  • I dont understand the devs for exactly that reason you mentioned.

"Red ranks aren't actually red ranks because everyone can rank up very easily, that's why you can play every killer you want without being stressed by gens..."

I dont think thats good for the game tbh. And there is more to it. If you always play and played red rank killer you may find it easier. But lower rank killers often face higher ranked survivors because of the bad matchmaking. Your game qualitiy as survivor suffers a lot especially as solo. Players get to red ranks and get the feeling they dont belong there.

I think you can perform good with any killer no matter the rank. It depends on how much time you invest in learning and "master" that killer. If you enjoy playing the clown Im happy for you. I like people playing different killers, it brings diversity. But I dont think you can justify a bad rank and matchmaking system with being able to play clown at red ranks.

  • I didnt face it myself but saw it on streams and in vids. Tbh I would just wait. They try to bait a hit on the hooked one. So why not just do nothing. 2 survs right in front of you doing no objective.

  • Why did you capitalize almost every first letter?

  • On the dark side we have cookies ;)

  • @LustForBP said:

Why is tunneling not penalized? Or hook camping? It’s quite irritating when you play back to back games with nothing but killers that tunnel causing you to lose rank.

if as a survivor, I loop a killer for an extended period and get tunneled and killed, why am I penalized more than a killer?

Yeah, it’s part of the game, blah blah blah. But there can definitely be some system involved to not award killers for chasing the same survivor for “X” amount of time or for hooking a survivor “x” amount of times before messing with other survivors. What is more aggravating than playing in a game, spending 5 minutes running from a killer that’s tunneling and end up de-pipping because of it?

Survivors can be just as toxic with advanced looping but once a killer gets a hold of you, they can ruin your entire game out of spite. It’s happening too much recently on Xbox, to say the least.

Like I know if a killer tunnels you down and camps you he is penalized. I dont really know what you mean. They even reward you now relatively with points for gens while you are in a chase. I think maybe you missing the killer view here. Try to hard tunnel/camp as killer and check your statistic afterwards.

  • Well thats a really good question. If we only talk about slugging I think its healthy and needed. As killer you use it to apply more pressure and as survivor you can counter it with teamwork. But there are certain situations where I think its unhealthy. For example to get the 4k and thats a completely different story. If we speak about mori spam thats just a nuisance. Maybe you could implement something that lets you cancel the animation once. Imo thats reasonable.

It is like 3 or 5 minutes, add the loading screen and how long it takes to find a game and another loading screen..

Nobody likes waiting but thats just how it is. There is no hostage situation and if the killer wants you to bleed out then well he leaves you on the floor for 2 min. If you dont like to get slugged you better bring a perk to help you out.

And yes you need to wait to answer your question.

That would be good, but some peoples like me that wants to farm some bps can't wait 2 minutes, that's a waste of time which I could make a lot of bps and is negated for a d!ck killer.

you cant wait 2 min? sounds like dbd is not the game for you :D

  • I would go to toilet, get myself some snacks or something to drink, watch yt vids or streams and then go into the next game tbh ^^

  • tunneling is showing affection. fbm

I can play fair as killer at red ranks, I'm by no means a good killer, atrocious compared to how I am as a survivor. I don't play fair for the survivors benefit, I do it because I find it more fun to play that way and winning that way is more rewarding than if I played scummy.

I'm a bad killer but I can get a 4k against a rank 1 SWF group, with the weakest killer in the game (Leatherface) without using Ruin, Noed, by camping or tunnelling. Every time I hear a killer main say "you have to camp and tunnel to win at red ranks" I just think that killer just isn't good enough to play at red ranks.

I don't see Otz, Monto, or Tru3 having to camp and tunnel to win games at rank 1.

I do prefer a playstyle without camp, tunnel, slug too. But only because you can 4k at R1 with a low tier killer doesnt mean anything. If we talk about the performing of killers its about consistency. I think no one would deny that you can 4K with any Killer at R1. Just yesterday I had a match playing Huntress vs 3man swf on coldwind. They were so focused on destroying my ruin that I had an easy time. I didnt even need my other perks, to refill my hatchets and I played without addons. Ofc you dont need to camp, tunnel, slug (c,t,s) but it definitly helps to perform more consistent and makes your killer games less sweaty. So only because you and I dont play that way and still perform good/ok doesnt mean its not beneficial or the killers are bad who c,t,s.

