argument for a PVP game. You could go in circles about it forever too. Who wants to see a horror movie where nobody fights back? Survivors can't really foil the Killer or trick them beyond vaulting and shining a flashlight at them. More and more over time, DBD operates more like a slasher where no one survives.

Because the game is in such a great state right now to warrant this. I love seeing a defenseless sable get tunneled at 5 gens because she was merely existing as i face the 52th ghoul this week.
Man, survivors are so greedy to have their games be more than just that cycle, im sure nerfing them more will do justice, it clearly worked last year and made everyone have fun with eachother!. /J
Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see it turn around. My point is that incentives are a total waste of time and don't work.
-
Isn't that the new Eyrie? It's literally the worst map in the game. You're better off not even trying to finish the gens unless the Killer is friendly, in my opinion. Otherwise it's designed to be an easy stomp.

If only bhvr would give some kind of incentive or mechanic so killers cant just cheaply tunnel ar 5 gens....
Oh wait...
Please let 2026 be the death of talking about incentives. 😭
-
Is it that different? The whole point of the mode is that it's disarming.
-
It's the combo of random perks and random items. It's impossible to play against apparently.
-
I don't log my stats but it's definitely David and Alan. After that is a toss up between Vittorio, Leon (plus legendaries), Felix, Jonah, Steve, Cheryl (legendaries), Jeff, etc. Pretty much all of the boys barring a couple.
-
Judging by how Stranger Things has been handled, I'm guessing no. If they make a new NOES or have a big promo for the originals, we might get something. But otherwise they don't like revisiting old content. Even looking at SAW, the last time we got anything was when Spiral released. I think they'd rather pour more resources into their big name licenses, which sadly these are not. Maybe if they'd gotten Robert and Heather from the beginning, it would receive a bit more attention. But as is, I wouldn't hold my breath.
-
Playing the other role is moot advice, in my opinion. In a game where you're forced to play both sides, that can work. But generally you're asking someone to change their investments/biases and that's easier said than done.
People can either sympathize or they can't. I used to be able to, but I genuinely think Killer is too far gone at this point. The amount of mental gymnastics we keep having to take to claim Killer is the underdog is not doing anyone any favors. And "balancing" with DBD is so laughably unpredictable that it borders on uselessness so getting too hung up on that is genuinely a total waste of time. We just talk in loops.
Realistically, It's a much more productive conversation to talk about the psychology behind the game I think.

To be perfectly fair, over half of the game's life span at this point has either been totally fair to Killer or mostly in Killer's favor. It's not at all unrealistic to think the game is easy by comparison.

Many things died because people don´t play games out anymore. For every reason people check out of games and it gets really annoying.
I get that, but it's unrealistic to force people to stick around. This new system can force players to stay, but it can't force players to engage. That would require bigger changes to happen. One of which would be reverting this system (in my opinion) and the other would be to boost morale by giving players something to stick around for. Otherwise they're being asked to give their all for nothing at all.

No no the Abbandon Button can stay and it is "goodish" but it can be really frustrating from time to time.
My favorite example to this was a game where I ran Deliverance, DS, Mft and Wglf. One gen left and 3 survivors down. I get hooked, jump off the hook and pick up. Well sadly i picked up three bots. Good come back storys get butcherd.
My point is we need to stop stretching things. Yes they might be not perfect. But if we start to say ping is 80 so you can dodge, the next one can demand "no we need the button when ping is 70" or "No this hit was invalid we should abbandon"
This escalates to much.
Clutch plays died with the self-unhook imo. They're too rare and too tricky to balance the game around.

Its a sunk cost fallacy for me I guess ;) I will keep hammering it until they do something, or until they ban me in an act of censorship. As a 2016 player I have an account worth so much cash, it rly saddens me to see DBD go to waste under these devs. I WANT the game to be better, it has so much potential, which makes it that much more frustrating to me.
PS: BUT I haven't spent a penny on DBD since the Chucky release. I was absolutely devastated after what they did to my lil guy :( He was the first one I truly grinded to P100… You never forget your first :(
Everyone gets banned eventually, across all platforms BHVR is on aside from x/twitter. 😵 I think it's good to not be complacent though.

