  • Its not unfair in the slightest. Wraith is the second worst killer in the game. He is garbage tier. There is no playing him right. The only survivors he can do well against is noobs that don't know how to play the game.

This would be kinda fun with shell holes deep enough to hide in but slow to get out of with water at the bottom. There'd be military hardware there like tanks/planes/howitzers etc. The buildings could be bunkers/pillboxes that may or may not have gens in them. You could have barracks and supply depots/fuel depots etc.

A map that is a war torn battlefield would be awesome. It would fit the lore and be really eerie

  • If they made the dream transition cancel actions and the selfcare skillcheck no longer wake people up freddy would be in a good spot.

  • im a cat person. Whenever i am laying down my cat likes to come up onto my chest and put his paws on my face while nuzzling my neck. Cant beat that level of cuteness.

  • I agree. False reports from salty players is absolutely ridiculous. Anytime there is a false report such as the typical "this killer is a camper" or "he tunneled me" or some stupid complaint like that the person reviewing it should automatically give them a 48 hour suspension from the game and reset the bloodpoints and shards they earned to zero. Cracking down on the stupidity is the only way to make it stop.

Yes, body blocking is an intentional aspect of the game. It can be extremely frustrating especially when you get 3 full health Survivors blocking you. They even get points for blocking and getting hit called "Protection."

All you can do is just smack them out of the way run Iron Grasp to give yourself more time, or Agitation to get to a hook quicker.

Some people have suggested making Agitation oneshot while carrying a Survivor. Personally, I think this would be a nutty and hilarious change.

Oh god that would be awesome. Would for sure make people think twice about body blocking for their buddy. I can just picture a killer chasing someone around with a survivor on their back trying to get that sweet instadown.

  • I like this suggestion. Basically creates a mandatory secondary objective within the framework of the current game. No need to reinvent the wheel so to speak. This would help alot in taking the pressure off the killer and alleviate the gen rush.

Object of Obsession is actually super strong. I'm not sure what ranks you're playing, but I see OoO half of the rounds at high ranks.

The last one is, indeed, useless, I agree, and could use a rework. But so could killer obsession perks.
Also, I'm free to give my opinion in here. You're not stopping me with a good old "I like everyone but you now for some reasons, don't waste your time here".
The day I'll be breaking a rule, we'll discuss.

Hey I'm sorry over reacting, I get vary upset over people fussing over this perk. But I see you feel the same about object of obsession (if used right) its one of the strongest perks in the game. Its just when I got the game I bought the halloween DLC and Laurie was who I started off with. No one really uses Laurie's perks because they only look for DS. Do think think this would be a fair nerf (only obsession gets to use it for instant free once per match) while everyone else gets to wiggle faster? (not by much though, to make it more fair)

In the end I honestly just want the game to be fair for both killer and survivors, also do you main Billy boy?

Wiggling faster would make some hooking impossible in quite a lot of corners of maps, especially in Suffocation pit and Grim Pantry.
Survivors exploited these spots a lot at some point, and even if it got improved since then, it could prove very annoying to deal with survivors running in a corner repeatedly not to get hooked.
The devs are actually considering something like : Decisive strike stunning the killer in place, but not letting go the victim anymore, which could lead to more flashlight plays, and eventually some ways not to get hooked once if planned, that could be allright I suppose, to be tested.

I think they'll release it in the next PTB to test.

I main Billy, Hag and soon, Clown!
But I play all killers except for LF, Freddy and Nurse since I find these 3 unbearable to play.

P.S.: Don't worry about the "over reacting", I'm a grown up person and can take up an "offense", don't stress it out

Stunning the killer in place is the only change i can get on board with since it gives the killer reliable counter play and will not become a massive time sink. Under no circumstances will i ever be content with D strike so long as it remains a get out of jail free card. It is simply to devastating at high ranks to be force to chase someone down all over again not to mention it being one of the most infuriating and unfun things a killer can experience next to pallet looping.

  • Give us bloodpoints and an exclusive cosmetic that can only be kept so long as you reach rank 1 each season. The cosmetic could be a glowing blood red outfit.

  • @weirdkid5 said:
Why do you feel he is a bad Killer?

He's quite solid if played correctly.

Agreed. He can't really rival the position of the top 3 killers but he is by no means a bad killer.

