Ok, I could use your help then.
I just got cannibal and am trying to get him to 30 for BBQ and Chili.
I am playing a 4man SWF where they all know every single pallet location and looping location.
I am able to find 3 of them at a generator, I lunge hit 1, damage the generator, and begin chasing him. For about 1 minute he loops me around a jungle gym dropping pallets. His exhaustion is up, he uses sprint burst and makes it to another jungle gym with fresh pallets. What should I do from here? 3-4 generators left. This is typical game scenario.
reminder: the whole time I'm chasing him, his friends know it, and are slamming down generators / healing anyone injured

If you don't feel like you achieved anything by getting a 4k then maybe killer isn't for you. I'm with the other dude try survivor. As you play more you may enjoy killer more, but maybe since you're still new, killer isn't the best choice since you definitely will get bullied from time to time if you're new.
@Vexon You should try killer more. From reading your posts, you seem to be exclusively survivor.
Also you are assuming because I am a new player, I am a bad player. that is not true. I am rank 12 as killer. Your whole argument is faulty as you tie enjoyment directly to outcome (Win/loss) and assume I find it unenjoyable because you think I am trash. Enjoyment first comes from experience, not outcome.
And you act as if I've never played survivor, about 1/3 of my playtime is survivor.

I have seen that video, and it's pretty dated. A lot of issues do still remain in dead by daylight, I agree, but that video is definitely dated. Also if you really know tru3talent, he usually does get 4k's. He plays against the top survivor ranks, and the majority of the time he still wins. Of course there are some insane survivors out there, but none of which you have even come close to coming across if you've only been playing 3 weeks. You can beat those survivors. Mind games are a very large part of beating good survivors. Learn how to do it.
@Vexon You are confusing 4ks as 'having fun' and 0ks as 'not having fun'.
I have gotten many 4ks, were they fun? Some of them. Were they stressful and frustrating? Most of them.

It is fun if you know how to play killer properly. My advice to you is again, maybe watch some youtube videos or streams of good killers and see what they do in certain situations. You can learn a lot from them.
I have been. For hours on end. And they all say the same thing: Killer is frustrating and no longer fun.
A compilation of all the top killers in the game saying exactly those words is right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnwdPlx9yR4&t=440s
-
Every quality Killer I see says the same thing, especially truet4lent.
I suggest you watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnwdPlx9yR4&t=440s
That is a compilation of the top killers you recommend I watch, and all of them say killer is frustrating and stressful. @Vexon
-
"and you expect to be stomping everyone you come across?" @Vexon
No. I expect the experience to be fun, not frustrating. Fun is not a binary conditional of losing/wining.
" you just need to figure it out like every other quality killer did before they were good."

The biggest mechanic I don't like in the game is that survivors seem to have all the power. a 4man SWF with flashlights can completely wreck you.
You are supposed to be an invulnerable killer -- yet survivors run up to you with no fear.
-
The struggle mechanic is indeed trash. If any mechanic is needed, it should be a puzzle of some sort.
-
Hopefully soon, survivors control the game right now

@MystiKasT Crap. I forgot I also had an old Steam account with the same name. I need to figure out how to delete that.
The Kilmeran you're looking for actually has a custom avatar icon. If you can't find it, and if your Steam name is the same as your forum name, I can always just send you the request.
@Kilmeran I am trying to find your new one! no luck so far! I am indeed MystikasT

@MystiKasT Look, if money is that tight, which I can understand, I was there a long time ago in my youth, just friend me on Steam temporarily (same name). I'll gift you the DLC.
@Kilmeran Thank you so much for the offer! Nicest thing anyone has ever done for me online :D
I sent you an invite but it says you were last online 9 months ago, so I'm not sure if it is the right account.
-
Thank you for the info all! I am not paying $3.50 for a perk, simply isn't worth the money in my eyes. I will hope it goes to shrine eventually or maybe one day I'll have a job that pays decent money.

@MystiKasT Just Leatherface. No survivor.
Just as the Ash DLC that just dropped was Ash only, nothing else.
They're the only two that are that way. All other purchasable DLCs have both Killer and Survivor.
Thanks. Sadly its not half off, its almost $4 :(
And I heard cannibal sucks :(
May just wait for shrine.
Thank you for letting me know though!

@Kilmeran said:
@MystiKasT There is a sale going on right now.
Im looking now. Leatherface DLC doesnt come with a survivor? Only the cannibal?
-
@doitagain_ said:
Ruin was just in the shrine like 6 weeks ago. If you really want BBQ just buy Leatherface. All the DLCs occasionally go 50%off so buy him then for only $2.50.
thank you! $2.50 I can manage; hopefully they have a sale soon

@nunadventures said:
@MystiKasT it should work if you unlocked self care as a teachable so just buy it and it should give you 150,000 bp
so if you already have a teachable perk unlocked, and buy it in the shrine, you get 150k bp? thats a pretty low amount :(
Thanks a ton for info! I will save up to 9k to get hag for hex ruin if it'll never be in shrine
-
@PhantomMask20763 said:
Its pretty worthless aside from rebuying perks for the bp
Err, how do you rebuy a perk for BP? I'm confused on how that works.
Self-care, I have that. It is in the shrine. If I buy it, what happens?
-
@Poweas said:
BBQ has only ever came up once, just buy the DLC.
Ruin, just unlock Hag with shards or wait for it.
Just buy the DLC, you make it sound so simple... Sadly, the money for such an endeavor won't exist for about 2 - 3 months, atleast until the end of summer.

