  • Last second swapping is fine. If the killer is changing their perks and add-ons because of what they see in the lobby then that is their problem.

My friends and I last second swap to our p100's solely because we get lobby dodged otherwise. We are not good nor do we play in a manner other player's would call sweaty, but watching multiple killers leave the lobby is butt cheeks. I've never noticed differential treatment in trial, but before the trial there definitely is and its obnoxious. If the roles were reversed and survivors could see the killer prestige pre-trial I'm sure high prestige killers wouldn't find matches as quickly.

but remeber then you need to buff killer for that. it is part of a killers toolkit to see the survivor and react to there items thats the reason why most killer hate that awefull last second swap

Killer is the strongest it has ever been. They do not need a buff to compensate. If you are losing because of last second swaps that is on you.

i hope they take their sweet sweet time on putting this feature through because i like dodging p100 survivors in my killer lobby. :)

(do not talk to me about prestige not = skill. i already know. skill isn't why i dodge survivor teams, and i'm so sick of being jumped every time i say i dodge p100 survivors by people repeating the same information.)

This is exactly the reason it should be removed. It also makes matchmaking worse since the lobby now has to back-fill. Personally I think the lobby should be scrapped altogether. You queue then get matched and load straight into the game. Seeing items/survivors/prestige/steam profiles shouldn't be available pre-trial since it only gives the killer a reason to dodge. You were matched for a reason. Lobby shopping needs to go.

  • I hope they kill switch him again. The entity can keep him.

  • I really think boons in general should get a range increase. Old Circle of Healing was the perk that was bottle-necking boons, and it's gone now. The PTB size (28m) would be fine or maybe even 32m.

  • Theoretically if you could switch the portraits I'd really like to use the store's lore portraits. It keeps me awake at NIGHT thinking about how there should be a way to switch character portraits. Maybe one day the folks at bhvr will see the LIGHT and add an option to switch portraits.

  • Billy isn't over tuned. Thompson's mix is the only stinky thing he has.

And UW can be blocked by Calm Spirit, as well as being proximity dependant (inside ther terror radius) and map dependent) killer has to find a locker to activate it.

Also, DR's "6m around every locker on the map" is greater coverage than UW's "32m around me", and can be situationally more useful, as lockers are often close to gens.

Calm spirit is realistically blocking one perk and a killer power. Distortion/OTR covers a larger range of perks and add-ons. 6m around every locker sounds great on midwich/gideon, but it doesn't do as well on maps like ormond/swamp/haddonfield. The TR being the basis of your aura reading is more than great when it is active for 30 seconds especially when most of the best killers can travel across the map rather quickly.

What? Why do you need to find the person you're tunneling you're tunneling them off hook aren't you? Or whats your definition of tunneling? Not hooking everyone else before the last person you've hooked?

If you're not camping and you go back to hook and don't see them it can find that survivor. You can tunnel without camping. Dropping everything to go back for the hooked survivor is tunneling and UW can facilitate that.

  • @MalekithHatesSnow said:

...What is the problem of Ultimate Weapon it does nothing if you're tunneling camping or 3 genning and it encourages the best part of this game chasing I seriously don't understand what the problem of UW is

Ultimate weapon is incredibly useful for tunneling. You can tell which survivor is where because of the screams. You want to kill the two hook feng min? Then just pay attention to who screams.

What is the counterplay to every aura perk?

You just hate Ultimate Weapon because you're aware of it's existence when you scream.

Why is UW a problem but Darkness Revealed isn't?

Darkness revealed is incredibly map dependent and can be blocked by distortion and OTR. Darkness suffers from being incredibly inconsistent.

Calm spirit and hiding in lockers. There is also the fact that the killer still has to actually get you.

Locker dodging Ultimate Weapon isn't as good as locker dodging other auras such as BBQ&Chili since you don't know if they have opened a locker unless you had direct line of sight. BBQ you know that once they pick up a survivor that you can jump in a locker since you know it is about to activate. Ultimate Weapon is also active for 30 whole seconds, so to dodge it you have to sit in a locker for 30 secs to guarantee that it doesn't find you. It outclasses other info perks because it's activation condition doesn't require progression of the game and it bypasses aura blocking. Calm spirit is the only way to consistently play around it and that is not a perk folks should have to run.

