If it was completely hidden, like NOED, I could understand. But the person on the hook sees it. If I play in a duo I just type "monstrous" and my teammate knows to hurry it up. Let's face it, even if they did add a debuff indicator for the team, half the team would have no idea what it meant anyway.
I don't mind being outplayed, perks or not. Just prefer not to be cheesed because I am playing solo queue.
The thing is if you use the metric of "Oh, a SWF can call it out, why can't solo players be notified too?" Couldn't you apply that to hexes? SWF can call out where a Hex totem is to the team so why not just have them visible to solo players? We can't always fall on what SWFs can call out.
-
I feel it on both sides. Like other people have mentioned, I definitely feel it as a solo survivor. I get anxious that I'm going to let the other three survivors down or make myself look like a terrible player. If I load into a lobby and everyone else looks like they're way better than me, that just makes it worse.
I also tend to dwell on things (that's a me issue). Just today I debated whether I should even play, but I figured I'd have one game before work. In the end chat, another survivor accused me of not taking chases and doing anything all game.
The frustrating part is that I wasn't hiding. I took chases, and made god use of the tables to heal. I didn't hide once during the match. It wasn't until the first survivor was sacrificed that I realized I hadn't been hooked yet, but that was only because every time the killer downed me, they left me slugged and went after someone else instead. Sure, I didn't play a pro but for someone just to throw that out when it wasn't true. This made me turn the game off because I got to anxious I'd get another comment like this.
TL;DR: I get anxiety playing on both sides.

People are going to have a difference on what the consider "Toxic" but to those that say you can't be toxic in the game itself, I would disagree.
A few days ago I had a Sable run up to me with the killer while I was on a gen and point at me. When I ran off she kept trying to body block me. Once I was down she tbagged over me and once I was hooked, farmed me off the hook and once again body blocked me.
While this might not be up there in life as a terrible event I would say that's pretty toxic within the confines of the game.
Before anyone says "What did you do to deserve that?" Nothing, it was right at the start of the match and I was sitting on a gen. Hadn't even had any interaction with the Sable yet.

It's funny how taste cannot be questioned in a world where that questioning is exactly what differentiates drugstore makeup brands from MAC, or department stores t-shirts from Tommy Hilfiger's ones, Balenciaga's ones, etc.
Of course personal opinion matters, but it's kinda of a consensus that Armani makes awesome suits, Nike makes great sports sneakers, etc.And is precisely why Behavior should start paying more attention to their skins. Skins = Money. Or, at least, more money, cause in Behavior's case, DLCs = more money.
One could say that those skins are, more often than not, "kinda bad" because it needs to fit the "horror genre" thematics, but I'd love to know what are DbD's top 10 skins revenue. Something tells me there won't be a single "bad" skin in that top 10. Also, if that was the case, then why making a Ballerina skin for Kate? A LED Christmas Tree skin for Feng? Or even a Santa's Dwarf Helper for Dwight? I think we're past this point of "fantasy or some bling bling does not fit DBD at all". Heck, we got Trickster, for God's sake.
Also, I'm getting salty because everytime we try to discuss something in this forum, people start downvoting and refusing to elaborate. It is indeed infuriating. A forum is a place to discuss ideas, not to simply shun them and walk away slamming the door in the process. This kind of behavior sounds even more childish than being "salty for apparently no reason".
I'm sure they released a top 10 purchased skins not too long ago - sure it's on this forums if you searched.
On a side note, you really need to ignore the Vote Downs. I've been down voted for simply writing "Thank you" to someone. It means nothing.

If they don't care about punishing that kind of behavior, why do they have selectable categories for reporting players who do these things? That's very redundant and performative. It may sound pessimistic, but what I'm hearing is that the answer to my original question is one of my original predictions—that they simply don't care unless it involves exploits, specifically hacking.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4071847#Comment_4071847
I guess so, but like I said, I play on console. That’s even more steps for console players than for PC players, since we have to download captures to a mobile device before we can upload them anywhere. We also have to manually type out links because we can’t just copy and paste.
Ultimately, isn’t it bizarre that players have to jump through extra hoops just to get a standard report acted on? From what I’ve heard, they won’t even do anything anyway unless it involves a hacker.
That has always been my issue with the descriptions in the reporting system. I don't know if it's a case of "they don't care" it seems more of a case some of what is mentioned in the report system covers grey area reportable offences. Body blocking, working with the killer, idling, AFKing, refusing to participate in normal gameplay. These words can be open to interpretation for a lot of people. So while those things MAY be reportable they also rely on context of what is going on in the match for them consider it against the rules and to take action.
To be honest, I'm glad they just don't reply on someone making a report without evidence. The things I've seen some TTVs report people for are just silly.

