  • Yamoaka, Stranger Things map, Saw map & Lery's.

  • As a Survivor, I would like more perks that give bonus Bloodpoints, similar to We're Gonna Live Forever. However, maybe for Objective or Survival instead of for Altruism. I like trying to "farm" tokens to reward me at the end of the game. I know that there's Prove Thyself for gen coop but I was thinking something more... selfish.

As Killer, I maintain that a Phantasm DLC would be great in DBD. Tall Man as the Killer. Mausoleum as the map. Reggie as the Survivor. Flying Sphere of Death as the Mori.

  • Give the Chainsaw a cooldown & make it so he can't run forever. Just like Oni.

I can't speak for add-ons because it depends on what the devs want Billy's identity to be.

  • This is because by its very nature, DBD can not be balanced.

It's a 4v1 asymmetrical game. It will never be balanced. Not to mention there's new DLC every three months - adding new perks on both sides, a new killer & a new map. So even if it felt in a pretty good place, it would all be thrown out of whack again in three months.

What even would be considered balanced in this game? You can't define it, really. You can't have the killers getting 4k every game. You can't have all four survivors surviving everygame. You can't balance for just red ranks. You can't balance for just new players.

So I think it's in a pretty good place as in. People will always complain, no matter what. 100%.

A Small price to pay. Games crash, It happens but not so regularly that this should be a problem. It's a once of thing, I'd rather on the very slight occasion have this happen then go back to the DC epidemic.

but the d/c penalty didn't really change anything. It just punishes people who crash. Because the people that want to d/c will either still d/c or just run to the killer to get downed & give up on first hook.

I mean, I guess the killer gets more points that way... but it doesn't help survivors any.

  • Oof. Well, that's disappointing. Pretty much guarantees another week of bad queue times.

  • Hillbilly, Huntress & Spirit.

  • It ain't even the matchmaking that's ruining games for me. Even red rank survivors constantly give up on first hook or d/c - even with the penalty. I've played about a dozen games today... and I would say in nine of them someone quit.

  • I would rather get lobbies with lower ranked teammates if the alternative is eight minute queue times.

The waiting for the lobby takes longer than half the games.

I just want to play. I don't care what rank anyone is.

  • But where's Dhalism!?

  • I wish there was a way to put your rank on hold. I do not want to climb to red rank anymore. It's straight-up not fun. If I hit red ranks, I purposely depip from then on so that I can get back to purple. The queues are faster & the games are more fun.

I've never played a game before in my life where there was a ranking system & I wanted to rank DOWN instead of up. If that doesn't sum up how broken the crap is, nothing does.

  • Some days I don't feel like logging in at all.

Not because of any real in-game issues, just because I don't feel like playing. For whatever reason, just not in the mood.

When those days become more often, to the point where I'm not playing more than playing, I'll probably stop. Right now, logging in feels like a big time investment. I don't log in & play a game or two & then log out. I load the game & then spend multiple hours on it. Grinding out Bloodpoints.

That doesn't feel like it is anywhere on the near horizon, mind you. I just recently got a real life friend to start playing & it has rejuvenated some of the fun in the game for me. I'm also looking forward to the new DLC & Chapter IV of the Tome coming out.

When the game starts to feel like work, I'll walk away.

  • One thing that is often overlooked is that most of the time, depipping is a GOOD thing. Because ranking up in this game usually leads to worse/less fun games the higher you climb. And often, longer queue times as well. Red Rank survivor is awful. So killing yourself or the old disconnect - there was literally no penalty for doing so. Oh no, I deranked & didn't score any points in the game where I ran the killer for the first two minutes & all three of my teammates are ducked behind a tree... whatever will I do?

Go to the next damn game & hope for better randoms & more points, that's what.

