god you need to mellow out
just chill out and enjoy fun things, so tired of balance talks on here, esp for a non problem like OoO
"just saying "run the perk, it's fun" doesn't really tell me why it's fun" it's like no mither but a different kind of handicap, it's fun
I enjoy playing the game how I choose and reasonable conversation about what and how the game could be made better. What's so wrong about that?
Just because you might not care anymore it doesn't mean other people have to stop to caring as well.
If your so tired of "balance talks" why even bother posting on this thread? You have had absolutely nothing meaningful to add to the conversion. The basic structure of what you have said in both posts is:
*One thing you think* -> It's your problem -> OoO is not a problem -> it's fun for me (No explanation anywhere)
Objection of Obsession, when used "correctly", is not a handicap. The survivor has complete control over the single drawback of the perk and the perk doesn't even activate until you are out of the direct danger which is paired with the terror radius of the killer. If you don't want the killer to know where you are, you can look at the edge of the map and wait for the terror radius before you start looking around for the killer again. But honestly most of the time you don't have to care, you can watch the killer wander slowly wander over to you and until their aura disappears and until that moment, you are safe.
In the overwhelming majority of situations when you can see the Killer, the Killer can rarely do anything to capitalise on the information of being able to see you. When playing efficiently, this means the survivor will only ever be in two states. Doing generators because the killer is on the other side of the map trying to deal with other survivors OR being tunnelled by the Killer because they can't leave someone with that much information alive for very long if they want any chance in stopping the generators.
I'm not even going to bother explaining why no mither is a completely different perk. I've already wasted enough of my time on something I don't think you're going to bother reading and/or thinking about.
Trying to "chill out and enjoy fun things" is exactly why I'm here discussing this perk because, without fail, every game I load into with an Object of Obsession present is impossible to enjoy the game because this badly implemented perk is abused by people that seem to think that ruining other people's fun is their kind of fun.

This is what you said about survivors, which is what I originally responded to:
https://i.gyazo.com/dcc34474a48743706d466fe376df520a.png
That to me shows bias. Why? Because killers do it too. Bring a Key? Oh gotta bring a mori. Suspect swf? Bring an Ebony. Etc etc. One could go on.
I never said you claimed that killers have a right to bring whatever... I said that your comments (meaning your quoted comments) reek of this notion that survivors are somehow suppose to give the killer a break when they don't even know who they are facing and under what conditions.
Do you know how many times survivors have brought 'fun' builds and killers have brought all meta perks? Plenty of times.
A little bit confusing to follow this part of thread but I think I understand where both of you are coming from, for the most part.
Unfortunately there are always going to be players on both sides that are always going to sweat, bring the most powerful meta perks and treat the other side as "the enemy" rather than just other players.
The more of the game I play the more I'm realising that the only people that really suffer in this deadlock are the newer players or people that are just trying to enjoy the game, goofing around with a couple buddies, experimenting with off-meta perks and builds and just trying to improve their skills in either role without the need of being to told you did well by the world's jankiest ranking system.
For some people the best way to deal with this problem is also bring the most powerful things they can, hope for the best but expect the worse from their opponents. Others choose to continue as normal and try to ignore all the negativity the cycle thrives on.
I think majority of people just stop playing and they might be better for it tbh

