This has been an entertaining read, thank you to all involved.
Also, rank doesn’t mean #########, once you know how the emblem system works, it’s easy to pip, if that’s your goal. Most people can get to red ranks, it’s not hard.
-
The one true exhaustion perk is head on, all others fall to it's glory.
I do see dead hard as the current most used exhaustion perk, but is was that way after the exhaustion rework and before people realized how broken balanced was. I also see people run none of the big 4 (DH, SB, BL, Lithe), like myself quite often now.
-
Pig stun, it's too cute, and the leather noise from crouching with Ghostface, very pleasing to me

Can you explain how you, personally, find her more enjoyable now that she spends an additional portion of her time in cooldown and has lost most of her map pressure?
Legitimately curious.

She takes thought to use now. Previously Nurse was just too easy for me to enjoy. I had to intentionally not try or goof off. Now I actually have to aim my blinke properly, and react correctly to survivor jukes. She doesn’t feel like pure easy cheese anymore, I enjoy the challenge of properly using her power. Even without add ons she was way, way too easy to succeed with at a basic level.
Nurse only lost her map pressure on large maps, that’s it. She still dominates smaller-medium maps. As for the cooldown, I feel people were just used to an overpowered ability, and refuse to adjust.
-
I completely agree with the addons, I feel like they couldn't come up with anything, so just made random effects. Half of them are just a joke, but again, I feel that's a larger issue. Multiple killers have addons that will never be used outside of just memeing, Nurse just has it worse.
I also agree she lacks map pressure on large maps, but so does Huntress, my main. It's just how DBD is, some maps are just kinda free for one side, which is why it's bad map design.

I just don't create a thread everyday about her and whine, but i still think the basekit nerf was too much. Just stating she's fine now is not a way to make people shut up, that actually play nurse.
The main issue with nurse is, that her cooldown hurts her chase potential AND her map pressure. She would be fine if the cooldown would apply on hits or swings. Dedicated server issues are just a part of the problem.
She's not bad, just boring, because you need to use two specific addons against good survivors, and incredibly unfun, because you get punished heavily for using your ability in any way.
I'm a 1k hours nurse main, both sides red ranks btw before you ask or assume.
So first, fun is subjective. Saying you find her boring to play means nothing, I find her fun now, and and absolute bore as she used to be. Anytime a character's power level is brought down in a game people will find that character to then be possibly unfun. But I digress, my point is the enjoyment you get from a character is not a direct correlation to their overall potential.
Secondly, I don't really care how much time someone has put in the game, or a killer. All I care about is a reasonable and intelligent discussion on someone's point of view. I know the forums have a ton of knee-jerk hyperbole, trolling etc. so the prefacing of experiencing in game seems necessary at times.
I think the Nurse is fine as is, basekit and addons. The issues she has are game wide, and hurt other killers too. She suffers on larger maps now, all but a few killers do as well. That's part of the reason Ormond and Red Forest are so survivor sided. Dedicated servers, as I mentioned before, are also a big hit to her. The thing was is she was so powerful before, she just ignored all the balance issue in maps and gameplay. I understand why some may not enjoy her anymore, she did actually change quite a bit. I believe, for the overall health of the game, the changes were needed.
-
Nurse is no longer talked about because she’s in a good spot balance wise. People finally got it in their heads that whining about her being “unplayable” wasn’t going to change anything.
The issue with Nurse now is her interactions based on dedicated servers, but she’s not the only one. Michael and Huntress are also highly affected by the new system as well.
To anybody saying she is bad, she is not. Nurse is still the single strongest 1v1 Killer in the game, period, no debate. Her 1v4 was toned down, and this made bad players think she’s bad, when in fact she’s still the overall best killer in the game.