Would be fun to have these silly messages appearing in screen when specific things happen. As if the Entity is mocking the survivors and killers.

    • For example when a survivor gets hit by a hatchet they'll see in their screen "Great Catch!"
    • Or when a Huntress repeatedly misses her throws she will see "Miss!, Miss!, aaand miss!, oh finally nope miss.."
    • And when she finally manage to hit one "Oh look it only took you 12 tries!"
    • Hillbilly recieves "Retetetetetetetetetetetete" while doing a long sprint.
    • When a Wraith presses the lunge button but is still in stealth mode "We tried this but it was to overpowered!"
    • When a killer and survivor are in a long chase they see this "Benny Hill music intensifies!"
    • When crows apear over a survivors head "Caw!", "Caw Caw!", "CAW CAW CAAAAAWWW!"

This wouldn't really fit the style of Dead By Daylight. DBD is supposed to cultivate an atmosphere of horror. Even if it fails at that currently introducing comedic effects like this would just be out of character for it.

  • God her hitboxes for sure need some love. Its probably the most frustrating thing about playing her. Rusty pickup truck to OP.

The devs said that the Clown's ability was inspired by a potential granade throwing soldier killer idea they had. The granades turned into the gas clouds though.

I remember that quote from the dev stream. Something like a solider that would throw cans of mustard gas. I honestly would have preferred that over the clown if i could pick between the two.

Now this i can get behind.

  • No amount of bloodpoints will make playing against SWF any less frustrating.

  • I have never respected the 4% and i never will. The whole "respect the 4%" rule is one of many made up rules by entitled survivors that think they deserve to have free escapes. If i see someone 4% in front of me i am smacking them with my hammer before they even have time to get up and that ass is going right back on the hook. When there is two people left and i have one slugged and another one that i have not hooked yet i will hook them and rev my saw in their face until they reach second stage. Its funny actually. I have had people kobe right into my chainsaw.

  • I would like to see how this suggestion would work in testing. This would be perfect material to try out in the PTB. Also this idea would work well with the hatch changes where you have to fix a gen to open it again. Devs please take note as a possible solution to gen rush.

  • Very well made, quality post. Backed by sound reasoning and facts. You have my support. Any solution that addresses complaints on both sides of the fog is always a good thing and healthy for the game as a whole.

    Devs are aware.
We had this discussion today again on Discord.

They are starting to work actively since this patch to make the killer experience better in general.
They told me to trust and wait, and tbh, there's nothing we can do to either : wait and trust, or leave and go (play civilization).

This honestly gives me hope for the future but the devs have alot of work to do in order to make it up to the community. They have done and said some pretty outrageous things. Talk is cheap for them, they can say what ever they want. It is action that will truly show us if they have learned from their mistakes and are willing to take a firm stance and balance this game once and for all.

Being able to kill the killer shack window is such a boon, so it'll be useful regardless of which map is rolled.

That the primary reason why i will be running it. It completely shuts down the killer shack and forces the pallet drop. Its going to be really nice. It will also help in the jungle gyms.

  • They didn't exceed my expectations but they didn't let me down either. I wont pay for it but i will try and earn it through playtime. I dont mind the perks. Kates perks seem meh but they could be useful with the right combination of perks. The only perk i am interested in however is bamboozle. I think that could possibly be a new Meta perk since it can shutdown the old infinite's completely. Cowtree, ironworks of misery, etc.

Also no i do not feel they fixed pallet looping with this update. Shortened loops yes but not eliminated it. Still it will be nice to not be robbed of my well deserved hit because of the vacuum so that is a win in my books.

Frankly, I prefer the vague words over hard numbers from an aesthetic POV. But I would at least like for stacking opposing effects to mean the same, so that a moderate increase plus a moderate decrease would equal zero.

I do agree aesthetically it does look better and if the values were consistent i would have no issue but since the values are all over the place it creates a really awkward situation. Whats also strange is that in some instances the devs are not against the idea of using actual values to describe the difference on some things. For example Brutal Strength says that pallet break speed is increased by exactly 20%. Why they decided to use 20% as opposed to just saying considerably increases pallet break speed i have no clue. Sometimes they use real numbers other times they do not.

  • @RagingCalm said:
I completely agree, however when asked on a live stream, the developers said that this is intentional for "balance." The only thing I see this doing is confusion, which does not go along with "balance."

