  • I played one match on PS5 on Coldwind and had to switch my console off because I had a message pop up saying it was overheating. Never had this happen before on any game.

  • If they go all in on 2v8, it would be the beginning of the end for DBD. I don't think they will though. Needs to remain a limited time, occasional mode. Twice a year maximum.

  • Playing as killer and being sent to Badham and also with a basement in killer shack offering is my favourite. Great fun to go against.

  • I think a lot of people are sick of Huntress from playing against her every single match in 2v8. Did see a lot of people instantly dc when going against her in the normal mode at first but that seems to have settled down now.

I haven't played as her in months but there does seem to be a build where she can fire off hatchets extremely quickly with very little cool down. I think they recently changed a few of her add ons so probably one of them?

  • For me, Solo Queue has its peaks and troughs. You have awful days where it seems impossible to escape, your team mates are terrible and you all die very easily, normally with the first survivor hooked killing themselves for no apparent reason

Then another day, just like I had yesterday, you have really good matches that go down to the wire, one moment of good play at the end either by killer, or survivor ensures one or the other gets the win or salvages a draw. No survivor kills themselves, even if it's Skull Merchent, and they can all run the killer well, know what gen to do and when and don't sandbag by leading the killer to the key gen you have three quarters completed.

If I do start to get bogged down I just switch up my build and try and play differently. At the moment, Solo Queue is in a much better place than it has been in the recent past. Looking at you, Eruption and Call of Brine 3 gen meta!

Ironically, it's overall easier to escape in 1v4 right now precisely because the majority of the casual/unseasoned players are still in 2v8.

Finding this to be true. Was quickly bored by the lack of depth in 2v8 and constant Huntress. Only played it to do tome challenges that were a lot easier to complete in it.

The last few days when I went on there, it was mostly terrible survivors that were allegic to generators and just crouched around the edge of the map hiding. Interacting with a blue glyph and escaping two trials challenge took about 12 games to do in 2v8 this week. Eventually got a couple of hatch escapes. Every game I would be the only person on gens, out of the 8 Survivors. They just wouldn't do anything useful!

Have had a lot of great matches on the normal 1v4 mode recently.

  • IF they kept 2v8 in its current form it would be the beginning of the end for DBD. If they somehow can come up with a way to sort killer queue times, add a great deal of variety and depth into into the gameplay of 2v8 then sure, but until then it needs to go ASAP.

  • I was bored of it a week and a half ago! Only played it for the event tome and whatever challenges on old tomes were way easier to do it the mode.

The lack of variety in killers and complete lack of depth have sent a lot of people back, myself included, back to the normal mode, where Huntress now seems to be causing as many insta DC's or first hook suicides as prime Skull Merchent did! Survivors just sick of playing against her every single match.

Now it's a lot of newer players, together with killers working out the cage spawn locations, often making it hard to heal that is causing killers to stomp a lot of teams.

Good that they tried this but it needs way more tweaks and improvements before it can be brought back again. With just 5 killers and 4 perk combinations, it just isn't enough to justify trashing killer queue times for and hurting the game in the long term.

  • The sooner this version of it is gone and they can work on making it have more longevity, depth and variety in the future the better. Good experiment to start with for 2v8, but this one has well overstayed its welcome now.

It's made Huntress the new Skull Merchent in normal mode. Half the lobby quits or kills themself ASAP as soon as they see her!

  • If they made 2vs8 permanent in its current form it would be beginning of the end of DBD.

It started off fun playing survivor but the novelty soon wore off due to the complete lack of variety in killer and maps. Also once killers had worked out how the cages spawned it turned into tunnelling simulator 2.0 and without perks to help and if you were in a dead zone, easy picking for the killer more often than not.

Fun was well and truly gone by the time I'd done the event tome and now in the normal mode, the two games I've played against Huntress, both times people have disconnected as soon as they're heard her humming.

Sorting the queue times somehow and way more variety in everything to do with 2vs8 and it will be a fun diversion again in the future for a short time I'm sure. Until then, it can't come back without harming the core game.

  • I know I've only been playing it for the BP bonus. It was getting old very quickly playing against the same killer every single match and the complete lack of variety in it. I've done all the event tome and the various challenges from past tomes I hadn't done that were way easier in 2v8. It stopped being fun about a week ago for me.

Now fully back to the normal mode and having decent matches and fun again.

  • Killers are catching on how the cages spawn so are getting good at hunting them down and interrupting the heal attempt or unhook itself. Giving themselves an easier down against an already injured survivor and often finding more injured survivors arriving for group heals.

