Absolutely not. Myers does not have a strong base kit, but there are worse. Underestimating a smaller terror radius on maps with los blockers is silly, it can be very useful, and the window vaulting being faster can make a difference if you mind game correctly.
Off the top of my head Legion and Trapper have a far worse base kit. One can’t kill in their power and the other will lose 2-3 gens to set up their power. That’s just a quick thought, debatably there are other worse than Myers, but he most certainly isn’t the bottom of the bunch.
-
I wouldn’t run Ruin with gen blocking perks like DMS or Deadlock. You lose a lot of the value that Ruin provides in regression, and survivors will be incentivized to find ruin even more since gens are blocked. Pain resonance and DMS are a great combo though.
-
How to counter Boil over
- Walk to hook
- Hook survivor who wasted a perk slot on a massively overrated perk
- ????
- Profit
-
Six slowdown perks, because why bother trying to learn how to play, the game can hold my hand to victory.
-
Legion or Trapper. Legion is worse if there’s 1 circle of healing, since their whole kit is based on hit and run, which is negated by CoH. Trapper has a stupidly long set up before his power even comes into play, and still could yield zero value if survivors don’t run to your traps.
Honorable mention to Clown and Wraith.
-
It absolutely will still be a top 5 perk. Providing a heal to everyone for one perk slot is ridiculously efficient and kills the hit and run play style entirely. Just because it lost at most 3 seconds from the heal speed is almost nothing.

I mean yeah. I always wondered why in people's minds, tunnel/camp = ######### killer so they get harassed for it in end game whether it be the endgame chat box on pc, messages from xbox or playstation players or however epic games/microsoft players get it.
Like IMO tunnel is just a made-up term for people to cope and put blame on the other player. Since tunneling literally is a synonym of the phrase "Tunnel Vision". True tunneling would be literally focusing someone out of the game and ignoring everyone else unless they are an obstacle in the way of you getting to them. Let's say you get into a team fight in something like overwatch or league. Would you not go for the weaker person that's in an easy to reach place to make the fight easier for your side of the team? Of course not because you're doing what you need to win.
Tunneling is most certainly a thing in this game. Some killers will ignore a free down on a survivor they aren’t chasing, just because that person annoyed them. It happened a lot with old keys, killers would just focus that 1 person and not hit anyone else. It has become a very overused term, much like gen rushing.
Some people just dislike strategies they don’t use. People in Fighting games get mad if you dp them over and over, even when they keep jumping. A lot of people on DBD dislike playing the most efficient way possible because it’s boring. Having 4 minute games or just sitting on a hook or gen isn’t very much fun.
-
First, if this is the most toxic community you’ve ever been a part of, you mustn’t have played online gaming for long. Shooters pre 2010, MOBA’s, BR’s, FG’s, all have just as bad, and if not worse communities.
Second, referring to no other community getting mad at people for playing to win? Ever heard or spamming, camping, picking op heroes, using broken items I could go on, but I think I made my point. As long as there is variety in play styles, people will take issue with conflicting styles.
Finally, why only reference what survivors complain about? Killers complain all the time about Dead Hard, CoH, BT, DS, Unbreakable, etc. Both sides have things that people dislike.

Yeah that's a fair point but these things arent hard to do or figure out, using twins as example he cant vault/break pallets which renders him useless. Same goes for vaults as you arent even in a chase.
I always hate that verse solos argument though, like if you know how to play you know how to play and should play differently verse different killers. If you arent playing differently for each killer it's your fault if the killer wins.
Survivors for the most part have the control, I only play solo and honestly the only reason I tend to "lose" is due to a DC/people giving up, mismatched mmr or my team simply didnt do gens for whatever reason
Edit: my main point though is if that's the case of killer balance why are so many still so bad at high mmr? Remember wraith was nerfed, he wasnt OP at high level if anything he was somewhat balanced
I’m just addressing the Twins nerf, and the devs referring to high MMR as the cause for it. I don’t recall specifically the reasoning, if any was given at all, as to why Wraith got nerfed.

