I don't think that's a cheat, I think that's a bug. I've encountered it before where a Demo had no chase music or terror radius, and twice I've seen a Huntress without her lullaby. But on some of those occasions, it was a console player, so they couldn't have been running scripts.
@Starr43 said:
If people can play survivor looking like Bubba or make their flashlight beams look like a purple lightsaber or dress lockers up to look like they belong in a rave party then you can bet your butt that there are people removing chase music on their and end or anything else that would give them an advantage.. good luck stealthing as Ghostface if someone modded their game to makes killers glow brighter than the sun or something..
It is possible it was a bug, but I don't think I was the only one experiencing it. 2 other survivors disconnected from the game and the killer seemed to hit them out of nowhere.

What killer was it, on PC I've had a couple Billy's that were like that, no stealth add-ons but no TR while chainsawing and no chase music half the match.
It was a trapper.

Okay let me clear the air right now since I’ve been called toxic so many times this past week for doing my objective (and making the game less annoying and hard for myself). These are things I consider to be fine to do as a killer, though some survivors seem to find it toxic:
- Hitting a survivor right after hooking them (I do this to stop their scream).
- Returning to hook after an unhook has occurred (I have no info on any other survivors, or I want the person who made the unhook).
- Downing/rehooking a survivor that was just rescued/picked up (I only tend to do this if no one is trying to take aggro or if I need more pressure on gens that are going too fast. I tend to just slug the unhooked person so that I can at least get some pressure while still giving the person another chance. If it’s that much of an issue just use DS or Unbreakable).
- Proxy watching a hook that was strategically placed (It’s a defensive maneuver, generally meant to bring survivors into your area of protection so that you may also watch over a gen or two)
- Defending the last hooked survivor after gens are completed and the gates are 99’d or open. (What else can I do at this point of the game besides give up and gain no more points).
- Using NOED or Devour Hope (just cleanse totems, they are meant to be strong perks that have high risk value)
- Utilizing the basement to full effect (for certain killers the basement can generate a lot of pressure for them, which may be needed in order to win the game at times)
- Using a Mori (after their recent change I don’t even know why the devs want to change Moris because they no longer do anything besides send the survivor out in style)
- Tunneling someone with a key (in an attempt to potentially remove the key from the match after killing the key holder if they have the right addon for it or to prevent an unfair early end to the game bc of a broken mechanic still in the game).
- Playing Spirit (she was a killer added to the game that people had to pay for or earn with shards. While yes she has a strong power that isn’t hard to learn, there are still ways to play around a Spirit if you as the survivor are perceptive. Don’t be mad at me for playing a character I find fun that is also viable at higher ranks).
I would agree with you to a large extent. The only thing I see as toxic from the killers is hitting people on hook. Especially after the last game when the killer just kept on hitting me on hook since I was the last one left. I don't care since it is a game, but something tells me that that person playing the killer isn't right in the head. It is a reflection of who they are as a person that they do that, and yeah I think they are a toxic individual who I wouldn't want to be around. I would worry for their friends and family.
There are things that also reflect that on the survivors side. I do think relentlessly tbagging at the hatch and the exit gate is a ######### thing to do to someone. Everything else I don't care. When its the end of the game, that is when you are just being a dick.
-
@Freki said:
I liked your post, but the killer gets around set of hooks, that are not all that accurate to tell which survivor is hooked and how many times. The devs seperated this intentionally to give survivors more information without working for it. I feel though you hit it spot on. thank you.
Thank for the information! I do think that makes a lot of sense as it does provide a balance.
-
That I would become addicted to this game and I'm not sure how I feel about that.
-
First off, who over does your map design and art work needs to be commended. The new environments and tiles look really cool and pristine. I definitely feel like I am immersed in the actual environment. I can imagine a lot of work went into these different pieces and it shows. I am excited to see what you do in redesigning the other maps.
Second, I do really like the new changes to the Killers and Survivors. I think they make sense for the most part and will help improve game play.
Third, I am extremely grateful that you added a hook counter next to each character. I think this will help both sides a lot. Killers will know who they can take out of the game fast or who they need to hook for barbecue and chili stacks. It will also show them who not to hook for Devour or Pig Traps. Likewise, survivors will know who they need to start protecting more and what their status in the game truly is. In all a really good change.
Fourth, linking the portrait of the player to the number of downs they receive also utilizes the logic from point three. It is a good change.
Now there are some things that I am not a fan off.
First thing is the HUD. I am going to focus on the key aspect though that truly affects both sides. The changing of how the HUD is implemented is my huge concern. I am not sure if it is indeed, but it is actually harder to know certain aspects of the game we are used to. For instance, I can no longer really judge how long a survivor has on the hook until they reach struggle mode. The odd coloring and size of the bar is not good indicator of how long you have left. This could severely damage a survivors ability to determine when the need to go for a save which could lead to the death of their team. It can also hurt the killer who utilizes that to determine whether someone might be going back for a hook save due to dwindling time.
Second thing with the HUD is the lack of ability to know if someone is being picked up/slash healed. Both survivors and killers utilize this to know what plays to do at a certain time. Previously the bar was highlighted when an action was being performed on a downed survivor. Now there is no way of knowing what is going on with them. It does affect both sides as they go through the course of the game.
Third thing with the HUD. There are times on certain maps and in certain settings when the map melds with the bar for counting hooks and the timer bar. This could confuse people and cause them to not know what to do in certain situations. I would look into that to ensure that it can be fixed.
I feel like all of these things could be fixed if you went back to the original HUD setting with only adding the hook counter next to each character. If that is not a route you want to go, I would suggest addressing the points above so you make it obvious and visible to ensure everyone knows the state of the game. It will affect both sides equally.
Another thing that can affect game play is the music survivors hear when on hooks. The normal music starts and then suddenly stops and puts in new music and then switches back. This is quite jarring and I actually let go of the hook my first time playing because I thought it meant I had already died. Can it just go back to the regular music? If not, can you at least make it one continuous music set so it doesn't cut in and out.
Some random things that are weird, but don't affect overall game play.
The running is kind of odd looking.
When I get downed and also hooked, the camera pans down and it is quite odd looking like a bug. Is this supposed to happen, and if so, can it not?
I don't mind the other parts of the new HUD. It will take getting used too, but not horrible.

