It's not in any patch notes, and no developer has confirmed it as a deliberate change, so I'm about as certain as you can reasonably be.

They shadow nerf and buff stuff all the time.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

It's not a deliberate change. It'll probably be fixed in typical BHVR timeline fashion.

    Are you certain?

    Clocked it IMO.

I used to be of the same opinion that "I'm being tunneled all the time and it's making Survivor miserable" and then I saw this video and thought, wait he actually has a point here. You can actually check my post history and see I've complained about the abundance of camping/tunneling/slugging etc. in the past, particularly during events so I'm not just making this up here for anyone doubting.

I was fairly certain I was seeing tunneling way more than what he was saying so I decided to actually count how often it happens in my games and was faced with the realisation that me or my teammates were actually NOT being tunneled that often. At most it happens in ~2/10 matches and I was just overestimating it in my head due to negativity bias.

The vast majority of my Survivor matches were actually being ruined by OTHER Survivors. I get downvoted and hated on whenever I say this, but that's the truth. Survivors not doing gens, Survivors giving up, Survivors repeatedly making really bad plays, etc. is the reason most solo queue matches go south — not tunneling. It's just easier to blame an opponent than your own team.

I'm not saying tunneling doesn't happen — it definitely does and it is unpleasant when it crops up. But the rate people claim it happens at is verifiably untrue. Like no one has EVER proven it. For me, the claim "I'm being tunneled all the time." is just a blatant over exaggeration until I'm proven otherwise.

Thank you! I will absolutely concede that being tunneled at 5-3 gens sucks. It's one of the worst things in the game and absolutely needs to be addressed. But the changes they tried to push went way too far and honestly? It's not that prevalent. People hate that fact.

  • @Emeal said:

Not even 10 games go by without a few with Tunneling and Team-mates get sacrificed at 5 gens.

How are we supposed to even hope to deal with such games as Survivors???
Please BHVR we need that anti-tunneling system soon.

Please. It does not happen that often. I can go dozens of games without seeing hard tunneling. You can watch any survivor main stream and see it doesn't happen that often. The sample size is way greater than "personal experience". After a certain point people are either lying or grossly exaggerating.

    https://youtu.be/HI7FFpVpgRY?si=7A5KPyjPjxXRiCPG

Nobody can ever substantiate these claims. They just say it happens "every game" and gnash their teeth. Anybody that says this: message me. We can duo queue. If we see hard tunneling in like ten games I'll get you a steam game of your choice up to 40$. Prove it.

  • I'm not even sure map offerings work at 20%. Pretty sure it's a placebo.

  • It sounds really cool and unique to me, but survivors would hate it. Anything that's not an easily dodgeable projectile or dash attack is "boring".

  • You've nailed it exactly on the head. I don't understand why BHVR wastes development time on these sweeping, overwrought ideas when ones like yours are much easier to implement and smooth over the pain points they're trying to address.

  • I played survivor for about three hours last night(seeing if map offerings work) and saw hard tunneling precisely one time at 5 gens. It was me and a dracula. Fortunately my team saw what was happening and just did gens while he was proxy camping and got a 2 out after I was dead.

In short: I don't believe you. It's not congruent with my experience or the experience of any given survivor mains you can watch on twitch who have a much larger sample size than either of us. When you make sweeping and exaggerated statements like this it only harms your argument.

  • @SoGo said:

I say, wait for it, don't rush it.

If they rush it, you will get another dashslop killer.

This is the only type of killer that is palatable to the community, so it's what we're getting.

  • No hugging someone's ass for ten seconds waiting out dh was not less boring than just watching them run away. It was incredibly tedious.

  • @Trufas said:

How can I know if the developers are aware of this post? Generally speaking does one just makes a post here and hopes a dev sees it and leaves a reply or they can just look at it and not say anything?

Gotta get one of the popular and longtime forum people to post it.

Saw a sadako thread with like 50+ responses and great discussion get passed over, but one with like three posts from the in crowd warrant an official comment.