You just admit that survivors are immortal, if they go to strong loops.
Depends on the loop. Things like the Asylum most certainly are broken.
I know you kinda troll a lot here, but binary statements like yours don’t work well with a game based on so much rng.
As for keys being worse than mori’s, meh. I think both can be unfun, and most forums tend to have a stronger killer presence, hence the appearance of killer bias.
-
I don’t like to farm, it’s very boring, though I have no problems with people doing it. As a survivor I’m just gonna hug gens then leave. Killer I’m still gonna hook people, I’ll make sure to 3 hook, but beyond that you’re on your own.
-
One is no worse/better than the other. The are both parts of the game. Is it unfun for the side experiencing it? Sure, but Neither is inherently toxic.
-
No, absolutely not.
People really need to stop whining about swf. It's just a paranoid excuse for playing poorly, or getting bad rng/maps.
-
Don’t care about pipping, play to have fun. The stress is all in your own head. Only got 9k and didn’t get a down? Who cares? Got a 4K in 3 minutes? Who cares?
If the the only way to get enjoyment for you is to pip, or 4K then you probably will always stress yourself out. Otherwise play to have fun and don’t care about the result. Try different builds, strats, looping paths, mind games.
Take breaks as well, if you’re not enjoying yourself, why play a video game?

I did run an obsession perk.
One failed attempt I did not see the obsession at all until at the exit gate. The other one I cant really remember - maybe I saw them once but wasn't able to down them.
I could have used a mori that's true. But I like the simplicity of my 'one and done' hooking strategy.
Someone else mentioned using Nemesis. I don't have that.
Ah, I could see that. One of my games I had 3 bledettes, lucked out the first was my obsession.
-
How did it take 6 games? Honest question, once I started the challenge I finished it in 4 games. How did they escape a face camp, especially from Bubba? Also mori’s, much easier to tunnel and kill the obsession, and if they dc, still counts.
-
So for OTZ and Tru, their kill rates mean nothing. Both have thousands of hours in the game, and are both skilled to boot. They will both naturally do well, and get a high kill percentage of they try to win.
I will agree that dedicated servers have made a lot of little things very annoying as a survivor. Dead hard becoming exhausted on the ground, and the aforementioned window and pallet hits. I don’t feel this is a particular side bias though, just bad programming/coding/design that hopefully gets ironed out in the future.
-
Billy’s chainsaw has no noticeable Cooldown? Do you only use bulb and Thompson’s? But you’re right, Billy needs a Cooldown timer on his chainsaw, it comes up too quick. Also he should only be a 110% movement speed killer.
Its unfair for Legion to be alone.
-
I wouldn't say he is top tier, but definitely underrated. With the right build and strategy he can limit a lot of options. But top tier, not really, he still is perk and add on dependent in a super bad way, so in my mind he can never be the best if that's the case.
-
BL is just a win more perk now, and not worth taking. For stealth sure, but even then I’d rather quick and quiet, which works everywhere, and I can run and reuse it.
Honestly exhaustion perks are massively overrated. BL was only good thanks to the stagger reduction and bad map design. It’s useless on multiple maps, and you have to handicap yourself on others. They made it a garbage perk again, it’s more or less a meme perk now.
-
Live in an endlessly repeating cycle of despair and pain, only hoping that one day I’ll be granted the sweet release of death.
-
The hallowed blight was NOT fantastic, it was a well meaning train wreck that turned into farm and die 2018. I personally am glad they’re ditching the events of that kind, they were bad and completely changed how people played, and not in a good way.
-
I feel the only real loss was her control on larger maps, which is fine. She has potential to end chases very quickly due to avoiding what other killers have to be aware of. I feel she’s on par with Huntress now, still good, just struggles a bit on larger maps.
I will say though, half her new add ons are terrible, and I really don’t know why they exist. Like why do I want more bp for blinking through someone? Or lose the ability to blink and become man with a machete, just why?
-
Once I load into a lobby I just hit ready, and go back to watching YouTube or listening to music until I’m in game. I don’t care what survivors bring, who they’re playing as or whatever.
Though if I do see a strode realty key offering, I’m just noping out of that game.
-
I completely agree. It’s just not a fun perk to play against. I used to run into a player that would let you know in lobby that he was running it. Then start crouching if the killer was coming your way. That was in solo with no communication, in swf it’s just miserable to vs.
As for perks, third seal and distressing are not counters, they mitigate some of the effect, not counter it. Also, they’re both kinda bad perks, and killers perk slots are at a premium.
Finally, if you enjoy goofing off with it, that’s fine, doesn’t change the fact it’s an extremely unfun perk to play against. To top it off, most who run it use purple flashlights, or old insta heals. It’s just generally used as a means to only try and make the killer miserable.
-
I don’t see how Micheal isn’t viable, due to this change. Tier 1 Michael is only truly effective vs newer/not highly skilled survivors. It was never his most powerful loadout, so it being slightly less effective against 2 perks doesn’t mean he’s all of a sudden awful.
-
Honestly, it would be an ok change. The mind game is still there, it’s just a few seconds instead of forever now, like it was before. As long as it’s still an omnidirectional whoosh, it’s fine.
Though I feel it’s probably a bug, considering the troubles this patch has had.