Could we maybe not demand to overuse the abbandon button?
It was a good idea to implement it to escape from lost games like 4 man slug or all survivors hooked on second stage. But the definition of the abbandon button gets strechted more and more and makes this game kinda unplayable.
That's why I think they should just revert it at this point. All that 2025 has proven is that their attempts to quantify game mechanics are impossible and they just have to accept that the game is going to operate a certain way until they make radical changes. All of these small little rules are only making things more taxing on the player while doing nothing to improve the game itself (in my opinion).
As much as I think the hook counter and the FC meter being visible are good for the game, it's very sad that that's the best we got out of all of this.

Yes, the new penalties are just crazy, I liked the previous one where you could wait a couple of days, that was more reasonable, they should have kept both of them so that those who play often don't have to wait for a long time and get their penalties removed even though it should be max 5 matches for 1 penalty point not obnoxious 20 matches
P.S. Those who downvote are apparently old people who don't want any new drastic changes in the game, especially the local killer mains here
I agree. It only contributes to fatigue and negatively impacts the queue. Players are indefinitely locked out on one hand which slows trials down, and they're being forced to play out 20+ trials when they're already ready to tap out on the other which isn't solving the issue that caused going next to skyrocket in the first place. If anything, it's making players quit faster.
I might expect this from a game that takes itself much more seriously, but for the sandbox hide and go seek game which takes balance as a suggestion and not a rule it's laughably inappropriate (in my opinion).

If it were as simple as that, I wouldn't be complaing about it. I am actively monitoring a steam account that is still playing to this day, that I have reported multiple times since 300 days ago with blatant video evidence. Don't make up excuses for BHVR when they are obviously doing nothing to combat it, in any way. All my report would have taken is one mod to review that report and to ban that account. Sad fact is that it is more likely for me to get banned on this forum for calling out the problems.
I absolutely agree. My point is that there will be no resolution toward what we want, in my opinion.
-
We see BHVR struggle just to fix bugs. I don't think it's especially reasonable to expect them to also stay up to date with stonewalling hacks. Not saying that we shouldn't be in a position to expect that, it's that realistically they're in too deep to truly address it. All you can do is hope that EAC will catch everything, which years worth of experience show us that it won't.
-
Short answer, yes. For many reasons, in my opinion.
-
They should just revert everything and bring back giving up on hook and the old DC penalty system. Genuinely, I cannot name anything the Abandon feature has done other than try to come up with legal ways of giving up and it can't. We're back to the same position as we were before with just a few more hoops to jump through. Until the game is fixed (which will probably be never—this year has been the ultimate testament toward that), we need ways to overcome messy situations that are a result of the state of the game. If it's abused, then it's abused. Just another drop in the bucket. Taking it away entirely is more harmful in the long run, in my opinion.
-
I'm thankful that we had the opportunity to tell BHVR exactly how we feel, unfiltered. Not that I think that will go anywhere in terms of growth or progress for the game or even for the forum because, in my opinion, egos are too big and fragile like an overinflated balloon. BUT I am very proud of everyone who did so unapologetically and what that meant for them. I'm glad that many people who may have felt like they were the only ones seeing, thinking, or feeling these things are now aware that they're not. That is an invaluable thing to have. Strength through adversity.

then they cant complain when they lose as and get 43% escape rate lol its as simple as that.
"i dont escape enough, i want to escape more than i currently do"
ok say if you play this way you can do gens more, get hatch more, escape more…..
"i dont want the hatch, i wont play like you"
fair enough, deal with the low escape rate then
Getting hatch only works because 3 others fail. So be careful what you wish for.

