Hey folks. Just wanted to step in here to let you know that the team is very much on the case!

Maybe, for the future, if you know that the forums are unmoderated for a period of time you guys really should limit the functions like some of us suggested - if technically possible. Not sure if all of it was the same person, but they for sure noticed that nothing happened over almost the span of an entire day and took advantage of it to post more.

Or at least a function that hides post that've gotten a certain amount of reports until they can be further reviewed.

Well many survivors begged on their knees to remove ruin and undying because totems could be kinda random and felt overwhelmt.

In my opinion they were very healthy for the game because the Killer had to leave the hooked area instantly so he could chase survivors away from gens so the perks can work. It also removed the annoying gen kicking.

Yeah they really could be random. How often did I spawn right next to a glowing totem or couldn’t reach it at all because it spawned in some other textures. It always was kind of a gamble for both sides.

But if it worked as intended, it slowed the game down in two ways. The active way with ruin just regressing the generators and the passive way with survivors going away from the gens to look for the totems. It’s the same thing with boons kind of. When they first were released, survivors rather ran around to look for a totem to set them up instead of going to a gen right away. Sure especially CoH was WAY too strong, but it was indirectly also another passive game slowdown.

It’s one of these things I will never really understand when people say generators are going too fast. As a survivor player you got nothing else to do in the game these days so what else are we supposed to do other than sitting on the gens?

The monkey's paw curls: Hex: Ruin and Hex: Undying are brought back to their most powerful states.

Oh god I would love to see both of them back again honestly. These two in combination at least gave you an incentive to do anything else than generators. Going out of my way to look for the burning totems for sure always has been more fun than having an almost finished gen blow up in your face and immediately locked up while you stand there like 🧍🏼‍♂️

  • Nobody has mentioned Lisa Garland or Yun-Jin with this perk yet, that’s sad :(

  • I doubt the game’s player base is big enough to add yet another separate queue. Depending on what server you are on it’s already hard sometimes to play a few rounds and not encounter the same players again and again.

  • Well, I apologise for starting the kitten chain since it gave the incentive to slip more gore in between by these dumbasses. I just wanted to spread a little positivity and a serotonin boost.

Said it before, will say it again - leaving a forum completely unmoderated for 12+ hours (and probably even longer if we are real, we just did not notice until now because the gore is STILL up) is unacceptable.

  • Damn I am glad I’ve woken up not to long ago, so I did not really register the gore in between the cute animal chain. But honestly, that more of these have been posted while the OG is also still up is insanity.

I know they are looking for new moderators, but if you already know you are short of them maybe you should limit the forum for this time. Especially because this isn’t anything new. Just a thought, but leaving the forum unmoderated for so long is kinda unacceptable.

That's about all he has going for his little ugly self. That and he has a massive hanging belly pouch.

He’s a very distinguished little gentleman, don’t be so hard on him. x)

Both of mine also have a rather big snack pack down there lol. They always show it off so I can pet or squeeze it. I’ve read somewhere that if the primordial pouch is big then the cat is healthy. No idea if that is true, but I like to believe so.

I remember one with gore gif as well of infamous person month ago, but wasn’t thinking that this is some kind of trend on this forum. Personally I’m not emotionally touched by this yet it’s still unpleasant.

One person here showed some kittens, but I am from bunny team, so here we are:

My own cutie pie also wish everyone the best

Your bun is adorable btw. What's his/her name?

  • Well, I wanted to report it and the entire picture flashed me. Peak forum design… here's a picture of some kittens to cleanse the palette.

Kindred or Bond? I like both of them but don't feel comfortable using both together. I feel like I'm wasting one slot.

If we are talking a full solo queue team I fear both together are kinda a necessity to work somewhat efficient. Kindred is kind of self explaining since it provides a lot of information to the entire group (if somebody is going for an unhook, killer patrolling, proxy camping or whatever) and bond can be somewhat of a crisis averter, preventing dragging the killer into somebody else on accident or taking the killer off somebody else who could be on death hook etc.

I get what you mean with the slot wasting but this is how this game has been functioning for a LONG time. Unfortunately for most of the game's life span they preferred to fix game design "issues" like this with (paid) bandaid perks. Borrowed Time was basically introduced to fight camping and also pretty much mandatory in any loadout pre basekit changes. And not even BT was enough since they had to introduce a second perk, Reassurance, to fight basically bad game design. Just to give you a different example of wasted perk slots.

I still kind of wonder why at least Kindred was never made basekit. Some people might say it would make 4 stack SWF even stronger but let's be real, I have never in my life seen a SWF group running Kindred. They usually sit in discord calls and talk about what's happening anyways so for them it would be rather obsolete. But for solo queue I think it would help quite a lot and even the odds a bit more.