"I have never used an ebony mori, I never camp, I never tunnel, I avoid busted addons and perks and I try to prioritise fun for the people I'm playing against"
Crying because people aren't playing by your rules is lame
also if you were playing myers you could get some free info in tier 1 so i like OoO against him
and uhhhhhhhhhhhh OoO is fun try it, it's a different kind of game all together, a really fun perk
I'm very confused on why you think I'm "crying" about rules in this situation. These are all rules I set for myself, not for any of the people I play against. To expect even a single one of those things from any other player is extremely entitled. The only thing I expect from the other players is simply not attempting to outright ruin the game for me and make my experience a complete misery.
Focusing on the primary goal of ruining the fun which a game provides for other people "is lame", in my humble opinion.
They can play however they want, they can click flashlights as much as they want, they can teabag as much as they want. It doesn't bother me as long as I can chase people, get a couple hits and play some fun mind games. I don't usually consider 4 escapes a loss if I had fun.
The point I'm trying to make is that Object of Obsession stops this from ever happening. The match is usually over before I can even attempt to enjoy it and there is minimum of one survivor that knows your every move and action unless you are trying to tunnel them (which I never do).
For 20 of the 21 Killers in the game, you won't have tier 1 to give you the tiniest morsel of information at the very beginning of the match so for all but one killer, only the survivor is gaining any useful information from the perk. That being said, Myers in tier 1 (without scratched mirror) is basically the weakest killer in the game. Unless you are in a position to get a lucky hit or an even luckier gen grab, you need to be out of tier 1 as fast as possible. The longer you stay in tier 1, the better it is for survivors, you can't commit to chase and it's going to be a while before you can pop tier 3. The OoO will already knows you are playing Myers as their perk is not lighting up no matter where they look. This means (at least) one person on the map will be alert and much harder to stalk. Worse case scenario, they are in a team and now multiple survivors are now harder to stalk. The information you do gain ends up being almost worthless in comparison to the information the person using OoO is gaining from the same situation.
The only way OoO would be useful to you is if you were using the scratched mirror... So one specific addon on one specific Killer can counter this perk that constantly feeds the survivor(s) information about exactly what you are doing and where you are going no matter what killer you are playing.
Just saying "run the perk, it's fun" doesn't really tell me why it's fun. I'm guess it's something to do with the power it provides to a single survivor with relatively low drawbacks and the information relay possibilities it provides when playing in a team (I won't lie, as a concept the perk is quite interesting despite how unfair it currently is). I'd really love to know why you think it is fun but in my mind, looking at everything about the perk, the kind of players that use it and my personal experience of seeing it used from both sides (as I play both sides pretty much equally), I can't see any reason to use it unless you just don't want your killer to enjoy their match, which is just plain selfish.
Please do reply, I'm actually really interested to hear more.

No, it doesn't need a rework.
It needs to be removed from the game and replaced with a completely different perk.
This is why I chose to say rework. In my mind, 'rework' implies that the perk is completely changed and doesn't just receive a 'rebalance' which would just change some numeric values.

You kinda lost me here... How did them having OoO prevent you from kicking gens for your tome?
And tbf - you kinda said it yourself: "without any gen defence or powerful addons"... Were the survivors supposed to handicap themselves when they telepathically determined that you didnt bring meta perks and addons?
I wasn't expecting survivors to handicap themselves, that would be a VERY entitled but even if you get the most boriing meta combo of 4 DS + Unbreakable (which I fully expect at this point) you can still chase people and eventually get downs, that combo doesn't affect me much unless people use it aggressively (as I don't camp or tunnel) If I stopped them completing one generator I would lose another and if I committed to a chase I would lose 2 generators to get a single down. It was just silly imo

So I could still kick gens, for sure, but as soon as I kicked a generator the survivor that was working on it would have sprint bursted away knowing that I was approaching the generator in advance. They would then wait for me to leave and get straight back on gen and as long as the two of them were working on the 2 farthest generators I couldn't really do anything about it.

I'll admit they should have played the game normally but I think it is funny they stopped your build. You brought in an infinite tier 3 Myers, fully expecting to win, and they stopped you. Grow a pair and stop whining about a perk, you used your best and whining like a baby because they used something of their own to counter you.
Um... they didn't really counter my build? in any way?
I was using a bunch of random level 3 passive perks (Hardly even a build because of how strong my addons were & I wanted to play fair) and infinite tier 3 because I was going to prestige Myers and wanted to use up addons & offerings. Could not care less if I won or lost the match, I just came for the BP.
I'm not some entitled player that thinks I deserve to 4K every match and will happily "lose" if I have some fun chases and get a decent amount of points. Hell, if they were fun to play against I would have given them props & reps regardless of the outcome of the match. If they were fair to me, I would always give last survivor the hatch. Infinite tier 3 is powerful but I'm not going to play super toxic because of that power.
These people on the other hand, running OoO in a 3 player SwF, would happily play super toxic because of their powerful perk.
I sacrificed 3 out of 4 survivors (the hatch spawn was completely up to luck because they refused to even touch a generator)
As you can see these people expected an escape out of this stupid strategy because they bought offerings and items. They got barely any points and I still managed to black pip despite their best attempts to starve me of actual gameplay. If you think these survivors "stopped" my build, then you are severely misinformed.
I'm not going to read the scoreboard to you. I'm sure you are capable enough to do it yourself. I'm sorry but the stats don't lie.
I'm not here to "whine like a baby". I'm here to have a proper conversation about how and why this map combined with these kind of players using this one perk is an issue for the game.

