Yup. Dead hard is still going to be busted and really unfun game design and still be a third health state. Surprise. It's fractionally worse but the major thing of getting a third health state on demand in scenarios where you should otherwise go down is still going to be there. I mean it could be just a band aid fix until they come up with a way to deal with Nurse because she is still a massive balance issue and Dead Hard is a good answer to her but it also punishes almost every other killer as much or more so.
Honestly I was really really hoping they'd absolutely dumpster it or better still change what it does entirely. Like going through breakable walls once per trial because seeing that animation used for that would be hilarious (not a serious suggestion, although I'd rather that then the current or 'nerfed' version). Every metric tells you it is so overwhelmingly overused and people are really done with it's nonsense and yet the show goes on.
Already made a prediction thread that it will still be the most used exhaustion perk and I will necro it when the time comes with a big 'TOLD YOU SO!'. I really hope I don't have to do that though, I'd rather the game work.
-
All they need to do is make it so that if a survivor is on hook and the killer is within 20 meters (maybe more) and not in chase with someone else the hook progress is slowed by 100%. The entity doesn't like it when you are watching them savour their food. Further after 10 seconds of being on the hook, Kindreds 'see the killer near the hook' is base kit and insidious no longer works against it. Numbers can be changed but the general anti camp sentiment is there.
This means if someone is camping, the counterplay (despite how unenjoyable it is for survivors involved) it is of doing generators is even more effective. The killer will get one person but that's all they'll get. There's really nothing you can do to eliminate camping entirely unless you change the game to make the killer have to hook survivors as a team a set number of times but that creates other problems of targeting weaker players to more easily reduce the value of experienced ones.
-
Honestly I still think DH will be the exhaustion perk of choice. It can still be used for distance. 1 second is a very long time and often makes the difference over whether you make a pallet or window. It also still can be activated whenever the user desires.
I dunno I really wish they just changed what it did entirely. Sniffing the survivors butt just sucks.
-
Interesting thing is auto dead hard definitely got stronger lol, cheaters rejoice?? I think it’s a nerf outside of that scenario but if it isn’t we will know very quickly.
Admittedly i was hoping they’d change what it does entirely. Sniffing a survivors butt and ‘waiting’ isn’t engaging gameplay, plus 1 second still means if they use it within 1 second reach of a safety they can still use it with zero counter play but alas, at least it’s not ‘as’ asinine and they still get deep wounds.
Honestly having thought about it, Dead Hard will still be the go to exhaustion perk. 1 second of invincibility is a long time in a chase and easily makes the difference between making or not making a pallet or window.
-
I hear you. I really dislike how flashlights work in this game. People are drawn to them to play hero in a dramatic way but the less dramatic ways are far more effective. Ironically similar to real life.
I mean using them after a pallet stun is fair enough but using them for saves is just not intuitive at all. It has to be at EXACTLY the right time, too early and you blind them but don't get the save and too late and they dodge it easily. It's also really unintuitive facing it as killer, the angles that do and don't work are really silly. Wish they'd get overhauled somehow so they are more used to make distance or distract the killer or something rather then try and torment them.
-
The honest truth though is matchmaking is broken :D. You don't need some arbitrary number to prove it. Just watching the massive variance in how players at your supposed skill level is pretty much proof of that. Especially noticeable on killer.
It'll just be a scapegoat for a problem that already exists. In other words, it doesn't matter.

Also, I think this event has marked the first time in my 3 years of DBD where my killer queue times were consistently longer than my surv times. Very strange.
This. Survivor times are near instant, killer times are as long as survivor times used to be. I do both but generally prefer to be on killer so I can give people a chase but ultimately not kill anyone. That said if more people want to play killer, I'll play survivor to speed things along.

i have almost no problems during the event. maybe because i'm in europe and people aren't even close to the toxic levels as in North America.
For what it's worth here in Australia, normally there have been off games but I encountered my first basement Insidious Bubba during this event. Played against Corrupt Intervention+Hex: Ruin, Hag and Nurse more times in the event then I have in the entire game I've played the game (2 and a bit months) and I've had some frustrating games but I think that's true regardless on solo survivor. Overall I'd definitely say toxicity levels on both sides is 'slightly' higher but not excessively.