  • @Caiman said:

My understanding is that they must be holding a flashlight for Champion of Light to activate. Flashbangs and firecrackers will work but the survivor must be holding a flashlight, even if you're blinding them with something else. Were you and your friend holding flashlights?

Holding a flashlight does not make it work on live. I've tested flash bangs and blast mine with champion of light and neither worked. I was holding a flashlight in my hand when the blast mine/flash bang went off, but the hindered effect never applied and perk never went on cool down.

  • Boon: Illumination could increase the range of all other boons by lets say 8 meters. Other than that I'm not sure how else to buff it.

  • Deadline needs to work regardless of your health state. It already makes the skill checks more difficult, so having a second restriction on the perk feels unnecessary. If you wanted to add another effect to the perk you could grant it an AoE, similar to perks like leader or vigil, for it's skill check reduction penalty. I would like to see the increased skill check odds also be part of that AoE, but I understand that some players might struggle with skill checks and wouldn't wanted that granted to them.

Why would the declining player count trend be any different for other platforms vs Steam? I'm not sure how Epic would "take away" players from Steam - why would people switch to Epic if they already bought the game on Steam??

Players pick up and drop games. New players are not going to play DBD on PC exclusively through Steam. The new players that would normally replace outgoing steam users would now have another option to choose from. That is how it takes away from the steam user base. Live service games will pick up and drop players constantly.

  • Steam charts are not the numbers to go off of. DBD has been added to epic games which is another PC platform that is going to take away from the steam charts. I agree that solo survivor could use some love, but the steam charts don't tell the story you think it does. Seeing load outs of teammates prior to match would be a nice QoL for solo survivor and I would love to see it implemented.

  • The penalty shouldn't be permanently removed, but I would like to see the first and maybe second DC of each day have no time penalty. The match can count as a death, and you can move on. If someone wants out of a match they'll do it. I've rescued enough survivors that wanted to "go next" on hook to know that they will either AFK after or throw every pallet. The number of DCs will increase for sure but these were survivors that were going to give up or ruin the game anyway.

  • I've never had issues with depipping as killer. If I get washed so bad that the game decides I lose a pip then so be it. However solo q survivor is a different story. Too many games have a survivor giving up outright, or the lack of communication leads to people being left on hook. It can be frustrating to load in against a killer and see the first survivor "go next" on first hook. It makes safety pipping at higher grades a challenge, and gaining a pip against a competent killer unlikely. Pips and grades are supposed to be indicative of playtime per season. The only reason a pip should be lost is if you DC (though I'd argue the pip should remain since that would just be another reason to give up on hook and not let the team have a bot).

  • this has been as is since chucky's release iirc. Odd bulb had a slight value change as well.

  • The thirst trap killer deserves all of the hate she gets.

  • Let it add two honesty. Hoarder does just that and it's not like working on chests is going to dramatically hurt the killer.

  • Dredge suffers from the same issue as the trickster and the huntress, terrible locker placements. Maps like haddonfield and swamp will feel rough with the lack of locations to teleport to. I'd like to see locker spawns improved overall since we have a handful of perks/killers that rely on them.

So would Plague be a flawed design as well since she completely negates the use of med-kits?

She does not. You can still pick up survivors off the ground with them. Slugging with corrupt purge is a strong tactic. If you get injured from corrupt purge you can still heal if not infected.

No u. Ultimate weapon and friends till the end both have hard perk counters in calm spirit and distortion respectively.

Calm spirit counters some other perks, as well as an entire killer power.

Distortion has way more perks that it counters as well

Both have hard counters that are useful outside of just their counter

Ultimate weapon still applies blindness even if you have calm spirit. Iron maiden still exposes you as well. Infectious is the only one that i can think of where the whole effect is just screaming. Distortion tokens can run out if you have enough aura reading, or a small TR. These perks are not quite comparable.

  • @Krazzik said:

I can see why you'd have issues but I think it's mostly fine as is. It's not considered a very strong perk and if you wanted to increase your chance to win and bring the strongest build possible you'd NEVER bring Lightborn.

