I am surprised that one of the first mentioned perks wasn't franklins. I always see it complained about and got flag for using it.

Suppose I wouldn't call Franklin's boring... infuriating maybe, but probably not boring 😅

  • I don't mind Corrupt, cause at least trying to sneak past the killer to get to a far gen is stimulating... and if you get downed, hey Corrupt is gone...

I find Grim Embrace really irritating personally...

You can't all go for the unhook... and the first 3 procs are too short to realistically go anywhere else to do something productive... so you just wait for 10 seconds twiddling your thumbs. Like Deadlock is annoying, but at least you can run to another nearby gen and start progressing that.

The final proc lasts 40 seconds, so you can go elsewhere... but it blocks everything... so it's still hard to find something productive to do...

It also basically allows the killer to camp the hook, because there is literally nowhere else better for them to be... a killer who goes out and chases is fair enough, but realistically speaking, by doing that you're allowimg survivors to have a way to be useful for their team by making the save and healing, so youre actually better camping the hook and forcing a trade.

If the save is made, I literally just sit opening chests or doing random totems during the 40s cause there is literally nothing to do otherwise, unless you wanna throw yourself at the killer, and that is pointless cause you're still not buying anything of value for your team... 😒

  • Not being tunneled is a privilege, not a right.

Anyone who uses basekit endurance to punish a killer who extends that privilege by taking a hit for their teammate, revokes their anti-tunnel privileges.

So no guilt. They were just salty their buddy died.

I just ignore teabags, treat it as free hits and chases for bloodpoints and swing to force them to leave. If you really wanna piss them off in end game chat, respond to everything they say with "lol" 😏

  • Watching the killer search for me off in the distance gives me life... for this reason Tenacity is my favourite DBD perk. 😏

So, I purchased a cosmetic for The Pig. I bought the one that scares me the most.

I decided to play a real game as her with the intention of winning for the first time ever.

I uploaded the video and wanted to share it. The match is almost 20 minutes and is not edited in any way.

This is me, as The Pig - Raw and Uncensored.

    What have I become?

A fellow Metal Mandy, but with the Serated Blade 🧡🐽🧡

    I can't help myself:

Jigsaw Voice "Hello Count... for years you have cowered in the shadow of my Apprentice, allowing dread and trepidation to rule your DBD life, and blind you to your true purpose...

Now you have been tested... and you have won, and been born again. Most people are so ungrateful to play Pig in DBD... but not you... not anymore..."

Doesn't League of Legends have a surrender system? I think I've heard other LoL players complain about how it in comparison to rage quitting.

There's a difference between rage quitting and surrendering. I think everyone is opposed to rage quitting, but whether the game should have surrender options or not, and when, and if, it's okay for a survivor to 'go next', there is some disagreement on. Not sure how or if you are separating them in your stats.

It is a problem and while I have lots of disagreements with the devs, this seems like one of the simplest things that can be fixed.

Early rage quits have been less common for me lately, but I don't track it and don't have a huge sample size. When I used to watch Asian twitch streamers I was really surprised how rare DCs/rage quits were on those servers in comparison to mine (US West).

As a former league of legends player, surrender sucks. You almost never have fun, because any time you lose you either quit, or try to play on in a losing game... or you win and your opponent quits.

You see it often where players who get ahead will deliberately feed to the opposition to try and make it so they don't quit early, which can in turn throw the game.

Games are filled with highs and lows. The lows are not fun, but they do help define the highs, but surrender means you almost never get to experience the high, so the whole game experience judt becomes bitter and pointless, and you one day ask yourself "why am I playing this game? I never have fun...".

Trust me, never add a surrender option. If you think you're sick/burnt out on DBD now, surrender will make it a whole lot worse.

  • I'm not worried about MMR, and never have been. How can anyone objectively assess matchmaking when many people used the prestige system to lobby shop?

It's being disabled, and since you can't view the profiles of people of different platforms, the task becomes tougher to lobby shop to the point of not being worth it. Maybe now MMR has a chance to work properly.

The fundamental issue survivors face is you are by design reliant on your teammates. It doesn't matter if you buy 90 seconds for your team if they don't use it. Similarly if those same players don't loop effectively while you're on gens, you can't get things completed.

This means as survivor you're reliant on your team, as you should be... but majority of survivors I listen to want to be master of their own fate, and have the power to loop the killer for 5 gens and still get out...

This desire is diametrically opposed to the very concept of the game... if you don't want to rely on your teammates, you're playing the wrong game, and is just an unrealistic expectation if you genuinely believe the game should be balanced for both sides.

