I feel like they're trying too hard to please everyone. Mobility killers hate indoor maps, while stealth killers love them, so their solution is the half indoors-half outdoor we seem to have gotten over the last couple years. Alot of killers complain about the main buildings of GoJ and EoC, so we get Fallen Refuge and Dead Sands as alternatives. If we couldn't get FNAF as a full indoor map, then i don't think we will be getting a full indoor map in future. I'd be very happy to be proven wrong though.

If we're complaining about aura reading making a role unskilled, are we also going to nuke perks like Windows?
I haven't seen anyone ask to nerf aura perks. They just want a reliable counter to them. More blindness perks for killers would be helpful against perks like Windows, but that would be a different thread

It just needs to go back to the way it was. Pointless nerf, imo.
I agree. I thought it was fine

Its funny how your response to 2 survivors popping a gen in 20 seconds. is a sheet that further proves whos doing it.
The devs themselves have said that they aim for a 60/40 for balance on both sides. This is what they said. Theyve aimed for 60/40 for YEARS these are the people who have alllllll the data, and they've been sticking to their guns for YEARS. Im pretty sure theirs a GOOD reason why they are saying 60/40 is balanced after reviewing ALLLLLL their data for YEARS.
What in the F*** are survivors doing to pull almost 10% past the intended escape %??? the swfs in high lobbies are popping gens like popcorn. No way in the world should you be able to pop a gen in 24-26 seconds with 2 people AND have coms.
Skull merchant has the highest kill rate record EVER which was like 70% when she was BROKEN ASF and they nerfed her to the ground. Anytime a killers target % rises as high as SWFs are right now they get nerfed to the ground, because behavior has said countless times 60/40 is balanced.
Well SWFs are 8% above the targeted balance. According to the devs, 60/40 is balanced so 60/50 is not balanced.
Popping a gen as fast as 4 mans can shouldn't be possible it just shouldn't.
It's got very little to do with the devs, since their 40/60 goal involves aspects of the game that they have direct control over. One thing that this community widely agrees upon is that voice comms are what give high performing swfs their leg up (and i guarantee all high MMR 4mans use voice comms), but this is done via third party communication systems. BHVR have no control over that, despite its influence undoubtedly being reflected in their stats. They can't distinguish who is using a third party system when it comes to breaking down escape rates.
The only feasible way they could balance around this would be to implement their own in-game voice communication system (which is a very unpopular option among the playerbase) and from there make changes as needed. Only then could we look at swf escape rates and say, 'hey, so, these swfs are (x) over the escape rate goal. The devs might need to look into this.'

I keep Huntress at 70% and probably will start there for him too.
I'll try at 70% tomorrow and see how i go

Finally got around to trying him today (PS5). I play at 100% sensitivity and I definitely felt it my first game, but my hits were getting more accurate by late game. Second game, even better. A few more games and i think i'll be fine. I probably should have done as another suggested and dropped my sensitivity down, but i didn't even think of that going in lol

quite opposite, i played since it first came out and i want that horror game element back which is part of the reason i play the way i do. i dont like looping, its boring. i want to evade the big scary killer that poses a threat to my life, not run in circles like scooby doo. If people want to loop, thats fine more power to them for doing what they enjoy but i enjoy stealth and doing gens….if people dont like that, thats their problem not mine. i have only offered advice to help people that hate soloq survivor and cant get any fun from it by saying what works for me and how i get fun out of the role and that outrages people lol. "how dare you not play my way". The controlling nature of some people astounds me but i still have fun and thats why i play.
It's understandably difficult for people to comprehend where you're coming from, as most long-time players have grown out of the horror and fear aspect due to typical overexposure. The devs have said before that the playerbase is what has evolved the game to the place it's at today, because the fear simply doesn't last long. They simply follow the trends of the players.
You seem to be holding onto remnants of the past that aren't really relevant anymore. I don't think your advice would "help" solo queue as much as make it worse. Not just for survivors, but playing killer against 4 survivors who just hide with the goal of getting hatch once everyone else dies? No thanks

Exactly that…. that is what attracts me to the game. The feeling that a horror game should bring, avoiding the killer at all cost, doing gens with suspense and anticipation, keeping my eyes peeled, listening, not knowing if the killer is heading to me or not, the struggle to survive, thinking "if im caught im dead".
Its a horror game and i enjoy treating it as such. I dont want to play survivor like "hey killer come get me" round in cirlces we go…."i know you cant touch me", pallet stun, tbag, run to the next pallet. Some survivors treat killers like a joke and thats not the game i have in mind when i play a horror game.
So you're a newer player then? The game always feels like horror to new players but it's actually natural for that fear to fade. It's like if you watched the same horror movie multiple times, it eventually stops scaring you. You see that in your own post, with the folks who run circles trying to get the killers attention. They're not treating them like a "joke," they've just played long enough that all fear is gone and chase (generally the only unpredictable factor in the game) is the only thing that gives them that dopamine hit anymore.

