  • It's killing the game. Top streamers are playing other games. 30-day average is down over 3,000 players on Steam according to Steamcharts.. You can't just say "well, give it a month" because people just won't keep up w/ the crap for that long.

  • Not only the MMR, but now I play a game & at the end it gives me some failed to save error... and it doesn't give me the Bloodpoints I earned in the trial by Escaping with max unhooks, using an offering and 4x stacks on WGLF.

Nothing has ever made me logout faster.

If I can't earn BP I'm def. not playing.

  • Killer: Corrupt, Pop, Sloppy, BBQ

Survivor: Inner Strength, We're Gonna Live Forever, Kindred, Borrowed Time

  • They broke their own matchmaking system. Sorry, friend.

  • On Killer, it's easily BBQ & Chili. For Survivor, either We're Gonna Live Forever (what can I say, I love Bloodpoints) or Inner Strength. Although Borrowed Time is the one I never take off. Especially since I run WGLF so much.

  • The Tall Man from Phantasm. The flying ball of death can be his Mori. His big backhand can be his M1. The funeral parlor/home can be the map. Or if we're tired of inside maps, do the graveyard outside of it. Reggie being the Survivor.

  • Without this team you would not have a Dead By Daylight game at all & the game wouldn't exist for you to play & complain about. Think about that instead.

  • I've certainly changed my tune from yesterday in trying to defend it. In back-to-back games, I just played against a Rank 1 Killer and then a Rank 20 with 1 perk Killer.

I mean, it doesn't get any more wrong than that...

Also, the queue times, especially at night, take even longer. I don't get off work until 3 AM. It's basically impossible for me to play Killer anymore as the queues take so long that I lose interest & do something else.

  • Ghostface & Huntress. I can tolerate everyone else. I actively enjoy playing against Pig.

  • My biggest issue thus far hasn't been the quality of the people, it's been that the queues are LONGER not shorter.

  • My objective is usually to try to get four stacks of WGLF, get as many BP as possible & finish any quests - tome or daily - that I have. Surviving comes second to all of that, despite getting the 5k for leaving.

So for me, the rank of my teammates & whatnot doesn't matter. So maybe that's why the new MMR system isn't a big deal to me. I just don't care. I am playing the same pretty much every game anyway. Find a totem to break to turn on my Inner Strength. Or find any Hex totems if there is on. Get my stacks. Do the gens.

If I die, whomp, queue again, try again. It's not that big of a deal. Second game of the day today I got killed with a Mori. Who cares? Just queue again. What am I going to downrank? Again, doesn't matter... who cares?

BP farming simulator. Just focus on getting BP.

I play nothing but Solo and I haven't noticed anything off or broken about it. Did I miss something?

Yeah, I don't know either. I played solo queue all day today & was enjoying myself. I always play solo queue though, so maybe I'm just used to it? I actually thought the majority of my games today were really good. On both sides. *shrug*

  • Fine to be honest. I think too many people are still focusing on the actual rank number on the lobby screen instead of how the people are actually playing during the trial.

  • Honestly, most people that 99% the door don't even know why they're doing it. They just do it because they saw other people do it.

  • So far, it feels like it reset everyone back to the beginning of MMR again but they kept their previous rank. That's how it feels to me. Like, the longer you play throughout the day, as you rack up more kills/wins, it feels like you get better teammates/killers.

The ranks should be eliminated entirely at this point as too few people are capable of looking beyond the number on the screen. Yes, that includes Red Rank survivors that rage at the end game chat while they green rank person they're trying to dump on doubled their score.

  • ######### is wrong w/ the Minotaur skin? That's the best skin they've ever made...

  • Better idea: remove d/c penalties & replace disconnects with bots.

    Here's to hoping.

  • Jesus, you're really willing to die on that hill when you're 100% wrong? People on the internet astonish me.

  • D/C penalty has to exist because otherwise, people will quit & the Killer won't get any points. Killing yourself on first hook gives them sacrifice points and hook points & hit points & whatnot.

