Well you play solo so there's no reason to play the game if you care about winning.
I see you don't care about people Dcing then

Stake Out, Potential Energy, PTS, Fogwise and Deja Vu are all a little silly, as - especially against an organized squad - they can melt gens faster than you can kill them whilst also knowing exactly where you are.

Eruption has a pick rate of 18-20%. Bull to 90%.
Also - something having a high pick rate is not, in and of itself, an indication of a problem. Self Care had a ridiculously high pick rate.

Killers run a lot of regression, because A. Against a team that knows what they are doing, you simply do not have enough time to kill them all before they explode the gens and B. aside from some info perks, killers don't have many universally useful perks that aren't regression. I mean...STBFL can be good on some killers and one or two can use Starstruck well, but outside of that it's all pretty meh.
Had a game a few days ago on Ghostface/The Game that I wish I had recorded, because it was fascinating.
I had almost no downtime - stalk, chase, pallet, down, hook, stalk, chase, pallet, down, hook - and I was at 0 gens before I'd gotten 6 hooks. Just running Surge didn't cut it, the only way I could have won is if I'd either hard tunneled someone out early (I don't like doing that) or brought substantially more regression, preferably Eruption. The second I was away from a gen, two of them were back on it. They were barely even trying to evade me - run me a bit, go down, because in the time I took to hook someone, I'd lose a gen.
They had:
Deja Vu.
PTS x2.
BNP x3.
Hyperfocus.
Stakeout x2.
Fogwise x2 (which didn't even help them much against Ghosty).
Game lasted around 7 minutes, and a good portion of that was me defending gates. Ended with 2 hooks on 3 people, 1 hook on 1 person and got told to uninstall in postgame.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3305744#Comment_3305744
You're starting to see it more, as a new SWF meta emerges. Hyperfocus, PTS, Stakeout, often Potential Energy to break a 3gen or destroy the last gen.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3305726#Comment_3305726
Eh...here's the thing.
Any smallish map will do. It works even better on The Game. And a SWF running this sort of 'blow up the gens before they can kill us' build will send you to DDS, Midwich, RPD or The Game.
Outside of tunneling or hard regression, I haven't found an answer to this.
Then nobody is using meta perks
-
Meta shake up is useless
What this game needs is a buff to aaaaaaaaaaall perks
Every single perk in the game should be strong as the meta perks, so everybody will have a plethora of choices, and the games will not be predictable anymore
-
Nobody uses Hyperfocus
-
Give the hatch or let at least 2 survivors escape if someone kill themselves on hook to balance it out then, if that concerns you

You missed the point where Survivors would stay out of 'nearby' range.
You are still ignoring everything I said to oversimplify the result and ignore the actual fallout.
It was supposed to discourage camping. NOT give Survivors a free unhook whenever they wanted.
Sounds like camping

I don't see what is so hard to understand. By how it is described, there would be only three possible outcomes:
- Killer stays facecamping without moving. Hooking time would not going down as North and South survivors are there. The 4º survivor is free to do all 5 gens and open gates by his own.
- Killer decides to go after either North or South survivor. The other one not being chased would go to the rescue and free the other. They got a guaranteed unhook without the pressure of time running out to do the save and now three survivors are free to do gens while either North or South loop the killer.
- Killer try to fend of the hook, so start chasing either North or South survivor for a short time then come to the hook to defend it from the other. We are back to outcome 1.
In other words, what survivors are doing today with gens but with a hooked survivor instead. Why don't surprise me that survivors abused mechanics that put the killer in lose/lose situations 🤣
Just chase down one of the survivors, down and hook them, rinse and repeat, no?
-
@Stabby_Widdershins said:

Except the Killer is not camping if he KNOWS two survivors are by the hook.
Why should he be FORCED to leave, in that scenario? The Survivors don't deserve unhooks just because they really want them. They came to HIM, and he deserves to defend his hook if he knows Survivors are nearby.
But this mechanic allows Survivors to stand out in the open and the Killer could not protect his hook, because the sacrifice timer would stop dead since he was not in a chase.
Thus, it was abused in a way it was not intended. Because it was never intended to prevent the killer from defending his kills.
But only 1 survivor doing gens?
This can easily be fixed by not stopping the timer if another survivor is nearby
-
@Stabby_Widdershins said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3305364#Comment_3305364
I may not be saying it well but the abuse was that Survivors would basically force it to happen for free unhooks.
It stopped being a mechanic to discourage hook camping and turned into a mechanic by which Survivors could, 100% of the time, get safe unhooks. And since the Killer is SUPPOSED to be the power role, this did not mesh with that concept.
Survivors were basically mooning the Killer and twerking and knew the only 2 outcomes were 'Infinite hook time for our friend to solo gens' or 'Free unhook'. Thus, it was abused past what it was meant to do.
You keep boiling it down to 'Killer had to leave', which loses all nuance and over-simplifies it to the desired goal.
But why the killer is not chasing one of the survivor down?
It started to sound like the killer is indeed camping in this situation
So how an anticamping mechanic is not gonna work against camping?

