I know I'm going to sound like a broken record but the thing is... We already have The Plague.
Well no, the plague's niche is her snowball with corrupt purge, and the keeping survivors injured thing isn't really her main showcase. Trickster is just easier huntress but missing a lot of parts, which is really his own niche. No other killer can spread out their hits; you either hit them, or you don't. With trickster, you can build up 1/8th of a hit, but they make it too hard to get hits.

Perk is still doing what was intended to do from the start lol, stop whining.
From the start, it was a free getaway at any time. It wasn't even remotely related to anti-tunnel capacities until the last change, when they added the 60 seconds after unhooking requirement.
-
It's probably a bug, or a perception due to the built-in windstorm adding an uncloak penalty.

So wait im confused... he moves slower while uncloaking but the lunge is the same? Because the lunge always scaled based on how fast he moved while cloaked.
They changed that in patch 2.2.0, last I checked. Now, it's either you lunge at normal speed/range or faster.

Ah shouldn't be too hard to get the hang of him 😂 he doesn't do anything but throw 60 knives and can't keep to the chases! He literally had no skill!!
I'm literally saying that you don't know how much skill he takes and how well he does in chase until the fog clears and we can see how he turns out. People here have no goddamn patience.

They've basically run out of ideas as to how make killers after seriously botching two chapters in a row.
I don't think it's that they've run out of ideas, I could pull 50 out of a hat, it's just that they haven't pulled out the great ones. It's all just up to RNGesus to see what the development team decides on.

"midsized company"
that earns millions and that easily gets extremely famous licenses.
With the amount of cashgrabs they've put in the game since 2019, they must deliver the best content possible yet they ######### their pants with every chapter release.
Also, covid isn't an excuse. There's a vaccine and the threat is gone.
Do you know how much EA makes? 5.5 billions. It's all in being relative. Plus, most of that money goes to operating costs. Video game companies have notoriously thin profit margins. And the only reason they get famous licenses is because they got one famous license, and the spiral down fame road happened from there. That speaks to DBD's success, not the company itself.
BHVR is a company. The point of companies is to make money. Literally everything any company does is a cashgrab. They have no obligation to make art, they have no obligation to satisfy their community, they just exist to make money. That's capitalism.
And no, COVID is very much not gone. Montreal is still very much in a lockdown state, and even a vaccine (which means nothing unless you can get distribution chugging along), won't save you if the strain is allowed to modify itself.
-
I play Spirit regularly so I can't relate.
-
The thought process was that he would be easier than huntress. He doesn't have to make one clean shot, he can spread out the pain over 8 clean shots. Of course, they overdid it and made it too spread out.

He's a dev, perhaps he echoes sentiments held by other people in the company, about something that came years later than it should have. Just a perhaps though.
Not necessarily. BHVR is just a very esoteric company that doesn't release much about its inner musings. It's the unfortunate truth that BHVR isn't the best at PR, and who could blame them when they aren't even public?

From my experience playing against trickster he isn’t even fun to fight against.
- He has no way to pressure the map and create interaction
- He has a lot of blades so making him miss doesn’t feel satisfying like huntress or slinger
- His small and quiet terror radius make him feel like a pseudo stealth killer when he shouldn’t be
- He doesn’t seem to have much of a skill ceiling excluding his ricochet addon
He falls into a lot of the same categories as deathslinger does in terms of facing him. Why can’t we have more mobility based killers instead of 110% no pressure ones?
Dear lord, he is nowhere near deathslinger. I played against deathslinger like once, but I can guarantee you that trickster is infinitely better than deathslinger, to play against.