I also think its a bad idea to mention streamers in any discussion. These guys literally do nothing besides playing DbD. Btw your listed streamers do c,t,s. They try not to but still do.

I think you're absolutely right about not adjusting playstyle to take less risks with an iri huntress. It's definitely harder to avoid on PC, but PC survivors have some good movement options that aren't discussed in-depth much. I'm actually surprised it's not more commonly known

I think a lot comes down to adjusting, but its almost normal for bE to fix things players dont like to adjust to.

Yeah thats suprising for me too. Id like to know more of the differences between console and pc survivors. My last stand is like a said over 2 years old.

  • I can only talk about console huntress here. Back then when I played on PC you had 3 iri hatchets with the addon before the nerf and that was kinda crazy. So on console I never encountered a good huntress with iri head the last 2 years. I main huntress and almost never use them myself. Ofc on console its a different case but its not like iri head is too strong. I think the main problem here are the survivor who play vs iri heads the same way like against every other huntress.

  • I remember when Iri head reduced your hatchets by 2 not 4. It was a hot topic back then if its too much of a nerf. I think Iri head is a strong addon worthy of ultra rare. Its nothing overpowered.

  • @nathangamer said:

if been playing now and when i entered in a match i have seen nothing but huntresses now when back then you can barley find one NOW everyone wants to be huntress and the dumb thing about huntress is that if you loop her while you drop pallet you get hit anyone . hiding behind rocks somtimes still hit . so other words hitbox is #########. they should nerf the range or cooldown or somthing i mean people knowing to snipe with huntress is annoying.

i mean honestly how can counter the huntress if she gets close you have to be lucky she doesnt have her hatch drawn before you drop the pallet but thats the problem . not to mention she can bloody one shot people from far away with add ons which is way too op. then you look at demo ######### addons .

    did you play huntress?

Full build was BBQ&C, Thrilling Tremors, PGTW, and Ruin. It did really well with Pig, but I have no idea on Wraith honestly, but I wish you good luck. It was definitely fun and it seemed fundamentally really strong, but like I mentioned I didn't exclusively test it outside P2 Pig and Farm builds.

I personally like to play DBD killers with a build that compliments each killer and work around that. I'm not a big fan of 17 killers with little or no variation in builds.

Yeah same here. I always try out different perk combinations that benefits the killer. Also the synergy with the addons is really important for me to make a complete build. Imagine one build for all killers, yikes.

  • @Liruliniel said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/937031#Comment_937031

The builds pretty fun honestly since it more or less covers all the basis for what you need and it is pretty versatile. The biggest advantage is that between BBQ and TT you can effectively know which gen's are lost and which gens to pop. Where all survivors are at any time when you hook someone and down people. TT seals gens for 16 seconds during travel time which makes up for the lack of pressure at that time. If you don't actively make it obvious you have BBQ you can do some pretty impressive plays. I usually toss it on a Killer as a farming build though since i normally avg a 4k and 30k points with this build.

I ended up with it on Pig by accident since it was just the best perks plus a farming perk since i was attempting to P3. I will say it definitely was fun on her since with her RBT you can really really hurt people because of all the delays and awareness. Then again Pig is also one of my mains.

Sounds really interesting. I think I will try it on wraith with faster movement and pgtw. Hope I will manage to pull off some nice plays. It sounds really evil ^^ muhahaha

  • I think I spent more money on auric cells than on DbD with all dlcs.

  • @Liruliniel said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/936941#Comment_936941

I still disagree. TT has more information and is useful for longer in multiple situations then BBQ. As someone who uses it then you should understand the uses it can bestow is generally more useful in more situations. While BBQ may provide raw information it wont provide any.other details or help.

On a side note try using both it has a very interesting result. When I leveled my Pig for p3 I ended up with BBQ, TT, PGTW, and Ruin as my better Perks. It was quite interesting to see how people react since you can play them pretty well.

