And here I thought they learned their lesson after "unhook 2 survivors safely during EGC" challenge

The only issue I have with skillchecks is that they're harder on newbies, so you might get a lot of deaths at yellow ranks that would otherwise have been prevented.
I know I would have died by accident a lot.
Those skillchecks occupy like half of the skillcheck circle. You'd actually have to have your eyes closed to miss them.
-
I don't see why this isn't in the game already. It's such a basic thing, too.
At least get rid of the constanst reminders that "HeY YoU HiT LEvEL 50 LIkE 234712458 BlOodWebS AgO MaYBE YoU'D LIkE tO PrEsTigE AnD WaStE AlL ThAT fOr A CrAPpPY 'rEwaRd'??". Yes Dead by Daylight, I know that there is a feature that lets me completely waste my millions of bloodpoints. It's a bad feature. No thanks.
-
Maybe let's tackle the issue at its' core, rather than trying to implement band-aid fixes?
Making all killer offerings hidden doesn't solve the gamebreaking nature of moris.
Making all map offerings hidden doesn't solve certain maps being survivor sided.
Changing the way moris work ACTUALLY fixes the core issue.
Altering map layouts and structures/loops ACTUALLY fixes the core issue.
-
You can just run up to him and let him hook you, then just suicide on hook.
-
Actually, pipping as survivor is rather effortless. The requirements for a black pip are so low that you have to actually go out of your way to depip.
Red ranks are full of people who still play like they have only just bought the game. The rank reset basically achieves nothing, because you can casually go back from rank 5 to 1 in just one day. The ranking & emblem systems really achieve nothing.

Devotion fixes that, forget about the hours then but reward the vets!
I can already see streamers like Edgar who's at devotion 18 right now just running 22 perks on survivor/killer. And he's not even the one with highest devotion, lmao.

Imagine if Ebony Moris were as rare as streamers. Now that would be something "Ultra Rare".

Ouch, the edge though

And yet survivors fall for it. Survivors dum dum.
They just should get better at doing coinflip decisions. Silly dum dums

Standing still is a mindgame. peepoSmart
-
You can't really force people to play the game.
Some people can't go against certain killers due to their own health; some people can't stand the look or sound of vomiting, so they do anything they can to not play against Plague. Some people start having headaches when going against Doctor, or the constant screen effects really hurt their eyes. Hell, some people can't mash buttons in a quick manner, because of certain health issues. Maybe bring THAT to the developers attention first?
In the past, survivors simply disconnected against killers that were straight up unfair and boring to go against (and rightfully so. Pre-rework Legion and Spirit were an atrocity. Spirit still is one, though to a sligtly lesser extent), or when they have their own specific reasons.
Now they can't do that, so they kill themselves on first hook.
If you don't let them do that, they will just tab out, and play a different game while waiting for you to kill them.
Believe it or not, but this is not a competitive game. You really can't compare it to games like League or CS:GO, because they are way out of DbD league. DC penalties are alright, and bans for taking advantage gamebreaking exploits/hacks are just. Anything beyond that is simply overkill.
-
Are those killers OP? No
Are some of them boring and/or uninteractive to go against? Yes
-
There's four that I genuinely don't like going against, but I can't really put a finger on which one I dislike the most.
The Spirit - this is probably self-explanatory at this point. I'd rather play a match where I actually have any input on the outcome of my chases, thank you very much. Her constant moaning also annoys me, because boy, is she loud.
The Funslinger - genuine question, why is his terror radius so wonky and inconsistent (and most of them having M&A to make it even worse)? Also I find that quickscoping doesn't really leave the survivor any mindgame or counterplay potential, similar to Spirit.
Freddy - it's something about Freddy players that they generally have the ability to make the match just so... boring. It's not a rare sight for them to stack slowdown addons and perks, and chases aren't particularly interesting against him either. Especially with snares, he can just spam those without any drawbacks, which is kind of silly in my opinion. In general I think Freddy's simply overloaded, and it's something about the way people play him that just makes the match extremely boring.
The Hag - I encounter Hags once in a blue moon, but the majority of them just uses the traps to facecamp people from a distance, which is kind of scummy, not going to lie, but also boring, because they usually never commit to chases (and that's the only fun part of survivor gameplay).
-
Short answer: No
Long answer: No, not really.
-
I'd be on board with Enduring affecting the DS stun.
However, I don't think it should affect Head On stuns. The 3 seconds (though it's more like 2,5 or even 2 seconds, since the survivor has to finish the "exit locker" animation first before being able to run and make distance) already doesn't let you get much distance if you even get to use Head On during a chase.
It's not even a particularly meta perk (I'd go as far as saying that it's mostly used for meme purposes), so giving it an indirect nerf really wouldn't really do it any favor.
-
His terror radius is definitely one of the wonkiest things I've seen in this game. It's like a M&A Huntress, except she doesn't have her humming, and her wind-up only takes 0,125 seconds, which gives the survivor as much counterplay and interactive chases as any Spirit with at least two working brain cells.