Personally, I've been playing survivor much more lately due to blood point rewards, and I've been having loads of fun... yesterday I played maybe 12 games and survived 2 of them... but even if I haven't escaped often myself, I've had plenty of 2 and 3 man outs, with a couple of 4 man outs too (yes the 2 I escaped were the 4 man outs). That tends to be the curse of the player that actually does manage to hold the killers attention.

  • Wouldn't it be cool to have an 10 hook minimum requirement for the finisher mori?

Y'know, like it was a reward for an absolute victory type deal, so that camping and tunneling a survivor out is far less likely to allow you to get your "style points" win? The best way to realistically attain it would be to spread hooks, as if you hook a survivor and they SOH to give hatch, cause you've rushed out 2 other players, you won't get it.

Be like a natural incentive and "challenge" for killers to go for instead of just hard focusing their invisible MMR rating as their only incentive.

  • Wait, what are we talking about?

Adrenaline did get changed/reworked, and it was made far healthier… now there isn't anything anyone can reasonably complain about; it's perfectly fair...

It still has a very strong effect, but with a meaningful risk vs. reward, and is certainly viable while no longer rewarding a survivor for being caught and hooked...

  • @WolfyWood said:

It's just a weird forum thing where killer mains try to boost their opinion by stating they play both sides and care for both sides despite being incredibly biased.

Sometimes killers farm after someone gives up, most of the time they don't. And I've never seen end game chat of someone complaining about a hook suicide.

When would you ever expect the hook suicide player to be in the room to complain to? I've never known a SoH player stick around after they take themselves out...

What's the killer gonna say? "Man, that SoH Nancy is a real piece of work, literally handed me the game!"

Somehow I don't think that'd go down very well.

I am sorry to be the party breaker, while is this true devs did many great changes to killers I am now not going to mention (good job), this list is kinda mix bag. They did many good updates to killers but also many bad ones.

    List goes:

    • Onryo (she is still too weak and her previous version I prefer more)
    • Pig (she still relly on add-ons on her dash, but the base kit buffs were nice but small)
    • Twins (their big rework was just small QoL update in the end, huge waste of everyones time for waiting a big rework)
    • Chucky (scamper should be nerfed and not removed and dashing scamper should be buffed its useless joke and window scamper was shadow nerfed)
    • Knight (got nerfed to please Survivors while he got small something for huge chase nerfs).

It beats 2-5 years of no updates regarding community feedback at all doesn't it? Doesn't at least some credit feel deserved?

Also with regards to Pig... when you look at all the nerfs she had in 2019, the buffs she got were like giving a man dying of thirst a half filled cup of Scottish Highlands mineral water...

Every day we don't appear in the patch notes is a sigh of relief, and we'll take anything over being thrown out into the desert again xD

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/423596/how-do-you-escape-in-this-situation

To be frank, it's game design like this and many others, that make it clear the devs don't give two craps about survivors. They might throw one or two good perks at the survivors to make it seem like they care, but they cater way more towards the killers. Why else would there be small maps, maps where the exit gates spawn next to each other, a chance for the hatch to spawn right next to the killer, killers having insanely powerful base kits without perks or add ons, and BHVR being okay with and encouraging toxic behavior like slugging, tunneling, and camping.

It's not fun to play as survivor anymore.

You say this a lot... are you sure you actually even like DBD as a concept anymore?

I still have loads of fun, even as, and usually more often as a soloQ survivor. SWF tends to be boring. Either you are clowning the killer, which makes the whole game kinda a joke that gets old fast, or they are playing something strong/sweaty, in which case it's just gen rush, gen rush, gen rush.

In SoloQ on the other hand I still experience worry, dread, uncertainty, and I die often from making it hard for the killer to efficiently tunnel me out, by even going down in corners if I have to, to having plenty of situations I could have escaped, but decided instead to be altruistic.

Are there boring games where the killer camps constantly and tunnels a player off hook? Sure, it happens in about 1 in 10 games for me on the EU servers, and even then it is mire often a temporary camp/tunnel for pressure, not usually the hard-core make sure thsi player dies ASAP version. Often when it does happen there is about a 50/50 chance the player being tunneled is good and runs the killer for decent lengths of time.

95% of the time that I get annoyed in this game is from the decisions of my survivor teammates, not anything I can fault the killer or game balance for.

Regarding the OP, yeah some maps this can happen, and any situation where the survivor is the sole survivors should be in the killers favour since the killer closing the hatch after preventing gens from powering is still somehow not a killer win yet. Granted this is a little too much in the killers favour, and offending maps should be fixed, but there arent many of them, and this scenario is rare enough that it doesn't really matter all that much... you aren't likely gonna have it happen more than maybe 1 time in 50 games.