All it does is just confuse me aswell. If i want to figure out the exact numbers i have to drop by the wiki. Much love to @DocOctober for his hardwork maintaining that place and giving us the raw information.

The ability for 4 people to have fun shouldn't come at the expense of the 1, especially when the 4 are breaking the entire game by playing together in the first place.

There will always be someone not having fun in this game. If the killer is having fun, the survivors will probably not have as much fun and vice versa. That's just how it is. When you play a game you risk losing if going up against better players, but that's how you learn and get better. You win some, you lose some. I don't get why people get so worked up over it. Accept the challenge in stead of whining.

"Accept the challenge" when the challenge is objectively breaking the balance. The game is balanced around solo players, ask Mathieu Cote himself. Watch the Depip Squad win nearly 100 matches in a row because the Survivors goals are super easy on top of using SWF. Watch McLean even admit that SWF isnt balanced.

There is no challenge. It's completely one sided if the survivors aren't a bunch of potatoes. You can't argue this with me. The science is there as well as evidence straight up from the dev team.

Marthe's experiment was a little extreme, no? 4 players on comms or off, with meta perks or without, who have the hours they have in the game..you think this is a regular occurrence? This isn't science I'm afraid. There are way too many variables and nothing is being proven other than what is expected..that if 4 really good players play together, they win. Big shock. This is what McClean was referring to when he said "they know" and "so what" (apologies if misquoting).

Also..there were killers that killed the "de-pip" squad that never healed and just did gens (yet more behaviour never seen in regular games)...and those killers were exceptional. Why not try to get better and be on par with those exceptional killers instead of just moaning? What's wrong with that?

Its irrelevant if its a regular occurrence. The problem is that when you get a coordinated team like the depip squad the killer stands no chance unless the survivors screw up somewhere. You might think its acceptable to downplay the results of the depip squad but they proved just how broken this game is at a fundamental level. Just wait until leaderboards and seasonal rewards are a thing. Where SWF groups stop dicking around and go full sweaty try hard like the depip squad.

What? If something is a regular occurrence then it's irrelevant? What are talking about? Surely the opposite is true? What? Did you just mind game yourself? :/

Yes, it is a problem when 4 players come together with more hours combined than I have sperm cells. It really is. But it happens so rarely that they proved nothing other than what everybody already knew. It was well intentioned but ultimately pointless. To play the way they did is not indicative of how the majority of games go or how the majority of people play (there are stats to support this).

I apologize for that confusion. I made a typo. I meant to say that even if the way they play is NOT a regular occurrence it still represents a problem with respect to balance. People might not always play like them now but high hour SWF players most certainly do especially in 4 man squads at high ranks and this playstyle will become a major problem in the future and become alot more common once leaderboards are released. At that point the try hard SWF groups will have no reason to hold back be it to troll the killer or just dick around farming the map. They will slam the gens hard and get out before the killer has time to even hook a single person.

My whole point is that the devs are going to need to bring this into consideration. Its the defacto best way to survive and its so effective that any killer regardless of skill or playtime stands no chance against it. If the survivors want to accomplish their sole objective and survive they can do it and the killer will be powerless to stop them. its a fundamental game flaw the devs will HAVE to address if they ever hope for this game to become competitive and balanced.

Can you please read your comments before posting them? :/ "NOT a regular occurrence, it still represents a problem with balance". NO. No it doesn't. You have to see that what you just wrote is contradictory? The majority of games are not like this de-pip nonsense, stop pretending like they are and stop pretending there isn't anything to be done about it in game. There were exceptional killers that killed marth and his friends...aim to be better like them.

When leader-boards come out then we can all have a conversation about balance then. But you're assuming that all these survivors are going to really pull up their sleeves and try hard...where are they now? If it's so easy why not just all do it now? You are just thinking of the extreme again.

And, come on...competitive and balanced? There is too much RNG for this game to be competitive. You can be competitive, sure, but don't think this game can ever be balanced for the purposes of competitive play. You win or lose in this game and you do both regularly.

