I've said it a few times but the game is a toxic arms race. The simple fact is dealing with 3 survivors is easier then dealing with 4. Therefore if you can remove one early, you have an advantage. Plus if one is on hook you can pretty much guarantee at least one other sometimes more will attempt to rescue no matter what you do, not always but it's pretty common. Camping and tunneling in this case, slows the generator progression rate, especially if your killer is good at it. If you merely go and try to find one of the other three doing generators, there is no guarantee of return in this eventuality, whereas camping/tunneling is a guaranteed especially if you also catch someone trying to play hero.
This whole factor is why the game is a toxic arms race because the survivors respond to this playstyle with things that are toxic of their own and ultimately the math is simply rigged in favour of the survivors in terms of average chase times to generator times and this in turn can justify that the killer has to use every tool at their disposal to have a chance. So in light of that it simply does not make sense from a 'winning' perspective for the killer to play fair. Mind you, I don't care about winning so never camp and try to avoid tunneling but it's very simple logical sense why it's a problem.
As far as some survivors and killers are concerned, the other side is not a human being but someone who has the potential to ruin their enjoyment. Hence why teabagging and hitting on hook happens. It's 'payback' for what they endured from likely someone else. Really stupid but all you can do is be better yourself and be okay with what you as an individual do.

It takes 80 seconds for one person to do a generator. Well assuming no mistakes and maybe 20 seconds to find one. Granted the worse the survivors the longer it takes. Bloodlust 1 takes 15 seconds to reach. Even if you hit immediately and cannot hit without it, you are still getting downed in 30 seconds. Meanwhile that's a cumulative 90 seconds the other three survivors have for free. Guaranteed at least one generator. A killer needs to down survivors up to 12 times. See the problem?
If a killer is reaching bloodlust 3, the survivor being chased has already won. 45 seconds multiplied by 3 is 135 seconds or 2 minutes 15 seconds. That is almost two generators for ONE hit, not even a down. If the survivors aren't winning at that point something is very very wrong. This doesn't factor in hook times and whether the survivors get to prevent that as well and start the whole circus over again.
Furthermore, they cannot break pallets if they want to maintain bloodlust which adds options to the survivor. It is mindboggling to me that some people do not get that the killer is supposed to eventually win. Chases aren't supposed to go on forever. The game's bad map design has really deceived people into thinking chases are supposed to go on forever.

Kinda odd though because the lore on Susie (and Joey) is fairly limited. Maybe the art department really likes her but the lore one is only so so. Either that or there is truth in the 'theory' that Susie and Joey are not real and are merely the opposite side of the coin for Frank and Julie. That would make me sad though.
Joey is my favourite. I'm admittedly okay with his small selection. Still different skins for all the jobs he has failed to keep (and why) might be amusing. Or depressing because of truth in television :D.

My only issue with DS is when people abuse it and bodyblock you knowing that you can't take advantage of downing them. Well outside of leaving them slugged. Or when you are trying to hook somebody else and therefore are not tunneling yet they try bodyblock the hook knowing you can't do anything if you down them and you lose your original target. It's not a big deal because it only works once per game (unlike crutch hard) but honestly I feel there are better ways to handle tunneling, like making borrowed time standard kit for survivors. Though even that can be abused the same way and goodness knows how many times when I swing it hits the 'wrong' target for some reason.
Whatever the case I can't help but feel there are better solutions to the problems of the toxic arms race.

Play Ghostface and ask them what's their favourite scary movie in end game chat.
Maybe ask them 3 questions just for fun if they're into it and you yourself know something about horror movies.
You'll have to explain the reference to me. The slow in my name ain't for nothing. I actually want to watch more horror movies but don't know where to start and such.

I don't think anyone hates demo.
If you missed out on them it's a bit harder but I feel like Myers is generally well liked if you're not doing Tombstone or infinite t3.
I did miss out on demo. Kinda wanted them too. I'm still fairly new. I don't generally use addons because I don't want to get used to them and then be unable to use them. I know you get a lot of them but yeah, I just don't like them. Don't mind if they are used against me or whatever.
Scratched mirror does sound like a lot of fun but it is an addon on and a very rare one at that.

Doesn't matter what you pick, survivors will never be pleased. If killers played how survivors want them to, you'd have to stand in the corner of the map and wait for the game to be over.
Just pick something you find fun to play, or just be a complete menace and play killers that will make survivors unleash their salt.
Don't listen to survivor rulebook for killers :D
Ironically I played against this on survivor 6 times today. Don't think my team mates liked it too much :D. I can only wonder if this is the next level of the toxic arms race this game can be if you let it. I appreciate the thought but this sort of thing just isn't in my nature.

