  • It's only been a week that you played killer. Do you expect to be amazing as killer in a week? Cuz I sure didn't become amazing in a week. Same goes for survivor. It takes time to develop your own flow as killer. You've played survivor this whole entire time, which helps you as killer since you will know the tricks of the trade that survivors do. You'll even discover more survivor tricks playing killer that you might not have known!

At the moment, matchmaking is pretty messed up so you will get matches that have high disparities in ranks, which are very unfair. However, take the losses as learning experience and see how you can do better in the next trial. I've faced very toxic groups of survivors, but I have found that 90% of them are overly altruistic, so use that to your advantage. Is ruin necessary? I don't think it is if you can keep constant pressure towards the survivors. Yeah, they might finish 2 or even 3 right away, but the match it isn't over yet. Usually a 3 gen scenario happens which works in your favor.

Experiment with different perks and builds for different killers. Hag is a very strong killer that can have complete map control if you play her right. I'm actually glad she's underrated because she can be a complete nightmare to survivor.

  • I understand why people use it. However, it does not fit my play style at all so for me, it's a worthless perk. On the rare occasions that I do play with it, I find it more distracting watching the icon to see if it even lights up. You might say, why would I need to focus on the bottom perk to see if it lights up when the repair bar turns yellow? Well, I usually pair up spine chill with resilience so the bar is already yellow due to resilience staying active!

  • I managed to finish the rift before level 4 released, so I'm definitely going to buy the next pass. I got my money's worth and earned it back.

I do wish that BHVR lets us equip more than one challenge as I feel that the reason why some of these challenges took forever is because you had to do them one at a time. For example, I had actually saved 2 people during end game collapse before they changed it, but guess what? It didn't matter because I was still doing the 25 unhook challenge. For killer, I had sacrificed all 4 survivors in the basement before, but once again, it didn't matter because I had another challenge going.

Some of the challenges also encouraged very scummy play, which I don't enjoy. Make the master challenges/do x in a single trial spread out to several trials instead of one. Increase the amount you have to do, I don't care.

  • I guess I don't take this game too seriously like others and I'm glad I don't. I am facing red ranks in every match and I'm doing fine without having ruin equipped. Playing as Trapper too. You win some and you lose some. That's fine with me. Unlike with solo survivor, I feel have better control how the match is going to play. Usually survivors will 3 gen themselves when ruin is not in play, so even if the first two gens pop, they will usually screw themselves towards the late game.

I've faced sabotage crews and the best solution is to slug them. They will have unbreakable and will pick themselves up, but remember that it only works once! Once they use it, they're #########. And remember, if they're sabotaging hooks, they are not doing gens, which works in your favor. I've had a guy who had no mither equipped and was sabotaging hooks in my face and tbagging. Guess what I did? I just slugged him and camped him, ignoring everything else and would wait for him to pick himself up, only to smack him again. Over and over again. It was the most hilarious thing ever. He bled to death. See ya!

  • I have been done with the rift before level 4 of it released. I still completed all the challenges of the last level and have been done with everything for about two weeks. I have to say that it feels liberating playing normally and not have to worry about getting x challenge done.

  • He's my favorite killer. I don't even use ruin on him and have been performing quite well versing red ranks on PS4. Yes, survivors will do the first two gens easily, but then they always 3 gen themselves. Once they start landing on a trap area, it's basically over. Then it's just adding pressure on the last gens.

  • Devotion 11, Level 47.

  • You should be happy if you're killer and they're running it. It only benefits you lol

  • As Trapper, I love body blocking a survivor who is hiding in some random corner only to lay down a bear trap and watch them land on it immediately. <3

  • You leave my main Trapper boy alone! Us Trapper mains gotta continue being the wholesome gang!

  • Trapper boy is best boy! And my main!

  • I'm glad that Hag isn't picked that often because she is very strong. The few Hag players I've met on PS4 have absolutely crushed the survivors.

  • Got a killer to message me very upset because of my "OP" perks: Poised, Lithe, Dance with Me, and Lightweight.

