So a killer who isn't top tier gets a straight nerf with no compensatory buff, but thats fine because low ranks do decent with her anyway. Whats her play/success rate in red ranks?
74.55% kill rate at rank 1 in the past week or so alone. That's an average of three kills per game, basically.
-
By design, you're not supposed to be able to. Once they're jumping, you shouldn't be able to close it. The issue is likely down to latency, where the killer closed the hatch on their end before the survivor jumps on their end. In that small window, the survivor's client would basically say, "Hey killer, I'm jumping in", but by the time it gets to the killer, their client goes, "No you're not, I already closed it" and cancels their escape. You might see some of the animation as the killer as well depending on how the timing plays out.
You're not supposed to be able to close it once they're jumping, basically. We'll take a look and see if there's something wonky going on, but it will probably just be latency.
-
For the Spirit, I would recommend Stridor or Predator. They'll help you keep track of survivors while phasing and I could not recommend them enough. Either one on their own are pretty good, both together might be a little overkill. If you're at a short loop, you can also use a very short phase to close most of the distance and then go for a regular hit. As long as you get close enough, they won't be able to get back to the pallet in time.

I mean it's not fair that her power is basically disabled at the end game. The nerf hit her too hard and she needs compensation.
The Pig isn't doing too poorly at the moment. Since the update, she is currently the fifth deadliest killer across all platforms with a fairly high kill rate. We're going to keep watching for feedback, but it does seem like she's doing pretty well.
-
The limits probably won't go away. They double as a safety measure to prevent someone from farming a radical amount of points (at most, you can get 8,000 in any category). There could always be more way to get points, though.
-
Most of them are not from one single person, but I did see someone going through old posts just to down vote them. They have been warned. If you ever see something like that, please let a mod know. We can see who's doing it and we will deal with them.
Gonna' go ahead and lock this now before it turns into a witch hunt.

It must of been easier on release as Huntress' hatches were insta-down if I recall before she got nerfed. Now I have to keep farting about trying to get that red add-on. It's a right pain.
Hatchets never instantly downed survivors by default. You have always needed the iridescent head to do that.
To keep it simple, this was a very ambitious achievement/trophy when it was first added. We later reduced the requirement to 20 downs on other platforms, but it's a little harder to change a trophy. As long as it's still possible, we're limited in how much we can change it. Unfortunately it's gotta' stay that way unless there's a radical change to the huntress that makes that trophy no longer possible.

The five people on the optimization team are only working on optimization. That's their only job right now, nothing else. However, that doesn't mean that there aren't more people working on it. As mentioned in the May dev update, we're going to be looking into maps and perks that cause performance drops next. This is going to require level designers and designers to get involved as well.
The short version is that the team for optimization all the time is five people, but they're not the only ones working on it.

Sorry 'bout that. We actually had questions we didn't get to answer because we ran out of time. Hopefully we'll get the chance to answer that some day.

All we can say right now is: Maybe.
We take a look at weaker perks when we get the chance to, so it's always possible. We don't have any concrete plans for that at the moment, though.
Enduring is actually getting buffed in terms of pallet stun time. It work out to around 43% shorter stuns right now and it's going to be 50% shorter stuns.

I HEAR what you're saying, but we ARE NOT STUPID! How many times must I say this to you? You're not changing DS back to 3 secs. You know it and we all know it. Nobody complained about Stuns at pallets with enduring. There's literally no real reason to bother it. Have you even seen the stats to Tinkerer after you killed it?
NOBODY USES IT
I was also told many times that we wouldn't be changing Mettle of Man, but we're currently working on changing that as well. We're not here to twiddle our mustaches and laugh nefariously, we are actually taking feedback and trying our best to make good changes.