    ~edit for typos

  • +1 on this topic. We had the same issues with Krasue, Ghoul, Hillbilly and Michael (that one was the biggest offender because he was playing scratched mirror and you could not even hear him breathe lol) and also on PC. A game restart fixed it for maybe 1-2 matches but then the bug returned.

Edit: forgot to mention, the game also sounded weirdly muffled and quiet in those matches, as if I turned my volume down by 50%

  • As somebody who is an absolute freaking potato in chases I always preferred stealth gameplay. But with how fast the crows pop up now I fear stealth gameplay is completely gutted.

…also, I haven't had the joy of a map that is Midwich yet. But eventually I will and I can already see myself there running around with 3 crows because I can't find a single generator on this map.

  • Honestly, both systems need to be killswitched immediately. The amount of flaws that both systems have is kind of out outrageous. Have these even been tested on the PTR at all?

At this point there have been so many reports of players getting a warning or even an actual penalty for suspicious behaviour because they got tunneled out, new players buying the game just to refund it an hour later because the same thing happened to them and now some killer players doing it on purpose just to spite survivor players. Not to start with all the Orela players that are being tunneled out on purpose by some fragile manchilds just because of her identity. (Correct me if I am wrong here but isn't this currently literally abusing an exploit?)

And not to start with the AFK crow bs. I literally got them because I had to run over half the map for an unhook. I've read from other players that they got them hiding close to a gen they have been working on before because the killer came to kick it, while they got slugged and even in chase.

But literally the worst offender currently is getting AFK crows when the exit gates are powered and the killer is running No Way Out and Remember Me. Like, what are you supposed to do? Pull another generator out of your behind to work on it? There is literally no way to counteract this. You might as well just build up a glowing billboard with I AM HERE written on it and place it above every remaining survivor in the game…

Talk about a quality of life update without the quality.

  • This map really is a mixed bag. The dungeons are for sure survivor sided but the outer area is killer sided as hell with nearly no loops nor good palettes. I mean there is literally one you can walk past when dropped??

I managed to escape there once so far and only because the killer was trying to play around the dungeon. Every other round the killer just stays outside and waits until you practically 3-Gen yourself. No clue what the map designers are doing lately but the last 3 maps(including reworked Haddonfield) have all been awful.

  • 4. Gen Speeds

For this part of the discussion I would like to
point out that gen regression perks are not the problem, gen speeds are.
Let's bring some numbers into it New Killer thats dosen't know a thing
about the game gets builled and ran like a fool right, Gens take 90
Seconds right so with the 5 you have to complete all in all takes about
7.5 Minutes and say if this new killer gets ran for about 2-3 mins
that's two gens gone and probably if they split out on gens okay another
one about to pop and this new killer has nothing to do to defend
themselves. So I think to make this better (My Solution Would Be To
Either, Extend the time it does to do gens from 90 to 100 seconds or
Make Base Regression more impactful so instead of 5 make it 10 or 12
progress off a gen or another way round it would be to, Everytime you
hook a survivor ur base regression kick speed goes up by 1%, I feel like
that would make the game on each side more balanced at high, mid and low
mmr and make it so that new killers have more of a fighting chance and
so that games are more relaxed for people.

I've said it once in a different post. Killers managed to get 4K's even when generators still had 80 charges. Simply because survivor players didn't feel pushed into gen rushing and were occupied with other things which often lead to their downfall. Nowadays when anything except sitting on a gen is considered trolling, what choice do we have? And contrary to what you think it has a heck of a lot to do with how oppressive gen regression perks have become, maybe not as a stand alone but the fact you can just stack them like that. Nobody likes holding M1 on a gen for 90 seconds + the factor of the abundance of slowdown, so asking for even more is kind of insane.

  • @Zaydin said:

…when are survivors going to see their ability to rush generators nerfed in turn? Because all BHVR is doing is encouraging Killers to tunnel to ease the pressure on them with all the regression/slowdown nerfs.

To be honest, if ANYTHING ELSE besides doing gens would not be considered trolling these days - then maybe gen rushing wouldn't be such an issue. But with the current meta of the game it's all a survivor can do. Guess it's the price y'all have to pay for wanting a gen kick meta and longer gen repair times.

  • @_Onyx_ said:

Intel perks exist. It's the players problem if they're playing solo and not using 'awareness' perks like Bond, Kindred, Circle Of Healing etc.

If everyone wants to use selfish full meta when playing with randoms, that's on them, they're robbing themself of intel.