Killer you don't want to play against? Map you don't want to play on? Terrible teammates? There's a lot of reasons to dip sesh & hit the random queue RNG button again. I don't want to play on Lery's, Meat Plant or Hawkins. I don't want to play against Huntress or Hillbilly. I don't want teammates that refuse to work on gens. So they add a D/C penalty, I'll find different ways to leave the game. Otherwise you're just in a game you're not enjoying for 10 minutes to get a black pip & very little points. That's 10 minutes that you could have joined a different lobby with different people & be having a better gaming experience already.

Is it selfish? For sure. But it's not like there's a lot of people in this community looking out for others or trying to make best buddies with strangers.

  • I'm going to pluralize it: my biggest current issue(s) with DBD -

    1. The Toxicity of the Community. Overly negative, never happy, constantly pessimistic vocal minority. Both in-game & out. Just read this forum once or search the #DeadByDaylight tag on Twitter to see what I mean, let alone trying to read any end game chat.
    2. Match making, the ranking system & the entire abomination that is the emblem system. This is part of the reason I feel that so many people try to take this game way too seriously. You're not going pro at DBD. You being red rank means nothing. Depipping in a game where if feels like you're playing by yourself is also ridiculous. It's just broken all around.

All the complaints about Killers being bottom tier & maps being unfair & second-chance perks being too strong, etc. I think all of that nonsense goes away if people don't have a rank or have to worry about ranking up/down or getting weird matchmaking. It's an asymmetrical 4v1 horror game & people are trying to fairly balance it. That's never going to happen.

  • Maybe once for the Steam achievements - if you're playing on P.C. Outside of that, not really. The games, in my opinion, are actually less fun in red ranks than in say, purple or so.

I feel like the sweet spot is rank 7-9 or so. Teammates mostly know what they're doing as Survivor but I don't feel like people are taking things overly seriously like they think they can go pro at DBD or something.

That is, of course, if the matchmaking isn't wonky. Which lately, welp. Makes it so you can't even talk about the Killer side of things because it never matches you fairly against Survivors as Killer right now. You can be a red rank killer & go against rank 15 Survivors. It's really messed up.

  • Hag, 100%.

I don't think she's top tier but she's better than low tier, for sure. Completely changes the way Survivors have to play the game, too, which I'm a big fan of.

  • Because not everyone shares your opinions. Simple.

  • Play on P.C. Keep chat turned off. Problem solved.

  • Why even make a thread if you spend the entire OP just trying to stifle discussion? There's no conversation to be had here.

  • I never open the chat or care to read what anyone has to say in post game. I can just avoid it entirely, so I just keep the chat closed. You avoid a lot of negativity that way. It can also stop you from writing your own salty retorts.

The streamers that sit there & spend five minutes after every single game to write out long diatribes confuse the heck out of me.

  • Lately it has been window vaulting. Blame it on the dedicated servers, or the killers lunge or whatever... but 9/10, windows just seem to be a free hit anymore. Basically makes Lithe crap too.

  • Map size, gen speed, timer on DS, Hillbilly, SWF.

  • I don't like Hillbilly. More recently, Ghost Face or Oni.

I love playing against new Doctor & Hag. Wraith can be fun. Hag is my favorite to go against though. I wish more people played her because she really switches up the playstyle of the game which can help break up the monotony of a gaming session.

Now, PTB Doctor that will be live in a couple weeks, jury is still out there for me.

Honestly, I dislike playing against one-shots. It feels like a crutch that the devs are really starting to lean on too much. Even if a Killer doesn't have a one-shot mechanic, it doesn't mean they don't have the ability via add-ons/Perks. Is there anything worse than someone popping a Haunting Grounds while you're already mid-chase so you get one shot?

I hate The Huntress. Probably my most hated killer because it feels like you can't do anything if you're playing against a good one. Can't window, can't pallet, can't loop. Oh, you think you can dodge a hatchet but your hit box becomes the size of a fridge or you get the infamous dedicated server~!

