He's just extremely difficult to play.
He requires an extensive amount of knowledge that the average player really isn't gonna have. You need to know the maps inside and out, check spots, goofy geometry spots, predict common Survivor pathing, predict hot spots, make reads based off of the match etc etc

I disagree heavy. We”ll see come the PTB. I think As long as the person who runs it is good at looping it will be good.
And as long as they don't get one of the many many many anti-loop Killers.
So yes, against someone like Sadako, this might be okay. Not good, not bad.
Against anyone with a modicum of anti-loop or a good Killer; the perk still harms your team.
-
My brother in Christ, we know nothing about the chapter.
It seems, to me at least, that it could be Vecna. I doubt it's a Beholder, they'd want to hit it off with a big swing with DND.
-
lol, it'll just lead to more tunneling.
If PR was 100% regression on every hook, I am convinced nothing would change and some people would still say that Survivor is OP
-
They didn't need four gen regression perks, most people just want the easiest possible match.
Nothing will change except more bad Killers will complain after having crutched on gen regression perks.

60 Seconds for 7 brand new parts is beyond a worthy time investment. Almost a whole Gen worth of progress that can’t be undone at all is crazy lol. You’ll see when the update goes live. I’m telling you it’s a great perk.
It's a MAXIMUM of 70 seconds, but likely 50 seconds.
This doesn't count travel time nor interruptions nor being Broken for the rest of the trial.
It is a CLASSIC noob-trap.

Why do survivors constantly bring brand new parts but won’t use a perk that is literally 7 of them? Yeah you’re broken but as long as you play super safe and W Key immediately it’s insane value.
Because a BNP comes with a toolbox and no time investment.
Invocation still isn't even breaking even in time investment

It leads to being used offensively.
Now it means that, if you are being tunneled, you are fine, because, in theory, you should be going down near some structure or pallet or something, you DS, and you have time to get there.
But at 5 seconds, you could just body block in a corner of the map dead zone and have enough time to run to the opposite end of the map.
I don't think we should even pretend like this is a balancing decision from BHVR.
I think it's clear that this is about the animation not working. They wanted it to be an effective four second stun, but that didnt work, so now they're just doing it manually.

probably biggest nerf of the patch. wesker no longer going to be 3rd best killer due to tunneling nerfs. it is sad they did not bother to buff his bound a bit to compensate said changes…. like allowing him to vault pallet→use m2 would be nice change. oh well.
He wasn't the third best to begin with, and that would be ludicrously overpowered.
-
OH no! You won't be able to dogwalk 99% of players simply because you equipped 4 slowdowns, how awful!
-
What? The perk is still absolute trash tier.
60 seconds, not counting travel time or interruption, for 50 seconds worth of gen progress and permanent broken.
Woo-hoo, what a great perk! Still the best Killer perk in the game.

That's not counting other forms of slowdown, like idk, playing Killer properly.

My current theory is that the proximity checks, that the game uses to determine if the killer should be forbidden to lunge, is done on the killer side instead of the server side.
This means that when the game has issues like latency or rubberbanding, it’s more likely that the game will forbid the killer from lunging, even though the killer is too far away to hit the survivor with a short M1 attack.
That does seem likely, however, this issue has been in the game for many many years.
At least since 2018, when I started playing. I think it's much more likely that it's something to do with aim dressing's interaction with the Dedicated Servers.
If the aim dressing was made for P2P, and then got ported over to DS, it would make sense why it's been significantly worse
-
I'd rather restrict Invocation.
"Can only be used if the game is bug-free." That should about fix it.

Much bigger deal for all of those back then.

To me they're separate topics. You view them as one topic because of the aforementioned viewpoints we disagree on.
Clearly, they are intrinsically linked, even to you.
You wouldn't, I hope, drop chase times to 20 seconds without addressing tunneling. We also wouldn't want to totally kill off tunneling without addressing chase times, in some manner.
-
@Blueberry said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3712857#Comment_3712857
No, no it would not. If they made chase times appropriate we could implement significantly more blockers for tunneling into the base game.
There's no point in this conversation, we already know we disagree on this topic. You think they do it for easier matches, I think they do it more often out of necessity and poor game balance. We've had this talk many times, it's not going anywhere.
You didn't suggest any changes to tunneling in your post, only that chase times should be shorter to the degree of 20 seconds
-
@Blueberry said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3712832#Comment_3712832
Yeah I agree. Most averages being around 45-50 seconds is why tunneling is prevalent since there's an extreme disparity in objective times from chases being way longer than they should. If the average chase was 20-25 seconds I think we'd actually see way less tunneling.
I feel like when we look at tiles that most survivors think are fair and what they think most maps should have they are the exact tiles that are too safe and lead to 45-50 second chases. The "bad" tiles they complain about are generally the tiles needed to reach 20-25 second chases.
Let's not kid ourselves.
Tunneling would either increase or remain the same since it would be easier with chases designed to last 25 seconds.

