  • @Marigoria Did you even watch the video before posting? If so, tell me what he could have done to actually win there.

  • @Kaitsja And what do you want to do in Dead by Daylight? You can either sit on gens or be chased.

Killer-survivor interaction is the only non boring part for me (That's why Blight is so cool, he cuts out running straight and it's just mindgames at loops the whole time).

I don't know man, if 60 seconds of free time (per survivor) in a game which can end in 4-5 minutes does not seem strong to you then I have no idea what would. For me it is hard counter, because getting hit by a ds usually means lost game if survivors actually try to win.

  • @Jago Exactly and we have a lot of new players :). It still can work on good killers too. I've seen a good dude with No Mither loop around my totem (I go 3 boons + Kindred recently cause how strong and team oriented it is) and holy crap, the amount of time he was able to waste and then disappear is unreal. And the best part is - it was quite good killer, a player I personally now quite well.

Shadowstep just needs a creative mind to get value out of.

  • I find Shadowstep way more game impactful than any other boon. Ever seen a killer loop themselves after survivor left? With this perk is a common sight :). The time it wastes and the amount of doubts it puts in killer's head is unreal.

The aura reading denial is really good too. I think people underrate this perk.

  • @Marigoria You have to understand it's 4/1 type of game. You can't win it by yourself. DS gives time to the remaining trio - and a lot of it!

DS applies pressure where it's even not in the game (Obsession is always present, no matter the perks).

  • It might be very unpopular opinion, but I do enjoy going against Rancor. It just this "Oh ######### oh ######### oh #########" moment when you see killer's aura for the first time and are actually worried that it might be tought to survive - it's a feeling I get very, very rarely as a survivor. I do understand why people dislike the perk, but I personally like it (I'm just too bored with the 'rugular' game).

I don't think I have a single killer perk I dislike going against as survivor, because most of the times it's "Oh thank god, they are not running meta stuff so they don't sweat too much" klind of feeling.

I do dislike going against full 3gen builds like Pop + Surge + Eruption + Pain resonance. While it's not the hardest to counter someone trying to set up a 3 gen, it is so god damn boring to do the same generator over and over again.

I always use Kindred so Fearmonger is always a thorn in my back. I don't dislike it per say, it just counters me so I pout :).

    As a killer:

Iron Will - It's such a cheap, passive constant value which forces killer to loop differently and constantly doubt themselves.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer The only perk really needed is Kindred. You can play around many things by seeing what is everyone up to. The only killer's who sometimes counter it are PyramidHead (Cages) or Slug heavy Nurse/Pig. Other than that just running Kindred gives you more than enough information - very compareable to what SWF gives.

Is it fair? No, everyone agrees that SWF is broken, but that's the reality we live in. Keys got dumpstered, so there is hope that devs will do something about SWF in 5 years or so.

  • @I_am_Negan If you can't read the title (which literally states what is the point) and didn't even take time to read through the meat of the article then I don't have answer for you.

  • I just did the archive challanges and that's it. I either play for memes or as a survivor now and I'm not coming back to killer until they remove hit validation. Which means I am most likely going to spend time on something else, cause survivor is boring.

  • @BreadTube Yes it does and I have written in detail how.

If the killer tunnels you and then spends 60 seconds waiting out your decisive, the other three teammates have time to complete two full generators. If they pick you up and get hit you get a free escape. It will take them about 20 seconds to catch up to you if you just just run straight. Even more if you made it to the loop. It is a lose-lose situation for a killer who really tunnels. It does deactivate, yes, but if you have time to touch totem, gen or other survivor you are clearly not being tunneled. Oh you wanted to tap gen in his face? Too bad.

If you combine this with the first chase and then time you actually spent on the hook other survivors have more than enough time to complete the objectives.

  • @XStormyXDayzX This is interesting, but BloodPoints are too easy to farm and it migt be too easy to buy non license dlcs. Unless the amounts would be very small. Still interesting though!

I miss times when survivors couldn't find ultra-rare things in chest, it really motivated to grind bloodwebs if someone liked to use broken crap.

  • @tesla It is a waste due to multiple of reasons:

    1. Equipping end game perks is preparing to loose (exception being No Way Out - this one is actually strong and healthy) instead of bringing in stuff that could help with the trial while it actually lasts
    2. Good survivors don't really care if they are injured or not and dead hard is perfect counter to noed.
    3. There are two items which can track totems and 4 perks which can track and/or make it faster to cleanse (6 if you count resilience and spine chill, 7 if you count Inner Strength as it motivates to break totems as well) and Small Game actually have a built in counter of totems in game... Survivor who does not want to be hit by noed will not get hit by it.
    4. Noed only gives killer one aditional hook state if survivors are not throwing or not being dumb - given you actually get to use it and find someone in time. Many people just leave seeing it or fearing Bloodwarden. Still a depip in emblem system.

