If they could figure out the ranking system where it properly measures skill and deranking was eliminated or at least made very difficult to do i think scaling the difficult of the trials based upon rank would be a good way to go about buffing killers while helping out the noobs. I suggested before that as you go up in rank there should for example be less and less pallets. Pallets help new players survive for a bit but on high rank, highly skilled players they are an overpowered nightmare. Seriously reducing pallets for true high rank players would be a good balance forcing them to rely on mind games in jungle gyms and being stealthy. To encourage people to reach the highest rank possible there could be an end season reward. Depending on the rank you achieved you could get a lump sum of bloodpoints and maybe some shards or auric cells. I also like the idea of giving those that reach rank 1 a special cosmetic for the next season and you have to keep reaching rank 1 each season to keep the cosmetic available to you. It could be a glowing, bloodred shirt or something like that.

I see where you're coming from, but I don't believe they should take steps to remove SWF even if partially by limiting the amount of members allowed to join it. The reality is that not everyone fills up their game to have a 4 man squad with the pure intent to be nothing but toxic, this is a rarity out of all players in total. For me when I play the game as a survivor I often play solo but occasionally when I see a friend or two online then I decide to invite them to have fun with them as that's pretty much the point of games - to have fun. I do agree something should be done so that the killers can be better equipped to handle toxic groups or changes in the game that will continue to penalize toxicity or toxic actions and at the same time changes that help those out who play solo so that all survivors in general are in the same level of ability to cooperate so that effective changes can begin to happen. But in general, I just disagree with the idea of removing 3-4 player SWF groups mostly since it's already been in the game for a long time and most people just want a game they can enjoy with their friends.Thank you for your reply and i agree with you. I also use SWF. Its mostly just my girlfriend and i but sometimes we run with 3 and once in a blue moon 4 people. We dont play toxic either and i can agree that its not every group. I just want to see some serious balance changes because even if my group of friends are not aiming to troll the level of information we get for being a squad is unfair to the killer. As a killer i just get fed up with how little power i actually hold in this game. The killer role is supposed to be a position of power. A weakling survivor should not be able to 1v1 a killer in any circumstances yet they can and then when you throw the SWF level coordination into the mix with tryhard survivors you have a killer that is absolutely powerless. Even a god tier nurse can get dumpstered by them. Its sad. I just hope by the end of 2018 we will have a balanced game that will account for SWF because playing killer makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes when i face cancer squads.

They are really going to need to do something about the grind again as more and more characters get released. The bloodweb is already polluted with so many perks and the fact you can only buy one at a time and usually only at a single tier for 50k per bloodweb once you reach level 50 is insane. I have a goal in my mind to reach p3 level 50 with all perks on all characters in the game so that i can feel a sense of completion. Right now that goal is starting to look more and more unattainable with the hellish grind that awaits as more perks and characters are introduced.

I always liked the idea of selfcare giving you a sort of no mither effect. Gets rid of blood drops and sounds of pain, you still limp and you still go down in one hit. Then buff the self heal speed to the normal heal speed and tremendously buff the self heal efficiency atleast to the point that a brown medkit can give you two full self heals. This would mean if you want to fully selfheal you need to bring a medkit, if you dont have a medkit you just have to live with a subpar heal that mitigates the seriousness of your injury until you find a medkit or a teammate. Atleast this way the perk still has a functional purpose and gives people a real reason to bring medkits even if its a crummy brown one. That's an interesting idea actually and perhaps make it so that if you don't have the medikit/find one you'd only get the heal more fully done if you run the botany perk. Also if you fail the self heal skill check make your cries of pain louder ie aura fail bigger for that one time fail.
I actually like the idea for that combo. If you dont want to bring a medkit just bring selfcare + botany and that would allow you to fully selfheal. 2 perk slots for full, unlimited selfheals. Would be a balanced tradeoff.