Ok, how as a killer do i stop a SWF coordinated gen rush when the survivors have a sea of pallets, every crutch perk under the sun, BNP's, etc. What is my counterplay as killer? Marth showed that there is nothing you can do but hope they make really dumb mistakes that the killer can capitalize on. I dont care if every 1/100 games are like the depip squad or if all of them are. There is NOTHING a killer can do to stop them unless the survivors screwup. Marths stats speak for themselves. You like to pretend that these tryhard groups dont exist. They do and i get them alot. Some are ass and they make mistakes that i can use against them but then you get some that know where every pallet spawns and can loop you and loop you and the moment you leave them to go get someone else they hop back on a gen and the other guy repeats the process and the game is done before you could even catch one. You are deluding yourself if you think this is not a problem. Acting like because every other game in not always cancer it somehow is ok and i just need to get good.

If you don't care if 1/100 games are like it or not then why are you so fervently arguing your non point?

We all know that in the extreme cases like you mentioned the killer can't do much. At no point did I say otherwise. These try hard groups you speak of are not the extreme we are talking about (marth's group) and you are blurring the lines and not staying on point. I'm not being delusional, you are.

You will lose and win a lot in this game. Some will be better than you. Get better and learn or don't...or just keep talking about the EXTREME scenario involving marth's bunch which never happens.

It says more about you as a killer that you can't deal with losing or can't fathom a way to counter competent survivors. Sometimes you might play badly. Sometimes mistakes will be made and you are there to pounce. YOU have the ability to force the mistakes though. If survivors make mistakes they get punished..if a killer makes mistakes they get punished. If a survivor looks good and not likely to make a mistake, go for someone else. If they are in an area that is too safe, go find another. Slug. Bait. Whatever. It's not supposed to be a walk in the park otherwise it would be boring.

If map design was better and the survivors had less tools to waste my time i would agree with you but there is a difference between going up against a group of challenging survivors and a group of impossible ones. The skilled survivors that know how to waste my time are almost impossible to deal with. To many pallets, to many looping spots and not enough time for me to deal with it all before the final gen is brought online. Likewise if they screw up and i catch one my reward is a good ol' fashioned D strike while they sprint burst away and i am forced to repeat the process. Gens done in 3 minutes, eat 3 - 4 D strikes and 20+ pallets. Games over before i kill one. Guess i am just a bad killer.

  • I would be all for @weirdkid5 suggestion but only after the game is balanced with SWF in mind. Once the killers are buffed to stand a chance against the SWF there will be no reason to dodge a lobby besides bad ping.

It would be cool to get different skins for say leatherface or Amanda but the only killer they absolutely should not give custom skins to under any circumstances is Michael Myers. His Gray boiler suit is a staple of the Halloween series and who Michael is. Anything other than his boiler suit would be wrong and a disgrace to such a great horror figure.

True but originally his prestige had way more blood on it before it was mysteriously reduced. They have never commented on the change but did say some time ago that they have to get approval from the owners as to what they can and can't do with the licensed characters in all aspects. I somehow don't see the Halloween holders having an issue with the bloody Myers though hmm.

I can imagine the bloody myers was acceptable to the licensee holders simply because the prestige outfits were a vital part of Dead By Daylight. A bloody gray boiler suit is still a boiler suit but having Michael wear anything else would just feel out of character.

    It's PTB.
Last time I asked devs, they told me that iteration will very likely not go through it.

i know it's PTB man, but it's pretty annoying to see every single time that if a survivor is in an scenario where he should be at a disadvantage he's given all the free out of jail cards that are possible. Thinking about it as a survivor: Why should i work hard, if the killer can work for me?

it just doesn't make any sense and it frustrates me so much. And i know these are subject to change and that the iteration may not pass the PTB, but still the idea is just absurd

I woulden't give the change to much weight right now. Again to reiterate it is PTB. Perhaps they just wanted to test it and see how it would be received. We are not going to be getting the new hatch mechanics for sometime. They are just using this as an opportunity to test out different things before settling on a concrete solution.

Trust me, this game will fall apart once they introduce leaderboards and seasonal rewards.
The unbalance is only bearable atm because survivors are fooling around, if they would actually try to win the game as hard as possible (swf, full item, meta perks), I dont even want to imagine......