again, another flat out lie….non participation in avoiding the objective. I have repeatedly said i do not avoid the objective, i do gens, unhook a good looper so they can buy me more time which benefits them and me so its mutually beneficial. i do hexes if i come across one. my advice to you would be to first understand what the difference is between a rat that hides in the corner not doing anything and a player that does the objective while not being seen. Then you might understand a new way of playing lol. if you cant understand basic principals like that (which im pretty sure it was you that thought people were getting banned last year for doing the objectives) that would explain why you fail to understand how the game works.
Sounds like you do the bare minimum. I'm curious as to what even attracts you to the game if you go to such lengths to avoid any interaction with the killer at all

i also hope they fix matchmaking where they put the sweatiest vs sweatiest, and casuals vs casuals, the only issue will be the first 1-2 years where people will hate to struggle too often, but if bhvr will manage to pull through this then people will be happy overall, just make a proper mmr rank system where people get rewarded for being good and improve the anticheat map balance and dsync issues, even make higher fps viable would be really good for this game, for example start with 128tickrate servers.
This is how it should be. You'll find though that the sweatiest players hate playing against other sweaty players. They don't like challenge.

I love when you bring that if we balance around mid/low level players we will need to buff Nurse. Few people realize this.
People usually think that "mid/low level" only refers to randoms who don't know how to play survivor yet, but when we consider killers too, the situation gets strange: Blight and Nurse would need some buffs and Sadako, Pig and Legion (and Lich, now) would be the biggest issues in the game since the have really high killrates on low MMR.
Also, Ghoul is the epitome of "balance for lower skill level" design philosophy: he is easy to understand, has some skill ceiling and can make newcomers face veterans in the same ground. Do people really want that? Killers that play for themselves?
Peanits addressed the Nurse killrates ages ago. The stats give us the numbers but don't tell us the full story. Nurse is free with the base game and therefore is tried out by alot of new players. The difficulty in learning to play her, and subsequent giving up of playing her, drags her killrates down. If they buffed Nurse to make it easier for newcomers to pick her up and play her more successfully, the end result will always be a nerf to her in other areas.

Because I checked and everything is still linked, both according to Twitch as well as my BHVR account.Yeah mine always shows as red. I linked it all last night, then double checked it this afternoon and my PS5 had unlinked.
-
Hope not. I'll try him out tonight if my kids give me a chance. PC will always be the superior option but as long as he's playable I'll be happy
-
With over 40 killers in the game now, I don't think pick rate is a big factor for the devs. Some people will stick with new killers, while alot go back to their comfort picks.
-
Sounds like you're in a bad place mentally. I'd advise taking a break from this game. If you come back, keep chat closed from now on. Nothing that was said to you is excusable, and definitely make sure you reported it because BHVR will take action, but the anonymity of the internet unfortunately brings the worst of people out.
On another note, the First has only been out for several hours, so don't be hard on yourself. The entire playerbase is still learning to play as or against him.
-
They didnt have the assets last time, so that's why they didn't use for Jonathan. Nancy was the only one they tried to update and it seems to have been harder than they anticipated since they've said they'll be revisiting her. Eddie I think looks okay, personally. Maybe just the eyes slightly off.

I had a super obnoxious duo on my survivor team one night running Boil Over, Expo, Unbreakable, Dead Hard, etc and going for sabos/slug recovery. They made the Twins player DC. Next day I landed them in my killer match. It was grueling but I beat them. The amount of slugging I had to do was absurd though. Crazy to think they play that way all the time. I could never.
Good thing about this is the foresight. If I knew their gameplay, I'd bring a build to best counter it lol

I'm defending my interpretation of their post, which happens to align with defending them.
What interpretation is there?
They state BHVR has made stupid decisions in the past (correct). They ask why people still defend them (they don't, we are very critical of BHVR's poor decision making), and why people still support them (they themselves still actively play, so they can answer that for themselves).

Honestly, you'll be fine if you just play when you feel like it. I sometimes go ages without playing, but you can catch up on multiple quests in just a handful of games. Just remind yourself that you don't have to finish them all the week they come out. You can always do it later when you can be bothered.

I can't speak for what OP intended, but I take it as both a vent and a commentary on the community's lack of criticism — sure, plenty of people do criticize BHVR, but more people could and should do that.
Half the stuff they listed happened years ago. If it wasn't enough to chase themselves off, then why are they here judging others for it? They're no different

It doesn't stress me out at all (I have anxiety irl and avoid all things that trigger it, kind of amusing that DBD does not lol) but I've seen alot of people put their stress down to performance anxiety. I think it helps to remember the people you're playing with don't know you from a bar of soap and you could walk past each other on the street later that day and not have a clue. You don't owe strangers anything.
-
@Jay_Whyask said:
I can only remember this happening twice, and both times the survivor inexplicably got worse at the game.
They'd camp lockers & wait for the hatch when there was still 2 other survivors alive.
Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe they recognized me too & didn't want to help me survive? 🤔
Probably did recognise you lol I was playing on anonymous so this guy would have had no clue

