Then why is it when a exploit is discovered, the survivor or killer immediately uses it at full force? Also tell me if it isn't competitive, why are there so many cheaters?

I'd love to hear your counter-arguments. I'm expecting no answers.

people cheat in all games, competitive/casual, real/virtual

People cheated in f-ing Friday the 13th. And the exploits…. By god the exploits. Roof exploits, invincibility exploits, healing cancels, out of bounds exploits, god spots. Etc etc.

  • you missed when anti camp was first introduced.

It was originally going to be larger, and is basically broke all indoor/two story maps for killer and made pressuring hooks impossible.

So because of that and feedback they shrunk the zone down to what it is currently.

  • I thought reverse tunneling was survivors tunneling themselves with sloppy play? for example sadako when they just hold w into your tvs and eat condemned.

Well the more you I guess.

  • 10-40 secs stun that can be used aggressively just for daring to pick a killer with mobility?

    Yeah no thanks

Even if this only applied to nurse that’s still far too harsh, 10 seconds is a god damn eternity.

  • First obvious one, you can try cranking your sensitivity but that’s a low blow.

Something I like to do is you can almost ‘pre-aim’ the redirect beforehand. When you’re mid transition when it fades to black snug isn’t paused he’s being controlled the second you press redirect. So you can try and get a feel for how far you need to flick while the screen is still dark and either launch him immediately or wait that half second just to check manually.

Sorry if this isn’t what you’re looking for, but it’s really an experience and feeling kinda thing.

  • outlast, dying light, the evil within are probably my top 3 for lesser popular IPs

I would argue the Oni should be removed like there should be no plausible scenario where Oni is allowed in 2v8 and none of these other characters would be allowed it just doesn't make sense. I'd much rather play as The First than the Oni simply because you'd get better case use out of The First and 2v8 would actually make him fun to play whereas with Oni I'm just getting stupid cheaters with an instant down character, hell even the Onryo would be better, sure she can teleport to TV but she still can't one hit down, Ghost Face is fine because he can't run faster than survivors even with sprint burst in 2v8 like the Oni can.

Oni is fine now, he can barely down 3 people without losing power. And if survivors are good with their sprint bursts and aren’t greedy with pallets, he barely has enough juice for 2 competent survivors.

You won’t be seeing team wipes with one power use anymore unless your team makes a seriously bad blunder.

  • @DemonicDemons said:

Now that Wesker and Legion have both been disabled, lets try adding Onryo and another character like the Plague or Doctor would be nice, it'd be cool to see the Knight have a shot at 2v8, I feel like Xenomorph and the Lich would also be suitable replacements or additions, The First would also be fun to play in 2v8, I feel like there's a lot of unused potential in character variety in this game, in my games survivors almost always escape with like 6 people when I'm killer anyways so why not just flood the gates with killers people want to use instead of the same ones we already have, plus we keep getting characters disabled it'd be nice to have some fall back plan or am I just stupid? In 2v8 with these other killers mentioned we could actually get a lot of value out of our killers we otherwise wouldn't be able to get, imagine running the first in 2v8, it would glorious yet here we are with the same character list as every other 2v8 basically minus two kill switched characters, idk, the mode is already boring to me, the cheaters don't help the situation.

as much as I would love the play vecna and vecna^2 in 2v8 it’s probably not gonna happen unfortunately.

Vecna^2 fails on 2 accounts of Bhvrs established killer criteria. First survivors don’t like playing against him but that’s a low blow. And second the actual reason, worldbreaker.

Similar to Freddys dream world and dredges nightfall, worldbreaker would keep him from being added.

Plus there’s the always the issue of licensing getting in the way.

I don’t know how survivors don’t find her fun, it’s literally the same counterplay as wesker except it’s more exploitable with pallets and corners

  • apparently they had an engine update in the background.

But yeah I agree it’s silly the update is so big when very little of substance was actually added.

  • I would love houndmaster for 2v8.

Fun to play, fun to play against (has similar counterplay to Wesker and we all know how much survivors glaze him), and like you said would be a great teammate.

Unfortunately houndmaster is so incredibly buggy as is putting her in 2v8 might just cause a black hole, in addition to that because of bhvr’s killer criteria for 2v8 she’s unlikely to be added to 2v8 anytime soon because she isn’t very popular.