  • It still boggles my mind that they tacitly deleted a killer in response to people refusing to learn the very simple counterplay to her.

  • If I played one side I would have gotten the milestones.

But I don't. My time is spend 40/60 survivor killer. As such I wasn't gonna hook or unhook 5,000 or whatever people because my time is split doing both. Having the numbers so high only makes it so people like me aren't going to achieve them.

  • I play the game every weekend since blight came out and this is the first rift I've ever not completed.

It's focused on the daily thing. I am not giving this game an hour of my time every single day. It's not happening. It's ridiculous and anti consumer to expect it.

  • Eventually if they pat her wrist enough she might get a slight bruise.

Thank you once again, BHVR 😍! On to the next one.

I saw this too and was pleasantly surprised. I love the animated charms! Making my hooks look like a Christmas tree makes me happy.

  • Your sample size is one game. How do you feel comfortable drawing any conclusions from that?

So we can't body block but killers can proxy camp, tunnel and slug? If we can't have endurance why should killers get expose? Seems a bit out of balance to me.

Yeah because you're judging the balance as though it were scales or a seesaw. It's not. The game is asymmetrical. Each side is trying to do completely different things with different tools.

  • You are burned out. That stuff doesn't happen every game, maybe every dozen games.

For October this year I would very much love her second scan line to be put back.

The double pallets are worthless. They're more likely to get you killed than anything. Killers are way too strong right now. 3x survivor speed, new killers both have antiloop and auto aim. Its busted. Most on this site agree with me but you're both killer mains so what you say means nothing. You just want your easy wins. Attention BHVR solo q is MISERABLE!

Again: what buffs in particular are you talking about? All that stuff is just how the game works. It's not new nor a buff. Killers are faster than survivors because they have larger hitboxes and cannot loop as tightly. New killers having this or that is not a buff to killers in general, it's those killers in particular being broken.

I play 60/40 killer: survivor. Whatever the incentive is when I play. It seems like you're a newer player. You have gotta drop this us vs them mindset. It doesn't do anyone any good to try and paint others as a X main without considering the stuff they say. It's childish and short-sighted.

  • What buffs in particular are you talking about? The one where they added about a million filler pallets to maps that don't need it?

  • "Chase is the most fun part of the game"

    "Anyway increase gen times"

There's a certain disconnect here. Also good God do I hate emojis and this chatgpt garbage. Imagine outsourcing your creativity to a machine. Shameful.

  • @AdamZ said:

Waaaait a minute. Is this sarcasm i feel?

Yes it is sarcasm and a condemnation of BHVR's recent design choices.

I guess deathslinger could have a shotgun instead of a harpoon so he doesn't have to aim so much? Make the firing cone like half the screen.

  • You get millions of bloodpoints every event. After a certain point you're just playing to watch number go up.

  • She needs precisely zero compensation buffs. The mushroom thing is irrelevant as long as they take ten years to actually take effect.

  • Krasue is better than blight.

  • This is the first time since starting playing the game that I might not finish the rift. The dailies are bullshit. I am not going to be compelled to play your game when I don't feel like it. Feeling forced to play to complete stuff is not an enjoyable experience.

  • I wish they'd quit doing this stuff. First with ghoul and now this. It just dumbs down the game and makes it even more casual and one dimensional than it already is.

  • How does nurse power creep demo when she came out before him? That's not how power creep works.

It seems like you're advocating for all killers to be high C tier. Demo sucks. Against good survivors his shred is just a zoning tool rather than something you use to get hits outside of animation locks because it's piss easy to crouch tech and dodge at max range. I've had games where I didn't even have time to set up portals because gens got done so fast and it was back to back chases constantly.

Like if demo is your gold standard for what killers should be then you've got problems. You want pre-6.10 queues for survivor.

  • @XDgamer018 said:

what killers should bhvr think of when creating fun killers that are strong enough to hold actually work but also fun to play as AND against? (killers like demo who are seen as fair SUCK to play since demo currently is very weak)

They just want dash and easily dodgeable projectile killers, for forever. It's horribly boring and killing killer design.