Why are people defending this? If one little graphic change (that wasn't there before) will make it so people can play without issues, then just do it. Lots of people are colorblind, that's why there are colorblind settings. Lot of people have motion sickness, that's why many games have adjustments to help with nausea. We don't just tell these people not to play if a small fix will help.
I see this all the time - not just in this game either. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who just don't care about an issue until it affects them.
100% agree, for small visual change that has zero impact on gameplay I also don't understand why anyone would be against this.
-
This is just silly. Besides, I would imagine anyone doing this would be dodging a hell of a lot of lobbies.

@Aven_Fallen All gens were not done when I got on first hook, like I said I sat for most of first hook while the other two did gens he decided to camp hook anyways, plus at this point there is lots to do, other survivors to down, exit gates to survey like gtho of here with that nonsense.
@PleaseRewind Yes the other survivors kept instant unhooking while I was doing gens, I'm on the first hook for most of the last gen and it popped just before I went into second hook, that's not end game camping, he would have most likely gotten a 4k, I was on hook, there was one injured and one full health, yes he could've easily downed the injure and circled back to hook for us likely securing a 4k, camping the entire hook state is not participating in normal gameplay regardless of whether it's end game or not, in this case it was not end game when he started to camp, and then he proceeded to camp all the way through the last gen and then until I died, from first hook state till last.
This is a genuine question and I'm not trying to be agonistic here. If you're right he would have got a 4K If he did in fact do what you claim he should have done, the result would have been the same - you being sacrificed on first hook. What is there to be upset about? That they didn't play how you wanted?
BTW camping a hook its considered as participating in normal gameplay - it's not reportable. They are simply securing a kill.
-
TBF you state he spends the entire match chasing other survivors. You're on the first hook when the last gen pops. What do you really expect him to do? You claim he could have got a 4K if he left you but not that likely unless he was able to force a snowball or the others really messed up the save.

Always one that has to go there. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt as you may have forgotten but there were plenty of players who play just survivor or both roles complained about map offerings too.

This map is made for survivors in mind, not for Trickster himself. You can barely use his power here and chasing is a no-go since he's 4.4m/s and god windows/pallets exist almost everywhere plus big map.
Didn't the devs say it's on the smaller side out of all the maps? I think it just has the illusion of being large because of the layout.

Gotta be honest, as someone who plays both roles equally and spent my first thousand or so hours in the game as a killer main, I think the aura reading has gone a bit too far. The fact that people are acting like they can't find survs without them is a testament to that.
Back in the day, you had BBQ, OoO, and maybe like I'm All Ears, and we still found survs easily enough, and were in chase all the time. Now the lineup of really useful aura perks is like 10 deep (add the Distortion nerf to the pile). It's kinda like cognitive load theory - the less you use a mode of thinking/perception, the more it atrophies. It seems like a lot of newer killer players really feel like knowing where everyone is all the time is somehow necessary.
Now I won't act innocent here, I use some aura heavy builds on certain killers (mostly Executioner), but I know I'm being lazy, and it feels kinda cheap.
Frankly I think the proliferation of aura reading is part of the general focus on catering to casual players. It's not game breaking or anything but definitely feels like a bone being thrown to players who never developed their surv tracking skills. But maybe I'm just old and cranky lol.Nurses too. I just started using it again.