Like if there's no d/c penalty, I'm leaving 100% of games against Huntress or Ghostface. It's just not happening.

  • It is a great skin. Best in the game so far, IMO.

  • Honestly, I hope they add the bots to all platforms, remove the d/c penalty & just replace disconnected players with bots.

Will the bots be good? Naw, but they'll still be better than a disconnect... and honestly, probably better than a good amount of solo queue teammates you randomly get as well. At least a bot will work on gens & go for saves.

The d/c penalty isn't really a solution because if someone doesn't want to play, you can't force them to. They'll still quit. The consequences don't really matter at that point, as it's a heat of the moment decision. And if there's a workaround, like just running to the killer & giving up on first hook, they can do that too as a way to bypass the system implemented.

  • The thing that would drive me bonkers, the reason for the majority of my d/c's, is when a Killer would slug me, especially early on. Like, I'm not just going to sit there & not play for three minutes or whatever it is. I can just get into a new game.

D/C penalty doesn't solve that. In fact, when there is a penalty for d/c, it seems killers slug more often, if anything.

  • I like Bronx & Umbra. Marth occasionally as well, when his schedule allows for him to stream. I like the more down-to-earth streamers. The ones that don't always feel like they're acting for the camera, or flipping out & raging over every little thing. Seeing grown adults act like that is embarrassing & helps continue to foster the negative stigma that video games and streaming have.

I work over nights though, so there's not a lot of viewing options for DBD on my schedule when I can watch.

  • I like the idea of different killers having their own MMR queues. So people that play just one or a couple killers can climb with that killer & when they want to try a different one, they won't get punished against a super tough survivor squad.

I'm fine with the change. This way, a person has to decide whom they're playing as before hitting the search/ready button.

  • Agree to disagree.

  • "[Hillbilly] wasn't even one of the more powerful high tier killers to begin with."

"I only ever faced, or used Freddy, Hillbilly, Spirit, Nurse, and Huntress"

    ???

  • They look pretty bad.

As does the new unhook animation when you try to jump off. Just awkward.

  • The only reason I got the crown during the event was because I assumed you could wear it on any headpiece. I had no idea it was its own separate head. When I unlocked the first one & saw that you couldn't put it on any head you wanted, I didn't bother to get any more.

  • I think part of the issue is simply Killers feel like they have to get four kills every game or they failed & Survivors feel like they have to escape or they failed.

    It's really just a mentality. Like, if I don't de-pip, I feel I did fine. That's both sides.

To me at this point this game is just a Bloodpoint farming simulator. It's never going to be balanced. It's never going to be competitive. And its never tried to be.

  • It depends. As long as you're OK with the realization that one day the servers go down & everything you spent money on will be gone forever. There's nothing tangible about pixels. You don't own physical copies of anything. I found this out the hard way with Marvel Heroes when they shut those servers down. So think of it more as paying for entertainment hours, like going to the movie theater.

  • People put too much emphasis on individual pallets. I see a lot of people, especially killer main streamers, they constantly say "they wasted the pallet."

If they got away or didn't get hit, they didn't "waste" the pallet. That's the entire reason the pallets are there. Yes, that includes shack pallet.

  • The issue isn't the game. The issue is internet anonymity & a lack of meaningful consequences. It's the same reason you see so many trolls on social media. People do things online that they rarely, if ever, would do in real life... because there would be actual consequences.

Same reason why people throw a fit in public if someone pulls out their phone & starts recording them. Because suddenly them acting like a brat might wind up with them losing their job or what not.

This isn't a subject that's a whataboutism. What about Counterstrike? What about League of Legends? What about X? We're not trying to measure how much of an a-hole the average person is in varying different communities. The common denominator is they're all internet based mediums.

  • I actually like the bot idea. Like, yeah, the bots will be terrible... but at least the bot would try to do objectives instead of just giving up on hook if they bring back a d/c penalty. Hell, a bot working on a gen is better than half the potatoes you get as teammates at red rank in solo queue.

