  • You haven't seen many dc/hatch escapes, have you?

"NOED is a killers best friend". Holy shite, ######### is that statement.

I really hope this is bait or you are very new to the game. NOED is a really, really bad perk. Mostly because it's extremely powerful and completely unearned. I'm all for late-game powerups but NOED is just an excuse to get away with facecamping and/or getting kills you genuinely don't deserve. This is how most NOED games go (from my experience as a survivor): awful long chase (because the killer just eats pallets and doesn't mindgame), eventual down, hook, softcamp, survivor dies, gates powered, NOED, easy down, hook, facecamp, 2 kills. It is literally the same as a meta survivor perk, you play like an absolute wanker and get it for free. So dumb. At least SWF teams can disable it without throwing the game.

And that's without the detrimental effect it has on killer players that use it. Holy shite, your skill level will drop quick as you rely on your dumb perk. Congrats, you use a crutch. You're just like a survivor main.

NOED can be used for other purposes than just getting cheap kills (as you call it). It can be used as a surprise perk, the centerpiece in an endgame build, or used to round out a build you are testing.

It is less of a crutch and more of a backup plan. If at first I dont succeed, at least I have a reason to keep trying. It is why I love Rancor right now. With gens going so quickly, I need some reason to stay and continue playing.

Both sides get praised for playing in an annoying way. Monto when he plays killer or ayrun when he plays survivor they both bully the killer or survivor and get praised for it

One side more so than the other, but yes, both sides can be.

I didn't put the image in, since I wanted to give every character 2 images each to avoid over-clutter (save for a few exceptions like Steve / Nancy who were both grouped into the same poll option so they got 3, and characters who I just for the life of me couldn't find many options as I described in the thread itself AKA Quentin, Detective Tapp, The Pig, Demogorgon [who didn't see any images in this thread] etc.

However, I deliberately mentioned "Trench Coat Freddy" in the poll option for Freddy Krueger. This is the exact look he sports in Wes Craven's New Nightmare since a Trench Coat (more or less) is added to the classic Freddy Ensemble as well as a slightly different burned Face, different claws which are now attached to directly to his fingers with the noticeable addition of a fifth claw attached to his thumb, etc.

So I actually did include Wes Craven's New Nightmare, here are some images of what I was talking about when I mentioned "Trench Coat Freddy"

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/029/4SUUPI4RZZP1.jpg

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/456/JZQ8RDD9XDXW.gif

Keep in mind that I may not have mentioned every idea through the images provided or within the poll options themselves, they are merely just some cool ideas I thought would make fine potential additions. The overarching poll question is what licensed character do you want to see get more cosmetics / support.

I must have missed it... but I would have noticed sunglasses Freddy. : D

What a biased comment that translates to, "Buff survivors and killers, but also make the survivor buff pointless." Old Ruin being basekit would be an awful idea, the perk itself won games solely on it existing in matches regarding higher rank survivors unable to hit them. Having that sort of perk in every game would kill off the casual base for the game.

What, would you rather third seal be basekit? Skill checks as they are now require very little skill on the survivors part (R1 killer and R1 survivor, and have been for a few years at this point. I know what I am talking about).

It only slowed people down because the base mechanics never required survivors to get better, but rely on second chance perks (Adrenawin, BT, Exhaustion perks, and DS, anyone?). It is sad, since the role that is supposed to be tense and frightening... decides how the match is supposed to go. And act really toxic with community support on that front.

Either you have never played at high ranks, or you don't play killer.

Not bad idea I actually created a map in where every time a generator is on, it brings the map to life and with that it makes some of the loops harder like somethings going by the area is blocked off, then opens up again you know that kinda scenario

The game is the only map I can think of that does anything like that. It gets harder for survivors to loop since the map opens up more and more.

  • Yes and no. The hitbox is laughably smaller than Huntresses, but if you can hit them, you'll be good with him. However, there are times where you make impressive shots but don't get any reward because, unlike Huntress, you are not rewarded for doing that.

  • Or because he doesnt want to deal with autoaim shenanigans...

  • Frank: An orphan being shipped from foster home to foster home. His last one before the Fog was where he met and made the Legion.

Julie: Daughter of the Rich family of the area, she fell in love with Frank.

Suzie: Not much is shown of her past, same with Joey, but it seems to be like how you describe. She is a kleptomaniac, but stealing for her art a lot of the time. (Most info is from her cosmetics).

Joey: His family moved from the city, but he was never great with family gatherings. Hates Christmas, due to jealousy, so I assume a rough family life.

Hopefully the next archives covers all of them a bit more, but I don't think it will do all of them justice.