Well, you already pointed out the big problem here. Solo queue players have to sacrifice 1-2 perk slots just for the game to be playable as a team which SWF groups do not have to, since they get that information about voice coms. Those perk slots could be used for way better perks.

Let's turn it around and say killers would suddenly have to sacrifice one of their perk slots for hook auras to be revealed. Y'all would be peeing your pants and the forum would be on fire.

  • @VomitMommy said:

Let's be actually honest, it's true for both sides.

I would want mainly generic perks to be somewhat decent at least.

I just mentioned the survivor perks only because this thread is about them. But you are for sure right that it also counts for the killer perks. Both sides have like 10 perks that are good which reflects in the "variety" we currently face in all games. It's tiring but I guess BHVR doesn't care since they said there won't be another meta shake up.

  • In all honesty, it would be easier to list the perks of survivors that do not need a change. Because most of them are just useless, extremely niche or straight up toxic.

  • @bleep275 said:

survivor times are disproportionately harder than killer tomes. Especially if you’re solo q. I have every single killer challenge completed, the hardest ones you can farm easily. Problem is….farming is a luxury for killers only as they control it. A lot almost entirely rely on the killer making massive mistakes which is only reliable in low mmr.

    some insane challenges:

Make killer miss basic attacks X amount of times in a single match. Wouldn’t be so bad if nurse and co swings counted as a basic attack

Repair FOUR generators in a single match while using dark sense. Basically need a team that doesn’t do gens but is insane at looping

Stun killer with a pallet x amount of times in a single match. I don’t get very many killers that just eat pallets. Best way to do this is to sit under a pallet, take the hit and drop.

They once said they wanted to go away from these type of survivor tomes, just for the last tome to be "blind the killer x time in a single trial" or "hinder the killer x times in a single trial"… lol

And then you had killers complaining in the forums about the abundance of aggressive survivors with flashlights on top of that.

I remember that Tome 1 had these really absurd ones you just named, and it took me weeks to finish that last page. I think I only got the 4 stuns in a single match done because I had some friendly trapper who was just farming with us. Otherwise I would probably still be sitting on it today.

  • @Star99er said:

Despite there being well over a 100 perks in the game, it feels like we rarely see perk balance changes. Every mid chapter or new chapter it seems like only 2-3 perks get tweaked despite only a handful of them actually being good. We still have perks like This Is Not Happening, Premonition, Bloodhound, Predator, etc which haven’t been touched in many years or not even at all. It would make the game feel more fresh and less repetitive if perks were balanced more often and more than just 2 or 3 of them every couple months.

Highly agree, there are so many perks on both sides that are (borderline) useless or so extremely nieche that they only work in certain situiations. The meta is so stale with every role having a pool of maybe ~ 10 useful perks. Also like ArcT said:

Since late July of last year, BHVR has only touched 5 survivor perks in any way. Five.

…and literally no good perks have been added since.

  • I would love if kills for bleeding out would reward 0 points whatsoever aditionally. I never found it fair that a killer gets points for kills while I am forced to wait out a 4 minute timer with no ability to do anything productive or recover and get no points becuase of this. Sure it won't stop many from doing it but it's only fair. Especially with Knock Out going rampant in solo queue games lately.

  • @Skillfulstone said:

Weirdly enough, it seems that it's kinda map-dependant.

Scratch marks in Lerys or Midwich are decent for me but I constantly lose them in Autohaven, Garden of Joy or Red Forest.

Yeah pretty much. On maps like Mother’s Dwelling they sometimes blend into the environment and are almost invisible. All three of the maps you named have this weird colour palette of darkish blue/green/red mixed together

For reporting for slugging, the devs said somewhere, and I believe in the rules too, that slugging, is not bannable, same thing for bleed outs I believe.

Thought as much, it's just for my own peace of mind I guess. The slugging itself I don't mind (if it doesn't last like 3/4 of the bleed out time) but purposefully bleeding out is toxic and BHVR should acknowledge that at least imo

  • I was always wondering why his power does not interact the same as Pig's power. But then again, if it would work like this the entire hindered effect wouldn't make much sense out of chase. BS regardless but I doubt they will ever address it since he's played so much

  • If they leave me on the floor to bleed out for literally no given reason I just report them after the game. I doubt it does anything but I'm not gonna do nothing while they are allowed to "remove" me from the game and wait out a timer. Only because the killer has nothing better to do in their life than wasting people's time doesn't mean that I don't.

    @Blueberry said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3710304#Comment_3710304

The only situation that is actually toxic is having all the survivors slugged and letting them bleed out, refusing to pick up anyone. This scenario almost never happens to even be worth mentioning or making changes to the game over. If someone sees this regularly I question the integrity of how them or their team is playing heavily. I play way more than most people and I never see this. Doubt I've even seen it once in the last 500 games.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with slugging for pressure or slugging one of the last two people while you look for the other. That's what the killer is forced to do because the hatch mechanic exists. If you don't want this scenario then argue for the hatches removal. It's just an RNG free escape chance for losing.