Really? My games have been fantastic from an fps standpoint and i haven't had any stutters. Wonder what could be causing it.
Interesting. I guess I will check my graphics, but I haven't messed with them from the before/after update.
-
It might be to specific consoles, but the Switch is experiencing it as well. We all know about the hook situation, but specifically to my game play, the game skips when I attack and I end up missing even when right next to them. My ping is fine. Likewise, I played in the temple of purgation and could not see a single thing in the main building. Person was maybe about 8 meters ahead and I couldn't see them at all.
-
I know that I probably be in a minority, but I think Empathy is the superior perk.
For me, I like having all the information that I can. Empathy helps me understanding the timing of the match. Is someone in chase? How far away from me? Where is the killer? Has a pallet been dropped? Was there a Gen over there that is nearly finished and was working on before getting hit?
All of this information helps me decide whether to stay on my gen, leave an area, take a hit, go unhook, etc.
While Bond is a good perk, the limited distance really hurts it. Besides, if you are using it to team up to finish a gen, you most likely see the lights indicating there is a gen or hear it. I find that it just doesn't give me enough information to be successful. Empathy lets you potentially swing a map. If you are using it to see a chase in progress near you, most like you see the killer or will see the aura of the survivor anyway because they will be hit soon.
Again, just my opinion. It is in my build.
-
If you are playing "competitively" this build doesn't really help The Blight. I would probably only keep Spirit Fury as it gives you options in chase. The Blight's power focuses on getting places fast and chases. I would recommend putting on Save the Best for Last. You are going to be hitting a lot of people as Blight. This will help in the chase for sure.
Other perks that will probably work well on him.
Make your Choice: If you want quick downs this will be a good perk on him. You can get far away for people to take off the hook and then use your power to get back fast.
Devour Hope: Like Make your Choice, you can get away from the hook fast and come back for the kill.
Pop Goes the Weasel: This killer will excel on get downs fast. That means you will have more opportunity to use PGTW.
Surveillance: Can travel fast to get back to Gens being touched.
Discordance: Can travel fast to get back to gens and disrupt multiple survivors.
Infectious Fright: Can proceed to snowball and down multiple survivors quickly. Especially if you are using STBFL
Tinkerer: You get information and are also undetectable. Can move fast to get back to the Gen and surprise the survivors.
I'm all Ears: Will significantly help in chase to know how to position yourself.
Surge: Again, will help with decreasing Gens.