Well, there is some truth in his words.
Toxic people will be toxic, no matter the circumstances. If he wouldn't have used this addon, it would have been the killer he had choose to play, the way he playd his killer, or that he had play killer at all.
Some people are just toxic. Luckily not everyone.
Edit: Besides, I wouldn't make the mistake to say "no one enjoys/likes" until you have not speak with everyone. Sure, dbd is a small game, but it is still big enough to have a variety of playergroups, with different mindsets and thoughts. A "no one enjoys" is always a wrong message in a game of this or a bigger size imo.
Find me 5 people who genuinely enjoy going against iridescent head huntress. I'm fairly confident that saying "no one enjoys going against it" isn't a stretch, because I've seen many people agreeing with my statement, but not a single person ever disagreed.

When do they "play nice" anyway?
Not that I'm expecting them to ever "go easy" on a killer or something, because their job is to escape by any means necessary. It's just weird to me when people act as if they MIGHT have "gone easy" but the killer used X or did Y so suddenly the gloves are off and we're going to REALLY escape now, bucko!!
I don't really see that many survivors actively trying to be toxic to the killer, at least not until the killer himself acts like an ######### from the very start of the match. Might just be me being lucky though. I personally don't BM the killers, because I don't see the point in it. I might teabag them a little at the exit or give a snarky remark in the end-game chat if they were playing like a complete #########, but that's it.
Some survivors just act toxic for the sake of being toxic, but the same can be said about the killers. This community is already very bad when it comes to both sides just accusing each other of stupid things, when both are equally guilty and I believe there's no need to add any more fuel to the flames.
-
Overpowered? No.
Overloaded? Yes.
Has potential to be one of the most boring game-stalling killer? Also yes.
The problem isn't that he's overpowered, but that he just has basically 80% of the powers that any other killers have, all slammed together into one killer. He has stealth mechanics, a very unintuitive terror radius, can teleport to generators, giving him very good map pressure potential and mobility, has a power that directly helps him with chases, and passively ignores a large amount of survivor perks, while moving at 115% speed on top of that.
Some of this really needs to go. It's just too much for one killer, and isn't a good thing from balance perspective. Why would anyone want to play any other killer, if Freddy is good at everything and ignores survivor perks for free?
He's also very uninteractive for survivor's gameplay, especially the dream snares.

Don't feel bad for it. They would have been toxic even if you didn't use iri head.
It makes me feel like you consider a survivor toxic if they play the game with his monitor on.
Iridescent Head is an addon that basically no one enjoys going against; usually it's used by huntresses who just want to be ######### for no reason, or by bad huntresses that rely on the addon to get easy kills. That is why survivors more often than not won't be playing nice, if you're going to bring out the big guns on them.

