3–4 days is what they had to make changes.
-
I'm waiting for the post saying Pharmacy needs to be nerfed.
-
I don't think the issue lies with the staff put to task on working these things. More often than not, they're spearheaded by unknown and unseen superiors who push for changes despite internal and external feedback. I won't say this is exactly the case with BHVR, but it's similar to how it happens with other developers of live service games.
-
They have plans to add more features and gameplay elements, but they have yet to say what those are. Whether they'll be worth the outrage this new UI has generated has yet to be determined.
-
The old UI isn't a solution, especially at the loss of hook counters. The current one can be made to work with a few adjustments to position, font readability, and scaling.
The ability to adjust placement of elements would be helpful in providing individuals a layout they can find comfortable. If not that, placing the Survivor HUD elements further down closer to the items and add-ons may also help with keeping information close together while maintaining a sense of space as to not feel clustered.
Greater contrast in the coloration of Survivor nametags and portraits can add to readability at a glance. Individual element scaling can also help along with the positioning mentioned above.
I don't presume that any of this would be easy to implement, but I would say these offer a basis to the staff maintaining their new HUD while increasing accessibility.
-
Textures for models and lighting seem to be the same as before. The only difference is the UI scaling (finally).

It isn't very hard. But there is little to no reason for me to have to.
Since you seem to be deliberately ignoring my primary argument, allow me to make it more visible, as, judging by the nature of my argument and your sheer inability to respond to the actual point, you seem to be unable to see.
THERE ARE VERY FEW OTHER GAMES, INCLUDING IN THIS GENRE (4V1 HORROR), THAT BROADCAST THE LOCATION OF THE POWER ROLE TO THE TEAM. THE REASON IS SIMPLE: THEY DO NOT NEED IT.
IN THE EVENT THAT THE POWER ROLE UTILIZES STEALTH, THE TEAM SHOULD HAVE TO LOOK AROUND FOR THEM, AS OPPOSED TO HEAVILY RELYING ON OBVIOUS, BLATANT AUDIO AND VISUAL CUES THAT HAVE LITTLE TO NO REASON TO BE IN THE GAME.
FURTHERMORE, IF THE POWER ROLE IS SACRIFICING THE ABILITIES THAT COULD BE AVAILABLE TO THEM IF THEY CHOSE A DIFFERENT ABILITY, THUS CREATING AN OPPORTUNITY COST, THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE THAT ABILITY, WITH THE CAVEATS THAT ARE ENTAILED WITH CHOOSING SUCH AN ABILITY.
IF THE POWER ROLE HAS AN ABILITY THAT CAN BE CHEAPLY AND EASILY COUNTERED BY AN OPTIONAL ABILITY ON THE TEAM, ESPECIALLY ONE THAT GIVES OTHER BENEFITS, THEN BALANCE IS IMPOSSIBLE BY NATURE. IT IS SHEER INSANITY TO THINK THAT IT IS FINE TO CRIPPLE THE BENEFITS OF AN ABILITY THATS SOLE PURPOSE IS TO REMOVE AN UNUSUALLY STRONG ADVANTAGE WHILE KEEPING THE DISADVANTEGES OF SAID ABILITY, AND IN THIS FORM, IT SHOWS EXTREME FAVORITISM TOWARDS THE TEAM ROLE.
Also, Ruin+Undying exists because the Survivors have a much easier, faster, and simpler task to complete. Giving them an additional task, forcing them to focus on their task, or slowing down the current task, even when combined, is not entirely unreasonable.
The fact that you made such a comparison shows just how little you understood my argument. You essentially have an extremely powerful variant of Whispers in your basekit, along with the ability to see where the killer is looking.
I honestly don't think that the Red Stain and Terror Radius should exist. The fact that you think that you are entitled to them, or other abilities that give such a strong advantage, is a result of how poorly designed game this is. This was meant to be a horror game, if you remember.

Nancy and Steve look great.
Demo just got out of the Jar.
-
This is the major issue of the new patch. Take your leave of all the nerfs/buffs, ugly UI, weird animations, but broken hitboxes just make the game feel cheap. Hoping for a quick hotfix.
-
They're alright. They make me think of the animations in REmake 2 (albeit more stiff).