strange cause there seem to be a lot of players that love to play legion as killer.
I am one of them. For me it's think their design on an artistic level draws me. They are after all 4 individuals which you can choose one of them (in my case Joey where's my forum icon damnit). Also the fact they are fairly easy to play plus the fact they stomp on weaker players means weaker killer players can get returns more easily. Which in turn creates 'I hate Legion'.
That doesn't make anything I said less valid. I like Legion because of who they are, not because of how they play. Hell most of the time I don't even use their power but I don't play to win.

didnt they already buff legion recently? his fatigue time got reduced and he can down someone after 4 stabs if i'm right
Buffs/Nerfs aren't the problem here. The design is just straight up bad and that can't be fixed by tweaking numbers. Ultimately the current design means that Legion decimates newer/weaker players and is near useless on competent ones.
@Thusly_Boned said:

It absolutely is, but it is also clearly the play vs. Legion.
How so? To down anyone unless the other side really screws up the Legion depends 100% on m1. You can loop or do whatever you want to Legion more so then any other killer provided you are wounded. Not saying you are wrong because of course it is a solid option but by that definition many killers are played against the same way.
-
This is case and friggin point about what I said. Ran the Legion around for ages, especially on this map which is horrible for them and I don't consider myself very good in chase. What are they doing? All healthy clumped together on a generator. I wonder what's going to happen next! Credit to the Mikaela though, I think she was on the generator first and she was the one to come and save me here.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not annoyed at 'bad team mates' and 'I have to do everything myself' and all that, that's not the point, there's not a good tutorial for this game that tells people clumping against the Legion is a really bad idea but it's people who do stuff like this that complain about the Legion.
-
You've played against every person who ever played killer ever? In only a few games? Impressive.
-
Ugh, I hate when threads get necroed lol.
-
Yeah I tend to find the worse a player is the more they hate Legion. I hate saying such a generalised cliche but it really fits here: Mad cus bad. Most people can’t adapt what they should do against a given killer and just want to be healthy at all times and do gens. Legion punishes lack of adaptability more then any other.
Mending simulator is annoying but you gotta remember that Legion is the only killer whose power is almost useless against wounded survivors. This might be a power in itself but Legion has no help against good loops on wounded survivors whatsoever. They rely 100% on m1. No traps, no stealth lunge, no bottles, no tentacles, no extra speed from stalk, no red vomit, they get nothing.
Bad survivors typically aren’t great at looping. They also tend to clump together inefficiently on one gen without prove thyself which is a Legions playground and results in loads of mending. They also tend to lack the awareness of when Legion is or is not in Frenzy and don’t adapt their play accordingly. Legion has a truck ton of exploitable design flaws that newer or bad players can’t exploit and are victim to their strengths.
Having said all that what Feral Frenzy and Legion does a whole needs a massive rework. I love Joey and he’s my favourite character in the game but the fact he’s so punishing to beginners and weaker players yet is basically powerless against experienced ones is a major issue.
-
Yeah. I know I did this once but it was by accident because the killer had Tinkerer or some other form of undetectable. I tried to take the hit but they ignored me. Never did it again since. Probably because I have borrowed time now and am very cautious about any rescue I make without it.
While we are on the subject of 'heroes' and 'mindless' things, can people please NOT finish generators while someone has a pig trap on their head? You can 99 them, but don't FINISH them. Stop being a damn generator junkie and THINK for a few seconds of the consequences. If they had ruin it'd be a conundrum but in many cases they don't. Bonus idiot points if you finish a generator while Pig has the iridescent to start everyone with traps. Again this stuff doesn't have a tutorial and is not intuitive so I'm likely preaching to the choir but ugh.