The skins definitely look really cool, not one that I dislike.

Although the lack of Taurie in it pushed my excitement close to 0. Simply because I don't play none of the characters getting skins in the new rift.

Still, good for those who will get new stuff.

taurie/orela plague doctor could’ve gone so hard

DBD is also unlike most PVP games as well where despite being balanced toward competition, it hinges completely on luck. No matter how much experience you have, you will always be at the mercy of things like matchmaking, powers/perks, and unchecked catchup mechanics. People get burned out, rightfully so.

i completely agree, it’s a shame bhvr haven’t nailed the non-rng maps yet.

I feel Like the closest we’ve gotten is trickster delusion, my personal favorite, but even I can admit it feels very disgusting once you learn it as survivor.
I also like rpd but we all know that map had/has a ton of issues, the 3 gen in the middle, unbalanced variants, weird hook spawns yadada

  • @UnicornMedal said:

When you balance the game entirely in favor of one role, it's no surprise when the other role finds more and more reasons to quit. I say it constantly yet it always bears repeating—despite years of making Killer more and more accessible and footing the bill to Survivor, to the point where Killer has less macro responsibility without a lack of power, Killer players are still unhappy with the state of the game. Maybe if we scale A LOT of these unhealthy changes back, we might see less Survivors giving up. But we all know that isn't going to happen, so at the very least we should at least acknowledge what's really going on instead of getting tangled up in our egos (which also isn't going to happen 😵).

I don’t know where this comes from that the balance is at all favored at killers.

Slowdown perks are the weakest they’ve been in years.

Many top tiers are getting/have been nerfed Ex. Blight (next patch), krasue, ghoul, spirit, nurse (she’s her on a technicality going from SSS to S doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme)
with a couple exceptions of killers either getting side grades or left to simmer a bit Ex. Drac (his power getting shifted between his 3 forms multiple times a year) vecna 2 (I’m kinda surprised he hasn’t been nerfed yet honestly)

skull merchant was killed off for over a year at the demand of survivors (some think she should get deleted and axed from the game entirely). Houndmaster is still bugged as hell and still nothing on knotted rope, twins is twins, they tried to gut knight and alien. Chucky lost scamper(only for bhvr to make then nerf krasue and ghoul seriously bhvr what did you think would happen) and now is only viable on pc where 180 flicks are doable

and then we switch roles, healing speeds have only gotten faster with more healing options than ever (soon to be dialed back with diminishing returns). Anti-tunnel is as strong as ever with new babysitter and basekit bt being buffed. Anti slug is better than ever (barring old ftp/buckle up) with conviction/wglf/plot twist/unbreakable. Gen speeds are outta control with hyper focus/stake out, fast track, BnP’s. Exhaustion perks are as free as ever with buffed vigil, chases are easier with more pallets and power crept window being added. And on and on and on.

anything the killer role has gotten to be strong has either been mutually beneficial for everyone or are exceptions not the rule. I mean we’ve proven god can bleed with the blight nerfs, so now anything is on the table for killers in the nerf department.

And you know what I’ll even side with survivors here, if nerfing blight/nurse/ghoul into the ground gets us balanced and strong perks, and buffs to B- below killers, I’ll take it as this point.

Definitely. I don't actually think it is an over-exaggeration though. The hate gets very extreme and very bizarre, to the point where I've seen people threaten their own safety or the safety of others. There's tilt, but this feels a little more unwell. It's why I say that profiting off of that feels really gross.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4073973#Comment_4073973

This really belies the even greater issue. DBD is not well designed nor well balanced if you have to take a crash course in how to play by watching streamers with abrasive content just to hopefully stand a chance (realistically, it sounds more like they're ranting and saying what should happen rather than trying to educate but that's just my opinion). It's undeniable that the game is frustrating, unfair, and relies way too strongly on elements completely out of one's control while also going to great lengths to punish players for making any mistakes or having a bad time.

BHVR absolutely should try to address pain points if they notice that people keep underperforming and not having fun. I don't see how that's unreasonable as you seem to suggest.

I think it’s the issue of age as well.
not only is dbd is complex it’s old, and the content isn’t slowing down, so the barrier to entry is just going to keep getting higher and higher.