Mostly though, it is more about the person you're playing against than what killer they're using. If they're like Rank 10 and trying to slug for a 4k & making the last person sit on the ground while they search for the hatch - yeah, I just never want to play against that person because I feel like they're wasting my time. That's time I could be in a new lobby earning more Bloodpoints already. GOTTA PLAY AROUND THE DS & 4K! No, no you don't. It ain't that serious, dawg.

y'all muricans or what? You don't know what a meter is?

I know what a meter is. It doesn't list measurements in game - hence the thread. It literally just says "fall from a great height." I WANT it to tell me in meters.

Also, numbers in general would be nice. Like when a Toolbox says "tremendously" instead of giving tangible numbers. These adjectives for descriptions are worthless.

  • @Aneurysm said:

I got it without falling from anywhere that high, I think it just needs to be high enough to trigger balanced landing

This isn't true. I fell off a hill which triggers BL & it didn't work. Fell off the side of the tractor while in chase too & also didn't work. So I think it has to be at least as tall as the top part of the tractor? Really don't know why the hill didn't work - I assumed if BL triggered it would work too. Otherwise I never use that Perk. :D

  • It makes me sad to see people refer to the new killer as bland when he's so fun to play with.

When did having fun stop mattering & trying to win become the only goal? What a boring way to play.

It's a game. Games are supposed to be fun. Have fun!

  • It certainly makes Lithe worse too. I don't know if it's because of Dedicated Servers or what, but Windows are basically a free hit at this point.

  • The "checking your browser" crap before visiting the new forum. Also sucks.

  • It most definitely feels lazy, that's for sure.

  • To me, people defending Hillbilly's game design just shows how many people don't know what they're talking about.

I mean, they can disagree with me - they're wrong - but they can disagree with me. So their opinions mean less than nothing to me.

The devs will eventually nerf him because he's not in-line with the other characters & I'll just be able to sit here thinking "told ya so" while they then go on to defend something else & pretend like they never was behind Hillbilly in the first place.

You can't give every killer cooldowns on their abilities except one & then say that one is fine. Either everyone is worked the same way, or none of them are.

Honestly, it doesn't have to go beyond comparing Oni to Hillbilly. That sums it up right there. Hillbilly always has a one shot. Oni has to collect blood to build to his & it's limited. Hillbilly can run forever, Oni can't. How is it still a debate?

  • Anyone that tries to defend Hillbilly not needing nerfed with one side of their mouth while acting like other killers need nerfs is a hypocrite.

Billy's tuning doesn't make any sense compared to the other killers.

He can run forever. He can chainsaw forever. He has no freakin' cooldowns.

None of it makes sense. It's like if Nurse could blink forever without getting stunned after them or Huntress never needing to reload her Hatchets. Or the new killer not having to reload. Or Oni not needing blood to power-up.

He's ridiculously OP & not at all in line with the other killers in the game.

He doesn't make sense from their own design standpoint.

Where are the negatives that negate his positives? He always has a 1-shot down. He can run forever across the entire map. He literally has no weaknesses, it's stupid.

Stop trying to defend him because you like him. From a DESIGN standpoint, he's broken.

  • One day of PTB & my man is already trying to declare Deathslinger worst in the game.

    ROFLMFAO.

    Few games of killer tonight.

-1st survivor suicides on 1st hook, so next suicides on 1st hook. Happened multiple games.

Meanwhille the 2 survivors left and the killer get stuck in a boring game they don't want to play and have to see it through until the end.

So the people disconnecting get their escape, probably don't suffer too much of a penalty compared to others since the last few left in the game will be stuck there for another few minutes anyway. If they get a longer timer after multiple disconnects they turn the game off and play something else for a bit. Meanwhile everyone in the game who is a victim of these people have to suck it up.

This system punishes everyone else more than it punishes those that disconnect. Best job ever so far.

And it's going to keep happening as long as the stupid d/c penalty is there.

I get camped? I'm quitting. I get tunneled? I'm quitting. I loop the killer for two minutes while my teammates sit around with a thumb up their asses & don't do a single generator? I'm quitting. Same killer three games in a row? I'm out. Terrible map against a killer I hate? I'm out.