Brother, it was legit my favourite perk, and is criminally underrated.

Have you ever played against a Tenacity survivor? If you take longer than 15 seconds slugging, you have a pretty good chance to lose your slug completely, and that Survibor isnt slowed down, they've been recovering that entire time and are well on their way to getting picked up, so Survivor downtime is drastically reduced. This is a set of advantages that Unbreakable doesn't have.

You can also crawl away from walls underneath killers as they try to pick you up, and that will often mess up smart killers who try to face walls to avoid flashies and force them to check the area. I've legit had moments where I've bought 10 extra seconds or more just from crawling under a killers FOV, which ahs meant the difference of a pain res or a grim embrace block.

Combine it with Plot Twist, and you have a pretty decent little self heal that you can do while on the move to another objective while also being very hard to see/hear.... with some very unique properties that are surprisingly versatile... and you can also use it again at end game to prepare for gate.

Tenacity is a great perk, and I always miss it when I dont have it. I really want the old version back 🥺

I rarely slug long enough as killer to notice it and on survivor I'm apparently the only person in the world that doesn't get slugged long enough for it to matter.

I'll concede that it's more popular than I thought.

  • @Alen_Starkly said:

I agree, I don't understand why they went through with this nerf. This perk has never been even close to being meta. Second of all, not only have the survivors lost the promised anti-slug from the PTB, but now they also lost a perk that helped mitigate the slugging. Even though it was hard to get value in the first place.

And also, if I heard correctly, Off the Record no longer offers Endurance?? Even though survivors lost the promised anti-tunnel from the PTB?

    So:

    1. anti-slug fell through, and on top of that an anti-slug perk (Tenacity) got gutted
    2. anti-tunnel fell through, and on top of that an anti-tunnel perk (Off the Record) got gutted(?)
    3. the new killer is insanely overpowered, making the survivor role much more miserable.

BHVR, what on Earth are you doing? No-one's gonna want to play survivor anymore…

While the change is ridiculous, let's be real. Nobody ran tenacity. It was a very very situational perk. They should have just added the new effects onto the old.

  • I can see that and it's appreciated, but I'm extremely tired of seeing people justify survivors slamming Ctrl in the exit gates because I had the temerity to play a low tier killer with little regression and tried to spread hooks. I understand that there are reasons to linger and that is not what I am attempting to address.

  • They probably already had it recoded and didn't want to revert it in order to not lose the work.

Which is silly. Just revert it.

  • @SalamanderAH said:

@Ohyakno I don't think this is a good idea because if every killer has the opportunity to discount when the exit gates are powered, what about the killers that want to stay to use no ed or even blood warden. It would harm those perks also ruin the element of surprise. For Example, just think to yourself, " hummmm, the killers aren't disconnecting, they must have something up their sleeve."

    This is a fair point.

  • @solidgamer44 said:

I feel like being able to abandon when exit gates are open would be fine, but they would need to replace the killer with a bot killer since there's people that do tome challenges in the endgame collapse.

What's stopping them from doing challenges on an empty map? I'm not advocating for the game to end, merely for the killer to no longer be present.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

Forcing the Killer to push you out actually does have a gameplay purpose. It wastes the Killer's time to let your teammates across the map get the other gate open (or whatever else) safely.

Outside of that though, it is often used for taunting and I wouldn't mind the Abandon system covering these situations.

Sure. But you could also just let the killer leave and all that stuff is irrelevant. You want to stay at the exit gate to buy your teammate time. The killer leaves. Congratulations! You've bought them the entire EGC duration.

That point might be relevant if this post were about punitive measures for survivors staying in the gate. It's not.

