No hate but, friend, we have GOT to get you some Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Fatal Frame! Horror film classics are one thing because you watched them but Horror game classics are another because you experience them.

PYRAMID HEAD, MOTHER FATHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRS!!!! Hear that? Every Survivor on Switch just collectively shuddered. Oh, wait, THAT WAS EVERY SURVIVOR EVERYWHERE BECAUSE CROSSPLAY, MOTHER FATHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRS!!!! Catch ya in the fog! ;3

I also only use nod, shake, crouch spam/ spinning to show I'm not gonna sacrifice, it's just a farming match. I also attack chests or loud surfaces to get their attention.

Doesn't it hard counter Ghostface?
I guess something about my playstyle just makes it moot? I swear, I've never done a moonwalk in this game once, just sneak around and every match I have at least poked everyone once. I've never had a match where anyone successfully hid from me.

Click bait. Just kidding. (Ignore the weird ranks, it was a 4-man SWF)
Seriously, though, it got to the point that I was moonwalking from one gen to another because I could tell they all had it after a few episodes of seeing everyone scatter off a gen when I was standing far away in a corn field. 🤣
Do people really like it that much? Been seeing it more and more lately.
LMFAO You got me good with that bait title! Seriously though, don't even have to moonwalk, my Ghost Face wrecks Scardy Cat perk. I dunno why it's so popular.

Hello
Would you consider putting a trap under a hooked survivor camping? Would you also consider putting a trap near a survivor camping ? Do you think it's fair?
I just saw a video which talks about what your killer main says about you. He said: "If you main trapper your probably a camper. You probably but traps on the survivor that you hook. That's who you are."
First i though isn't that the points of traps but then i got to start a bit thinking. Is butting traps near a survivor camping? Is what I been doing the hole time that thing I try not to do and don't want to do (i couldn't even do it to boring for me) . (I don't place them underneath a hook. I place them near the hook in tall grass were its well hidden, some were on the side. Most of the times a way from or to the hook.)
Since before i started playing I watched tip and tricks videos were it was most of a time a tip to but a trap there. I've seen play on YouTube done the same. So i thought it was just a good strategy.
Don't fall into the trap of letting douchebags dictate how you enjoy your game, friend. You're using a game mechanic fairly as was intended and if they fall for it then maybe they should be more careful and not be sore losers. For ######### sake, you're playing a trap killer, if they can't rub a couple of brain cells together to suspect rushing in might be a stupid idea that's on them. Have fun and good hunting, friend

I hear both the 4K killers and the long match survivors and I think there are valid points on both sides. Just to be clear, I'm a 1,000% dedicated Killer. Ghost Face, Pig and Legion mains with Nurse, Spirit and whoever the newbie is gonna be on back up. I've touched survivor twice. When I first got the game, got slaughtered and said NOPE and again just yesterday when a new Switch friend, who added me after enjoying my playstyle in a previous match, invited me. Unbeknownst to myself, you can ONLY invite people to be fellow survivors(PSST, Bhaviour, might wanna tweak that) so I was forced, among a team of level I dunno what pros at ranks 8 to 5, TO PLAY AS A LEVEL 1 BILL, NO ITEMS, NO PERKS, NO ADD ONS, ETC. LAUGH. MY. #########. ASS. OFF. Let me tell you, fellow citizens of The Fog... I was certainly dead before daylight. HAHAHA That all being said... I personally like getting immersed and just running around, screwing with survivors. My regular games used to be kill ASAP now, I mind game around pallets, chase for miles without a single attack before breaking off and then popping out from behind another corner and hitting them or I catch glimpse of another and randomly switch targets to the new survivor, I smash pallets, kick every damn generator I see to prolong it as much as possible and I let them heal because it keeps them in place, groups them and let's me drag it on. I never stop hook rescues, though I do "soft camp"(peer from behind cover at a distance that doesn't subtract from Chase and then stalk the rescuer) Dudes, let me tell you, the mind ######### ery that goes on when you play me is hilarious. I'm laughing probably 95% of the time during gameplay.
Anyway, everyone has what they go for. My threads aren't for or against any position, mostly just wanted to see what the community thinks of my playstyle. So, anyone got any funny stories to share during matches?

Well, the problem is that anyone above green ranks can make the game go pretty quickly.
That being said, I do prefer a drawn-out game.

LMFAO HOLY ######### THANK YOU FOR THIS HAHAHA I LOVE this meme and this has got to be one of the best iterations I've ever seen of it! 🤣

LMFAO HOLY ######### I was not prepared for this hilarity
Where do I sign the petition?