You speak like someone who has never played at the high ranks as killer. If you think going up against 4 decisive strike pallet loopers along with brand new parts is fun then by all means have at it bucko.
I never stated I was high rank and my experience with pallet lopping is there since I've seen it from both sides as a killer and as someone watching someone else doing it. But that's not the issue, the issue is you're whining about not getting free wins basically because you don't want to have to build to counter what you see.
You're the only killer poster main so far that in every thread whines about survivors not making things easy for them. If they pallet loop you, destroy the stupid pallet. DS has a cooldown, use that to your advantage. You know they're going to run it counter it with addons/perks/killers.
I ran into a 4 man SVf group last night as a lvl 1 Hillbilly., I got pallet looped and obstacle looped a lot. I destroyed pallets, I stopped chasing and went back and damaged gens,. I also remembered where the survivors would go to lopp me and cut corners and downed them.
I managed to down survivors 6x or so and while i didn't get any sacrifices I still got them down including the expert who was ranked 8 and had prestiged and at least 1x possibly more. I did all that without a single addon or perk as a lvl 1 Hillbilly. Now if I with almost no experience on the Hillbilly going up against a 4 man SVF group with all those perks and a rank 8 can down people you can't complain then.
If you can't adapt, outsmart, out think, out plan, out everything against them then it's not the devs fault but your own. Is the game balanced at high ranks against SVF no, but that's no excuse to give up and whine that you can't have an easy game. Because duh you're at high rank it's not supposed to be easy to win.
You whine they're not entitled to your time well you're not entitled to waste their time or get an easy win. How is you getting a free win a fun game for them? Isn't that hypocritical to say you want to have fun but don't want them to. You need to quit griping over what you can't control and grow up and start using the knowledge you should have to take advantage of where you can and try and negate where you're weaker.
The top killers aren't all on here whining about it non stop nor are they making excuses for the shortcomings. No, they're working on strategies, planning ahead, doing their best and making sure they don't stop trying to improve. The other thing they're not doing is coming to the forums whining incessantly about how unfair things are. They're actually making good posts on how to improve things without skewing it so far in the other direction.
As someone else already stated solo queue is 30% survival rate which is absurdly low and is probably even lower when it's newer players mostly. As I've suggested they should give killers buffs against svf groups but only those members of svf groups.
Finally realize SVF isn't going away, it's here to stay and most people want to play with friends. So saying people need to just quit if they want to play with friends because you can't handle it suggests you should be the one to quit. The more people that play means the more people that have bought the game. The more people buy the game the more money the devs have to make improvements you know like the ones they're working on right now.
You know the ones like pallet looping and DS etc that you conveniently ignore with all your posts. Lets face it you don't want a balanced game, you want free wins since that's the only way you'll have fun.
All i am going to leave here in response to this unnecessarily long rant is look up Marths Depip Squad on youtube. if you think i stand a chance against that or that it is balanced then no one here can help you.

I dodge as killer but only if i see things like 4 toolboxes/ 4 flashlights or an obvious Seal Team 6 SWF group. I am not going to waste my time giving a cancer squad a game just so that they can harass me. They dont deserve a game.So in other words you don't want to have to actually use your skills and out think the other side but have a free win handed to you.Way to feel entitled to not have to try at all. You see 4 toolboxes go with the 2 dbl perks that counter that as well as a killer that can counter. They go 4 flashlights go the counter to that as well as killer. There's also the offering you get to have the advantage there since you can clearly see what they're doing.
Go Lery's and the Shape or the Hag there and wreck their kitchens since you as the killer have options and can plan ahead. Oh and just stop whining voer you can't see their profiles good grief if you need that much of a handicap you shouldn't be playing a killer. Do you really need the entity to hold your hand that much to give you a chance?
If I was the entity I'd sacrifice you and get a real killer, not some whiner who can't act the part of the killer good grief. The killer i supposed to be ruthless and fearless and not care about the game being fair or easy for them. The good/great killers overcome all obstacles and sacrifice everything in their way. They don't ask for the survivor to please play easy and stad in front of the hook.