Your the one who brought up experience, your the one who twisted BBQ provides information 80% you already know, and your the one who continues to mention it as I just reply. I wasn't offended either clearly it's starting to bother you tho so let's no longer mention it after this.

I said 80% and not experince solely based on the fact you dont need any experince to understand people want to do the objective. Which can and will be Gen, Unhook, Totems. You see a lot of these with BBQ. A person can watch a streamer and then pick up the game. With no experience they can understand basic logic.

Im really only disargeeing in the information aspect here. I think its eitherway difficult to compare bbq and TT because they serve different uses. For example Bbq is awesome to pin point survs. That can be very strong in combination with certain builds. TT is for example awesome for fast traversing killers and get the information on gens.

I will give it a try. It sounds really intersting. I was always thinking bbq and TT combined is a bit too much for gen/survivor observation. Would you recommend a certain killer with it like pig?

Ofc it bothers me because its annoying. Therefore Im going to ignore this section.

Look dude you want to continue arguing for BBQ go for it. We obviously have different opinions on which of the 2 is better. Both have advantages and disadvantages. I personally see TT has more advantages over BBQ no matter how minor they may be.

You pointed out the stall philosophy of the perk. I just mentioned that currently the meta is in that direction. Also Surveillance is a pretty mediocre perk unlike Discordance. Anyways TT plus Surge works better simply because you net about 27% regression. Discordance is good solely to catch multiple people at a location. Both of those are situational at best. While Discordance is amazing early game Surveillance is better late game.

16 seconds not 15. You can hide behind a gen against BBQ without ever letting go and not be seen it's all about the angles. The 16 seconds of sealing on a gen is invaluable in comparison. Also all 2 people on a gen with BBQ tells you is that gen is officially lost by the time you get there.

You are the one who mentioned experience as a counterpoint. I point out BBQ is only useful in providing information you already know 80% of the time. So dont try to side track a discussion and act like I'm the one who has done it when your the one trying to twist comments to suit your own purpose.

Thats the point in a discussion, to understand differenct opinions. We dont have to have the same one. Its not like Im a bbq fan. I also run TT in my standard loadout for my main. But imo if I compare them in point of information bbq is more viable. That was the point I wanted to make in regards of your original statement.

I mentioned the locker in this comparison because its the most consistent way to avoid bbq. The gen would also be lost with TT in that case. I dont understand your point here.

I dont sidetrack anything. I said "I think experienced players will prefer bbq over TT in terms of information". Instead of feeling personal offended you just could have asked how I come to this thinking. You even make me respond to this annoying bs twice.

Are you seriously acting like these weren't things survivors did regularly before the challenges came out?

Im not acting at all. Are you acting like the amount of basement builds you face didnt raise at all? Do you act like all survivors playing the game like they did before the challenges?

  • Well they ruined many of my games. survs running around doing chests , camp for unhook, search other survs to heal them, etc.

Killers try to hook all in basement is by far the most annoying one for me. I even had matches where the killer let me wiggle out to make the way across the whole map to hang me downstairs. What a fun experience.

As killer I got easier games. Otherwise I felt no impact.

  • Tbh when I first saw that cosmetic I thought it was for Nea. Im not a fan of it because I think it doesnt suit her imo.

You seem to point out the flaws in TT, but seem to forget that BBQ has flaws too. A survivor can hide in locker, your TR, and even behind a gen. Both perks bank on the survivors letting the perk be useful. Only difference is at least if everyone gets off a gen then for 16 seconds no objective can be done which has better potential than BBQ.

Since part of the meta is legit stall tactics as well that should verify TT as a stronger perk since PGTW is a huge part of the meta.

Btw I dnt mention BBQ stacks for BP simply because it does not affect game play outside of a reason to pick BBQ.

I love how you say experienced yet dont know anything about my playtime xD as far as you could know I can have anything for 20 minutes to 7k hours. Just feels kinda like your trying to put me down because either your losing the argument, dont want to continue a discussion, or you realize I'm probably right when your thinking about it.

