3 releases per year the player base would get bored.
Not if they filled the gaps with other stuff. More modifiers, blood feasts, special quests with special cosmetics etc.
-
If matchmaking worked, they'd just be playing against each other
-
I can't see them putting voice chat in. It'd just be another thing they'd have to sink time and resources into policing. A chat wheel would be a good alternative though.
-
Guess it depends on what you consider toxic. For me, it's insults, slurs, threats, tracking other players down on social media, etc. Things like tbagging in the exit gate, I think is just bad manners. Same as hitting on hook and humping on the ground. It's being a sore winner. I brush it off because ultimately I can't control the actions of others so no point in letting it ruin my mood.

The stats are not realistic. Most survivors don't play well. Assuming you play against 4 good players. solo queue or not survivor is still better. I'd be happy to show you some games from my own records if you'd like me to prove it.
You dismiss the official stats then offer to show your own as though that would paint a more realistic picture of the game. You're one person, and you may not even be very good at the game. I'll refer to the devs stats, personally.

It actually explains how even long time players can and do fundamentally misunderstand how the game is and even dont fully understand the rules of the game. This also explains how some long time players struggle (not all but there are some).
Fact is, nothing wrong with playing selfishly, nothing wrong with leaving someone on hook to do gens or escape. And It is certainly not griefing or reportable or bannable to not unhook people. If people are truly under the impression leaving people on hook is griefing then thats their flawed incorrect understanding that they should address.
Long time experienced players tend to not struggle. In fact, when i play killer the experienced players are the ones i don't target via chase but via altruism. They're the ones who stick their necks out for others, and they're the ones who stick around in endgame to try and get everyone out. The newer and less experienced/confident players are the ones who run and take zero risk.

Really? I've played one game on a launch day.
We played a chill 3 man swf with not experienced player, who comes to play with us sometimes.
That match went terribly - our not experienced player got tunneled out immidiately and the game was lost at this point.
It wasn't enjoyable at all and we booted different game, didn't come back since.
I have no interest in playing 3v1 and waiting 4 minutes for that in lobby
Oh that sucks. Yeah mine have been fine. I just played 4 more games and in one game I got slugged for the 4k (but hatch spawned in front of me lol), and that was pretty much my only complaint. But even that game was fine up until then.
-
I've only played survivor in CS so far and haven't had a single tunnelling killer. My games have actually been really chill, no one sweating. It's been nice.
-
I got one of my favourite synergies - Inner Strength and Overzealous - and the killer had two hex perks. So i enjoyed the gen speed boost. It's not always so bad.
-
I've only played survivor so far in CS and the killers have been fine. It's my brain-dead team mates leaving me on hook or 95% the exit gate and getting everyone killed
-
The bad builds are the fun of it for me tbh lol

so its more brittle or lower quality then other materials?
Yes, that's how i consider it. I do have a couple of pvc statues that my dad gifted me, and don't get me wrong they look nice but you can feel the difference. For someone who doesn't collect statues though perhaps it won't bother them. But i have seen people say they feel the Huntress/Sable statue is why the set is so expensive and I would disagree on that.
-
You weren't just a longtime contributor, you also always put a lot of time and thought into your posts. Lots of regulars are tired and jaded, but your posts always showed how much you still cared and how much hope you still had in the game. The system has cost us a good one, we're sorry to see you go!
-
Didn't say bad, just that I avoid them. It's a type of plastic and very lightweight. I prefer to spend the bit extra on better quality for my collection.
-
I got it too. I don't generally buy DBD merch, I think i just own a hoody and the youtooz figures, which isn't a lot for a game I've been playing for 5 years. I bought it for the flashlight though. I collect statues but this one is PVC, which i tend to avoid. So I'm a bit so-so on this one.
-
Check the bundles section of the Store every week, they'll eventually show up
-
We've probably all been reported at one time or another for cheating and we don't even realize it. You're only aware of this one because they outright told you. I imagine support just dismisses them. With the current prevalence of cheaters in the game I imagine alot of false reports are happening.
-
Agreed. I understand they probably don't want to subject people to involuntary glyphs, but in which case make an Optional Quests tab. That way folks can select when they do it.

Did you enjoy it only bc of the event offering (i played them a lot to collect the offerings) or did you also enjoy the gameplay changes?
Both. But a big part was of it was everyone coming together with their offerings and we all walk away with stacks of bp at the end of it. Just the icing on the cake. And then being able to still continue that once the event was over because we all had heaps of offerings to go around. It felt more like a community.
-
Chaos Shuffle. I also enjoyed the anniversary event but that was back when they were generous with the event offerings
-
It's a game. Most people play it in their spare time and have zero desire to be some god looper.
-
You can report them for the chat comments. BHVR have access to all that. Twitch, the devs obviously have no control over. Unfortunately, nasty comments come with putting yourself on a digital platform. The anonymity of the internet makes people feel brave enough to say things they'd never dare say to your face irl. Best option for in game is to keep endgame chat closed. And the online community is obviously free to complain, just as you're free to not read it.

