MFT Meta - v exciting
@WilliamSN said:
Personally, the only perk that still surprises me , and doesn't at the same time, is self care, I wouldn't expect a global 15% to still run the noob trap perk.
Its been known for quite a while that survivor meta is a MFT+Resi variant with the most popular being, WOO+MFT+RESI+Adren.
People tried using the previous stats from april 27-august 5 to claim "MFT Isn't that big of a problem" meanwhile the perk "officially" sky rocketed to second place, only behind WOO , in the span of 20 days.
All in all, the official stats are still relatively close to Nightlight stats and lets us know that even though nightlight doesn't include "100% of the data" its still a very good place to go to if you want to see what perks are most commonly used.
We're literally in a MFT meta @[email protected] could have guessed?!
I use Self-Care and do better than a lot of people, I assure you (SC/WoO/Overcome/BK).

Does it only affect the game or is your connection compromised otherwise as well?
Because, if it only affects the game, then it can't be a DDOS, right? It does sound suspicious though, that it happened multiple times a night.
Seems like it's just a hack that lets someone disconnect a player at will.

Isn't that just DDOS-ing? I honestly thought the devs had this under control.
I dunno - Multiple times in one night is a bit nuts, though,
@HarlockTaliesin said:
Yes. It doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen. It's fairly obvious when it does.
It typically happens to killers, and the same ways. The match is going about 50/50 or the survivors are ahead. Something happens that causes it to snowball in the killer's favor.
1. You're about to run down someone who's on death hook. Survivor suddenly starts running in a straight line and your swings pass through them. You can't use your killer's powers.
or
2. You're carrying a survivor to be hooked for the third time but can't interact with the hook or drop the survivor.
You're kicked to the scoreboard with an error like "network is not responding" or a disconnect error. All survivors get a free win. Killer loses everything and gets a DC timer. In some cases you may suffer other issues, like not being able to connect to anything online for a while, or have to call your ISP to have them reset your connection.
It used to happen so often that I had to get a VPN to help out preventing it. It's not perfect, but it's done wonders so far.
Seems fair :(

"my meta perk" I made my own meta. i think Breakdown is a very strong passive perk, but majority survivor only like "runner-build" like Windows of Opportunity, Made For This, Resilience, Exhaustion Perk, Decisive Strike etc anything that help them keep running.
MFT/WoO/Resilience/Adrenaline is a popular build because it plays the game for you/is completely passive.
You'll see it a lot if any of your killers are on the cusp of regular - sweaty MMR.

From September 15th to September 26th (11 days), I managed to progress 48 tiers, while working at least half of those days, preparing to return to Uni, and playing other games. I'd argue that it realistically isn't that grindy (anymore), especially since they increased the Fragments gained via challenges, completing Tome levels, and decreased XP needed per Fragment from 800 to 500.
I wouldn't complain if they made it even easier, but they have to have some challenge there, or else people will easily reach Tier 85 and stop playing until the next major content drop. Plus, I'd argue there's certainly better things to prioritise resources into right now, such as the long-awaited reworks to Twins, Myers, and Freddy; map rebalancing; perk changes; and serious add-on changes. Every change has an opportunity cost, where the resources to make that change could've been better spent elsewhere, and I'd much rather they focus on making those changes instead.
Agreed.
DBD has one of the easiest battle passes to complete in the business.
I don't play a whole lot these days, but I've completed every battle pass to date and only paid once.
There's ALWAYS multiple 2x xp/shard events throughout the life span of each pass and the first 2/3 levels of each tome are easy enough to complete without any crazy grinding or issues in most cases.
I play A LOT of games....an embarrassing amount, tbh, but DBD 100% does its pass in a pretty chill way.

I think bleed outs does not increase your kill total. So just going for bleed outs make your stats look very bad.
If bleed outs do not increase MMR, people can intentionally farm weak groups then bleed them out to grief/kill them without changing their own MMR.
-
@Nazzzak said:
This topic has come up before, and I always assumed it didn't but apparently data mining confirms it does (someone informed me once). I've actually said that I think a good way to disincentivize slugging is to make bleed outs not count as kills/count towards MMR. Won't stop it obviously, but people might be less inclined to not care about people spending the game just laying on the floor if there was a disadvantage to them as well.
If they didn't count, you could just drop your MMR (my Wraith MMR is pretty negligible as I use him for tome stuff/let people go), get as many BP as you want off a weak group via hooks/chases/etc, then slug them all until death - repeat as desired.
Not counting slug deaths as kills would be hugely problematic, imo.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3538247#Comment_3538247
yes they do. like 2 years ago, there was a dev q&a twitch stream that described how MMR works. basically your MMR goes up and down based off whether you escaped through an exit gate. dying on floor is not escaping through exit gate so your MMR is decreased. there was only 1 exception. that exception is the hatch. if you escape through hatch, you get no mmr increase or decrease.
The emblem system is its own separate system. it is mostly bloodpoint gain system for playing the game over time. it tracks some events in the game and gives you pip or depip. I would just call it morale system. if you do a lot of good morale stuff for entity, you get bloodpoints. nothing more.
That is what I thought - any kill = + for killer / - for survivor. Yet I see people arguing against it, as linked above, stating that they have also seen video proof of their claims on hacked accounts.
I know it is like beating a dead horse, but I enjoy investigating such claims >:3