Didn't hook me once, accused of me of being a coward when I did gens and rescued people. He said poised was such an OP perk. I lost him 4 times during that match when he was chasing me and he swore that if he ever runs into me again, he will tunnel and mori me. lol

Although he may not have admitted it, he was upset he couldn't get his 4th BBQ stack.

  • I don't usually do it, tbh. But when I do, it's because of the team mates I'm getting. Either a SWF who won't save, sand bag me, or if I see that they have literally not done anything midway the match. I kid you not, there have been some games in red ranks where a killer won't even have ruin, and it's like my team mates are allergic to gens. Don't see the point in staying around in those types of matches.

  • No. It's happened to me before, but hey what can you do? If your team did gens for that time it was worth it. Although sometimes I'll run the killer for a long time and no gens get done because of ruin. That's very disheartening for me.

  • Yes. I'll happily accept to lend a helping hand out.

  • It was spent cooking all day. We make a lot of variety of food.

  • I did the challenge as a solo survivor and I was rank 1. Perks I used: Dark Sense, Better Together, Bond, and Prove Thyself. You can also use Kindred instead of better together.

I wouldn't call being lagged every time the killer hits you "tolerable".

That doesn't happen to me. I always make sure I check the killer's ping before committing to a match. On the other hand, when I play killer, there's frame rate drops every time blood lust activates. I don't notice anything when I'm being chased or hit as survivor.

  • For survivor it's tolerable. For killer though sometimes is frustrating with the performance issues. I have to constantly restart the game after a few matches because otherwise it becomes very slow and unbearable. PS4.

  • I've been doing it since Dwelf released! You bet I'll do it tonight!

  • 4 pallet stuns. Red rank killers respect pallets the majority of the trials and hardly anyone was running spirit fury + enduring combo.

  • I'll prioritize a generator over healing you, period. The only way I will heal you right away is if we'll make it is still active or if I have botany knowledge. Even then, gens are the utmost priority to getting us out of the trial.

  • I don't even bring items 90% of the time when I play. The reason? Most killers will dodge the lobby if they see X amount of items in the lobby. I don't even remember the last time I brought a tool box into a trial and didn't get lobby dodged...

  • Just finished level 4 100%.

I was tier 70 before the new level went live. Overall, I enjoyed the challenges, but I wish that some of them get reworked so that they're not based on luck. Some of them were quite the nightmare as a solo survivor and killer. The sacrifice all 4 survivors in level 4 took me way too many games because survivors will totally ruin the whole thing for you.

I liked that I was encouraged to use other perks, but for everyone's sanity please reduce the amount of luck based challenges for the next tome. Master challenges should be done in several matches instead of just a single one. Increase the amount of x objective if you have to.

  • It is not in any of my loadouts unless it's a character I prestiged and don't have other perks. Self care ruins too many red rank games IMO.

  • SWF have screwed me over way too many times as a solo survivor. So for us solos, we not only have to worry about the killer, but also the SWF. This is on red ranks on PS4. Sometimes they'll be overly altruistic and all of them go down in a very quick manner, other times they'll be super toxic and body block you/be toxic to the killer, at times they'll be playing with their yellow rank friends which unfortunately puts us at a disadvantage, they'll prioritize themselves on the hooks and leave you to die on your first, etc.

I run kindred now so I can see what everyone else is doing when someone else is hooked. If my generator is almost finished, I will prioritize it first before going for the rescue UNLESS I see that you're almost going into the struggle phase.

  • Kindred is a base perk that every survivor has access to. They don't need to level up a survivor to get it as a teachable. With the recent buff, why on EARTH wouldn't you use Kindred in your loadout as a solo survivor? Is it because you're afraid to sacrifice one of your precious meta perks? Cuz if that's the reason, then you suffer because you want to.

I 99% play solo survivor in red ranks and you can definitely afford to give up a perk slot for all the information buffed kindred gives you now. Expecting this type of information to be given for free is ridiculous to me.

