Except we’ve never actually seen proof of this “mass exodus”:besides anecdotal videos and posts saying it happened. I am not saying people haven’t left because of the perks either, but I think people vastly overestimate that number.
I was talking about queue times. People remember the +15min survivor queue time.
But despite all of that, you know that ? The game was somehow more fun. DH was broken but Ruin was good, PGTW was good, NOED was good, less aura reading for killers so you had to rely on game knowledge or BBQ (that was also played for bonus points !) promoting splitting hooks so less tunneling.
There was no base kit BT and hook grabs were allowed punishing survivors for stupid plays but at the same time it made real BT good and promoted team play.
Overall there was more mistakes to be made for all sides, but also more good plays. Now the game is autopilot.I won’t even start talking about SBMM, just read documentation about it, why it is used for player retention and how it removes all the fun.

The only way BHVR will care is if survivors start quitting en masse and killer queues go up to 10 minutes. They've made it very clear they want the game to be ez mode for killers.
It has never happened in the history of DBD. But the opposite has already happenend many times during the dead hard and circle of healing meta.

So I get the feeling you aren’t very business savvy, and may not understand consumerism or why BHVR, the business, has made certain decisions. But there is a financial impetus behind them. They might say things were done to alleviate concerns but that’s PR, hon. BHVR is a business and does what is in the best interest of maintaining profit. Allow me to explain with an example.
Base kit BT only exists because of outcry from survivors who were complaining about an inability to play the game. BHVR made basekit BT a thing after so many years because tunneling had started to affect player retention and they saw that in their numbers/profit margins. Anything survivors receive is because people who play that role produce more revenue for BHVR (in the way of cosmetics) than people who play the killer role & BHVR, the business, knows it has to court its primary consumers. Think about it this way: if people started avoiding the survivor role, what do you think BHVR would do? If your answer is ‘try to make the role more attractive’ you’re correct.
This is unrelated to your point but I suspect as their numbers continue to drop (which they are on Steam at least), there will eventually be a shift toward a more survivor-focused gameplay experience. They’ll hide it being ‘QoL’ or some other PR-based excuse, but it’s going to happen sooner or later.
I agree with you 100% on that. I am not naive, it’s easy to see that they prioritize revenue with what they do with fomo skins and meta perks hidden behind massive grind and paid content.
Unfortunately, outside of giving my opinion, I don’t see what I can do about it (because I still buy their content at the end of the day).

1.) I don’t think gen regression perks should be removed from the game.
2.) Your argument fails because survivors aren’t escaping as often as killers are sacrificing them now. There is *currently* an imbalance with gen regression perks present, but return to point 1.
3.) We needn’t rely on hypotheticals here because we have real data that shows an imbalance to exist under current circumstances, which is where we should have our attention not a hypothetical, far flung future that may never come to exist; return to point 2.
1) is not an argument so there is nothing for me to answer.
2) It’s intended by the devs. Inform yourself ?
3) Again, devs are happy with the data. Same data also shows that soloQ and SWF have a very close escape rate.
But that’s not the point of this thread ? My point is to make killer perks more fun and less meta dependent, the same way they made BT basekit. Except, in my case, I would have removed BT and rework it for a fun perk.

so basicly you want more of what you deem fun and you actually dont care one bit about what others may find fun and want everything gone that does not bring you joy? thats a little tiny bit selfish dont you think
Explain how regression is fun. I am a killer main btw.
It makes winning easier for sure but winning is pleasant not fun.
It makes the match last longer but with the queue times I don’t need it, I can find another one instantly.
So yes, explain to me how making gens longer to be repaired fun for the killer or survivor ?
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
To understand it right, you basically want to put Gen Regression-Perks to Basekit (by "balancing" Gens to a point where no Gen Regression is needed anymore) and then STLL want Debuffs (like Mangled)?
I mean, why should Killers get their most powerful Perks as Basekit?
In general, Gen Regression-Perks itself are no issue. However, stacking them is the issue.
I did not ask for gens perks to become basekit. There may be other ways to remove them without throwing the game out the balance (gen repair time, number of gold pallets, map size ect..).
I just want them gone. I don’t feel like they are fun to play with or against. Chase, info and debuffs perks are fun. You may not like them but imho Crowd Control, Plaything, Devour, Spies, Nemesis/Rancor are all way more fun to play as or against than any slowdown. It’s just my opinion tho.
The problem is that if you start to care about winning too much, you stick to reliable perks with guaranteed value = slowdowns. So the meta is boring.