A bit of a personal anecdote but I got into league a couple years ago and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought with how old the game was and the amount of characters and items but with the help of a couple of friends a couple of YouTube videos, and just reading the in-game information I felt ok and not too too overwhelmed.

dbd even with those first two things is still missing crucial onboarding and a severe information deficit when it comes to killer powers and perks. Even if dbd had the specific killer information, with descriptions and videos all on one page, i dont think it’d be enough, the game is such a trial by fire kinda thing where experience rules.

I seriously don’t envy anyone new getting into the game at this point in time, but i say start now because it’s only gonna get harder. I mean how should we expect new players to learn the game overnight when even some 10 year veterans don’t even know or wanna know what certain things do/mean.

  • @scorpio said:

Survivor is the least fun it's been in awhile imo. It's such a drag, I don't even want to play the game anymore. No one does gens, no one knows how to face any of the killers, way too many people wasting time doing boons instead of gens. It's the worst. I have played 3 games today and I am probably done with DBD until the next time 2v8 is back, it is that unfun to play in solo queue. Idc how many good perks there are, you can only take 4 and you have to rely on your braindead team to be useful which they never are. No one knows how to play the game anymore and it isn't even their fault because there are no tutorials for anything useful!

I think is the point a lot of the content creators are trying to point out.

They’re trying to call attention to ignorance and educate players who just dc first learn never. Or even worse they play badly due to lack of knowledge and get hatch or carried by their actual good teammates and somehow make it out.

I think more people (especially survivors) should look past these thumbnails and angry twitter/reddit comments and just sit back and learn. Because as of right now the thing running this game into the ground isn’t ‘sweating bully squads’ or ‘toxic killers’ it’s those shirtless/bikini wearing survivors who dc the minute, no second, something goes slightly wrong instead of adapting, complain, then come back the next update to drop 20$ and rinse repeat.

  • if you watch most of these videos all it is people who fed up with the current state of the game and voicing their collective frustration (at survivors) and trying to educate them on how to get better so they can stop blaming ‘toxic killers’ for their problems.

if you don’t see the issues you’re either in a 3-4 man swf, a killer player, or a new player who doesn’t know bad plays when they seem them.

Please I encourage any doubters, go play solo-duo queue and watch how many game you lose because your teammate survivors heal under hook, farm hooks, loop in disadvantages areas, die too fast due to lack of knowledge, or dc/go next immediately. These people are the reason half the killer roster have such bad reps, because instead of learning they b***h and moan or dc until mommy and daddy bhvr fix the ‘problem’.

I don’t see a problem with ‘survivor bashing’ content, maybe it’ll get some of the worst offenders to educate themselves but what do I know, they probably saw the thumbnail left an angry ‘killer mains bad’ comment then went back to throwing games and complaining on twitter.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

I would agree, Blighted Crow and Rat should be looked at. But they should wait to see what the Token Reduction on Pallet Break will do first before potentially overnerfing Blight.

(The movement speed reduction will not do much, since it will only affect bad Blight players)

yeah I wouldn’t be happy with them over nerfing him either as I actually main a killer on the receiving end of such treatment (Skull merchant)

I just think at least for killer they need to balancing from the top down because like you said this’ll only affect bad blights.

I feel like bhvr is stuck in this cycle where they only ever apply changes for one niche area of players, and not looking at the big picture. Bad killers stay bad and get worse via power creep and people getting better and the good killers stay good after nerfs because the only people still playing them are the ones who the nerfs don’t affect.

  • BHVR don’t want a competitive game or a casual game, they want the tourists who come for the events and chapter releases drops 20 bucks they quit until the shirtless or bikini skin comes out.

This is clear from their refusal to implement long term changes that we’ve been asking for, or fix issues plaguing the game for years, because in their metrics those issues don’t actually affect their target audience that much.

Like actually worthwhile prestige rewards are nice and all and what’s the point in bhvr’s eyes when the people they’re making the game for won’t even get a p100 for years even with the lucrative amounts of BP we’ve been getting.

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

What is the point in using fake pallets if survivors know they are fake?

free zoning if you make liberal use of the pallet rupture, you also lose almost no distance when doing so.

  • We need more killers in order for 2v8 to go permanent, there’s too few killers so the game struggles to match the overwhelming majority of wesker/billy/oni players with another different killer teammate, gets even worse if you factor in solo vs duo queue killers.