YOU can see the swf to prepare. the swf have to guess what's coming and can't provide for the killer
Except when they last second switch in 4 flashlights lol. Sorry, i play this game to have a good time not play ring around the pallet with 4 man decisive strike with all brand new parts. If that is your idea of fun then your a masochist. I cannot and will not subject myself to that. They are not entitled to my time. I make the decision if i want to host their game and if i dont like what i see i have every right to leave that lobby. They can go ruin someone elses day.

My suggestion, give solo full SWF like comms, so them survivors can be nerfed without making the solo survival rate even worse than the current 30%Honestly if they want to do anything with it this would be a good start. Give Solo queue optional voice comms and then buff the killers significantly. This would literally destroy the atmosphere BHVR was trying to make with this game but that has been destroyed the moment they introduced SWF anyways. I think at that point something seriously drastic would need to be changed to buff the killer. Either remove pallets so that the chases can end quickly or rework the whole objective system and give killers more time to get something done.

Statistically 75# of games are SWF, 60% of SWF is AT LEAST 3 man. Sadly no
Killer best get some massive buffs in the future then because i am getting sick and tired of facing these animals. They have to many tools, to much information and not enough time for me to deal with them. Game is over in the blink of an eye and if i manage to down one they swarm me like flies. Those survivors that want to queue in large groups could just suck it up and play with their best friend. If they want queue as a 3 or 4 man they can come to the forums and ask someone to host them a KYF lobby or have one of their friends do it.

No, when the game first released, there was no SWF, I don’t like it either BTW. They then added that, as they were losing money due to no friends mode really fast, they had to cave. Now that it is a thing, removing it would cause even more backlash. It’s like a vice that’s been tightened, balanced or not, it ain’t coming off.
I mention a possible solution in my post “why balance is so hard” or it’s called something like that, I don’t remember, just check my profile.
Why did you not read my post. I said 3 and 4 man SWF. Not duo.

Even games without any Decisive Strike can prove immensely difficult to kill everyone before the exit gates are powered. Just imagine 1 guy at the beginning of the match being a great looper, and running you around for 2 generators or more. He uses Decisive immediately, so yeah he is injured forever, but have you thought about him just hiding and not being found afterwards? Then the other 3 on his SWF use their Decisive at the end, and you cannot juggle them because they can use the perk the instant they are picked up.That's where I wanna stop you, it's not difficult to kill everyone before gates are powered, as you're the one that decides if they get to power the generators or not, you don't have to keep chasing that one survivor around
Marths depip squad would like to have a word with you.
-
I agree its obnoxious but it takes alot of skill to pull off well for the survivor and the killer can counter it once you know how the 360 works.
-
To add too my idea the stun time could be buffed slighty to give you additional time to wiggle. In addition to it the D strike would completely stun you in place, almost like paralysis. This would give your team mates a couple second window to get a flashlight save in or set up a body block train.
-
Honestly when it comes to the SWF question i think taking a simple approach would be the best one. The bulk of the issues we experience from SWF is the 3 and 4 man cancer squads that make the game a nightmare to play. 1.) We could create two separate queues. One of them is an unranked casual mode that allows SWF and Solo players to join. Solo players and killers would be granted some buff's in this mode aswell as a bloodpoint bonus for hosting this match. Then the ranked mode could be entirely solo queue. Remove the ability to see steam names and steam profiles and scrap the pregame chat. This would make lobby hopping impossible to accomplish.
2.) Now this solution i think the devs would be more onboard with and it would take less work. Like i stated earlier in my post SWF becomes a serious problem when you are running against 3 and 4 man squads. If separate queues are out of the question i think a compromise is in order. Only allow 2 man SWF and completely remove 3 and 4 man SWF from the game unless you play KYF. 2 man SWF is not as horrible to deal with and the killer could easily be buffed in certain areas to accommodate. Its mostly just 2 friends having a good time. Again remove the ability to view steam names and profiles and scrap the pre game chat and ability to see killers loadouts on death.Edit: oh also Survive with Friends could also be renamed to Survive with a Friend.