It's so nice
Although now funny enough, I've gotten so used to the small skill check circle and nailing Greats on there that I'm having trouble re-adjusting back to the "normal" sized skill check :D
I'm sure I'll get it back within a week or so but it's funny how much the tiny skill check circles sucked until I got used to it and now I have to do it again
I'm ready to install brand new parts again

I'm not a fan of neither the current HUD nor the new one. Both lack something that the other makes up for, and both have pretty questionable placements. A fully customizable HUD would be much more preferred.
-
Daddy Kazan
-
At this point I've accepted it, but I still want to know what these new features will be that they changed the HUD for.
-
I more than love it if DbD dipped its toes into the bizarre and weird. Not necessarily "serious" or "funny", but stuff that makes you go "What the".
-
A Feng player teabagged me across a dropped pallet. I was playing Pyramid Head and she just kept teabagging while I used my ranged attack on her.
-
It's been fluctuating for me. In the middle of the day, I've been grouped rank 20s who are very clearly just getting into the game. Lucky if we can get three gens done before we're all killed.
But at night is when the 1–9 ranked players show up and we escape more often than not. It's weird.
-
As much as I would love VA in this game (á la Resident Evil Resistance or Left 4 Dead), I've accepted that it's not something BHVR should put effort into yet. There's so much more in this game that needs fixing before they can add flavor with voice-acting.
-
The Killer isn't do anything detrimental. They're just taking advantage of the Survivors' oversight. Next time you play, just make sure you scatter your gens.
-
Been playing and loving Oni/Daddy Kazan. The temptation to slug is strong, but I must resist....
-
It's okay, you can say "Quentin's perks"
-
The answer is simple: DbD Survivors will get hand grenades and firearms when Mr. X or Nemesis arrive. Easy-peasy! :D
-
Spine Chill only tells you if the killer is looking in your direction, not what direction the killer is in.
-
Jeff would be the hairiest mofo and Quentin wouldn't have a strand on him since he's a swimmer.
-
DbD being given to another developer wouldn't be a fix to the game's issues. It would change the game, for better or for worse, but it's not a solution to the current problems. I think what would be more beneficial and realistic in line with this line of thought would be if BHVR enlisted the help of other developers with a longer knowledge base in this kind of game.

If I loop the killer for over a minute and see all my teammates crouching behind rocks, I'm sorry but I want out of that match asap
The David in my last match didn't even give them time. The second I hooked him, he used all his attempts and didn't struggle. I barely got to chase him too.
-
Spine Chill is a perk used by lower rank Survivors (or solo queuers) to give a small leg up. Hardly broken and rarely seen in high ranks.

IMO It needs to be changed so it also repairs the gen by like 15-20% over that 30 seconds, as atm its just such an incredibly niche/dumb perk that also has massive prerequisites to even use.
This would add a lot of utility to the perk, but to balance it out, I'd have it so that the perk can't finish the gen. It can only go up to 99% completion.

I remember one of the devs saying somewhere that part of the reason for the new HUD was so they could implement further enhancements that the current HUD won't let them do. Nothing more specific than that, from what I remember, though.
That's what I've been hearing for the change as well. Be nice if BHVR would tell us what those new implementations are instead of leading us around.
-
Sure!
-
I'm ready for the UI scaling. Hopefully it'll make the interface readable on Series X.
-
They should have done that with Jeff's perks. He draws art for metal albums, yet he gets no song references. Breakdown and Distortion are musical techniques often used in metal, but I wouldn't count those as references.

This is a nice idea, but I believe just removing perk tiers would be enough.
Halfway between that, once you reach a new tier with a perk for one character, all other characters will have it at that tier. That way, all characters can have perks for builds without grinding numerous times in RNG for that perk at a higher tier.
-
A customizable UX and scaling would be amazing. Playing Series X, I'm tired of squinting my eyes to see basic elements of the HUD. High contrast settings would sweeten the pot too.

I would love for killers and survivors to have voice lines. Though they need to be rare, so that they don't get annoying.
Unrelated, but Resident Evil Resistance has a great sound track. I listen to Birkin and Mr. X's themes all the time. It sucks that the sound track is pretty much the only good thing about Resistance.
The music for when it's time to escape is so tense, and I wish DbD had more music like that
-
Jeff, and if you think otherwise, you're lying to yourself.
-
If the only objective for survivors is still to fix generators, a match lasting more than 15 minutes would be torture. A 20-40 minute long mode with multiple objectives and/or a dynamic map to play on would be fine, but as is, a match beyond 20 minutes is just a battle of attrition.
-
The last time I had seen a killer use a Mori in my experience this year was back in spring. It caught me by surprise seeing the amount of posts that sprung up in outrage over the change.
-
People really are overcomplicating this. The easiest and barest way would be to add a few lines in characters' backstories about having a same-gender partner (e.g., "the time Jeff traveled with an ex-boyfriend", "Élodie's girlfriend at the time"). The game hardly has a strict narrative as is, so there's lots of wiggle room to fit something like that in.
It's not a matter of difficulty or "not making it their whole personality". It's about giving a toss to do it in the first place.
And for those who keep saying "Well, why does it matter if there's hardly any story?" Because representation is nice to have, you dingbats.
-
At this point, it's looking as though BHVR is non-commital to the idea and only said what they did about representation to appear more inclusive. Literally all they have to do is say that a character had a same-gender partner in the lore or give characters appropriate pride flag cosmetics. Hardly the most difficult thing to do, especially with how many new cosmetics they whip out each update.
-
I remember this same UI shrinkage happened when 4.2.0 launched on One X. I'm on Series X now, and it looks like the same issue as before.