Hi :)
I started playing a week ago after my brother asked me for years. I absolutely love the game so much fun however I get super anxious and nervous for letting my teammates down. I think its a girl thing.
I usually RPGs and Wildhunt + DLCs are my absolute favourites <3
Just know that there are new players out there that could get super sad if "yelled" at.
Oki take care!!
Wishing you the best. It is a super fun game and I hope that you can find enjoyment. Don't let the toxic players get you down. Play how you would like and good luck in the fog.

Calm Spirit ‘counters’ ONE of the ways The Doctor plays.
Calm Spirit does not counter:
-Going into Madness
-Going up in Madness
-Not being to do actions because of being in Tier 3.
All of that is the primary use of the Doctors power uses.
Making survivors screaming is just ONE way the Doctor can find you.
So, no Calm Spirit does not Hard counter the Doctor.
That's fair. I still think it is a power worth considering because crows are kinda pointless right now.
-
@pwncxkes said:
Calm Spirit would literally counter the whole killer ability.
And calm spirit counters doctor, yet the doctor is still in the game.

Do we know if Switch is up and running with crossplay. I am interested in facing different people. You start to memorize builds people run where I play.
-
So I can survive on an Island for 39 days, find some idols, pull off a couple of blindsides and win $1,000,000. Oh....
I mean, both sides have their own appeal. I enjoy trying to work together with people that don't have coms to outsmart a killer and try to have as many people get away as possible. It is the appeal of uniting to outrun a dangerous opponent.

So? Many people say spirit ruins your experience because there's no counter, same as deathslinger and few even say as nurse.
Lol. You think this has do with killers and perks. I actually have no problem with your build. If it works for you then good for you. It won't work on everyone though. This has to do with intent and not people being salty over a killer that they can't counter. IF you enter into a game with the intent of making everyone else miserable, there are ways of doing it without getting banned. I also firmly believe that if you do that, it says a lot about you as a person. Again, this is directed at everyone. People's ego clouds their judgement and they take it out on others in horrible ways.
I had a game where I was a Myers and popped tier 3. Game was over in 4 minutes. The team chose to rush the hook even though I was leaving to patrol. They got angry at me, but I pointed out to them that it was stupid that they all rushed around me without a plan and tier three popped. I then told them that it was nothing personal and I wished them the best. I never went into the game with the intent on doing that. I felt for them, but knew that I was not trying to ruin them. That is not the same for other, others enter the game knowing that they are going to do that. They know they will hit them on hook and do other things to demean them.

Well no videogame has real life consequences, but can have in game consequences. Btw I also play other killers, like nurse, billy, etc, and I use different tactics, but with bubba you gotta camp and 3 gen patrol a lot man
Just so you know though, there are plenty of ways to ruin people's experiences without doing enough to get banned.

-
Makes me just sad reading these comments that people feel so entitled to ruin other people's experiences on both sides because there will be no real life consequences. For the most part, I believe the strategy you choose has a reflection on who you are as a person. Just acknowledge that this is a toxic community.
-
You should Capitalize on his power. Utilize Blood Echo, Thanantaphobia, Nurses Calling, and try and get Infectious fright from Plague. This way you slow down the game with thanantaphobia, Can spot when people are healing, Utilize Blood echo to make everyone broken and use infectious fright to capitalize on down. I would Use sloppy butcher, pgtw, or whispers in the meantime though.
-
I have seen this a bit and was wondering if people could respond to using it on huntress. In my opinion, I find that she mostly uses hatchets to down people and wouldn't have the best use for it. Likewise, Huntress needs perks for detection in her loadout to find people. It seems that this perk wouldn't help her weaknesses and could limit her strengths. Was wondering if people could share what they found useful when using it on her.
-
I think the either the hedge maze or Overlook would be amazing.
I will be honest, the maps that would come out of stephen king's works would be amazing. Derry Sewer, Carrie's High School, The Cemetary from Pet Sematary, The Dark Tower, and others.
Killers on the other hand are very limited. You have Annie Wilkes, Jack Torrence, the Little Kid that Comes back to life, but they are normal. You also have Carrie, Pennywise, and Randal Flagg who could be good.
Survivors are fairly normal too. Roland DeChain would be the only iconic one besides Bill from It.