Some of us have jobs or other priorities and can’t play all the time.

40% is very bad considering all the killer that give up, give hatch, let survivor escape, want to farm, disconnect and to top it all off, the fact that we have hatchescapes that are just based on luck and have nothing to do if killer are powerful or not.
Since killing is easy, its a very boring game.
I play both sides I very rarely see killers give up, even when they are in a bad state (no hooks, lot of gens done).
Same with farming, maybe in low MMR it happens ? I don’t see it anymore.
If you want to go back to the old meta with god survivors I am all for it, but don’t complain about the 15min survivor queue time during the evening for a 5min game. Considering you need only 1 killer for 4 survivors, that much queue time showed how bad the state of the game was.
-
I garante you people would still play sweaty in the "casual" mode. Just see OW2 for exemple.

What's often forgotten is that this is a video game and not a movie. At its core the game needs to be balanced because that's what makes a video game find success and if you want the "true" experience then there either needs to be a dbd movie or a until dawn type game to truly set that boundary lorewise. Other than that it's still a game and a game needs balance.
Balancing at all cost is also killing the fun. Try balancing Nurse power to Trapper without ruining both characters. You can’t.

What a sad sorry version of a once great game we are in now. Survivors are supposed to be happy to even escape 40%.
Lets all unite that it wont fall lower then 30%!
40% is very good considering all the suicides on hooks and throwers.
If escaping was easy it would be a very boring game.

@Mooks said:
They are definitely considering this as a time limited event mode like the upcomig Lights Out.
though the maps aren’t big enough and would need adjustments here and the game already had problems running with the two Nemesis zombies as is. Imagine 10 players and possibly 4 zombie bots 💀
When and where did they consider this ?
-
@apathyinc said:
No, some people live their life by cheating, trolling, and making the game miserable for other players. Sometimes this causes DCing to be the best option against them. Make them continue to play their games out against bots so real players don't have to deal with that horseshit.
Cheaters can leave the game instantly by teleporting behind the doors and winning or killing bots survivor extremely quickly.
-
@KateMain86 said:
Yep. Pretty much what the OP said. The game needs to be remade from the ground up. I feel like killers are being designed and reworked to deal with SWF rather than be balanced around solo and casual players. Pallets have become mostly worthless considering how many killers can hit you over them or vault over them. The survivor experience is largely RNG given how we can't even see the perks of our team let alone anything from the killer. So many perks should have long been built into the basekit of survivors by now. Healing takes way too long even with perks and items. The amount of time it takes for survivors to recover from a hook situation takes too long. The biggest problem I think is how limited in movement survivors are. There really is no dodging in this game. Its just run until you die in most situations. We don't need more perks or items. We need DBD 2 with an entirely new experience.
Sure Sadako has been nerfed to the ground to deal with SWF.
-
I chase the other 3 without killing them. At the end, when it’s clear I won I let them repair all gens and escape.
The reason is that I don’t want to increase my MMR because someone suicide.
-
What you are asking doesn’t exist. You can’t play for 12 hooks against god survivors and win.

Which team was that?
The singularity match.
-
I watched this tournament and it was hilarious how nobody could defined what was tunneling.
There was a killer who got injures and downs too fast and was accused of not letting the survivors unhook each others (which was against the rules). He was penalized for being too efficient.
Also at 1 gen left the anti tunneling / slugging / camping rule was removed and you could do whatever, proving once again that even in a pro-nice anti tunneling tournament, you can’t balanced around 12 hooks.
-
@Pulsar said:
I don't really want to lose a hundred games in a row to learn Billy.
I haven't gone back to learn any of the old Killers I didn't play because of MMR and the lack of a decent learning environment.
It really sucks because Billy seems fun but I literally can't learn ######### in 5 minute matches.
Just seems like BHVR's matchmaker encourages you to never diversify your character roster.