Sorry, but I played for Bloodpoints since the rank doesn't mean anything. So I can leave, queue again & get into a new game in the time it takes that one to finish.

Sorry, not sorry. Video games are supposed to be fun. If I'm not having fun, I'm leaving.

  • Honestly, if they just change his walking speed, that alone would make him pretty good. Right now, he's so slow, he's pretty easy to loop. Like, he can't hookshot you through a rock. So you just run around a safe pallet all day & if he misses once, he then has to reload & it's a disaster.

  • @KornySon10 said:

Huntress can't pull someone off a haddonfield balcony ledge

Or grab someone camping the exit gates :D

  • Why in an M-rated game, which focuses on literally murdering people, do they censor words on the message forum of that game.

    Some answers we'll never know.

Makes me think about the Apocalypse Now speech about dropping napalm on people...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb1lF3UKLDQ

  • Just equip the quest & then play normally. Stop thinking about it so much. You don't have to do them as fast as possible, you do them naturally just from playing. Don't try to do three to four a game - just play like you normally do & you'll finish it just from playing normal games.

  • To the jabrone above me: 100% false.

Balancing for top level play is how you kill games. You make the entry barrier for new players too high, so they don't have fun when they start.

No new players = your game dies.

  • Objectively speaking, Billy's build doesn't make sense within the confines of the game compared to how they have made everyone else. He has a one shot down mechanic, can cover the entirety of the map without any sort of cooldown & doesn't require anything to build-up his chainsaw, nor has any sort of downtime between the saws.

Oni has to collect blood & can't run forever. The new Gunslinger has to reload.

It doesn't make sense within their own game.

So just by the definition of how he doesn't have those weaknesses & the other killers do, he will always be better than them.

  • I'm sure this has already been pointed out because the thread is four pages long, but I'm not going to read every reply so I'll say it probably again: I like the upcoming Plague changes for one important reason - I play solo queue & I don't feel like I should be punished as a player because I get random teammates that don't know how to play against The Plague.

Sure, you shouldn't cleanse against her because that keeps her weak. But guess what? One clueless teammate & suddenly your entire team gets thrown under the bus.

So now due to her always being able to corrupt her blood, you don't get punished for having a bad teammates. She can always just get the projectile vomit to spew on you & hit you.

Which, yeah, it's a buff & will make her more annoying... but I prefer that over getting mad at my teammates & yelling "Why the Hell are you cleansing!" when playing solo queue...

  • Naw, it's not just you. It's SUPER dark. Easily the darkest map in the game. It's gotta be a visual bug or something. You can't even see your own character.

  • What isn't ridiculously OP with SWF? SWF is ridiculously OP. You can't balance around that.

  • I think the killer will be fun, ultimately. And that's what matters in a video game. I think sometimes people lose sight of that.

Every killer with a good player behind them is scary. Derp.

Every killer with a bad player behind them is trash. Derp.

  • It literally does. You look down the rifle and you use the literal sight on the end of the gun. Like a real gun.

Its like huntress, you can dodge.

Dbd is in a weird state right now, with the current meta. Noed is a must for certain killers, Freddy/nurse/spirit/Billy are the only ones that stand a chance against good survivors, swf are on their peak now that ruin got ruined, half the community is still furious with the devs ECT. This is one of the lowest points in the dbd history. I genuinely believe that playing killer, even in green ranks, is the most stressful thing in dbd, at least imo.

How about you? Do you agree? Let me know down below.

No, I don't agree at all. Complete other end of the spectrum, actually. I mean, I get that most people are pessimistic & negative in general online, but I think DBD is in a really good state right now. My biggest issue is with dedicated servers. Other than that, the in-game state is light years ahead of where it has been in the past.

People will always complain but it's important to remember where we came from. When there were literal infinite loops & you could do nothing about them. No bloodlust & everything else.

  • Anyone ever seen the movie House 2? Because The Gunslinger in Dead by Daylight looks identical to the bad guy in that movie.