  • All this time I thought it was Nea instead of Meg. 😂

  • Dark sense one I finished on my first match because a Hag was persistent enough to defend her ruin totem, which we just worked through it. I had better together, prove thyself, dark sense, and bond.

I'm really having a problem with stunning the killer 4 times with a pallet in a single trial. A lot of the killers in red rank PS4 respect pallets and will refuse to get stunned. Not sure how this will be possible without farming.

Also, you shouldn't be hooking survivors in the basement for the sacrifice challenge. Just 2 hook them normally, but make sure the last hook is the basement. If other survivors see that you're constantly hooking them in the basement, they will more than likely DC or take you as far away from the basement.

  • Dwight and shirtless David.

Dwight because I love all 3 of his perks and his cosmetics. Shirtless David because, do I need to say anything else!?

  • Yep. It's a MUST for playing solo. Some people don't think it's worth a perk slot. Can you believe it? lol

  • 4 times Vigil!

    .....ANYONE? *crickets*

  • Use Kindred instead. That way you'll be able to see the auras of every other survivor and you'll know whether or not you should dedicate yourself in going for the save.

  • I got it using better together, prove thyself, spine chill, and iron will.

  • Currently rank 5 as killer and every game is red ranks. My main killer is Trapper, which according to the majority of the DbD community, is one of the worst killers in the game and I'm still having fun. Yeah there are games where I get destroyed, but I still try to play fair despite the toxic behavior of some of the red rank survivors. If I can 2 hook everyone, I'm fine with it. I am definitely learning a lot every single match.

My favorite killers: Trapper, Nurse (I won't give up learning her on PS4!), and Clown.

This must be the worst miserable experience right? Nope!

  • Just tonight I've played 6 games with ebony mori offerings. Red ranks PS4. Geez.

  • Congratulations! I'm slowly working my way to do that myself. Although I don't ever see myself getting the huntress ones.

  • I've noticed this tonight, but it's the killers disconnecting for me. As soon as the last gen pops or an exit gate is open, they will DC. And not just quit the match, I'm talking closing down the application and making everyone else not gain anything from the game. PS4.

  • Freddy.

Reason: my team mates never know how to properly deal with him so gens never get done. And if they're being worked on, they won't bother hiding in a locker or pretend to go in a different direction so Freddy doesn't pop goes the weasel it.

  • I've noticed a huge decrease in her pick rate on PS4. Then again that always tends to happen when there's new killers so I'll wait until another week or so for Oni's honeymoon to be over and see then.

Personally since I faced spirits constantly, I do know how to outplay them for a bit during chases even without iron will. Thing is... Just like with Freddy she's boring to go against because it always goes like this: spirit finds someone, hooks them, walks away, hears person is unhooked, phases back to hook, rinse and repeat. For Freddy, it's hook someone, teleport to a gen to pop goes the weasel it, with add ons that slow the game tremendously. I find Freddy worse though because he can camp all he wants without getting punished for it, which is complete BS.

  • I'd like to earn them in future events. It would be fair to everyone, including the ones that earned them during their original event. Kind of like last year's hollowed blight outfits were available to get with vials for this year's hollowed blight.

  • After this massive buff, Kindred is definitely on every single of my loadouts as a solo survivor. If you, as a solo survivor, think that it isn't worth a perk slot, then it's your loss period. Kindred is a base perk for everyone, meaning that you don't have to grind out a specific character to get it as a teachable so new players can get it right away and give them a lot of information.

I play solo survivor all the time and you can definitely afford to give up one of your meta perks for kindred. The information it gives us now is amazing and allows you to make decisions of whether or not you should continue working on a gen, or go for the save. That's the information I always wanted as a solo and now with this new buff, it's given to me. If you don't think it's worth a perk slot, your loss.

  • Poised, Lithe, Dance with Me, and Quick & Quiet.

  • Red rank on PS4. I've seen several.

  • I'm glad on the other hand. There's variety in red ranks and most trappers from my experience play very fair.