Yeah they dont do that sorry, but you cant say all the killers are made to deal with high mmr players by base (which they claimed twins was)
But twins, if it's even true they are so powerful at high mmr is a killer that often gets very few hooks for that 4k.
I dont see the twins as a treat at all in any game, even if they're good. Good knowledge can easily beat twins imo
Good knowledge can beat any killer that’s not Blight or Nurse, that’s how this game is. Unless you’re super lucky or running a 4 stack SWF, Twins are really good. One mistake and they can snowball the whole game super fast. Twins are insanely good at high level, check out Swish’s tournament on Ohtofu’s channel, Twins were by far the best performing killer.
It doesn’t matter what people consider fun, fair or enjoyable play style wise, looking at a it from proficiency at killing, Twins are high up there at high skill levels.
-
Maybe here’s a thought, they try and balance around ALL skill levels. Perhaps those add ons were far outperforming at a high level, and didn’t change much at low-mid levels. So if the nerfs only affect high MMR killers and not others, it’s fine that way.
-
Bond: Friendly survivors now have a symbol telling them they’re within Bond range. Not only could this let people know you’re close to help out, they’ll also know I can now see the stupid ######### they’re doing.
-
I wouldn’t say this is just recently, I’ve had this happen a for at least a few weeks now. My experience is that it seems to happen depending what time of day I play. Early morning and late night I get anywhere from people who are on their first game to 3k hour vets. It seems to be more consistent late afternoon to early evening for me.
-
I’m going to stop debating why killers a what tier they are now, as most here just want to reassure their own confirmation bias.
I will say this, you need to watch every killer for his explanation as to why each killer is where they are, not just hot take after looking at the end result. Tofu’s explanations as to why he put each killer where makes his choices a lot clearer. He ranks killers very highly on chase potential, and mobility less so.

I hate to inform you of this but you clearly haven't played a lot of slinger post nerf if you believe any of that
Sorry, those points were referring to pre-nerf Slinger. He doesn’t have all that anymore, which is fine. He doesn’t need all that to still be a very good killer.

Dude Deathslinger was never considered S Tier(Let alone A tier) even before the nerfs by anyone who plays killer as he was simply too slow to win most games as speed is considered the best stat in the game for killers and he has the worst overall speed in the game.
He's obnoxiously slow as he has the highest amount of self slows in the entire game at NINE from his power let alone for a 110% killer.
He also can't defend generators very well nor can he reach generators further spread out then a hard 3 gen.
He wasn’t considered S tier by some, and IMO those people were wrong. I’ll go over some of those now.
- 110 isn’t that big a difference from 115. Can it effect some loops? Sure, but it’s not like you have Nurse walk speed.
- He had a 24m terror radius, and with monitor could go down to 16, which was smaller than his spearguns distance (18m)
- Instant usage of a power that could not be reacted to. You could guess when he’d use it, but then it’s just a mind game in Slingers favor, heavily so.
- Can’t be looped anywhere but safe pallets, and those would have to be predropped.
People underestimate how impactful winning 1v1 is, and slinger was top 4 in that department, he’s now just top 10. The reason Blight and Spirit are so good is they have mobility AND chase potential. Wraith is extremely mobile but can’t win chases quickly, and is usually considered C tier or worse. Winning chases is the name of the game, and Slinger is a top 10 killer at that, even after his nerf.
-
Honestly, I can’t complain about his thoughts on most killers. Twins is crazy good, and the ridiculous downplaying most do with them is hilarious. I agree they’re top 5, maybe not 3 but Victor is one of the strongest powers in the game. I’m also glad to see Billy and Slinger up there, as both are still very good killers. People like to over exaggerate their demise. Billy and Slinger both just went from S to A tier killers after each of their respective nerfs.
Was a good watch, like to see other people’s opinions who know the game.
-
Oh no, somebody got looped, clicky-clicky’d and crouched on!
Maybe the killers aren’t good?
No, it’s the survivors being op.
-
That’s a mental state that the community enforced upon itself. If you feel bad about the game as killer when you don’t 4K, you should reevaluate. There is no real win condition for either side, so people just assume a 4K is a win, and anything else a loss. That’s not the case, the game has far more nuance that performance should be judged as successful or not, not just did you 4K/escape?
Killer can be just as rewarding to play when you don’t 3-4K, or heck, get kills at all. Making insane curves, cross map hatchets, max distance Victor lunges, perfect long distance 1 blink hits as Nurse, I could go on. Point is the perception that anything but a 4K is failure is purely a community mindset as I said, and it needs to change IMO. Making outplays and improving as a player should be the goal, but people just want that 4K, since that’s what they see on twitch and YouTube.