It's basically turning into how Fortnite turned out Fortnite has Building and Sweatlords would build Mansions to protect themselves and you could never get a shot in cause of it.
So then NO build mode came out and over the years it grew bigger and bigger cause it was so casual and enjoyable it outshined the regular mode and has way more players.
And that's what 2v8 is becoming like no build it's growing to be way more fun and enjoyable for Survivors and Killers
I've never played Fortnite but I do watch my nephews play. I did wonder where all the fort building disappeared to.
Honestly, the 2v8 situation really shows how important swfs are to this game. The reason killer is so crazy popular in that mode is because you can actually play with a friend. 1v4 will never go away, because the devs rely on DLC sales and perks are a big factor in that. Not to mention not every license holder will be keen on sharing the stage with others. But I could see it eventually running as its own permanent mode.
-
I wonder if it's proving more popular than 1v4 nowadays so they're now wanting to make sure they get it right
-
Jamie Campbell Bower liked a post asking if he's providing voice lines for Vecna, so I'd say that's confirmation. The rest are getting lines, per the patch notes, but whether they're original or not remains to be seen. I'm 99% sure Dustin will have his OG actor's voice lines, because he's already a spokesperson for Nintendo so he seems to enjoy gaming.
-
I think all the perks are fine. Some are decent, some will barely get use. But overall they're fine.
-
Are the character bios up on the PTB? I wouldn't mind knowing the circumstances of how the entity contained El, if it's there and someone can share

Mhmm! You're right that we've done this in the past. In this case, though, given that we have a sub-section of the forum that's focused on PTB feedback, we didn't want to segment that PTB discussion between two places. If you've got any PTB feedback, don't hesitate to let us know over here :)
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/categories/9-4-0-ptb-feedbackI'm on console so can't play the PTB unfortunately. I'll just read what others have to say over there

clearly my stealth failed right at the start…primary mode failing i turn to secondary….loop
Bubba's red glow was on you so much, i don't think that was down to looping so much as him not knowing how to play very well. Everyone has had those sorts of games against mismatched opponents. I think people are curious about your stealth gameplay since you talk so much about it.

I know nothing of these 2 characters they clearly don't look alike but aren't they both suppose to represent the same DnD character?
Kinda feels like HillBilly and Leather Face. Both characters share a lot of similarities but are still clearly different.
The kids in the show are massive DnD fans, and when faced with these unknown eldritch creatures they just attach their own names to them. They learn later that Vecna's real name is Henry Creel, so it's possible the devs will use that in game as opposed to 'Vecna'
-
I'd wager most players play both sides, they simply have a preference. I think in general some people have one (or a few) bad games, get tilted, and feel the need to come online and rant about it. Play long enough and things start to bother you alot less.
-
Ah I see the classic DBD community SOP of getting worked up over things that haven’t even happened yet has started..

I hope they can make vecna really cool in dbd. I like him in stranger things but he was super underwhelming in season 5. If dbd can portray him in the way i wish season 5 did, i will appreciate bhvr so much.
I initially really didn't like the survivor choices but i am eager to see how it will be done anyways. The cover art is great and you can see there is a boon totem, i would be really excited for a new boon totem perk as i currently run circle of healing and illumination regularly.I didn't notice the boon. Since El is "the Mage" I guess it's one of her perks
-
Quests, mainly. Honestly, until i read your post I'd pretty much forgotten about the Archives. I've done most of them but definitely have some older ones to do

I HAVEN'T SEEN STRANGER THINGS SINCE S3 I HEARD THE ENDING WAS BAD caps
I think the story conclusion was great, I loved it. The season itself wasn't perfect of course. Dialogue was at its weakest imo and alot of overexplaining and dumbing things down to the audience (looking at some responses online though maybe it needed dumbing down afterall).
Need to remember that the internet is powered by bots and ragebait and negativity in this day and age. I've learned to watch and judge things myself before listening to noise.

Tbh in 2v8 not majority cares if they escaped or how many they killed but for fun and as killer you feel more like it because everyone just runs when two killer come.
But its truth that I met more salty people the last one that complained a lot for nothing like why killer chosed them from 3 survivors or because they died as fist etc. and bs insults like calling blight baby because he missed first 4 dashes wasnt uncommon to but in general its less of a competitive mode (mostly I felt it when duos on coms playing oni+ legion wasnt there) and more of chaotic fun for me atleast.
My post wasn't talking about 2v8 in general, just the gen speed mechanic implemented in recent iterations. If survivors are pulling too far ahead, then gen speeds slow down. If killer is pulling too far ahead, then gen repairs speed up. The topic is about the game essentially being over for survivors when one is sacrificed too quickly. The flipside is that some killers try to get a survivor out early because they feel they can't keep up with gen speeds. The aforementioned mechanic is probably the best compromise.
-
Got it first try with the tamborine perk. The gens threw skill checks at me with that one

I honestly think there are more cheaters on the killer side than people think, I don't actually think there are a lot on either side for the record. The do for sure exist and obviously matches against them will stick out, so they may appear more common in your memory. As with anything in this game you can get a bad night and get multiple which really sucks.
A subtle cheating killer would be much harder to pick up on than a subtle survivor. 1% faster would help at a lot of loops and over the course of a whole match while being virtually undetectable. Cheated aura reads would be virtually undetectable, were they cheating or did they just get lucky. The unsubtle cheating ones are just so obvious they really stick out.
I had a cheating Myers last week. He wasnt subtle about it though lol everyone dropped dead within 20s of the match starting
-
I had one yesterday who was trying to be subtle but I've played long enough to pick them. I ended up just ignoring them and focusing on the other three. Not gonna give them my time.
-
Judging by these comments, it seems the closest the devs could get to pleasing everyone would be to go the 2v8 route. Where gen speeds slow down or speed up depending on how the killer is progressing. If someone is taken out early, then it gives remaining survivors some hope and incentive to get going. Would hopefully help bring down DCs too. And if the survivors are getting gens done faster than the killer can keep up, then they slow down.
-
"you need survivors to have a reason to continue participating in the game"
That's the crux of it. But i do think, as you mention, it might be too late. I don't think the game is retaining new players at a high enough rate to enable any significant culture shift, which leaves alot of us old and jaded players. Alot of people don't take well to change and are set in their ways. Even if a change might help the health and longevity of this game we all enjoy, people would still stamp their feet and refuse to budge.

Happy new year everyone