>3. [...] Currently we need to make sure that anything affected by enduring lasts long enough that it doesn't render enduring completely useless.
Calm Spirit renders Spies From The Shadows useless
Iron WIll renders Stridor mostly useless
Aftercare, Empathy, playing SWF renders Knock Out useless
Why is Enduring being prioritized over those perks? Even if the stun times were shorter and Enduring was worse as a result of that then Enduring would still work on pallets which are in every game.
One of the biggest differences is the amount of counterplay those perks you listed have. When a perk is passive, it's okay for it to be hard countered by another perk. You gain a benefit and a perk on the other side takes it away. To use Spies from the Shadows and Calm Spirit as an example, the killer gains information on all survivors, and that particular survivor counters it with Calm Spirit. Neither side is earning the benefits, they're always active all the time. It's like a game of rock paper scissors.
When you have a perk that has a requirement, that's when it starts to get a bit more tricky. To go back to the decisive strike example, it's already pretty situational and very easy for the killer to play around it and avoid it completely. Having a perk hard counter it on top of that would be overkill.
-
It's a couple different reasons.
- The wording confused people. Many people think of "75% increased recovery" as "stuns only last 25% of the normal time". This is not the case. Instead of being stun time * (1 - 0.75), it's actually stun time / 1.75. Your stun is only reduced by about 43% when you increase the recovery speed by 75%. With stuns just being half as long, it's much simpler. 2 seconds becomes 1 seconds, bing bang boom, everyone understands.
- The pallet stun durations are actually going to be about 0.15 seconds shorter.
- This way we can re-evaluate stun perks and better balance their stun times. Currently we need to make sure that anything affected by enduring lasts long enough that it doesn't render enduring completely useless. Take a look at DS, for example. It was a 4 seconds stun, where the survivor was locked into the animation for one second. This leaves you with only ~1.28 seconds to run if the killer is using DS. As a result, the stun time was raised to 5 seconds, giving you ~1.85 seconds to run. With that in mind, we could potentially lower it back down to 4 seconds (or even 3 seconds) after this change, making it more consistent whether or not you're using enduring.
It basically allows us better control over balancing stun perks so you're not forced to run enduring just to counter them. All things considered, you probably aren't getting hit with stun perks all too often currently. Decisive strike is easily avoidable and Head On is like a unicorn (it just doesn't exist, and I won't believe you if you say you've seen one). Ultimately you're going to save loads more time with the pallet stun reduction than you would lose from stun perks.

Will there be any future applications?
Down the line if we end up needing new mods, sure. But for right now we've got a pretty decent amount of mods joining us so we're going to see how things play out first.
-
Yes, we do. We once had a large team of moderators, but over time some have been hired on for different roles, others have gone through changes in their personal lives and no longer have free time to dedicate to moderating. There's a couple still hanging in there, but they are very busy and don't get much time to hang out and post anymore (they work very hard and we are insanely lucky to have them). We took applications for new mods a while back and should have some new faces joining us soon. Hopefully you'll see more mods around shortly.
As for ACM, that stands for Associate Community Manager. These are the people responsible for game bans and appeals.
-
A hotfix is typically for bug fixes, not for balance changes. We're currently aiming to get a hotfix out next week but there will be no pig changes in that update. We're going to keep an eye on the pig and see if we need to make some changes before we make an decisions.

It'll be at 2PM EST (about 50 minutes from the time this was posted).

That probably wouldn't be an option. As you mentioned, Freddy does not belong to us, so adding a new fancy cosmetic for him wouldn't be easy. Beyond that, it wouldn't be consistent with other reworks/updates since we did not add unique cosmetics for those.
The real reward is the memories you've created with old Freddy and how nobody who plays after that will ever get the chance to play it.
Wow, that was too corny even for me. I feel dirty.

That seems like a waste of a stypic to get your perk to activate? Also weren't you guys going to nerf instant heals cause they're kinda dumb?
Nothing has been confirmed for changing insta-heals yet. It might seem like a waste at first, but all things considered, if that first chase lasts a decent amount (at least 80 seconds), that's a quick three generators right away. If that guy goes down and a second guy saves with a styptic and MoM, all they'd have to do is stall for another 80 seconds or so and the remaining two survivors could get the last two generators. It's got a real potential to snowball out of control if it's too easy to use early on.

@Ferazel said:
I agree that two protection hits would be better with this form. If it is a one time perk make it worth it! Not being downed by taking two protection hits in a row would be good.
Another thought was to make it so that it was 3 hits but the perk resets after being hooked. Thereby needing to lose the chase and heal.
We're still experimenting with different changes at the moment, it's not set in stone just yet, but I'll just throw a scenario out there for discussion.
- Survivor is being carried to a hook.
- Take a hit.
- Styptic.
- Take a hit.
- Take another hit, MoM activates.
You could basically get MoM right away with little to no effort. This could be a game changer at the start of the game, allowing the downed survivor to go free and restart the chase. This was a huge problem with the old DS and a big part of why it was changed.
Ideally it should be pretty hard to activate. The effects of the perk are huge and could completely change the course of a game. Making it too easy to get would be a bit of a problem.