And yet maybe the fact that you feel the need to do this immature act could use a lesson in growing up?
Ah, the timeless no you argument, the sign of a mature and well adjusted individual. I have seen the error of my ways. No longer shall I crouch, as I dare not ruin the safe space of video games. I will refrain from hurting the feelings of snowflakes with my display of mastery over the cntrl key, thank you kind sir.

Do you really not see the problem with "I know this will upset people but I think it shouldn't, so I'm going to upset them"?
No, because I’m a functioning adult who knows that it’s just a video game, and has no impact on real life. If you’ve ever played sports, guess what? There’s a whole lotta trash talk.
If you find crouching in a VIDEO GAME somehow a problem, I suggest you grow up, and realize it doesn’t affect you in the real world.

It may just be good fun to you, but it's extremely disrespectful to other players. Just a game? Yes. But a joke is just a joke that can be funny to some but extremely offensive to others. Do you get what I mean?
I do, but this isn’t real life. Making an off color joke to someone’s face is a whole lot different than crouching in a video game. People who find anything in this game offensive need to reevaluate their life priorities. That may sound cruel and dismissive, and it is to a degree, but it still is just a video game, if you find someone spamming cntrl in front of you a personal attack, you may need to grow up just a little bit.
-
I do it to wind people up, because it will normally throw people off their game. As for the exit gates twerks, I just like being antagonistic, but in good fun. DBD is just a game to me, so I don’t get mad at anyone who hits me on hook or t-bags anywhere, so I hope people move on from it as well.
-
So you got butthurt that two peoples used troll builds and crouched. Then decided to write a small novel detailing it. Seems they did get to you.
Anyway nobody did anything wrong, no one cheated and both sides used available game mechanics and perks. My suggestion, don’t worry about what other people think so much, it’s a video game.
-
I think as with most games it’s an issue of sunk cost fallacy. When you spend time on something you want that time to be fulfilling, and if it’s not it leads to frustration. Couple that with most people have inflated ego’s when it comes to skill and how good they are even more frustration is had.
It isn’t exclusive to DBD either, fighting games, shooters, and MOBA’s generate just as much salt, if not more than DBD. I believe it’s also due to a lack of maturity. Myself as an example, I’d get way more frustrated when I was a teen, now I don’t care, if I get frustrated I quit and go do something else.
-
First I’ll start with this, play however you want,l. If you’re not cheating, everything is fair game.
With that out of the way, I’ll say I hate twins, with a passion. I believe the Victor nerfs did not go nearly far enough. Victor has no counterplay and has a truck sized hitbox. He can respawn in 6 seconds if crushed, which is insanely short. Victor is old Legion, he may not be time efficient, but he has no counter play and you will just go down regardless of your input. That’s the kicker, Twins lack really strong pressuring tools, but have one of the strongest chases in the game, top 5 easily. That makes the experience a miserable one for the survivors.
The chase is the best part of the game for a survivor, and killers that remove any thoughtful play are disliked by the majority (Twins, Slinger, Spirit).
-
Saving a teammate from assured death situations. I don’t know, like a meat hook, or a cage, something that would require a teammate to intervene to prevent death.
Nah, too crazy.

