I don't see how this could ever work. I literally would not be able to focus on playing if I saw Shaggy pulling up and start working on a gen.

It´s not a far stretch from what we have already. Survivors with the goofiest of cosmetics getting chased in circles around a car by Santa or Bunny Costume kids with knives is basically Scoopy Doo already. The thematical direction the game has taken leads to Scooby Doo being the next logical choice for a license.

Trapper , Wraith and Clown without red addons = Genrushed every game, say thx to god if you get 1 or 2 hooks at end

That´s an exxageration. I´m a Trapper "main" and I´m consistently rank 1 all the time, most of the time using trapper sack + trapper gloves/trap setters. I used to almost always bring a tar bottle, I think it used to be S tier on him, but new Autohaven and Ormondo really hurt the value of the addon, same with reworked grass in general with the exception being MacMillan maps.

To lose 1-2 gens at the start is expected. Yes, Trapper is inconsistent and has the most RNG involving his gameplay, but when you´re an experienced Trapper you should be able to 4k most games. It´s pretty insane how much skill and effort it takes compared to mid- or even high tier Killers, though.

  • Trapper is a strong contester for weakest Killer in the game. His power is time consuming, easy to avoid and gives little payoff. Imho, no Killer needs buffs more than him. The only Killer with a comparably weak basekit would be wraith.

You can also use trap setters or fastening tools to play more aggressively, btw.

  • Can you provide a source? These seem like great changes, but the wording in the first Killer Updates paragraph makes me suspicious that this is just a fake. Also, the numbers on the ropes/chains are very low already iirc, nerfing them any further would propably bring them to speed limiter tier in terms of power.

  • First off, congratulations! 6 months without any hacker encounters seems like a breathtaking streak.

What you saw are pretty popular cheats. It´s gotten worse ever since the public got more educated on how to cheat in DBD, and the EAC doesn´t exactly deserve its name.

I actually had one of each of those today 😄 ruin/undying/tinkerer/sloppy with paintbrush + swing chains freddo got a 1k, ruin/undying/stridor/forgotten the 4th perk spirit got 2k including me and was pretty shocked that was all she got (but was a good sport about it) I might've lived too if I didn't respond to her fake phasing by resetting a pallet

Weirdest thing about that match was how nice everyone was to each other in postgame considering what the spirit was running and my teammates rocking ds/unbreakable, always good to see

    LoL unlucky :D

Cool stuff though, I also very much enjoy when everyone is a good sport about the match, be it with or without "sweaty" builds.

Speak for yourself, I play solo with joke perks and I escape plenty.

Same here. I think the myth of getting either Forever Freddy or Yakuyoke/MDR/Ruin+Undying+Tinkerer+Stridor Spirit with 5000hrs is about as legit as Killers complaining they get tournament squads every other game.

  • No one has come up with a good way to balance SWF vs solo. While it holds true that playing with friends on comms doesnt make them good loopers, it´s also fair to say that it enables them to perform leagues better than if they were solo.

I´m disappointed how incredibly large the power gaps between Killers are. I think these should be lessened (most drastic example being Spirit vs Trapper. One is viable without addons even against the best teams in the world while the other is barely viable against multithousand hour swf even when using the best possible loadout). This would also help the Survivors, since it would increase Killer variety in red ranks.

Ruin+Undying+Tinkerer is an unhealthy combo for the game. It´s okay-ish against a good team but way too oppressive against 4 clueless Solos with no way to coordinate dealing with it.

DS+UB is also unhealthy for the game. It creates scenarios where the Killers best play is to stand still, either above a slug or in front of a locker. Very fun and interactive. I think these perks deserve to be in DBD but they 100% need some tweaking.

Tile design is too much in favor of the Survivor. I´ll be happy if we get more pallets, but all of them but a select 1 or 2 per map were unsafe. As of now, 98,5% of all pallets are 100% safe in M1 gameplay, which makes it far too easy even for average Survivors to extend chases unreasonably much.