What are you talking about? That feature would be part of the game program, not a separate one. If you are that wary, what are you doing with the game installed with a ring-0 anti-cheat that has already got access to all of your information? (EAC, if you don't get it)
That was a rhetorical question. It's apparent you don't have a firm grasp of the tech behind all this.
The point is: checking activity to detect sore losers and quitters may be a good idea.
I don't have it installed on a PC with personal information. I don't have any games on my PC that has my work stuff nor my personal information. I've seen Sony get hacked enough to be wary.
Likewise, the entire argument is ludicrous. The fact that you bit at it and thought it was a good idea just shows how ridiculous it truly is. Nobody is going to allow them to install a key logger just to ensure everyone is trying at their absolute best. Like, Jesus Christ dude.
I'd say we should HWID ban people for DC'ing, but you'd probably think that's appropriate as well.

That just isn't true

I know you are young but I thought you were smarter than that.
I might be young, but I'm not a ######### moron.
I don't trust multi-million dollar companies to be honest with spyware. I'll not be giving them the benefit of the doubt if they try to install a key logger to ensure everyone is playing at optimal levels.

Well no, because they can be less strict with the DC penalty too. The time outs haven't got to be from 0-100 like they are now.
The reason for negative behaviours in DBD is because the player base are encouraged to play in ways that the opponents deem as dull. Tunneling and camping strategically in order to efficiently kill the Survivors -- instead of being encouraged to go for chases and multiple hooks. Survivors encouraged to sit on gens all game and then escape -- instead of being encouraged to be altruistic to your teammates in addition to helping yourself and your team in escaping.
It isn't lost on me how awful the condition of DBD is, and that the Devs are responsible for it. But the conversation is about entitlement on the Survivors side of things. Hence why everything I've said has been centered around that.
Otz's video isn't even really about that. It's about the atrocious state of the game, the OP cherry-picked part of the video to fit the narrative they wanted.
I think the majority of the problem lays with the Devs. They have created miserable Killers to both play (Twins) and play against (still Twins). This has been a repeated pattern for years. They've made horrible maps that need reworked instantly, as well as perks that are either DOA or OP. They have refused to address unpleasant tactics. Survivors feel like if they go down, that's it. There's very little ability for Survivors to recover from a bad start. Killers feel like they need to stack gen slowdown, which may be true in some scenarios.
-
@_Onyx_ said:

This is where player experience shapes opinions too. My experience, Killers that have no momentum and are struggling to get even one hook by the time there is 1 gen left or the exit gates are powered will still plug away because they know that an endgame hook could get them a kill, or more, depending on how altruistic and cocky the Survivors get.
You're right about negative behaviour being 'allowed' by the Devs. I would personally remove the "auto-sacrifice" from not attempting 2 consecutive skill checks. If you wanna leave, then DC and get timed out. I would make it so missing or not attempting the struggle skill check simply just shaves the current amount of seconds off the timer (I think it's 10), so you have to miss all 6 if you want out that way.
I wouldn't say the game is designed for Survivors to feel like they should have a "I want out" attitude. That's the players being enabled with that attitude by one another. "Oh you're against Skull Merchant? Yeah I can see why you'd quit." "Slugged by Twins? Makes sense." "The Killer got your teammates down back to back in less than 10 seconds? Yeah you may as well write off the match." It's just little babies enabling little babies with validation. It's so annoying to see. Been doing it for so long that it's become a habit and they won't hear it any other way that what they're doing is crappy and childish.
It's not a healthy state for the community to be in, and the Devs need to start being that strict parent that forces this habit to stop.
I really enjoy these attempts to force people to play.
Can't wait for them to install key trackers to make sure you're really trying your best!
YOU WILL BE FORCED TO SWEAT AT MAXIMUM OUTPUT OR ELSE YOU RISK A BAN! PLEASE DO NOT RESIST!
Instead of addressing the why, let's just address the symptoms, like always. Surely that'll work this time.

