To be fair, any knowledgeable killer who intends to camp memorized how much is 16 meter already. The better ones also know how much closer they can go if they only want to secure the next hook-state.
For survivors who want to stay away it's pretty easy: it's exactly Kindred range.
Yeah its easy to assume the distance, thats why the extra help will not be helpful for both sides

I don't think any killer info perks should be basekit finding survivors should be part of the killers skill set.
That being said I could see an argument for bloodhound being basekit but I don't think anyone would care. For something more exciting make grim embrace basekit to encourage people not to tunnel.
Grim Embrace basekit to not encourage tunnelling is a fallacy, just like people said how old BBQ and Chilli was doing the same thing.
You can still tunnel the first survivor out, than hook the remaining 3 survivors and activate Grim Embrace, which makes it extremely oppressive . With old BBQ and Chilli was even worse, you could tunnel survivors back to back and still hook all 4 survivors and get the extra BP in the end.
Basekit perks do not discourage tunneling and never will.

maybe there should be a outline on the ground that extend 16 meters from the hook survivor. both killer and survivors would see it of course
thats terrible because the killer would just stay outside the line and wait until another survivor comes close
now for survivors is another story, maybe

Reading is hard. Pictures are difficult too, apparently.
I think a loading screen tip of 'please try not to camp' would be possibly more effective. Which is why I'm not a huge fan of 'base kit' mechanics.
Make anti camp perks effective and the problem solves itself (coughreassurancecough).
Honestly, the tips in the load screen are terrible
it should have something like "if a teammate is on death hook, try taking a hit for them"
and
"if you know the killer is close to the hook, try getting away as far as possible if you can't save them"
-
Just stop playing it, its better

@BlackRabies said:
Looks to be working as intended. Why should the killer leave the hook if your right there? No survivor deserves a free unhook. Even if a killer is right next to a hook the progress will still be greatly slowed if another survivor is nearby to prevent survivors from abusing it. In a different version of this test few years ago survivors abused the hell out of it. The grace period is there for the killer to not screw them over (ever played the PTB?) gives them a chance to kick a gen/pallet or reload at a locker and then leave without the bar filling up to %70 before the killer even has a chance to leave. Slowed down on different floors cause on certain maps like The Game, RPD, Silent Hill the killer player would get easily screwed over and be a free unhook.
It's an anti-FACE camp measure, not an anti-proxy camp or anti-spell camp. (Hag, Trapper, Singularity, etc)
Still need to keep the killer player base in consideration. How to keep a game mechanic fair and not abuseable for both sides.
"right there"

Years ago, devs tested a anti camp mechanic. Where the hook progress timer stopped when the killer was to close. Survivors then completely stopped the progress by simply looping the killer around the hook. Devs scrapped the idea and now brought us this.
It only works as good or bad as our community allows it to. I sometimes see my teammates loop the killer around the hook. Which only helps the killer.
I guess the Meg Bot is also somewhere nearby the hook. Because bots are well bots.
being in a different floor should not pause the progress

@Tsulan said:
You are to close. The meter fills to slow, because you are to close to the hook on the first and third screenshot.
Its to prevent survivors from looping the killer around the hook.

I doubt that, given that Knock Out is an incredibly rare perk to see anyone using. If slugging all four survivors in order to win was actually strong, you'd see it more.
It is strong, obviously depending on the killer. With Onryo and the right add-ons is the definition of GG
-
The fix is: make a better game
find out why survivors don't wanna play, and fix it
-
I'm 99% positive they tweaked this mechanic in the last update to be even more forgiving for killers and didn't say anything
also
The anti-camp mechanic is the best thing they have put in this game — BHVR
-
this game is so well designed, that a killer with Knock Out, Sloppy Butcher and some other combinations, and never hooking a survivor, its like 5x easier to get a 4k than actually playing the game as intended
-
SIngularity should have been a giant Mantis with an entire bug theme as a realm
-
Yes they are bannable
even changing the perk icons can result in a ban. Although they say its "allowed", if the anti cheat recognizes your custom icons and decided to ban you, they can't do anything. Those are their words, not mine. So I don't recommend changing anything.