There should definitely be an option for the killer to leave the game when the survivors have opened the gates. When dedicated servers gets implemented, there should be no reason not to add this to the game.
I’ve experienced survivors trying to force a DC out of me many times. There was even a bug before where the survivor could glitch themselves outside of the map and just stand there indefinitely out of harms way (don’t know if this is fixed or not)
Feels really bad being forced to dc.
I would like to think so, but implementation would be hard. BE needs to not fear the ban stick.
Players that knowingly abuse the game to force others to DC should not be tolerated.

@Peanits said:
If you know about about how the maps are built, the average tile is 16 meters across (though a few are larger). Using that, you'll know that as soon as whispers (tier 3) activates, somebody is exactly two tiles away.
Thank you for the reply. That seems like a simple calculation, but what is a 'tile'? How do I know when a tile begins/ends?

There is no ingame way of recording or saving a replay of the match.
Ok! Thank You! Im not sure I want to record each match incase it happens, but I don't like it happening. Maybe Ill find a middle ground. Stay safe or kill quickly!
-
@NoShinyPony said:
Taking the game hostage is a bannable offense. You'd have to record the match and report the player. If the player is hiding for 90 minutes just to troll you, the case should be clear.
Depending on the amount of time, other cases are probably in a grey area and the devs will make an individual decision for each case.
Aside from a 3rd party service like OBS, is there anyway in game to save replays?
-
@Jigmac said:
If they refuse to leave the match after the final gen gets fixed (aka gates open and all) then thats straight holding you hostage and thats a bannable offense.
Thanks for the info. I understand crows come and you get a notification if someone is AFK too long, but these guys would just switch a locker or in/out if they didnt hear my terror radius every X minutes. so big issue.
edit: usually, the don't get gens or gate. they just sit in locker doing nothing. I had one guy sit in locker for close to an hour with 3 gens left. He was only one left. before I had whispers.
-
@Delfador said:
You don't need KYF. It is easy to understand terror radius if you understand movement speed.
Survivors run at 4m/s. 32 meters takes 8 seconds for a survivor. Just get a chronometer and run in a straight line from a tree to anywhere, it will give you the true distance.
Awesome, the 4m/s thing did the trick. Thanks a ton!
-
Thank you all for your advice!
I do not have any friends, so if anyone would be willing to practice the 32m range gauge with me I'd greatly appreciate it! I'll happily help you with nurse blinks or whatever you need in the future!
-
@ABannedCat said:
Most killers have a terrorradius/heartbeat of exactly 32 metres. So if you play survivor from time to time, you should get a feeling of it.
I do, but Im almost always watching for skill checks, so I don't see them, just hear it.
Sadly I have no feeling of it yet.
thank you so much for all your help so far

Just look up a 10 meter circle. The perk uses a radius.
No luck.

anyone have any visual scale for meters? I ahve no idea what 10meters look like in game

thank you I will watch it now

Nah, dude. They're ragequitting on you.
If so, that is pretty messed up. I am losing a ton of points on it. I even had one game where all 3 DC'd once they were downed (2-3 minutes apart, all hit traps w/ stone) and the 4th just jumped in hatch right away. I almost lost a pip because of how few points I got.
Why is BE tolerating this behavior, if this is indeed the case?
-
@se05239 said:
If you down them and they DC before you can get them on a hook, it's just a entitled survivor doing their thing.
There's a DC epidemic going on and the developers are too afraid to do anything about it since its basically only survivors doing it.
It is exclusively when they are downed / about to be hooked. They haven't DC'd any other time, which makes me think its tied to the downing/hook animation.

You can power through it but unless survivors are hitting every great skill check (unlikely if they aren't super experienced) then it's still slowing things down. And on trapper you need all the time you can buy
You are right. I hope ruin or BBQ & CHili show up in shrine soon.

I would advise against getting used to relying on crutch perks like NOED and Ruin.
What do you suggest instead of NOED?

Honestly, run RUIN.
I don't have that killer and it isnt in shrine unfortunately :(

@MystiKasT these numbers might not sound like much but microseconds count in this game. You’ll feel less anxious about kicking gens and breaking pallets with BS as the survivors trying to get away won’t have made much ground.
BS is a good perk
What do you think of sloppy butcher, nurser's calling, no one escapes death, and brutal strength/other?
I can't decide I want brutal strength as my 4th or not.
Can you please help? This is for trapper. I do get looped into pallets a bit, but would thanatophobia be better since I plan to keep them wounded?
edit: I just got the game so no DLC chars and shrine of secrets has had trash this and past cycle.
-
@xility said:
Brutal strength is worth it, but depends on how you play. I personally believe that any killer except for huntress and plague highly benefit from it; as they do not really need it due to their power.
I am playing as trapper. I just got the game. Debating going Sloppy Butcher + Nurse's Calling + Brutal Strength + No one escapes death.
Any input?
And does anyone know the actual time?
