Might have been a bug, but it also depends on what you're using to hit them. Franklin's Demise only activates on basic attacks, so something like the Pig's ambush or the Huntress' hatchets won't cause them to drop it.

I really dislike that # Of kills is the metric for killers doing well, as that really doesn’t shell explain HOW. Leatherface eats survivors who are overly altruistic for breakfast, and generally survivors are going to be altruistic if they think there’s a chance. I had a Legion game last night where an injured person bodyblocking me as I walked into the basement with a survivor let me snowball into a quick 4k 5 gen scenario since the 3rd person sandbagged the 4th. Does that game make Legion over-performing? I barely safety pipped that game. A 4 hook total 4K is a totally different story than an 8 hook 0K. I’d argue the first scenario is altruism lemmings getting punished while the second was a super close game and lends itself as a point in that killer’s favor for being fairly balanced.
”All killers average 2ks” is by itself really not a good metric to judge balance by.
This is true, and this is why we don't balance around stats alone. We do our research first.

Bad example, the cannibal lacks mobility. If Spirit is nerfd then more people will choose Billy and the Hag, and then suddenly those characters will be "overperforming."
You've just argued against yourself. You said that any killer a good player picks will over-perform, then immediately said that Leatherface can't over-perform. You can even go to a more extreme example and take the Hillbilly. The Hillbilly is still subject to pallets and windows. You get hit when you're out of position. His chainsaw limits his control. There's stuff that an equally good survivor can do to avoid going down if they outplay the killer. The better player has a chance to come out on top.

thank you for answering! so now people will know its just a matter of time and he someday will facecamp and tunnel in the entitys realm!
Nope, definitely not that. Even after the case is settled, there's still a matter of licensing. If the owner says "No, I don't want him to be in your game," there's nothing we can do about that. It's a solid maybe. that's all. Would it be cool? Sure. Are we promising it? Absolutely not.
-
Those stats did not consider rank. If you took a look at the Nurse before at all ranks, she was the weakest killer by a large margin- something I think we can all agree was not the case. Meanwhile, if you were to check her stats in red ranks on PC, you'd see that she would average more than three kills per match. This is why we don't balance based on data alone, and also why we urge you not to draw conclusions from those stats.
-
We've done that with Freddy and we'll be giving some love to other killers when their time comes. We can't do everything in one go, there's just not enough time for that. As it stands right now, there isn't a single killer that gets an average of below two kills per game (barring low rank console Nurse, as always).
-
Polls are great and all, but they're not exactly used for balance. There's just a feature added for fun so you can see what other people think.
The idea behind the Polls subforum is to give you a place to make a poll without getting in the way of the actual purpose of the forums- to discuss things. When you answer a poll, you get a message on your post saying what you picked and you're locked in. You can't change your mind if someone convinces you later on. This is why they're separate. We still want people to talk about stuff, not just pick their side and stick to it.
If one day the polls aren't as popular as they are now, we can always allow them back into General. For now, though, they're still getting quite a few votes.
-
Not sure what you'd like us to say. Possibly one day, but the rights to Jason are tied up in a legal dispute right now. We don't want to say, "No, never," but we also can't say, "Yes, absolutely."
-
If you knew what you were doing, you could probably exploit that. Sprinting in front of the killer would cause a chase, so sprinting over to Ghost Face as he stares at you through a window would force a chase to start and break him out of his power. You'd be safe since there's a window in the way and they wouldn't be able to stalk you.

@KillermainBTWm8 overperforming means she is getting 3-4k average per match where devs want every killer to be at 1-2k
2k is the target, not 1k. 1k on average would mean they're very weak and desperately need a buff.
-
I'd recommend not doing it until you find another killer you really like playing. If you find another killer you enjoy and don't mind playing while you prestige the Legion, sure, go for it. That way you've still got something you like in the meantime.
Prestiging doesn't really do much, though. It's completely optional and purely there to give people who play a ton something to do. So whether or not it's worth it is totally up to you.
-
The collapse basically just means when you see that big yellow bar at the top of the screen. The way I got it (and probably the easiest way) is by closing the hatch and checking each gate for the last survivor. You don't really have to do anything out of the ordinary for it, you'll just get it by playing the way you normally do. You can toss Remember Me on if you really want to maximize your chances, it'll help you out if the gates are really far apart.

I think you should also take into account that being revealed as the obsession at the start of the match is a dead giveaway of having DS...
DS does not guarantee that the person who is the obsession has DS. It picks a random survivor unless someone is using another obsession perk on top of that. It also doesn't necessarily mean that DS is in play, it could also be Object of Obsession or a key with a Wedding Ring.
-
I've pulled off five a couple times. It's super satisfying. Still haven't managed to get six or more in one go though- maybe some day.
Other than that, hitting Head On so much that you can go to a locker, stop running, and then hide and watch the killer fake out a locker that you're not in, or become paranoid of all lockers.

