I would if i knew how to change topics on the forums.

If what you're saying is true. It's horrible game design

The good thing is that they could in theory change the values of the mmr-system quickly. But i dont think they would risk it.

i never even said that nobody knows?

but most of the people don’t and they just assume because they think they are top skill players.

You said "while we actually don’t know how MMR is calculated?"

I thought with we you meant the entire community.

  • Officialy nobody knows how the mmr works. And even if someone knows, you are not allowed to discuss it on this forum.

I heard from some people that if you lose bc of weak teammates, you get even worse ones. So it probably doesnt take this situation into account. You should post this in the feedback section.

  • @Mooks said:

Did you notice how many people claim they are playing on high MMR while we actually don’t know how MMR is calculated? I have seen many of them claim they know they are high MMR because they had so and so many 3-4Ks before and all… but the devs have actually confirmed it’s not based on kills/escapes alone…

How can you be sure that nobody knows how mmr works?

But the chance is high that OP doesnt know his rating.

  • Dont remind me that its pointless on console.

yeah ive done that as well but theres still stuff like lockers next to windows (since fast jump into locker is the same as vault window and this cant be changed) as well as recovery on the ground being the same as jump into hatch. (See first vid) Same on the killer side pick up survivor being the same as vault window (the classic)

But is the pick up thing possible on pc? If you could change the pick up, the cj-tech would be impossible.

But going to those good places is kind of the mark if a good survivor. True on good chase doesn't mean much but if your consistently running long chases then it doesn't really matter why your running 4he killer for a long time what matters is that you do

Running shack or just dropping the pallet immediately, is a big difference. If we talk about a 5-gen chase, then it really doesnt matter. In a comp scenario it would be the right play to drop the pallets immediately, so we even could say thats skill.

But if every survivor gets measured for their chases, i would just run atraight to the killer at the beginning. Then i would have all pallets available and would get the best chase.

  • The problem with measuring chases is that a longer chase doesnt need to be better. There are many factors, which need to be considered:

The place: looping around an almost completed gen or an hooked person is not good

Ressources: if you use every good pallet at the start to get a long chase timer, everyone after that has shorter chases, even when they are more skilled

End of the chase: doesnt matter if the killer drops it or gets you, if you lead the killer to an objective and he interrupts that, it is a bad move. You could equip bond and run to other survivor and easily escape the chase.

  • @Shaped said:

    Depends.

You can rush gens but if you 3 gen yourself and your team is full of not so good loopers, you will probably lose against experienced killers. Also not taking aggro or letting someone die to push gens can backfire.

Tunneling/camping works if people are bad loopers/don't do gens.

It can work but depends on the situation and your oponents.

I mostly agree with your points, but tunneling is even a good strategy, if they are good loopers. I mean it doesnt matter whether you tunnel or not, the chase will be difficult, so with tunneling, you need atleast only 3 downs. But if they are really that good and you have a weak killer, you probably should hook in a good position and camp. You would get more kills that way.

Finally I managed to escape! and I had to try very hard with a meta build and the best medkit. Every single match since Tuesday has been like this.

It's not funny to play a game like this.

    Streak ended after 24 defeats

Its obvious a low mmr-match. So the problem is simply that the system doesnt care that you cant carry 3 teammates. So you do better than the others, but that doesnt matter, bc you will die and lower your MMR. Then you get worse teammates and repeat. Its hard to get out of this cycle. That means if you want better teammates, you need to increase your mmr with swf.

The pig was really bad, but she needed to hook almost everyone twice before killing and make some horrible mistakes, so you could escape. And you played decent in chase and did 3 gens. Thats how bad your teammates were and if you would have died, the chance is high that the game would have thought, you are on the same skill level as your team.

    god bless my soul !!

saying that .. in forum .. full of sweaty killers ;(

The us vs. them mentality helps nobody. About the topic: fun is subjective and so its for everyone different. So if for someone means fun to give his best, then so be it. It would be optimal, if the MMR always matches similar players with each other, but sometimes it doesnt work and then you need to deal with it.

Another question: why are you write like this: then this ... and that means ... . I know someone who writes also like that and its really hard for me to read it. So is there a reason?

The fact one would always end up hitting Rank 1 with enough time is what demotivated me. Well, that and the fact I struggle with a stupidly competitive mindset, which is something I need to keep in mind, because the second I begin to care about personal performance, pips, ratings, is when all fun stops for me and DbD really isn't built for that with all the RNG and general nature of SoloQ when playing survivor.

How are your games so far, do you feel as though your personal performance impacts the quality of your MMR and thus teammates?

I thought it was balanced, then rank reset happened and i got suddenly bad teammates again. I normally like to be competitive, but i never cared for it while playing survivor. You depend too much on your teammates.