As a console player, there's no point reporting Communication Abuse because we aren't given access to post game chat. I personally don't think I've ever seen a obvious hacker, so I rarely report for Exploits either. So it's primarily Gameplay Abuse/Trolling or Unsportsmanlike behavior. Being AFK for most or all of the trial, not participating by hiding or doing laps of the outskirts of the map the entire trial, rage quitting, survivors allowing themselves to be hooked or working with the Killer, Killers working with survivors, bodyblocking, holding the game hostage, etc.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4070383#Comment_4070383
What do you mean by "evidence"? If you're using the in-game reporting system, you can type the reason for reporting after selecting a category, but I don't see any way of submitting recordings or screenshots through this system. There's not even a way to view match replays that I've ever seen.
When I do submit directly to the enforcement team, I have my console record the action in-game, download to my phone and trim it to less than 15 seconds before submitting it. It won't allow me to upload anything longer than that. The result is the reply emails I mentioned previously and I very rarely have ever seen confirmation in game.
I prefer to use the in-game system as it's less of a hassle, but I can't submit evidence there and console players weren't even able to type a reason until a update within the past year! We were only able to select a category and submit. Are PC players able to submit recordings or screenshots when reporting in-game? I've never heard of that before.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4070508#Comment_4070508
I've never talked to any of them verbally, but sometimes they end up sending toxic messages if they happen to also be a console player, but I don't think that voids a in-game report because Behavior doesn't have access to that.
Also, before my friends abandoned this game over the past year, We've reported people together for the same behavior and I never seen action taken. I'm beginning to think there is some sort of flaw with console reporting and it's extremely rare it's ever acted upon. I'm assuming all of you confirming that you do receive confirmation are all PC players. My friends on console have never received confirmation either during their time playing.
I think there lies the issue. What you listed is stuff they are unlikely to ban someone for and some of the other stuff there is most likely not enough on the video to prove that's what happened.
I believe they only send a notification if the ban happens. If they don't take action you won't get a notification. I would need someone else to confirm that though. In the 5 years I've been playing I have only reported two people. One I received an notification that they got a ban there other time I didn't receive a notification of the outcome - guess because no action was taken.
-
"but if I should use a wall hack I'm penalized."
Nope, there are some good aura reading perks for survivor too. Three of the four perks I run on survivor are aura reading.

As much as I'd love to see her, unless she does a total turn around, it's not going to happen. it's as @ShanoaLegendaryPlz mentioned. It's a part of her contact that there is to be no depictions of the Elvira character being killed or injured in a violent way.

I doubt it is being upset from a single previous match unless it was the match just before this where they were frustrated. People generally don't remember someone's name unless they made a previous match absolutely miserable (more than just left on hook during end game or played a killer they don't like) or they've had that person in their lobby multiple times and every time the person is frustrating them to the point the name now sticks out to them. What you're describing isn't anything memorable.
If it is just this one time it happened to you it was most likely something in the match. If this happens to you often then it is more likely from previous matches and you are probably doing more than just leaving someone on hook during end game or playing a killer they don't like that tunnels - it takes a bit more than that to make someone remember a players name in future match.
I have had this happen once. Played killer, next game switched survivor and got this Dwight in my lobby from my killer game. I sacrificed them but I didn't play ######### towards this player. They followed me around the whole time dropping pallets, vaulting windows and missing skill checks. Funny thing is they ended up being sacrificed before I did.
Buy, yes based on what the OP wrote I don't think it was the same situation.
-
What are you reporting people for? Care to share examples?
-
I've often questioned as to how they are screening people. I've seen a few that I would describe as very toxic players. I'm not shaming, play how you want but you would think to be included in a program like this where they are basically representing the game Bhvr would actually want people who would draw in new players. If I was on the fence or hadn't seen the game before and came across some of these people it would turn me off purchasing and playing.

Accessibility features are always great. Though I understand it must be hard to get the balance right so it helps those who need it while not giving those who don't too much of an extra advantage. Not "rubbish" at all. The killer knows the survivor wants to leave because their build is either completely oppressive or designed to be miserable. Telling them to "take the DC penalty" when a killer can hold a survivor soft locked into a match if they so choose out of pure spite is definitely an opinion of all time.
"The killer knows the survivor wants to leave because their build is either completely oppressive or designed to be miserable."
Not always. I play a lot of games when I go for two hooks each and let them leave and I still get players who want to throw a tantrum. I don't bring oppressive or miserable builds - very memey. The ones I find that do this the most are usually the ones that are hooked first. They don't even know how the game is going to go at that stage.

Regular DBD is not the same game that Mobile was, it wasn't even made by the same developers, it was merely licensed to them. Therefore, yes. It's apples and oranges.
It doesn't matter who the developers were, it's who the playerbase is. If there was a significant overlap then it is a fair comparison. I don't know the answer to that though.

