I mean I have been playing this game since 2017 winter and I haven't had any issues with fps or freezing. Still I have no issues literally 0 but it might be because I have a high end budget GPU so I don't know. But if there was a serious problem I think half the forum would be filled with similar posts I think you just saw like 5-10 posts and it is giving you there is an issue. I might be wrong so I will leave it here lol. Internet gives you the delusion of everybody think the same way you do very easily that is all I am saying. Infinite loading was a thing for a while it is all luck too. Sometimes I get 100 games with 2 infinite sometimes 10 games with 5 infinite loading. 50/50.
hence why i said "more players", aka people i've been discussing this with in-game. forums don't always carry the same conversations people are having in post-game chat or survivor lobby chat. :0

i think this game is kinda old to discuss optimazation
you don't needs to have expensive parts to run this game 100+ frames
haswell series now super cheap and enough for most games and this one too
card of mine is 1070 and still no problem
its kinda fair cause dbd had few of big graphic update from released
understandable! i completely get what you mean.

triple post, but to add onto my statement; it seems like more players are experiencing this issue as well, as well as commonly experiencing more crashes and infinite uploads again. dbd also seems to go unresponsive quite easily. something is going on here.

What is your specs though ? You can't blame the game if you buy it ignoring the required system specs. It is like someone saying they will shoot if you run and you run anyway and complain lol.
Low settings is
- Processor: Intel Core i3-4170 or AMD FX-8120
- Graphics: DX11 Compatible GeForce GTX 460 1GB or AMD HD 6850 1GB
High settings is
- Processor: Intel Core i3-4170 or AMD FX-8300 or higher
- Graphics: DX11 Compatible GeForce 760 or AMD HD 8800 or higher with 4GB of RAM
regardless of my specs, the issue at hand is that this has been an ongoing thing after the recent update. i don't exactly have the best specs, but they're decent enough to run the game at a medium setting without tinkering with .ini files.

yes, the game is poorly optimized
one thing i've noticed that is specific to this patch is there seems to be a memory leak; the longer the game is open the more it freezes when transitioning between menus, though this has little in-game consequences
right, i understand you. i've definitely noticed the memory leak myself, and i even noticed that dbd tends to suck up more and more of my cpu as time goes on. its gotten so bad to the point that it 99'd both my ram and cpu after playing for about 4 hours. i was forced to restart the game.

update: so it seems like lobbies are fixed again, though it's still a bit of a lengthy wait time for killers. :Thinking:
-
i wish. :pensive:
-
to me, yeah, considering her initial range isn't too far, and that her fatigue time is reasonable.
her power may seem strong to those, but to me, she seems perfectly fine!
-
i wish i had your luck. :(

@artist said:
as killer it takes me like 10 minutes to get a lobby
as survivor I get lobbies in like 5 seconds but they're always 200 ping so I dodge. when I do get a low ping lobby I'm the only one there and have to wait 2 minutes for others to show up.
it's seriously annoying
exactly what i'm dealing with, except for killer lobbies, i'm (on average) making a lobby in 30 minutes or more. it's terrible.
-
i breathe and get tunneled/camped every time i'm even looked at by a killer.
i also slap survivors with whatever weapon i have and hook them.
-
i second this!
-
it depends on the format of the event. it'd be nice to prevent events from completely taking over and ruining the experience (via firecrackers, laggy graphics, forcing people to farm)!