Agree with most, but on the last point I feel that's why they'd do springtrap. Scott said he doesn't feel like making the children possessing the animatronics killers for no reason is something he wants to see happen. Afton on the other hand. Murdered what 6 children? Tried to kill his own son. Tried to kill a security guard who burned down the place with both of them in it. Got found and put under the pizza plex. Somehow came back to life and was able to posses freddy and the other animatronics to attempt to kill Cassie. I mean he was dragged to hell for a reason lol.

Spot On, Springtrap is the obvious antagonist and does fit the bill better... I suppose my issue with him is he isn't the major focus of the "scares" in FNAF for most of the games.

In each other characters case, they are the front runner for all engagements as the antagonist... Springtrap mostly exists as an idea in the background until the finale.

Again, this is just my opinion... but it's also like yes, child killer bad... but the context is he's basically gone mad through guilt at killing his 2 children with his animatronics, and now kills children to try and understand the soul trapping aspect of his robots, up to the point the children in the bots revolt and get him.killed in the Spring Bonnie suit... there's a disconnected psychopathy there... but I don't get much murderous intent.

    • Freddy is a sexual predator and a sadist who enjoys tormenting and torturing you before he kills you for his own gratification.
    • Jason is an incredibly strong, yet childlike deformed monster of a man, who brutally murders anyone who comes across his path as a result of unwaveringly following the visions of his vengeful mother.
    • Chucky is a vile serial killer and predator trapped in the body of a doll, who now uses his near immortality to prey on new victims.
    • Cenobite is man who has lost his mind, and become an agent of hell, intent on gathering as many victims to experience the very limits of excruciating anguish and ecstasy as possible.
    • Leatherface is a hulking cannibal who views people outside his family as nothing more than meat to be slaughtered with no regard for the pain he inflicts in the process.

William Astley is a man who has gone mad, and kills children to understand how souls are trapped in his animatronics to try and find a way to save the soul his son Evan and his daughter Elizabeth... before eventually his Spring Bonny suit kills him too when the ghosts of the children he has murdered corner him. After being buried for 30 years with his own corpse in the Spring Bonnie outfit, he now tries to kill anyone he encounters (as far as I can tell).

It's not bad I guess now I've written it out, I suppose my issue is the way its presented in game, the children are also against him, and actively befriend you at certain points through the games (I'm sure one of the games has Freddy Fazbear literally as your running buddy the whole time).

So I suppose that left a bitter taste in my mouth as a horror game, cause the games actively defuse a lot of the horror it could have had... which makes sense for a more child focused audience.

  • I agree with everything you say, I put FNAF in the same camp as Goosebumps, and I like the original FNAF, and I like Goosebumps... but they aren't series for a mature horror audience, and the rest of the content in this game is not suitable for the FNAF audience.

The quote from the 11 year old is poignantly hilarious xD

As someone who used to work in GAME in UK, parents are dreadful at enforcing age restrictions, and that is a legitimate concern. When Grand Theft Auto 4 was released, I gave the same warning every single time:

"So GTA4 is an 18 rated game, it contains numerous references to gang related violence, drugs, murder and prostitution, and regularly has the player engage with each of these acts, are you sure you want to buy this game?"

You would not believe the number of parents that respond with "oh they've heard it all before on the playground"... that response always dumbfounded me... in the entire time we sold it, only 3 parents decided not to buy the game for their 10 year old child...

I'm not a fan myself of FNAF series as a whole... and while this is entirely my opinion and not anything objective, and I don't want to try and gatekeep by saying something FNAF isn't scary for a mature audience (especailly as horror is subjective), it's a strange entry for DBD.

I know people point at Clown elephant and Legion rabbit cosmetics, but to respond to those, while I don't like those cosmetics myself, in both cases its playing on the trope of a disarming killer, same kind thing as Pennywise is disarming until his trap his sprung.

Its also true there is a lot of goofiness in the major horror series/icons as well... its a fact that pretty much every major horror series has incredible jank and goofiness in it... but usually the original film and immediate sequel does not. Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Ft13th, Child's Play, Hellraiser, SAW (after 6), Alien, Predator, etc. It's not uncommon at all to say a horror series degrades over its run, and FNAF is the same... but the starting points respectively of each of those IPs is not the same ball game as FNAF...