They screwed up royally with autohaven gyms. Anyone remember old coldwind gyms and why they were changed? They straight up went back to this and to top it off they made them so low a tall Killer can easily be seen over, even without stretch res cheating.

Grass in the reworked maps hurt Trapper, especially in Ormondo and Autohaven where the ground contrasts so heavily with traps.

Breakable Walls for the most part serve no purpose other than forcing the Killer to lose chases until he breaks them.

Mobility in one way or another is still a Killers strongest asset since without it, it is impossible to effectively pressure gens against good Survivors. This contributes to the stale competitive meta.

Object still being in the game and the head of balance, who´s otherwise a very smart and talented guy, thinks the perk is fine, completely olivious to the issues attached to it.

Keys are way too strong, and certain items are too strong against certain Killers (Raindbow Map or red twine on a regular map against Trapper for example).

Perk meta on both sides has been mostly stale for years since the OP ones don´t get nerfed enough (but gearhead was, wow!) and the bad perks (read: 90% of perks) don´t get buffed at a reasonable rate. 3 ever so slight number tweaks every couple of months is barely better than nothing.

This is what I can instantly think of from the top of my head.

  • Trapper

2 traps base carrying capacity, starts with 2 traps

Reworked Bags: Trapper Sack now gives +0/+1, Trapper Bag +1/+1 and Stitched Bag +1/+2

Stepping on a bear trap while healthy causes 5% hindered until fully healed

Stepping on a bear trap while injured causes 5% hindered and deep wounds after freed

Stepping on a bear trap while in deep wounds causes 5% hindered and the honing stone effect

Longwood Dye basekit, darkening addons darken the same degree but going from there

Disarm time increased by 1,5 seconds

Killer Instinct indicating disarm in progress

Rescue time increased by 3 seconds

Escape time increased by 1 second

Trap spawn range check: traps now can´t spawn closer than 25m from the edges of the map

Serrated jaws swap tier rarity with rusty jaws and cause 5% extra hindered instead of hemmorage

Extreme nerf to Object or some base mechanic for Trapper to not be hard countered by the perk

    Myers

Range Stalk penalty reduced by 50%

Bonus stalk progression for stalking multiple Survivors

Stolen from Otz: A successfull hit in EW1 completely fills the gauge so an immediate tier up is possible.

"Evil" in the Survivors now regenerates at a rate of 1 for every 45 sec the Survivor hasn´t been stalked

Trigger mechanic to tier up similar to Oni (same sound cue as before)

After Tier 3 ends, 30 seconds of Undetectable

Reduce height by 2 feet (from 9 to 7)

    Tier 1 MS increase to 4.4 (110%)

Remove movementspeed penalty from Vanity Mirror

Reduce Scratched Mirror aura reading range to 24m

I think with these changes both of these Killers could potentially climb up into the mid tier. I don´t think any of this would make either of them anywhere near as strong as Nurse, Spirits, Freddy, Phead or Bubba.

Oh yeah I forgot about the archives they don't pull punches in there. I read Hillbilly's story.

Sexual components? the most that could be is suggestive themes. an outfit that shows a midriff really isn't that bad. this isn't the 1960s.

DBD contains lots of sexual connotations.

It´s a game of chase and desire, obsession, submission and dominance, tease and denial. Survivors often sound like they enjoy getting hit, picked up and hooked way too much, most prominent examples being Jane, Feng and Adam.

We have moved away from classic slasher Survivor outfits and got a wide variety of silly, goofy, sexy and cute outfits to make the characters more visually appealing.

It´s no coincidence that this community is the thirstiest of them all, no matter if they´re straight, gay or other.

Honestly, pretty much everything. I like her outfits better, I like her look better, she's a lot rarer to see, and I resonate a lot with her lore, at least the childhood part of it.

That´s quite a handful of reasons, good for you!

Yeah, trapper needs some serious quality of life adjustments.

RNG with him and pig both needs to go as well, it just causes too many unfair points in games.