Honestly, no. Do I think they're dumb to play against? Yes, and I would love for them to be reworked into something interesting instead of just a insta down. The thing is, once you know she has ihead, you just change you loops to force her to M1, to the point of refusing to even risk taking a hatchet. Count the number if she waste them, she's pretty much done. The only real issue that comes up is if the Huntress mains use it, as they will likely be far more accustomed as when they can hatchet in a loop.
I feel that babushka+mana grass are still her most powerful combo, as it allows you to cut some loops short you otherwise couldn't/get easier hits with fully charged hatchets.

I've been on the fence with this change as I do see both sides. Unfortunately, there's just no good way to fix this issue that I can think of.
Pretty much the conclusion I’ve came to as well. There really is no way to make the system work well with swf, it’s just a unfortunate fact.
@twistedmonkey said:
Sorry but your post doesnt make much sense as it was never about rank 1 killers facing rank 19 survivors as that obviously will be easier for them.
The change was made as peopl3 complained a new killer and newish killer players in ranks 19-10 could face swf with rank 5-1 survivors due to people chosing to play with friends.
Right now higher ranked killers can have an easier time of it but for notlw at least it has reduced a lot of the swf are op posts.
It does make sense. I’m commenting that killers praising the change, then saying how good they are at the game are hypocrites. The game got much easier for good killers with this change, but not in a good way.

@EldritchElise87 said:
So low ranked survivors can't learn and get better against higher ranked killers, and thats because the killer is bad?
bruh.
Not what I said, or implied. I was commentating that most killers said this change was good, when it’s not. It’s a lateral movement, from bad to bad in a different way. I was being hyperbolic to make a point, people who say this change was good are not good at killer, because it’s aimed at low ranks, yet everyone here usually states they’re rank 1 and never have issues getting 4k’s.

