I have noticed this happen a fair bit to me while playing. I just assumed the other player was just foolish. Never thought about it being intentional.

You didn't really go into detail why you think this about Sable. What is about her that makes her such a great character to you?

They've already stated they do not plan to show surv perks in the lobby because it would likely cause mass lobby dodging.
I've always believed the true power of SWF isn't comms directly, but mitigating the randomness of solo queue survs. Those that have played together for a while learn each other's strengths and weaknesses and tendencies. They know if someone is doing a daily or challenge. They will come back for you if possible, and be far less likely to let anyone go to second stage. Comms alone won't accomplish all of this.
Spot on. This is the strength of a SWF.

That's just false and if you've played the game for more then a few minutes in soloq you would know that. it don't tell us if someone is afk, it don't tell us if a killer is proxy camping a hook, it don't tell us things like "don't come for save i have deliverance" making certain perks more useful in swf then solo q.
the hud was a good minimum change that was needed but they need something like a comm wheel with pre made messages.Their comment was hyperbolic but they are on the right track. As someone who only plays solo I thought it was a game changer when it was introduced. It has improved my games.
The amount of people I watch play that never really pay any attention to the hud drives me crazy. It can give you so much information and help make smart decisions. People just sleep on it.

Once again a terribly designed survey. As soon as I saw the question about which killers you find frustrating in 2v8 I thought "Yup, guess they looking to put another killer in the sin bin".

You're all over the place with your claims. First stating that your experience in SoloQ is vastly different than everyone else and that you enjoy SoloQ. I point out all the common negative aspects of SoloQ gameplay that everyone is complaining about and some of which BHVR is desperately attempting to fix, to which you then state that those don't happen on a regular basis for you and most matches you either enjoy or are neutral about, but rarely upset with. You absolutely are allowed to have your own experiences, but when the majority of players have the same common experience that is different than yours, it removes the relevancy from your claimed experience.
BHVR has been rushing balance changes recently because the game is hot garbage and has been getting flack, that's what I mean. From rushing out afk crow changes to removing hook attempts for all players in effort to trap SoloQ into matches they don't want to be in. Rushing out a pallet density change without thinking about how atrocious that is for M1 Killers to rushing out changes to anti-slugging Surv perks before they even pushed out any anti-slugging measures to live. BHVR has been sloppy.
My only claim is that I'm not having a miserable time as a solo Q player, nothing more, nothing less. I don't believe I have ever written anything else that contradicts this position. I just baffles me that for some reason this upset people enough to down vote. For the record I have never once down voted anyone for stating this. Very interesting.
To say the "majority" rules and only their experience relevant is total BS. Not to mention, based on player count alone you can see the majority of players aren't posting on the forums/Twitter. Social media is notoriously bad at representing a majority view point for many reasons. I acknowledge there are people who see solo Q differently, but much like a movie, if I like it and there is a group of people telling me "No, it's #########, you shouldn't like it" I'm not going to change my view if I like the movie just because they are telling me I should.
I will make one thing clear and maybe this is what confuses people, I would never claim there isn't work that can and should be done to make the experience better. I'm not dismissing frustrations with the solo q experience. I just question if the game is that unplayable and miserable what keeps you coming back? You still seem to dodge that question.
Anyway, I'm all ears if you want to actually discuss what changes you think could be made to make the experience better. I just have no interested in going over the same "It's #########" with no discussion. If that's the case, I'm out!
It just really pisses me off when people tell me basically I should shut up and my experiences don't count for anything or some tin foil crap where I must just be making it for some unknown reason.

Oh okay. So your claim is that you are in the minority of the SoloQ experience that somehow doesn't see any of that negative gameplay, even though it's so rampant that BHVR has to rush out fixes to quell the community, right right. Got it, totally believable lol
Where did I claim that I never see any negative gameplay? Just this morning, I was thinking, “Can’t wait for the anti-slug measures,” while bleeding out. The killer left me slugged just so they could go for the 4K. I’m right next to a hook, so it’s not like they couldn’t hook me. It wasn’t fun. A couple of games latter a killer was tunnelling of hook and I was thinking "Guess they are getting it our of the system before the changes" I have no doubt it wasn't fun for that other player.
Back to the topic: am I not allowed to have my own experiences, or do I just need to go with the narrative and be hyperbolic, or else the peanut gallery comes out and downvotes because they can’t stand the fact that people have different experiences from them? Such a strange mindset.
I noticed you sidestepped my question, too. What keeps you coming back if it is such a miserable experience for you?
What is with your “totally believable” comment? What exactly are you referring to? I wouldn’t be playing and putting up with these forums if I didn’t still enjoy the game. Not sure what’s so hard to believe, that some people who value their time wouldn’t waste it on something they don’t enjoy.
On a final note, what exactly has BHVR “rushed” out? To use my example above about unfun play for anti-slug: they tried years ago and failed to bring it in. They tried again recently, scrapped it, and are now trying again. Who knows where that will end up after the PTB.