Now i will test some new information about mmr and hope i get better teammates again.

No, Frosty eyes belong to the N&N (New and Noed) association.

  • I think if your friend stomps weak killer too quick, they dont get a good mmr-rating.

After rank reset (i know it has nothing to do with mmr) i suddenly get almost always a weak link and it makes it really hard to escape.

  • @Clowning said:

I wouldnt say pips were really important for me, bc i always reached rank 1, but i still preferred a pip over a depip. Now with MMR i want to do everything to get good teammates next match.

The problem is I have been trying to play fair, no tunnelling, no sweat. However this gets you nowhere anymore in this game. I was hoping playing fair would drop me enough to carry on playing like this and still have good matches. Unfortunately though it's not working.

Every survivor who knows how to sit on gens, is better than a killer playing for 12 hooks. But pre-MMR i did meet enough survivor, who couldnt do that. Maybe the game think you perform well enough or more survivor have learned what a gen is, so there is noone left.

  • @Purgatorian said:

I have lost about 90% of my matches and still getting 4/5 games with a 0k, possible 1k.

You may, or may not, get more balanced matches unless, like me, they decide to send survivors more than triple your skill level.

Seriously, over these past three days I may have got a 2k or more on about 5 of them after roughly 40-50 matches.

I have a feeling they take the average from the 4 survivor. Too many matches, where i have a clear weak link.

Those were examples of what I've seen today. Just noticed everyone is bringing the big guns and I just want to have more fun. I'm sure the opposing side is having a lot more fun than I am it feels like.

But this are not really the big guns. If i would get this perks against me, i would think the killer takes it easy. I get Corrupt, Ruin, Undying, Pop, Tinkerer most of the time. And im not even on a really high level, bc i see many different killer.

I tested 20 matches and got a 50% escape rate. So if you play how you want, the game should give you killer, which match that. But it could take a while. Maybe play normal and never escape, but nobody knows how the mmr works.

  • Maybe 500k for each role. But honestly i dont care much. They should change how to get perks and make the grind about good addons and offerings. And then nobody needs millions of bloodpoints to get the one perk, they want.

Shards as reward would be nice, but then they would lose money. In the worst case they make more new skins auric cells only to avoid that. You get enough shards right now for killer/survivor and shrine perks.

  • I switched vaulting etc to R3 on ps4. Did it kill me many times? Yes, but i think im getting better. Switching buttons is hell, but you will overcome it.

You are trading a 50/50 chance with Spirit to a permanent speed boost and permanent invisibility with Wraith. I personally think Wraith is as good as Spirit if not better.

Its not really a 50/50 with spirit, if she can track you. And you really underestimate how strong loops are against a good survivor. There is a reason why wraith is not used in tournaments.

  • How is that a challenge? If you play like that you get lower mmr and weaker survivor. So you will always get around 2 kills or whatever the game sees as a draw.

Every handicap means nothing with mmr. You would need a handicap which let you struggle to get a draw against the weakest survivor, then it would be a challenge.

My very first post would be enough for you to understand.

Your first post translates into that: wraith op, no counterplay, thats toxic (weird definition of toxic) and i want a nerf.

I wanted to show you counterplay, but you dont want to learn it.

You admitted that wraith is not even close to the strongest killer, but you still want to delete a part of his power.

I have no idea what you mean with toxic.

  • Which one? You said wraith shouldnt be able to do it bc no other killer can. I replied: "But to be fair you can run past a survivor and block the pallet with every movement ability. Legions frenzy, Billys chainsaw, Blights rush, Spirits phase etc. But instead of doing that you can just attack the survivor directly, what makes it a straight upgrade compared to wraiths power. Well, except legion, who cant down with it."

You didnt answer, so i guessed you had no problem with my argument. Or which reason do you mean?

  • @Voodoo_Thirsty said:

That's still your projection to another individual. Whether or not you find a certain behavior rude, I never mentioned someone's intentions as a personal reflection of that person's character.

And regarding experience, I agree, but I also don't look down on others just because I play more than them. I criticize their logic, not their playtime.

Like I said, his buffs made it more PREVALENT, not that it never existed. And yes, though it could be considered a nerf, just because something becomes more "fair" (imho), it doesn't make it unjustified.

Whether it's justified or not is more of a personal reasoning.

    Why is it more fair?

  • Grades have nothing to do with MMR. You can easily reach iridescent grade with really low mmr. Its just shows your playtime.

  • @Voodoo_Thirsty said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2491172#Comment_2491172

I never stated you were rude but... whatever. Looks like some has their knickers in a twist. As for me, I don't use petty ad hominems to get my point across.

You mention you being over 2500 hours and yet that's all you base your opinion on. You just keep emphasizing you played lots and good on you. I applaud that. But that still doesn't make you a connoisseur at DBD.

