Nurse is really not that mobile unless she is on an indoor map. This is one of the reasons why I think she shouldn't be nerfed anymore, as she has really weak mobility compared to other killers and only her chase is strong.
the angled line is her distance when blinking, fatiguing, recharging, and blinking again. on the left graph the red line is her walking normally. The blue line on the graph on the right is the speed of a normal 115% speed killer compared to nurse blinking.
credits to my friend david on twitter.
thoughts?
2 blinks is the keyword there. You don't use 2 blinks for mobility, you use 1.

Because this seems like a complete waste of dev resources.

The one that doesn't have the breakable wall.

i've seen floating arounds twitter that you are not gonna have enough dark trinkets to get everything in the tome, as the tome doesn't give enough trinkets. is this true?
I'd be really surprised if that was the case. It looks like you need 1950 to get everything, and the current level gives i think it was 775 or 765 or something. So level 2 will need to give over 1000, or if they have some other way to gain them at some point.

Do you mean the house of pain? I would like to add Dead Dawg Main building and the windows in Garden of Pain. Also what is the infinited in Crotus?
The window in that is an "infinite" in the sense that, you have to force the survivor to entity block it to deal with it. Anything that requires entity block to deal with is an "infinite" in my book and shouldn't exist as it means that, in order to chase a survivor there, you basically have to throw the game or abandon chase. Good survivors know this, and will immediately run to this area creating a no-win scenario for the killer.

The garden of joy window is a map design issue, bloodlust is only a bandaid fix for that, we already agreed on that. The huntress will eventually catch up, also the majorit of the shift w stuff is without bloodlust anyway since you are most likely way too far away for chase to even start...
"huntress will eventually catch up". Not with MFT, it makes it a damn near infinite, meanwhile the other survivors are doing gens.

Wraith and Pig have Anti loop though... Wraiths lunge after uncloak gets an increase and is quite massive, enough to hit around smaller loops, and Pig has her Dash, while it is not that good, it is still antiloop...
Bloodlust is still a crutch against a single player, because you can basically force him to stay at a tile while you do nothing but getting that bloodlust up so you can get a hit around a tile where you should not have gotten one, or where too bad to actually outplay the survivor... That's why people call it a crutch, it is not about the 4v1, where I agree that it is designed so the survivor eventually goes down, but about the unfair thing of a survivor that did nothing wrong still going down because the killer was so bad he did nothing of value for 40 seconds... That's why people complain about it and why it is a bad mechanic, it rewards bad players and punishes good survivors, if they were bad you would not need bloodlust to get the hit...
As for why some of those killers get bloodlust and others don't the issue about Myers and ghostface is that they are stealth killers... Same as Wraith their "chase" power is to get really close to people before they realise you are there. You will still have people being bad on all those other killers with antiloop and they will also use bloodlust, the point is good players will rarely rely on bloodlust because it is such a huge time investment... You are basically saying, I am so bad at this game I will spend 35 seconds doing basically nothing to get a single hit...
Good try my man, but no ... Bloodlust is a terrible mechanic and all it does is give bad killers the feeling of success after they have been unable to accomplish something in chase for a while (and to counter their own bad map design).
In an ideal world killers would not have comparable strenght, because the skill required to play some of them properly is just so much higher than others, if Legion was as strong as Nurse, why would you spend time to learn a harder killer? The problem is about time investment, the amount of skill a killer takes to play properly/master should relate to how strong they are, Billy is a really hard killer but not strong enough to be that hard and so on... That's what I think a perfect game design would be, you can start of with a weaker character and at some point you need to invest time to get the results you want to learn something harder, ofc it could still be the same character, if all killers have the same depth and skill ceiling, but they don't and I don't think it is even possible, with how they are all designed.
How do you expect killers to deal with shift + w, or a slow killer like huntress who is being looped around a high rock that she can't throw hatchets over, or better yet, garden of joy window, without bloodlust?
-
@mecca said:
The skill required to play survivor is so ridiculously high that everyone on the teams has to be like pros. It's insane. Matchmaking will never fix that. Survivors need buffed in all aspects.
Buffing survivors will just make those top players unstoppable, you don't buff things because they are "hard" just as nurse isn't "balanced" just because she is hard to play.