@Krazzik said:
BHVR has stated that kills increase a killer's MMR. They're never really defined 'kills' but since they're using the word 'kills' and not 'sacrifices' I'd assume bleedouts/moris/hour-long games do increase MMR.
I'd assume so, too, but @Melinko and @apathyinc have brought up some interesting points in this topic, particularly about a video showing an MMR tracker:

I think several people have already answered this question for you now.
So, care to revise your standpoint.
Bleedouts don't count for achievements or pips nor do they impact MMR. The MMR side I have seen and I'm not going into too much detail because I don't want to promote this person or these cheats. However, you can find people on youtube who are using cheats in DBD and one of those cheats allows you to see the mystical "MMR" of any player in the lobby. There has been videos of people showing MMR being impacted by kills vs hatch vs bleed out.
The Devs may never comment on the mystery that is MMR, but videos with illegal cheats have shown MMR not being touched by a bleedout.
Why are people that datamine the game stating the exact opposite?
-
@Crowman said:
The only things the devs have stated that don't count towards mmr is hatch escape.

The wiki is wrong about this and the devs won't answer the question even if you tag them directly. I have tried.
A while back, the devs changed the end game killer rating screen to only give Merciless Killer ratings when a 4K happens. If you bleed out one survivor you won't get Merciless Killer, the game does not count the bleed out as a kill. Bleed out all 4 and you get a Brutal Killer rating, or 0 kills.
If you look at some of the old videos the devs put out they talk about MMR and how it is based on the simplest formula, Kill or Escape = MMR up. If the game isn't counting bleed outs as kills, MMR isn't tallying them as kills either, and is more than likely counting them as losses.
There are some killers with thousands of hours in the game who bleed survivors out every match, and unsurprisingly they continuously go against survivors who are new to the game or only have a couple hundred hours max.
So back to the devs answering the question. They aren't going to answer the question because bleeding out survivors every match is an easy way to lower your MMR while making the other side miserable and they don't want it advertised.
Interesting.
Can @Peanits confirm?
Seems like an easy exploit as you could just juice survivors and bleed then out, getting easy games and massive BP gains.

Accordiing to Wiki...
yup we are now quoting wikipedia.
Meanwhile on this very forum, there is a thread where it was confirmed by the devs that bleed outs don't count for adepts/challenges. It was changed, because they realized killers were using it as a way to get it done and it wasn't the purpose of the timer.
The game counts 4 bleed outs as a win for killer and raises their MMR accordingly.
The game counts any death as a loss for survivor and decreases their MMR.
If the killer bleeds out 4 survivors, what do YOU think happens to the killer's MMR? What do YOU think happens to the survivor's MMR if they die via bleed out?
-
Feel free to tag a developer/mod and ask them if a 4 man bleed out counts as a win for the killer and a loss for the survivors.
This topic may also help:

According to the wiki, killers go up if survivors die by any means. That's easy. On the other hand, ALL survivors have to escape. Shouldn't killers have to sacrifice all survivors at least?
Just because you wish it wasn't so doesn't mean it isn't true.

@Melinko said:

LOL..
Seems like some people aren't "mentally equipped" to handle someone out-playing them and getting out via the hatch.
So, the survivor should just lay in place and do nothing so you can maximize your points or grade gain... so you play out to completion but you expect them to sit in once place for 4 minutes and go AFK so you can do your thing.
If you want the game played out then play it out. That means complete the killer objective...hook and sacrifice. Not bleed out.
I don't have to hook anyone to win or complete my objective of killing all survivors.
I can win every game by slugging exclusively for bleed out if I really wanted to play that way - I don't, personally, but the option is there as are the mechanics to allow it.
If you're saying a hatch escape is an 'out play,' what would you call preventing said 'out play?'

@Melinko said:

How is it awful?
It literally is an achievement and meant to be a challenge. Taking a short cut by slugging is kinda lame and as I said, I'm super glad the devs took away the ability to get the achievement via bleed out. Seems the devs also agree that it isn't appropriate.
The devs must also agree that slugging for the 4k is the best way to get these as it bypasses the hatch/auto loss of the adept.
They must super agree as you can slug someone, look for the last survivor, fail, hook the 3rd within seconds of bleedout, and still have an advantage in the hatch game.
They must omega approve as you can just stand on the hatch until server kills the game.
I'm sure you can see the flaw in making such claims.