I think the video from PixelBush demonstrates the issues with this system better than Scott's did, sorry Scott.
Probably, I just had his stream on when he did the testing, so I thought of his vid first.
-
Thats a video from Scott Jund, showing that you get the miss animation if the server rolls back your hit, not the successful hit wipe animation. If you are getting the full animation it is a bug, and taking a video of it and submitting it would be your best bet to get it fixed.
-
Don’t focus on kills or who escapes. Try to get kills but don’t stress over it, and don’t take clicky-clicky flashlights and t-bagging as insults, just friendly trash talk. Maybe even have some music or tv show/movie or stream on as well. The game is only stressful if you make it, you’re not a content creator, your lively hood does not depend on how well you perform.
This is to all players, killer and survivor; play how you want, but don’t condemn those who play differently. Have fun with the game, and if you don’t do something else. Go for a walk, catch a new tv series, masturbate, do something that is enjoyable to you. I personally love to lift weights, so if DBD is getting me down, I go bust out some squats or bench presses, and boom, my day is better.
-
I think the point being made is going over peoples heads. NFT's are currently pointless, and merely to brag you have an excess of money. Here's the question though, where do you draw the line on items that are produced at the cost of the environment? Useless NFT's? Fancy T-shirts? Poor fuel economy SUV's?
The point is all these sudden eco warriors are posting on a forum, for a game that is a massive luxury, essentially wasting energy. Does it pale in energy consumption to NFT's, yes, but if you are truly that much an eco warrior why are you using energy to complain about using energy? People getting upset in this thread missed the point.

Wait, are you using "growing up in the late 90s and 00s" as some sort of an argument? As opposed to what? Being 10 years old because you grew up around 2010s?
It means kids who play this game now have much different standard to what is toxic/bm. Most are used to the safe space culture, and as a result think anything besides a pat on the back is toxic. If you played any early 00’s shooter, excluding everything else, you had to have thick skin.
I’ve played this game for 2k hours since 2017, and have had only a handful of truly bad chat interactions. To add to that, I’ve had 1 person tell me to kill myself, in the hundreds if not thousands I’ve played with. That was a daily occurrence back in the infancy of Xbox live.
My point is that people who make these posts need thicker skin, and need to realize the internet is the Wild West, be prepared for the worst of the worst. Nothing someone says means anything, their angry rants at you should be laughed at, because you made them made at a meaningless game. You’re no less valuable as a person because a keyboard warrior tried to flame you, and no one is judging you based off of a trial in DBD, not anyone’s opinion that matters anyway.
-
So many crybabies lol. It’s just a game, getting clicky-clicky spam, t-bags and hook camping don’t matter. Growing up in late 90’s -mid 00’s online gaming, this is a nice community.
Everyone just wants their safe space everyone hugs it out games. This game is FAR from toxic, and if you think it is, don’t use the internet, your feelings might get hurt.
-
Run Lethal Pursuer, Corrupt Intervention, and get better at chases. If you can't get a down with those conditions you should not be complaining about gen times.
-
It’s not a good early game perk, it’s a powerful mid to late game perk. You need to set up a patrol area with gen placement and create dead zones near your set up. Then Pop shines and can be very oppressive.
-
Longest was from right after legion until a bit after Plagues mid chapter. I find taking a few month break every couple of years keep the game fresh. Most of the time if I was frustrated with something after a few months I don’t care anymore, and just chill out in general.
-
All bubbas use speed limiter and endfury? Because that’s what I use, so then everyone uses that by the logic of the thread title.
-
I wouldn’t say all those things are crutches by default. My thoughts on crutches (in games in general) are the effect a game so substantially that without them players who use them would perform significantly worse. Usually the positive effect they grant are so great that a player who isn’t that skilled can have a much larger impact in the game they are playing.
I don’t want to go into specific perks I feel are under that definition, but perks/items do not all have the same impact on a trial. Take for example, sole survivor compared to dead hard, or a ranger med kit compared to a green key.
-
I don’t believe that to be true. I will say most people misuse the term, but it is possible. Bringing BNP’s and gen speed increasing builds, splitting up and trying to end the game in 3 minutes is definitely a thing. Just doing gens isn’t the problem, it’s when builds increasing gen speeds are brought in a coordinated group that is true “gen rushing”
-
Headphones make a huge difference. It could be a little as hearing grass rustling as killer, or hearing the breathing of Pig or Myers.
-
Some quick tips of the top of my head
- Don’t be afraid to lose a gen or two at the beginning, as killer this is your weakest point. Losing a gen will happen early, don’t panic and keep calm.
- Plan your chases based on location. This takes time but knowing what is or isn’t a good chase based on gen location, loop strength and survivor positions is invaluable.
- Learn how to run basic loops (long wall, LT’s, short wall etc. this goes more to point 2, knowing how to run a loop gets downs quicker, taking a survivor off a gen.
- Where you hook. Pick a spot that will put survivors at disadvantage, but doesn’t waste a large amount of time to get to it.
-
Anyone who thinks DBD was better, more fun version didn’t play much back in the day. Sure, people usually didn’t know as much, but when you did find people who wanted to sweat, no thank you. Killers have so much more at their disposal, and so much less problematic aspects to the game.
-
Nothing, I usually ready up once I’m in a lobby without looking at the survivors. Most likely I have a tab open watching YouTube or browsing some website, like these forums.
-
The problem is, I have no idea how to fix the complaints with Deathslinger without homogenizing or neutering him. I have a bunch of ideas, but it would fundamentally change how the character plays. So I've just come to the point of accepting him as the most hated killer to face,\
-
So without watching you play I can’t offer any detailed advice, so here are some general points.
- Scout the area you are in. You can be the best looper around, but if you’re in a dead zone that doesn’t matter.
- Identify killer tendencies. Do they like doubling back, faking double backs, etc. Learning mind games at what tiles will help looping.
- Decide if you want to just pip or get as many people to escape as you can. Sometimes if you want pips you need to play selfish, maybe even sandbag someone.
- Learn tile layouts and how to loop each one. Expanding point 2, you need to know what a killer wants to do to loop longer.
- Do not waste your speed boost from taking damage. Unless the have a 1 shot power sometimes taking a hot a getting to a safe area is better than trying something fancy. Running in a straight line and predropping pallets is very effective, even if you’re average at looping. Don’t try and run circles when you get hit, have a plan where that speed can get you.
- Last point, don’t sweat ranking up. The more you stress about it the worse you’ll play. Play loose, and play for fun. Try silly builds, make goofy plays and you’ll be surprised how that can help your attitude, and by extension your gameplay.
-
For sure, I think they just didn’t realize how strong these could be together. You just die when you’re not near a stupid strong loop.
-
Complaining about the knife reduction? Really? He could down 7 survivors if he hit all knives before, and he can down 7 survivors if he hits all knives now. All that changed was time to down, which was reduced, meaning he got buffed.
Y’all fail 1st grade math?
60/8=7.5
44/6=7.3
Where’s the nerf exactly?
-
Pharmacy, Botany Knowledge, Ace in the hole, Desperate measures.
-
I don’t use any exhaustion perks, I find them all boring. I’d rather use other perks that have other benefits throughout the trial besides run fast for 3 seconds.