People getting out of my traps first try....yeah.....you get back in that trap where you belong Jake

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HpoGOfZyq8

I know the feels, 1st try escapes happen about 50% of the time in my experience. Since Wraith and Clown buffs are announced, he´s the next logical choice to revisit.

Also, greetings fellow Krampus player :)

  • I actually main Trapper and Myers, but I´ve played tons of Oni recently, ngl he´s leagues above them in power which makes me kinda sad. I´m still kinda clunky but I´m getting better.

I´m using the BP I´m farming with him (he seems to be an insane bp generator) to p3 more Survivors. Kate will be done soon, Feng is next, and I think I´ll leave it at 5. Prestiging is so tedious.

What made you switch to Zarina?

  • The gore is very mild, agreed, but there are exceptions. Deathslinger Mori, for exmple, is quite grueseome, same with Clown, Myers and Oni.

There are many references to severe acts of violence in descriptions etc.

Also, the intense sexual components of DBD might have contributed to the M rating.

  • -heavy nerf to Object of Obsession. emphasis on heavy

-Release schedule reduced to 3 chapters per year to enable the devs to actually focus on game health, balance and performance

-Rework of Coldwind Farm, Haddonfield, Asylum and Swamp

-reevaluation of breakable walls, some are too harsh for the Killer (Coal tower, Dead Dawg Saloon)

-Introduction of more cues and base aura reading for soloq

-more options to score in the Survival category

-serious buffs to the unused trash perks for both sides (which are like 90% of all perks)

-buffs and QOL changes to the Killers that need them the most (Wraith, Clown, Trapper, Myers)

    -Spirit and Freddy nerf

-addon pass for Huntress, Myers, Clown, Wraith and Trapper (has to be leagues above the Billy pass in terms of quality)

-harsher DC penalty escalation, maybe introduction of a quitter qeue

    -strong key nerf

-adjustment of Autohaven gym walls to enable mindgames again

-addressing hook suicides in some way

-introduction of at least some form of protection against hackers

-more frequent balance patches, given the history of how well patches are pushed out I got a feeling the bigger the patch the worse the bugs

Edit: Friday the 13th chapter, you can make it happen Matthieu!

These are the urgent issues I can think of from the top of my head, and I´ll be happy even if they only manage to solve 2/3rds of these.

  • Really hope so. There are tons of perks that are basically never used and need buffs. I´d also like them to finally do something about the Object issue, so fingers crossed :)

  • @Huge_Bush said:

Looping. Unfortunately, I have reached the ceiling for me. I have carpal tunnel syndrome and can't last too long in chases and it's near impossible for me to look back while running. So I have resorted to being a helpful bush instead.

That´s really bad, I hope you´re holding up well enough!

    Also, love your username :)

  • It´s not only gotten worse for Survivors.

As a tall Killer, say goodbye to any mindgames in the gyms - your head can be seen over the walls, and your body often, too since there are so many see-through gaps. It´s like old coldwind gyms are back, but worse.

Also, Trapper suffered from the reworked grounds and grass there.

  • How to deal with 20k+ hrs SWF. I´ve faced quite a bunch of them recently and they give me such a hard time.

Also getting Blood fury downs at jungle gyms, apart from certain map unique tiles (Pale Rose boat, Lerys, Cowshed, Disturbed Ward bulding) they give me the most trouble.

Also how to mindgame Survivors who can see your every move at Autohaven gyms.

    2020 goals yeah :D

  • To a degree, this holds true for Myers. The entity seems to struggle to control him.

I wonder why a rogue Killer would put Survivors on hooks to sacrifice them, though, or use offerings/perks given by the entity.

  • This would effectively do nothing since after you are on the hook your exhaustion resets.

  • Well sorry for your bad encounter, but also how dare you? Fengs are precious little cupcakes who need to be protecc and given hatch!

