Haven't watched dev stream for years now.
I see it hasn't changed much. Back in 2016 it was like that too, but also lore was non existant back then (they didn't establish anything and tried to hide it behind "that's a secret/entity works in mysterious ways").
So not only most gameplay related things were ignored, lore based questions were "We cannot answer it at this time" or "because <Improvised bare bones and overly generalized answer about lore that barely touched the subject>".
-
Well, I just call it ab-use.
But god, this topic further made believe that English language is one of the most illogical languages in the world in terms of spelling.
Why the same word has two different ways of spelling besides no visible change to its letter structure?
Not that it matters, most words in English don't match the alphabetical pronunciation anyway. Practically having to learn how to spell each word anew. This is bizzare.
-
It is a charm...
I literally forget about their existence unless I play the game and I hook someone and notice dingling bits on hooks, because I equipped some months ago.
Charms are probably one of the worst cosmetic items I have ever seen in any game.
Only worthwhile may be glowing ones to see your hooks from afar, but even then, they are all meh.
I don't even pay any attention to charms on hooks when facing other killers.

You are right with your whataboutism, having to use rice flour for pancakes is disgusting. I hope they change it in the next season, you summed the reasons for it nicely.
Back to the topic. I luckily had my game crash anytime someone used a Haddonfield offering, dunno why.
Other than that, this map ALWAYS been the best example of the worst map, universally hated by the community besides the few who loves seeing the world burn.
Bloodlust or won't help you much, as there can be tiles that even with BL3 you won't be able to catch a survivor for minutes.
-
@Leachy_Jr said:
I mean, due to the reduction in killer players it should show the devs that bloodlust is still kinda needed. They should look at why killers don't want to play without BL, which is because of bad map design and loop chains.
(Expecting a certain content creator fanboy/girl to say "killers need to learn without BL and git gud")Personally, I'm only playing deathslinger, like I normally do. I still most certainly feel a change though, I feel like chases against good survivors are taking a slight bit longer. I think there will still be enough stats for BHVR to take away from, not like it'll mean anything as majority of their stats are flawed in one way or another.
If anything this test shows that BL isn't needed and some tweaks to the maps instead is more than enough.
Haven't noticed much if any difference by playing as Trapper, deathslinger, blight, demogorgon, wraith, Billy, legion nor doctor. Only slight annoyance was with huntress but that's because survivors burnt the game offering twice out of the three games I played as her in high ranks (purple red, mm sucks anyway, as always).
The way I play I barely ever got BL1 for longer than just a few seconds at best, don't remember the last time I had BL2 and especially BL3.
When not playing, been binging few twitch games, noticed similar experience. The more experienced the killer player the lesser impact it had on them, to being unnoticeable.
There still are few map tiles that are problematic, but removal of bloodlust will more likely speed up fixing these tiles, as it will be easier to see how broken they are.
On the other hand, playing as a survivor was much more relaxing than before. Not having to worry about a killer getting high bloodlust just because he chased someone else and switched to you after 40 seconds of initial, uninterrupted chase and you bring nowhere near any pallet, because someone wasted all of them.
I'm happy they decided to test it, as we can finally start seeing better game changes, such as bl removal, less/more pallets on maps that need them. Window tweaks, removal of the failure that breakable walls are.
-
I stopped watching mid first loop around the car.
Dude, the hell are you doing?
You literally prolonged that loop by YEARS.
Just follow Steve while moving tighter to the object, you were circling it so wide as if you were afraid of cutting yourself on the corners.
Why bother with a shred on a short damn loop where survivor can quickly get behind a corner and deny it...
Don't take it badly and personally, but you played exactly like a player who gets carried by bloodlust into undeserved hits. You did a lot of mistakes on just one loop very simple and short loop.
If anything, this shows you have to learn how to actually play the chases and not rely on bloodlust to get most of your hits.