@Sadsnacks said:
Someone enlighten me, please
Hi Sadsnacks,
In the grand scheme of things there are better perks to run on most killers. However, I would recommend running it on certain killers. Those with a smaller moved speed benefit greatly from having the fast recovery from a successful hit. Using it on the Demogorgon is a hidden secret that works wonders. Combine this with Make Your Choice and Surveillance and you have an amazing combo. Demo has shred so he also doesn't lose stacks for hitting obsession.
-
If you are going to play hag and demo, you should level up the pig to get make your choice. Surveillance isn't bad on them either since you have fast travel time.
I would agree with leveling up Plague and Myers as they have very good teachable perks.
I would also level up Spirit as her teachables are very strong.
-
You say that the game should not be based on luck, but the whole match is randomly generated. The entire map layout is luck. This luck can make games winnable or unwinnable of the bat.
Many people have already said this, but if someone is camping, just do gens. It sucks, but the killer is screwing themselves over. They aren't learning how to play the game and letting 3 survivors do whatever they want. When that killer goes against skilled survivors, they are screwed. I would recommend that you try once in a while to go for the save to slowly learn the right timing, but otherwise punish the killer.

@slunder said:
I noticed quite a lot of complaints about survivor perks in dbd, so I will give my opinion on them. The perks that are hated are, for the most part, exhaustion perks in general, adrenaline, decisive strike and borrowed time.
Exhaustion perks: yes, they are broken. They basically give you a free get out of trouble card when you should have been downed. They basically gain free distance that require 0 skill to use and can change the outcome of a game without any risk. Dead hard, for example, can be used for distance, and before you say "it is rare that it is used for distance and it does not give much", I get to use it that way every 2-3 games (assuming I have it on, which is rare due to me not wanting to use crutch perks).
Adrenaline: Well, the fact is: this perk is not a crutch. First of all, it requires to be alive when it activates, then you have to need it when it activates (because you might not be in a chase, in which case it is not game breaking) and finally, the killer often runs NOED.
Decisive strike: this perk is half good, half bad. Tunnelers deserve to get hit by it, but survivors often use it to be aggressive, which is just a free get out of jail card. Rework it so that the timer stops when the survivor is in a chase or in the dying state, so that the killer cannot tunnel and then slug, but get the timer to be only 15 seconds long, no time to be aggressive.
Borrowed time: well no, this perk is not dumb, if the survivor hooks rush you get into a chase immediately instead of needing to find another one, so the perk making survivors rush each other is fine. Most of the time, it is not used to rush, but to fight tunnelers, which is a good thing. I even think this perk should be base kit.
What are your thoughts?
I would agree with you that dead hard can be a crutch perk. The reason that I think so is that unlike other perks, it requires you to be injured to use. I do find that most people don't know how to use it appropriately. I would challenge you on the fact that other exhaustion perks are crutch.
In certain maps, Lithe can be very difficult to use due to no windows or ability to chain.
Sprint Burst doesn't come back if you don't know how to manage your exhaustion properly plus it requires you to make the choice of whether waste it at the beginning of the match or walk.
Head On can only be used for lockers and if a killer is right behind you then they will grab you out before you activate it. If you just wait in the locker then you are just wasting time.
Balanced landing only works when falling and you can easily catch people before they activate it on certain maps.
Adrenaline is pretty crutch when you are alive, but you are playing the entire game with 3 perks. Plus as you pointed out you have to be alive.
Other perks that some people rely on are DS, BT, Unbreakable, Deliverance, Mettle of Man.
However, I don't think it is a bad thing. It is good strategy. Still though, people have to realize that most of these other perks are 1 time use only. People should try and play as if though don't have these as they will get better immensely. I only have Sprint Burst in my load out with all of these listed.