Edit: but considering bhvr’s 2v8 killer criteria it looks like it’s just going to continue get even staler with longer queues. For this next 2v8 it might be the least motivated I’ve been to try it, with no changes, survivors being at their strongest with 20 sec sprint burst and tonics, both me and my duo are not even sure we’ll log on for this one. Plus the killers we like/main are either buns in 2v8 or simply won’t see the light of day as we like niche killers.

I was playing with finesse for a while and felt like it was really picky about activating. There were a few times where I was running straight on at the vault and didn't get it to activate, which felt really weird.

I only played a handful of games before switching builds to something else, but I think I was averaging maybe one activation per match. Which seems really off, especially since I was trying to force it after a while.

yes! Finesse especially! I was running a finesse, smash hit, five moves ahead build because I wanted to see how strong the fast drop would be for like a solid week, that’s when I noticed the weirdness.

While I’m currently no longer running finesse atm fast vaults feel super inconsistent, like I’m fine with it if they decided to nerf the angle and detection for fast vaults but at least tell us about it don’t just shadow nerf if. But it could also very likely just be a bug, which would be nothing new with BHVR

we gonna be rolling in bp after all these issues are fixed.

rolling in the 500k wow so much BP.

Minimum should be 2 mil, these outages last a couple hours on average, you could easily make 2 mil in a few hours, but no all we get is 750k followed by more outages

  • as an aside, most of the leavers were usually comp style ace’s/nea’s/claudettes.

and the adept angle I could buy, but his perks arent even that bad, another healing perk, a mid at best obsession perk, and 5 steps ahead is just power crept windows, idk maybe to me it seems a little goofy to dodge on the off chance someone is going for an adept, like survivor is plenty strong at the moment you don’t need 16 top tier meta perks in your random pub lobbies when solo-duo queueing.
    that’s just my read.

  • probably a dumb comparison and one I may get some flack for.

But I think legion is ok in 2v8 because we already have ghostface and now 4 zombie nemi let me explain.

With ghosty you can mark half the team, effectively putting the survivors in a similar situation with the other killer and leads to easy downs. Plus ghosty has stealth and with chaos of 2v8 you get a lot of grabs/free hits.

And 4 zombie nemi slows down the game so much if no one is running torch bearer, additionally they provide crazy amounts of info on a similar degree to legion on comms. And now that there’s so many, nemi can murk his zombies way more often to tier up which is what was keeping him mid in other 2v8s; you lost the game by the time you got tier 3 and he’s was effectively nerfed by wesker.

On comms and depending on my randoms skill level I’ve been absolutely rolling with new nemi and ghosty, and the games haven’t been close. Unlike with legion where 1-3 good survivors who camp pallets can absolutely stone wall you and you’re left with no stealth or movement or anti-loop.

So I’d rather legion be in 2v8 than not at all because you already have crazy strong supp killer options. they could gut his kit, but legion should absolutely come back, because when more killers drop with crazy buffed up kits I’m sure we’ll find new combos to run that are more fun or stronger than legions + oni/any high mobility killer. Me personally Im waiting for Double vecna and houndmaster + wolf only drac.

  • @OrangeBear said:

Apparently someone on reddit asked support about this at one point and the response they got was that the entity doesn't need to give it to killers anymore. So vecna dnd will probably be the one and only.

I say good riddance because imo i think it takes too much away from their design.

Freddy is one killer that could have had it as indicated by his bio but im glad he doesn't

bit of a shame, I found it cool that entity is smart enough to recognize the strength of the killers it takes and attempts to weaken them to keep them in line.

I probably agree with you. But next time making a post like this, please just post a summary of your ideas like this in the end so you can fast read and get a quick understanding:

    1.

    2.

    3.

I’d do that but I’m already breaking up my thoughts into separate chunks to be more digestible, shortening my thoughts further into a numbered list would just leave out context.

In my experience leaving out context leads to people assuming and leaves room for people to take things in bad taste. I’d rather put everything out there leaving nothing up to interpretation.

I appreciate the feedback though, I will try and be more concise in the future. :)

  • I’d be fine with 5 seconds but let enduring affect it again.