Not saying it can't be exploited in any way, but that wouldn't work as well at high ranks if it ends at the start of a chase. Those begin at ~20m, and if they try to moonwalk that entire distance and you can't avoid them, then they can play blind. Also, you can still just drop a pallet.
Well, they can do that and you can see a glimpse of a survivor and not trigger the chase...
Not sure if you remember first release of legion.
Following sounds and scratch marks when moon walking isn't hard and you quite often rely mostly on sounds when playing against better survivors.
-
The issue with your suggestion is:
Moonwalk
Look into the ground
Look into the sky
-
I want a bug and game balance fixing killer.
It is completely invisible, you cannot even select it in the game but once it gets released game actually becomes an enjoyable experience instead of a "love&hate" experience we currently have.
In other words, less shovelware content and more quality passes!!!
-
As a matter of fact it is indeed healthy.
Blood lust is as archaic game mechanic as trapper's default kit and should have been changed years ago.
If we remove blood lust we can finally see some sort of proper level design changes, reduction in the amount of pallets, slightly more playable as solo survivor, because pallets won't as necessary to save yourself because some boosted SWF dud just threw half of them already, and you need one to remove blood lust 3 from the killer who just holds W and follows your steps 1:1.
Besides, whenever I play as a killer (usually m1, as I despise meta stuff), chasing someone long into blood lust 1/2 category is most likely going to end badly for me. None the less 15 seconds of chasing usually ends with a pallet break and either continue to another pallet or switch target.
Blood lust RARELY plays a major role in my chases as m1. It However does help a lot when it does happen and I over commit to a single chase. Still more often than not it is being reset on a pallet that needs to be broken.
P. S. F$#k breakable walls.

Didn't Dead Space 2 have kid necromorphs and even exploding babies?
Victor's age shouldn't matter because he's become a monster who wants to kill/sacrifice you. On top of that, he always respawns when he's been roundhouse kicked in the face anyway.
As a matter of fact all dead space games had children of various ages in them as enemies.
Won't give any links to said monsters (wiki page), because apparently dbd is 8+ game from what you are all saying, thus gore may be censored. I don't want any kids to be demoralized.
AFAIK the 3 most memorable were:
Lurker, an infant (yes, a freaking few months old baby) that was climbing walls and jumping on your face. Also shot at you with projectiles out of its 3 tentacles from afar.
Crawler, another infant, disformed and twisted like from an old Exorcist movie. It was moving on all four legs and basically exploded once killed or near you
The Pack, this is the one you are probably talking about. Just a simple child of 6-9 yo that ran at you... In a pack of others same necromorphs, hence the name. You encountered them in ds2 for the first time in the elementary school district
Also, there was a pregnant necromorphs, either tied to a wall and birthing enemies out of its belly or walking ones that did the same once their belly was damage/ were killed.
NO ONE MADE A FUSS OUT OF IT.
For some reason it is a taboo thing in dbd, sjw/pc mentality I guess.
Victor is technically and practically a [REDACTED], there is no denying it due to how physiology and psychology works. But does it really matter at all?
If they would want to really censor it, just freaking change Victor's lore to dying just before being taken by the entity, so both of them are technically the same age body and psyche wise, then change his model to be a torso only body, without legs... Will work the same and be more creepy, because undead babies are so 2010 in terms of CrEePy.
None the less, I don't see any issues with it.