  • Definitely good that they have experimented with this. Was fun to begin with. But now it's just killers either shooting across the map to interrupt the uncaging with Billy or Wraith or if they're playing together their team mate does it by staying on opposite sides of the map. Played a Billy/Wraith combo where it was practicallu impossible to get an unhook without the other killer showing up.

If its not that, it's getting old very quickly facing huntress in 9 out of 10 games. The mode needs more variety to make it viable long term. How they do that, I'm not sure.

There has to be less people playing it now, it was taking a good while for some of my survivor lobbies to fill up this afternoon. As I said good that they've experimented with this though.

  • I think the mode is pretty chaotic but OK. The lack of variety will mean I just do the event tome challenges and go back to main mode where I try and use lots of different perks and builds and see what I can do with them, which keeps DBD fresh for me.

Still doing modes like this from time to time will keep the game alive and as seen by the numbers yesterday, bring more players back to the game. Even if it's not your cup of tea, anyone with half a brain can see this sort of thing is good for DBD as a whole and I fully support it.

  • A month or so ago there was a couple of pages thread where people were posting solo queue builds they were using. I'm still working my way through that testing out builds from that thread.

One of them had Weaving spiders in it. In about 10-12 games with it, I used it twice when there was one gen left to be completed and I was on death hook.

First game was against a Blight on Torment Creek. There were two gen in the corner near the Killer Shack and one towards the main building somewhere. One of the ones near killer shack was about three quarters done but he kept chasing me and another guy off it and zooming back to the other further away one where the other survivor was. I was on death hook but managed to sit in basement and that helped the gen near shack get done and the two of us escaped.

Another one on the Temple forest map against a bubba I did it in similar circumstances deep under main building when he was patrolling a 3 gen. I got caught on the exit gate but the other two got out.

Using it at the start of matches is totally pointless in my opinion but it can be useful at the end in the right situation. Unfortunately that is a very specific situation and is pretty much a wasted perk slot in the vast majority of games. You either use it at the start and it's basically throwing the game, at the end as I descibed and it can help get some people out or you don't get to use it or there's no need to. That's what I came up with about it by testing it over around a dozen games. Sorry for the essay!

  • The best way to use this perk I think is if you are on death hook and you have 1 or 2 gens left, maybe with one person already dead. Possibly when the killer is trying to protect a 3 gen with three survivors left. Using it as soon as the game starts is pretty close to throwing I'd say and pretty pointless.

  • All I know is normal lobbies have 400% bonus switching between either side and just played a killer game in normal lobbies as Singularity and couldn't even use my power. Button input wouldn't work but somehow got 3 kills against a flashlight swf!

  • Franklin's and Weave are absolutely busted together on certain killers and on certain maps. Get one of those killers and one of those maps put together and even Distortion won't save you. The tokens will be gone before you can blink.

All 4 survivors aren't going to go to the edge of the map and drop their items, and one guaranteed will keep opening chests to try and replace their dropped item from when they've been hit by the killer. In no time they have permanent aura on the pretty much the whole map.

  • Working my way through every build on here from the start and so far I had the most success with:

    • Bond
    • Kindred
    • Open Handed
    • LIthe

Someone had the first three and then swapped out the last perk, which I settled on as Lithe. 8 escapes in a row with that until a bad team combined with Scratched Mirror Myers on The Game put an end to the streak!

  • I never really use the same build for very long, always switching things up and trying to use different perks regularly. Going to run through all the builds on here during the rest of the event I think to keep things fresh.

Last couple of sessions I've been using Bond, Resilience, Lythe and Distortion and it's been a solid build but will be switching next time I play.

  • I played 8 games in a row earlier where the first person hooked just killed themselves. Just a complete mess with people doing this now.

  • It's like a few months back when Merciless Storm was wiping entire gen progress and wasnt killswitched. For some reason sometimes they just refuse ro use it on broken things.

  • Not had a single problem since the update, but sounds exactly like what happened to one of the nearby EU servers two Christmas' ago. It seemed like a 50/50 chance that the game was totally unplayable and it didn't get fixed for over two weeks. Was a complete mess trying to play through it, so you guys have my sympathies. Not good at all.

  • Skull Merchant is a total train wreck that should never have been released in the first place. She's already had 3 reworking and is nowhere near the problem she was before. Just a mess of random status effects chucked together now.

Saying that, I genuinely have no clue what you would do to her to make people stop throwing the game against her because its obvious a large number of the community have no intention of playing against her in any state. I think the devs will just not touch her again for years now, like with Freddy.