Lol me too I actually took 2 hours of my time to kill people with moris then I realized at the end . You just hook em ........
this game dude....
To be fair, the challenge does say "by any means." It would say something along the lines of "by your hand" if it was only for moris. I'm not sure how it can be any clearer, although if you have suggestions, we could definitely consider wording it differently in the future.
-
This is actually a good question and something that we would love to have at some point. The reason is pretty simple: Word filters can only do so much. Say you filter out the word "Elephant" (let's just pretend that's an insult so I don't have to deal with the forum's profanity filter). You can spell that 3lephant, 3l3ph4nt, e.lephant, Élephant, etc. The list goes on and on. You can try your best to catch it, but someone's always going to find a way to outsmart it.
It also doesn't catch stuff like telling someone to jump in front of a bus, since all of those words on their own are perfectly fine. Not to mention that other languages overlap with English (die = the in German).
Still, it is a good thing to have. Might as well catch some of it rather than none. The other half is a matter of priorities. Would we rather make a word filter, or work on a new disconnection handling system? We opted for the latter first since we already have a team of ACMs who can review chat reports.
Short version, definitely nice to have, wouldn't outright stop it, so we're focusing on the DCs first while the ACM team handles the chat stuff.

@Peanits can you explain this, please?
Not exactly sure what you'd like explained.
There (by default) isn't crossplay because games naturally work within the environment you purchased them. This means that Windows Store players only match with other Windows Store players, and Steam players with Steam players. No overlap.
We went ahead and made it so you can play with each other no matter where you bought the game. There's really no reason not to.
If you mean why is the option there to enable or disable crossplay, it's because we do have future plans for it. We mentioned them last week, but you can read up on the FAQs here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/100036/

You'll get a lot more as the next levels of the Tome unlock and you get new challenges to complete. The Serum stays in the Rift after the event ends, you don't need to rush.

You missed the point of my post entirely.
"Fun" should not be the sole reason for nerfing a killer, because "fun" is entirely subjective. If certain survivor players got their way, I guarantee there would be very few killer players having "fun."
If a killer is getting 4k's too consistently, or there's something specifically broken about their power (*Legion*), that's one thing. That's not why survivors want Spirit changed.
Coincidentally, she also happens to average three kills per game if not higher (with the target being two kills two escape). Fun is definitely a factor, but not the only thing that's considered. A game is meant to be fun though, advocating for not making the game fun is a hard sell.

killers don't have fun about 4 man SWFS with keys, and full co-ordination making the killers game a living hell, that isn't fun yet that has not been changed yet..... spirit is one of the only killers left after the nurse changes that can stand up to those SWF's afterwards, just looking at the nurse changes you have not given confidence to the community that you can change spirit to still be as strong as she is but "more fun for survivor" where fun for the survivor atm is bullying the killer
you said it yourself that it is not that spirit it to strong but just "not fun to play against" some people find that "not fun" factor as being UNABLE to bully the killer, and that for a change the KILLER has control of the game instead of the survivors which the killer SHOULD have control.
What you've just done is not explain why The Spirit shouldn't be changed, but rather list what else you'd like to see changed. I agree with what you've said, but not changing one thing because some other thing exists is how nothing gets done. These things take time, and like the recent instaheal changes, we'd like to revisit a lot of these things as soon as we've gotten the chance.

i have a question : Do you guys count any matches where someone dc'd?
Because the match is more in killer's favor the fewer survivors are in a match thus resulting in more kills. Do you count those killer where the survivor are in disatvantage when someone dc's?
All matches are saved. We can choose whether or not we want to filter them out, compare the two, or look for trends between the matches where people disconnected versus those where people didn't (e.g. Is a specific add-on always used?).
Overall, the matches with disconnects tend to look very similar to matches without (on average).

Probably you are ironic, but assuming you or someone else think this is true, I'm starting to believe otherwise.
When asked if Spirit is over performing because of the DCs @Peanits answered that they can filter out DCs. Now the question is: if you already can filter out DC, why is it so common? Why is the threshold for a ban, temporary or permanent, so high?
My stance is that Devs are afraid to alienate their player base: DbD players DC a lot, if they would start to punish them harshly they fear a massive drop in players, and that's where we are.
You (Devs) don't want to ban too easily people DCing which may be crashing? That's fair, everyday I get a "Disconnected from Host" at least a couple of times even if I doubt the killer DCed, I wouldn't want him or me to be panned for that, but at least put a 10 minutes timer on joining another game!
Yeah, it would suck for me to wait when I didn't do anything wrong, if that was to happen, but if this could at least try to discourage those serial DCers you have to do it.
..but I fear they won't.
That's not it at all. If it was, we wouldn't be doing exactly that (timeout when disconnecting). That's something we're already working on, and we're currently testing the new disconnection detection behind the scenes right now.

With that argument theres only one side being considered then..because a killers fun seems to never be the reason behind any change made in these scenarios..because they're always a down play on what they had before..so if a killer is destined to be ruined or become something less due to one sides fun factor then why give feedback that falls on deaf ears?
I'd suggest going back and looking at recent updates, there are good changes for both sides. Just recently instaheals, one of the biggest pains for killers, were gutted. We're not picking favourites here, it's pretty even if you look at the whole picture and not just a select few changes.

