Your comment gives it away honestly. Unsafe pallets are meant for you to go down on so a teammate can get the save. But hey I would gladly get rid of all unsafe pallets so I can just get the down and hook for free.
that's definitely a new one

"Unsafe" as in, mindgamable pallets, are ideal. There should be literally 0 god pallets. Pallets should all be mindgamable by a killer.
Why? Because god pallets waste far more time than you realize. Imagine a scenario where the game starts and the killer runs to the end of the map and starts a chase. During this time, 3 survivors hop on 3 different gens.
A single dropped god pallet that MUST be broken by the killer, buys a survivor 10.8 meters of distance, even more if the pallet stuns them, but we are looking at the minimum. That buys a solid 15 seconds of distance on a killer.
That means when you factor in that you have to hit the survivor twice, they get a speed boost for the first hit, and you just predrop a god pallet that you have to break, then the survivor just shift +w to the furthest corner of the map, the killer is going to lose 3 gens before they can even hook that survivor.
God pallets are bad for the game, because they are just too easy. There is no skill involved in pressing spacebar predropping, and still continuing to run. It isn't fun.
Every single pallet should be mindgamable, and the pallet STUN is what should reward the survivor with distance gained, not just the nature of dropping the pallet. I think pallet STUNS should be INCREASED to around 4 seconds (and then enduring reworked or nerfed) and every pallet should become mindgamable if dropped. That way, the goal of the survivor is to stun the killer to get away, not just predrop some RNG placed pallet that guarantees them 15 seconds of free distance while their team powers through gens.
And when i say mindgamable, i mean that 50/50. It still isn't even a guaranteed hit if you don't get the stun on the pallet. Every loop, every structure, and every pallet, should be designed like an LT wall, where it is a pure 50/50 (is the killer going to keep running? Or are they going to double back?) and if you guess right, you get some distance to either do another go around, or maybe you gain enough distance to run to the next loop and attempt to get the pallet stun at that one.
You would need to seriously nerf Killers if you want every map to be like Haddonfield.
Most of the pallets are stun or die. The rest are stun and die.
Pallets should NOT function like LT'S. They get shut down by a single perk

I think unsafe pallets are good for the game. Learn how to loop without dropping god pallets, safe pallets, I also think killers powers aren’t becoming more cheesy. Unknown and Chucky’s powers imo are the most fun to go against in a killer in a long time.
Yeah, idk about that.
Unsafe pallets are kinda bad for the game. Definitely good for Killer though, makes it extremely easy when all you have to do is respect the pallet and get a free hit.
Likewise, MAYBE you could have a case for Unknown, but Chucky's power is cheeks. Scamper under pallet for a free hit. Not great design

You answered your own question if its not usable as a perk it wouldnt work as a basekit mechanic. Action speeds include Vaulting its like a packaged deal and picking it apart devs wouldn't do. Finally if you considered Move speed that will be an MFT situation and cause infinites again
Not entirely true.
At the moment, the Survivor meta is generally perks that ensure you have a good experience. You need some chase perks to make sure you don't go down right away, an info perk and at least one anti-tunnel perk. That's why it wouldn't be used, there's simply not any room.
Vaulting could easily be taken out. I hadn't intended for it to be there in the first place.
MfT did not make infinites. There aren't any left, thankfully. Likewise, perhaps a removal of any BloodLust would also work

i believe back in 2018-2019 there was a perk that gave a like a repair bonus for each missing survivor and it was never used and eventually got reworked i wanna say it was left behind but i can't remember. Also heck no to giving more pallets or giving action speed resilience was a major issue back then thats just gonna create infinites
Obviously a perk like that wasn't used back then, nor would it be used now. That's why it would be a basekit mechanic.
Why not? The Killer is already winning handily at what is supposed to be their weakest point.
Likewise, I specified action speeds. You know, like healing, sabo, cleansing, gens etc etc. Not movement speed or vault speed. Although movement speed is something I considered.

There are a lot of times imo where killers do not have any way to come back if gens are done fast enough there is no way for the killer to even get a kill unless they hard tunnel or camp which survivors also fly on. For the last few days I have been sharing my personal experience with the game especially in the random perk mode where gens was done so fast before I could even get one or two hooks. For 10 games in a row one night I got a total of 2 kills and every match felt hopeless. One match was so bad that I even had a survivor saying sorry to me for the rough time I had. That match was so bad and hopeless that I just gave up with no hooks and waited at the gate to to open them. This is the first time I've seen matches like this in dbd either, in my 1400 hrs of gameplay I have had many matches where I had no hope to even get a single kill. I think both sides need a comeback system esp since the MMR system is ######### and rarely ever plays ppl in the matches they should be, where they have an even chance of winning.
That sounds like both a MM mismatch and poor RNG due to perks.
I'd say give it a bit on regular modes and see how it goes.
I am sorry you've not been having a good time, for what it's worth.

