But it is not stupid nor is it pandering. No char was ever confirmed not to be LGBT+. It’s something the creators probably thought about from the very beginning of the character but never felt the need to mention yet. And they will only mention it if it feels fitting to the story they want to tell.
if it doesn’t matter then it should not affect you. But it does matter to you.
Nurse, Frank and julie were all implied to be straight. It matters because they're pandering, my point. They're slapping the label on characters just because they can. They're trying to shove it in our faces which is unnecessary.

You don’t know how they will incorporate LGBT+ stuff.
we already know there is one in the current roster but they just never mentioned it before. That’s pretty much what you are asking for and that’s how they will probably handle it.
the only „pandering“ here is that they gave the official statement during pride month. They also said why they gave the statement: feedback and questions from the community. If they didn’t make a statement it would have been wrong also, so it was lost situation for them really.. and they handled it probably the best way possible.
Just saying that I don't want them to add to already existing characters because that's stupid and pandering. If they add new gay/ trans or bi characters I don't really care. Sexuality doesn't matter in a game like dbd and that's the bottom line. It may be nice for some people to know, but it has no effect on gameplay.

I just wanted to thank you/I am not here to cause anyone trouble with the words of "pandering" :( I am not gay/bi or anything and I find it offensive to my friends/family that companies do this in June only and never did it from the start.
Most companies only care about us when it's June. Its just sad that they don't support us any other time until it's benefitting them.

Just saying that you'd probably still have better matches.

I'm glad you understand.
I think you're wrong about the devs not caring. They've expressed support for the LGBT community multiple times, not just during pride month. Of course, that doesn't mean they don't expect to make a profit from it - they're still a company, after all, and they need to make ends meet.
I'm not saying they don't care. I'm just saying that they care a lot more during these times. They probably do care, they just probably don't care as much as they claim and let on.

Tbh the only lore I'm interested in is Doctor's lore. It's just amazing how much they took from the real world to make his lore.
I only really cared about huntress lore and nurses lore.

I was honestly never interested in most characters lore lol.

Let's say they're just doing this to make themselves look good. So ######### what? Why is it a bad thing that they're giving LGBT characters the same treatment as non-LGBT characters? If they'd waited until July, for example, do you seriously think there wouldn't have been any outrage?
Again, I ask that you put yourself in my shoes and try to look at it from my PoV. I don't even care about representation, just for the record.
Seeing it that way, it would seem like a double standard. And outrage is always unnecessary for something like this. I'm not outraged, I'm just giving my opinion but I understand your POV. Your pov doesn't apply to me in particular but I see where you're coming from. And I do think that the dev's don't genuinely care about lgbt as much as they say they do. They're just like every other company that supports pride only when it's convenient for them. They never wanna say anything about it until it benefits them more, like pride month.
-
I love the huntress lore and the nurse lore. The hag also has good lore but huntress and nurse are my favs

That's how they did it with Frank and Julie, for example, to zero outrage.
I'd like to ask that you put yourself in my shoes for a moment and look at it from my point of view. When Frank and Julie became a confirmed (heterosexual) couple via the rift, there was no outrage. Nobody cared, nobody made a big deal out of it, nobody opposed it. However, when the devs hinted at the possibility of confirming that some characters are LGBT, immediate outrage ensued, including from people who have never even read the lore and claim not to care about it, but are still upset that the lore will include those confirmations anyway.
You may say the outrage has nothing to do with anti-LGBT sentiment, and in your particular case I'm inclined to agree, but you can't deny that it looks exactly like anti-LGBT sentiment when LGBT people getting the same exact treatment as non-LGBT people gets this many people riled up.
Tbh I didn't even know that Frank and julie were a couple. So I can't really speak on that. My MAIN issue is that I feel like the dev's are only doing this to make themselves look good for pride month. They never did any of this before pride, and they're probably only doing it to make themselves look good. (Talking about outing gay characters on my last sentence).

Well, imo I can only imagine they will have to make both gay and bi males and females, because if they make it a bisexual male, how does that make the females feel included? Lesbians will feel left out, and if they make it bisexual, actual homosexuals will not feel included - they will be forced to make both bisexual and gay males and females, and that leaves out trans, so thats minimum of 6 survivors who need to be labeled via their sexuality.
Personally, I dont care. The only males I play are Bill and Ash, I doubt theyll out either one as gay, however I DO play Kate, Laurie, and Feng as females and I would play them if they were lesbian. But again, that prefaces my entire point, if they confirm Kate a lesbian, where is the inclusiveness for gay men? So they will need to balance it out.
Yeah, I just really don't think it's important. I get why some people want representation but I've just never felt like I needed any or wanted any.

She's pretty hard to play. Unfortunately I quit killer so I can't really give tips anymore. All I can say is that you'll get used to it after a while.