There are numerous FNAF fans here, and I will extend the olive branch that I like the original FNAF... but the additions in later series that creates this idea of robots with innocent children's souls as your antagonists, that are sometimes friendly, sometimes not, and may or may not hurt you depending on who you are and how much you piss them off... doesn't hold quite the same feeling as someone like Myers who wants to and will relentlessly try to kill you just watch the light fade from your eyes.

  • After you've left the match end game screen not really...

Maybe you can find them with "recently met players" on each platform, but ofc if they aren't on the same platform, if they've made their account private, then nothing to be done.

  • 10'000 is a curious limit, and couldn't possibly be related to server space, as you're wasting additional space unnecessarily that limit. Normally for an unsigned integer you would expect limits of 2¹⁶ = 65536, 2³² = 4'294'967'296, or 2⁶⁴ = lots. 32 bits would be most common, and would be more than enough to ever care... though even 16 bits is plenty to never realistically hit a problem.

More realistically 9999 is the limit of what could be rendered neatly in the HUD... and if it were me programming it, I'd just store the real number on the server, and just render 9999 for any value >= 10'000. I'd be kinda surprised if this wasn't the case tbh 🤔🤔🤔

  • @GoingToGetDwight
Your post was about killers ignoring other survivors and targetting you? I mean all i can say is there are numerous factors that play into why a killer lets certain survivors go, and it's on a killer by killer basis.

Some want to be nice but also want to get 10 hooks and use luck of the draw, some let players go for playing well or being funny, some let people go because they feel bad after using a nasty perk combo or something.

What I will say, is there are biases…. as unpleasant as it is to admit, female survivors can be looked on more favourably than male survivors because as a largerly male playerbase they are cuter… however this can swing the other way as they are also targetted by other individuals specifically for the same reasons, so that's a trade off.

The fact you are basic Dwight will draw attention to you as an "easy target". Default skins with low prestige are actually used by some players to deliberately intice the killer to go for them when they are far stronger a player than they look.

I doubt this happens to you every game though, in fact, it's quite rare for a killer to give up hatch, let alone let 2 survivors repair gens and escape.

  • I used to do this just to be nice, now I only do it when someone DCs or I have a SoH, but to offer some perspective on it:

There are killers that are more in it for the fun of the chase, where the actual results of the match don't really matter. Curve Billy's for example were very much like this. Climbing the invisible MMR ladder is not something I care about at all (it literally means nothing to climb it), instead I want to have fun, and would prefer that everyone is mostly having fun... cause for players like myself, absolutely dunking on someone isn't really a thing I enjoy. It's amazing how ignoring the result of the match frees you up to actually have fun in this game, and I'm convinced that a lot of people's burn out with it is simply trying so hard to win, they've lost sight of what they enjoy doing.

Think of it like a game of chess. If you play against a much weaker opponent (say your 10 year old nephew or something), do you go uber hard in the paint and wipe the floor with them? No... cause that demoralises them and stops them playing the game. You already know you're gonna win, so what does it prove continuing to crush them? You ease up, you give them chances to come back, or may even use the opportunity to teach, limit yourself to make a game of it, or let them have the win.... whatever it is you do, the point is that both parties are having fun, cause if people aren't having fun, then what's the point of playing the game?

When I absolutely dominate a team and all chases end really quickly, there isn't much fun to be had, and no one obviously wants to go up against super sweat lords pushing every mechanic they possibly can to annihilate their opposition... so it only serves logically to not be one yourself.

Nowadays the quality of survivors I face is generally pretty good, so I don't give away wins anymore out of respect for them and the spirit of the game, however... I still take a stance I will always play for 10 hooks if possible, I don't camp and tunnel, and will consider 5 hooks the sacrifice point, where if I find the Dead On Hook player, that was was their mistake. I will also always play the hatch gamble, slugging for the 4k is boring.

I will still however let survivors repair gens in the event of a DC or SoH, I play out to max hooks nornally, and anyone who doesn't also quit gets to leave. I will also sometimes do it when a player asks to be let go... (though anyone using Boil Over is being sent to the Entity with a request for special treatment stapled to their forehead).

Always remember, Boops Save Lives. 🐽

Basically letting survivors go is a way for killers to not take this game too seriously, cause being a try hard quickly makes it a very unfun experience, even when you're winning.

Question to everyone. If you were responsible for reworking Pig and could give her 2 additional powers, but they have to be balanced, what power would you give her?

To keep it simple you could use this formula: Chase; Mobility; Utility

2 additional powers eh? That's an interesting question... with only maybe 2 minutes of thought...