Similarly with Sadako, what do you do with her now? Rework after rework and I've played against her once since they nuked her months ago. She must the lowest played killer now?

  • Get the perks if you're never going to get the killers associated with them. In two months it'll be the Anniversary event and the killers you want will very likely be 4500 shards each going off what's happened past years.

  • I play on PS5 and have seen this a few times recently, not too much but it's annoying on the odd occasion it does happen. It's like a certain hit but the camera bugs out to the side and you totally miss the survivor, even if they aren't trying to dodge or 360 or whatever.

  • In the PTB whenever it is now, I would have liked DS to be kept at 3 seconds but the killer gets an affliction, similar to the orange glyph killer challenges. I did one of those at the weekend and breaking generators and dropped pallets was painfully slow, like double the time. Something like that lasting for a period of time would have been better in my opinion.

  • It's good fun for an hour or two and some light relief from grinding the main game. Also handy for getting the tome 3 challenge for escaping with Kate Denton where your next hook state would be instant death!

  • DIstortion is going to be the most used survivor perk if this is what they are doing to Ultimate Weapon.

  • This is the reason solo queue can be an absolute train wreck. I've lost count of the number of games I've been hooked first or even two hooked before anyone else has one and ended up escaping the trial.

Some people literally kill themselves over anything, however stupid. A couple of months ended up loading in with the same survivor in three games over the course of a few hours. All three games he killed himself within one minute. Different killer, different map each time. Why even bother playing the game at that point?

  • I've played against that exact scenario a couple of times. If I see Badham and basement in killer shack offering now, I've closed the game way before the match has loaded!

  • It always seems to go in cycles. One day can be great with close, tense matches and good teammates that even if you die you can still say "Yeah, that was a good match", the next day every match the first survivor caught kills themselves on hook or you are constantly left to die on your first hook and every other match seems to be against P100 comp wannabe Blights.

The back end of last week, I went through a spell where I thought I would never escape again, think it was one escape from twenty odd matches. Felt like one or two survivors were also playing killer!

But sometime during the weekend things flipped and I've had constant fun matches, and have escaped from 18 out of 21. A large number have been close, and have had challenging end games. Only one of those 21 I would call an awful game. A proxy camping, tunnelling Unknown. I was tunnelled out at 5 gens and the P100 Feng DC'ed almost instantly once she realised what was happening.

No doubt I'll have another bad streak very soon though. All pretty much depends on what sort of teammates you get really in solo queue.

  • I found him quite fun to use, and enjoyed getting his achievements. As others have said he is very map and certain add on dependent. Also if I could choose just one killer that I could use Noed on from the entire roster, it would be him!

  • Yeah, it works as intended so no need to kill switch it. It's just very bad, particularly in solo queue and if the killer is even a quarter competent, it's a guaranteed win for them.

I think even SWFs don't bother with it because there are much more viable ways for them to have success. Just a gimic perk that will probably be least used within a couple of months once everyone has done the Sable Adept achievement .

  • I mean the first one is just pretty much telling all the survivors in the lobby to run Distortion.

  • I played 3 games as killer last night and got two 4ks and a 3k with hatch. Not one single gen was completed in any of those matches!

Just reinforced why I'm not touching survivor solo queue for at least another week because it's just people throwing match after match at the moment for a perk that will only ever work for a 4 man SWF with very specific builds and even then they need the killer to be pretty bad and not realising what is going on.

  • Got Singularity with spare shards when he was released but never had any intention of playing him. The past couple of weeks I've given him a go, and with the right build and add ons can be quite fun to play.

  • I play on PS5 so the only possible answer is the Skilled Huntress one. 100 downs from 24 metres away is crazy.

I saw this discussion this morning and read into it some, continued my matches. After several matches of dying SOLELY because of team-mates all morning, I agree. As I sit here, dead, I watch a Dwight in his natural habitat hiding. Is Dwight new? Not with Distortion, Kindred, Adrenaline and Clairvoyance. Why is Dwight doing this? A hatch challenge. Hiding on the edges of the map rendering this game a 3v1.

Sometimes with the survivor HUD and the fact I run Bond quite a lot, it is silly the amount of times you see team mates basically sandbagging the rest of the team.

  • @satx3241 said:

is other survivors. Period. Especially in solo queue.

I know playing survivor is supposed to be a team thing, but anyone that has played this game for very long as a survivor knows that isn't happening unless you go in with a 4 man SWF. The amount of survivors that screw over the rest of the team (either intentionally or through ignorance) is far too high. There is a good chance you are going to be paired with at least one (or more) of these type survivors in every match.