Because Trapper's power is very old an is in dire need of some updates. Fun fact : you are completelly immune to his traps for several seconds after wiggling off his shoulder.
That's because back in the old good days of 2016 and early 2017, some people were enslaving a single survivor, trapping all entrances to a room or even standing next to a trap and letting a survivor to wiggle off straight into a trap, just to be grabbed out of it and repeat the process.
It was mostly used to punish survivors who abused infinites, because devs thought "It takes so much skill to pull off anything resembling an infinite.", also commonly known as holding shift+W and pressing space bar every 15 seconds. (2016/2017).
If you are complaining about DH going through a trap and prolonging the chase, the same thing can be said about DH prolonging a chase against any other killer when they use it to gain a distance. That's what this perk does.
Instead of trapping an obvious spot, trap sides of the loop instead... There isn't really a problem with that.
As I said, if survivor used it mid loop, it was your problem of not anticipating it by switching the direction or trapping sides of it. If “hurr durr 3 trap basement shack", tough luck, only dh can allow survivors to escape that setup.
-
No need to. It is one time use in chase and if used in a loop, just go in the other side so they dh into you instead.
All the trapper needs right now is just starting with 2 traps as default instead of just 1.
If you meant trapped basement and someone dh through a doorway, well, tough luck.
-
Well, you can do the math yourself.
You get max amount of xp per match once you hit 10 minutes of game time.
This is 550 xp per 10 minutes
300*2 once per day for playing each side.
Emblem bonus is miniscule, it isn't worth taking into consideration at all.
This and thanks to the wiki, which says you earn around 250 shards per hour. It would take you 8 hours to get 2000 shards... 8 hours of pure game play.
It is much better to use BP to get perks off characters that can be bought with iri shards.
It takes at max 1.500.000 bp to get a character from 1 to 50.
You can somewhat reliably get 90k bp per game (killer of course, BBQ + 100% offering), which would require you to play around 16 or 17 games, which may take you around 4 or 5 hours to get through and unlock... 3 teachables rather than just 1 per 8 hours of pure game play.
Because there is also a lobby and loading time, a downtime between games can be as much as 5 to 10 minutes, which drastically increases the time to get these optimal numbers.
Personally, never use shrine of secrets unless you really don't want to spend any $ on licensed killers/survivors but want their perks instead. N
Otherwise use shards to unlock characters or skins, don't bother with the shrine, it is stupidly overpriced for the time you need to spend on grinding shards. Unlocking characters via shards not only gets you access to their perks later on but also increases the content of your game by making them playable.
-
I said it ages ago, literally years back.
Once unhooked, you gain 3/4/5 (because pointless perk tiers) tokens on your ds.
If you are grabbed/picked up while having any tokens left you escape killer's grasp, stunning them for 5 seconds and even getting this haste bonus you suggested, because why not. All tokens are consumed.
PERK ISN'T ONE TIME USE, EACH TIME YOU ARE UNHOOKED IT WILL BE ACTIVE AGAIN.
The tokens:
-1 token each time another survivor gets hit.
-2 tokens if other survivor enters dying state.
-2 tokens if another survivor is hooked.
-1 token after 30 seconds of being unhooked (only once).
-1 token each second when working on a generator, cleansing a totem or healing another survivor. (accumulates charges, like Stake Out, thus can't be abused by tapping)
All tokens are instantly removed if you are the last survivor alive in the trial.
Could also make EGC double the token drain or even disable ds completely.
Ds remains as an anti tunneling/momentum perk.
The only issue with what I typed above is with lower amount of survivors remaining in the trial, which can be fixed by distributing tokens based on remaining survivors in the trial instead. So we don't get a situation where 2 survivors are left and both of them have ds active.
-
Your ability to play Nurse is equal to ability to read how certain mechanics and systems work.
A generic survivor main would call you as a baby nurse and a baby reader.
-
Ds needs a little buff to anti tunnel aspect and massive utter Armageddon dropped on its head in terms of "lol, immenity tim3, get rekt paggot killur!!1"
-
Give it a time, not even a month has passed yet since it. Most pressing issues get quickly fixed in just 3 months on average.
Be patient.
Jeez.

Not seeing P3 indicator on killer icons feels... empty, naked... incomplete.

Oh, and I vote no. I'm not a Legacy owner, but they're so rare and so unique, they should be kept to their original owners.
I really like Event Cosmetics because, and I hope, you cannot get them later. It's a sign you played during that specific event.
Just FYI, I don't use them personally, I prefer looks of other outfits and I don't play as Nea anymore, so there goes her outfit.

Okay? New additional effects are a flat buff. Not just to "normal" killers. Every killer benefits.
I'm aware that basic attack and power are different. That doesnt change that it's not a nerf to some and buff to others. It's not synergized with powers is all. You can still benefit from it.
Which is why I asked what I did. In response to "nerf for some, buff for m1."
It's not suddenly MORE useful for only M1 killers. It's more useful across the board. You just cant hit with a power to use it.
I answered your question as to why he said it was a buff to purely m1 killers.
You are overthinking stuff here.

How is it a buff to normal hits if it ALREADY worked for them?
It has few additional effects.
Anyway, it is a nerf in general to all killers.
If you use a power such as shred as demo, hatchet as huntress, all of these won't trigger it.
Not only it was worthless due to stupidly op swf in terms of information, now it is even less useful. Devs... The F are you on when you design stuff?