While it is a joke of a perk which was already nerfed twice... it still works, but this only, because survivors let it work. Same goes for looping, if killer is bad and unlucky a survivor with brain will loop them for 5 gens without an exhaustion perk. Just like killer should know when to drop the chase or mind game a little bit, the survivor should know how to counter a perk THEY CRY ABOUT FOR 5 YEARS NOW.

The only killer I actually find it worth running on except for the memes is Myers - People don't expect it on him, because he does have instadown already. If last gen pops and you have tier 3 99ed, you just save it for the time when totems gets broken. While Myers is terrible compared to the rest of a roster, it is somewhat useful if you broke most of the pallets during the trial.

  • Can't pick any of the options, because it depends.

In general do not cleanse unless:

    1. You are dead on hook
    2. Other survivors cleanse as well
    3. You can use up the last remaining pool
    4. Gens are done
  • Every time a survivor tries to be sneaky, but my BloodHound allows me for a stop and dramatic, slow turn towards the snowman.

Been accused of hacking doing just that like 5 times already :)

  • Jesus, #########... christ... leave that overnerfed perk alone, it's already bad...

  • Yes it is in fact the snowman 'tech', here's a vid I found! https://youtu.be/0RgY72OFORM

  • Bhvr, please, especially now that you are giving away rift fragments :)

  • @White_Owl It literally is one line of code, don't be overdramatic. Trapper buff was awesome and we need more things like this.

  • @Bennett_They1Them Excuse me? Only extends the game... That's the main goal of all the meta killer perks. More time to break pallets and chases is the most wanted resource killer can have.

Issue with the perk is though, that for a 40s game delay it requires killer to spread his focus (which is the least efficient thing a killer can do) evenly for a one time use and not a even a huge value (depends on the trial, of course, sometimes it is game swaying things, more often though it does little) while not running anything else in the slot Grim Embrace uses.

  • @OverratedFool Yeah, this part really is weird. Maybe devs wanted us to combo this perk with Deadman's Switch, which is another bad gen blocking perk..? Dunno, both need some love IMO, because I don't see any reason to run it in place of 10 perks I usually run.

  • @jesterkind Yeah it's in a weird spot... It kind of encourages the 'healthy' gameplay of going for 12 chases and hooks... but the reward is too small to justify not targeting only two people back and forth.

Compared to No Way Out (which is very similiar perk) it is trash. 30 seconds is just not enough. I woud like to see something added to it... maybe give permanent 1/2/3% movement speed bonus for the killer (and it can only if exit gates are not powered yet, but once you get this bonus it stays for ever). I would actually try and get this.

  • Dbd is too good at making players feel like they are progressing towards something with all the little numbers, skins and unlockables.

Huge amount of well known licensed characters constantly bring new people in.

While I don't agree with recent direction the game is going (New map design (balance-wise, it looks dope actually)) hit validation, buff to Iron Will ect) it is and will be best in it's unique genre.

I also really like the concept of the Entity.

  • Springwood at least has some variety to it, while Lampkin Lane is the only map in the realm - meaning that survivors always get the map they want with an offering. Balanced Landing or Dance with me makes you basically untouchable on the map.

  • @Avilgus I am 99% sure it is already in the game, making sure the killer doesn't get the grab given the survivor presses any button for up to a second after the start of grab animation - it literally does look like this from both sides.

  • @Adjatha Naah, that's not it, what you mention was done long time ago and I did have consistent grabs not too long ago. It's worse than couple of patches ago.

  • Bruh... Otz plays this game for living... you can't compare top 1% killer to the rest...

By your logic, every killer is dogshit, because top 1% survivor teams can genrush litearlly every single killer with easy (except for Spirit where they have to guess)

  • Yup. 4perks slots vs 16 perk slots.

    Hexes: One time use

Boons: Infinite uses, 1 out of 16 perk slots benefits the whole team, not to mention that ever boon effect so far is game changing.

  • Because he is not as overpowered or easy to play as you think he is. Decent survivors eat him for breakfast.

Nemesis is fun, but not that good. Zombies make for pretty funny clips and moments though.

  • @Faulds Nowhere in my posts I stated that killer should see full survivor loudouts... just the items, but without ability to switch at the last second. Stop putting words into my mouth - again.