thanks for the reseach, maybe on killer side but on survivor side it's absolute bs.
That's always going to be the case. Even Counterstrike has this problem with latency. It's what they call "peekers advantage". The person who peeks around a corner is going to have an advantage over the person who is around the corner. Because the person around the corner naturally will "see" the person peeking after they have actually gone around the corner due to latency. By the time they see the person peeking, on the peeker's screen, they already saw the person, and are shooting at them.
So, typically, games favor the person doing the shooting rather than the person getting shot. In an FPS, this works out ok, it feels worse to be shooting directly at someone, and not hitting them, even though you are hitting them on your screen, rather than the person getting shot at who sometimes gets hit even though they are behind a corner. It is just the nature of how the internet works. You have to take the least worst experience, and most people agree, it feels worse to have your crosshair on someone's head, pull the trigger, and not get a headshot, than it does to get killed while you are "behind a corner"
Now, in DBD world, this means that it is naturally going to favor the killer in most scenarios, because the survivor's aren't hitting the killer ever outside of pallet stuns. There are many times as a killer where on my screen i clearly should have hit the survivor, but they somehow pallet stun me.
TLDR: Survivors are always further away than they appear to the killer and the killer is always closer than they appear to the survivor.

Just because nurse and blight exist doesn't mean I don't find some aspects of certain kits balanced either. I'm just saying from my own experience the haste feels like overkill in most scenarios. But to be fair I dislike free, easily obtainable haste in general.
I think if you ask most survivor mains, they'd say they want nurse/blight dealt with before anything else.

it is not a matter of survivor hitbox anymore, the only difference with the healthy and injured animation is how straight I stand, so injured or healthy the hit remains bs no matter what. tho have you noticed how it NEVER happens with pyramid head? I wonder why with nemesis it happens, projectile logic maybe? less bugged/broken? idk.
That's not actually how it works. The hitboxes work like this:
So while running, your hitbox is actually a little bit behind you, because the hitbox is accurate for a "standing" survivor. It's even worse while injured because the survivor leans so far forward. So when you take that into account, as well as latency, that was likely a very clean hit from the killer's POV.
-
@ChaosWam said:
I'm enjoying her a lot as a stealth killer. The only thing I'd say is to tone down or remove the haste bonuses now, since drones inflict hindered anyway. I get enough surprise attacks to not really need the haste, in my own opinion.
Why are you suggesting nerfing a killer who is Upper B tier/Lower A tier at best when nurse and blight exist?

So, you agree Blight add ons need to go love that.
I'm a nurse main who thinks nurse needs to be reworked (not just nerfed). 2 things can be true at once.
I just think that right now there are 2-3 killers that are overtuned, 4-5 that are relatively balanced, and the other 20+ are unviable. That is more important and needs to be fixed first, so that we'll see a wider variety of killers. On top of that i think basing the game on kills instead of hooks/chases leads to camping and tunneling which isn't fun for anyone. I would like to see the AFC mechanic removed because it doesn't actually solve the problem of camping, and is exploitable by survivors. Instead i would like to see camping and tunneling fixed at a systemic level, if the game were balanced around hooks and chases, camping and tunneling would be less viable because you would want to get lots of hooks and chases, not camp someone to death.

The whole swf thing I also don’t care for comp dbd is ruining this game. Playing for fun with friends is fun love that. Just gunna pretend like she doesn't throw trucks huh? Does the hitbox need to be the exact character model? No that was horrible back in the old change. Does the hitbox need some shrinking? Absolutely. It's ridiculous that she can completely miss over top or behind and it still connects. Especially with how many great huntress I come across 😭
The hitbox on it isn't that big, its about twice the size of the hatchet in a sphere around it. The biggest problem you are seeing is 2 things. Latency, and the fact that the survivor hitbox when running, especially while injured, actually lags behind the model a bit.