With how bad the current reset works, you'd have to drop the game entirely for 3 months for your rank to actually drop any significant amount

There are literally perks in the game that 3rd party applications render irrelevant, freeing up the players to choose other options making the game much easier overall.
I know it's true because I also do it. But by all means, continue to feign ignorance if that's working for ya.
Still not a reason for trying to punish people for something that's been keeping the game alive. There are bigger issues that need attention, instead of trying to forbid people from playing with their friends, because some random Joe didn't get a 4k.

Shrine of Secrets doesn't have the perk I wanted it to have? I'm sure that SWF is at fault.

Lol, I hear this so often but missing the point of what DBD is about, time management, looping skills and information.
You're welcome to play with friends except using other software to communicate gives you everything except looping skills
How dare people play online games with friends while performing the most basic social interaction of all, which is having a conversation.

Love people that justify toxicity, must be toxic themselves. It's like the people that tried to justify basement body blocking, or Mori Cancelling. Nothing good came from either and now they're both gone.
It doesnt matter if its effective or not effective, whether or not you should be annoyed.
The whole flashlight clicking breaks the immersion of being a survivor
I think that playing the game any longer than 100 hours already breaks the immersion. This isn't a roleplaying game, nor a horror game; immersion is unneccessary in DbD.
-
How dare people play online games with friends.
-
I don't.
They're boring to go against as survivor, and I don't need training wheels to play killer.
-
A quickscoping Funslinger has just as much interactivity and mindgame potential for survivors as Spirit.
Unlike Huntress, Funslinger doesn't have a high skillcap either.
Practicing cross-map snipes and all the properties of hatchets depending on how long you wind it up and the angle you're throwing it from takes hundreds of hours on Huntress. Getting the hang of quickscoping with Funslinger only takes a few games.