i know i shouldn't be advertising my own thread, but instead of typing out an entire 37892478934 word long paragraph, here's a excerpt from https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/73074/opinions-on-the-whole-nerf-nurse-discussion#latest ;
"1.) Nurse is only as good as the player who's using her.
Nurse isn't too powerful if the person who's playing as her doesn't know how to read survivors or maneuver her in a way that a higher-tier Nurse would. If you're a beginner at playing as a Nurse, it'll be noticed right off the bat, and survivors already have the upper-hand.
2.) You really need to think when it comes to playing as that killer.
When playing as good ol' Sally, you need to consider the amount of thinking that goes into playing her as well; between learning how most survivors move, how to handle range and get to areas quicker, learning how to control and apply pressure, handling your character if there's perks or add-ons applied, tracking wounded survivors, etc.
There's a lot that goes into this killer.
3.) She isn't actually as powerful as people think she is.
While good Nurse players can karate chop you as soon as they see you, and that it's hard to lose a good Nurse, she can only do so much with her blinks and movement. Blinks have a fatigue time for a reason, and there's certain areas in a map that she either can't reach, has a hard time blinking onto or constantly comes in contact with when blinking, or can easily lose LOS on a survivor on. She has a bunch of counterplays that people aren't aware of. Pallets are also good against the Nurse if you're able to read the killer as well. While looping isn't technically an option against a good Nurse, you're still able to put some distance between you and her while she's getting ready to blink.
She's also able to be juked. Quite a lot, actually.
You rarely see it with good Nurses because of how well they can perform, but even a "God-tier" Nurse can have a hard time with a survivor that knows how to break her non-existent ankles.
Also, pacing of the game is incredibly important when going against a Nurse. She can either be up to speed, or falling behind depending on how quickly objectives and totems are being done. Immersion in-game is also important if you know your maps. It's all in knowing your pressure and timing. The quicker you get things done, the slower the Nurse becomes.
4.) Most of the time, her add-ons aren't as useful.
This is a big one. Yes, some can help in a chase, and some can cater to another person's playstyle depending on the Nurse, but lets be honest here;
the only incredibly useful add-ons are the ones that assist with her blinks (lower fatigue time, increased range, time between blinks, and occasionally additional blinks themselves).
Depending on who you're playing against, her add-ons can actually be her downfall, so it's good to pay attention to what she might be using. Does she have multiple blinks? Is her range a lot longer than a normal Nurse? Is her fatigue time more quicker? Does she chain-blink quicker than usual?
These are questions you have to ask yourself when playing against a Nurse. Then, you have to learn to adapt to the add-ons depending on what she has. You can come up with a lot of chase plans that are efficient if you consider the playstyle. The same can go for perks too!"

Cosmetics are optional, iridescent cosmetics exist, auric ones go one sale for shards every once in a while, and this is the way BHVR finances their game. You moaning about it on a forum post won't do anything.
basically this.
unfortunately, microtransactions will always be common in games somehow, and dead by daylight is one of them.
if you're genuinely unhappy with how cosemetics are being presented, then it's in your best interest that you don't consider getting any, period. :/

How was this abused?
Isn't it working like you click on it and if you click on it again it removes it?
Well I think a simple down/up -vote is fine sometimes when you read stuff and you do not have the time to answer in a proper way you can simply click that button instead.
it was abused in a form that it harmed a user's reputation, and in masses, could've caused a negative impact on people's ability to post. there were also users targeting others and consistently downvoting their posts. therefore, this had to be removed in order to stop this, since many people were also complaining that they were actively being watched for the sole purpose of downvoting their comments.

i have a feeling that the perk might be a bit bugged. at least when it comes to syncing.
i think the perk itself is fine, but the latency is the issue here. hopefully the new servers should fix this. :0