The year is 20xx. The last 4 survivor players are choosing between a 105% for 2 seconds sprint burst and a 110% for 1.5 seconds lithe. the 8 required generators take 10 minutes each. toolboxes can reduce this by a maximum of 3 seconds with ideal addons. the killer meta includes a perk that permanently exposes all survivors and shows their auras. somewhere, a killer player is calling the game survivor sided because the survivors finished a whole generator before getting the 4k.
LOL
-
And here we go again
-
The nerf of distortion is
Killer has no aura reading add-on, perk or power? The survivor is playing the match with 3 perks
-
And I just realized... they are gonna give banners as Prime rewards...
-
@Pulsar said:
There can only be a punishment for tunneling.
There is NOTHING the Devs can implement that will be stronger than removing a player from the game in the first two minutes. Therefore, there is no way to encourage spreading pressure. Even if you made PR basekit and 25% for every Survivor not hooked twice in a row, people would still tunnel because removing someone from the match is STILL STRONGER
The only way to deal with this is aiming at the tally score
less bloodpoints
less xp
Yeah, players can tunnel and win, but at a cost of low income
thats the only way to "fix it"

SWF shold have a limit of which perks can be used. Having the same busted SWF perks (perks and combos like FTP + BU; Adrenaline, WoO, etc.) makes more situations insane when in a SWF. Perks gain a marginally large increase in value when with SWF and shouldn't be used in multiple builds. I always liked to have a team comprised of a Runner, a Gen Jockey, a Healer, and a Jack of All, that way it can be more fun and require more teamwork and accountability.
Not only good survivor perks are getting nerfed, now if you wanna play with your friends you wont be able to use the "good" perks
Gee, some people here really wants the game to die, no?
-
It needs many things to become at least above average
-Remove the range, make it show the killer's aura at any distance
-Teammates could also see the killer's aura if they are within 8 meters from you
-Maybe another effect for the teammate's scratch marks, like making it fade faster if you are close
Then maybe, maaaaaaybe people would use it more

SURVIVORS...
1) Survivor HUD
1.5) Additional stuff added to the Survivor HUD
2) Easier flashlight timing
3) Removed hook grabs
4) Anti face camp
5) Upcoming 3 gen "solution"
6) The entire Mangled mechanic being updated in the future, to be less frustrating for survivors
7) A possible FoV slider (the roadmap doesn't say "killer FoV slider" so survivors might get one too)
MEANWHILE, KILLERS...
1) Upcoming FoV slider, that might not even count as a killer only improvement, because survivors might get an FoV slider too
2) LITERALLY ZERO OTHER THINGS ANNOUNCED
SURVIVORS...
1) Survivor HUD (I already mentioned as the actual last quality of life for survivors)
1.5) Additional stuff added to the Survivor HUD (There is no additional stuff, everything was planned from the beginning)
2) Easier flashlight timing (removal of locker saves, plus its not much that "easier" if the player already knew the right timing. Killer's win this one. )
3) Removed hook grabs (which already downs the unhooker anyways, unless they have Mettle of Man or Dead Hard + Resilience + Desperate Measures. Didn't change anything for survivors)
4) Anti face camp (Like I said before, it didnt change anything, killers can still camp from a distance, camp from the entrance of the basement. It only addressed killer players that wanted to meme or make the survivor player miserable. Since the implement of the mechanic, I only used once, and saw being used once too. Nothing has change for survivors)
5) Upcoming 3 gen "solution" (nobody knows whats gonna be, highly chances of being a solution just as good as the anti-camp)
6) The entire Mangled mechanic being updated in the future, to be less frustrating for survivors (nobody knows whats gonna be either, can be something that benefits killer more)
7) A possible FoV slider (the roadmap doesn't say "killer FoV slider" so survivors might get one too) (1% of chance of a change for survivors. Highly doubt it)
Yeah, you just proved my point even further

Most games balance around people on comms. DBD thinks it’s special for some reason.
And they are already balancing it around SWF from what I can see
What was the last actual survivor quality of life changes? To me it was the new HUD info
Since then it has been only killer sided changes
Don't even mention anti-face camping mechanic because that doesn't help survivors at all

If the game hinders the SWF, the game will die
imagine being punished for enjoying a game with friends?
Never seen that in my life, an online game that you can't have the same experience if you are playing with your friends
Thats a first

It's almost 8 years can't we just accept that old chapters shouldn't be ignored?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3605968#Comment_3605968
Why? You say killers can't be unique? The music also tells survivors who the killer is through sound now it's like "Oh this killer is the same music as plague! Is it a trapper or pig?"
But my suggestion is to make the killer have a unique chase music, just one of the default ones
If every killer receives a new chase music, what happens to these 6 tracks them? I love these tracks, I still want to listen to them ingame
-
I rather these people to just leave the game and the match is forced to end fast, than they remain in the game and not actually trying, giving me the false hope of a good match
-
Considering they are gonna take 3 months to change STBFL, Grim Embrace, Quick Gambit, Shadowborn and Monitor & Abuse
3 to 4 months to change Sloppy Butcher
4 to 6 months to change Ultimate Weapon and Decisive Strike
I'm guessing there is only 1 employee working full time creating the code
(To be fair, Sloppy Butcher is gonna get reworked along with the mangled rework, who knows whats gonna be)
-
There are 6 default chase music
I think they should just give each music to the remaining killers and make it exclusive for them
-
I think BHVR should create an event for 1 week with forced random perks only
And to encourage people to play the game, double XP and bloodpoints during the week
-
Yochi's ugly sweater doesn't have a discount
I'm so mad
-
Is DBD the only online game that the community wants good players to be "punished"?
That's amazing