  • If anything, he could use a buff...

  • I was someone that felt that Hillbilly needed to be brought into line with other killers. It didn't make sense to me, in example, for his abilities to be better than Oni, whom had a dash bar that he had to build up to get - which allowed him to 1-shot down people. Meanwhile, Billy could run forever & not have to build it up first. I did think Hillbilly needed changed. Because it would be easier to bring him down than to bring everyone else up.

I just don't agree with how they changed him. I feel like this instead will just make killers avoid selecting him entirely.

  • I would be all for removing ranks entirely. Along with the Emblem system that goes along with it. We shouldn't be hardcapped at the Bloodpoints we can get per trial either. Nor should there be a BP cap at all.

Everything is such a grind, I don't know why it feels like they're so stingy with giving out points on things.

  • I'm prepared for every game to not be Hillbilly, Huntress or Spirit for awhile. Will be nice.

  • As a solo queue Survivor, one common truth I have found is that Red Rank teammates are always worse than purple or green rank teammates.

I don't know why but after hundreds of hours, that's been my experience. I don't know if they're just trying to meme or what but inevitably they do everything in their power to not ever work or gens or try to escape.

Or maybe, if they're anything like me, once they hit red ranks, they purposely try to de-pip because Red Ranks are less fun.

The entire matchmaking & ranking system as a whole is awful.

  • It's a video game, dawg. In the grand scheme of things, unless it's providing you income like a top streamer like AngryPug, they're all meaningless. Just an amusing way to kill some time.

Just play for fun. If you're not having fun, play something else or do something else. Don't overthink it.

  • He's OP when compared to the other killers. So maybe they're just all really undertuned?

But like, look at Oni. Oni is a super strong killer that can snowball. But he has to collect blood to gain the sprint & the 1-shot. Hillbilly... always has sprint & 1-shot. And doesn't have a bar for his run either.

That's the difference to me. Billy has base kit abilities that other killers have to power up but he doesn't. By definition, that makes him better than them.

  • Inner Strength + Detective's Hunch and Borrowed Time + We're Gonna Live Forever are my two favorite "combos" right now.

  • It's not exclusive to Dead by Daylight. All video games have a shelf life. If you're not having fun anymore, there's nothing wrong with walking away from it & taking a break. There's a lot of games out there that are super fun.

I loved Stardew Valley, Hearthstone & Graveyard Keeper... but eventually, I stopped having fun with them in-game, so I walked away from them. I might return later, or they might get more content, so I could go back. But for right now, I play other stuff.

If DBD ever gets to the point where I am not having fun with it, I'll take a break. Everyone else should do the same.

Don't fall into the sunken cost fallacy - either with money or time. If you stop having fun, it's fine to take a break for awhile. Or for good.

  • Right now, I'm digging Detective's Hunch, Inner Strength, We're Gonna Live Forever & Borrowed Time.

Hunch is great to find Totems for Inner Strength but at this point, I have most Totem spawns memorized, so I switch it out for Kindred a lot.

BT is pretty meta but it's a good tool to ensure the stacks on WGLF.

I like avoiding the more meta perks outside of that though. I don't run an Exhaustion perk or DS or Adrenaline. Just too situational for me.

Sounds like it will be a fun week. some people have been dc'ing while in the loading screen if there is a mori just to avoid it because you don't get the dc penalty if you leave that early. with that challenge, i wonder how fast dc'ing in the loading screen will catch on.

and the tunneling and camping is about to get way worse if thats even possible.

People fighting for Fastest Alt+F4 in the West.

  • I don't think we need the D/C penalty. I don't like the dedicated server change & it just feels like you're constantly getting hit by shots that look like they shouldn't be connecting. I wish they would remove the rank system entirely.

  • Agree.

It really only punishes killers that are getting trolled & people that crash.

  • Don't forget that you can also wait for the killer to kick the hatch closed during the End Game Collapse & then re-open it with the key. Usually they'll head to one of the exit doors immediately after kicking it closed, so you'll get a free hatch.