Most stealth killers have a tell ahead of time or are slower (pig growl, ghostface shroud noise, wraith crackle) She's completly silent and can move full speed. She can easily go undetectable for a few seconds by throwing out a drone mid chase. And she has 2 addons that keep the undetectable up infinitely for traversing the map and jumping on someone else. (The one that lowers cooldown and the one that extends the undetectable duration). So just thought id see what people think of her vs other stealth killers. Since someone like myers and ghostface can expose you. Wraith has better map traversal. And she has antiloop, unconditional undetectable and all the other stuff drones provide (making people broken, hindering, speeding herself up, ect)
Ironically she's the only stealth killer that doesn't have footsteps that are loud as #########.
Seriously every stealth killer (or killer with stealth in their kit) has a super obvious tell that they are nearby.
- Wraith makes that snarling sound
- Ghostface has the wooshing sound
- Demogorgon has the loudest footsteps of any killer in the game, legit like you can hear them like 30 meters away.
- Pig dash has that screech and even not dashing and just m1ing you make a very distinct sound when she stands up.
- Myers breaths like he has asthma
- Dredge in nightfall is almost as loud as demogorgon
- Sadako makes that electronic tvish noise when she is near
The only one with stealth built into their kit that doesn't still make loud as ######### noises is SM at this point.

I've seen a lot of nerf Blight posts, but Nurse has been here for twice as long.
Nurse doesn't have any actual counterplay. Sure break LoS, she'll hit you with her second blink. It isn't even rewarding as she simply recovers in 5 or so seconds.
Nurse is much worse then Blight, so when is her nerf?
Would be great if nurse wasn't the only viable killer right?

I mean, I know that I will have a two-digit number of notifications tomorrow because many of you want to claim that Killer is not strong because you lose a game sometimes, but the Killrates are above 50%. This means that, despite all the mental gymnastics Killers on this forum go through, Killer is doing fine.
If you think that Killer is "not strong at all really", then you might consider that you are "not strong at all really" at playing this game as Killer?
I rarely see Killer Mains in this forum to actually admit that they do mistakes. Recent example was one who got mindgamed and said that the Survivors exploit the new, barely useful, Anti-Camping Mechanic.
Thats looking at "AVERAGE" games played. If you took the best killer player in the world for each killer, and played against the best survivor team in the world. Only nurse would win, and even that wouldn't be a guarantee.
I want it to be such that, if you played 10 matches with the best killer player in the world on each killer, and the best survivor team in the world, that each killer had between 4-6 out of 10 matches won. Obviously perfect balance is impossible, but 4/6 and 6/4 wouldn't be bad.

This is the point i'm making, survivors complain about all of these unfun killers, but none of them ever stop to ask which killers are actually fun for them. Each killer that doens't make you feel witch 0 options in a chase and killer's powers which is based on bloodlusting
Clown, Dredge, Knight, Artist, Doctor are killers that makes you with 0 options in a chase unless we have a connected loop
I also hate m1 killers because they are the same thing with a different model, they just walk and hit, nothing special
Every killer that makes you play different is good
So basically over half the killers in this game are unfun.
So i ask then, why do you play?

That's literally the purpose of the basement, it is supposed to be the most dangerous place for survivors to be near. The problem there was not the killer "camping" the basement, it was that the survivor went down near the basement to begin with.