Someone posts about a bugged killer perk and you immediately flip it into completely unrelated survivor victimization and scaremongering. Impressive.
get real
-
Yes it is bugged
they are probably discussing right now whether this "bug" could be an intended feature of the perk or not, just like how Kindred should not show the killer's aura to you if you are on the hook
Survivors perks are getting gutted
Distortion next
-
People are missing the biggest factor
If the killer has no aura reading perks, Distortion is useless
This conversation is only up because killer players want the game to hold their hands and show where the survivor's are everytime, combined with the fact that a lot of aura reading perks are being released/buffed
-
Lol no
30 seconds to get a token is a lot

There is no solution
why should be a solution for people who play the game well?
-
Once Dead Hard and Made For This got their nerf, killer mains need to shoot at everything now
Waiting for the Premonition nerf because survivors knowing which direction the killer is coming is too op
-
Don't worry, eventually they will do it
All exhaustion perks are going to deactivate
along with
Unbreakable, Soul Guard, Deliverance, Second Wind, Resurgence, Reassurance, We'll Make It, We Gonna Live Forever, Made For This and maybe a couple more

Ah yes, the "killer sided" map I've been sent to by survivor map offerings over and over and over again.
still killer sided
if you can't have a good game in a "killer sided map" maybe the problem is not the maps
just think about it

Irrelevant. My only point was that it has multiple god pallets, nothing about the maps balance.
Break pallets to turn the map into a dead zone
And thats why the game is a killer sided map

Predropping 2 god pallets creates a dead zone? What game are you playing? Also, after that if they hold shift+w and run to a corner of the map even without using pallets or doing anything else its still gonna take you a solid 45-50 seconds to hook them.
Yes, creates a dead zone
-
I'm still hopeful we are gonna have a fighting game with DBD killers, kinda like Mortal Kombat
Dwight wearing a mech in the roster
Haddie and Mikaela with super powers
-
@sizzlingmario4 said:
Honestly even that would still be too much. One use per hook is still more than enough and that's often what ends up happening anyway with the current version.
The only thing that would really change is that it wouldn't be available at the start.
I think its a balanced change
-
@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3602852#Comment_3602852
You know what else is incredibly tedious? Chasing the first survivor for 30 seconds while they predrop multiple god pallets, you make a solid mindgame or 2 and down them. And then what happens? 3 gens immediately pop.
That also is tedious.
Then the map is a dead zone and chases are way faster
-
Just don't touch the gen that explode with Pain, for the most part
Nothing better than troll the killer by leaving the gen regressing
Seriously, there was a game once with the last gen at about 90% of progress and it exploded with Pain. I ran off but this solo queue teammate didn't realize the killer would definitely Pop the gen, they went to repair again. The killer came towards the gen and found the 3rd injured teammate. The killer downed them, picked them up, but dropped and kick the gen. Picked them up again, the other teammate touched the gen, the 3rd teammate died on hook and the killer went back to kick the gen again. 2 Pops in like 30 seconds. I don't need to say that gen regressed to almost nothing and we all died.
Just a tip, if the killer has Pain and Pop, just let the gen regress, unless they are very far away from the gen.

I mean, I agree.... 'cause that would essentially make every perk regularly used, and not a meta :P
Yeah, thats why removing the stacking is not too strong in my opinion
Even if a 4-men SWF using Leader, giving a 75% of bonus to each other (when they get close I must remember) is not that strong because the killer is not actually experiencing that bonus in some way, except if the survivors are healing. CoH is 100% bonus and stronger than the max 50% that Leader can provide when healing (only 2 survivors can heal the 3rd)
For cleansing and blessing, I mean, it doesn't happen very often right? Unless the killer has Plaything, Thrill, Pentimento... its not gonna make any difference
For opening chests, definitely not something a killer will be bother by. "Oh no, that survivor can open a chest 75% faster because all 3 teammates are close to them, Leader OP"
For gates, if a survivor can open a gate with teammates near them, I guess the game is already in favour of the survivors. GG?
Mending and killer belongings are just ideas to make the perk "stronger" than it should be. There is absolute 0 perks that can speedup those process. And to be honest, I would even put "recovering from dying state" as a bonus as well. Just the speed of course, survivors would still need to use a perk or the help of a teammate to get up.
But despite all these buffs, I highly doubt Leader would become meta, even more in solo queue. People want advantages to help themselves for the most part, Leader ain't that