That is what i fear. The devs have made is very clear that they want to push Dead By Daylight into the competitive scene but they have given no consideration into just how broken the fundamental objective is and have not expressed any desire to address that. The killers are getting quality of life buffs that will make their gameplay less frustrating but the core of the game is about as broken as broken can get. The disparity between SWF and Solo queue will further widen with the introduction of a true competitive atmosphere leading to Depip squad levels of cancer everywhere and games that last under 5 minutes. The game is simply not ready for the competitive scene. They need to merge SWF and Solo queue together with the same level of information, buff the killers accordingly and rework the objective.

  • +1 Its insane the level of entitlement i see from survivors. Today i had a squad that genrushed me with bnp's. I only managed to catch one guy just as the final gen came online. You bet your ass i camped him to death. One of his SWF buddies hung around and i managed to catch him. I camped him into the ground aswell. In the post game chat they were salty, saying camping should be banned and that i should have let them make the save. Like lol what am i supposed to do. You blitz the gens with BNP's before i can even get my first hook and then i am the bad guy for atleast ensuring the one catch i managed to get becomes a secure kill.

Then just yesterday i had a wannabe toxic squad. Clicky, clicky flashlights, D strike, the whole nine yards. They played like ass and i dumpstered them with 4 gens left. 3 of the 4 DCed on me. I just dont get it sometimes. The survivors have been babied so much by the devs that they have come to expect free wins. That any sort of challenge presented to them in any capacity is all of a sudden OP and needs to be nerfed. This is what happens BHVR when you try and balance your game around noobs and hold there hands every step of the way. They come to expect ez games and throw a ######### fit when things go south.

My unpopular opinion. Survivors under no circumstances should be able to 1v1 any of the killers or have an advantage over the killer in any capacity.

What do you mean? I don't recall the survivor being able to fight the 1v1?

Is there a secret trick to hit the killer with a flashlight?

1v1 in the context that a good survivor can run a killer on a wild goose chase from pallet to pallet for the whole length of the game and the killer is powerless to stop them unless they make a mistake. The power is directly in the survivors hands not the killers. A killer having to rely on a survivor screwing up is not a balanced situation in a 4v1 asymmetrical game. The only killer that can directly counter this is the nurse.

  • I actually really like your suggestion. Its not overly complicated and it could be really interesting aswell. Question tho. How would vigil effect the new exhaustion mechanic?

The main point of rituals is to make you play a variety of things, even if you're not used to it.

What these rituals actually lack is more renewal. 3 per day would be way nicer overall.

This, or give us back the rituals that let us earn over 90,000k points just for one.

@SadonicShadow Hmm concept needs more polish I think before being seriously considered. Just some things I would like clarified before properly critiquing the idea:
    1) At what point can you take advantage of the self-heal? If you can't go back to healthy but you heal yourself while downed, at what point in the game does the perk become viable?
    2) If you able to self-heal while downed, why would you ever run the original No Mither?. It seems like an objectively better version of it and if healing does work while down the way I think it does it also arguably works a little like a multi-use unbreakable.

I feel like your perk idea was lost on me, so a little further explanation would be nice

I think i should have been a bit more clear in my post. When i said no mither effect i dident literally mean like the perk no mither. I mean in the context of simply not dropping blood or making grunts of pain. You woulden't be able to recover off the ground. I just used some of the effects of no mither so that people would understand where i was going with my idea. my apologies for the confusion.

    Renders no mither useless.

Implying it is useful to begin with.

No mither is useful. Your suggestion would means there's no point in no mither.

No mither tied with tenacity + dead hard + WGLF is a confrontational gameplay meant to take hits for your team.

No mither is pefect for bodyblocking, there's even a perk with it that gives you BP for doing it. It's solely meant for taking hits. Because it doesn't matter if you get down if the killer is distracted, because you can simply pick yourself back up. So yeah, I am implying it has some use.

No mither needs to sorely be reworked entirely. What you just brought up was the most situational use case i can ever imagine for it and it would require an incredibly dumb killer to just leave a no mither on the ground. No mither is a trash tier, garbage perk and running it hurts your team more than it helps.

  • Premonition is my guilty pleasure.

  • Honestly if the game is no longer fun for you then there is no reason to keep playing it and having a bad time. Games are meant to be a fun, entertaining experience. If asymmetrical horror is your thing i would see what Last Year or Hide or Die has to offer like what weirdkid said. They will be the competitors in the asymmetrical genre and you can bet they are taking notes on DBD and figuring out what works and what does not.
