Now stuck at 60 seconds.
I thought I was going crazy because I knew I had completed all of last week's quests.s.

It's a killer sided issue because killers buy into the "bad map, instalose" fallacy more than survivors. Survivors MIGHT DC if they see Midwich or any other indoor map because that signals a boring stealth killer hit and run game. I don't condone that behavior, but the fact is those are two different situations. One is for playstyle, the other is for not having the map stacked in your favor.
And you claim you aren't biased…

Okay, we are talking about to different things because I misinterpreted your original statement. Fair enough.
Disregarding my previous replies, I still think the statement is incorrect mainly due to this:
Killers are allowed to "go next" for free, without penalty, all because they don't like the map.
It is my understanding, if DCing during the offering screen, a penalty is still issued. Because in order to pull this off you either have to pull your Internet connection or force close the game. As anyone who has to deal with DBD over the years knows, you get a disconnect penalty even if the game crashes while loading.
@Valuetown said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3941741#Comment_3941741
You do not get a disconnect penalty if you disconnect on the loading screen. Most killers who are insecure about their skills against competent survivors force close the game if they see a map offering. I see this at least 3 times a day from the killer side. They are free to relaunch the game and queue right back up. The only thing you lose is the offering you burnt, and any addons you might have had. A very small penalty, especially considering the relative ease in which killers get their best add ons.
Correct, you don't get a penalty but not sure why you are framing it as a killer sided issue. I've seen survivor do it too when they don't like a map offering. I've seen a few do it too when a killer brings survivor pudding - very odd behavior.
-
All great suggestions. The only push back I would be adding more sounds. Why thematically it would be awesome it can be a pain as a killer when you are trying to track when you have too much noise going on. Sure some noise but not an overload. The amount of times I think the vultures on Dead Dawg Saloon is a survivor one breaking a totem. Gets me every time.
-
How are any of your suggestions remotely fair (well, maybe the one about teabagging at exit gates)? I find your comment about looping interesting. Do you also want to remove killers who can shut down loops with ease too?
By the way, since you said you've been playing for ages, you should know that windows do get blocked and you can't just vault them repeatedly.
All that said, I have my suspicions that this isn't a legitimate post.

the EXACT events, word for word, were:
someone posts an image of frank stone saying "what a cool looking location I wonder if it will join the fog along with a new killer"
second person says "most likely a skin for trapper"
the official casting of frank stone account replies "this trapper fellow seems like a decent fellow. but rest assured frank is a unique being"
that's very explicit. Literally putting two and two together type of logic. They did say "he will be his own character" yes, but in response to someone saying he'd be a trapper skin. Its not "they should have been clear" because they were clear, just in the exact opposite direction. They were VERY clear about him not being a trapper skin. There is no excuse, they always did intend for it to be a chapter, there's no pretending that it wasn't the ENTIRE POINT OF THE GAME. And as a big fan of the game, I feel very cheated
Sure we can speculate there was meant to be a chapter but without any word, I don't know. True, if they game did well (I don't know the figures) I'm sure a chapter would come. I'll admit I don't follow news as closely as I used to so if they did l apologize.
I still think they were playing weasel words and in their reply they did mean a legendary skin. This is not a defense. In no way shape or form should they have answered like that if this was the case.
I know you are pissed about it but don't know why you are getting up me about it. I'm just contributing to the discussion my thoughts.

yeah, the game was building up to a frank stone chapter, they even said in a tweet that frank stone wouldn't be a trapper skin. I'm trying to raise my voice, be loud, and maybe if enough of us do, they'll reconsider
Have you been posting on BlueSky? I've seen someone posting about this there. I think it was a case of them using a technicality with their reply. They didn't specifically say he won't be a skin for Trapper they said he will be his own character and since he will be a legendary skin he will be considers his own character. They really should have been clear in their reply so not to get people's hopes up!

It's no wonder why I hardly visit here. No one wants discussion on these forums unless it's blowing smoke up their arse. What is the point of a discussion forum if people don't want to discuss ideas.
How are we supposed to grow, learn and share ideas if no one is willing to engage.
-
There is a lot to unpack here.
As someone who has completed every tome challenge it will be missed by me.
I'm trash at flashlight blinds too and groaned when I saw this. When I had this challenge in the tomes I did it with flashbang. Found it much easier. As for doing a "yoink" it's really not that hard. To say most people skipped these. What are you basing this on?
As for the aura quest. I think it's good they give us a quests that might shake up how we usually play. It's not like aura reading downs a survivor. Play how you normally do and don't act on it if you see an aura.
I'm not sure what you mean about "disabled" players. I watch a number of streamers with varying impairments who play just fine. I'm sure if you are basing it on your own circumstances but don't just assume someone can't play well because of disabilities.
To say you are forced to play certain killers or you miss out is wrong compared to the tome. The tome made you play certain killers to unlock lore so far they haven't had this in the quest system. As for rerolling dailies while that is true at least the daily now can be played as either role and so far they have just been activities that you do in a match anyway. You can usally do in one match now.
Now to the BP and rewards. Yes, it is terrible and they truly need to revisit this.
My take:
Bring back lore! Their excuse of "People were locked out of lore and it was unfair" is BS. I don't buy that reason.
BP and rewards need to be better.
Rift shouldn't be locked behind completing quests.
As a lover of the tome challenges I welcome more challenging quests as long as they meet the above.