We HAVE dedicated servers.
If they hit you, it counts. On their end it looks fine. The problem is that it has to send YOU the signal after detecting the hit. They cant just magically teleport you around.
It also may be YOUR connection causing issues. But as it's not a killer hosted game anymore, you cant just blame the killers ping.
Actually you can.
Dedicated servers would be fine if they would work as such, but current hit detection is still on the killer's side, which means if you have low ping and killer has huge ping, he will be rewarded and you punished.
Try downloading something with your full bandwith capacity and play as a killer, even as huntress. Throw few hatchets, look at how you throw it, make it hit survivor then a second or two notice how survicor tries to dodge it and gets hit anyway by the same hatchet you threw few seconds before.

Come to think of it, the most likely reason is the character models. If you've ever played around with avatar sites, the avatar itself is static in height. So when you put on heels, they usually sink into the ground without resizers to make the overall avatar or at least parts of it smaller. The latter usually disproportions the character. They'd have to raise character models up higher and then animation problems would also come into play.
God, I hate when people call characters in games as "avatars" or "toons", dunno why but it makes me cringe so hard :P
In terms of why there are no heels, models would need to be slightly adjusted to accommodate for height shift of the heel, it would look kind of off if they decided to keep it the same way.
The only solution are just very small heels, that still distorts the proportions but aren't as obvious.
Or
Just make boots that were originally heels but make said heels broken/torn off. Would be easier but uglier solution.
Also, ######### sandals, the most disgusting footwear. Yuck!

No, I enjoy the event exclusive cosmetics. They are cosmetics afterwards and them being exclusive to events or specific time, makes them like a badge/trophy.
If anything, they can either release a modified legacy with different colour or do basically nothing.
Yes, I do own 3 full legacy sets (Trapper, Nea and Nurse), I grinded my ass to get them before the deadline.
-
Easy fix is to increase saturation from 5% to 100% and brightness from 25% to 100%, just so I can actually see these damn things!
Heck, increase the darn opacity! Why are they less visible than cloaked Wraith from 60 meters ?!

This issue with swf pisses the living hell out of me.
It is the annoying circle that ends with whataboutism.
As always it starts "I don't want to play against swf due to unfair advantage they have due to comms", quickly followed by these stupid arguments:
-But I want to play with friends.
-But not all swf are toxic.
-But not all swf are on comms.
-But you just want ez games, grow some balls and play hard mode while I and my friends play ez mode.
-But then SWF wouldn't ever get any games, as everyone would dodge them.
After said "arguments" are laid, main topic is already derailed and resorts to war between "mains" (Survivor mains that use swf scream on killer mains and solo survivors that hate it too).
Devs NEVER address the issue, don't even say their typical "we are looking into that", there is just void of communication regarding it.
It has been like that since swf was shoved half baked into dbd back in 2016, after "friends" we're glitching the lobbieds by trying to find their friends to play with in the same lobby, thus they had to join, see names, leave if no one was present and dbd being a buggy mess back then, one or two leaving like that would bug the lobby and make it to never get more players in...
SWF needs to be addressed, everyone knows it is a mess in terms of balance and silly arguments, often filled to the brim with hypocrisy, just annoys the living hell out of others.
But just know nothing will be done to it, business is business and swf is a cancerous cash cow.

Please, do list some of these endless "survivor nerfs" That are not exploits that needed to be fixed.

-
Well, they are both ranged killers, but they differ.
Think of Huntress as ranged burster and deathslinger as ranged CC'er.
Huntress excels at downing survivors if you can land these hatchets and she can easily snowball of it. However she can be looped.
Deathslinger is capable of shutting down loops more easily but his overall lethality is lower than that of huntress.
God huntress > God deathslinger
-
Well, placement matches is what is required for that to work, really.
You play like 5-10 rounds with people across most ranks (mostly 5-15, if ranks would indicate skill) and then mm should place you on X rank depending on how you play during these games.
Don't see any issue with it, tbh.
I doubt it would even place you against rank 20 0 hr meg as your level 1 trapper whom you have never played before, but got all other killers on p3 lvl 50 and all perks unlocked.