I will say in one of my trials yesterday, we got someone to struggle free and 3 of us pelted the Killer with snowballs. That was kind of fun and cathartic and I didn't feel as sour when we wiped. 😝

It's the polar opposite of what the majority has wanted since 2019. It might be a licensing agreement, personal choice, whatever. The reality is that I think people are gonna pass on this one like I plan to (in my opinion).

I would even bet most of them are not even sweaty they just play normally. I for example want to play normally with the event powers because its interesting how looping can be messed up with it from both sides. Like new tactical layer and rarely get any interesting matches with it because people don't play really.
I don't know that I'd say that. It's very obvious what's going on in my trials. But I will say that it's so easy to be a powerhouse that it's easy to appear sweaty even if you're not trying.

im a soloq player with 60 to 70% escape rate… if soloq was brought up to swf via comms my escape rate would be even higher lol. soloq escape rates are about 40% as they are. I dont see an issue with it. i think instead of protecting the weaker player, the weaker player should improve, play differently, practice. Because if all weaker players improved instead of going next, DC or just ignoring any help given to them ("i shouldnt have to use anti tunnel perks, so im not going to use them"), then the killer would be faced with a team of good loopers that can hold their own without any help.

When the game is balanced the way that it is, you have to accept it unfortunately. Make good use of the abandon feature to respect your time.
-
My idea year would be closing the game for 3 - 6 months to rework it from the ground up. Iron out all of the bugs, change how gens and hooks work, give players more autonomy across the board, beef up communication, etc. Essentially make year 10 the true year of health.
I'd love to see additional features as well like the ability to recolor cosmetics via a color wheel, change lobby themes on the fly, share/recycle things from the bloodweb, so on and so forth.
Really give the game a chance to shine with all of the potential we've seen in it from day one.
But as we all know, that will never happen. It's the single most unrealistic thing to expect from the game (in my opinion).

Thats an interesting question. Teabagging especially is widespread in the gaming culture. So why is it far more hated in DBD than in other games?
One reason could be what it stands for/gets associated with. In DBD its normal to get many insulting messages (bc there is no console-chat people even use pms on playstation). First teabags, then messages. So people associate a stronger negative feeling with teabags.
Another reason could be the asymmetric gameplay. If 4 people do it to one person its more similar to bullying as one cod player against another one.
Whatever it is, killer anxiety is a common thing. And i dont really know why it is.
Humiliation is the key there I think. Killer can totally single out one player and ruin the game for them, but Survivor is more likely to feel frustrated by that scenario than humiliated. Maybe I'm speaking only for myself, but I don't think there are very many things on Survivor that really encourage you to feel like you're a loser which is the benefit of not being the power role. For Killer, it's sort of like all eyes are on you when you fail so you always feel like the odd man out. Which is ironic because that's the draw to the role in the first place—being the main character.

I think there's a difference in why people think the abandon mechanic exists.
Does it exist for when gameplay is no longer possible?
Or does it exist as a mercy rule when one side cannot advance its position (i.e. achieve a 'win') anymore?
The survivor standards (especially everyone slugged/dead) meet both criteria - you're no longer doing anything and you likely can't advance your position (and if you can, you don't have to abandon).
The killer being able to abandon when the survivors are just hiding out meets the former, but not the latter. They obviously could still find and kill the survivors, but there is no actual gameplay happening.
The killer with the survivors in the exit gate meet the latter, but not the former. They still can still engage the survivors, but there's really no chance of actually winning (this is kind of equivalent to a survivor playing out chases after the match is effectively over - they have no chance of winning, but they are still engaged in gameplay).
BHVR's standard seems to be the first argument - when does gameplay end, not when is the match effectively decided, which is why I think the hypocrisy arguments don't work.
Ultimately I feel like there's no real way to quantify it. I think that outside of the "rules for thee but not for me" mentality several players tend to have, there is a desire for the abandon mechanic to merely be a legal go next/DC. It's not so much about whether you can or can't advance, but more about whether you feel like playing anymore. Where we got stuck in the weeds was trying to force other players to engage with us when they were very much over it.