Some way to handle survivors pre-throwing pallet and holding W from tile to tile is the main thing I think she needs so that we can actually get use out of her dash to mind game at tiles more often.

I would also like to go on the hunt quicker after a hook to incentivise not tunneling a headtrapped survivor even more.

So picking some rough numbers off the top of my head, I would lobby for: -

    • a 15% faster pallet break speed, maybe using a hook like a crowbar (repurposing the idea from my drag survivors to hook and attach the hook to a chain idea for her unique carry/hook animations).
    • a 10% speed boost while crouching after hooking a survivor for 12s.

This would mean survivors would be better rewarded for trying to playing the tile and trying to stun the Pig with the pallet during her M2, instead of pre-throwing and running away.

Would also mean we could sneak around to cover gens at a faster click without being punished so much for doing so.

It's pathetic really. There's certain people that just want to create a drama around certain topics whenever they can. You can Google that incident and see that no real foul play took place in under 1 min. The only foul play I seen is that he was basically bullied into retirement and had received threats that placed his family under lots of stress whilst his wife was 6 months pregnant.

After reading up everything I could on the matter myself... and I agree with this assessment...

However I think it behooves us to be careful about talking it anymore, as it stirs the pot, and every FNAF thread sways into this topic and get ls wildly out of hand, ending up needing to be closed.

I for one am now treating any thread that mentions this drama as bait, that is better ignored than challenged, until the discussions become more civil.

Guys, I doont knoow if youve seen the new chapter but…

Is it just me or are new killers just stacked bejond understanding in terms of their kit. Trapper cant start with all of his traps but Dracula and Vecna have 3 powers in one.

Is this just literally powercreep or do they run out of ideas at this point?

I could be wroong of course. Dracula looks cool, I just feel bad for the older killers.

I think you're right... and I think it's because they are starting to hit the natural limit of what they can realistically do for killer powers now to change up the game, especially as anything radically different people don't tend to like on one side or the other. Look how polarising Chucky Scamper was.

Multi power killers allow them to add something unique to the killer, while keeping it weak enough not to be obnoxious, and buff other the killer with additional powers.

In Vecna's case his unique gameplay elements were the ability to pick back up pallet and play around his survivors items with the ability to disable them with Dispelling Sphere. If these were his only power they'd have to buffed to be anti-loop braindead ability and the items made trash... as is it requires careful timing and prediction still to use, and they're supported by a weaker Artist crows and a weaker Nurse Blink.

Dracula doesn't really have much unique in his kit.

    • The flame pillars are like a thinner Rite of the Damned, with a Nemesis tentacle pallet break.
    • The Wolf is like a shorter and harder to use Wesker dash with a bit of Oni tracking.
    • The bats are like a Spirit phase with Undetectable instead of movement speed with bit of Dredge teleporting thrown in.

Looks fun as a killer, but haven't seem something truly unique yet on him... though people finally got the animal killer they wanted 😁

I expect the Freddy rework to do something similar.

can we update the survivors? And stop making this game a killer game? Can we run faster? 2v8 is a joke. I run like a snail. And I don’t even have a chance to escape when they get me down. The gens need to stop taking 5 years as well. Let’s make this fair now. Ugh

You don't need to run faster, survivors in 2vs8 spawn significantly more pallets for them to use, to the point that if you know how to loop modestly well you should have a resource to use almost every single time.

As a result its actually much easier in 2vs8 to face killers 1 on 1, its only when 2 come after you that your options get really slim.

I'm actually looking forward to going back to 1vs4, cause I feel like 2vs8 is making me lazy as a survivor...

  • Even though I rather dislike this franchise, and have a whole load of nerd rage I want to say (Edit 6: and am really fighting to hold back)... Instead I'll say GZ FNAF fans.

I hope BHVR go hard on it, do the idea justice and manage to make it more appealing to old cranks like me.

  • Just want to point out that DBD and FNAF are global entities enjoyed by people across the entire world.

The political viewpoints/actions of an individual specifically in the United States are not really relevant in this context... especially when the actions of that individual were not illegal in that country (funding a political candidate is not illegal).

I don't agree with the political opinions of a lot of people across the world, but they have a right to those political viewpoints in their own country. I wouldn't for example expect a francise owned by an individual from Iraq, who supports politicians advocating for Sharia Law, to be boycotted from business discussions by BHVR for their perfectly legal political viewpoints in their home country.

Believe me, I have no love for FNAF or Scott Cawthorn, and I really don't want it in DBD; its actually in my best interest to support this narrative.... however to think the creators political affiliations, and them exercising their right to support those political views is relevant here is a little immature.