Stop playin such Killers as The shape, ghost face and the Bell. That invisible stalker ######### is no fun playin against... And the Killers are to much powers against the survivors wich is not even fair, and then u play that invisible thing... Many player quit the game when they realize if the Killer is one of them
Dude, are you trolling?
Not trying to be rude or anything but If you don't like stealthy killers that's not an issue with me (some random) or the game. I play pretty much all of the killers and no one (to my knowledge) has ever DCed because of the killer I'm playing. If you want to play survivor, learning to deal with stealth killers is just part of the game (Like learning to deal with every killer). Most can be countered by running spine chill or just swinging around your camera and being aware of your surroundings whenever you are open to stalk or ambush. I doesn't work all the time but once you know who the killer is you can be on high alert.
Stealth killers take a decent amount of knowledge to play effectively too. Wraith without the right addons has very low map pressure, Myers (while pretty well balanced) does have a very weak early game and personally I find Ghostface's power quite fiddly and the cooldown (by default) is crippling if you misuse his power.
Don't worry though, stick with it. Learn what you can and most killers, terror radius or not, can be out-played if know you how they operate.
Best of luck out there!

Yet another reason to delete Object.
I do agree in it's current state it's very OP (especially when in the survivors favour, which is almost always otherwise they would never equip the perk) but does it need to be deleted? No. It's needs a serious rework because I don't think the developers understood the ramifications of the perk when it was created and didn't have maps such as Midwich planned. It just sounded like a cool risk reward perk like No Mither (which could do with some changes too).
@Bjario said:
I havent even seen this map since the update came out
I honestly think the devs may have turned down it's chance of appearing as the few times I've had it recently, it does seem to always because of a map offering than just by random. Don't quote me on that though. I haven't seen the stats.
I also want to throw out the while the map design is questionable, I don't hate Midwich. Hell, aesthetically & atmospherically: it's a really good map and I have managed a couple of fun games on it but for each of those games, there's another match where the survivors abuse either glitches or poor design to try and take the game hostage & make me rage quit.
This OoO SwF thing just really just took the biscuit though. No hate, but just the tenacity and toxicity of those survivors to do something that was so blatantly unintentional and scummy and then scream at me in post game for not letting them "have fun" by forcing a rage quit out of me for free BP and some sick sense of power and satisfaction.
Just really sad to see.

Well I've learned a lot today, maybe that I just don't want to use these forums. I had a funny feeling that posting here would be an extension of the huge flame war you that get in-game. Thanks guys.
I set up a ticket but expect no reply from Behaviour. Good luck to all of you.

And the majority of killer mains here condone camping and tunneling knowing most do it to ruin the survivors game experience. Hypocrisy all around.
Can I just say that I don't know exactly what it's like here on this forum when it comes to sides, this was my 1st post but I never camp or tunnel anyone intentionally. While both camping and tunnelling is bad play, it isn't trying to take the game hostage. The game does end eventually and people can move on quite quickly usually.
I'm by no means a Killer or Survivor main. I just like playing the game and I try to do it a fairly as possible, sometimes against my own enjoyment of the game but honestly I'd rather just lose and move on than play like a scumbag and win.
No one should be entitled to win any game.
@nicnc82 said:
I'm really glad the devs won't limit perks in swfs. They know the playerbase will drop and then killers can sit in long lobbies. Nothing gets to me as a killer
While that's great I think that it would be far more interesting to see a variety of perks not just the meta nearly all the time. I'm not saying remove any perks from SwF but regulate their usage in a team to allow for more interesting strategies than everyone running DS and Unbreakable. The fact that doing this would eliminate this kind of perk + map abuse is a useful by-product that goes a long way in removing these useless time-wasting bully teams from the game.
Unless you somehow think they are healthly and fair part of the game? idk, I don't have a fix all for everything that will make everyone happy.