please tell me opp isn't oppression... and BW 💀
I'm assuming
- Ultimate Weapon
- Oppression
- Jolt
- Pop
- NOED
- No way out
- Blood Warden
- Devour hope
- Plaything
- Ultimate weapon is hardly OP, i really don't understand it, there are so many better tracking perks. Combine lethal with nowhere to hide and you are gonna find everyone all the time whenever you want. UW has such a long cooldown too that it isn't really worth it that much
- Oppression, like really? Oppression? It is one of the worst perks in the game with an 80 SECOND COOLDOWN. I don't even think if they completely REMOVED the cooldown on oppression if it would be any good.
- Jolt only works on m1 attacks and 8% regression is so small. 8% regression is 7.2 seconds of regression. That doesn't even make up for the wipe animation (2.7 seconds) + pickup animation (3 seconds) + walk to a hook (8 seconds average) + hook animation (1.5 seconds) = 15.2 seconds. It doesn't even make back HALF of what you spend just hooking the damn survivor after you down them.
- Pop was already nerfed to be "current" progress, and then buffed up to 30%, which is a pretty decent state. Pop also rewards you for hooking a survivor and not camping, something i'd hope you think is good
- NOED has been nerfed so many times at this point that it isn't worth taking either. It gives you a single down in the end-game, and maybe RNG lets you secure a single kill. Big deal, you still lost the game
- No way out is another SUPER healthy perk, that ENCOURAGES you to NOT TUNNEL, something again, i think you would think is good right?
- Blood warden? Really Blood warden? Blood warden is a meme my friend, only person who sees any use out of this is Benjo for the memes
- Devour hope, again, encourages you to NOT CAMP THE HOOK, and it is a hex something you can cleanse, again if you weren't slamming gens as fast as possible and took an extra 10-15 seconds to look around to make sure no totems are lit you might not run into problems with this
- Plaything? Really? Plaything? garbage perk unless paired with pentimento, and even then good survivors just ignore it and finish gens anyway. So many killers are so loud you don't even need the terror radius to hear them.
-

So when do we nerf survivors since there are SWF teams going on big win streaks too?

@I_CAME said:
It's the same every match because 95% of survivor perks are terrible. Perks like resilience, windows, adrenaline, dead hard, etc aren't even overpowered and I can't believe people truly think they are. People use those perks every game because there are very few perks worth using. The only problematic survivor perks are MFT and the Buckle Up/FTP combo. Nearly everything else has already been nerfed into uselessness. Anything else is just people whining for the sake of it. Are we just supposed to run meme perks every game?
This is generally the case for both sides. Most perks in the game are very niche and situational, so generally people aren't going to take those ones, they'll instead take the ones that will work in 100% of the matches they play. Hence why both sides see maybe 10 perks that get used out of the 100+ we have.

The game is already made up for 95 percent paid content, and flooded with overpriced mtx based cosmetics and battle passes which if you miss, you might get the privilege of being able to buy a year later of you are lucky.
But now we are doing cosmetics only available for a little while at Halloween, Christmas etc? This is a attempt to pressure players into giving into their fomo and paying up which is degusting.
DBD has the most fair "battle pass" of any game, period. You only need to generally get 1 level per day. The challenges aren't time limited limited, so you could, in theory, come on the very last day with 0 challenges completed, and complete all of them. 1 level per day with the challenges is going to take you maybe an hour a day tops to play, and given that challenges aren't time limited, you don't have to actually play an hour per day, you could in theory play a few hours each day on the weekend.
On top of that,. if you buy the premium track of the battle pass and complete it, you actually get all of the currency you spent back. This has lead to me personally, only ever buying the first rift, and never purchasing another one ever. When new chapters come out, i use steam to buy them directly, and i just don't buy cosmetics.
I personally like battle passes and events, because they give me content for playing the game, and generally are a higher cost efficiency to get content than it would be if i bought the content directly.
In light of all that, if they want to throw some skins out there for a little FOMO, i'm all for that. It certain is far better than fortnite, or any other game out there even WITH the FOMO dbd gives.

Rework pros: they severely nerfed her 3 gen playstyle. That's a very positive change.
Rework cons: There's still zero skill expression whatsoever with her power. This is a skill-free killer. We shouldn't be designing powers that are this passive and easy to use. It will never, ever feel skillful or earned to be hit by or downed in relation to her power. This isn't even an issue of strength. It's just braindead gameplay where a much worse killer can down a much better survivor.
Not every power needs to be about mechanical skill. The macro game is just as important in DBD as the micro, i'd argue even more so. It is ok for us to have killers whose powers are designed around the macro gameplay.