Top 5 reasons why implementing DC penalties in the game's current state wasn't the greatest idea
Experienced that bug several times myself. Real fun.
-
Would you give a killer a debuff for facing four solo queue survivors?
No? Yeah, I didn't think so.
-
I think that killers don't really get "second chance" perks. A more fitting term would be "training wheels", and I honestly can't really find any example of those other than NOED and moris.
It's just kind of sad to see a killer that just isn't particularly skilled at the game get a 4k because he morid people off hook, or relied on NOED to do the job. It's kinda a pet peeve of mine, because I just don't view this game as competitive material, so using second chance perks on survivors or steering wheels on killers just seems redundant.
-
Forever Freddy is boring to play against, because gens are boring enough without any slowdown perks. But having to sit on one even longer, usually with Ruin skillchecks (which I can hit fine 75% of the time, but it can't be said for most of survivors I'm running into) and Freddy constantly just removing 25% of the whole progression? Yeah, no thanks.
-
Spirit isn't "too strong". She has a strong power, yes, since it allows her to traverse the map quickly and thus apply pressure (which is, arguably, the most important trait for a killer to have), but it also greatly increases her chase potential.
The issue lies within the fact that the survivors don't get any sort of feedback from the Spirit, while she herself gets plenty. Is she just standing still? Is she actually phasing? Will she come from the left, the right, from behind?
Survivors can't tell whether she is even doing anything; Spirit can see the environmental things such as grass/corn/bamboo moving, but survivors can't see them moving if Spirit phases right through them. Spirit can hear everything just fine, including breathing, injury sounds and footsteps, but survivors can hear Spirit's footsteps only when she's very close (and honestly, way too close for them to even avoid getting hit at that point). It doesn't feel like you're actually having your skill being put to a test, it's more like just taking blind guesses.
Nurse could for example be insanely strong, as she ignored every form of defense the survivors had as long as you were skilled enough at using her blinks, but she gave clear feedback on what she was doing. Survivors could see and hear that she's charging her blink, they had the general idea where she would blink, they could calculate the general range of how much distance she can go with her blink.
Despite being incredibly powerful, Nurse did give away hints and opened up potential ways of juking her; and if a survivor succeeded to do so, it actually rewarded them for their skills. When Spirit phases and downs you, all you can do is say to yourself: "darn, should've guessed bettter I guess".
-
I got to red ranks and after only going against billies and spirits exclusively, I decided to derank so I can experience the other 15 killers again.
The funny thing is that in many matches I could've not done anything productive, and still get a black pip. It's as if the only way to actually depip is to just DC or suicide on hook instantly, because otherwise you'll get golden emblems for nothing. I actually had at least three matches in which I never healed, took protection hits or unhooked someone, and yet I somehow got iridescent benelovent emblem. Nani?
-
Tbh my only complaint about Freddy is the 'forever freddy' build, which is just boring to play against. I mean, really, gens are boring enough to do without any hinderances, whether it being ruin or straight up slow-down, but with a full build dedicated to slowing down gen progress and constantly kicking them with Pop Goes The Weasel, it just gets so boring that you might as well just walk away and get yourself a snack or two instead.
Other than that, there's an issue that seems to be a trend with newer killers. Have you noticed that Freddy, Demogorgon and Oni (though to a lesser extent) don't really have any cooldown when they cancel using their power? Freddy can just slap snares/pallets around without any slowdown or cooldown that would hinder his chasing abilities. He can also cancel his teleport without any drawbacks. Demo can just start charging his Shred and cancel it without being locked out of attacking or hindering his movespeed by a noticeable amount.
It kinda feels inconsistent with other killers, who get locked out of attacking immediately after using their power for a second or two. When Huntress wants to hide her hatchet away, she locks herself in an animation of doing so. When Plague wants to cancel her vomit, she slows down to swallow it and can't attack for a second. Bubba can't just stop revving his chainsaw immediately (and neither can Billy, though the cooldown is much shorter and less punishing in his case), he has to go through an animation that also locks him away from attacking and slows him down.
Just a thing that kinda bugs me, but oh well.
-
I actually like this idea. I'm all for secondary objectives, especially since I find just doing gens boring, so every now and then I equip Small Game and make it my personal goal to cleanse all five totems, so this idea really speaks to me.
-
I just wish that skins that are Auric Cell exclusive (excluding the ones for licensed characters) should also become buyable with Iridescent Shards at least 6 months after their release. That way more skins will become slowly accessible to players who don't spend money on Auric Cells much, and devs will still get their money, because not many people are willing to grind out that many shards anyway. It gives you an alternative though.
-
I think a better idea would be to simply reworking Haddonfield and all the bullshit setups in the game, but I think at this point trying to 'fix' the game via perks is a staple.
-
those OVERPOWERED survivors playing with all those 'FRIENDS' of theirs!!!! those ABUSERS should start the match ALREADY HOOKED in the STRUGGLE phase and REDUCE the timer for EACH SWF MEMBER on the team!!!!
-
Honestly, it's a blessing for me. Getting anywhere nearer to high purple ranks and red ranks means facing more and more spirits and billies, and absolutely no one else. I actually have to go out of my way to derank to green ranks so I can actually see the other 15 killers that are available.
My major issue with emblems rn is that you can go out of your way to literally do nothing in a match and still get a blackpip.
Trust me, I've actually tried to depip consistently while still providing some support towards the team (either by cleansing all 5 totems to get rid of hexes/potential NOED, doing 1 gen and plundering to bring the other survivors valuable items), and I often ended up blackpipping.
I could never unhook, heal or even bodyblock for someone for an entire match and get an iridescent Benelovent emblem. I have no idea how, but it happened at least twice.
It feels like you actually have to just instantly DC or rush at the killer and ######### on first hook to depip. Meanwhile you can put in barely any effort into a match and somehow get a black pip, or sometimes even a pip.
This is all speaking from survivor PoV, as I don't play killer as often so the rank resets usually throw me back to rank 15's either way. I don't climb up farther than green ranks from that point, unless I for whatever reason just feel like playing killer a lot.

What they need to do is make more tomes for the archives
That is also a valid option, however I believe simply going with my idea would take a lot less effort. Besides, I don't think I can trust BHVR with coming up with archive challenges, since so far they haven't changed the Chapter 4 ones at all, and they're nearly impossible to achieve.