I'm very hyped for players to finally see the whole thing...I've watched it progress for months and I'm definitely very interested in seeing how the changes will be received and how much it changes build selection for both sides.
I am sure we're going to have some initial outcry on some changes, not everyone embraces change after all. But I do think that it's overall great for the health of the game, and much much needed.
Just as long as its not conservative as to avoid outcry... and well... as long as certain things don't stay on top for more than 6 months. Though yes, you cannot please everyone and wish lists will be shattered. That's the problem with vague build up and hype build up, someone is leaving disappointed.
-
I think the bloat can be managed if it's different flavours of the same thing with different levels of risk/reward/additional effects/trade offs. For example autodidact, a bad example to be sure and probably should start with having no benefit and going 10/20/30/40/50 with tokens compared to say Botany Knowledge which is more reliable. Rough example because Botany gives an additional effect on top of that but eh.
Obviously if stacking is an issue, then a hard cap could be introduced into all perks of the same type preventing players going over a certain number or diminishing returns with the same type of perk stacking.
-
Bots really cannot come soon enough
-
But but I like giving survivors party hats before they leave! Don't make me sad and make the party hats explode... :(
Shared this before but...
-
If survivors haven't won the game after using 30+ pallets, they don't deserve to win as a team. I'll agree that some maps are definitely worse. At least the survivors theoretically can run out of resources on Gideon's Pallet Factory but there's very little that's more demoralizing then going 5 feet, pallet, 5 feet pallet.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3011176#Comment_3011176
LOL. Poor Charlotte always being dragged into mess because of Victors childish antics.
Actually you just reinforced what I said <3. Some people hate a killer no matter what and I also said on the most part.
Legion is actually my most played killer and I had someone literally user named IHateLegion tell me that I don't hate your Legion. Granted I barely use Joey's power and just do it for the music and silly builds and vaulting but yeah.
-
I've asked this question a lot about which killers are fun to face. The answer is on the most part any of them as long as you don't play like a jerk (extreme tunnel/face camp). Oni is no exception.
True some lean more into 'nasty' play but really any killer can honestly be 'not fun' to go up against. Even if you try and be 'wholesome' some people can see something as toxic and hate playing against it no matter which killer you play.
-
Honestly no. The game is incredibly imbalanced which becomes more obvious when people sweat/try hard and why it's such a contentious issue. It basically makes 95% of the games content (well perks) useless and/or outclassed and ultimately is tilted to the survivors significantly. In a word Yawn.
If matchmaking worked of course this wouldn't be such an issue because sweaty players would be matched against other ones but for example just now with the exception of 1 game every game (of around 10) was either against an afk killer or a sweat lord running Nurse/Spirit + top tier perks/addons or some other well known combination.
-
Frankly I'd like to thank Nurse, Hex: ruin and face camping for making me sad during this. Hex: ruin can't be nerfed into the ground soon enough, it's such a dice roll perk. Either completely busted or useless. The other gen regression I don't have issues with. Dead Hard obviously too can go suck one but because more people are playing killer at the moment, I'm doing more survivor to get into games sooner.
Ghostface also gets a special mention. He isn't on the same level of power, I just dislike facing him immensely.
Having said that I'd like to thank wholesome players on both sides who try their best to make sure everyone has fun, though I'd argue that number is maybe 10-15% at best.
-
I do my best. Admittedly I think more are playing killer atm because queue times are longer but still on the most part it’s been good. I do wonder whether 2 hooking everyone and never killing is going to tank my mmr meaning that on average my games will be very easy for a while but so be it, I generally let obviously newer players go anyway. They aren’t going to learn or get better by killing them quickly.
Survivors need to reach end game to get their stuff so killing feels pretty mean.
-
Yeah this is the issue I have with it. Some survivors are straight up better then others because of sounds. It’s pretty significant.
If there is not a satisfying fix though you can use Bite the Bullet and provided self care doesn’t remove the… self care aspect of itself you can keep quiet if necessary that way.
-
Yeah if I’m on hook against Noed camping I will suicide to avoid a train wreck. Totem spawns are just asinine, either it’s in plain sight or tucked away in the middle of nowhere. Really hate hexes that aren’t plaything since their effectiveness is basically random.
Extra annoying though when I see people cleansing and go ‘I’m countering noed’. Really? Because there’s still three or more totems you haven’t got which means you aren’t countering crap and you’ve just removed one possible location we know about.
-
@DemonDaddy said:
We need at least one for every killer, but first and foremost we need Naughty Bear Trapper.
Oooh yes please. It’s funny not a fan of the one Joey or any of the Legion has though I adore Mr. Puddles.
-
Then they'll make more changes if this happens. Honestly at least killers know about SB at the start of a chase rather then being cheated at the end. Overcome is solid but the problem with it is that you don't control when you get it, the killer does and that may not be optimal for you.
Dead Hard is 100% in the players control provided they are wounded. 99% SB is potentially annoying but there's a lot of ifs and buts with it. Wil some people complain about SB? You bet but it's nothing compared to how many understandably hate on Dead Hard.
-
I'm not predicting anything. I mean regardless of what they do, someone is going to be disappointed but... well... I guess we'll see what they do. As long as they nuke Dead Hard from orbit and remove the camping toxic nonsense NoED encourages it'll be a start... provided they don't 'accidentally' break something else.
-
Maybe I should have unlocked Cannibal just to prestige 3 them so I never have to worry about bbq randomness again even though I'll probably never use him. Then again, I've got BBQ on most the killers I play now, though I got Joey to prestige 3 and it's likely the bloodpoint aspect of it is getting removed, hopefully for a passive effect.