  • Believe it or not, not all killers are sweaty tryhards.

Some of us just want to have fun with chases, develop our skills and play the game out normally. When a player leaves prematurely the game is basically over and players like this no longer have any interest in continuing to play out the game.

Ironically the only people you punish are the survivors who want to try to win, and the killers who try to make a game of DBD and don't play uber sweaty.

Whenever a player quits now, I basically continue to play normally up to getting two hooks on everyone. Anyone else who quits, I let them and take a third hook stage off them. Anyone who keeps trying to play (or politely asks to be let go), I'll let complete the gens and leave, or get hatch.

Quitters ruin games, and there is literally no excuse for doing so.

Even Skull Merchant, you may hate playing against her, that is a reason to quit, but it is not an excuse and has no justification.

I have more respect for someone who says "I don't care about everyone else, I hate her that much that I'm saying damn the rest of my team, I'm leaving", over someone trying to justify quitting just because it's Skull Merchant, or whatever reason they come up with.

Leave if you want, but don't try to justify it.

    • Helps you understand the killer powers, and you get to directly see how other survivors deal with you.
    • Helps you understand the killers game plan and why certain decisions are made.
    • Changes your perspective of the game to a more balanced point of view, and makes it less "personal" when you get targetted.

I personally try to target roughly 40 secs of looping the killer. If between the 2 hits I can buy approximately 20s, then I feel Ive done my job, and anything beyond that is a bonus. This also includes managing to waste carry and walk back time. If I can go down somewhere where the Killer has a bit of a walk to hook, and then a bit of a walk back towards the rest of the team, then it's a job very well done.

Honestly when you get this mindset, other survivors will typically be what annoys you over the killer... it's very rare I get mad at killers now xD

  • ... Am I the only person that thinks it doesn't look at all like what it intends, and instead it just looks really dumb, to the point of being almost funny?

I genuinely barely even register the intent at all, and just watch them waste an extra 3 seconds making themselves look like a complete idiot...

I know other people have real life horror stories for themselves or the people they care about that may make this hit different... but honestly, I really have to squint and lean to the side for it to look even remotely like the intent... and it still looks like such a weak attempt to force that idea, that I just can't take it seriously…

I found an old thread during my research and it looks like it impacted people here. I just wish it sounded normal 😕

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/320686/what-is-up-with-the-audio

    Yo Count,

    How you getting on?

If you're still having issues you can try resetting your headset:

    https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/troubleshoot-playstation-wireless-headsets-/#reset

One thing that would be interesting to know is does the issue go away if you turn off 3D audio?

Extra points if you run it on Unknown and with Insidious.

I absolutely LIVE for faking out survivors pretending to be a fake, they eventually try to use a flashlight to see if I am a fake, it doesn't work, and I hit them anyway when they walk up to dispel me. It doesn't always happen but when it does, I get SO happy.

    Pffffft, that's hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • I played all day yesterday and had like a 70% escape rate. The games I lost were usually my team literally not touching gens (I mean seriously... I had 1 game where 3 gens got done... I did all 3, and I was getting hounded and pushed by the killers constantly through the game). Any time I got a halfway competent team, I breezed through.

In 1vs4 I've had days where I seemingly can't do wrong and escape back to back to back. I've had other days where I simply can't get out no matter what I do after 20 games.

You have days where you dip sometimes in every game, not necessarily through fault of your own, but in my experience the biggest factor is tilt. Once you're tilted you play terribly, and can't even see that you're doing it.

My advice is if you're losing regularly, take a break. Take the time to make a proper lunch, watch a few YouTube videos, just take 15 mins to reset. It makes a world of difference, and you'll play a lot better.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/422839/new-scratch-mark-update

Because you are simply wrong? Just don't run. Survivors that play Stealth know when to run and when to walk, and often mix the two up in ways to mislead the Killer. Clearer scratch marks actually make that easier.

Thankyou for this, while all the points about consistency, the degrade of scratch marks over the years, accessibility, etc are absolutely valid points....

I was still stuck on "In what universe do you run when you're playing stealthy?" 🤨🤨🤨🤨

  • You guys know you can put down your item immediately and check for Weave Attunement right?

You now have a choice, take the item to the corner and leave it there for later when you need it, or try and consume the item before the killer finds you, then ditch the item.

I still maintain Weave Attunememt itself is not why anyone is mad. It's simply that everyone hates Franklin's, they always have, but Franklin's was kinda weak as a perk. Weave Attunement makes Franklin's viable, thus people hate WA.