I once went in to save a ttv on the hook and crouched near them because their pal was running the killer around the hook... I don't have BT so I had to wait and they got so mad at me for it. At the end he went to my name on the list and shouted "IT'S ALWAYS CONSOLE PLAYERS THAT PISS ME OFF THE MOST!!!!!!" and I felt so bad... My build is seen as one of those weak survivor ones but having so many people assume my style off of someone's TTV clips or from one match makes me so anxious! But yes, some TTVs and red ranks DC or suicide wayyyy too early! I'll never understand that :(

People get offended way too much and make too many assumptions in DBD. I´m so sorry, this guy sounds very rude. Don´t worry about what it may look like in a short twitch clip, there is almost no one who plays esports level DBD at any waking second lol.

Also, hope you will be spending a nice new years eve! You too @Moundshroud !

  • NGL I was expecting something different reading the title :D

It's truly a shame though but unfortunately pretty common. Sucks to have teammates like that, but also sucks for the Killer to get robbed of a good match.

By the way, since you seem to enjoy SMM so much (I do too) have you ever considered giving Ghostface a try? I got a feeling you might like his playstyle, but he lacks the class and prestige of Myers.

  • Renjiros glove has his niche for a meme build, I´d give this effect to the Iridescent Family Crest. Great idea btw, but I think this addon is more needy of a rework.

  • Hoarder is an active detriment for the Killer in its current state.

It kinda fits a niche in meme Krampus builds though, so that´s a plus.

  • That would be a great matchup.

I´d like to see a threeway feude between Amanda, Danny and Michael. Pig and Ghostface propably plotting and preparing for weeks only to get utterly destroyed anyway :D

Also, Oni vs Huntress to determine who´s the most powerful fighter in the entitys realm once and for all.

  • I sometimes shake my head when a Survivor steps into the same bear trap TWICE, just to show my disappointment.

  • Myers: Corrupt (obvious choice), Pop, BBQ (bloodpoints, really) and Brutal Strength, reason being that most survivors panic against EW3 and I can just rip through a ton of pallets if I don´t get an immediate down. No addons 9/10 matches.

Trapper: Corrupt, STBFL, Pop, Flex (mostly bbq, Whispers, Devour,TT). It´s just the best reliable base for most matches. Bag and Tar Bottle or a setting speed addon.

Oni: Scotts Build, as I don´t wanna crutch on Ruin+Undying. No addons.

Clown: Ruin+Undying ( :D ) Tinkerer BBQ for relaxed matches. Addons as I see fit, I like running stronger ones on him.

Ghostface: Surge, Surveillance, Sloppy and BBQ/Whispers/TT/Nurses/Corrupt/Pop. Double recovery with vayring degrees of rarity.

    @Metalhead said:

    Killer: Krampus

Perks: Agitation, Enduring, Iron Grasp, BBQ

Add Ons: Padded Jaws and oily springs

This is basically a BP farming/have fun/surprise survivors with cool skin set up. Survivors that get trapped are picked up from the trap (if I get there in time) and agitation + grasp gives me time and speed to carry them halfway across the map to the basement where I can try and lock the game down.

Yes... I wrote Padded Jaws. I'm that guy.

Neat! I also have a Krampus fun build. The theme is to encourage teamplay and punish the naughty who dare touch my stuff.

Bloody Coil+ Honing Stone, Haunted Grounds, Hoarder, Thana, flex (oppression, agitation, retribution, dragons grip, something like that). Bonus points for Ormondo offering!

  • I´m trying to get really good at Oni and Ghostface, since I feel there isn´t much more to learn or achieve for my other mains and I gave up on Hillbilly.

Also, I´m always greedy for pallet saves. 2 more and I got 100% on DBD, but it´s rough in soloq.

  • P3+all perks:

Survivors: David, Laurie and soon Jane

Killers: Trapper, Billy, Freddy, Myers, Bubba, Ghostface, Oni, Clown

  • Object of Obsession for Survivors, it´s the most unfair and unfun thing left in the game.

Toss between Undying and NOED for Killer

I´d rather have them tweaked to a reasoable level instead of removing them altogether though

  • Getting a great Trapper snowball going, it´s even more rewarding than with Oni.

Also getting a MacMillan Map :)

  • Plague, Hag, Twins would be the rarest for me.