They are awful at the game, but they don't care to improve so they blame others for their misfortune, as long as it benefits them. It's the way of the world, and it happens even outside video games, sadly. As long as the change keep them happy, they will defend it, and I don't really blame them at this point. I don't like the change, but I'll deal with their SWF in my survivor, and killer lobbies till the Devs see the statistics of how its hurting them more than helping.
When I first started playing I got introduced to the 4 man SWF flashlight sweat team just like everyone else, but I learned how to adapt, look at a wall, look up, bait the pick up, slug more of their team,.. Like is that really that hard? looking at a wall... It took a google search to learn the counter plays for ######### sake. If any of you ######### killers reading this just run lightborn, because what I laid out right here probably still too hard to understand.
The same applies to every dam tile of wall on the maps to ensure hits and better mind game. Like if you can't even get to red with freaking google and youtube, and all the dam meta builds holding your hand for ######### sake, I don't know if you ever will get there. I'm sorry If I sound like a douche bag, but I'm tired of all the crying and the inability to adapt.
I wish you all the best, and please use google search if your not past rank 8 on killer after at minimum 200 hours, and that's being generous with time.
I hit rank 8 after about 20 over two weeks split between both sides. Ranking isn’t hard if that’s your goal, it’s a terrible barometer for skill, which was one of my points.
-
Identifying as either "main" just means you're a twat. People cry on both sides and it's really sad to see. As for the whole "you need me" thing, no, they don't. There are plenty of players like myself who play both sides equally (look at the other responses in this thread even). If all whiny "mains" stopped playing, the game would probably be better off.
-
Getting tunneled and/or camped sucks, it really does. The thing is, if the survivors are skilled enough/ have the right perk load outs camping Killers can get punished hard. Outside of the Nurse if you have awareness as to where you need to loop, most times you should be able to delay for 2-4 gens. If you're getting tunneled blow all the good loop pallets, waste as much time as possible, you're going to die, accept that and try and make it so as many of the other survivors can get out.
-
First slugging will cause multiple people to be in a close vicinity in order get the res, which is required without unbreakable. Slugging was just an example, which you asked for one besides hook camping, which I gave. That was the point. Sorry you got lost.
As for why the 1 gen buff is op, it makes pallets nonexistent. Moving at 115% while revving, not stopping once a pallet is chainsawed, gaining speed while chainsawing AND having a longer duration while chainsawing. In his base kit. No addons or perks required. That would be like giving the nurse NOED at 1 gen for nothing.
I’m kinda done, at this point you just want people to agree, with out any critique. On top of that this is pointless debate, it’s theory fighting on non existent buffs that will likely never happen any way. So peace I’m out. -
So does every survivor run Unbreakable? No, so then how do they get back up? By being healed, wait for it, by another survivor. Also, ignoring his potential to prevent unhooks is silly, just pretending it isn’t a factor into balancing is short sighted.IronWolf115 said:@TruEternity said:
1. You want him to be able to go through pallets without stopping while chainsawing, on top of having a longer chainsaw time, and a faster rev up, and no penalty to movement speed while revving so it would be much stronger than Spirit fury ever could be.Slugging, bodyblocking a risky gen, it doesn’t happen often, but it can, and does.
Yes you have to be very close, but with all the buffs you suggest, that would not be hard.
Legit, all Killers are close range besides Huntress, you might have meant low mobility, but I digress.
I do believe LF could use some love. For example make his revving walk speed 100%-105% and the Chili’s have a larger impact on his acceleration. I don’t feel him insta charging-sanic running-kool-aid manning pallets is the way to go.
Do you not understand that he would only be able to go through pallets when there is only one gen left?
Slugging has absolutely NO impact on whether he will hit multiple opponents with his saw, ANY killer can slug. Not to mention they are nerfing slugging next patch
Getting close would still have it's challenges for one simple reason: I have proposed NO mobility buffs for him, you would still have to chase down survivors with no help from abilities like Nurse blinks or Billy's dash or Hags teleportation
I read the whole post, I just point out your 1 gen buffs because they’re unbelievably op, the rest are just as silly as well. You suggested a free add on pretty much every gen completed.
I have another LF change in keeping with the movie; once the gates are powered if Leatherface doesn’t catch a victim within 30 seconds a truck pulls up and any remaining survivors can jump in and drive away. -

So you think giving a killer who has a the ability to one hit multiple people in built Spirit fury and Fire up is remotely close to balanced? I get it’s not exactly that, but holy hell, does anybody know how to think up buffs that have some semblance of balance? LF needs some buffs, but “He looks in a survivors direction and they explode” is not it.

@TruEternity yes but how does one git gud at nurse? I've tried many times to do so but I guess I suck with her? Idk man is she add on reliant or something?Practice, if you're on console more than Pc, but that's about it. It take a little longer to learn her but it's not nearly as steep as some make it out to be. Use 3 blinks, Dark Cincture and Catatonic Boy's trinket are very good add-ons and only uncommon. Mostly it's just experience with the game, and how people react to you. There are usually two types, those who double back and those who don't. Identify survivor patterns, that's about it really. Mostly if you want to learn with her just stick it out through the good and bad. My first matches as Nurse were solely dedicated to learning her blink range/charge, barely hooked anyone but just kept learning.