Only baby Survivors expect the Killer to leave a kill when the exit gates are open, which, with many meta Survivor perks, means he will not be able to re-hook that Survivor, and probably give up the kill.
But that's what your post is; shaming Killers into playing stupid so Survivors can get away.
The exit gates are open; the Killer would be stupid to give up one kill for the possibility of another. But the Survivor mantra 'It'S oNlY oNe KiLl! StOp SwEaTiNg! 🤪' always hangs heavy in the endgame collapse. But it's never 'It's only one escape; stop trying to leave!' Nope! Only the Killer is supposed to let off the throttle.
'Stop sweating the kills at 5 gens!'
'Stop going for ONE KILL when the gates are powered! It's only one kill! 😱'
It's like Survivors think they can't be hooked before 1 gen pops and after the fifth gen pops (Look at all the NoED 'The Killer already lost if the gens pop!' BS), and actually expect Killers to follow these made up rules. Because it makes the game easier for them.
Who said to play stupid? I said it’s reasonable to take another chase if the survivor was hooked on the proper hook. If done right you can usually trade 2 hooks, which earns higher blood points AND emblem points, which helps towards ranking up. If kills are your metric for success, than I fundamentally disagree, and so does the games current ranking system. Baby killers care about getting that 1 kill in egc, good killers know multiple downs and hooks are far better, in every regard except ego.
Get over your presumptions I’m forcing made up rules on people. Killers can play however they want, survivors can play however they want. Good killers know and understand how the game works, and camping the last hook is a baby killer play. Baby survivors just leave the trial, or camp exits gates instead of going for a fun play and the save. Both are boring to me, but completely reasonable in the realm of the game.
Final note, if you are sweating at 5 gens, or popping all the gens and leaving right away, I disagree with your mentality and hope to never play you again. Killing and escaping are not a win condition, it hasn’t been in a long time, and even then it barely was.