It's gonna be the creature in the closet and it's gonna eat all the survivors socks and favorite toys.

I've been considering all hex builds(I like challenging myself with dedicated theme builds) and this thread seems like an awesome place to start! Much thanks to everyone posting!
-
Being a Switch player who came late to the game I have no idea what old hatch was like. I'm dedicated Killer and I have no complaints for how it works now, as I have always known it. Just my 2 cents.
-
Damn you, wascally wabbit! I'll get you someday! *fist shakey*
Edit: I don't care about it one way or the other. I kinda like it, TBH, it gives me a fun rushed game of tag at the end.

None in particular that I would wanna see less of but more Jane is always nice to see.

It's hontlestly the survivors fault 9 out of 10 times if I'm tunneling. If you're hooked, get unhooked and are dumb enough to stay right there or just turn one corner and start healing or just be really ######### at hiding that's your own fault buddy. See, the git gud logic runs both ways; If you're consistently bad at being elusive you're gonna consistently scream from the end of a meat hook but, on the bright side, you'll have plenty of time to reconsider your playing strategies.

Followed immediately by May-hem wherein I use all the add ons I've hoarded all March to brutally rack up kills. >:3

It's a psychological effect I guess. I'm not a psychologist but as a person that had passed through that I can try to elaborate:
As a killer you get treated badly a couple times in a row and in order to adapt you counter toxicity with toxicity. Yes, I know, it's stupid because in the next game there will be new players (in this game in particular is very common to find at least one toxic survivor in every match tho). But, and this is a big BUT, this is an emotional response not a logical response. The part of your brain you use for math is not involved in all of this, so trying to get a logical reason to the emotional response and expect that it makes sense is not the best idea. It won't make sense if you don't start from the correct first fact, emotions are the root cause. If we were robots without emotions we will not have problems with toxicity.
The thing is you will build up some bad emotions while playing killer:
You will be bullied, undermined, disrespected and annoyed pretty easy if you are not prepared. Also you are alone in all that emotions, you can't blame others of your lost match, you are the entire killer team. You are forced to run through the entire game too, if it could exist a surrender button to quickly move on from in-game toxicity this will not happen as much, because you can deny something from the people that is hurting you. But here, you can't.
All of this builds up one game after another and if you don't stop, eventually it will explode. The overflow of all of that will explode on you and other 4 unlucky players that will suffer from a game that has no win condition for the killer besides ruining your experience. The killer won't be alone suffering because now other 4 will understand how toxicity feels.
It's simple, you get bad emotions and you explode with some group sooner or later. This can happen mid game or in the lobby, but it usually happen in game. You encounter someone, you read some survivor behaviour as a hint of toxicity and at that moment something in your mind says "sorry bud but we up here have no more stress to let you endure through this another time, we will tag with your other brain..." and all the rest is rage and blind revenge.
Somethings to have into account that I have seen "reasoned" and don't make any sense:
It's just a character spamming crouching
To anyone with a bit of knowledge about videogames crouching have been the main tool to disrespect your oponent, very popular in fighting games where some players want to have a psychological fight too. It's an offense because has the purpose of offend and everyone know the meaning. Even if people wouldn't know the meaning the first time, they would learn what it means as babies do, with context.
If you try to offend someone, expect at some point a defensive response. The emotional intelligence require to hold emotions back and learn to ignore people opinions is not a given. You have to improve on that. Is not part of any free educational program I have heard.
You don't get anything out of playing like that
Yes you do get something. You get multiple things, first you vent like a steam engine. All out, like vomit (it could take multiple times). You also get support from others, either by supporting the idea that toxicity is awful or by directly empathizing with your situation because there are people out there that understand what a lot of killers have to pass through.
Just ignore [X] by [Y]
This is just useless. To ignore something on purpose first you have to don't ignore it to recognise what you have to ignore. Also isolate from post game chat besides I can understand to close it, I think it hides people out there that will dedicate some kind words after match. Social support is important.
Take a break
This one phrase is funny. A lot of people use videogames as their "take a break" method. When your "take a break" method needs a "take a break" it's not that easy. Your mind will think that it's just a game and you need a "take a break" match. So you will enter qeue for another round. Sometimes this strategy works and that makes an skinner box effect that encourages you to always qeue after a bad match because you could get a good one.
Now some tips if anyone out there suffers from this:
- I present you MEME GAMES.
The idea is broke all the imposed game rules and use a match as a sandbox you will have near zero toxicity because anyone wanting to say "gg ez" can't even remotely believe you were even trying. You can do a lot of fun stuff without stressing out about objectives. Try it out.
The limit is your imagination, you can pick any killer and do funny things with them: dance, arcade games, role playing... whatever you want.
The best part is everyone will enjoy the game because no one lose and that will reflect in post game chat where you will find some kind words, people laughing at the joke you did in form of meme game and if you explain what you have passed, they will support you. Because Dbd players are good people when they are not try harding. This will remember your emotional side that not every one in this player base want to start personal attack wars every second.
- I recommend switching sides too. You will find a tilted killer, guaranteed. Play the game normal and tell him something kind, you will feel good about this and maybe you will get some kind words back.
- Come to read the forums, there are a lot of people complaining. You are not alone, this game makes people crazy if played alone (even with friends can be dangerous to your mood).
I have found that playing bar tender in the new map is hilarious and fun.
-
That is an interesting theory. It would totally make sense for The Entity to use familiarity of home to inspire more hope and determination within the survivors for it to feed on. Especially if those outfits came with other sensory triggers like scents and echos of familiar things and places.