Definitely Myers. He's the only killer who actually has immense physical strength and power without the Entity's influence. Him and Freddy. The rest of the killers have to rely on the Entity's influence otherwise they'd be underwhelming and could be defeated by survivors like David and Ash. What other killers actually have a good record of multiple confirmed kills before being influenced by The Entity? Let me put it this way:

Trapper: Akin to Myers, but only due to The Entity's influence. Take Evan and Michael out of the fog and put them in a fight and Evan will be snapped like a Twig.

Wraith: He can sneak up on unsuspecting innocents, but good luck catching Michael off guard. Besides, Wraith is so skinny, Michael could literally snap him in half.

Hillbilly: Same with Wraith, he'd have to catch Michael off guard in order to land a hit with his chainsaw, and even if he did get Michael with the chainsaw, Michael would stab back and do way more damage.

Nurse: Too small and fragile. She might land a few hits on Michael but eventually Michael will learn to counter her blinking and probably grab her the next time she blinks towards him and from there it's stabbing time.

Doctor: Michael is just pure evil, not even evil, he just is. I don't even think evil is a suitable way to describe him. Michael is just Michael, no thoughts cross his mind, he sees someone, he kills, there is nothing to mentally affect Myers.

Ghostface/Pig/Legion: Myers could literally take them all on at once (yes a 6v1) with his bare hands. No further explanation needed.

Plague: Michael's immune system is probably as great as his strength, I don't think the vomit will do much except for messing up his overalls. Plague is tall but that's it, she has no natural strength, she completely relies on The Entity.

Huntress: Same situation with Wraith except she'd give out her own position with her humming. Michael would just dodge the hatchets and grab her by the neck before she even managed to lift up her axe.

Clown: His best bet is to just bombard Michael with toxins but I doubt they'd effect him much. Clown has a dagger. Michael has been unaffected by bullets. Clown ain't got much to defend himself.

Spirit: She's a spirit and Michael is human, so Michael is already at a disadvantage however, if the spirit can physically interact with the material world, Michael could easily fight back. Rage is a powerful thing but that can put her at a disadvantage. She'll be rusty in a fight and just swing wildly meanwhile Michael is calm and collected. It'd be a similar situation with Nurse I presume. They get in a few hits before Michael catches on and then he grabs em and stabs and game over.

Demogorgon: A teenage boy (Steve) almost killed him by catching him off guard and stabbing him with a spiked baseball bat. Michael would do the same except Michael would finish the job.

Hag: Same with Nurse, too small and fragile. Michael sets off a trap, Hag teleports and lunges, Michael grabs her and stabs her.

Leatherface: Bubba is very dangerous but clumsy. Michael could easily catch him off guard.

Oni: This would be a battle for the ages. Michael has immense strength and power, he's probably the strongest man to ever live except for Beowulf, no man could be stronger than him. Oni however matches Michael in height (might even be taller) and his way more muscular and is not human, he is an Oni, a demon. Even when he was primarily known as Kazan (when he was human) he could put up a dangerous fight against Michael. Kazan was a legendary samurai who defeated many other legendary ones. Now in his Oni form he is faster, stronger, and more powerful. As much as a powerhouse Michael is, the only way I'd see him winning against Oni is if he got the element of surprise, which he most likely will get. Either that or use the Oni's rage against him like Spirit. Let him get a few hits in, let him collect enough blood until he goes into demon rage and becomes more clumsy and pick off hits when he misses demon strikes.

Freddy: This would be Michael's toughest battle however, if Jason could defeat him, then so could Michael.

As far as the best and worst go:

    Best: Michael

    Worst: Legion or Pig.

Michael doesn't have any fear, does he? So that makes Freddy weaker already... A good breakdown, but I think the Nurse could still beat him because she can physically tear the realm apart. That is how she blinks. She could manipulate it to trap him in the ground if she really wanted to.

She also has telekinesis, as shown by her mori and general interactions.

  • For me, it used to be MYC, but now it is either: Rancor or STBFL.

Rancor: since the gens are flying, might as well get a mori out of my wasted time. Also, the information is underrated in my opinion. Since gens are going relatively quickly, someone who is hiding near me might get found because their team did a gen pop. So, their haste works against them to a degree. I usually pair this with Nemesis and Furtive and chase after the obsession all game for fun. : P

STBFL: It combos with Rancor relatively well, but I usually run this by itself with characters that I have fun with. (Exception being deathslinger, because I just hunt the obsession as him. I am here for fun, not being a tryhard).