It's been described thousands of times, but here:
Let's call Survivors North and South, in relation to the hook.
They stand far enough away that the Killer cannot start a chase easily. Now the Killer knows he can only go after ONE person, and the other will run in for a save, right?
So he runs after North. North runs away and South runs in. No chase has started because of the distance. So he resets, and South backs up, and North resets.
Again; no chase has started, so the Hook Guy is literally immune to dying on the hook. And the Killer has literally 2 choises:
- Chase a Survivor, give up a hook that he can't progress because he's nearby
- Sit at the hook and never get a kill.
The game is now basically giving Survivors a free unhook or free gen time; whichever they want, just because they decided to force the Killer into a lose/lose setup whenever he hooks someone.
This was how it was abused. This is not a made up story. This is not a 'what if' or a 'They COULD do this'. This. Is. What. Happened. The Killer was FORCED to give up hooks because Survivors found the minimum distance to camp the hook THEMSELVES to lock down the Killer or force him to walk away.
Sorry, I have a hard time understanding this
The abuse is that the killer cannot leave the hooked survivor area?
I am so confused

Its sarcasm

No it's not, because it was tried, in game, and abused.
That means it's NOT the answer, because it would just be abused again.
Can you show to me how it worked and how it was abused?
I didnt play the game back when it was implemented

The only other options they have are AFK (which should get them kicked and DC’d anyways), sandbagging too obviously (which gets them banned from the game entirely instead of just queue), or sandbagging less obviously, at which point they’d have to play enough to pass as someone actually trying, even if bad at it. At which point, the goal of forcing them to play instead of quit has succeeded. People sandbag in other games too. That isn’t an excuse to have a way to quit without getting penalty.
The root of the problem is immaturity and entitlement. End of story.
So you rather play a game with people pretending to play "normally", which means the game is already over and you are wasting your time and effort rather than just finish the game as quickly as possible and move on with another game with people actually wanting to play?
Sorry, but these are the kind of mindsets that ruin online games
-
Good idea
Now for killers addons do the same. Killer need to go to one side of the map and interact with a glyth to unlock 1 addon and then move to the other side of the map for the second addon
-
@SmolBlob said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3305159#Comment_3305159
The point is getting rid of a loophole that lets people ragequit without getting the penalty for quitting.
People will find another way to do so, like I said
How about fixing the root of the problem instead?

Okay, it has reached a point of comedy to see the "stop the hook timer when killer is in X radius for Y time"-idea getting proposed again and again and everytime the person that posts it thinks or presents it as NOVEL, when it is already 4-5 years old and didn't work in it's iteration back then.
But thats the only answer

@HugTechLover said:
If they are face-camping early on, punish it. We had a bubba facecamp at gen 5 last night. We popped all gens as they died on hook and we got 3 out. Enjoy your 1k.
Yea it sucks to be facecamped off rip, but it’s a strategy that I don’t see being taken out. Camping, more so prox camping can be the best thing to do in some situations.
Many posts have gained traction about this lol. It won’t make a difference.
Sorry, but its hard to believe 3 survivors finished 5 gens in 2 minutes and they all escaped
-
People will still find a way to" ruin" the game; Nothing will work unless they balance the game correctly
-
I will accept that
But only if DH doesn't have an animation anymore so killers will not know when its activated
and increase the Endurance time to 1 second

The amount of tunnels and campings are killing my love for this game

While this would help, even if the game was much more balanced there are many players who would still DC/suicide the moment the match isn't going their way.
Pretty sure the cases will be lower
-
The fix is: balance the game correctly

We could say that bully/sabo/rush squads are a strategy too but it doesn't mean it should exist, especially when it's ruining your game.
In my opinion, tunneling and camping should not exist, at all. The game should be designed to make it impossible to do. And at the same time buff other killer aspects such as gen speed and loops. I am okay with spending more time on a gen or having to loop better if I am guaranteed to be free from tunneling and camping.
-
@Luceus said:
Devs should already be aware that tunneling and camping are one of dbd's biggest issues. There are complaints about it everyday and it's been the case for years. Now the real question is why hasn't it been actually addressed yet? Laziness? Do they not care? Do they think it's actually fine that way? (I don't think being this delusional is even possible so perhaps not it) HOW is it not their number ONE priority yet.
I believe the devs already said tunneling and camping are "strategies"