Spine Chill.
Spine Chill has saved my bottom more times than I can count. It has helped me easily counter killers like Spirit, Nurse and Freddy and it has helped me make crucial decisions in game that usually eventually leads to my team winning the match.
As someone who is not deluded and realizes the only way to get better is to be challenged, I sincerely thank you for keeping my sneak skills top notch, friend. I LOVE being tested against Spine Chill survivors! (And no, I don't do whatever that dumb moonwalking thing is to avoid it or whatever, that strategy always seemed dumb to me. If you're good at sneaking, you're good at sneaking and Spine Chill will test that.
As a GhostFace main with Pig on backup, Whispers is absolutely my fav. Really adds to the atmosphere and spookiness. :3

Nah. And especially with DS running rampant. Nah. And all the damn flashlights blinding during carry. Nah. And even with iron grasp I still deal with escapes. NAH.

Thanks for the info! Damn, I guess I missed it in the Switch shrine, hopefully it cycles back soon!

Reading through the thread to this point I am really intrigued and excited by some of the ideas! Space horror is always neat, the shark idea (deep water, being eaten alive are horrifying) sounds awesome and the unicorn theme sounds hilarious. Especially if they did it without warning and it just lasted a month.

I personally don't mind, I do appreciate killers who will have a joke and even show you to gens (these seem to be mainly ghost faces for some strange reason) but it isn't always the killers fault so I really don't mind how they play as long as they don't face camp hooks
As a GF main I can confirm that if a teammate gets salty and abandons I'll just follow people around, getting chase and stalk points, help them find treasure chests, play hide and seek, tag, etc and just let them go. No, I dunno why we do it either.

I'd guess you were getting lagged out of the tower, Item tech is a deliberate action done by survivors to teleport back to a ledge.
Okay, thanks. I was starting to wonder if glitches were coming in that map, I don't get sent there often.

But in dbd people get so triggred when the lose I've had killers and survivor's message me post game insulting me but in other games i rarely get messages unless its a gg
Why?
Some people take it seriously to an extreme. (Playing on Switch) I always leave feedback on how much fun I had and thumbs up players almost always, only report for DCs and excessive trolling.

That's the Item tech exploit.
What exactly is the issue there? I ask because in a recent match(On Switch as GhostFace) It was end game and as I awaited the final survivor to be swept away by The Entity, I rushed upstairs in the tower to get in some last second points by kicking the generator running BUT, as I cleared the top of the stairwell I suddenly "blinked" down onto the grounds below OUTSIDE the tower. I was astonished, to say the least. This happen often?
-
I hear you, fellow DbD player from the other side(Strictly Killer player here) and I will vow right now: No moris OR sacrifices for all next month. I'll just injure and hook once each and let them go. Collect my chase, destruction and damage points and call it a time. I can't promise there won't be some teams who let their pals bleed out but I will observe Merciful May, in honor of your IRL sacrifices. F ●7
-
This is a really neat and innovative idea! Would definitely be awesome to see in DBD2!
-
When I hear about all this toxicity through chat and DMs I am always so grateful to be on Switch, where no one bothers me because they don't have my friend code. :3
Also, it's HILARIOUS to watch them 360, realize you just sat there watching them and then(As GF) do a 360 of your own. LOL
-
Sorry to hear that, fellow slasher. Hopefully they'll fine tune matchmaking but in the meantime I'd focus on just learning the ins and outs of your specific killers mechanics and basic stuff of the game(learning how much distance to leave so pallets don't bonk you, get a feel for your cooldown, vaulting and breaking speeds. Learning your lunge and basic hit boxes, learning angles to avoid flashlight glare, etc.) Happy hunting!
-
Yeah, I gotta say the traps feel pretty weak. Either make them activate on first action survivor takes OR reduce timer slightly and remove the killer proximity freeze on them.
I hate to brag but I have no complaints with the death lunge. I rock that ######### and it's HILARIOUS to see people in the middle of something or sneaking around and then freak out when they hear the snorting snarl and do this weird circle dance because they're trying to escape while figuring out where I'm coming from at the same time. I probably hit with 98% of those. :3