This is a little of both. On their own, OoO and Midwitch aren't issues. When used in the way OP experienced, they were used to hold the game hostage and actively ensure the killer is not allowed to play the game as it's intended.
So it doesn't break the game 99.9% of the time, but that .1% feels absolutely terrible and is a ban-able offense.
"Breaking the game" is very specific. Purposefully holding the game hostage while leaving the opposing team with no outs is probably the only legitimate way to break the game's design. Here, OP's only option was to DC or play an endless game of "press W".
Literally posted what I was typing before I finished it xD

I would agree, but anytime I point out issues that break the game I'm told that's just part of the game. So I guess I fail to understand when we should stand up for a better game or when we should just accept things for the way they are.
This is much better. I think that if a combination of two mechanics creates an issue that cannot be counter unless through sheer luck. One or both need to be fixed.
I think OoO is crazy OP in a SwF but by itself, it has counter play.
Midwich is a very questionably designed map with unforeseen faults and so really bad bugs. But can you win on the map, absolutely.
It's the combination of the two and abuse of the coordination a SwF has, that makes this issue what it is. If the killer has no counter play but DC, Something needs to be changed.

Just DC. If you really have over a 1k hours you would've known how cancerous that match was going to be. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your own time playing against those kinds of players.
Seriously, I mean it. There are no penalties right now so you have nothing to lose and the bloodpoints you gain aren't worth the stress either. Its an actual waste of time and energy. I'm sitting a 4k hours now and if I get sent to midwitch I just disconnect because the only thing that matters is my own time and enjoyment. I'm not playing this game to be trolled by turbo virgins I only want to have a fun experience and some people don't want you to have that and staying in the match is just enabling their behavior. Literally just send them back into the Survivor queue ASAP because well.... their queues are like 5mins so that's a suitable punishment of being an a hole.
Hopefully, them getting sent back to queues over and over again will make them stop trying to troll or just stop playing. Either works for me.
I completely understand what you're saying but I feel like the DC is kinda what they want from you. It's not going to stop them doing it to someone else. These are the kinda people that get a kick out of making people mad and the DC is just going to fuel that.
-
I haven't even mentioned that another SwF found a glitch with the upper floor window into that allowed them to reach a place you couldn't hit them. That was another half an hour of my time wasted so I could keep my points and offerings. They didn't need specific perks for that, just the map offering.
Midwich really needs to be looked at in it's current sorry state.

I will say it AGAIN this is a VERY SPECIFIC SCENARIO. This does not represent 99% of the matches. bIg bRaIn
Once again talking down to people for no reason. Great job man.
The point is that this scenario can be created by the SwF at very little cost and can't be avoided by the killer unless you just give them what they want and DC
-

Simple, there are way to the second floor on each of those sides. Go up and and drop down through the openings on those sides. Also this scenario is very specific. Object of Obsession is not that popular of a perk. At least not for a team that is trying.
It shouldn't matter how specific the case is. The fact that this can be done by any group of survivors with OoO and a single map offering makes this an issue.

Are you actually joking? Like seriously? why are commenting if you have nothing to add but hate?
And for the record, I did not "get beat", I killed 3 out of 4 survivors, did not de-pip and gained only 16K points. it just took me 3 times as long as a normal match to do so because they refused to play the game properly. It would have taken even longer if I didn't have insta-downs.
If you are just here to antagonise people, don't waste your time replying again

Thanks for talking down to people, really constructive for discussion.
There are no shortcuts when there are 3 players watching you with OoO. I understand it's a new map but so was dead dawg saloon and sanctum of wrath. This a completely different kind of map design flaw. It's not just because it's new
-
@Tricks said:
KYF should be the only iteration of SWF there is otherwise you get cancer like this.
Remove SWF, keep KYF and the only people crying are the people who do this toxic crap.
I wouldn't go that far, maybe just have perk restrictions of some kind. would make this OoO garbage less viable and mean that a party of players would actually have some variety of perks instead of the exact same meta build every time. Kinda helps the game in two ways there.
-
@catbeans said:
You could do that on any map.
The difference with every other map is the are no obstacles stopping you from reaching the player that you can see with OoO other than maybe a small hill or stair case. The whole of Midwich is a 2 huge loops stacked on top of each other with side rooms. which only have 4 access points in corners. It took me almost 10 minutes of walking to catch up to one of them because they can just keep running me around in circles and the only way to reach them when they can see exactly where you are is brute force because if you "mind game"? they just switch direction.

It really depends. I don't know everything that happened the game, but you the only possible things I can think of are holding the game hostage and harassment. I don't record my gameplay and that post-game was basically just a slew of the 3 of them spamming just get good, broken addons, baby killer, you had wall hacks the whole game, cry more, we were just having fun.