Would you say dbd is playable (and winnable)? Is one role trickier than the other? I wouldn't mind it for just story-based games, if it's reliable. I've also heard some iffy think about the longevity of the joysticks.

Mostly, I can't decide if I should pull the trigger on it or wait for the rumored portable option that may come out for PS6. The Steamdeck is just too expensive.

yeah it’s absolutely playable and winnable on both sides, survivor more than killer.

You’ll most lost likely have a tougher time especially on killer.

The joy sticks are your standard 20 year old tech so yeah stick drift will be issue if you play consistently. But in my opinion it’s the smaller sticks that get me. The Portal sticks are about 10-15% smaller than a regular ps5 controller leading to some moments when you flick your stick your finger can slip off.

If you’re on the go, and have a lot of story games to play or slower games (stardew is my personal choice for the portal) then yeah go ahead. But expect lower than average performance for multiplayer games. If you want you can wait a little longer to see if those rumors are true, but if you really can’t wait I’m sure you’ll make good use of it, just make sure to also get a screen protector, they don’t come with one but you can buy a pack on Amazon from anywhere from 10-40$

  • it really depends on internet speed to be able to properly connect and run but that’s probably the least noticeable thing when playing.

Especially in demanding games there’s a very slight input delay on most everything, so when it comes to dbd skill checks you gotta press super early in order to hit greats, and fine movement can be tricky.

But id really only recommend the portal if you travel a lot and you known you’re gonna be in a place with good wifi. Most hotel WiFis that I’ve tried haven’t worked with the portal unfortunately so take this with a grain of salt. Until the portal sees more optimization, I can’t justify the purchase in my opinion.

If they needed to attract players to the killer role, they would ask that.

if they want more people to play to survivor they have 2v8 out more than 3 times a year and actually add new classes to survivor.

Not remove a killer to please people who are gonna dc and still continue to complain anyway.

I guarantee if they had stats to back it up, we’d see them removing legion did nothing to bring more players in on the survivor side.

If BHVR wants more survivors on 2v8 they need more classes, and better incentives to play, more killers and maps would help retention on both sides too. They shouldn’t be releasing surveys fishing for what killer to remove next.

Elevation is dam strong in DBD, vecna for 2v8 would be great but they would need to adjust his powers and cooldowns very cerefully because he would brought his items that help survivors to counter him which is something devs kida srew up with nemesis and wesker as duo where you get 3 sprays and they cure both the t-virus and uroboros which is busted normaly you get 1 vaccine for each survivor on nemesis and 2 sprays on wesker for each survivor but giving survivors 3 sprays for each survivor and making them cure both thats something devs kinda dont get because they dont play their game that much and things like these they miss every time so I fear if they will add vecna to 2v8 he will suck and wont be that great because of his powers not being buffed as they should be compare to counterplay his magical items will offer to all survivors.

Same goes for killers that are strong in chase but lack the marco and are hard (harder than huntress) which are now killers like deadslinger and pyramidhead get into they just depend so much on their teammate and to all of that they must play perfect and hit almost every shot to not suck which is why even nemesis is probably beter if he doesnt get paired with some weaker killer like slinger or trapper that are slow or especialy wesker which makes getting cured from t-virus so easy for all survivors and thats why he sucks there too.

yeah I agree, something I think people might overlook would be the killer items.

Hot take but I actually don’t think buffing his cooldowns would be the way to go for 2v8, I think they’re mostly fine rn, for me personally I’d like just a couple add ons base kit, the extra skelly, longer fly, better fly attack cooldown, I feel like reducing his spell cooldowns in a slippery slope, nothing lower than 15s

But going back to the items, bhvr would have to spawn so many chests for everyone to be able to get magical items, I can imagine the strain That would put on the game.
while I would love him to get added to 2v8 I’d say we’re a year away at the soonest.

Saddly its not only larrys he cant hit you when there is even the small elevation thats larrys bug, some floors are just little higher than the one you shoot from and this makes his power not work but simular bs is on swamp maps and mostly on other structures or stairs and hills he just cant hit there so he is just m1 killer with potencial of getting hits through walls (sometimes when gods of DBd give you floor that is flat and with no elevation which is quite funny to think about it).

yeah it’s also been happening a lot on dead dog too.