You said you enjoy yourself, but you didn't specify why you enjoy your SoloQ experience. Some people literally enjoy eating feces, yet objectively eating that is bad lol
If you find enjoyment with getting tunneled out or slugged at 5 gens, teammates going down 15 seconds into a match, no one doing gens, the constant DC's, Survs leaving each other on hook for two hook states or hiding all match, Survs afking, or matches being a complete loss because of the map rng… then I guess good for you?
Simply, the things you have listed just don't happen on a regular basis in my games. I have more games I enjoy or at least neutral on than ones that are miserable.
My question back to you if this happens to you on such a regular occurrence as you claim, why not cut your losses and move on? I can tell you without a doubt if my games got to the state you say you mentioned in you examples I would uninstall and not look back.

Great now i look like an idiot.
When the they announced the stream I'm sure they did mention that no chapter reveals would be made, but I get why people assumed it would happen if they missed that part.
-
It's very common for me to go for two hooks each and then let everyone go. Some folks have told me I shouldn’t do that because it supposedly messes with escape rates and makes BHVR think survivors need nerfs or killers need buffs. It's a point to consider, I guess.
Half the time I just feel bad killing people off, or someone does something hilarious and I can’t bring myself to sacrifice them. But then I feel bad for the others if I only let one person live, so, yeah, two hooks each it is.
That said, I totally get that not everyone’s into that this. Some players get salty if they think it’s a farm match (not what I'm doing though), and I’ve had some cranky endgame chats. I try to read the room, if anyone seems like they want no mercy, I’ll flip the switch and go full murder mode.
-
Back when I first started playing, I used to see a lot of them in the early hours, around 5 to 7 a.m. It was usually a mix of clickers (or whatever you call them) and idle killers. You could always tell when you were about to get matched with a clicker because they’d constantly toggle between ready and not ready until the timer ran out.
I’ll admit, sometimes it was a bit of a relief , especially if I was doing an escape or blind the killer Tome challenge, but yeah, it got boring fast.
I’d have to say I haven’t seen one in about two years now. I just assumed BHVR had finally figured out a way to deal with them. That said, I don’t play as much as I used to, so maybe that’s part of it. I still hop on during those early hours, though to get in a few games before work.

Depends, how good of a chance is there of Jackie Earl Hayley wanting to voice Freddy?
I guess that's the issue, isn't it? He might be onboard with doing it, heck he could even record them, but he doesn't get to make the decision if Bhvr can add the voice lines to the game.
-
Just yesterday I wrote in chat "I wish I was able to get the crystal before you killed me but it's all good. GLHF next" The word killed in my sentence was censored yet a few games later I wrote "Always happy to die to a SH fan" and die in my sentence was not censored.
Very inconsistent.

Same for me.
Every game has a natural skill curve. Some players are going to be very bad and some players are going to be very good and everything in between. The players who are struggling need to realize that if BHVR buffs their side/nerfs the other side and makes the game easier for them, that has serious consequences for game balance.
For example, blanket nerfs for killers or blanket buffs to survivors to help those survivor players on the lower end of the skills curve just makes the game more difficult for killer players across all skills levels. The very good killers will still be fine, but the bad killers will just get even worse, and the average-skilled killers will now be way more frustrated with the game. So all you have done is shifted frustration from one group to another and probably increased the amount of frustration overall across the player base. We are seeing a very good example of this now with some maps getting way too many strong pallets needlessly added to themThe goal for the balance team should be to minimize frustration across the entire skills curve, and I feel like they are doing a decent (but not perfect) job of that. There are still some busted killers that need to be further nerfed and some quality of life improvements to bring solo queue a bit closer to the level of SWF.
Our downvotes just show that people can't stand that we may have a difference experience. Sorry I'm not having a miserable experience like the downvoters. If it makes them feel better to downvote me, have at it. It has no impact on my experience in the game.