No Im aware of the counters to bbq as well. But comparing the same scenario bbq will be better information wise. Like I said I wouldnt compare the stalling to bbq. Ofc thats a minor advantage of running TT.

You seem to compare many different things that are not the points of my disagreement. But Ill go with it. If stall is meta and you want to use pgtw the most efficient way, I would recommend discordance or surveillance. Because they are the most dependable perks in terms of which gen gets worked on.

Just for clarification, TT will have almost the same effect as bbq in gen stalling. If the survivors keep doing the gen, you will know this with bbq and TT and the stalling effect of TT wont activate. You see that the gen gets worked on with both perks. But bbq will tell you how many survs working on the gen. If they let go of the gen to avoid the effect of TT you get the 15 seconds stalling. If the survivor leaves the gen to avoid bbq he needs to find a locker or otherwise he will be seen with bbq. The time to get in the locker and the time for bbq to run out and get back to the gen can also be seen as stalling effect.

To the "experienced players" topic. I didnt say that you are inexperienced nor experienced. I didnt personally adress you. If you feel that way, then you understood my point wrong. Also its kind of funny how you tried to put me down first with that logic. "...but once you play the game enough BBQ is telling you what you already know 80% of the time". Let me use your argument against you. So you are telling me I played the game not enough? Strange because you dont know anything about my playtime. lol

Stop using snowflake tricks to make an off topic discussion. Thank you

  • @Liruliniel said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/936598#Comment_936598

My view is since the primary objective is gen control and hooking. Having gens blocked for 16 seconds tells you where people are and makes it so downtime carrying survivors is not as rough. If you run PGTW you now have a specific target as well to regress.

The information BBQ provides is really good, but once you play the game enough BBQ is telling you what you already know 80% of the time.

In the end I just feel its preference. While I do like both it's mostly for different reasons. I've also run both at the same time and realized it's a little OP if you know how to exploit it.

If you only look at stalling you are right. But comparing bbq and TT only makes sense information wise. Also if you know the killer has TT you wont be touching a gen if its not close to be finished when the killer downs a survivor. So the information is limited. They need to be at the gen for you getting the information. Thats very limited. Lets go with an example. Lets say there are 2 survivors at a gen and one survivor at another by activation. With TT you would go and check one of those gens with the information you got. With bbq you can see how many survs are at the gen. You even get the information if a surv is running away for the unhook or is hiding in the area.

"...but once you play the game enough BBQ is telling you what you already know 80% of the time." - Well that would apply to TT then as well.

I think experienced players will prefer bbq over TT in terms of information. If you go full stalling then I would preder TT.

  • @Liruliniel said:

Thrilling Tremors is a better version of BBQ&C for information and gen blocking. It does more then BBQ&C does. It mostly comes down to BP or Gen Lock.

Roughly every killer has at least one good perk thats useful from Clown going on forward.

Sorry if it is off topic but I would say bbq is a better version of thrilling tremors. You only block for a short amount the gens nobody is working on. And TT has a cooldown. You only get gen information. With bbq you dont have a cooldown and get more and better information.

  • I dont even know what the deal with iri hatchets is. I almost never use them or see them being used. Mby on console its different. But if they change iri heads with an announcement Im gonna get rid of those 500 heads for sure xD

  • Im sure dedicated servers make it worse but you have the same problems on console. Cant count the times hatchets flew right through where the hitbox of the surv was. Just yesterday I watched how my hatchets traveled through the survivor as he was in animation lock on a pallet.

  • Agree. It will get really bad after a few rank resets. All the people will have an easier time to get to red ranks over some seasons and you dont even have to play that much. If you play enough to rank up 1 color each season you will be red ranks in no time. to go up 5 ranks each season instead of 10 ranks is not a big deal. Even with the old rank reset you had a lot of low skilled players in higher ranks. But combining this with the new rank reset and the matchmaking I see no reason to play red ranks anymore. I rushed to R1 every season to at least have the chance to play with more skilled players. Totally worthless soon.