Are the changes planned to come after the doctor, legion and the billy/leatherface changes or is it a priority right now?
This much I can't say just yet, but I should be able to share much more in this upcoming dev update. The Doctor is still the next one to receive larger changes/a bigger pass (however you want to word it). Smaller tweaks for other killers can slip it at any time.
-
To say that nobody asked for changes is objectively untrue. It doesn't take much searching to find a whole trove of videos, threads, and comments about The Spirit. I think you're missing the point of the argument, it's very rarely about how powerful she is, it's about not being fun to play against. You cannot tell someone that they're having fun when they're not, that's not up to you to decide.
If you want to argue that a video game shouldn't be fun to play, I'm not sure what to say at that point.
-
@theArashi said:
How about Xbox Game Pass on PC owners? Can they play with PC people?
Yes. It doesn't matter how you got your hands on the game, if you're on PC, you're playing with everyone else on PC.
-
It's not being looked at right now, no. The EGC is purely meant to end the game and stop people from sticking around wasting time. As a survivor, if the hatch was closed, the odds are stacked against you. This is intentional; at this point, you've failed to do the generators and failed to find the hatch first. The killer has the upper hand now. You can still slip out the gates if you're lucky, but it's not meant to be consistent or reliable.
-
Is it true that you want to nerf Spirit? I suppose that's up to you to decide.
Being serious, though, she does have some changes coming.

But to get mettle to work with working protection hits, you still almost have to throw the game. I think something more consistent would be better for the perk.
You don't have to throw the game, you need to play altruistically. Hop in and take a hit for someone who's about to go down, block the hook when someone's about to wiggle, etc. If you get two or three survivors doing that, it's a game changer.
-
It's worth noting that protection hits are being updated soon so they're more reliable. That'll make it activate way more consistently.
-
I mean, technically he does still have a 6m radius in EW1. It's just hidden thanks to Undetectable. Although I can see how that might be confusing to someone who doesn't understand what Undetectable does.
He's just a little ashamed of how small his terror radius is, so he hides it.

See with everything you just listed has counters that arent perks, my original post wasnt about how you need perks because killers do, it was stating that survivors arent the only one forced to use perks "just in case". You can bait head on or slug through sabotage. But there are perks to make it better for people that dont like theres options, its the same with spirit, you can counter her without iron will if you make a correct read or guess, the trick is to force her to guess as well, or attempt to stay uninjured for as long as possible, but if you so get injured you can have iron will to help if you do. It's not neccessary but will help alot.
If you'd like, we can hop in a custom game and you can show me how you'd counter tunneling or camping without Decisive Strike or Borrowed Time. I'm willing to be proven wrong if you're up for it.
The point is that bringing a perk to counter a general behaviour that you can face regardless of who you're playing against is okay (e.g. Camping, any killer can camp). Bringing a perk to counter one specific thing is not. You cannot expect everyone to run a perk to counter something specific unless they know in advance what they're facing.
-
I would imagine that it would play out a little differently with a larger sample size. As a killer, if I see someone sit still I know they're recovering, so I'd generally be a little more cautious if I slugged them (probably keeping an eye on them, anticipating unbreakable or a save). If someone crawls immediately, I take that as "They're not recovering, I can wander away a little without them being picked up the second I turn my back."
I'd be curious to see how it goes, though!
-
He was always intended to lose bloodlust when placing snares, like all other killer powers. Accumulating bloodlust on top of slowing the survivors is excessive and doesn't require any skill.
-
There's a bit of a double standard going on here. The same can be said for camping or tunneling. The answer to those are Borrowed Time and Decisive Strike respectively. There are certain things on both sides that can be countered by perks.
That does not, however, mean that anyone should need to bring a specific perk just in case someone picks 1 of the 17 killers. That would be like having to bring Iron Maiden just in case someone is using Head On. Or to use a more practical example from the past, having to bring Iron Grasp just in case people sabotage hooks.
-
You don't, but it definitely helps. You can always submit them in Media Lounge if you don't happen to stream.

Uh excuse me, why did that not stalk anyone? Is that a bug?
It is. More specifically, it's a somewhat infrequent issue with stalking on dedicated servers. Sometimes you can stalk them just fine, other times there's a significant delay before you start stalking (and an equal delay after the survivor breaks line of sight). The same happens to Michael Myers sometimes. We've got a fix in today's hotfix and are keeping an eye on it.

If this were true borrowed time wouldn't work on leatherfaces chainsaw but it does, so....
I'm really unsure what that has to do with this. Leatherface does several attacks in succession, it's not a constant death beam. Each attack can hit any given survivor once. If you were to hit the survivor with two of his chainsaw swings, you would actually down them. Likewise, if you hit them with one basic attack, gave them Deep Wounds and then hit them again immediately after, they would still go down.

It is the same as your player level XP, yes. The vast majority of that XP comes from playtime, with only small bonuses for emblems. The only other notable source of XP comes from daily first match bonuses.