  • The problem about this is that survivor toxicity is praised whereas killer toxicity is (usually) disparaged... a double standard that makes things much harder for killers, and drives them to be toxic regardless of the complaints of the other side, because they know survivor mains are hypocrites in this regard.

  • I agree with this although I wish dragging over pallets was a feature in basekit.

I need a medieval killer. I'm talking a knight in tarnished, ruined armor (something along the lines of the firelink set from DS3), broken greatsword, and the power relating around a prayer, specifically directly to the entity so you can smite survivors in the name of the spider god.

The radius itself is a cue. it literally tells yout the killer is near with no effort.

What you should be asking is whether the TR is reasonable to begin with. all killers have it as an innate weakness, informing the survivors the killer is near without effort or input from the survivor. they have a zero effort psychic ability at all times. and even the killers who are able to mitigate this a little bit can only do so with significant consequences.

If anything, the TR should be changed so it's only something the survivors can sense if they stop and use some kind of channeling ability or something, based on your standards of wanting input and effort.

That isn't the problem, the problem is you do not know when the Doc is channeling his blast. It is way too easy to use because there is no cue unless you are close to him before the shock goes off.

I like the idea about the TR though. Like being oblivious unless you want to actively listen for it.

  • I would love to see a medieval killer, either a Knight or a Plague Doctor. I think it would be really cool.

That or any one of my concepts (with live links in bold):

Pen and Sword (Medieval Knight killer)

Can't Fix the Broken (Modern killer)

    The Arrival (Slenderman chapter)

    Welcoming the Rapture (Robotic-Angelic killer)

I had a pirate chapter, but the harpoon device was basically used in Deathslinger so... That one is gonna have to retire, I suppose...

  • Monto made a vid about it. It’s a looney tunes joke, about the hunter and bugs bunny.

I just play deathslinger because I like him, not because of cosmetic jokes...

  • I mean, that is my complaint about doc, that there is no cue for survivors within his radius. It should be subtle but able to be heard... but right now, you can only hear it if you are close, and usually it is too late.

I smell sarcasm and bias here, lmao. DS for survivors sounds like a pain. I play both sides equally and I don't even like DS. Most of the times I'm too stupid to hit the skill check, or the killer is just too smart and will slug until the timer is gone.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1223294#Comment_1223294

Sounds good, in my opinion. Monstrous shrine is a waste of a perk slot, so making it basekit wouldn't hurt.

Borrowed time and Kindred would be great for basekit, actually.

BT if BT was nerfed to be smarter for use. Right now it is too braindead to use.

  • @Godot said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1223271#Comment_1223271

NOED would be too overpowered for it to be basekit. Seriously, who the hell wants to be exposed for the remainder of the match if all 5 generators are powered? This way the killer can easily camp one person, given that the perk wouldn't even be Hex anymore. This way the whole match is just ruined.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1223277#Comment_1223277

Old Ruin was nerfed/reworked because it was used in 99% of matches and it got way too annoying especially for new players who couldn't hit a great skill check at all times and who couldn't find totems because they didn't know the locations or they didn't even know what totems, although the latter is influenced by the fact that if they checked the tutorial or not. Many gamers don't look at tutorials, so there's that.

Old Ruin being basekit just means all you have to hit is great skill checks while doing generators, which makes no sense.

It was the only skill based gameplay in the entire game for survivors. The survivor mains whined and got it removed. It is very clear why Old ruin was taken out... but there was NOTHING to replace it... because nothing fixed the issue Ruin was a bandaid for, gen rush is a legit problem at higher ranks.

Maybe it is alright to have a skill curve for the match? That way people who are skilled actually get rewarded for being skilled but it isn't screwing over the one person who has to work against a team of 4?

And if NOED was basekit, people wouldn’t complain about another killer perk to nerf because survivor is ’’hard’’. It would make the endgame more difficult.... you know, instead of the easy 99% the door and leave strat.

Door progress decay would be another feature I’d want as well... but topic for another time.

  • Old Ruin should be basekit. New ruin can be a perk.

Kindred should be basekit, gives blindness addons/Third Seal a buff in the process.

  • I mean, every killer has at least 1 good teachable... but the best ones have to be:

    Discordance (Legion)

    Pop (Clown)

    Haunted Grounds (Spirit)

These perks will be useful in at least 1 point in the game. I would say Old Remember Me as well, when you could get 6 tokens for not tunneling the obsession (and each token was worth more), but right now it is very weak... and a topic for another post.

If you are reffering to multiple survs with a key each escaping each on their own, that would only work if EGC tirggered bc a gate was open. And then it doesn't change much. With my proposal it is not possible for multiple to escape when not all gens are done. Bc the hatch can only be opened with the key when it was closed by the killer before.