I know camping sucks for survivors but it is a legit strategy that does have fair counter play. You are not entitled to free saves every time your friend is on the hook. Death is apart of this game and the killer can use any means necessary that is not cheating to achieve his goals. Its his game after all and if all he wants to do is camp his first victim to death then that is his prerogative. Survivors have plenty of toxic tools at their disposal such as D strike, pallet loops, sprint burst, flashlights, BNP's, Instaheals, etc but they have no shame in using those so why should i as a killer feel any remorse for ensuring my well earned catch gets rightfully killed.
-
My idea of balance is to make sure the killer always has the advantage, always has the upper hand when it comes to survivor and killer interactions. The thing that irks me the most is that the game mechanics allow a survivor to 1v1 a killer in a 4v1. That should not be a possibility at all. I admit that i dont know how to go about this in the correct way though. But i would like survivors to not feel they have the capability and tools to make the killer into a fool and the killer be helpless to stop it. It is probably the most draining thing as killer. Getting found by the killer should be an "oh #########, i messed up. My ass is getting hooked for sure" Not "yeahhhh, boiiii lets go to pallet town. Follow me for the next 5 minutes as a tea bag and spam click my flashlight at you"

Well Thanatophobia doesn't need a rework, just a HUGE buff so that it really rewards you for spreading the pain.Even with a major buff to its values so long as selfcare is still top tier meta making healing a nonissue Thanatophobia will remain a redundent perk better served by something such as ruin.

I have actually suggested this idea twice on the DbD subreddit. Glad to see that someone else also thinks it would be a good idea.It for sure would be a really nice change. The perk would still be useful and if the killer wanted to run a build to counter it iron grasp + enduring + agitation would do just that.
-
I have been running tinkerer on my billy with a sparkplug + Vegetable oil because i dont want to use my good addons. Does anyone know the raw numbers on this? What is the percent increase on charge time does a spark plug give you and then what is that number adjusted for tinkerer? Am i wasting a perk slot using tinkerer with it? I presume DocOctober would probably know this.
-
I have always been in favor of a SWF casual mode with bloodpoint incentives for the killer and a ranked mode for 2 SWF at max or maybe just straight up solo queue. I think it would be an experiment worth trying. People say it would split the player base and it some respects it very well could hurt queue times. On the other hand it might actually help the game. It would likely bring back old players that left out of frustration and the community and gameplay would be alot more healthy with this segregation which would lead to more people buying, playing and enjoying the game. There is a chance it could go south but their is also a chance it could vastly improve the game and expand its playerbase.

His stars uniform, his awesome sunglasses and trench coat, etc. +1 for a resi chapter. I know alot of people that would love something like that.

Plus it being obession only means people will run other obession perks (NOT META PERKS) in order to be obession.Another suggestion i seen floated around for D strike is make it have a bleedout timer. When the survivor D strikes a killer they basically get a borrowed time status. They then need to haul ass and hide. It would atleast negate their ability to take you back to pallet town and waste more time.

Why not make D strike simply stun the killer in place instead of dropping the survivor? Keep everything about D strike the same from the stun times to the skillcheck but instead you get a stun giving the survivor more time to wiggle. This suggestion would also pair well with boil over for anyone looking to run a wiggle free build. With this change the killer would have some legit counter play and it would not be game breaking. Its a simple idea but maybe this is all the perk really needs to be balanced. Thoughts? Opinions?Every one thinking up these big changes. Your idea is good. But honestly...
Just make only obession able to use it. Problem solved. Only one D-strike s game, that won’t effect you that much.
Maybe this but just the idea of a free escape that the killer has little control over just doesn't feel right. The stun time could be increased to give more wiggle time but for all the talk about potential changes mine feels like it would be the best solution purely because its easy to implement, the killer can counter it with other perks like iron grasp and enduring and it wont be a detriment to the killer. Once a killer catches someone he should not be robbed of that catch and have to sink more time into a chase. In a meta all about time this would be the most effective solution to ensure it is fair for everyone.
The idea of me being punished for doing good with a one hit during exit gate power doesn’t leave me feeling okay. It leaves me WOKE
NOED isen't that much of an issue since it has good counter play. Destroying all the totems preemptively negates the perk completely. Whenever you have the chance you should be cleansing totems to account for this perk.