Your entire rebuttal hinges on stats that BHVR releases and not at all about the experiences of the majority of players, so no, I really don't care lol
You just cycle through the typical strawman talking points and even included the lamest one at the very end. Idk, do better, pretty lame tbh, I'd rate 1/10.
And what does your evidence hinge on? You state the majority of players but how do we know this? Social media posts and Twitch is not representative of the majority.
And what is wrong with asking you the question, why do you still play if the game is so miserable to you, what keeps you coming back? If you think the game is unplayable right now, what would you like to see to turn this around? Valid points if you are actually interested in a real discussion on the state of the game.
-
Sometimes I think I'm playing a different game to some people who comment on here about the state of solo q. This is just not my experience as a solo player at all. Sure, at times I have frustrations but for the most part I enjoy myself. That's why I continue to play.
-
@Dwight_Fairfield said:
Skull Merchant was in the top ten. I think that speaks more about the sorry state of solo queue than the killers.
Did the stats show how solo & SWF preform against her?
-
The issue with posts like this it doesn't prove anything besides you are escaping a lot. I could just as easily share my stats below and say the game is too hard now (not a stance I hold before anyone says anything in response). It was cut off but the bottom match everyone was killed and the top match the killer only hooked everyone twice and left us alone after that. If they went for kills we wouldn't have escaped.
Edit: I know they never will poke their heads out, but to the downvoters? What exactly did I write that made you downvote?

In the case of the ghostface I went against, it makes him look way further away from you than he rly is. So when you go for vaults, succeed said vault and then alrdy start running away (at least on your end)… Then you literally get teleported back on the ground, cause on the killers screen you were still vaulting and he hits u there. It's complete bs and unplayable.
in DBD anything above 100 ping is alrdy quiet horrendous in terms of hit detection. 200+ is just unplayable.
I think it was just the wi-fi in may case. I wasn't on VPN. And yes, It was unplayable. I only played enough to get the Anniversary rewards and didn't touch again until I got back home. Like I wrote, it was terrible as killer too so I was curious how it all worked but I guess people took objection to that.
Thanks for explaining.
-
I really don't understand why I got downvoted. It was a serious question. When I played with high ping it was miserable on both roles for me. So I wanted to understand more. I wasn't stating an opinion. I was simply sharing an experience I had.
Please I'm all ears, those who downvoted what is wrong for being curious?

This is the opposite of reality? Going into the void as the killer is a far larger time sink; their time is 4x as valuable as a survivor's. Moreover survivors get an item that directly progresses their objective without any input from them.
It's just as much as a waste of time for survivors. For the amount of time it takes to get enough to make a crystal, go into the void and get the crystal, leave and find an unoccupied gen, then find another gen to work on yourself and this can all be undone with a kick from the killer or being interrupted while getting and placing the crystal. You spend a lot less time sitting on a gen than doing that for something that might have no pay off at all.
-
What is the advantage? During the last anniversary event I was travelling Internationally and played some games on my crap laptop to get all the goodies. I had high ping most of the time I had to give up. As survivor I couldn't hit skill checks and would teleport like crazy. When playing killer it was just as bad. Every time I went to swing at someone they would teleport ahead of me and I could never get a hit in!

It might be bugged, or there are other conditions. I tried using on a gen that had no crystal (i could repair it normally/no white aura) and no one else repairing it but there was no prompt to use the crystal.
Then in a latter match it worked fine under seemingly the same conditions.
This got me thinking, I wonder if it's one use per gen even after it's all used all/gone. I put it on a gen and it was used after the killer kicked it. Much later on someone was working on the same gen. They hopped off to heal me and I thought I would put the crystal on and before they did. I didn't get the prompt and accidently dropped a smoke bomb instead.

Just to update:
After a 2 week break from the game, for obvious reasons… I go into the event as survivor, get completely hard tunneled by a dracula… Again PENALTY…
Why penalty when you cant handle this killer? Like, just Imagine I totally suck, I might be a new player… Why would I get a penalty?
I wish Bhvr would let us know how it works. I had two matches this week were where I was tunneled right off all my unhooks and didn't get a penalty. Not sure why some get it and others don't.

@Munky said:
10 matches in, still no opportunity to do this one quest. At least last match just now I know that I couldn't do it cause someone else was on the gen… not gonna throw the match just to find another gen solo tho.
You shouldn't have to throw. It will give you the option if you stand next to the gen. I was worried about this quests because I thought you needed to complete the gen while it was on though I put it on a gen and left to do another and still got progress towards the quest.