I’m sorry to tag you but I was hoping for clarification on this as I want to make sure I’m not breaking the rules. Are you saying it’s reportable to farm entirely, or are you saying it’s reportable to farm and then get upset if one person doesn’t and then kill them?
I ask because I love to farm as killer specifically during events, where everyone works together as a team for a bunch of event quests and gets lots of blood points. Is what I’m doing not allowed?
I have seen Mandy respond in the past on the forums that farming is a gray area. Basically, it's not reportable in itself but if a player is forced to participate then it becomes reportable. This is what seemed to happened to the OP from their description and that's why it is reportable.
Of course , I'm not Mandy so will let her confirm for you.
Personally, I don't mind seeing it if the killer plays normal but then switches to farming once we are all on death hook. The ones I find boring are the killers that do nothing all match and stand around watching you do gens.

RIP to all those future Davids out there trying to get their adept done.
There are better ways imo to let other Survivors know what perks you've got in play. We already have a little icon pop up in the corner to inform your team about Vigil, We'll Make It etc being in effect. All BHVR have to do is expand the number of perks that the current system applies to. For example, a Deliverance icon could pop up when in proximity to a hooked Survivor, so your fellow Survivors know they should let you get the unhook. There could also be a new way to inform Survivors on the HUD a perk that allows recovery from the dying state is in use.
Letting Survivors see each other's perks in the lobby is the laziest solution to closing this knowledge gap between Solo and SWF. One that I think will probably cause more ill than good. I swear this game is 1 step forwards, 2 steps back half the time. I mean, we may as well bring back visible prestige levels to the lobby if we're getting back into the business of giving players a reason to go lobby shopping once again.
My understanding is you don't see the perks pre-game, just during it.

I ask the people who question this are they basing this on P100 players they actually know and regularly play with/watch or just on soloq experiences? We all have off games and days. I think if we are being honest all of have been there and played poorly, made bad plays and decisions in game, no matter how long where have been playing.
So that P100 might have play terrible in your match but maybe in their others they have been decent.
-
I agree this event hasn't been fun so far. I think it's been the worse. Yes, some terrible killers. Had one today where this Dracula hooked a Rebecca and kept hitting her over until she unhooked her self with AFC and would chase her down again. I even tried to take protection hits for her and he just ignored me. The upside was the other 3 of us got out but it must have sucked to be that Rebecca player.
For some reason survivors have been really bad too. I only play solo so I'm used to lots of mistakes (I'm guilty of that too). I'm fairly chill about all that but for some reason the players in the even this time have been extra bad. So many times I've been left on hook - I don't get that often in normal que. Just this match left to die on my first hook! No one even attempted the save.
Maybe it's a lot of players that don't play anymore just returning for the event?

No because this is the only game where we had to have a abandon feature because killers humped for 4 straight minutes while the otherside had to sit bleeding out. Any other game would be flame broiled for how disgusting that behavior is. But oh no we have to pretend people actively causing these issues aren't insanely insecure in their day to day.

No I will blame the player, BHVR is at fault with how much they flip flop on issues, but I'm tired of being lumped in with jerks who have irl issues they take out on people in a game. Not even league of Legends community sit on their heels and not call people on this. A toxic Yone is a toxic Yone it's not Riot's fault he's a loser or whatever irl. And no one pretends him being that way is just a strat
Look you might not like how they play but can we knock off the they have "irl issues". The vast majority of the people I've been annoyed at for how they play and when I've been able to interact with them in EGC or if they were a TTV, in their chat. I've backed down at my annoyance at them because they have been decent people (well, from what I can tell from my little interaction with them). It usually turns out it was nothing personal, nor were they trying to be toxic, ruin everyone's day, etc. They just were playing "I see survivor, I chase, down and hook them." Nothing more deep than that.

To the person who downvoted me. If you aren't just trolling I am genuinely interested as to why you have an issue with a bot replacing the killer. The OP and others claim they want this feature so it's not a "double standard" well to make it equal a bot should replace the killer.
-
This has been brought up many, many times. As long as a bot replaces them like with survivor. Otherwise I think it would be a terrible addition to the game.
-
I think it's been said enough but he is too slow. In my last game I was completing the "escape 10 chases" quest. In one "chase" I got the notification 5 times that I had escaped chase. He was on me the whole time, one point in the chase I could even see him and still got the notification! I just held W and kept using my environment to avoid blades.
The times I have played him I find that as long as the survivor holds W and is not out in the open chases go on forever. That has been the case for me too. I don't even both with pallets or to loop just hold that W and avoid blades - very easy to do on the new map too.
-
Posts like these actually convince me the Devs don't cater to only one side. The reason being, for every post like this you just get as many people claiming the Devs only care about survivors and go on to make their laundry list as to why.