Something she definetly didn't need.
She was one of the most balanced killers in the game.
*sigh*
i digress. she definitely had some downsides to her. she's already slow enough as it is, and sometimes her hatchets can't exactly make up for it. it's better for her to have some sort of leverage, at least with her lullaby.
it makes more sense for it to be non-directional anyway tbh.
-
is it really so much of a bad thing to have names displayed? pardon me, for i don't know what console is truly like, but you have to consider that not everybody would agree to have this feature implemented anyway. people have other purposes for using names in-lobby. just because you're tired of seeing the same face, doesn't mean you still can't try to adapt.
-
honestly, it was for the better. people were abusing downvotes more than ever this time around, and it definitely seemed like a lot of people were banned or jailed as a result.
personally, if you were to create a better downvoting system, you should implement a "why are you downvoting/disagreeing" section after hitting the button. and if it's a troll downvote, the person can report it and submit it to the mods. it'd make it less toxic and more-so reasonable.
-
ghostface is perfectly fine, though? i don't understand.
was there something i missed? he still seems as powerful as he already is, if not, still a pretty decently built killer.
-
adding in-game comms would make killers suffer horrendously. toxicity would be poured into every single game, and strength with survivors would be way too much compared to having a mixture between a solo and a swf vs a killer.
this game was originally based around randoms against a single killer, hence why swf is even strong in the first place.
and personally, i believe that if we were to really try and have the game balanced around swf, swf would have to have some limitations in order to make it all equal.
-
it seems like they're back to normal. especially the wait times. :)

I'm pretty sure they patched the bug where you swing and the momentum is sucked into the dropped pallet.
The "feature" I am referring to is the one where she keeps floating and is allowed to continue her blink or swing despite getting stunned and the survivor being awarded for the pallet stun event.
oh, that's not the bug i'm talking about. there's a pallet stun bug that even makes the "stun" drop sound as it hits the killer, but the killer doesn't receive the penalty for being hit.
it commonly happens while picking up a survivor.
that "feature" you're describing is also another bug. it's been there ever since nurse's rework.
-
@Visionmaker said:
Her addons and pallet stun mechanic need to be adjusted.
It is ridiculous that she is the only killer in the game where you can slam a pallet on her head and she will ignore it because you didn't hit the perfect reappearance frame.
actually, there's a known glitch for all killers that sometimes they'll ignore pallet suns.
it happened with me a few games ago while playing as wraith. while yes, it needs to be readjusted, it's also a known bug.
-
i genuinely feel like dedicated servers will correct the issues for console players, because everything will be direct rather than basing off the connection of another console player.
we can only cross our fingers, though!
-
@miaasma said:
yes, looping is meant to waste the killer's time, which is why looping a nurse doesn't work, because it takes her no time to hit you
not really sure why i'm wasting my time trying to explain to somebody why nurse isn't loopable when that's literally her selling point and why people play her
also enjoying the "you just don't play her" comments when nurse was the first killer i learned and one of the killers i have the most hours on. she's busted, sorry
if you believe you're wasting your time explaining to a single person that nurse isn't loopable, i'm sorry, but i don't think this thread is for you.
you cannot generalize the fact that a factor like that is the reason why people play nurse. not everybody has the skill level of a god-tier player. some killers can be more efficient than others, i get it, but you can't tell someone who doesn't know how to handle loops well that, not everybody is perfect with avoiding a loop, even if you're a player with experience.
-
@miaasma said:

you can say this as many times as you want, but if a nurse is any good at all, attempting to loop her (not just mindlessly running around her, i mean predicting her movements) results in her hitting you. if she had one blink, she'd be loopable in this way, but she has two chances to adjust herself at a loop, which means she hits you if she's any good
and in no way am i suggesting that nurse should get one blink (if she did she'd need to at least have 110 ms if not 115), and i don't know what kinds of nurses you tend to play against, but trying to loop a good nurse is a death sentence. no amount of prediction really matters at that range
you do realize that looping is also meant to waste the killer's time and to buy time for those who are working on generators. even if it results in you getting hit, it still buys back seconds for the team to get part of the objective done.
@Ember_Hunter said:
It really makes me sad to see any killer get nerfed unless majority agrees the killer is broken. Nurse really doesn't need a nerf, just learn how to play against her.
i understand you, i'm exactly the same way with killers getting nerfed.
-
this unfortunately isn't a good idea. the reason being; it can tip off who the killer is early. this was prevented by disabling killer-related hooks early on in the development of DBD because of how people instantly knew who the killer was.
this is also a bad idea because the whole point of being a trap-based killer is to strategically place your traps when given the time for actively moving survivors. you cannot give killers this much lead-way. it's also unbalanced for the nature of the game.
-
spirit is perfectly fine as a killer. as @Bravo0413 mentioned, she's one of the few killers that turns mindgames back onto the survivor. she's decently balanced between counterplay and gameplay. people usually complain about not being able to see or hear when she's phase walking except when she's close by, which is a bit ridiculous in my opinion, considering that's the whole point of her base power in the first place; to be a spirit.
she does exceptionally well at loops, and has the ability to sneak up on survivors like no other. from what i've seen, nobody likes being forced to be immersed and prevent the spirit from sneaking up on them, though the whole point to go against a killer is to stay alive at all costs. it shouldn't be an issue.