By shack and main building, I still don’t know why shack is a foot higher anyway it’s really weird, keep getting stuck on the lips when trying to run into it.

I forgot how much elevation just screws up killer powers, houndmaster, artist, pyramid head just suffering in the corner.

I really want vecna for 2v8 so I can just unleash hell with the skeletons, knowing bhvr they’ll also probably add garden of joy and at least venca destroys most strong main buildings.

  • I didn’t expect this post to get so popular,

It’s refreshing to see most people that are here are nice aand civil, and it’s good to see different peoples povs.
I know I’m in the minority for defending legion I probably won’t miss him too much as I’m still filling my catalog of ghost face selfies, but yeah it’s good that bhvr are looking into solutions and this isn’t a permanent thing.

People blaming survivors for instantly mending lmao

That's not the problem, the issue is Legion can be oppressive when paired with another killer. Oni can get his power almost instantly because of Legion, Spirit can be a pain to face because of Legion.

Legion is a support killer, but not in a healthy way. Being injured almost all the time when there's a other killer will never be a fun a way to play and should never come back.

this point is null when in you consider most good survivors in 2v8 die anyway because both killers team up on them or they just get rolled by an insta down, being injured in 2v8 doesn’t matter nearly as much as long as you get pressure in exchange.
‘legion injures survivors and them easy targets for the other killer’

Yeah? So does every other killer. Wraith (hit and runs with stealth) ghost face (same problem as wraith except he’ll expose you from a mile away and give his teammate a free down) huntress (snipes you) blight is blight is nurse nurse you get the point.

People choosing to not counter the killer then whining because they then lose to said killer and get them gutted/removed is the reason we can’t get anywhere and people will continue whatever is meta/whatever gets the best results with the least work. Killers like krasue and ghoul

I feel like it's more the survivors instantly mending thinking the killer left and then they come back and give them more chain hits, rather than Legion being broken. He's still a relatively weak killer in the mode, it's simply just survivors playing poorly. It needs to be more apparent where the Legion is in 2v8, if people are just going to mend right away thinking they're safe. Maybe that comes down to lack of MMR in the mode to prioritize queue times, but that was the only frustration I've ever had vsing that killer in 2v8, people giving free chain hits

    exactly this.
when the survivors split up, camps pallets, or just wait to mend legion gets significantly weaker.

But they’d rather complain till he gets removed rather than offer other solutions. I mean it’s not like we can stop them from changing to game to their liking it’s literally an 8/2 ratio.

  • In my opinion they absolutely need to go forward with a new game, with a new engine.

    Just do what OW2 did.

Remake the same game from the ground up and transfer over everything that’s already in the game and make it F2P so veteran players don’t have to buy the game again.

DBD is monetized like a free to play anyway, battle pass, skins bundles, paid dlc.
Yes cheaters would of course be a big problem but that’s mitigated by actual having a brand new stable game that cheat developers will have to re-learn and break through (hopefully) an entirely new cheat detection software.

While it would absolutely blow chunks for everyone in the short term, it would pay off tenfold in the long term. Sadly I think dbd would never go for it, shareholders and higher ups will keep farming off of sable skins and broken chapters that people only buy because of the license it’s tied to. They have shown time and again they will choose the worst possible option and a week later say ‘sorry we messed up we’ll do better’ and we accept that because there’s no other game like this. It’s basic sunk cost fallacy, for us and them.

I sincerely hope the game truly does get better, but evidence has shown time and again whatever they put out will be broken and ‘eventually’ get fixed into a playable state. Except twins, merchant, and houndmaster who’re drowning constantly.

  • So I wasn’t crazy, I’m a console gamer so I just thought they sounded weird on the ptb bc I wasn’t personally playing, but if they actually stay like after getting real voice lines, it’d be pretty weird

  • It appears there’s also a bug with presets, and preset names being reset when closing the game. Hope this gets fixed soon.

  • They don’t even have to make unique spawns for killer items at all, just swap how the killer items and chests are weighted, so that killer items are prioritized first.

Even on the survivor side I hate that chests spawn so close to gens if I’m opening a chest I’m usually fishing for a medkit and don’t wanna be found in that current moment.

  • This is not fixed yet, and BHVR is trying to pretend it’s not even happening. They won’t killswitch trickster due to “lack of evidence”. Shameful