There is no way I can’t avoid bringing this up, ever since yesterday there has been an increase in Singularity players 3-genning for me, have all the Skull Merchant mains switched to Singualrity to continue their DBD chess journey?
We have EMP’s to help, but I really love versing Hux when he is playing more chase oriented and not in this boring playstyle, soon people will probably complain about him and he will get changed (in someway) like Skull Merchant.
I love playing Hux as well and now I’m most certain that soon people will DC to avoid being stuck in a 3-gen match with him and refer him as “Chessularity”.
To the Singularity mains, how do you feel about this?
Well, now that AFC exists, when you hook a survivor you can't be near that part of the map, chases are balanced around lasting 45 seconds, that doesn't factor in the time it takes to actually start the chase, nor the time it takes to deal with the wipe animation, pick up animation, walk to a hook, and hook animation (which eats a solid 15 seconds after the chase ended). The fact that the other 3 survivors are spending 90 seconds on gens, meaning the first chase is going to lose you 3 gens.
What exactly do you expect killers to do anymore?

Some of the comments here make me think that new players wouldn't have survived old DBD, respectfully.
2 things can be true at the same time. It can be a bad and frustrating experience now, just as it was worse back then. You also have to keep in mind that back then everyone was relatively newer and less experienced back then, so survivors didn't exploit the broken things as good as they can now.
-

I dont think its the gen perks that need help, but most other perks are just so useless they can't be justified. "10 seconds of undetectable" ok if you catch a surviver not paying attention in that time frame (which never seems to happen). Why would I use a perk that only slightly helps 1% of the time, when I could be using a gen or aura perk?
To be fair, survivor perks have the same problem, they are all very niche and aren't usuable in every game. So generally people pick the ones that ARE useful all the time, like MFT for example.

Who says they were tricking the game?
@Reinami 's assertion is that the survivor 'exploited' the system by approaching shack and then leaving. But look at it from the survivor's perspective:
If you approach a hooked survivor, and the killer is headed your way, do you just bumrush the hook, or do you double back and try to lead the killer away from it so someone else can get a safe unhook?
Because to me, it looks like someone chose the latter. And it's Reinami who made assumptions about the survivor's actions and intentions.
And as someone else mentioned: this is not some four, five second deal either. Reinami must've stuck around for a -long- time.
10 seconds is not a long time at shack, where i was playing trapper, placing a trap, and then doing a moonwalk backwards.

you need to be kissing the survivor for 20 seconds to get it to go, and the further you are the slower the charge comes. like if you lost a survivor running around shack I'm almost tempted to assume the survivor got manually unhooked and you missed whoever unhooked them too
I don't remember exactly, maybe 10 seconds tops. At the time i was playing trapper and when i hooked the survivor, i grabbed a couple of traps nearby that area, and kicked a gen. Then the survivor did that and the survivor was able to unhook themselves. So those 2 things combined made it enough time for them to unhook themselves.

Sounds like you got outplayed.
I didn't realize it wasn't Anti-facecamp mechanic and it is actually "New mechanic survivors can use to gain an advantage in the match and mindgame the killer"

So your mistake is the survivors exploiting? What are they exploiting? Their brain?
So the Anti-facecamp mechanic is anti-facecamp and also "Add new mechanic in the game that survivors can use to mindgame" mechanic? I thought it was just to prevent camping, you know given the name, Anti-Facecamp Mechanic.

Yep. But I know that it was my mistake at this point.
My point in the post is, this was obviously an unintended use of the mechanic. And as expected survivors are finding ways to exploit it.

So you mindgaming yourself is Survivors exploiting it?
"Mindgaming myself" I mean, if someone runs to shack and i think they are staying there, is it totally unreasonable for me to attempt a mindgame, quickly realize they left, and then go after them? Has that literally never happened to you in the history of the game ever?

She is most definitely NOT dead. She has new life breathed into her. She is much faster and unpredictable now. Killers are probably trying to play her the old way; that no longer works. She is all about the chases now. Give players time to learn.

Look at the scoreboard of this random single match that was pulled where i was running a meme build but won't actually show video of the match to show that i probably hard camped/tunneled or the survivors played like absolute trash to prove that i am right and everything is fine.
Every time.

First impressions.
Already had survivors exploiting it, by running the chase near the hooked guy who was near shack making me think they were looping shack, but then they just run away. So i start trying to mindgame while they aren't there, meanwhile person unhooks themselves.