I know facing with a good group with a nice communication is hard to play versus, but since we have an actual solution this is not the way to tell the things.
Have a nice day fella.
Poking a liquid poop with a stick is more enjoyable with friends too, thus your argument is awful, as it can be attached to basically anythinganything, as doing stuff with friends is in 99,99% always more fun than solo.
As a solo survivor I also have to disagree with you on that, game is fun as solo and was actually advertised as such back in 2016, 4 solo survivors working together (or not) against 1 killer.
Nonetheless, swf is a cash cow for bhv, their fun is more important than yours, doesn't matter if you are a killer or a solo survivor.
-
An SWF needs a multiplier to their MMR score. As an example, solo uses simple MMR*1, duo sum of their MMR*1.1, trio sum of their MMR*1.3, 4 man sum of their MMR*1.4, maybe even 1.5.
Values are simple examples, duos are fine, trio and quad is where the issue start to be noticeable.
Swf SHOULD always be matched against stronger opponents due then having more information, preparation and coordination available than solo players.

How would you need iron will? That doesnt even make sense.
Why did you quote me instead of the guy I quoted?
But to answer your question, you need iron will to have a chance against a "decent" spirit who uses headphones.
The pin point positioning via sound is just... Too much for version her. That's why people hate playing against spirit, as there isn't much input a survivor player can do against that killer, as her overall kit is quite forgiving, that's why he said IW is quite required to have any chance against her... Then comes stridor.

One thing is exploiting your position in map tiles and another is taking the game hostage, you don't even need to exploit for that, just hiding or blocking. I think you're congusing two different banable offenses.
I don't see the point you are trying to get across.
What you see here is literally the old harvester killers would do with lunging on the hay stack, the hole in the floor at badham, debris of the pallet at the crane on autohaven. All of these places can be , as you call it, exploited in order to gain advantage in quite a strong survivor sided loop without basically any counters other than holding W and waiting for the pallet or window block.
Old dead hard or even climbable rocks were abused by survivors as safe spots that can't get on and if they were a huntress, at best they could just slug you and bleed to death, god forbid being an m1.
-
Well, I hate playing against hag sinc3 she was released... The biggest issue I have with her is you need a flashlight to counter or basically do anything worthwile, unl3ss your other 3 survivors aren't sack of red potatoes, you will get wrecked in the net of 10 traps.
She needs to have a way to defuse her traps without a flashlight, the trapped hook is similar to what release trapper could do, placing a trap in front of a hook so YOU HAD to disarm it before unhooking, with a proxy campers being even worse than today (yes, there were few strats to use, such as unhooker disarming it ASAP after being unhooked, as it didn't catch you mid unhookkng animation, fun old times).
I would prefer a rework of her power.

Abusing the hitbox standing over where you're not suposed to normally stand over, just like when survivors could use old dead hard to get over boxes from high places and then get banned for it.
Getting to places inaccessible to the other side and holding the game hostage is quite different, don't you think?
This situation is the same as with lunging from upper floor to get into the window floor below on this map. No issues here.
-
As someone who loves DS but understands how he can be annoying to verse the same way spirit is, here are 2 things I would introduce.
Longer reload on missed shots and chain breaks, add a buff to speed up a reload on successful hit while reeling in.
And 2nd thing, to make being in ADS actually have a point instead of 24/7 quick scoping. Make it so, chain has very low durability if quick scoping. Saying in ads increases endurance/durability of the chain, so survivor has to struggle harder to get free.
Thus, quick scope would have ~1/4 of the current chain durability, good for short range shots to secure survivor just around the corner, while fully charged ADS increase to 150-175% of current value.
Optionally make a "forced lullaby" at 24m, similar to the Huntress, it doesnt need to be as intrusive nor audible for the killer. Make it also be decreased by the addons that lower TR but not affected by the m&a.
-
Cooldown on the power was needed.
It was spammable and Im saying this as someone who maines her in the old days (I can flex with my legacy 3 on her).
Reworked addons are also nice, they spice things up, as nurse is one of the few killers that DOESNT need any addons to wreck 4 man seal team swf with OoO.
The main problem with Nurse is how buggy the maps are and how buggy her power is. That's the main issue that plagued nurse basically since her release.
In other words, Nurse is great, cd nerf is perfectly justified, bugs destroy any fun from playing her.
-
Surge is good and I would use it much, much more often if it wasnt for completely pointless cooldown. It already has a very strict and non spammable requirement in real gameplay and its effect doesnt stack anyway, cooldown is completely unecessary. That's like giving cooldown to Inner Strength, so you cannot break a dull totem for some unknown reason and make it count for the perk.
The only reason why I see it having a cd is very close 3 gen strat against slugging killer..., still such situation is a loss no matter what for survivors.
-
@Splinterverse said:
They just need to make Stridor not work on folks with Iron Will.
I mean it's bad enough we have to run Iron Will to counter, but then to have a perk that counter the counter? Hell no.
As a matter of fact, Iron Will needs to be slightly nerfed (it is a meta for a reason).
On the other hand, Spirit needs massive nerf to either tracking mid chase or overall movement. So she either becomes a great assassin but subpar tracker (like Nurse), or she is average at tracking and good at chases if killer is good predicting.