Welp one new update and more fun.
For the record, saw all but Dracula (HUX, Plague, couple slingers…maybe they went bug hunting?) yesterday and all played fine.
What's apparently up with Nemi?
I heard his basic attacks don't count at all. He's my main but I haven't played him since the update so can't confirm.

I think there should be a disconnection penalty for all abandon situations. However, I understand why the abandon system is in place. There are killers who are not yet skilled enough to win games without slugging. This is to prevent slugging all 4 players to win. This change needed to happen. It will also force those less skilled killers to learn how to win without slugging.
Maybe the solution is that if a player abandons, that they are not "gone", instead they are replaced with a bot that is in the same state they were when they left?
I'm not sure why slugging is a sign that person has no skill.
-
Can you tell the difference between if someone abandons or DC? or do both just look like a DC?
-
I suspect this is a move to encourage people to play more regularly. With the old system you had unlimited amount of time. With this new system the quests will disappear after a while. Am I understanding that correctly?

Actually, I also just looked at the Twitch drop webpage and saw that it says it may take some time to fulfill in game, depending on the developer's fulfillment schedule. Maybe we just have to wait a day or something.
Did you end up getting the BP? I still haven't. I guess at this point I just might report it to them.

It's sad to see my fellow solo players really not enjoying it. Maybe It's because I play so infrequently now I can still enjoy it.
That being said, had time for two matches yesterday. Played on on Chaos Shuffle and one on normal. Both we were all dead at 5 gens.

and I feel like a lot of the killers that say it isn’t an issue don’t experience the other end of the spectrum enough to truly say it isn’t. Slugging has become endemic right now. It used to be slugging for the 4k, which was annoying and unfair feeling enough. But in the last few months killers slugging at 5/4/3 gens has become absolutely rife.
I'm around 70% survivor player and I just don't see this epidemic of slugging everyone around here sees. I suspect a lot of the claims are from people that count every slug no matter how short or infrequent in a match as excessive.
I see this a lot on Twitch. It's something so small such as a killer notices someone else around so makes sure it's safe to pick up and the person on the ground is already complaining about slugging.
That being said, I totally acknowledge my personal experiences doesn't mean others aren't having issues with slugging.

I can't blame the killers for tunneling/camping/slugging in chaos shuffle. they simply have no other choice.
That's a pretty weak sauce excuse. There is no tome/rewards for this mode. Even the incentives aren't better. Last time I played Killer was 50% on normal and 25% for survivor on chaos. I went and played killer. If you someone can't handle randomly assigned perks don't play the modifier.
-
@Wrecked said:
It's honestly a mixed bag for me. I can have matches that remind me of why I've been playing this game for so long and matches that make me want to rip my hair out. But, even with all of the issues solo queue has, I do prefer it to playing in a SWF. I kinda love the pure randomness of it all. Every day in solo queue is like Chaos Shuffle to be honest.
"I kinda love the pure randomness of it all."
That's one thing I love about it too. I think a lot of people who use the forums are people who play a lot and have high expectations (not saying anything is wrong with that).
I'm pretty chill. I don't mind if someone plays bad. Hell, I think most people can't claim they never make mistake or have off days. I had a game a couple of days ago where I screwed up two pallet saves that I could have got and got in the way of a flashlight save. Yes, one of the other players let me know in chat by calling me a "Dog tm8" TBF to me I was the only one to die and I did it making sure someone else got out.
TL;DR - As long as I can see all the other players are trying I don't really care if things go south. Sure, I might be saying to myself ######### but it's only the people who give up and don't help the rest of the team that piss me off.
-
@BurnedTerrormisu said:
I wonder why i should play it.
Normal incentives , no event tome, no badge, no banner.
So its normal mode just you escape even less because you have no control over your perks?!
Yep, just went on to play a few games and incentive was higher on regular mode. Saw no point in Chaos Shuffle. Not even a tome? Lazy.
-
I remember once upon a time you'd see a few that still thought soloq was okay. I must be the last one out there. For the most part I still don't mind it. If there ever comes a day I'll feel like most that have replied so far I'll just stop playing the game.

I should’ve specified but I am already Top 1% Huntress mains world wide and top .05% in 24 meter hatchet downs. Asking for tips was sarcasm which I should know doesn’t translate in text. You can’t just get better on indoor maps and loops where I can’t use my power.