Saw this tweet from Farmer John, and it just makes me feel very irritated with the company of BHVR. This new chapter with the new killer in the Trickster is by far the WORST to have ever been made, and once again we all just wasted our times trying to tell BHVR that Trickster was just outright god awful. They basically ignored all that feedback that was given, and basically stuck the middle finger in the air to all of our faces. We have all spent quite a bit of money on this game, but when you realize the product is getting terrible why would you bother throwing your money back at it? Because BHVR basically summoned their pot of greed cards, and said we're gonna make this killer as bad as we like it and will not care what the player base thinks. So next time guys lesson learned don't bother giving your feedback for the next killer rework, or for the new killer who comes during the anniversary. I've given BHVR so many second chances because at times I feel like they can write the wrong, but I feel like I reached the limit of second chances. You basically put out a killer on the live version, who sucks at pretty much everything and expect people to waste their money on that!? Also to the people who defend the decisions of BHVR it's time for you to open your eyes, stand up, listen well, and realize that you're being used for money. I gladly kept my expectations low for Trickster buffs, cause I knew to not put my trust in a team who still can't even give their own poster boy three traps at base to start for almost five years. Like I want to like DBD because it's such a fun unique game, but it sadly will be held back from company greed as well as boneheaded decisions. I've given the game three strikes if it were to continue to disappoint, and well it might just seem like I need to just quit this game for good. Strike one was the 2020 Budget Decrease Halloween Event, strike two was the Binding of Kin chapter, and strike three is the laziest excuse from someone who was to lazy to fix a killer that already was bad as is and ended up getting nerfed on release.. I'm just left with disappointment, but I need to do my part and just stop playing DBD. I can't keep waiting for BHVR to catch up on what balance actually means in a video game, and feel like a rock will be lifted off my back once I hit the delete on DBD. Might take a break from here on the forums as well, but will be keeping my eyes open to see what's up. I've had great times with the game, but sadly BHVR caused me to stop playing it. Wish the best of luck to the people who keep playing DBD, but I want to move onto better games as well as newer games. My voice may not matter to the devs, but I know it will matter some place else that isn't DBD. Have fun gamers!
Add a TL;DR.
The point is that BHVR has no dedicated methods of communicating with its player base. Even fog whisperers are often wrong. There's just absolutely no way that they can really tell what the community's opinion actually is, because there's no way to assess the entire community. Something like DS was inevitable, because that was just omnipresent, but not many people actually played the PTB, and not many people complained that loudly.

Well he's on the game design team, which means that *insert drumroll* he's not involved in colorblind mode compatibility. And yet again, he's one dev.

Some complaints are an overreaction but when 99.9% of the community was in agreement that Trickster had some severe issues on the ptb then maybe it's a good idea to acknowledge that there are some serious problems with this killer. Normally it's 50/50 with killers saying underpowered, survivors saying overpowered, but with Trickster even the survivors are feeling sorry for this guy.
They absolutely could have buffed him there's no time crunch issue there it was an intentional decision to release him in this state.
The issue is that the community isn't the best indicator of what's right. I don't dare to think of community designed DBD. Plus, it's not like there are established modes of communication to accurate reflect what the community wants.
They already had to delay him by a week. They clearly were having issues with timing, and just said screw it, let's just fix the game-breaking bugs and we can worry about the actual buffs later.
-
Probably legal reasons. It's a video game, so death threats and the such are going to be common, both of which BHVR can be legally held liable for if they don't take steps to restrict it.
-
I don't think DS has caused the surge, it's just that, like it or not, tunneling works. Even with a 5 second stun, tunneling works.

Last I saw they have over 500 employees, they are not a “mid-size” studio they are a very large studio. Plus a lot of these changes aren’t things that take tons of work. How much work do you think it takes to add traps to a Trapper at the start of a match? To tweak gen times? To make Trickster require one or two less knives to injure? It’s just adjusting numbers and then testing for balance, shouldn’t take months but with BHVR it does.
You can claim the DbD team might be small but they are a huge dev company. Whatever the case it seems upper management is fine with moving content at a snails pace, except of course cosmetics which come out all the time it seems.
Over 500 employees is not "very large." They're still a private company, and not all of those employees are even dedicated to building the game. EA has around 10,000, for comparison.
The reason they can't add these things willy-nilly is because of a structural bureaucracy, and because they really don't know if they should. Sure, I think I would play trapper if he started with all of his traps, but that's just me. There's no way to tell, reliably, if they should or shouldn't. Obviously, there's some fear of upsetting the community too, just because of how *insert expletive* this community is, so they stick with the status quo, the easier option. Trapper isn't exactly broken, he's just weak, and from BHVR's perspective, it's better to leave him as he is then it is to make an update which would potentially upset people.
Testing for balance is more difficult then you presume. They're on a rigid schedule, which means that, even with testing, they don't have the time to trickle through the bureaucracy and make it into the actual game. It all takes time; BHVR has limited resources, just like everybody else.
By "upper management," I assume you mean the game design team. Cosmetics are probably handled by a separate branch. Graphic design just needs to be designed and implemented, no complicated game theory or intricate programming required. The game design process is much more *insert comical industrial noise.*