Ok so what you are saying is that killers shouldnt be allowed to try to win at all? If i have 2-3 gens up and i have 4 survivors up still, and i want to put little bit more pressure onto them i will tunnel at that point. If you DC because you werent allowed to have easy game and easy win... well that isnt the game being unbalanced or unfair..thats just you not handling defeat well.
The game is unbalanced if they are forcing people to leave the game or to commit acts that pretty much have no counter
Fix the balance and everybody will be happy
-
@Hannacia said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3303608#Comment_3303608
So getting hooked first you know its a loss? Sure sure... I've had so many survivors DC in the first 15 seconds of the game, well at that point it sure is a loss for the other 3 survivors.
Like i said stop giving excuses. I'm not fan of tunneling or camping but sometimes those methods are needed and im not talking about 5 gen tunneling/camping. Killers don't like you flashlighting, palleting, bodyblocking etc etc but hey ..those things are sometimes needed.
Well, you think tunneling and camping are needed, for what exactly? To win the game? If you want to sweat so much, then you should be thankful survivors are DCing. Easy game.

@Hannacia said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3303604#Comment_3303604
I play a lot of survivor and killer and i see this selfish entitled DCing all the time. Most of the times survivors just DC due to going down first in the match. How is that unbalanced? Stop with the excuses and stop playing the game and making it miserable for other players just because you cant handle losing/ or going to be hooked.
Killers mostly DC due to getting genrushed or looped so they get frustrated and leave, but in my opinion survivors DC just because they cant handle disappointments.
Like I already said, people leave the game because they know its already a loss. The killer can tunnel and camp if they want to, so whats the point of continuing wasting time with the match?

Weird. I noticed your key bind looked like you set it to a mouse button in the video. I have mine set to default (e), so I wonder if that's related.
You might try setting it back to the default to see if that's part of the issue. It's good feedback to the devs for bug reporting if that fixes it.
I tested with E and it worked. Only the mouse wheel doesn't, and only for Repressed Alliance. I had no idea this was possible. How can a single perk not be activated by a particular key bind? The problem is that I already got used to use the wheel for everything (Dead Hard for example). Not gonna change back to E.
Do you think its possible to report this bug? (When I say "possible" I mean would they care)

@Hannacia said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3303597#Comment_3303597
Only way to fix dcs is to let survivors win all the time or get killers they enjoy bullying and looping.
Many survivors DC due to what killer is or going down first. There is no fixing elitism and selfishness.
If the game is balanced I guarantee you DCs will be very rare
No survivors want to be downed and tunneling out of the game at 5 gens
Remove the possibility of tunneling and camping completely from the game and you will see the magic happening
-
I can't believe people really want maps to be smaller and gens to be closer to each other. Like, should kill rates increase to 75/80% then?
-
Instead of punishing people for leaving the game, how about figuring out the cause of all the dcs and fixing it?
-
It should not be nerfed
-
Survivors should die on first hook and they should repair all 7 generators to escape
-

I used Repressed Alliance several times yesterday without any problems. Though I wasn't using blast mine or wire tap in that build. So I can only confirm that it functions on it's own.
Last time I tried to use blast mine and repressed together, they both triggered on a single button press like your wire tap and blast mine do in the video. That was months ago.
I tested on its own, and it doesnt work still. I had to record a video with wire tap and blast mine just as a proof that I pressed the button

No

Just buff Myers to have tier 3 and tombstone basekit

The killer is holding the game hostage

Guys, thanks for the responses
I rewatched the footage and noticed something: in the 1st game only me and another teammate actually "kobeit", the third one had Deliverance. So it drops from 4 unhook to 3 in 2 matches in a row. Not that impressive anymore I guess?
But yeah, I think it was just luck.

If you have the print screen of the entire teammate build, check if they were running Guardian instead of BT. It has happened to me once, I thought I had the endurance effect for longer but in fact was the haste effect.

I imagine a bunch of them were just pointing out that double locker flashlight saves were, in fact, impossible to counter, lol.
As for the consistency of flashlight saves, they only got more consistent in timing, nothing else. They're still absurdly easy to avoid in the vast majority of scenarios, this change only made picking up the mechanic easier for new players, it's nothing to be mad at.
Oh but people are indeed mad

That's not the answer
Maybe the devs should investigate why people do not want to play the game?

Nah, if someone is killing themselves on hook at 5 gens I will do the same