@MrPenguin said:

The killer would need something early-game to also help then because the only reason things like gens speeds allowing 3 gen pop in 1 chase is "fine" is because the killer gets stronger at the match goes on. This would take that away or diminish it.
Regardless this community has shown the stick is far more effective than the carrot with them so just as with other issues, the stick is probably the way to go. It should probably be both but if it's only 1 or the other it's stick.
Depends on how long the chase is.
Even now, it's completely possible and even somewhat common to see Killers come back from that. You could buff Corrupt to cover four gens at the start instead, that would be something.

If that is as your words an attitute, why change it, I rember vividly you commented on killer players that just because they believe combos like fladhbang+bgp are uncounterable they fo not need a change because counterplay exists. Killers who get 1 hook and 2 gens done (which is mostly gg if the team isnt throwing) get told that thr match is not over.
However this speech does a full 180 when survivors perception of something comes into play, you can a 100% come back from an early down as survivor, and if you cant you should get told what killer players get told when they get a rough start: get better at the game.
Because it isn't about YOU as a Survivor.
In the VAST majority of games, what you do doesn't matter. It's what your team does. If you have a bad player, and the Killer knows it, they're dead and there's nothing you can do. 99/100 that game was lost in the matchmaker. That feels absolutely horrible. When you lose a teammate early, or have an early down, it is extremely hard to recover from that. I do not think Survivors should be completely without hope if they have a bad start, just like Killers.
As a Killer, you almost always have the opportunity to come back. That's just how the game is set up. The longer the game goes on, the more likely it is that you'll secure a winning outcome.

My survivors give up when I get first down too quick, or I down someone and see in front of me another person and go chase them for more pressure. They give up when I snipe them as slinger or unknown, not only that they also give up if I use a ward and they had a map offering. Mind you I am literally playing without slowdown, my current build is (coup, bbq, nurses, brutal).
So bhvr should adress this problematic perks?, or the ability of some killers to snipe? What about going down early, this needs a fix clearly as people give up consistently because of it.
I think a lot of that is to due with the fact that most people have accepted that if they go down, their game is likely over.
Could be wrong, but that's the attitude I've seen. Especially for early downs.
I really think Survivors need a mid-match or late-match comeback mechanic. I think that would help out a lot.

Well, Overwatch has done nothing but try to kill off the casual playerbase and fully commit to being a competitive game for years, so I can't say I'm too surprised.

I mean I know they aren't the best themselves. But at least they have something in the fact like I said. They don't have base mechanics that let you bail out of the match early with no consequence to force your team to play the rest of the match without you (this should go for any decent team game) . The options are dc. Which gets you a ban. Or play out the match throwing. But they are also more aggressive on banning for throw play. So all you get is probably people that are annoyed but they still actually play out the match. Self-unhook attempts and giving up on hook especially with how often it happens now for even the weirdest reasons just gives a tool for way more toxicity.
Iirc, they only have bans for comp.
So far as I know, DBD doesn't have a competitive mode. Maybe if they let us see our MMR...

Please tell us the WHY because for survivors its literally everything
People aren't having fun, that much is clear.
There's some big issues with how one person's match can be ruined, even if it costs the Killer the game, and there's very little said person can do about that.
It certainly feels like what you do as an individual player doesn't matter, it usually feels like the match was predetermined, that goes for both sides, more for Survivor but still definitely relevant for Killer.
The game is absolutely broken right now, not in a balance perspective, just in a not working perspective. The rubber-banding and desync is just awful. The hostage holding, map exploiting and perk abuse is as well. I wouldn't blame people for bowing out against that #########. In fact, I'd probably applaud a teammate for refusing to play with someone exploiting and abusing bugs. At least they have some integrity.

Dang imagine if overwatch or siege let you eliminate yourself from your team early and for the rest of the match. The chaos that would ensue. Glad other games don't let a rager get out early with no consequence. They dc. They get a ban. They hard throw. They get reported and get a ban. There's no way out with no consequence in the long run. Actually sounds healthier right when you think about it that either you have to get a penalty or possibly banned for unsportsmanlike conduct? Because then maybe they feel they have to tough it out.
I dunno that you wanna emulate OW2 or Siege.

Perhaps they should address WHY people are giving up, for once, instead of continuing to bandaid fix issues with paid content.