That is not going to happen. It is perfectly clear in the EULA that anything is subject to changes at any time if it is deemed necessary. If you are outside of the refund window on your platform, we will not be able to make an exception here. It's the same situation as the Legion; we won't be issuing refunds any time we make a balance change.
IMPORTANT: BHVR MAY FIND IT NECESSARY TO MAKE UPDATES, OR RESET CERTAIN PARAMETERS TO BALANCE GAME PLAY AND USAGE OF THE GAME AND BHVR SERVICES. THESE UPDATES OR “RESETS” MAY CAUSE YOU SETBACKS WITHIN THE GAME AND MAY AFFECT CHARACTERS, GAMES, GROUPS OR OTHER ENTITLEMENTS UNDER YOUR CONTROL. BHVR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE THESE UPDATES AND IS NOT LIABLE TO YOU FOR THESE CHANGES.
You will have seen the EULA when you first launched the game, but you can also view it here: https://store.steampowered.com/eula/381210_eula_0

I imagine that it would be hilarious to run it, push the button, then run out before the killer can leave, but it probably wouldn't work so well in practice. The nurse in particular could completely ignore the elevators and teleport to the other side and wait for a hit, so it would just delay the inevitable.
-
@Spectro said:
Nah they pretty much removed the use for solo survivors and made it a very useful perk for SWF groups.
Anyone is able to run empathy and run in to take a hit when someone is injured or being carried to a hook. Alternatively, you could also take a hit for someone after unhooking them and it will also count as a protection hit. Basically it uses the same conditions as We're Gonna Live Forever's protection hits and that perk works for everyone, not just SWF.

Whats to stop a Wraith blocking you in a corner indefinitely?
A spicy ban.
To get back to the original topic, it has to do with the way the hitboxes work. Your hitbox pretty much always remains the same size, the exception being crouching (it get shorter, but it's just as wide as before). There's a couple reasons why it's like this, but generally speaking it's averaged between the different animations and states and doesn't change width because that would cause issues. For example, if it was more narrow while you were healthy and got wider when you're crawling along the ground, you would be able to stand in a narrow gap, go down, and then get stuck.
As far as the blocking someone in a corner goes, it's fair game so long as you're doing it to get a hit. If you're doing it to hold the game hostage, then that's an issue.
-
Hang on, I've got a crow for this.
-
We do not have any plans to change that achievement at this time since it is still possible to do. If it turns out that it's far too difficult to earn with the End Game Collapse, we could always review it down the line and make changes if it is necessary.
-
I skipped over a couple in the interest of time, but most of these seem very reasonable. I would say that Up the Ante and Coulrophobia don't really need a change. Both are very niche but provide some alternative playstyles as is. Up the Ante, when stacked with itself, can make for some great kobe builds. I also worry that the suggested rework for it would make it even f Coulrophobia also works great with a large terror radius build (doctor especially).
Most of these are very nice, though.

@Peanits More on the statue thing, it would be cool to have a statue on the 4 original survivors and the three original killers. I want a Dwight and Trapper statue. That would be awesome :D
I'd take it a step further and say a statue of the Trapper finding Dwight in a locker. That would be a perfect scene.

Good question. I would have no clue. I suppose anything's possible, but it wouldn't be my call to make. That would require a lot of discussion between them and us before I could give you a real answer. But I agree that it would be great to have statues of the different killers and survivors.
-
The key lies in the description of the perk. When the hatch is closed, the generators are not powered, they're just blocked and the gates are powered instead. If the perk says that it activates when the generators are completed, it will not become active. If the perk says that it activates when the gates are powered, it will become active.
-
It is unfortunate, but there was a bug that prevented them from being purchased. We could not fix that bug without a game update, so we were left with two options.
1) Leave it be, having only two perks be purchasable on the shrine and have it confuse people.
2) Reroll those ones so there's at least something available.
We felt that rerolling them would be the better option. I could check with the team to see if we could possibly put those perks back in once they're fixed, but I can't make any promises.
-
No, but now that you mention it, we should definitely try to work that into a weapon cosmetic at some point. That's a top tier dad joke.

Quick update, I can confirm that it won't be today. Sorry to disappoint, but it'll take a little more time.
-
I'm guilty of that too, sometimes. I mostly just play for fun so I'd rather hook a different person every time. It's not always the best option if you're trying to get kills. In the end, I wouldn't worry to much about how you're playing. If you want to win, play to win. If you're just looking to play casually and have fun, play for fun. Some people are going to like it, some aren't.
Usually I'll just think about what I could have done better. Even if it's just something small, knowing that I could have done something better gives me something to work on next time. Take a loss and turn it into something helpful, basically.
If all else fails, I just kill 'em with kindness. Usually they'll change their tone and realize how they sound.
-
It is soon™, that's about all we can say right now. We're aiming to have it out today, but we may put it out tomorrow if we run out of time. We know it's something people are looking forward to so we want to make sure we do it right instead of cutting it short just to get it out quickly.
-
To play Devil's Advocate, what would stop me and the rest of the survivors from hiding until all of the generators are unblocked? What would prevent a killer from just standing next to the only unblocked generator?