Slugging is not the same thing as bleeding survivors out. Those are two different scenarios.

While it's correct that there is nothing wrong to slug if there are two survivors left, I've had it often enough that I got slugged and bled out because the killer was not able to find the other survivor in that time. Again, 4 minutes of being removed from the game with no way to recover or do anything productive/gain BP just because the killer plays bad. And I am supposed to just sit there and watch that clown fiesta.

I'd rather buff it back to 100% silence but it applies Exhaustion itself while it is equipped. So you get the old strong effect, but you give up running an Exhaustion perk for it. That's a fair trade for how good the old 100% version is.

And not Exhausted while you are injured and it is active, while equipped. Otherwise you'd just run Exhaustion perks as well to get value from them before you're injured.

This makes it strong, but have a cost.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind this at all. I don’t play with exhaustion perks anyway because I always forget that I have them and then just completely blow them into the wind by accident :’)… but I do play a few survivors that are just way too loud by default cough Lisa Garland, Yun-Jin cough and since BHVR forgot that they wanted to address the noise balance issue like two years ago having this perk back to 100% would be amazing.

  • Ugh I do miss how much darker this game used to be. All the bright maps these days take so much immersion away. Slapping on thick fog, darkest moonlight and the default Claudette outfit and you were undetectable… memories :')

  • Well to be fair, Reassurance was a pay to win band aid solution for camping killers

  • @appleas said:

Default ruin is fine, the issue is with totem spawn logic as a whole and that's the reason why totem playstyle isn't as popular as regression.

You can have 400% regression on Ruin but if it gets cleansed within 20 seconds because it spawned next to Survivors, it won't get picked often

I always thought this "high risk, high reward" aspect of ruin was the main idea behind the entire perk. Like yeah, it has a very strong effect but it can also be dealt with really fast

  • My biggest wish would be perks from chapters that I bought not being locked away behind a massive BP grind on top of being behind a paywall already

also finally having the chase music updated for all the killers that have no unique one yet

lowering the amount of map copies (like 5 different coldwind farms/Preschools) and creating new maps for chapters that had none previously. I would LOVE to see a map for Yun-Jin and the Trickster

  • I don't necessarily have any perks in particular, I'd say. I would love to see more general perks tho. Especially on the survivor side I would love to see new ones, band aid perks like Reassurance being locked behind a paywall is somewhat outrageous. The last time we got one of these was when Shattered Hope was introduced for the killers to deal with boon totems. That was a nice way to deal with the boon meta without having to buy a whole new chapter.

I don't wanna hear it when I try to spread hooks and multiple survivors try blocking off hook.

It's not even a win/lose thing, it's a problem regardless for both sides. If it works, it's obnoxious and delays the game against weak M1 killers. If not, it's a detriment to your fellow survivors.

Well maybe in a SWF stack, I've yet to see a single survivor in solo queue using OTR for blocking a hook instead of idling around until it runs out. I do not doubt that the perk is hot garbage in general tho. A necessary evil for this "oh so healthy playstyle", especially since tunneling combined with PGTW is such a commong thing these days

  • @ChaosWam said:

At this point I say fair game

Decisive buff, no change to OTR, no change to BU+FTP, no change to Background Player and Flashbang going through walls. And survivors expect killers to adhere to a rulebook. I play both sides and I don't even care if I get tunneled as survivor, I completely understand it.

Sorry to say this but if you have issues with DS and OTR that's more a you problem than a perk problem really

  • @HamsterEnjoyer said:

    Wait whats the huntress advantage?

The hatchet wind up grunt of the huntress with this skin is so silent you can barely hear it. So it’s kinda hard to tell when to prepare for that

  • Well, whoever worked on this map actually managed to make it even worse than Midwich. Congratulations.

  • +1 on that

Hawkins is currently one of the worst maps when it comes to rubberbanding I've noticed

  • After playing a few more rounds here’s what I’ve gathered.