This dude really needs to show up along with a Tommy Jarvis survivor. My suggestion would be that he starts with his bog standard machete but gets a random weapon from a locker each time he opens it; sometimes he's a dash killer (good ol kitchen knife), sometimes he's a ranged one (spear) - dude has more kill variety on film than almost anyone and I think his power should reflect that. God help anyone who he gets hold of with his bare hands (head squeeze mori anyone?)
Plus how about a 2 killer comp mode against bots? Could work...as long as blight and wesker take a day off 😁
To be fair to Bhvr, Call of Duty and Fortnite are just skins. With DBD they have to come up with powers and perks, this will take time. Who knows, maybe they have the license and they are working on him. We can hope.

The Friday the 13th game was basically cancelled, despite developpers having big plans for it, due to licensing issues, apparently it's absolute hell to get the rights to Jason because there has been (maybe still is) a legal battle for the ownership of Jason.
Considering this killed an entire game, I doubt DBD would risk getting Jason only to have the Chapter removed soon after. From what I understand it's still a bit messy. I think the above mentioned two games went through the Jason Universe license. So you'd have to assume it's not impossible. Mathieu Cote has said in interviews that if given the opportunity they would have Jason in the game, they would be foolish not to. If they get that chance I have no doubt they will.
-
WOW. So after the complaints they doubled down and increased requirements even more?
-
Acknowledging is one thing but you we'll see if they follow through with action.
While I understand why they most probably can't do anything this Rift and that's why the say from the next Rift, you'd think they could easily increase the BP, Auric cell and Shard gains in the Rift. It's a little compensation at least.
-
I played 5 games yesterday and every one was an indoor map.
-
Yup, that's what concerns me is that they made a big song and dance about how they are going to dial back on content for a bit so they can work on quality of life and health of the game but what have they really brough in of significance? I don't think you can even argue it's a lot of "under the hood" type of improvements since the same old issues seem to plague the game. Pun not intended.
I'm not a doomer and I hope the game continues on for many years but I really think they need to pull a rabbit out of the hat at this stage.

What have I written that says everyone should play as much as I do?
If you only go by what I have written, what have I written that says that?If you are in doubt about what other people believe, you could ask you know.
Its better than assuming something and then giving me your assumptions, like I would recognize them.https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4010141#Comment_4010141
You didn't seem to note my explanation of the deal you accept in Battlepasses, I ask you again to please tell me if you understand the deal or you choose to gloss over the details and requirements of the deal and you seem to claim you or anyone else are entitled to the rewards of the paid track even tho someone might not have met the requirement. Because that claim is what, "I have paid for…" means in regards to Battlepasses.
Anyway back to the real meat of the discussion, BHVR will have to pick a number for the minimum possible requirement, my friend told me he spent minimum time in the events and finished all the quests in the last week. says he spent 15 hours on it for the last Rift. I don't know if that is true.
But as an example is 15hours in 3months the optimal commitment that BHVR should be looking for?
Too much or too little?"If you are in doubt about what other people believe, you could ask you know."
Hence, why I wrote it "came across" and "seem". I didn't state this is what you believed or ever wrote this specifically. This is basically asking what you believe. You replied that this isn't the case. Fair enough, end of story and it's getting off topic anyway.
As for the topic at hand. I've stated my case so there nothing else to say. I will add I'm not sure if 15 hours is correct. I'm at 14 hours for the last 30 days and I would have most likely played around the same for the other 2 months. Maybe slightly less 11 or 12 hours. I'm at level 97 on the Rift.

Please don't call me insulting names on the forum. Thank you very much.
I am here to have a productive discussion as much as anyone else. The free track is free and you are not forced to buy anything. You could choose to buy it at the end of its life cycle and make an informed choice if you want those paid track cosmetics or not. I buy it because I know I am likely to complete it. How is that really weird and elitist? It isn't.
What you buy is clearly stated, its a play track, it means its purpose is to reward you for playing the game.
The paid track is extra cosmetics which you can buy depending on how much you played.I think you kinda just want to confuse what deal BHVR offers here, the narrative that you say that you paid for the track somehow entitles you to cosmetics you have not played and earned yet is false, but I can see why you make that argument.
It sucks to have bought a paid track and then realize you cant finish it, somewhat losing money on what COULD have been gained. Ofc the wise decision is to hold your money until you know what you can reasonably get. But BHVR does also like to put enticing cosmetics ready on Level 1, encouraging you to buy in. I don't think we can persuade BHVR to not do that.
This is why I ask so what amount of game time should be enough to finish the Rift?
But rarely gives a serious amount, because I imagine they don't accept the deal of the Battlepass, having not understood what you accepted or maybe you don't care and see it as a bit of a protest against the Battlepass System.Either way is fine, but its a different discussion and BHVR is probably open to dialing back the grind.
The way you came across in your other post on this subject made it seem like you believe everyone should play as much as you do, or else they don’t deserve the rewards. Of course, I can’t read minds, I can only go by what you actually write.
As for how many hours someone should invest, that’s hard to say. Do you have a “sweet spot” number in mind? Personally, I still feel that since it’s called the Rift Quests and Rift Pass, completing all of the Rift Quests should be enough to finish it. The additional quests should serve as a bonus or as a boost for players who can’t finish every Rift Quest.
Sure, no one is forced to buy the Rift, but Bhvr is only hurting themselves if too many players stop buying because they feel like they can never complete it. I think they at least need to roll back to the numbers from the first iteration of the Rift/quest system. It still required a reasonable amount of playtime, but it felt much more fair.
-
I wish someone like you was writing the lore. Someone that can think of all angles and make it all make sense.
Regarding your final point, maybe she doesn't enjoy the killing but goes along with it because she thinks its her ticket to getting out of this situation and back in the spotlight. Since the lore indicates that she has become indifferent to the killing the Krasue does I assume she would feel this way in the Entity's realm too.