  • Idk but maybe we tend to forget the old queue times. Its right that you find killer matches far quicker than survivor matches. But compared to the lobby simulator before where you sometimes even waited over an hour, it is better now. I think there were always less killer players. But the new mm is now more generous. Especially swf had crazy queue times.

Well i wouldn't like seeing just 1 of the 2 extremes, that's for sure.

But that doesn't make me like both extremes either.

A necessary evil, i may name it.

Totally agree. I think in view of other issues in the current game this is something minor. Ofc there will be always extremes that are unfair and sometimes need to be adressed, but looking at the grand picture the gate issue is ok imo. I appreciate the time and thoughts you put in our little discussion. Thank you and have fun in the fog :)

  • @Boss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/935039#Comment_935039

Would you then argue it's always better to have them closer, since there's already a lot of advantages?

Or do you not mind RNG sometimes giving them an extra (dis)advantage?

I think when it comes to the spawn of the gates rng is fine here. But thats not only based on the one survivor alive scenario. One time you get good rng as killer and have a strong gate play, another time you get got rng as survivor and pressure the killer more.

For example if you have always a close gate spawn it will get unfair for survivors. you could hook someone between the gates and still be able to pressure both. With certain killers you would have an enormous advantage every game. You could even play only on defenting the gates.

  • @Boss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/934991#Comment_934991

Cause that would then only apply to me, one of thousands of Killers.

Also, i technically did do my "Find the last Survivor", just like everyone always does during the entire match: You can often find them near their primary objectives.

Maybe lets try to see it with a change. So if the gates are further away and/or out of los you would increase the escape chance for a single survivor drastically. How would that be ok? The "gate game" versus one survivor is hard as it is. First you need to find the hatch or the last survivor and be lucky enough that he doesnt get to the hatch while in chase. Also he could have a key, be already at the hatch camping it or know where it is. If you manage to close the hatch the survivor still could have a key. If he doesnt you need to decide which gate you check first. And the surv could already be at it because he just waited for you to close the hatch. 50/50 you go to the right gate and the hatch is close to the exit gates. If the two gates are close by to each other its at least a little advantage. If not well then its a total get lucky thing. So in theory preventing close gate spawns will add to all the advantages a single survivor already has in this scenario. He has always a chance to escape. I wouldnt raise this chance even higher

  • Agree. Sounds are a mess. I downed two people pretty close to each other. I swear I couldnt find the first one because I couldnt hear her.

Had also a game on coldwind where a injured nea chilled in the corner behind an obstacle. I could only hear her when I stood right behind her. No iron will

Rancid Abbatoir, standing on the side of the main building where you face the outer wall of the map.

What's obvious? Both Exit Gates are on this side.

And i stand here because i have a perfect view on both Exit Gate Switches, i'll see them running up to them, and even if i don't, i'll see the red lights.

It's not far either, i'd make either one by the time 1 light is on.

Hatch was closed by me, they had no Key, and i don't know if they could find one.

Still killed them though, cause Killer instinct.

    So why do i disagree?

Cause the devs said: You should always, as Survivor, at least have a chance to escape.

This statement is build upon the fact that the Killer is going to kill you.

I will easily make it to either Exit Gate once i spot them.

If they don't go for the Exit Gate, they can only count on finding a Dull- or Skeleton Key in a Chest, if they hadn't all been searched yet.

Their only true hope is that i'd become friendly, which against most Killers, including me this match, is usually a hope that doesn't come true.

I really don't care if the devs want End Game Collapse to be more Survivor or Killer-sided, i love that the match will just end.

But i do actually like the idea that they can always do something, and this goes directly against it.

If you disagree, that's okay, more than fine, you can have your opinion.

    This is mine.

P.S. If you're wondering about that build: I just did the final Killer Challenge on Tome IV, to hook 5 in the Basement during 1 match.

    Add-ons didn't matter to me.

It also went way too well, i think i got all 5 in the first minute.