For the last two years I only bought cosmetics to make my characters harder to see when in a bush (this is not a joke). Characters that hide well in bushes are David, Haddie, Dwight. So I stuck with their basic cosmetics and stuff I got from events ect.
Now I'm playing a mix of support and looping, so I decided it was worth getting something interesting for Haddie. Up until now she was stuck with the ugly Christmas sweater.
Yeah - It is nice to see some Haddie love.

DBD is one of the only games I get the pass for each time...only paid for the first one....all the rest are 'free' by completing the previous one.
I don't play as much anymore, but there are ALWAYS extra tomes, 2x XP, 2x Rift Shards, store codes, etc that make getting to the end pretty easy.

that's simply one example.
But let me ask you a question. Why does this game need a solution to facecamping. Is it because facecamping is an effective strategy? Because i'd aruge not, facecamping, against a team that knows how to deal with it, is pretty much a loss for the killer. It isn't a "good" strategy most of the time.
So then why fix it? Well, because people still do it. But, we have already proved they don't do it because it is effective, they do it because they can.
So lets look at the "unhook yourself" mechanic. How exactly is that going to solve the problem. Sure, it "punishes" the killer. But, as i said, you unhook yourself, and they wait out the 10 second timer, or just hit you immediately, then chase you down and hard tunnel you out.
Was that really that much more fun than just getting facecamped? I'd argue that people are still gonna rage about it and DC because it isn't going to actually stop the problem. Is it going to let you at least play the game a little? Yeah probably, but you are still gonna get camped and tunneled out without being able to really do anything anyway. So you'll still be just as mad about it. So it doesn't really solve the problem.
I'm interested to see how people on both sides break the new mechanic on the PTB.

No one should ever reward toxic behavior.
It's why I love that the Devs don't count a bleed out for a 4k achievement. Again, earn it. Play smart. Keep track of your hooks. If you are that desperate for the 4k, hook everyone twice except for one person. Start eliminating those on death hook. When you have two left, down the one that can be saved. Hook that one and you have plenty of time to look.
Even if the killer picks me up and hooks me, I'm staying in the game for the full two minutes while the other person hides in a locker or w/e.
Don't want to promote hiding for hatch or self-killing on hook.
After all, these things are toxic and should not reward anyone.
Of course, they can always just run up to the killer while I am on the hook or even unhook me, which also amounts to them doing the same against any decent player - No idea why they'd waste that entire 2 minutes with such shameful behavior most times.
Truly deplorable behavior that wastes everyone's time.
-
If you see the killer is playing for the 4k and you're concerned about time being wasted, you can always run up to the killer as the last survivor and offer yourself up, ending the game immediately - no hatch, no slugging, no egc.
I don't see this becoming a popular choice, though.
-
Very amusing topic with some very amusing replies.

That doesn't really address the problematic aspects of the perk. I see MfT almost every game, and I can probably count the number of times I've seen endurance from it on one hand. That's not why people are running it.
"M1 killers are terrible, so they won't have to worry about a good perk" is a terrible argument. I don't know what my MMR is, but I've run into four-man SWFs all running MfT who have gotten gens done in six minutes with no slowdown perks on my part, and they're very hard to deal with. (Not impossible, but hard. I can run the most broken builds in the game, and getting a 2K is a struggle against those guys.)
I think that BHVR is currently trying to encourage some kind of "speed meta" by giving survivors a broken perk and forcing killers to deal with it somehow, but nobody's running the intended killer counter perks, because they suck. They lose stacks when you swing, require you to give up bloodlust entirely for the entire game, only activate long enough to kick a few pallets after a gen pops and you're already losing, etc.
If anything, they'll drop it to 1-2% and keep the Endurance. I also wouldn't say no to keeping it as it is, but making it a Boon totem with map-wide effects. Then it could be stacked with Dark Theory, which would be interesting and powerful, but would also make it counterable.
At any rate, I don't hate MfT half as much as I hate For the People/Buckle Up. I can deal with MfT if I absolutely have to, but that combo is broken.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3536872#Comment_3536872
Yes, but it's telling that everyone was complaining about it on the forums this time before he made the video. Usually, it'll be me and like two other people here saying that a perk is good (Eruption), and everyone will disagree with us until Otz makes a video, and then suddenly the entire forum turns into a river of flame.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3537071#Comment_3537071
So you're one of the two others, then.
Because, no, when that perk came out, everyone here dismissed it as a joke and said it was terrible and nobody should ever run it, same as they did with CoB/Overcharge.
Also, you're dead on about Self-Care. That's another perk that's actually good (at least when it gets combined with Botany and Desperate) that gets dismissed out of hand around here.
I use Self-Care/Overcome/Windows of Opportunity/Botany Knowledge as my main build and do very good as a solo player.
Also a pretty good build for newer players as all the perks pretty much play the game for you/enable you.