Yay for Joey. I made a post in the creations section about Joey from another universe being a survivor if he refused Frank's order to kill and what his perks would be if you care to look.
I admittedly don't play too hard so rubberbanding while obviously a significant issue doesn't trouble me 'that' much. I know Legion is disliked by some for drawing the game out with mending simulator so I try keep the frenzy down. Only use it near the start when players are likely to be grouped up. Also in general and definitely at the moment with survivors needing to reach end game to get their masks, I'm trying not to hook anyone more than twice or well not killing them if they reach second stage.
-
Yeah Predator is worse and Fire up has niche fun builds at least if you stack what it offers. Beast Within, Territorial Imperative, Monstrous Shrine I'd all argue are worse.
I actually want fire up on Wraith to the 'stack destruction time/gen kick' while cloaked thing.
-
For killer I'd agree with Doctor. Ghostface maybe but only because how much he clearly enjoys his job. Plague would also rank very highly because she's being doing this for a very very long time and religious devotion is one hell of a drug.
For Survivor? Kate. The Entity feeds off survivors hope and discards them when there is nothing left which explains why we have killers dating back to Babylon yet Bill is the oldest survivor born in the late 1930s and wasn't taken until the late 2000s. Kate has a lot of hope and optimism to spare by the looks.

Both of those Artists look great! Trapper's looks good but I don't think anything he has really pulls it off. Huntress' looks good too but again she doesn't have anything that pulls it off. Deathslinger's is okay. Spirit makes people sad so I don't play her. Trickster's looks fairly good too but again don't play him because he's one of the most hated killers.
-
Predator and Autodidact. I would rather have no perk at all over having it. No perk should be THAT bad. Hell just today nearly lost a game because someone else's autodidact triggered on a group heal we were doing which cost us the time we needed to heal them. These two should have been top of the list. A lot of other worthy mentions in here.
-
Put mine on the killers but I’m actually using Angel of the Opera Wraith since I think that’s more fitting for the masquerade. Too bad he didn’t get one to go with that outfit. I’m also ringing the bell near invitations. I’ve got all of mine.
Really wish more survivors and killers got outfits fitting for a masquerade, especially the ones that got masks. Definitely agree the default hair with the mask for some really looks off, Ace especially.

One time I put traps on survivors after gens were done on the Game map figuring they could safely leave without taking them off. Instead of leaving they went to find the boxes to take them off. First survivor got their mask off quickly then opened the exit and left even though no one else had their trap off. One of the poor survivors took pretty much the entire EGC timer to get their trap off and died to EGC trying to run out the gate, they were soooo close too.
Yeah I’ve had this happen too. Makes me sad. As I’ve said elsewhere, there’s no tutorial for party hats and nothing telling players they can leave with an inactive one.
-
Especially with the masquerade on, I won't kill but I'll generally do my best (which isn't that good anyway) to get 2 hooks on everyone. After that, boop me as much as you want.
My personal favourite as Pig though is putting reverse bear traps on survivors AFTER the generators are done so they are useless.
"I want to play a game... The game is... I have to give you a hat without it blowing up and killing you!". I've given it to 4 survivors once, 3 survivors once and 2 survivors four times :D.