As someone who loves to play as DS but dislikes how annoying he can be to verse, these are stuff I would like to see addressed on him.
Make missing shots actually punishing, reload is way too short, I would say double or even triple the reload time of his spear, I can barely feel the slowdown in terms of time when I do reload on vanilla speed.
His TR sound is wonky, it doesnt ramp up as other killers, thus it is praxtically much shorter than others.
I would say introduce built in "lullaby" to 24m on top of his TR, some wild west bullcrap, gush of wind, whistling, anythong. New lullaby could be affected by his ADS addons that lower TR, so it would also reduce the lullaby.
And the most controversal but also really needed to remove the "hopelessness" when versing him. Instant noscoping.
Rework it slightly. Here are two suggestions:
Holding ADS for longer increases his spear's range (illogical, but who cares, gameplay > logic). Thus quick scoping would result in a short spear shot but holding it longer would increase it drastically, maybe even further than current 18m, like 24 max.
Another idea is to make quick scope spear break A LOT faster, where as holding ads for longer will increase durability of the chain. There is still the unknown of when he is going to shot but at the cost of DS' slowed down movement while he increases durability of the chain.
He is not a weak killer, suffers from map pressure as all other ones, but is extremely strong mid chase. I find it werid when people say he is mid tier or can avoid him easily. You cant avoid him, he is the one making mistakes or just straight up missing you.
About the rest of the killers.
Spirit, I completely refuse playing her and If I have to (rituals and maybe future challenges), I will only equip bbq, no other perks. Playing her feels extremely Dirty, cheap and "unrewarding" (she is extremely easy to play, resulting in the character itself winning the round rather than the player.
The issues, spirit is literally a loot box of the gameplay. It is just a gamble. And if you dont run Iron Will or she uses Stridor, escaping while injured is almost impossible, unless the killer doesnt use headphones or has sound muted.
I dont have a good idea to change her without reworking her power or heavily nerfing tracking whike phasing (omnidirectional sound, muffled sounds, etc). She is 2nd worst designed killer in dbd, just behind release version of the legion.
Freddy just needs downsides to using his power mid chase. Dropping pools like it is nothing without any slowdown or cooldown is weird.
Misuse of a power should come at a cost, Freddy has none of that beside porting to a wrong gen.

Never understood the reason to buy stuff fromthe shrine, it was ALWAYS useless for me and only used it for extra bp when shards had no other use yet.
On your place, if you dont want to buy any DLC, just unlock non licensed character instead, as it comes with 3 perks and an actual playable thing that may actually be useful/wanted by you later down the line.
Thr issue comes to licensed dlcs now, but honestly, just grab LF for dosh, as it is worth it for just the bonus bp from bbq, rest... Pray to your loot box God for better, useless shrine roll.

If unhooker is injured, it is an obvious way to do it.
Play a bit of reds as killer against "fun and balanced; just playing with friends for fun but fu" swf and see for yourself.

No mither is already one of the most overpowered perks in the game
It renders Ghostface, Plague, and Mike USELESS
Dont forget Billy, iri Huntress, noed, haunting grounds, Trapper's Bloody coil, all healing debuffs killer can use...
No mither needs a nerf, as it renders so many things useless.
Fix it buhdhvr!