you cannot loop a good nurse lol what
i appreciate you having a strong opinion, but remember; this is an open discussion, and i'm entitled to explaining my own thoughts to you.
a good nurse can still be looped regardless of their skill level. sure, it's difficult, but it can still be done, because juking is also incorporated into the loop itself. i'm not saying you can brain-dead loop a nurse like you would with a standard killer.

The mechanic which the Nurse breaks is the mechanic that broke the game first. This game was not designed as a loop-around-the-pallet merry-go-round exploiting an unplanned/unacknowledged differential in collision on level-geometry, where the killer can possibly be stalled in a series of extended chases for the whole match.
The devs said it themselves when infinites were the thing: Nurse was meant to make survivors less-reliant on the loops. They had accepted they had to get rid of infinites and wanted to wean survivors off of them and diversify their playstyles. Survivors wouldn't though and found pallet-loops as an alternative, after they had complained about killers out-playing them in the pallet stand-offs and wanted the pallets to be made fool-proof.
The problem is that survivors do not change how they play, they never adapt, they have developed a reasonable expectation that the devs will always come through for them. This will remain for as long as nerfs to the Nurse are even being considered and other killers are not brought up to her level of utility with an appropriate skill-ceiling.
i could've never worded this better.
-
@miaasma said:
i don't even know where to begin with that so i'm just going to leave it
no survivor mechanic breaks the game the way nurse does
the thing is, you're claiming that most survivor mechanics are ignored when a nurse is in-game, though that's not entirely true. you can still loop a nurse, and you can still break LOS and avoid her if you know what you're doing.
-
you have to consider how you plan to use ruin, though. if you're fully dependent on it, yes, it can be redundant because of how quickly the totem can be cleansed.
but if you plan to use it to slow down generator progression or to force survivors to look for it to reduce team efficiency/separate others from the group, it can be quite useful during the time its up.

revive!!!

nurse is perfectly fine. her add-ons do need work, but devs are already going over them.

doctor is fine to me! i'm honestly kind of sad that i don't play against him as much as i do with other killers. i suppose he dropped in popularity a bit?

only true gamers will remember the PS1 version of dead by daylight.

and what about situations where I do get tunneled off hook but I play well enough to not get downed within 60 seconds? in getting tunneled but my "anti-tunnel perk" isn't helping me. there are issues for both sides, I'd prefer to just leave it as is
or, give decisive strike a rework in general.
it could be one to mess with the wiggle timer instead of straight up leaving the killer's grasp.

maybe searching for an item and picking it up to be able to do generators?
and if a survivor that's holding the item gets downed, they drop it, and generators get blocked until its picked up again.

Cycle of vengeance. Someone set out to do something fun or horrible which left the enemy player feeling cheated and angry so they used powerful broken combos and act like toxic bellends to feel better about losing. Resulting in the new opposing opponet feeling a similar way so they did the same thing. Bad youtube and twitch personalities often escalate this sentiment by setting a pior example till you have a large amount of bad aittudes inspiring others to act similarly.
^ this.

it's situational at this point. if you have a decent opening, i guess you should use self-care.
but if you're in a pinch? bond or pharmacy works best.