Well ofc this situation is killer sided. And I think thats totally fine. By then the survivors had several opportunities to escape via hatch or gens completition. And the gate locations are rng. Cant count the times the gates were so far away from each other and out of los so the last one had an easy time escaping. And you also said it yourself, the survivor has always a chance to escape. He could have found a key or opened an exit gate. Only because you stood in the middle of the two gates decreased the chance to escape via gate. If you think its unfair, why didnt you look around for the last survivor instead of camping there?

Yeah thats right. Its really hard for me to make myself believe the devs balance on both sides atm. Im not the greatest killer or survivor player but I usually play on R1. Of course! If this was an objective matter I wouldn't need to ask people about it, I'd just try and work it out from the definitions and mechanics. But it's not, so this thread exists so you can give your opinion and everyone else can give theirs.

Like I said, while my hypothesis was mostly confirmed, it's hardly universally true. It's more like a tendency than a rule of some kind. It would be weird if everyone agreed about it.

I get that yeah. I understand that you want to confirm your hypothesis but I think its too biased to actually confirm it. I would just take it like you said as a collection of different opinions.

Either way thanks for the interesting exchange of thoughts. And one last thing. MTG is the best game ever invented ♡

It's to balance out gameplay, and ranks is not an accurate depiction of a player. I've had potato survivor at purple ranks, either get out of lower ranks or make the best of each trial. Just saying if you're constantly being group with lower ranks maybe it says more about your level of gameplay as well(not hating just an observation)

how is it balancing out gameplay if you get matched with +6 -6 ranks. I agree ranks are not skill based but anyone who played DbD for a longer period of time can see differences between even rank 1 and rank 2. Sure you find good and bad players in every rank but thats not the issue. I think its fair to expect to play with and versus killers and survivors close to your rank. The + - 6 seems off. I dont want to get matched with a rank 7 killer if I play rank 1 for example. "Make the best of your trial" just leads to ignorance to an obvious matchmaking problem.

Just like you said not everyone can pull it off. It's removing something that creates a skill ceiling for survivors which is needed. There are times you are forced to unhook in front of a killer, in cases of camping, bt save, end game, the list goes on.

Agreed its a skill ceiling. But thats the only reason.

    Camping - do gens

BT saves - it also works if the killer is not right behind you

End game - did you mean camping in endgame? If so then just leave. Endgame unhooks most likely result in hook trading.

You can go on with your list if you like. Its overly altruistic thinking. Thats why these scenarios seem unfair to you without the hook tech.

Ok that makes a bit more sense.

Do keep in mind that part of the point of this thread (while not quite the MAIN point) was to differentiate between winning and enjoyment, because while correlated, one does not imply the other.

However winning is inherently satisfying to a degree (which is what you just pointed out), so it's a bit more than a correlation. More importantly though, this means that LOSING and still being satisfied is not due to the inherent properties of the outcome. This lets us control for that variable thus leaving the gameplay itself as the satisfying element. Identifying THAT is the actual function of this thread.

Like ok so old Legion was unsatisfying to lose to because both the Killer didn't need Skill to catch you and you as the Survivor couldn't use skill to avoid him. So I would expect to see a bunch of people citing skillful gameplay from the other side and from themselves as satisfying.

    And sure enough:

Lots of people agreeing that skillful play from the other side overcoming your own legitimate efforts can feel great.

It's obviously not the ONLY satisfying kind of loss, but it's pretty much what I was expecting.

Plus it's also just nice to stand back and think about what you actually consider being legitimately outplayed, so you have something to contrast the BS loses with.

I understand your point of view. Its just that it doesnt reflect mine.

You mentioned "Lots of people agreeing that skillful play from the other side overcoming your own legitimate efforts can feel great." And I think that is where I have a different opinion. I want to leave aside the skill thing because thats very dependend on someones point of view. If I get outplayed, and sure I get, the question is why. If I get outplayed because of certain perks or by the other players using coms, how should I come to the conclusion they outplayed me on a fair level? I also wouldnt claim I outplayed the killer by losing him due to iron will or sound problems ingame. I wouldnt say I outplayed a survivor because of spirit fury or double backing. Its difficult for me to identify this skillful play in an unbalanced game with many different things that influence the actual game experience.

  • Did you mistakenly write nerf instead of buff D: xD