Do killers get a reasonable comeback mechanic too? Because it certainly feels horrible to have someone predrop a single god pallet, run to a corner of the map and have 3 gens get done before you land your first hook.
Feels like hyperbole, but one can never be too sure these days.
As to your question, no I do not feel that they need a second comeback mechanic at this time. Killers already have a natural comeback mechanic via the nature of the game's design. As the match goes on, Survivors get weaker via loss of resources. Be those health states, items, gens, pallets or teammates.
Likewise, I feel that would be a disservice to Killers who are genuinely weak and in need of QoL or other buffs. This would help to disguise issues instead of addressing them in a manner that those characters deserve

You literaly can't what are you talking about? If a camera is disabled you can't place another one right next to it removing the disabled one.
Best you can do is place new one, and it won't remove the disabled one, it will remove another one that might be in a useful place. But i'm sure you know that already.
It's been a while since I played Singu, but I'm pretty sure you can shoot the cams to remove them, and then place another.
Just went and checked, yes, you can. Shoot the disabled cam and place a new one on top of it.

Meh, idk, he just feels week sometimes, especially on open maps when surv can just old w and you cant do anything about it exept giving them speed boost to do it again
Nemesis might be too weak, maybe, but letting him instantly damage with his tentacle on top of it's utility is not a good idea.
Giving Infection more downsides would be a more intriguing option, to me at least.
-
Hmmmm.
It's been a core mechanic for so long, but….
Maybe just Scourge Hooks need to break upon death. The way I see it, having a broken hook usually just ends in a bleedout through no fault of anyone's. The Survivor can't be expected to offer themselves up anymore than the Killer can be expected to simply let them go.
So no, regular hooks shouldn't break.

@ad19970 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3728664#Comment_3728664
And what would that look like? In my experience survivors already have a comeback mechanic, in form of good chases.
A comeback for survivors would have to be implemented very carefully, as to not screw over killers that are simply playing well.
Honestly before they look into some form of comeback mechanic, I'd rather have the devs look at problematic killer strategies like camping and tunneling, which are too strong currently for the effort they require, and can be factors that prevent survivors from having a fair comeback chance.
That and information buffs for solo q I feel would be more important than some form of comeback mechanic.
You need to have astronomically good chases if someone is already dead. Most Killers, much to my delight, have wizened up and do not chase people for the whole much anymore.
Regardless, yes, the adjustment of tunneling/camping would likely achieve a similar outcome. Likewise, the information buffs, I'm sure, would help things.
I would find that solution to be agreeable.

I think a comeback mechanic is important for both sides, to keep things always 'winnable'. I always like the idea of basekit NOED (with 0 kills going into endgame) for Killer. Fairly simple, and pre-cleansing totems takes roughly 1 extra gen's worth of time.
Survivor is significantly more complicated. At first maybe an action speed boost after (early) deaths might work, but that falls apart if there is enough pressure from the Killer such that 1 is on hook, 1 in chase, and 1 going for the rescue. Survivor ghosts might be a way to keep the 4 Survivor threat, but that would likely be too difficult to implement at this stage. Personally I liked the pre-Mikaela hatch (especially since we now know that Hatch is a tie, not a win for Survivor). Old hatch allowed for a tunneled early kill potentially be punished if someone brought a key. It was anticlimactic, but so is ending someone game so early, so fighting fire with fire.
Some basic QoL for both sides (imo) should be bans. Survivor (maybe only soloq) can ban 1 per 5 Killers released, and Killer the same rate for maps (or realms, not sure, realms helps more against Badham, maps can help ban indoor maps for ranged and open maps for stealth). I personally hate Plague and Oni (both punished by bad teammates far more than normal), and I hate Autohaven (too open+short loops), so my biggest pain points are greatly exaggerated with those conditions. Imo if the bad parts occur less common, people are less likely to be burnt out and ever reach that 'fudge it go next' mindset.YES!
See you get it.
This is usually caused by burnout. That's the root cause and that's what we're trying to prevent. Nobody goes into a game with a, ######### it go next, mindset. They get their from numerous bad matches and seeing another match go the same is the final straw, so they don't torture themselves with it.
The people that just mindlessly demonize the other side without the slightest hint of empathy are bizarre to me, because they're doing the same thing they claim to hate so much.

TThat's A nice concept but like what exactly
For something very simple and easy to implement, a gen/other action speed bonus for remaining Survivors in the trial.
For something more…elaborate you could get pretty creative.
If a Survivor is killed off before, for the sake of the argument, a single gen is more than 75% complete, the Trial spawns extra pallets.
You could make Survivors share hook states.
I'm sure other people have better ideas, those are just the two off the top of my head. I haven't given it too much critical thought.
-
We add a reasonable comeback mechanic for Survivor.
The match can often feel over due to either the oppressive nature of some Killers, a matchmaker mismatch, the prevalence of anti-gen perks, the prevalence of certain exceedingly effective playstyles or plain bad luck.
This should be remedied. Just as Killers often stage a comeback over time, Survivor should be given a reasonable, I stress that word, ability to recover from early-game issues.