Now regarding M1, my point was the not all M1s are bad. You can reread my posts above. You keep emphasizing that they are, I beg to differ.

His body block became prevalent after this major buff. Before, he was too slow to even catch up. He was just an average chaser. Now, they made his map pressure high, stealth even better and gave him almost no compensation for making risky moves. He has almost no disadvantages at this point. He doesn't need nerfs, he only needs changes.

And if you consider my suggestion a "nerf" then so be it. I respect that opinion. Like I have done with many others before you.

No, imo its rude to disregard other opinions bc the other side is less experienced. So its rude from me to say your opinion doesnt matter bc you are a newer player. But with people like you, i cant help myself. I didnt say, you said i was rude.

I base my opinion on my experience and you base your opinion on your experience.

I say that killer, who doesnt have a power in chase (m1-killer), have a fatal weakness.

His bodyblocks were there even before the buff. And many wraiths used windstorm addons, so there was no difference to now. The difference is that they now can use two other strong addons on top.

Its clearly a nerf. Making a killer worse, is a nerf. Or what is the advantage of that? Phasing through bodyblockers to tunnel someone to death? I guess that could be kinda helpful, but i prefer to not tunnel. Bodyblocking with wraith makes him stronger and its something to master. Makes his chase more fun.

  • @Voodoo_Thirsty said:

You are all over the place. Can't really grasp your points thoroughly...

And FYI, I'm exactly at 674 hours, so I think I know what I'm talking about.

M1 killers are NOT terrible. You picked two killers out of 5+ examples I provided. That in and of itself proves that not ALL M1 killers are terrible.

And say what you want about the Trickster, MANY and I mean MANY would like to differ regarding his current state, but to each is own.

I'll disregard the rest of your points because they're pointless and merely an assumption of my capabilities & my playtime.

To let you become more enlightened regarding this thread's topic, I'm specifically mentioning changing his collision only.

    No speed nerfs.

    No perk nerfs.

    No addon nerfs.

and frankly, I don't think this'll be THAT big of an issue people make it out to be.

No, im not all over the place. Im rude, thats correct, but you are the same. I take the time to address every point in your comment, but you ignore the ones you cant counter. Then alone in this thread you have many people, who disagree with you, but you still act like you speak for the majority. You are deaf to every other opinion except your own and so its pointless to argue with you. So if you want a discussion just answer to my points. I make it easy to you. And fyi i have over 2500 hours.

    - m1-killer your examples: Trapper, Shape, Doctor, Legion, Clown & Ghostface. Doctor and Clown have a chase power. Spirit needs also to m1, so having no m2 damaging move doesnt makes you an m1-killer. Ghostface can atleast expose people. And i should have added legion to Shape and Trapper. Trapper has his bear traps and isnt really an m1-killer, but hes weak and you can counter his power pretty badly. The thing is that i wouldnt say wraith is weaker than any of them. But he is also just average bc he is a weak chaser.

    - his bodyblock nerf: its one of his strengths and removing that would make him weaker. Its not unfair, you can counter it and its not op. So why should you remove it? Other killer can do it and you ignored this point of mine completely. So there is no reason to remove it.

  • @Voodoo_Thirsty said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2490924#Comment_2490924

See, this is why I commented on your logic.

If a killer is the only killer that is able to do something the rest 99% of the roster can not do then yes, of course it should be looked at. Why would you NOT want consistency? What, to feel special when you play Wraith? GTFO.

And just becuz he's A, doesn't mean he's tournament worthy. Hell, there's Spirit, Nurse and Blight who are MILES better, why on earth would they choose Wraith to win a competition? Silly logic there.

You also mention his disadvantages: being a M1 Killer, weak against SWFs and can be lightburned. Let's take a look at these 1 by 1 shall we?

Being a M1 killer - Doesn't mean jack %#$^. Trapper is M1, so is Shape, Doctor, Legion, Clown & Ghostface and they're terrible. Average, but no terrible like the Trickster (whose not a M1 killer BTW).

Weak against SWFs - FFS. This argument is always with Killer protectors and sympathists. Listen, SWFs are NOT the majority of the DBD playerbase. I believe it was lower than 5% the last time I checked. It's mostly solos or duos, and I doubt they're as good as a 3 man or 4 man SWFs. So stop complaining about a niche-as player group who you rarely come across with.

He can be lightburned - A terrible, not to mention unlettered argument that also applies to the Hag. NOBODY brings a flashlight knowing who the killer is. If we were able to do that, of course this argument would make sense, but the truth of the matter is, it's not. Besides, most of the time survivors bring medkits instead of flashlights. Hag enthusiasts also argue that flashlights counter Hag traps, but like your argument, it's a fallacy and needs to be fact checked. Nobody is going to cross their fingers when opening a chest hoping for a flashlight in case they didn't bring one and the killer "happens" to be Wraith or Hag. That's just stupid.