It's the reason, even as a survivor main, I can't ever bring myself to say a particular killer, killer power, or killer perk is OP on these forums. The most OP power every single killer has is stupid, lazy, and selfish survivors. The percentage of matches where I get killed due to the play of other survivors is a significantly larger percentage than the percentage I am killed due to the skill of the killer.

I'm not knocking killers when I say that. I play against some very skilled killers. I'm just saying there are a lot of matches where killers don't need hardly any skill because survivors willingly hand them easy kills with the way they play.

Couldn't agree more with this. Yesterday morning I played 8 survivor matches before I had to go out.

The first three games, the first survivor caught killed themselves on hook. Instant 4k for the killer.

The next two games, I died on first hook in one after no survivors came to get an easy rescue. 4k.

Next game I was on death hook and injured doing a gen at the opposite side of the map. One guy got hooked and the killer was chasing another survivor that had gone for the rescue. In the end I had to go because a healthy Steve that hadn't been hooked was hiding somewhere and didn't even attempt a rescue. Sure enough the killer comes back to hook just as I'm arriving. He dies 1st hook as well as me and it ended up another 4k after the hiding Steve got found by Ultimate Weapon.

The next three games I got decent team mates. I escaped all three times and the killer got 1 or 2 kills. All good games, that hinged on key moments where one mistake could have turned the game either way during the end game. Good killers, team mates carrying out rescues after end game collapse and doing their best to get everyone out. Almost felt like MMR was working perfectly.

More and more often lately though, the most dangerous killer in the game isn't Blight, Spirit, Billy or Nurse, it's that 4th survivor that has no interest in doing anything team orientated or just quits for no good reason at all a minute into the match.

  • @Rench16 said:

Those matches are demoralising but you just gotta not let it get to you. You got dunked on. Move on. Learn from your mistakes and do better. If their toxic, shrug it off. Those survivors don't matter. At the end of the day it's just a game.

Everyone gets a game like that once in a while either as killer like you described, or as survivor when you get slugged or tunneled by some aura build tunneling comp build Blight. The above is the best advice, it will only very occasionally be a match like that. Just take what blood points you get and move on to a better match.

  • I quite like Dead Dawg Saloon and dont mind most maps, apart from Haddenfield as killer or survivor, and Badham is an awful experience as killer, especially if I'm not paying attention and get sent there by a SWF with a killer shack basement offering, because then you know you're going to be dealing with a couple of unhookable survivors in all probability. Garden of Joy is anything but also.

  • Me! I have every unlicensed survivor at between P7 and 13, and a Quentin, Ash and Cheyrl at P7 or 8. Normally level up and play whichever I need to do for dailies or tome challenges I'm doing and keep using them until I run out of cakes or envelopes and then move onto another.

  • I do like using Overcome at the moment, can combine it with other lesser used perks to break chase entirely, although it can be a bit of a waste against one hit killers, especially a tier 3 Myers.

For killer, I use Spies from the Shadows a fair bit. Can help track down survivors in places you don't expect then to be, extremely useful against the stealthy style survivors who aren't good in chase. A good player will still need to be caught though which can be tricky sometimes.

  • As killer, if you ever get a Badham offering together with basement in killer shack offering, do not even attempt to play the match would be my advice! A 4 man SWF doing that is the worst thing ever. Played some doing this the other night, two with No Mither, Boil Over and Flip Flop and they are basically immune to hooks and slugging from the lower floor. They stick to the gens in and around the school and are guaranteed to not hooked. Just stupid.

  • They can be massively abused by Swf's. If you get sent to Badham as killer and there is also an offering to make basement spawn in the killer shack, two survivors have No Mither, you know you're not going to have a good time if you go anywhere near the lower floor in the school!

  • Killer - Clown

    - Nemesis

    - Game Afoot

    - Tinkerer

    - Pop Goes The Weasel

Had to get hooks on the obsession for an archive, ended up with about 8 obsession hooks and a 4k.

    Survivor - Vittorio

    Decisive Strike

    Head On

    Bond

    Windows Of Opportunity

Another archive build, this time to get killer stuns against a Billy. Didn't get any as I had zero chase time as he spent most of the game chasing and tunnelling a Nea who made him look silly at times. Zero chase time and a 4 escape on one of the junkyard maps.

  • Haven't seen one in weeks luckily.

  • They bring boil over and a map offering and it's an invitation to be slugged, literally asking you to do it.