If a killer wants to use up one of his limited perk slots with a subpar perk so he can have more fun not having to worry about flashlights, let him.

If you think about it as handicapping yourself by NOT just bringing Pain Res, Pop, Deadman's, Deadlock, or Ultimate Weapon instead, then I'm sure the vast majority of survivors wouldn't mind it.

I don't want to win. I want to have fun with an item I brought into the trial. It's not good when compared to the utility of med-kits and toolboxes, but I want to interact directly with the killer.

  • @Seraphor said:

Sloppy, Franklins and Plague say hi. All hard counters to medkits.

Tbf though, Lightborn would probably be fine if it did something like "increases time required to blind by 50%". That would throw off survivors timings and would most likely result in 90% of blind attempts failing simply due to not having enough time to finish the blind before the killer moved away, while still scoring the aura reveal.

you can still use your med-kit with sloppy butcher and Franklin's demise. Even plague doesn't deny the use of med-kits. They are much more limited in there functionality but not useless. You can pick up survivors off the ground with them which is relevant as slugging on plague with corrupt purge is viable. If you are uninfected and damaged you can use the med-kit normally. If not fully infected you can still use blighted serums and styptics. Lightborn doesn't allow for a flashlight to work period.

  • I wouldn't want self-healing to be removed. Leaving some of the med-kits essentially as they are helps alleviate a lot of issues with playing solo q. It's the sameness of the rarities that bothered me more than anything and I only wanted to offer a suggestion and not just a complaint. I don't think 24 seconds self-heals are problematic when they are limited to an item.

  • If you're kicking the same gen 8 times that might be why you are struggling at killer. I've played this game for years, mostly killer, and I can tell you killer is the strongest it has ever been generally (specific killers can fluctuate with changes ofc). If you play on PC and you have the means to record your matches I'd recommend it. You can watch back your match and notice things that you couldn't during the match. Catch any mistakes you may have made. I enjoy playing killer and I don't understand the complaints about it being too hard. If you are not enjoying your time as a killer consider playing survivor instead.

  • Her phasing sound should be illuminated by the visual terror radius (it can use the lullaby visual). This doesn't really solve the issue of direction, but the devs have mentioned a VFX of the killer kicking up dust while phasing. That could also be implemented. Her strength mostly comes from her being incredibly fast during the phase anyway, so it wouldn't likely be that detrimental to her kit. The furin add-on might need a rework if this is done since you can notice that the phasing sound is global and not local only by listening. The visual terror radius probably wouldn't help distinguish between a local/global phasing sound.

From the perspective of the killer you can have that dust effect apply to running survivors. I'm not really sure how you can emulate the static breathing of healthy survivors in a visual way that wouldn't also grant an advantage to players who are not hard of hearing, but It wil be better to accommodate those with poor hearing and give a slight advantage to everyone playing the killer than to leave them out. If the killer becomes too overbearing because of accessibility features being implemented then you can always tweak the numbers to her power (e.g. reduce phasing movement speed, power recovery rate, etc.).

  • The new portraits look uncanny. I'm not even sure how to articulate what specifically is off-putting. If they ever swapped back to the old icons I'd be happy.

  • Between the sparsity of the offering and actually having to be the one to finish the gen to get the BP the event has so far been a let down. I've just been bringing BPS and Event Cakes.

  • I've had the same experience. I'm hoping this is a bug.

Why are you or your teammates unhooking while being chased by the killer?

You do know that some killers like to stay near the hook right?

  • My biggest gripe is the efficiency of tunneling off hook with it. This wasn't as problematic when a lot of survivors were running Decisive Strike as you'd have your protection after the down. Now your protection off hook is in the form of the endurance effect. You can hit a survivor off hook 2 times pretty quickly with 4+ tokens.

I'd love to see the most recently unhooked survivor become the obsession to dissuade targeting the same survivor.

  • FTP shouldn't work with Buckle Up because there just isn't a consistent good option for the killer when it's done during the attack cooldown. Waiting 10 seconds before you can swing at either survivor is too much considering this wasn't an unhook situation. Buckle Up would be a good perk even without the interaction, it'd just be relegated to only being usable when leaving survivors slugged.