It really its just being abused, I seen somethings get downvoted that is nothing but a simple general and friendly statement, like i got downvoted by 8 for accidentally sending a blank message from my phone lol.
Even something like I main x character gets downvoted. Idk why the devs are keeping this for. Feels no better than reddit and I may consider stop writting here until they wake up and remove it.
I should know better. Case in point someone downvoted my reply. Some people just get a kick out it thinking they upset someone else. I just need to ignore.

him and plague were supposed to get tweaks during November put got post-poned to a later date. I’m almost 100% sure that even if bhvr loses a license, it doesn’t mean they can’t make balance adjustments to the character. When stranger things was gone, demogorgon had multiple balance changes before the license got re-instated. I’d wish we got those balance changes before the announcement of hellraiser leaving since it would’ve prompted more people to purchase the chapter.
I do remember a dev mentioning that they can still do changes. This was during the time demo was gone and people were questioning if changes could happen to demo.

This is why I HATE the down vote button. Like why? I'm just sharing what I felt at the time. Why do people so feel so negative about my feelings? Negative feedback with no input.

It's bitter sweet for me. I started playing around the time this chapter was released. I still remember my very first match against a Pinhead where I encountered a bug where the sound of survivors screaming over and over happened during the whole match. It happened just after someone solved the box and I just thought it was part of his kit, to drive survivors crazy with the screams. I remembered thinking "This is wild". When I started I also decided I wanted to be a Pinhead main. I used to even shake my head at people who complained about him and would think "Just do the box!" It wasn't until I switched to playing survivor more that I realized what a pain he can be for people in soloq that I dropped my plans to main him.

Its bad. It could have been good, but suddenly Killer Mains were worried about Survivors being held hostage on the Hook. But the Devs could have just put an option for the hooked Survivor to avoid being affected by Reassurance and then it would have been a solution, but the Perk would have had some use.
Currently it is just an Anti-Camping Perk which is bad at Anti-Camping. 99% of the time I see it being used right before the Unhook so that the Survivors running it can at least press a button to know that they equipped the Perk. It cannot even be used above the Basement.
It wasn't just killer mains. I had that concern. I was worried that people would use it to extend my time on the hook and then go about their business. If people would actually do this is another matter but at the time it was a concern of mine.

Oh, yes 100%. I just didn't write that sentence very well.
-
I'm all for them working out ways to reduce people just going next but I'm against any system that try to interpret your intentions and slaps a penalty on you if it thinks you are doing wrong. I think a good case in point is survivors getting hit with a penalty when hackers get in an kill everyone right at the start.
Hopefully it will be a case of you need to do it a certain amount of times in a row for it to trigger. That way it will be less likely to impact innocent players.

In general, ppl tend to be somewhat selfish with their perk loadouts. They like using perks that help THEMSELVES rather than perks for their teammates.
I really don't blame people. I love perks that help the rest of the team. Not too long ago I went through a period of running a healing build to help others but gave it up because it became pointless no one was working with me and I was getting rare value from it . I was excited for Shoulder the Burden and I ran it for a bit but it became another pointless perk most of the time.
Besides always using Kindred the rest of the perks I run are more beatifical to me but I figure if they help me I can stick around longer in a match an hopefully help my team in other ways outside of perks.

I give up perks when I get bored. I barely use the meta perks because it gets boring after one game. Hell I don't even own off the record or decisive strike for anti tunnel. I would literally use maybe windows of opportunity and kindred as a must because SOLO QUE btw we are talking about solo que not SWF we all know SWF makes almost all aura perks that you use for the killer useless because everyone can say where the killer is 24/7. Also the HUD does not indicate anything about camping? There is no such thing as camping meter being shown unless you knowing how much time the survivor on hook has before the next phase as info on wether he is being camped or not.
"Also the HUD does not indicate anything about camping? There is no such thing as camping meter being shown unless you knowing how much time the survivor on hook has before the next phase as info on wether he is being camped or not."
No, the HUD doesn't show you but it can be used as a gage. See someone else has just stopped repairing a gen after the hook? It's a good indication that they are going for the save. See that the someone else is in chase? It's a good indication that the killer is not camping or at least distracted enough that you can go for the save. Etc, etc…
Look I'm a 100% soloQ player I understand the frustrations. I'm all for discussing on ways to improve the experience but there seems to be these types of players that just want absolutely everything spoon fed to them and never had to put any thought into playing. To me that would make for a boring game. I'm not saving this is you - just a general comment.

I don't know how long you have been playing but this is nothing new. Whenever any changes are announced the Chicken Littles all come out and claim that either survivors or killers will stop playing. I can't recall what the changes were now but I remember when I started back in 2021 there was a flood of killer players claiming that all killer mains will quit and the game will die.