    • rubber banding on both survivors and killers
    • Getting stuck in windows while vaulting as a killer
    • Massive frame drops from the “hit” effect on both survivors and killers
    • Random teleporting/rollbacks on both killers and survivors
    • Xenomorph turrets somehow teleporting to a different spot as to where I placed them
    • Skull Merchant drones glitching high in the air or in the ground
    • Undestroyable pallet in RPD stairway if you are trying to kick it from the top level (kicking from the stairs work fine tho)
    • Killers having this weird vacuum effect towards hooks (like survivors had many years back with the pallets)
  • If it’s a third party program it is not intended to affect gameplay, hence I would say it is? Idk

Kind of the same thing with killers using VPN, also a third party program creating an advantage

  • I had some funky shenanigans as killer and survivor. As killer I was glitching over vaults, my FPS dropped to 5 every time I got a hit, as survivor I was rubberbanding on maps and then suddenly standing somewhere else, killers somewhat teleported towards the hooks before hooking. That engine change really messed things up again

  • Yeah same, when I hit a survivor or vault a window my FPS literally drop to 10-20

  • @Seraphor said:

There's definitely room for more accessibility options without affecting game balance.

For example; when survivors make audible footsteps within 16m of the killer, there could be a compass reticule (like shooters have for directional damage). That would equalise the playing field for hard of hearing players, and players with and without headsets.

Genuine question because I have to idea how these work. If they are directional, wouldn't this kind of defeat the purpose of shack and high T/L tiles since they would tell me where survivor is going?

  • It is a killer's job to find survivors. For that they already have a plethora of aura reading perks, scratch marks, crows, failed skill check alarms. Besides, what would your suggestion be? You can't have a big arrow pointing on top of their head, that's for sure.

  • After watching the entire thing(unfortunately), let's highlight some of the key things he said.

    • Exhaustion perks are not earned and you have to do nothing to get them

Cool beans, let us also talk about how almost all aura reading perks are not earned and you have to do nothing to get them.

    • The game wants to be skill based but there is nothing skillfull about exhaustion perks

Looking at the perks he is running, he's telling me that kicking a generator with Pop or getting lucky that a survivor got downed close to a scourge hook takes skill? Got it. Not to mention the aura reading perk he has to do so much for.

    • No counterplay

I mean you have perks that afflict exhaustion. There are also enough killer perks/powers that offer barely to no counterplay.

    • Boring to play against

Yeah no ######### sherlock, it's also boring to play against Pop, Pain Res and Grim Embrace every game now.

    • Basekit changes to survivors removing a lot of stategies for killers

The only strategy that really has been affected is facecamping with the anti facecamp meter and hook grabs being removed.

    • Maps being bad and consistently swing in the survivors' favour

This is the part where he really lost me. So many maps have gotten smaller to accomodate M1 killers while high mobility killers or area lockdown killers' kits have stayed practically untouched, basically handing them over the win. Generators spawn way closer together with some spawns being outright obnoxious with a distance of maybe 10 meters inbetween. BHVR almost removed all safe loops and pallets on their map reworks leaving us with barely anything to work with.

    • BHVR only really caring about survivors "having a blast" in matches

Bruh… Having a 30% win rate in solo queue is having a blast? The last time we have gotten a somewhat decent perk was like 4 chapters ago with MFT and this one since has been gutted to death. The only time I usually have a blast in this game is when I run meme builds in a SWF group or close the game.

    • Going back to skill based match making and perks winning the game for the survivors

Saying this with his whole chest while running Pop/Pain Res is kinda funny to me, since this build carries players like him in almost any (solo queue) game right now. And those players hit "the top MMR" with perks that are overtuned JUST LIKE HE SAID 😭

I don't know, he clearly never played in 2016/17 when this game was HEAVILY favoured towards the survivors with infinite loops, perma broken hooks, exhaustion not even being a thing yet just to name a few things. The game is already in the killer's favour now with the kill rate being higher than the survival rate. If he wants it to be even more tipped into the killers favour then good luck finding anybody who wants to play survivor at that point. It takes two to tango after all.

  • Honestly I am just waiting for the moment somebody starts to complain about the perk Hope at this point. And after that probably running altogether.

  • That would at the same time punish killers that might just have a lag spike or not the best internet connection in general.

While I think that using VPN for their advantage should be a bannable offence, since it’s basically cheating on certain killers, I don’t think there is much you can do on the game side besides changes to how hit validation is favoured. They could consider a VPN detection tho.

  • I still remember how it was totally okay for killers to pick the most oppresive area lockdown killers (Hag, Knight, Skull Merchant), force a 3 Gen and then keep that game hostage for 30+ minutes just to tell the survivors to "suck it up" or "simply play better". So yeah… what goes around comes back around I guess.

Besides, isn't it kind of the point of this game? Survivors hiding from the killer and the killer finding them?

  • This is giving me war flashbacks of the VPN huntress era…

The servers work heavily in favour of the killers when it comes to hit validation. If your ping is good and theirs is absolute hot garbage they still will get the hit. Even tho for you it looks like the situation on the screenshot