Yeah, it helps to have someone to bounce ideas off of, just to get stuff in you head on to a place you can read over again.
Sorry about the confusion when I say "sweet old man". Much like how carnivorous plants will give off sweet smells to attract insects, this killer (really should give him a name) will lure in victims to a place they can't escape, then strike.
So he enjoys the deception. Nice. A classic predator, lures its prey in with whatever it wants then SNAP. I can imagine that their 'collection' would entice a good selection of 'prey'. Even better if he has a way of alluding suspicion in some way too since the corpses just 'disappear'.
Would you say they entered the entity's realm willingly? Obviously they probably didn't go looking for it like some. If not how much did the resist the entity.

Welll..... considering that some people try and remove it before leaving even if it means dying to end game collapse I can understand the confusion. It's not like party hats have a tutorial. This Amanda isn't a bad person, just really misunderstood.

Well MAYBE the Entity shouldn't make stupid trials like Gideon's Pallet Factory.
For something that is supposedly well over 4,000 years old it's not very good at feeding itself.
I admit though I show mercy far too much for the entity's liking probably. I just want the entity to savour it's food rather then tossing it into the void prematurely. I'm doing this for your own good you know!

The reason I brought up the killer being a Vietnam veteran is mainly a justification for his fascination with plants and death. I'm imagining him as a younger man, patrolling through the jungle and stumbling across decaying bodies covered in plants and vines. Maybe even seeing a Pustula plant sparks something inside him.
I'm not too into sympathetic killers, mainly because there are already so many. We don't have many that are complete monsters. If anything I could make it that seeing a Pustula flower again becomes an Obsession. He finds it so beautiful and alluring, but is unable to find anything about it after the war and concludes that they grow from death or misery.
Again, the story could go in a lot of different way, but I just like the idea of a seemingly sweet old man turning out to be a monster and after being taken by The Entity, is transformed into a representation of what he is on the inside.
For sure. I admit I prefer sympathetic killers though I agree more need to be monsters. Especially female killers. Too many of them are tragic, don't know any better or are vengeful spirits (Spirit/Onyro).
Anyway on topic. Killers do not have to be sympathetic or tragic but they need a motivation more then a survivor does. To be a killer requires a 'spark'. I wasn't entirely clear on the direction of it before, now I'm getting it as I said with them being 'obsessed' with the science side of it and curiosity, not too dissimilar from Doctor but perhaps not THAT extreme.
I was getting mixed up with the 'sweet old man' and whether it was something corrupted or were the roots always rotten. Further how much of that was a façade and whether they enjoy the deception or do they find the 'price' of society tiring and just want to get on with their 'obsession'. I mean if I didn't feel like I'd go on and on I'd go through a series of questions and check lists. Still these conversations help build the character and it's nice to see things like that get built.

I'm very surprised at Predator not getting changed because its actively harmful. It can actually cause you to lose survivors because scratch marks don't spread against walls and certain terrain and areas actually cause you a disadvantage.
I get that Wraiths perks are meant to be very basic and help beginners track and Bloodhound not getting changes is... not ideal, however it's still a good beginner perk to teach beginners how blood patterns work and what to look out for when not using it but Predator is arguably the worst perk in the game because unlike all others it's actively harmful and the times it's useful don't outweigh the drawbacks. I'd rather not run a perk at all then run Predator. Yes, Wraith's adept was not fun.
Shadowborn isn't 'great' but it's useful in select situations and killers. Boosting it too much could be problematic.

I wouldn't worry. If you didn't see someone die (or disconnect) they'd show up as dead. If there was someone under there it was from a previous trial.