You do know the game is about 80% if not more survivors due to queue times being so long for survivors I'm thinking killers are 5-10% at best.
There is also a tonne of nerf tunneling, noed, camping and a tonne of other things.
Most of this is probably survivors.
Well the mods haven't exactly released stats so I wouldn't be so confident about that.
-
Unfortunately no, here in page 32 of the codex of random entitled phrases and tired platitudes, by Mr. Any-idiot-on-the-web-who-didn't-go-to-college, it says that "DS+Unbreakable is against the law and will be punished by toxic endgame chat, you baby survivor hard carry ez perk no skill noob."
In all seriousness, it wasn't that toxic in the first place. The only people who were complaining about it were people who expressly tunneled, whether inadvertent or not. Sometimes, I find a guy who you just happened to have unhooked, and I really don't want to tunnel them, but I can't just let them go, but obviously that wouldn't be a great usage of your time. Even then, it's just one survivor who I can't chase at the moment, and even if I down them, it's still stalling them out. Force them to get rid of their unbreakable token early.
-
Just increase the evader category's bloodpoint cap and we've got a party.

Survivors who occupy killers well already are rewarded.

- Bold points if they're using the right items/obstacles
- But the most important reward - they tilt the killer and increase their teams chances of winning
And also increase their chance of being camped and dying.
-
Well it is a business, so their whole point is to make money.
The reason he was released the way he is is probably just because they ran out of time, with the three-month release schedule. They'll change him eventually, whenever they have more spare time on their hands.

You can play Home Sweet Home Survive instead of dbd. I left dbd 1 month ago too from the same reasons. The game it’s broken from so many nerfs and it’s favorising the killers. Devs only listen to this killers. And I posted so many threads about how bad they camp, they tunnel, they use NOED so they can stay AFK all the game and get easy kills at the end, even if they are very bad as killers...so many things that I don’t like about this game...I don’t even have the time to write them. All my threads complaining about these things that make this game unplayable have been deleted in an abusive way. So enjoy a new game and let the killers play alone. They just want to play with some bots not survivors with human brains. They will complain always anyway. Btw this forum is 90% killers. So you will have spam from their salty comments.
Honey they introduced trickster.

@BeHasU said:
Lovely <3 . There are so many angry survivor mains in the chat right now lol. They can't repair gens in front of the killer anymore. How cute
Well they can't gen tap, or even heal for that case. They tried to restrict DS to tunneling situations, but used the wrong indicators. It's like tying your industrial-grade cooling system to a bunch of potatoes as thermometers.
And no, survivors were never doing gens in your face. Press M1 and lunge. It's not that hard, never was. For every toxic survivor in the chat, there's an equally toxic killer.
-
I really cannot believe how arrogant this community is.
No, we don't know what goes on inside the developers' heads. The only prideful thing here is you assuming you know what the developers are thinking and that they're oh so complaisant.
Developing a game is a hard task. Especially because BHVR is a mid-sized company, and DBD is really their first experience with a serious game, it can be difficult to operate with such resources. Plus, especially with COVID, I think they've been a bit on their toes with their release schedule, having to coordinate everything between departments in a timely fashion. They already had to delay trickster; they're clearly working on a time crunch.
Moreover, it's hard to take "community feedback" because who represents the community? Oftentimes, it's the minority who speaks the loudest. Not only that, but they still have to adhere to their rigid schedule of releases. They'll probably buff trickster some day, but they clearly didn't have time now. It's not arrogance, the only arrogant thing here is to assume that BHVR's ego is the problem. It's just that they have too much on their plate, with the 3-month release guarantee.

Have you seen a STBFL 8 Stack Deathslinger?
if other Killers can do it why not Trickster.
Well deathslinger and huntress both have their caveats. They get one shot, before either entering cooldown or having to reload. Deathslinger can be countered by hoping to god you have a good loop or LoS breaker, or even just the slinger missing. A huntress is pretty easy to dodge if you're at a good loop. Trickster has 50 chances, and ricochet blades, to hit you once.

-
Well, you do get his perks, all of which I like. I hate hag but I would definitely buy her for her perks, so I did.
-
2, 3, and 4 I definitely agree with. If anything, movement speed while in knife mode should be the same as normal, with only a slight penalty to actually throwing knives. Plus, 115% speed. Maybe decrease the amount of knife hits required to get a down, too.
As for #1, that might turn out to be a bit abusable. Get the laceration meter to 7, M1 them with 8 stacks of STBFL, and then stab them once for an easy down. It might not be fun for everybody, but it may end up working to everybody's detriment.
-
Don't expect a new one any time soon; they're in the middle of the realm beyond graphical updates, so they'll probably do renovations first, new maps later.
-
Exactly. He sucks, but so do I, so we jive well. A buff would be nice but really, as long as it's fun I'm sanguine. What's the point of winning if it's not fun?