I thought so. I couldn't remember because I haven't played her in so long. That should be addressed or fixed but I don't think anyone mentions it because she's not Killer you meet often. She's as rare as the Plague these days.
Thanks, friend. That just makes me feel even prouder that she's my number 2 killer. :3
Gonna chime in with that post somewhere above that, yeah, RS2... I don't get it and even go so far as to avoid it in the blood web.
-
Both of these. Flashing, T-bagging is just begging to be tunneled and, with GF and Pig as my mains, I will bag you right back while I camp you on hook in between slashes. Karma, buddy.
-
Sorry to hear that, Dude. If it's any consolation, I try to play as an agent of karma and if I see anyone dick over their team I tunnel the ######### out of them and let the rest go. Best of luck in future trials!

I might be thinking about this the wrong way but what I always thought they implied was that Trapper outright killed Jake with that swing.
Wait, does that mean, in the very opening of the game itself, Trapper is using the "pile them all up in a dying state and then start hooking" method? LMFAO

@Spooky13 said:
It might just be prayer to the Entity. If the killers know what the Void is then it makes even more sense. It's basically saying "Hear me, protect me, I'm still useful, don't throw me into the Void, I'll still kill for you and feed you."
@Rattman said:
What about white ward? Why would survs pray to Entity? And why being in the Void would be worse than in trials?
I'm gonna agree with top post and to address lower one: If they are aware something is keeping them there and not inclined to let them go begging for whatever mercy it may grant is really all they can do. Whispers mentions that survivors are aware of the fog(Entity) having intentions of it's own BUT not always favoring the killers. This comes with two speculations. First, Survivors in question still have plenty of fight left in them and may be trying to bargain with Entity that they still have hope and fear for it to slowly feed off(while they attempt to escape the realm) and second, they have enough of whatever drives them that they still fear becoming hollowed shells and being sent to The Void. I see it as just begging for mercy.
-
I'm inclined to go with devs said one of each BUT there is also the fact multiples of survivors exist in the same trial. Multiverse theory is in effect to some degree, whether it's Entity pulling in infinite versions, each wearing different stuff, one of each character given the ability to change appearance based on memories or just different appearances plucked from alternate versions of themselves, I dunno. I'm just gonna go the easy route and say MAGIC.
-
Another good candidate for future crossover inclusion. A mall map would be really awesome I dunno what his killer would be though.

Im a huge scream fan, watched the movies countless times. And i was wondering, Is he like the Ghostface in the movies or someone just wearing the oufit? What does he do? Does he have cool cosmetics? Does he have the movie oufit? Is he fun to play? And is he relatively decent/good? Thanks!
Hey, fellow Scream enthusiast! GhostFace is absolutely worth it! Some really great cosmetics, excellent and fun mechanics and a decent lore for this iteration.
Dead By Daylight does the GhostFace legacy right by making it(as has ALWAYS been the case because GhostFace is a concept NOT an individual) a brand new killer behind the old familiar mask. What they get VERY WRONG however, is that they failed to provide our favorite slasher with a map(No stomping grounds for a killer based on stalking and familiarity? LAME) OR a specific survivor that they are obsessed with(I am of the opinion no one at this development company has ever seen a Scream film) So, there are huge pros and cons to the concept applied here but ultimately Ghosty was my sole reason for even buying a Switch let alone this game and I am not disappointed. Almost prestige 2 with him and it has been a blast and even rotate between Pig and Legion too. Very fun triad. Happy hunting!

Jane × GhostFace. Fight me.
-
Suzie, hands down.
-
As a killer I have never come across firecrackers and that sounds hilarious and awesome. I would love to see those someday.
-
Insidious is absolutely fine as it is. Any other buffing to it would just feel unfair to those poor survivors. LOL I dunno how the majority of other killers use it to have voted it useless but it is awesome.