This image alone should make anyone who says its survivor sided, shut up.
And no, its not designed to be survivor sided, it never was.
(Yes, even with the drastic meta's on both sides with perks and maps)
I dont want to flip the game to be survivor sided.
The Problem for me is, why should i ever play survivor when it requires more hours for less reward, for less fun than it is on killer?.
Even on events, besides one event this year, being bloodmoon, you have no reason to ever play survivor as a more experinced player, who isnt thirsty for bloodpoints.
Maybe a bit of a tangent on my part, but this is part of my issue as well. I genuinely don't think the game was ever truly all in favor of Survivor. Whenever we talk about broken tools on their end, we conveniently leave out things that were just as broken on the Killer's end. Pre-year 6 (or even 5 with MMR taken into account), the game somehow found a way to be just chaotic enough that balance was somehow able to meet somewhere in the middle.
I think what actually happened is that Killers were really getting tired of macro play and were no longer having fun. That should have been the point where BHVR went back to the drawing board for what kind of game DBD should be. Instead, they decided to shift the macro onto Survivor who as a role cannot do that heavy lifting on its own like Killer can. Even the allegedly unstoppable 4-man SWFs with comms are struggling.

A killer that is maintaining a very high kill rate and getting 4k match after match for years is also winning the vast majority of their matches. Why would a killer that is doing such ever think the game is survivor sided? Yet this seems to be the exact attitude many have, not all of course. Even if we assume that this is solely because of matchmaking, you can't get into a non-custom match without going through matchmaking.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4040011#Comment_4040011
OK, one survivor gets up. Now what? Most likely just a doom spiral as the killer realizes and downs them or whoever they pickup or unhook until everyone is down again. The chance of the survivors rallying against an even semi-competent killer in this scenario is unlikely. Could it happen? Sure, but probably not in solo queue and if swf then you know if someone has something or not. The chance of crawling to hatch is basically zero unless you know someone brought an offering, happen to be nearby, and are going to be the last to bleed out.
The actual endgame just sucks in nearly every scenario. All survivors in gate, slug for 4k, everyone slugged, 2v1, all bad. Would I care if the killer could abandon if every survivor was in an exit gate or a similar scenario, not even a little but BHVR seems to be having trouble treating abandons appropriately on the stats site and won't say how they are being counted in the official stats.
And that leads me here, that I think it's again just the psychology behind Killer players. It's not that there's no frustrations or no QOL issues to be addressed, it's that even when Killers are winning across the board by design they will still argue that they are the weakest role. There is no barrier to that mentality either. We've literally seen complaints that Survivors are favored because of a vague exit survey, following a string of updates that heavily affected Survivor in-game.
There's no task bold enough or grand enough to change that, unfortunately. They will always be unhappy (in my opinion).

Buddy…why are you letting them tbag you at the gate for 2 minutes? That's a problem you're making for yourself. HIT. THEM. OUT.
I seriously need to understand something. Why are killer so thin skinned? It's tbagging. It happens in every pvp game, but dbd is the only game where tbagging is seen as such a detriment to someone's mental health? For god sake, read what you said "Bleeding the killer of his sanity". If such a mundane thing is THAT harmful to you, maybe pvp games aren't for you. You all make tbagging out to be the worst crime imaginable. It's pretty pathetic. It's the psychological aspect I've been trying to figure out as well. Bagging is almost always held in the same regard as mechanics that actively prevent players from even playing the game at all and at times treated as if it warrants more attention.
-
Hard pass. Everyone wanted Hopper and Joyce, myself included. I'm not interested in a Legendary.
-
I think the elephant in the room here is that even with this objectively superior system, will the extra effort on our part to go make an account and post bugs make any real tangible difference in the long run? There are already over 400 bugs listed on that site. How many will get fixed? How many will break in the process? Will the game look or feel any different in the end?
-
They already responded via their actions. They don't care about tunneling.