Yeah but they were like quest lite version. Time to time no long term archive mission and with current system they seem to be adding way more quests with all releases. Not to mention the four dailies you get now when earlier it was one daily per day and most of the time were more annoying to gain as even in some cases they demanded you to play unoptionally to get them. They might have dialed down some BP gains but as I said I don't think they are that major. Not to mention any time there is problems they usually give quite a big compensation like the recent downtime that they gave everyone 750k BP. There is also the illusion of them changing the BP bonuses to show themselves with x1.25 instead of the old +25%. Apparently smaller number can make it seem the gain is smaller when in reality both are the same.
I think the old daily system gave you slightly more. You got one per day, with a maximum of three, and they paid out 30k each. I also remember they would regularly run bonuses where they doubled the BP, taking them up to 60k. With this one, yes, you get four per day, but each quest only pays out 5k.
They do compensate when there are issues, but like I mentioned, I remember times when we got 1 million because of problems.
For me, it was always 100%, and occasionally 50%. I’m not sure how 1.25 translates to that.
But yeah, I’m going off memory here, and if I’m wrong, I really wish one of the mods would jump in and say, “Nope, here are the stats, you’re wrong.”

Comms isn't the strongest factor when it comes to solos vs. SWF imo. Being about le to choose your teammate is far more powerful.
You know what they're running and why. You know if they're doing a challenge/daily/adept etc. You know they won't let you get to second stage if possible, and that they'll come back for you. Over time you learn their strengths and weaknesses and tendencies too.
No way most of that can be replicated among solos.
In the 5 years I've been playing this game Kindred is a perk that has almost never left my build. In this instance knowing if someone is going for an unhook is almost as good as being in a SWF for the Solos.

I think my reason is the same as yours too.
I recently got back into Binding Of Isaac however i have major difficulty with how each run is 50 minutes on average. I know there is quick save but i completely lose my mental momentum after pausing a run.
So i found i quite appreciate how DBD is also a replayable game but can be played in short burts. In fact i rarely play over an hr at a time. I be closing and opening the game many times a day. And that's okay.I used to be a huge Binding of Isaac player — over 1.5k hours. I don’t really play anymore, but I definitely get the time sink. I’d always tell myself I’d only play for 30 minutes to an hour, then end up gaming for hours. It was always, “Just one more run.”
Back to DBD. When I first started, I wasn’t working, so I played a lot. Now I work over the last three years I’ve had much less time for it. Now I play pretty sporadically, probably 3–4 matches every few days on average.
That honestly helps keep me sane with the game. TBH not much titls me in game and If I do have a bad match, I just turn it off and go watch TV with my husband. I don’t dwell on it. The only thing that really puts me in a mood is BS in EGC, but since most people I get matched with are on console, chat is rare anyway.

Someone was salty giving everyone a downvote XD
Yeah, I noticed that yesterday. Exactly one downvote on every post. Weird behaviour.
There are just some trolls around that seem to get a kick out of it. Not sure why, but each to their own I guess.

"he's ridiculously op he comes out the ground which is a guarantee hit"
Is this a serious comment? It's probably up there in one of the easier attacks to doge out of all the killers. Out of curiosity once you hear and see him coming towards you underground what do you do? If you keep holding W it's going to miss you.

As a P100 Jonah I appreciate this. I'm used of the "Oh" comments when I tell people I main him. I've just never got hung up on his lore. It's a fictional character after all.
I wanted to comment on this line though. "Not someone “conventionally attractive”"
That is one of the reason I started to main him because I thought he is good looking (well, for a computer character). I assume I'm not alone and that's why he got a shirtless skin. That being said, I hate his base cosmetic head - that is ugly. I never use it. The shades are a big no, no. Such a shame his prestige badge is ugly too. I was so happy with his latest skin that they finally did one with no glasses, headgear or hat.

I thought exposed meant the killer could see you so every time NOED popped I would run around in a panic like a headless chicken on the other hand when I tried to use NOED and couldn't see survivors auras I thought my game was bugged.