If you are just referring to the fact that the single last surv opens the hacth again you closed and escapes, whats the problem? You won't get your 4k alright, but you still totally destroyed the team with just a single person taking the "loosers track" to escape. And you even have the chance to prevent this by slugging.

Last man with a key. 1-2 gens done, you find hatch, close it, realize the doors are close to each other, go towards them, then the person escapes with a key because they followed you so they could find the hatch.

  • It is really not that bad. It will encourage you survivor mains (who only play survivor) to get better, to have skill.

  • I have most killers at least at P1 (with exception of Nurse, Wraith, Doc, Deathslinger, and Billy). I have Trapper, Huntress, Freddy, and Legion at P3. Hag, Bubba, Myers, and Spirit at P2.

Survivor side has only two prestiges: Laurie (P2) and Tapp (P1). I want to get Jeff to P3, but that is it. I play more killer, so I put more points into them.

It was like a Asian looking map with the big building in the middle. I can't remember the name of it. I've already tried to change settings but this map is way to dark and I was unable to see anything.

Yamaoka is famously dark. I will not play on that map. Other maps aren't nearly as bad as this.

  • The Entity is a Lovecraftian god. We have already known this since day 1.

The thing that we did not know is what @Mikeadatrix has just pointed out: that people will escape it. That killers have escaped it.

This would bring out interesting possibilities in the future: Where are these characters going to? What are the killers going to do? Are they brought back to their time? Or their own world (Multiple universes exist confirmed by tome 2)?

    So many questions open up.

  • I mean, I came up with a vampiric survivor concept once. But I think they keep it limited to humans because it would be more relatable in the horror setting they want to establish. Unfortunately for them, the devs messed up that part, because survivor hardly feels horrifying to play.

  • They did not predict that it would be used with Infantry belt.

Seems kind of stupid to justify something like that, seems like it'd be pretty easy to couple the surrounding wall with the window. i.e. Window? Wall! No Window? No Wall!

But hey, guess logic and reason shouldn't matter if you're good and justifying poor development choices is okay since it doesn't affect anyone else

He is not saying whether or not that decision on the devs part was a good or bad one. All he is saying is, learn the map you spawn into early on in the match so you aren't screwed over like you were.

people dont like playing against spirit because of her lack of counterplay, its the same with slinger theres no visual indication when hes going to shoot you have no time to react and its just guessing when he decides to shoot which just makes it boring, it just feels to cheap

That is blatantly wrong. Deathslinger has an indicator for shooting, he has to aim down sights. He also is bad with weird geometry.

  • No, I don't like that change much. Ive been robbed of too many people who just follow the killer then open the hatch after they close it. Even then it is unfair to the killer.

  • They go back to the campfire, to prepare for the next trial. Only if they are completely demoralized, as if they have no more hope to give, do they go to the Void.

  • I assumed it was addressed to the Entity (since that is the only god-like being they can pray to).

The Void is a separate dimension that is basically just that: a void. The Entity uses it to discard of beings that have no more use. Survivors with no more hope, and killers that are not useful to it. Eventually everyone is sent there.

The White ward is just saying, cut me a break, don't send me to a hell worse than this one.

    @SpookyStabby addresses this quite well.

  • It isn't really a big problem, since you can hear where they are going (even easier when they are injured) and follow them by sound. That's if you don't bait out the flashlight.

  • Never, mainly because the survivors were probably looking for that to begin with, so it isn't worth it.

  • @Dccrasher said:

Because they are too OP. Why should a killer have a secondary power? OP perks are already their secondary power.

Why do you think they are OP? They have clear counters.

Bubba: hug walls and corners. Vault windows if you can. He'll never be able to use his chainsaw.

Plague: Stealth and being aware of when she has her Corrupt vomit and using large geometry. She is also weak to pallets and must respect them when with Corrupt.

One has a braindead counter, the other requires you to actually be mindful of how you chase. You can loop Plague normally when she doesnt have Corrupt active... It's not that hard.

  • Don't worry about pips. They're dumb and not going to be worth much. Focus on Fun or points. If you get a lot, good job!

    It's really all about mindset.

Right back at you with Plunderer's and chests. Besides, as long as one exists in the game, the possibility of a free escape for any survivor (even all of them) is available for no effort (you can't call dedicating to gens effort, especially not right now).

    Yeah, this game causes stress...

  • The Entity is luring killers to his hideaway anyway, so it is not like it wants him there. It could be a killer trying to convince him to come outside (Blighted skins exist, or it could be a new killer. They've mentioned plenty of possible killers within the Archives and past lore already).