And judging by your list of disadvantages, he's not bad at all lol. Just reinforces my argument, thankfully.

Your logic is flawed. Should we remove long-range-hits bc only huntress can do it? Or was billys one-shot bad and suddenly when myers got introduced it was okay? Killer power should do different things. So its good if a power allows a different playstyle. But to be fair you can run past a survivor and block the pallet with every movement ability. Legions frenzy, Billys chainsaw, Blights rush, Spirits phase etc. But instead of doing that you can just attack the survivor directly, what makes it a straight upgrade compared to wraiths power. Well, except legion, who cant down with it.

"Being an m1-killer is not terrible." And you list some of the weakest killer in the game. Trickster is since his buff clearly stronger than trapper and myers. He is average, not them. Trapper is the weakest killer in the game. If you cant see why m1-killer struggle, you have probably less than 200 hours.

Im not complaining about swf. And true solos matches are roughly 50%. The point is still that a stealth killer is not as strong when you know where he is.

And sure lightburn is not the strongest disadvantage, when nobody brings a flashlight. I can still mention it. It was never my intention to say that this kills him.

But i see whats the problem. If you dont see what problem being an m1-killer is than you are probably new. And its true that wraith is a good noobstomper. If you dont want to listen to my arguments and just call them silly, so be it. With the new mmr i get teammates, who know how to play against wraith, so its not my problem. But i never saw wraiths in my 20 matches since mmr anyway.

So whatever, believe what you want and have fun.

  • @Voodoo_Thirsty said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2490849#Comment_2490849

    Great logic there.

Instead of actually finding a way to balance the game, you advise people to find a way around it.

Plenty of streamers, professional DBD players and other proficient players continuously stated that Wraith is A and up when it comes to tier and potential.

I have no problem of him staying there, but he's the ONLY killer to move faster than a survivor and outrun them to a pallet. If he has that advantage, at least you need to give him some disadvantages to compensate. That was my initial argument.

You have really great logic there. If one killer can do something others cant, remove it? Why do we have different killer then? Bodyblocking a pallet is not op and you can counter it. How is that badly balanced?

"Plenty of streamers, professional DBD players and other proficient players continuously stated that Wraith is A and up when it comes to tier and potential."

Show me proof. If that would be correct, why does nobody of this professional players use wraith in a tournament? Wraith as low a tier is a stretch and even then he doesnt need a nerf.

You want disadvantages for wraith? He is a normal m1-killer in most loops, weak against swf, can be lightburned.

I only advise people to learn the counterplay for a killer (what they should do with every killer) and after that they can argue whether something is op.

  • This video could help: https://youtu.be/4RekOHmFzb4

If you've just started it may be a little rough for a while. With sbmm though it should start matching you with newer players too.

Take your time, remember your mistakes and you will slowly learn how to mindgame and how to loop survivors. Monitor their patterns on how they loop.

You are basically in the training phase if you are new and will take a while to start processing everything, especially if frustration takes hold.

Just play for fun and focus more on getting bp for perks rather than a 4k. Mostly, remember it's just a game. If it starts angering you too much turn it off for a while and come back later.

Leatherface first for bbq, hag for ruin, doctor for pop. Bbq really helps getting bloodpoints, ruin and pop for slowdown. Best thing to do is look up a list of perks and see which ones you like. Beware there are some not very useful perks too lol.

Also don't try learning killers with their strongest addons as these won't always be available to you. I like trying to learn new killers with yellow, green add ons to begin with.

Clown for Pop goes the weasel, not doctor. Hillybilly for tinkerer would be also good.

He has a massive speed boost when he uncloaks. What do you mean his chases are average.

Preventing him from body blocking is the point here. His chases aren't going to be any different.

His speedboost after uncloaking is most of the time useless in a chase. Its a really weak chase power. If you want to know how to loop wraith, then there are plenty of videos. You could watch Otzdarvas yesterday stream, where he tries to find the best build for every killer. Just do the same as the survivor he plays against and every wraith will suffer.

  • If the loops are this strong, a killer needs a power to counter it. If a killer wants to win he needs a hit every 30 sec. in a chase, most likely less. Your goal as survivor is to delay the killer and you dont need a 5gen chase for that. So the chase needs to be in favor of the killer.

But killer power should have counters. Not like release legion.

you can't derank anymore. and if people can't decide what's a win for themselves, then... well, you know how to uninstall the game. We've had it for long enough that people do everything to stomp weaker players, and right now, they can't do that.

What are you saying? You can easily derank. Just be afk or dont hook and your rating goes down. Then you can stomp weaker players and make the match hell for them.

    Not deranking grades doesnt matter.