@ShanoaLegendaryPlz said:
Or even the reverse where you get nearly camped to death then hard tunneled off the hook, and 5 rounds later that killer is one of the survivors in your lobby lol
Ohh they'd be safer lobby dodging me after that haha
-
It's just a cycle though. Once you start tunnelling you're literally leaving the other 3 with no interaction and nothing else to do but sit undisturbed on gens. You're putting no pressure on them. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
It's perfectly normal for a couple of gens to pop by the time you get the ball rolling. I think too many people panic at that point, but the game slows down considerably once you get that first hook - while they're on hook, you're chasing/downing someone else, another has to unhook and heal, and only one is now on a gen (presumably, if it's solo queue they could just be opening a chest or doing a totem). I've played long enough that a couple early gen pops don't even phase me at that point. I've had many many games where I've made some big misplays and still came out on top. This game can be very forgiving.
-
It's designed to be killer sided. And i think the fact that everyone agrees that levelling the playing field requires 4 people on comms (which aren't even a part of the base game) with coordinating perks, in order to beat out 1 person playing alone (and even then, it's not a guarantee), shows that killer is successfully the stronger role as designed.
-
The young girl is like the heroine from some YA fantasy series. I won't be able to take it seriously if she wins. The older woman has clearly seen some ######### and I want to know her story. I do think you're right that it'll come down to the women.

I saw someone else say the same thing elsewhere, that they didn't realize there were 4 options

The older lady for sure

This is a skill issue, ghoul is nothing more then a legion with a leap. After your injured just like legion, he turns into a m1 killer. Theres only 2 ways you could think such a thing is OP.
- if you struggle looping killers
- If holding W is your main tactic towards every killer
because if you do any of those things against ghoul he will destroy you. Ghoul has plenty counterplay and pretty blatant weaknesses which is why he hasn't been nerfed. Annoyance doesn't = nerf
So it's on the survivors to be skillful when Ghoul requires no skill to play at all. Skill should be required from both roles. There's a reason he's so popular.

Get them to watch this 11 hour Otz video on every Killer so they can get an idea of the right counter play. Then get them to watch the 10 hour sequel!
https://youtu.be/xHFHiLcCmTk?si=NWP8ZuT1-oKa0phP
Obviously I'm being a little facetious here. I know Otz has published shorter beginner focused videos, too.
The point I'm making is that DBD is not at all a friendly welcome to new comers (or even lapsed returning players). There's a crazy amount to learn before you even begin to feel like you've started to understand how to play. It took me a while to figure out that DBD is designed around giving the Killer free rein to be as ruthless as they please. There's almost nothing you can do to help your friends Survive a Killer's attention if they're so dead set on eliminating them.
The way I see it, there are two ways to enjoy this game. Firstly, be ultra casual. Never care about winning at all. Take nothing seriously or personally. I had the most amount of fun when I first started playing and had zero expectations beyond hoping for a good scare or two. It was only later on when I stopped feeling the fear that frustrations started to bite.
Or secondly, be a total sweat and go all in and learn everything that you can. Become super obsessed and dedicated to improving. It takes a certain kind of stubborn personality to persevere with this game if you really want to take things more "seriously".
I bet it's the players that fall between these two extremes who eventually hit a wall they just can't push past (this is where I think I am). Maybe your friends will be reminded that DBD just isn't for them. It's definitely not a game for everybody and that's OK. I'm not even sure it's a game for me anymore and I'm 1000 hours into the weeds.
21 hours of homework 😭 off to DBD school with the lot of them

I don't use social media so kind of just gravitated here and stayed due to shared interest in the game. Found like-minded people to socialise, vent, and commiserate with, as well as give feedback, get news and codes, read patch notes etc. It's alot quieter nowadays than it used to be, which is a shame.

Yes, it's mainly usable by SWFs, but no, people rarely encounter it not because they rarely encounter SWFs, but because SWFs have better means to counter tunneling. If they are organized, they can just hide their teammate the whole game, they won't even need the Shoulder in the first place.
A self-imposed 3v1 isn't much of a counter
-
I think a big part of why people don't see it much is because it's likely more commonly used by full swf teams and they aren't as prevalent as people like to believe.
The first and only time I equipped StB was a few days ago when I got it randomly in CS, and the killer spread hooks and I was the first to be hooked second. So I didn't even have a chance to use it. As for why solo queuers aren't likely to use it, I'll go with all of your above reasons - the risk is too high to carry for team mates who tend to disappoint you more often than not.

then how come we never got the anti tunneling or slugging changes?
that goes against your whole statement killer mains especially YouTubers have more power over anyone in the community they got almost every change revertedYeah, content creators prioritise their content, not necessarily the health of the game. Case in point was the tightening of matchmaking after Chucky's release. Heaps of the popular cc's released videos arguing against it, and their arguments revolved around their content - for example, that they can't chat with their viewers as much if their opponents are too challenging. It was just 'me, me, me' over a change that positively influenced the game for probably hundreds of thousands of players worldwide. And this was from content creators who played both sides.