  • @Faulds But maps are not balanced and that's why map offerings are not okay - especially with realms with just a single and broken map.

Survivor don't know what they are going against - and that's how it should be. Imagine playing Myers, Wraith or Ghostface if survivors knew the identity since the beggining. Very old argument which doesn't make much sense - not untill the game is balanced or survivors are weaker side.

  • @dugman I know about mmr, that's why I think 2+ loudout slots for each killer should be a thing.

Seeing the survivors - I do think killer should be able to prepare themselves based on what they see in lobby as the weaker side of the game.

  • @Faulds Actually they are the problem, because survivors as stronger side are able to hide if they bring any items into the trial or not - and every item brings unique, otherwise locked mechanic.

Edit: Map offerings are problematic as well, because Haddonfield and The Game have single, broken map in realm, so survivors know exactly where are they going, unlike McMillan for example where they risk getting Shelter Woods.

  • @Lordofweed You meant of the worse killer perks? The one that gives no value during the actual trial and can be very easily stopped or prevented completely? Ok...

  • @Viamont Click penalty would empty a flashlight when used with macro in second or two, I doubt anyone would ever do thiis again if the penalty was implemented.

  • @ReverseVelocity It saves time as you don't need to kick gen, yes... given the rng doesn't screw you over.

  • @sizzlingmario4 While I agree with idea of different amounts of SHs per different map... let's be honest, bhvr aint doing this :).

  • @TAG This is correct, MS does not shave off even a single unhooking attempt and it's reduction of chances is multiplicative = useless.

  • @jesterkind So MS would be literally doing nothing without other Scourge Hook perks? Bad design.

  • They should be.

Basement is supposed to be this 'the worst place to be hooked or just be as a survivor".

Scourge hook perks aren't even that strong... so rng dependant...

Edit: To answer your question: because survivor mains will cry for Entity knows what reason about it and devs are scared about making little babies upset.

  • I'm so glad so many people don't like boons <3. Don't use them.

  • Then make noed, corrupt and bloodwarden base kit too.

If survivors need anti tunnel/camp measures by default, killers need anti genrush stuff.

Oh, not so fun all of the sudden?

Don't make stupid saves, genrush killers who camp and leave then with 1/2 hooks. That's how you solve the issue. Devs literally gave you all the tools needed, use them or at least don't cry if you refuse to use them.

  • If you use cosmetics for stealth or play survivor who is noticeably more quiet than others - you are cringe.

How many advantages you need in a survivor sided game?

  • It's very underrated IMO. I like addons for it (longer duration, aura reading) and it can be used as budget Agitation. Also throwing last bottle on your feet then reloading is a good use of those, not to mention getting hits on tiles (Cowshed long 'junk' loops for example) where majority of the killers can't even dream of getting.

He is still very bad, easily defeated in 4/1 or looped for ever if map rng is bad for him (but this goes for half (or more) of the cast), but smart use of orange bottles combined with slowdown of purple ones and one or two creative mindgames often leads to cheeky hits. Imo his buff was one of the better in history (especially lack of slowdown after throw and reload, but orange bottles are quite okay when you have a lil bit of creativity).

Edit: The addons I mentioned work really best with couple of instadown perks. People often try to sneak when they are exposed, so seeing their aura is free hook or two. As long as you don't make too obvious that you do see them it will work for most of the trial.

  • In all honesty, I have never seen community with so many entitled, stubborn, arogant or salty players. The entitlement is the worst part of it.

Not everyone is like this, but a big chunk is.

I do realize that the very design of the game often put you in already lost position and the other side didn't even outplay you, so them rubbing it in is annoying (Either multiple tiles connected to each other to verse as killer or a dead zone with every pallet already gone as survivor) ... but holy #########, so many adult children in here it's unreal. I would understood if they made their living out of this game... but raging over vid game you play for fun?

Edit: No, LoL is not even close.

  • Voice chat or ping system is basically Kindred on steroids - which means ever killer is getting genrushed in 4 minutes unless survivors are really, really not smart.

While I agree that this would close the gap between SWF and solo... This would increase toxicity by 400% at least (Just watch at all the raging streamers... you want to hear all of this in your games?) and the buffs to killers to compansate this should have to be huge... or maps would have to be completely changed - either remove half of tiles (which is bad, because survivor killer interaction is the most fun part during the trail) or add even more gens to repair (which is bad too, because three gen will be even easier to acomplish and noobs will be stomped even harder, not to mention actual holding m1 on gen is the most boring part of the game without the old ruin).