Some of the characters already present in the game are LGBT, though. The devs want to out them all instead of only the straight ones. The whole point of the rift (besides the battle pass) is to add more lore pertaining to old characters.
The way I see it is "hmm, let's just list a few random characters that are gay with no thought behind it". When they randomly out characters like this, that's all I see it as.
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1350816#Comment_1350816
Yes, we agree, they shouldn't have outed any of them. However, they did, so we need to move past "shoulda coulda woulda", just like the devs did.
There's nothing more organic than a character who happens to be LGBT, because that's how it is IRL as well. The "label slapped on them" is exactly how it should be done, as opposed to making their orientation their main (or only) defining characteristic.
Having it be a main component of their backstory is basically the definition of "shoving it in our faces".
Exactly my point. But it would be nice if they added these characters into the game rather than focus on old characters who's lore has already been shared. Make new characters with new lore and whatever else they want. It's stupid to out old characters just because they can.
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1350804#Comment_1350804
That's what they originally had intended, but then they started confirming a bunch of characters were heterosexual, so they decided to go all in and confirm LGBT as well. I don't see what the issue is, now that the cat's out of the bag. Let LGBT have representation just like heterosexuals already do.
My point is that they shouldn't have outed ANY of the characters. If they're going to add a gay character I would like them to be organic and not just have the label slapped on them. Idk why they think that they need to out ANYONE because it doesn't matter. I'm all for them adding a character that's gay if it has something to do with the story. Right now what they're doing is pulling a jk Rowling and giving us useless information about existing characters. I really hope that if they add a gay character they don't shove it in our faces. Same with any future straight characters.

Same difference, why are you against pandering now, but not when it was about heterosexuals? Your claims don't match your words. I didn't see any of this outrage when the devs went back on their word about sexualities and confirmed some of the survivors were heterosexual.
Also, they're adding them in the best possible way, which is via extended lore and showing (yes, showing, because they're not "making" anyone anything) that LGBT were here all along and nobody noticed because they're regular people.
I don't know who any of the straight characters other than nurse are... because I don't care. It's pandering to all sides. Sexuality doesn't matter in a game like this. If the nurse was gay it wouldn't change her story, so her sexuality doesn't matter. It's pandering because they're outing characters to please us, not because it'll effect the actual story. Doesn't matter if someone's straight or gay right? Then why make it known? It doesn't matter.

100% agree with the pandering statement. They can add gay and straight characters all they want, I just don't think it matters in MOST lore.

@Orion said:

Why do you have a problem with it now, when they've been confirming heterosexuals since the Nurse?
I don't have a problem with it. They're just pandering. If they said that claudette was gay, what would that change in her lore? Nothing, they'd only be saying it to pander. I would not mind an organic gay or trans character, they're just adding them in the worst possible way. I also just don't think and a character's sexuality matters unless it's actually used as an important part of their story. Including any straight character, so don't even say I have a problem with gay people.
-
I really don't think the dev's have confirmed this but I really hope so.
-
I just think that they're pandering and slapping the lgbt label on random characters. If they're going to add a gay or trans character, let it be important to the story OR don't make it the whole story. It's pretty simple on how to add a good representative character without pandering and the dev's are pandering (at least that's what I see it as) and they're adding lgbt characters in the lamest and most pandering way possible in my opinion. The only way it could be any more pandering is if they add a character whose only lore revolves around gender/ sexuality.
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1350647#Comment_1350647
The thing is, the LGBT characters are already here. It's not like they're going to create a character from the ground up just to add an LGBT character. They've already created LGBT characters and simply didn't confirm it. All they're going to do is confirm it. This is what's written in their tweet, if you take the time to read it.
I think that's even worse. They said that they made all previous characters an open canvas but now they're gonna be slapping the lgbt label on any character they want to even though sexuality has NOTHING to do with their characters. If there's gonna be a gay or trans character I want it organically and for it to be important to their lore without it shoved down our throats every second. Slapping the lgbt label on any character regardless of their lore is completely pandering.
-
Funny how just because you don't enjoy the game, you're trying to convince other people to quit that enjoy the game. Lol.

All the issues could be solved easily if the battlepass didn't have an expiration date, then players wouldn't be incentivized to grind the challenges as quickly as possible, potentially even on characters they would not normally play and thus don't even have good perks on. The developers would make slightly less money in this case though, so obviously that is completely unacceptable.
Yup, all about the money.

You're right, but they took the lisa from silent hill 1. She does look more like origins version tho. It's like they merged them together

I've never seen that! That's so weird to look at lol

No buff, just make her the way she was before. Just change her addons.

Challenges are killing the game. So many players are playing so selfishly and dumb just to do challenges.

It's really cool that you made this concept but jeepers creepers should NEVER be in this game. Guy who made it is a pedo... so no.

I run breakout occasionally. Honestly breakout is one of my favorite perks because it's so much fun.

Plague is a bad killer. Everytime I say this I get attacked. I feel like her power is only good when she has corrupt purge which is only half of her power. Vile purge is just terrible imo. Also I think thatI unbreakable is terribly overrated.
Idk how controversial this is but based on 3 teachable perks meg is by far the best survivor.

Exactly, I love lisa and I think she looks great... she just doesn't really look like lisa besides the clothes.

I use it. I only play solo queue because none of my friends play. I can't rely on my teammates and I don't know where they are most of the time. If they have sloppy then I find someone but if they don't...I use self care. It's not a terrible perk. It's only bad in the wrong hands. Like people who use level 1 self care the whole match. I mainly use it for the medkit benefits, I usually bring medkits.
-
That's why every time a die against a nurse who didn't play really dirty I message them and praise them. I almost never die to nurse so when I do I praise the nurse.
-
Should be permanent, the levels of the perk should be
1. Blood trails clear up 50% faster
2. Blood tails clear up 75% faster
3. You leave no blood trails
It should only effect survivors in the injured state.
-
Oh no...I hope this is a troll post. If not then this is horrendous lmao.

What do you mean? I've been assured repeatedly how easy survivor is.
Survivor solo queue is not good like swf is. Survivor is pretty easy if you have good teammates, but if you get bad teammates, it's terrible.

Solo queue is literally torture. Last match I had a dc, suicide on second hook and someone leave through hatch with a key without me and they weren't being chased. You get the worst possible teammates in solo queue.

Claudette- she would be like a "medic"