It has nothing to do with the number of matches played. It's to show I'm far from a killer main. I can't show that from stats. But I have played about a total of 7 matches as a SWF (never played with comms) and that last time was about two years ago.

Killer can just run any aura perk injure injure injure injure then slug partner tried to save the slug hit 2 slugs killer camps hits next slug. Win. Its almost every match because killers know they have to save because a player out makes the game way harder.
Killer main? Sure about that?

every argument you have suggested i have provided a reasonable counter argument, but you have failed to provide a counter argument for why players cant use TR as an indicator where the killer is camping. Even if killer is stealth there are perks to provide aura reading on the killers location.

I'd also refer to the fact that I'm not the only one saying this, as there have been a fair few forum veterans who were opposed to downvotes from the moment they were reintroduced as a "test".
Sorry, but I'm not impressed by a "some other people also said what I said" argument. Also what is a forum veteran? Is that a person that basically lives here, but just has a couple hundred hours ingame?
The thing is that downvotes do that in a negative, and frankly rather lazy manner, whereas upvotes do it in a positive manner, that also encourage posters to make well-thought out posts.
Just statements, no explanations.
- Why do downvotes "do that in a negative, and frankly rather lazy manner"?
- What is negative about a sign of disagreement?
- Why is it "lazy"?
- Why are upvotes doing "it in a positive manner"?
- Why do upvotes "also encourage posters to make well-thought out posts"?
Furthermore, when someone agrees… I'm not sure what you would expect someone to add? If you fully agree with someone, it's pointless to just repeat their, well points.
What if one agrees just partially? What if people upvote posts just based on who made the post? You're assuming that everyone behaves like yourself, which is a bold assumption. And btw. you could just reply and say "fully agree", but almost nobody does that (compared to how many upvotes some comments have).

Did people like the bird, or the statement? We can't know it. But I already explained this on page 1.
If you don't agree, you need to say why. And not just click a button.
Who made that rule? Where can I read it? Is this in the forum rules? People are just making up arbitrary rules and expect others to follow them. Where is this attitude coming from?
The big difference for me is about open discussion. If I post something and someone disagrees, I actually want to know why. They might change my mind, or at least help me see things from another angle. Just hitting the downvote button doesn’t do that.
I’ve had posts downvoted where I honestly couldn’t figure out the reason. If the person had taken a moment to explain, it would’ve been way more useful. That’s why I feel like a lot of downvotes often come from people who aren’t really interested in discussion, which makes you wonder why they’re here in the first place.
On the flip side, with upvotes it’s different. If someone agrees, there’s not much point in posting just “I agree” an upvote gets the message across. Unless, of course, they want to add on to the point, or they agree with some parts but not others.

This is still relevant! BHVR is still catering to the killer base, and has officially made it to where the majority of their player base (which are survivors) still have no perk to counter tunneling — unless you count that ONE that slaps the obsession on them and can only be used once the entire match? I still don't understand why we cannot use DS as many times as DH.
Usually new killers take some time to learn how to counter and such, but Ghoul has sparked the end of solo que for me. I fear that the Krasue will be the same for others — Why do we need another S-tier killer when we have neglected killers ready to be fixed up? Why not do an overhaul and make survivors unique as well?
Another idea is to create an emphasis (or a reward) on any kill rather than glorifying the 4k.
+Make it more rewarding to get hook states rather than tunneling out one person. +Make teamwork more rewarding than hiding out for hatch.
Unless you have numbers, I would assume the majority of the player base play both roles. Maybe not equally, but still play both roles regularly.