Honestly I love going against Nurses, Demos, Billys, Deathslingers and Twins, but tbh if you're not playing to win and therefore aren't sweating every killer should be fine; unless the survivors hate this particular killer for some reason (usually Spirit & Freddy), I personally hate Wraiths no matter how they play lmao but i don't get mad at ppl solely bc they play him.
Everyone has a killer they hate for random reasons so you might as well play whoever you want!
Yeah sometimes I'd like to offer survivors a choice of three :D. Pick your (or my) mode of suffering.
-
The other thing I'd add to that is if you don't want to take a perk you don't have to. For example, I was levelling Huntress and could only take the orange huntress lullaby perk because all other options were eliminated, which means now it appears anywhere else even though I do not want it and don't want to use it. Maybe things will change but I hated being forced to take something that I knew would be a problem later.
Honestly more then that, I'd like to sell addons and offerings for 25% of their bloodpoint value. I hate clutter and I'm never going to use most of these things. I don't like using addons, but some do I get it.
-
Yeah four games I played on survivor was against an obvious bot but not in the usual sense. It chose doctor and constantly spammed shock and m1ed anyone that got into range. It otherwise stood perfectly still. I suspect they are trying to farm bloodpoints or something. I mean granted I'd rather that then other variants of bots but stuff like that in most games is generally frowned upon.

Holy #########, the meme is that survivors are whiny and entitled and try to complain until they get their way, but there are more daily DH threads than active users on this forum.
Which honestly reinforces how frustrating this terrible thing is. Even without DH, if survivors play semi well you have very little time to actually hook them to kill them. The simple math of time to kill vs. average gen speed is simply not on the killers side. DH takes this problem and multiplies it by 2 at least.
Really I think it's more a frustration factor then a balance one at this point. Hence why there's so much ranting about it.
@AndyKuky said:
It’s gotten to the point that I rarely play killer anymore and when I do, any survivor who uses DH to distance to a new tile after I outplay them, I will tunnel them out of the game. The fun of this game as killer is outplaying survivors and having fun chases. There’s nothing fun about forcing a survivor into a mistake and then they just press a button and erase the mistake.
Survivors complain a lot about NOED, but NOED is only active during the end game and only if there is a dull totem left. And typically it might get you one instant down on someone who was full health and then it gets cleansed or the other survivors leave. So it might reward you in 1-2 “chases” at end game. DH can be used once every 40 seconds to extend chases and cost the killers minutes worth of time, every single game. It’s insane how strong the perk is.
I am glad Evil Dead is so fun as survivor, I can play even less DbD. I really hope it hits their player numbers and they take a better look at why people aren’t satisfied with their game.
The thing is that if killers were offered the ability to trade NOED or even three additional killer perks to be removed to get rid of Dead Hard they would take that deal without hesitation.

I gotta be better then my enemies and can't tar all of them with the same brush Charlotte ;). Otherwise you become the very people who sought you out. Which y'know, is exactly why you are a killer and not a survivor.

Play bubba ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I actually enjoy playing against him as long as he respect the sanitary distances once he hooks someone.
I find too billy super fun to play against, but can be frustrating to play (you're more playing against the mechanics and collisions than against the survivors), I'm at best decent with him and usually survivors were happy in post game chat. I understand you don't like playing him.
I'd recommend you Oni, I think most survivors enjoy playing against him.
Maybe yes. Oni does seem to be well liked too and I haven't tried him yet. Plus I like blood echo. Not a fan of the lore, I kinda like my killers tragic or mislead which makes showing mercy have more sense but alas can't have everything. I'm a picky thing.
-
I have thought about trying them but people seem to really hate going up against them. True I've learned that when people say that it's more about playstyle then the actual killers abilities but I don't want people to be miserable... even if certain survive with friends groups show no such mercy for me... 😥

"BHVR tries to embrace LGBT community while not giving a single F on game balance."
What does the lore team have to do with the balance team? whole thing needs to be thrown in the trash.
The lore team does an excellent job and whoever thanks people for things can thank them I didn't leave when I first joined and had pretty awful experiences. This may have been during the matchmaking experiments though so that may have been a factor because the return was less bumpy. May have also helped that I stockpiled loads of bloodpoints from when they were handing out around 100,000 of them a day so I had a few more perks to work with second time around.
It's a shame the game is so harsh on newer players and lacks single player features. Yes it's a party game but some people like to play such games alone with AI because they don't like letting other people down, anxiety and other issues.
-
Honestly I just wish (among other bloodweb fixes) that we’re gunna live forever and bbq and chili were passive effects for their blood point gain. Or better yet, just always grant the 100% boost. I probably wouldn’t use either perk if it weren’t for the blood points but they are both solid perks without the blood points anyway. Certainly above average in usefulness.