If WA has to be changed, one thing that would help out soloQ would be: you see the aura of the item when it's revealing you.

  • Some pretty wild takes in this thread. Fun read.

I have this exact one. It works amazing on both Nintendo Switch and PS4. It is absolutely garbage on PS5. I had to make a custom audio setting.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BSLLNDXDL3YF/screenshot-20240803-053645-chrome.jpg

Hmmmm... I have the same one and no issues for me 🤔🤔🤔

  • Hmmm? Muffled? That's odd...

What kind of headset do you have? You should be able to plug any standard 3.5mm jack headset into the controller and get full audio for PS5. If it's muffled, the standard check I'd make is ensure you've pushed the jack all the way in.

Or is your headset USB? USB headsets I'd imagine would need to support PS5 with an appropriate adapter, but if the headset lists that it supports PS5 it should be fine.

There is the official Sony headset, but although they don't expressly say it (marketing 😏), any standard headset should work as normal with full features. (Though, to be fair, Sony's Pulse headset is very good).

The PS5 does have customisable profiles for 3D audio though that modify the sound output to account for the size of your head, ear shape, bones in your face etc to make aound more immersive. This feature is new, so maybe you've just got a configuration that is bad for you?

    Try alterimg/setting that.

doubt it. they already changed those. remember those drones used to be much better at detection because they worked through floors and had bigger radius. they also scanned everything the area and didn't crouching immunity.

BVHR at one point talked about that killers have certain design goal and skull merchant has meet her design goal. She is intended to play how she is but BVHR also prioritizes survivor's fun over killers. they don't mind trimming numbers even if it makes killer bad while keeping design goal.

Much as I wish they'd juat clean up some parts of her kit, I do have a serious concern you may be right.... 😒

  • Sad, was hoping for PTB Knight to come back, but guess it's a Sadako situation...

  • For anyone needing the source:

    Untitled Image

Good to see Twins getting another look, and Cenobite needs some love. Hopefully Skully doesn't get completely neutered.

Hillbilly though? Unknown? Plague? Quite unexpected...

Regarding the OP... Distortion doesn't tend to bother me as killer. I don't camp or tunnel, but Distortion basically makes it guilt free for me to tunnel. If I'm using an aura perk, I'm not gonna waste time hunting for a Distortion user ahead of the players I can find.

I used to avoid it, but I've actually lost games altuistically ignoring a survivor I could have gone after but left them to inatead try to find the rat. I now take the opinion "if you don't want Cheryl to die, someone is gonna have to show themselves now".

No, no issue with Distortion for me as killer…

... But I ######### hate it as survivor. I hate Distortion users about as much as I hate people who drive in the middle overtaking lane on the motorway and refuse to change back to the inside lane...

They make the rest of us do the work for them because they are too lazy/incompetent/selfish/cowardly to do their part. You can always tell a Distortion user by the way they play, and they're always the players that make anything you do/achieve by and large pointless, because none of the time you buy is converted to anything useful while they crouch behind a low wall doing nothing for minutes on end.

I would love it to be changed to recharge from in chase.

If you aren't camping a hook, this does literally nothing to you.

It's still in the survivors' best interests to get their teammate off hook as soon as possible, and (supposedly) the killer isn't camping, so you're out pressuring survivors.

Literally nothing changes in that scenario.

The only time this affects anything is if the killer is waiting around the hook, or waiting to go back to hook. If you aren't going to pressure the survivors actually doing gens, that's basically camping or proxy camping. In which case, this change should make you really consider going and pressuring survivors who are actively doing gens.

    Well that's not entirely true...

It gives a little bit more time and safety for survivors to complete gens, and gives a little bit more time to complete resets before they have to go for saves. Might be a little more beneficial for SWF than SoloQ...

That said, I don't think it's gonna be this catastrophic game breaking change. It'll make a slight difference, and it nudges killers to getting more out of splitting pressure instead of camping... but I don't think it's something that fundamentally breaks killer, especially given vast majority of killers have been getting not insignificant basekit buffs over the past 6 months or so.

I think the 60% kill rate is still BHVRs target, so if there is a major shift, we'll see further changes down the line.

  • It does, so does the Xbox.

The technology is exactly the same as PS4/XBone... neither company updated it sadly 😒

To avoid it I would suggest getting into the habit of -

    • Wash your hands with soap before you play.
    • Buy some alcoholic wipes and wipe down the controller and around the sticks after each session.

(To be honest, this is also a good set of habits to get into for maintenance of a PC mouse as well... the crap that gets in between your buttons on a mouse... 💀).