The Derry Sewers map would be pretty cool, but I don't know how they would implement it. The Overlook hotel would be ######### amazing, imagine if the twins appeared in hallways as an easter egg. I'm not sure about the school from Carry yet, but the cemetary from pet semetary would be awesome, since we haven't got a cemetary or a cursed burial ground. The dark tower map would be my favourite, the rose fields, the tower, everything would be amazing.
I agree there are so many easter eggs that could be implemented in Overlook. I do feel that most of Stephen King possible maps would be indoor locations. I know I am somewhat in the minority of liking indoor maps. Don't know if people would be excited for some of those ideas given the back lash on other indoor maps. The cemetery idea was the only one I could think of on short notice that was outdoors. Likewise, I am trying to think of places that aren't in game yet.
-
The new killer will be one of the Devs. We get to upload ourselves as the survivors. The new map will be a development studio.
This is a joke by the way.
I would love to have a stephen king chapter. I think Derry Sewers would be a great map. The dark tower would be an interesting map. Overlook Hotel, and the school from Carrie. We could also get the cemetery from Pet Sematary.
-
They need to spend a chapter to fix the game as a whole before introducing new content.
-
I would definitely want this as a feature. For each of the killers I play, there are several builds I run on them. This would make it easy to keep track of it.

Haunted Grounds would light up the totems:
a) at the start of the match if the killer doesn't equip other Hexes.
b) when another Hex perk lights up if the killer equips other Hexes.
Retribution would light up after at least 1 person cleanses a dull totem.
Noed would light up after you down a person after the exit gates are powered
Why would any killer want to use these perks then? These seem like massive nerfs and survivors can very easily manipulate this to their advantage. Plus survivors could just eliminate all totems and nullify the perk without any of the perks effect being used. Hex perks are in a fairly good place right now with the exception of totem placement.

Love Overwatch, despite me being rubbish at it 😅. As for Fire Emblem, although I've never played it, my younger brother despises it, but his taste is quite bad to be fair.
Lol. No worries. We all have different tastes. I like the story and 3d chess of it. all. I would recommend looking at some playthroughs.
-
Overwatch
DBD
Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
-
I find the plague's to be hilarious. It is cool seeing the praying and then the vomit and then the incense slap.
Close second would be Ghostface with the photobombs.
-
I never use Franklin's. For some people it might be useful, but for me it is a waste of a perk slot. There are so many other perks I would put on before it. With all the tracking, obsession, exposed, chase, and other perks out there, Franklin fixes a niche problem that only has variable effect on the game. I get bringing it if you see 4 toolboxes and multiple keys, but if you focus all your time on items you will not be getting the kills. Let them play their game, and I will play mine. I have also never seen camping items work in high rank games. Gens are going too fast to waste time letting that item deplete. Besides, the only person who usually know where the item is is the person you just hit. Down them and hook them. So much of that item will be gone by the time they get back.
-
Honestly just thanos the killer.
-
I play both sides and absolutely love playing in red ranks for both. Since this is a killer post, I love the challenge that killer brings. It really makes me think how I am going into the game and how I will stop them from succeeding. I believe it pushes me to be my best. Plus, I kinda liked getting tricked and games lasting longer. It feels so boring for me to just 4k in 3 to 4 minutes and then call it a game. I want the games that last, the back and forth, the utilization of my killer power to it's greatest extent. I get that it can be tough, but it gives me such a rush. Plus, even then, I still get through without much difficulty. I think that survivors in red ranks have quite a huge variability. Some are really really good, and some aren't. There is the same thing with killers, but I think it is less apparent.

You might want to consider that Ghostface previously stalked you and was able to finish before you broke them out. I would recommend putting on spine chill to deal with stealth killers. If you don't put it on get used to looking around and finding structures to break line of sight.

I would absolutely love to have a maze in this game. It would be so exciting and unpredictable.

The chances that I ate burito this morning are out there. I don't even eat buritos, but there are chances. But what does it have to do with discussion of what is bannable? Why are you continuosly trying to attack me with Ad Hominem arguments?
To clarify, I meant that my statement that you were in the game was obviously unrealistic. That second statement that your quoting is not an attack on you. If you have anything else to say to me then dm me. I am not going to let your need to fight everyone, which I have read in other threads you post on to run this post and the help that the original poster is seeking. That last sentence would be an attack on you. As said above, the question has been answered. Let the OP decide what they want to do and end the discussion.

I completely agree. I think that there are quite enough characters in the game at this moment. I would be interested in seeing new maps or reworks of maps. I would also like to see any bugs or issues fixed.

Honestly, this post shouldn't even have this many posts. The answer has been given and the OP can decide whether they want to report or not. It has been confirmed by devs that this is something reportable... and they themselves can decide what to do with this ticket.