Nurses nerf? good joke honey, this is survivor side game always, the trapper still useless, the spirit need more buff, freddy is just trash.... the cooldown restore when u are hooked is a huge buff for survivor, the 1.5 inmune to damage another huge buff when u are unhooked.... the devs still buff the survivor moreThe Nurse is massively OP, people like to deny it because they are lazy, want a braindead killer and easy 4k's. I've played all Killers at 1, even Freddy, and had good games and bad. Most Killers should be around Billy level, Nurse far exceeds that and needs to be brought in line.
As for unhooking, the reset is a buff, but not that huge. The immunity on the other hand only lasts until their feet hit the ground and have control again. If you really relied on hitting defenseless players for downs, get better at killer.
Trapper is fine, mid tier killer, he's not in a bad place. Spirit is also fine, buffs are all good in my book but people far exaggerated her problems. I've played around 60 games as her since she dropped to fair success, against rank 1's and all.
Mostly my point to you is this; Git Gud

Hag buff, Trapper buff, huge nerfs to some looping spots(Fractured Cowshed, Rancid Abbatoir, Gas Heaven, Wretched Shop and Groaning Storehouse). Pickup speed buff(killed most flashlight saves unless you’re brain dead).xxaggieboyxx said:
They have also done a lot of nerfing to killers. Why shouldn't killer be buffed? Isn't this supposed to be a horror game not run in circles game? What nerfs have we got to survivors recently?... exhaustion and pallet vacuum. That's it, the rest just buffs like losing exhaustion when hooked. Can cancel the unhook really fast. Pallets drop faster.(they can't even nerf survivors without buffing them) they took tinkerer away from killers and made huntress worse then when it backlashed they quickly changed it back. Nurses lunge is bad.(although I'll admit it makes her semi balanced having a garbage lunge) buffed wraith then "tweaked" is movement speed when uncloaking so he barely can catch up to survivors with the best swift hunt add on. If I'm missing any survivor nerfs tell me because I forget things tbhSenzuDuck said:@DeadByFlashlight said:

Yea, they never do any changes for killers.Yes, I bet this hotfix will be example for the huge killer buffs several times in the following weeks

They've pretty much done nothing but buff killers for months.
edit: they nerfed bloodlust which is a buff to survivors making it easier to loop
Bloodlust nerf was irrelevant, either you’re trolling or suck really hard if you go past BL 1.
Hook changes largely did nothing, so what if a suvivor can cancel the animation at any time, and if you are trying to tunnel the hooked person, get better at the game.
Pallet drop change was for non moving survivors and fractions of a second difference, basically did nothing to 99% of games.
Nurse is OP af, she needs more nerfs honestly.
The Huntress change was unbelievably stupid, good it got reverted.
Tinkerer was really only good on two killers and they didn’t need it. It’s change was stupid but basically irrelevant. It went from a meh perk to a meh perk.
As for it being a horror game, unless you are a complete wuss, what movie/game is scary after the 1000th viewing/playthrough? None for me, so I see that point as a weak argument for whiny killers (not calling you one) to justify their position.
The game is still survivor sided, but significantly less so than a year ago, or even six months ago. If you think it’s still the same you haven’t been playing very long, or just aren’t that good. The game has been moving in a good direction since they became self published, so I’m hopeful for the future.

I agree, most likely we’ll just get another perk that attempts to bandaid some problem with balance, and have it called good.Master said:@TruEternity said:
Nurse does need a nerf, she’s the killer equivalent of SB-SC-DS survivor. Anyone saying she is fine loves their killer crutches just as much as survivors love their own. I would personally like to see her blink range cut of half.As for not not seeing her much 1.Rank 9 is not where nurses are loaded, all killers are still easy to get 4k’s there 2.Console, poor performance and controls make her harder to use.
If all the survivor crutches are removed and looping is fixed, then of course nurse needs a nerf. But lets face it, its not gonna happen

-
Can we knock off this bs notion nurse has a stupid high skill floor. I’m an average at best nurse and can easily kill 3 a game at rank 1. I haven’t put a ton of time into her, maybe 20ish hours at most. 3 blinks or fast 2 blinks is just way to easy. She will always counter windows and pallets, which will keep her viable.
Billy is more of where most killers should be at, good map pressure and chase potential but still counterable. Against a Nurse all you can do is hope she’s bad.