If you do get stick drift, it's not too hard to disassemble and clean the contacts, though in my experience it's better to just replace the petentiometer completely, you can buy a pack of 8 PS5/Xbox joysticks with 2 potentiometers each for like £7.

    This video explains it:

So I recently enabled cross-progression to transfer from Nintendo Switch to a PS4 that I bought long ago and barely touched.

I bought the digital DbD game on ps4 and repurchased the DLCs I needed and paid $80 for an online membership.

Today, I ordered the PS5 and it should be here Friday.

When I get the console, do I just login to the PS Store and download the ps4 edition, then upgrade? Or do I just downloaded the PS5 version and forget about the ps4 edition?

Any advice would be helpful as I'm not familiar with much other than Nintendo and I want my PS5 to have all the progress from my Switch that I synchronized with my ps4 last week.

I am excited for you... I imagine as a battle hardened Nintendo Switch DBD player, you'll come onto a Next Gen console and just start dunking on everyone xD

  • I am envious that you can look at that with such innocence and blind optimism... that's the real dream.

  • @SkeletonDance said:

Complete rework with the same concept of drones but instead of staying one place, they fly around looking for survivors

Not to be a party popper, but what exactly would these following drones do? Reveal the survivors location permanently until disabled? Zones a survivor or inflicts a wound?

One sounds like a far poorer version of her current power that you could acheive easier by just revealing survivors on her radar... the other sounds a bit like Knight offhand, which I don't think will address her popularity issues...

As much of a broken record as I'm sounding now, of all suggestions I've read on Skull Merchant, VomitMommy's suggestion is the one that appeals most to me:

    • Nerf: Broken removed to encourage attempts from survivors to heal. This creates more macro decision making for SM to switch chase to a scanned survivor while they are still injured. Also allows survivors to decide to deliberately eat a scan to remove their stacks while SM is occupied to try and mend/heal.
    • Nerf: Slow on clawtrap scan reduced to 5% hindered (was 10%) to reduce its obnoxiousness but still cause slow vaults.
    • Buff: Speed standardised. While any survivor is scanned SM gains 3% bonus movement speed. While any survivor is claw trapped SM instead gains 6% movement speed. On average she moves faster to maintain her threat.
    • Nerf: Drones that are disabled cannot be recalled. This allows fast drone hacks to be rewarded by disabling the drone over the tile that Skully can't undo, and also have a purpose in hacking drones to limit her drone availability.
    • Buff: Auras of disabled drones marked in red. HUD improvement for Skull Merchant to make decisions.
    • Buff: Drones recovery reduced to 35s. Offsets the fact she can't pull her hacked drones back.

There will be people who still don't like her, but it seems healthier overall to me.

  • All fair enough... guess that's on me as I tend to follow the bloodpoint bonus anyway, and haven't really noticed at the times I've played....

    My bad 😅

  • @Krazzik said:

I mean it's gonna come back with more content and balance changes, but having it as a permanent mode would kill the game. Killer queue times in both 2v8 and 1v4 are pretty bad.

Is that true for you? In my experience and listening to the voices in the forums, 2vs8 needs far more survivors, because survivors are focusing on 1vs4,meaning more Killers are needed there...

Has there been a sudden massive uptick of killers overall with the release of 2vs8? 🤨

  • No. No different to drawing a dot on your monitor with a marker, and you can't be policed for that. It's a standard functionality provided by the platform the game is released on, so you have no concerns for bans.

Personally I've always considered it kinda lame; I consider the lack of a crosshair to be part of the game, and a skill in of itself to learn... to subvert it to my mind is going against the spirit of the game...

However plenty of people do it with no way of me or anyone else knowing who does and who doesn't, and no amount of disapproving finger wags from angry cranks like me is gonna change it... you could even argue it as an accessibility feature if you squint hard enough, so...

If you wanna use it, knock yourself out 😁

  • Appreciate the effortbput in, and if I trusted traps to spawn somewhere I can realistically use them consistently... I might consider it... but I really don't have faith in that...

Also this basically take all decision making out of Trapper's hands, which is probably the most fun part of his game. Setting a trap in an odd location and having it pay off later in the game is so cathartic, it makes eating 6 pallets leading up to it 100% worth it.

I'd argue Bloody Coil is kinda necessary for Trapper, one of his best add-ons for limiting survivors ability to follow behind him and disrupt his traps.

In fact I'd lobby for a portion of Bloody Coil to be made basekit, by allowing Trapper to spend a little extra time when setting a trap to rig it, so that disabling it wounds healthy survivors.