  • Plague has insanely good perks, twins perks are trash tier.

She´s also propably the better Killer but I play neither ever since I got their respective achievements.

  • Delay the first hit as much as you can. Don´t greed the early pallets, its okay to waste a couple.

Jungle Gyms are super safe even when he uses his power (less so with topknot) and most maps have a window or two where he can´t get you no matter what.

Heal far away from the action to make it painful for him (or impossible) to refuel.

If you´re really skilled, abuse his FOV when he Demon strikes to dodge him.

  • I don´t think there is one.

My estimation is that around 90% of players are red ranks, though.

  • Yes, you are free to use any item and addon you´d like. If you escape while only using the characters respective teachable perks, you will get the achievement.

  • There are issues for Killer, too.

New autohaven gyms are so low you can see the Killer at all times when it´s a tall one

Fun bus is still as busted as ever

New grass makes it next to impossible to hide bear traps

breakable walls are 100% to the Killers detriment

You had bad rng in shelter woods. It´s a bad map for survivor for sure, but it´s pretty rare not to have at least 3 strong gyms

  • Pig is pretty high in mid tier imo.

Versatile, multipower basekit - stealth, chase ability and base stall, actually quite reminiscent of Freddys kit. No suprise pig seems to perform so well compared to most other Killers.

  • Onis power isnt smashing, it´s making Survivors hide with wet and smelly pants.

  • Jason Voorhees. I´d be fine if he was the next DLC and none were to come for years tbh.

Wasn't nurse in the bottom half before?

That means more and more people are learning how to play nurse....so I mean as more people learn her, and there are less newer players to her losing....we're gonna be seeing her slowly going up and up tbh.....

I mean they already rose through the ranks quite a bit in just one year.....

I think what Almo is refferring to means that among the top 1% players, Nurse is in the top 25% of best performing Killers, so this doesn´t neccessarily mean that more people play her.

Overall, Nurse is the weakest/worst performing Killer according to the stats.

that's for sure, but i played him enough to know where his best traps spots are and how better he would be with 2 by default, he wouldn'T be op, far from it, but he would become A tier i am sure

Strongly disagree. Trapper will never be A tier until either his traps are tremendously buffed in several ways and/or he gets a secondary ability.

He´s currently a strong contester for the title of weakest Killer, and for good reason. I "main" him and feel very confident in my Trapper, but there´s no arguing that he lacks in so many aspects compared to the good Killers. It´s always an uphill battle unless you fight potato survivors (thankfully 9/10 survivors ARE potatos).

  • Only true noobs (no offense) would consider Trapper OP, even if he started with 3 traps. Even with his best loadout he´s not as strong as basekit Hag, Spirit, Nurse, Freddy or Huntress.

  • At least Legion is strong enough to be successfully played in tournaments (e.g.: Otzdarva), yet you won´t see anyone trying Myers or Trapper there.

  • A jungle-themed map would be neat, with ruins and all. Preferably with a Predator-esque Killer

  • I think they should stay, with a little tweak:

Since survivors are 4, the Killers offering should have a bigger impact. The formula should look like this:

    4 Survivor offerings> Killer Offering

    Killer offering = 3 Survivor offerings (50/50)

    Killer offering> 1/2 Survivor offerings

  • As Killer you have two things that set you apart from Survivors:

-Burden of performance, nothing can make up for your mistakes

-few margin for error, none at all against good survivors, to the point where you guess wrong once in a 50/50 situation that´s gg. There are Killers that suffer less from that, but this holds true for most of the roster. As Survivor, you can screw up a lot and then some and still win.

I still enjoy rockin funny builds, though, I just don´t expect to steamroll a sweatsquad with them. Currently, totem Krampus trapper is something I have fun with: Retribution, Haunted Grounds, ToTH, Blood Favor. It sucks, but it´s fun when it works, as I´m currently kinda burned out from running "meta" builds all the time. The only Killer I run the actual build (ruin/undying/tinkerer/bbq) that most people would consider meta would be Clown, though.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 33