Perhaps not.
Time to start my content creator journey!
-
I'd do it. Throw my hat in the ring, why not? I've got experience with every level of the game and I listen enough to understand each area's chief complaints
think if you can get enough people from either side, you'll work it out.
-
Shoot, that's a good one. This is assuming the Killers are allowed to function at their maximum potential, to flex their muscles, so to speak.
The Demogorgon ~ Not necessarily the creature itself, but the master that it truly serves. The Mind Flayer is a threat, seemingly, equivalent (if different) to the Entity itself. Throwing the Demogorgon into the fray may interest its Master.
Pyramid Head ~ I mean, c'mon, it's obvious.
Onryo ~ Since Onryo is from The Ring (and therefore Ringu) uhhhh, the lore gets crazy. We will say that.
Wesker ~ Genius tactician. Capable fighter and is imbued with multiple deadly (and helpful) viruses. The best of Umbrella. I'm keeping him as a tactical option, he's running the show and giving orders.
The Singularity ~ Once again, keeping him back to build up and analyze the situation. I think between him and Wesker, they've got the brains to cook up something absolutely diabolical. He's the true tactician here, as his machine mind can process information faster than any human.
Vecna ~ Adding in some versatility to the cast, Vecna brings a new element to contend with…magic. He's incredibly intelligent in his own right and is as resourceful as he is powerful.
I'd keep Myers and Blight in the wings as sub-ins. Myers seems to lean towards his "This is Evil itself given a human body and is therefore supernatural" iteration. That basically makes him impossible to destroy, as you can't destroy Evil. Blight is also extremely intelligent and could be a decent sub-in for Demogorgon.
-
Well, let's see.
A instantly damaging AoE that can go through walls and has a generous lingering hurtbox. Combine that with a very strong teleport ability and you have one oppressive Killer.
He would've been a little weaker than PTB Twins. Like, he would've been absolutely ######### ridiculous.
-
Any Killer, provided you are genuinely good with them.
The odds of you running into a honest-to-God unbeatable team is astronomically low.

Here's hoping they actually rework her instead of just tweaking her power

castlevania Dracula is more common knowledge than Dio or Alucard. there was never a chance it was anything but him or an original interpretation of Dracula. even the Béla Lugosi version would be more for the look than the actual character.
but Dio or Alucard would have been awesome additions. Dio has ice powers, laser eyes that are actually blood, camp as all hell… just amazing.
and yeah… no idea how to translate Alucard into dbd. even ignoring that his main form of attack are 2 rifle-sized pistols that quite literaly blow people up
Depends on what part of the population you poll.
Like, my dad would probably know Castelvania Dracula; but JoJo and Hellsing are both immensely popular in their own rights with JoJo being immensely influential (and ongoing) and Hellsing certainly being more niche.
Also, yes, Al does just use his guns most of the times. That's why I thought Dio would be a bit better. He's certainly sassy and has enough personality. He's ######### evil enough and he has a wide array of powers.

so you never played a horror campaign? you should, it's cool.
was never a fan of wesker either, specially because we already had nemesis. at least I like his camp
depends on which dracula. the thing with castlevania is that they go from camp comedy to serious all the time. there are more scary incarnations of him. but the monster who gave their humanity away and keeps coming back to life to try and destroy humanity is absolutely a horror character.
also, a series that produces such dumb but awesome lines such as these

Disagree with that. It certainly isn't looking bad for the killer in that scenario, but it definitely isn't an easy win either.
The actual rule for that is "someone dead before the fourth gen is done is usually a Killer win"

I disagree. Good chases aren't an absolute rarity, even against strong killers. You also don't need to be chased a whole gen to make a comeback after a bad start, not in my experience. Of course it also depends on how efficient survivors are working on gens. But no, that's an exaggeration in my opinion.
If the killer hard tunnels things become harder as well, admittedily. But that's an issue of tunneling being too strong at the moment.
Again, very bad reason to immediately give up and screw over your team.
I'm not really arguing about the giving up part, I'm arguing about the comeback mechanic.
An average Killer versus an average Survivor with the Killer getting an early down is pretty damn difficult to come back from. You do need to have gen-long chases because of slowdown/tunneling. You need to buy time for everyone to reset, split up and start on gens.
-
@ad19970 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3723828#Comment_3723828
Meh one or two good chases can definitely tilt the match quite a bit, I would argue that's the comeback mechanic. Even with a bad chase at start, and the killer running slowdown perks, the game is not lost yet. You'll just need some good chases as well. I have had such matches both as killer and survivor already.
I get that it's harder if the killer stacks gen slowdowns, but it's still possible. And not a reason to immediately give up, screwing over your entire team.
Which is not something that happens in an average match.
In order to recover from that, you'd need to be chased for at least a gen, if not more.
That's a pretty massive ask in today's meta.

One bad chase at the beginning does not lose you the game as survivor. So often enough, people do give up for the most ridiculous reasons.
If the Killer isn't running gen regression, then sure. If all the Survivors are good, then sure.
But for the average game, a bad chase at the beginning can and often will cost you the match.
As a different poster pointed out, Survivors don't really have any comeback mechanics and they are designed to get weaker as the match goes on. A bad chase at the beginning of the match will often snowball out of control, even against a semi-decent Killer. Against a player that knows what they're doing? A bad chase can be lights-out for the whole team. -