  • @dramafinesseXD said:

I don’t think buffing ruin was the play I’ve played this game for 9 years and ruin has been the meta go to perk for most of the games life span on killer

While I don’t hate ruin getting buffed it’s just kinda a slap in the face to survivors when it’s like yeah all your meta perks got nerfed to death in 6.1 then 6.70 but the other side will get their meta perk of 7 years buffed again

Did lithe, finesse, windows of opportunity and resilience get nerfed? I must have missed something.

  • @Zuiphrode said:

    Never played against Plague, huh?

And ghoul is basically just legion, right?

  • This is one of the only accessibility issues I've seen that actually has zero balance connotations. There's no reason for this to not be present unless it's related to how the power actually works?

  • I wish people would stop pretending like it's a slugtunnel apocalypse. It's just disingenuous. Watch any given survivor streamer and see how often that stuff happens. It's not very frequent at all. Certainly not "game after game".

OTR was changed due to anti tunneling reduction which didnt come to live, other perks was changed no mather of those anti tunnel or anti slug changes thats why I dont refer to them.

This screen was from official bhvr dev streams

Uh huh. All of those changes are dumb and unnecessary. Not just OTR.

  • As long as he gets a hitscan injury he's not going to feel good to play against. I'm not sure what compensation you could give him though.

  • It feels like 90% of reworks they revert. Maybe they just wanted one to go through to give them a win?

  • @majoreq said:

It clearly show that bhvr dont care about survivors anymore, they told about anti tunel or anti slug but they only buff those strats while nerfing anti tunel perks.

They also buff Krasue which was already insanely strong on ptb

BHVR are you insnae? do you even understand the game that you are creating?

Are you only listen to the killer players or what?

also why killer can see hook stages? so they can tunnel survivors more easly?

    Thats insane….

This post is also about the utterly asinine changes to Monitor and Leverage.

  • Shred is literally just a zoning tool against good survivors. Everyone knows how to crouch tech it and dodge it because they have been playing against it for years.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

I honestly think all it needs is an option to dig straight through the ground, leaving a portal there if one's available.

The whole having to place and then tunnel through to teleport is kind of clunky, I think they should be able to be combined into one action if there's not a portal nearby.

I don't think the portals should be indestructable. Xeno has the flame turrets and Springtrap has the camera reveal system as a downside. Demo has no such thing.

Shred is fine. Just that one QOL improvement will make portals far more worth it, which is what it needs.

Demo's downside is that it has to trundle over to where it wants the teleport then place it. I have had dozens of games where I just didn't have the time even use the teleport at all because there wasn't any time to set them up. I consider that a flaw in the character.

  • @Emeal said:

Yeah, if you want the full Rift, you need daily play too.

Its almost like the system was made to incentivize players to play and not for players who don't want to or cant play to still get a cool reward. I put in my hours playing surely I should be rewarded more than you?

If you are not playing, why should you still get rewarded?

Because that sucks and it's anti consumer?

  • @runningguy said:

100% agree that solo needs to be buffed to be in line with SWF, i play soloq so i know what its like. However, people dont want chat options, they even dont use the pre match lobby to attempt to communicate their perks. i used to say "running gen build" or something to let people know what i have but people dont bother to listen and just not interested. i recently said "running better together" please dont bring the killer to me when im 95% done on a gen" what happens? they bring the killer to me every time.

its like people want to win but dont want to win as a team they want to be able to do it alone and when they cant they complain about tunneling or slugging or op killers. i have people on my teams with no perks at all and then get annoyed when the killer brings their A game and wins.

You cant make people play as a team if they dont want to which is the key difference between solo and swf. swf are on the same page with the same goal. solo players might be trolling, or working on totems instead of gens or just want to meme and not always on the same page as the rest of the team. These things cant be solved unless bhvr changes it so survivors can win alone without teamwork, which obviously will mean swf would be untouchable.

It's the same issue as being straddled with a random team as any online game. Human beings have volition. They do stuff they want to do that makes sense to them, not what you want them do it. It's an. Intractable problem and I'd argue, not a problem at all. The world would be a less interesting place if everybody just did predictable stuff all the time.