I agree. Pig is way too op for this game. She's honestly the reason why the game is so unbalanced. They should make her reverse bear traps just decorations so that they can't kill the survivors. Honestly, survivors and the killer should get a bp bonus because the survivors leave with party hats. Her chase power is too oppressive as well. They need to make her dash charge longer and decrease the speed and distance she goes in her dash. I'm surprised the survivors don't just automatically die if they don't boop the snoot. Nerf pig bottomline.
Also, people need to learn how to read sarcasm lol.
I personally would prefer that to the way bear traps work now as someone who wants to play Pig :D. At least I'm guaranteed to get something out of placing hats on someone and they won't disconnect whenever I do. I give gifts to survivors!
-
I want to play her because I kinda like her ambush being slightly different to Wraith even if it is weak or whatever, don't care. Reverse Bear Traps however are an awful design and honestly in playing her, I had more DC's against me then ever because I planted one of them on their heads. I kinda get it and if I play Pig now I don't use them.
I mean sure RNG being her 'thing' is thematically appropriate but surely there's something else it could do that would make her better in general and less of a 'new player' basher.
-
The realistic fact is this game is a toxic arms race if you let it be. Hence why the only answer to bubba camping is 'do gens'. Not fun but a natural conclusion. It's simply not worth playing 'for real' or 'being pro' or any variant thereof, not unless there are specific rules of engagement both sides agree to in an organised environment. I.e 'competitive'
You let natural thought flow and play and counterplay go naturally? Tunneling, camping and bully squads is where the game ends up. It's a poorly designed mess on both sides. Poorly balanced perhaps, but it's the design problems which are the culprit of turning the game into a toxic arms race.

I've been binge watching "Sabo squad fail" videos on YouTube like a new season of sopranos just released lmao so satisfying to watch especially the post match salt
Wow yes please. This happened to me three games in a row. It's just... so awful to play against. The third game I just stepped in my own traps constantly as trapper going back and forward. I wouldn't play their game anymore. Certainly not on Gideon's Crate Warehouse. Don't get me wrong, I know I'm bad at the game, I'm still learning it, but I just want everyone to have fun and seeing this happen so many times?
This stuff is the worst. The fact that some hooks are outright impossible to make and/or the survivors only need to sabotage one to 100% stop you hooking someone is a massive design flaw. I think the thing that's sad is I can think of several ways to grief/bully the killer that haven't been addressed by exploiting similar design flaws.
I should point out that I believe sabotage is fine. If I commit to a hook and aren't careful and it gets sabotaged and I lose the survivor fair enough, but when people make it their mission to make hooking impossible? Just... ugh... The fact that such a thing is easily doable is disgusting.
-
Sums up the game entirely some would say.
Really 4k or 3k with hatch escape should suffice.
-
I did spend my first lot of monthly points today on Pig because I kinda like the variant on the stealth and some of her perks but people REALLY do not like having reverse bear traps stuck on them. Had more people DC then I ever had before in my short career. I kinda get it though. The RNG nature of it and 'anxiety' of the reverse bear trap timer isn't that much fun.
Like other aspects of her more anyway and I know she's weak but... I do wish they'd rework the reverse bear traps to be less RNG and have another effect entirely but still prevent escape (normal not hatch) until it was disarmed.
-
Nah. I change them based on mood. Though the only variable cosmetics I have is for Joey, the cosplay one he has and the standard black one.
-
What deep wound or at least Feral Frenzy does on hit probably should be changed. Not nerfed but changed to something that's a little more interactive beyond 'mend' and can be played around/with when both using it and playing against it.
I want to play Legion more but don't because I realise that mending constantly is just tedious to play against and I want to make things fun for all players.

I wanna see how many people are actually high MMR because if we go by this forum every single person here is high mrr lmao
If I'm high MMR, the system is broke. I'm still garbage. I miss so many swings, I fall for stupid stuff I know I shouldn't. I still don't know the maps but I'm getting there.
-
I'm only just starting out... well a bit more then a few weeks ago but still less then 80 hours. I generally try to be nice, especially to obviously newer players like myself because I almost didn't continue playing after my first few experiences which I think was when they were experimenting with MMR.
The problem I have is with matchmaking is the wild swings it has. As the easiest example, I play Legion against one group and they all split up and know I'm coming with Frenzy WAY before they could possibly know that unless they are on comms which I suspect many are in this case, which is fine of course, survive with friends isn't an issue I care about.
On the other hand, the very next game I'm matched with people who don't mend from deep wound and easily allow me to chain 4 hits and the instadown and then 3 of them are on the ground. I then feel bad about killing them because the tutorial does such a crappy job at explaining this stuff to people. Either way feels bad, especially for someone who tries to make the game fun for others. I don't care about winning, I just want everyone to have a relatively good time.
I was sort of hoping that the fact I was merciful and let people escape when I totally shouldn't would negatively effect my MMR. Turns out? No.