I never expect the game to be balanced around 12 hooks, because its stupid. How many kill do you make with 12 hooks? Its 4 kills. Do you mean the game should be balanced around 4 kills (12 hooks)? You know you can make 12 hooks while giving the first 3 hooks to a single survivor?
Give killers a guarantee 4 kills so they dont tunnel is pretty much I see about tunneling arguments.
I also dont think tunneling and slugging are problems. But everything has it's gray zones with extreme case, hard tunneling at 5 Gens or bleeding to death are, for examples.
Yes I believe the killer should aim for the 4k and I honestly think the vaste majority of players believe the killer do not win until they get at least 3k.
2k is considered a draw at best or a loss for killer at worst.
Most people play to win. Personally I don’t care about "winning" I am mostly playing meme builds with no regression now (my sweaty nurse era is long gone) but I can see the survivors tbagging and celebrating "dog" "ez ez ez" "trash killer" all the time when I don’t 4k.

So NOED is problematic perk too because it's rewarding killer for losing gens. Also NWO is problematic perk because hooking survivors is your objective. Why game is rewarding you for doing your objective.
I am fine if they nuke NWO, NOED and Adrenaline together.
I am sorry but I have not seen noed played in ages, are you saying this perk is good ? The totem is highlighted in yellow now, it is very easy to counter.
I disagree with NWO : it only gives good value with you spread hooks which is not your objective. Also even if the killer manages to get 3-4 tokens, all you have to do is hide… you have agency.

Deadlock gives value no matter what the killer does. What's your take on that?
Yes Deadlock is closer to be problematic, but not totally. You still have scenarios where deadlock block a gen close to 0% repairs. Also the gen being blocked doesn’t mean the survivor can’t find value elsewhere : healing, booning, saving, ect…
But yes I agree, most of the time, this perk gives free value and have little counter.
@C3Tooth said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3638858#Comment_3638858
I heard killers tell survivors to use perks to counter something that killers dont even need perk to do.
Like just use OTR and DS when survivors complain about tunneling. Unbreakable when survivors complain about slugging....is it bad design?
You hear and probably see a lot of things girl, I am worried about you. Take care.
Personally I don’t think tunneling or slugging is a problem. Do you really expect the game to be balanced around 12 hooks ? Also the huge majority of people who slug do it because hooking gives them less value in this situation : twins (Charlotte being too far), singularity (pod being destroyed on hook), ect…
-
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:
Why Adrenaline is here?
This perk is only works at end game and only for once.
And you need to finish gens or you need to stay alive as last survivor.
This perk does not need any nerf. Only change it needs is that: It should not make you wake up against Freddy.
Seriously why this perk is here?
Are we going to nerf NOED, NWO, Blood Warden next?
Blood Warden is trash.
Finishing gens is normal gameplay, this perk gives free passive value without doing anything special.
Also if you need a perk to counter it then it’s bad design.

Just got a P100 Billy that tunneled me straight off of hook twice.
Won at 3 gens, love it.
Skill issue I guess.
-
Your agency is to queue with friends. If you queue with randoms, expect random results.
-
I don’t play enough to say I have a main anymore.
-
There is no comparaison with eruption that’s absurd.
Eruption could be applied an infinite number of time.
DMS is only after a hook. Also blocking a gen is nowhere as strong as incapacitated status.
-
The closest thing would be refusing to be playing the game and asking to die but in this case I make sure they stay with me until the end, complete the 5 gens and die to my rancor.
-
So your definition of balance is when the killer is easy to beat. Alright.

To brag about it...
- Wait until you are high MMR
- Wait until you play against good players
- Looks like you never play at high MMR
The most funny part is all of them dont know where their MMR are.
At some point when you have over 100+ winstreak on your main account you know you are.

If you would actually read, you would see I only do that if they bring themselves into second stage for being greedy. So if you remove a Hook Stage for the chance of 1500 BPs... Well, lets say, play dumb games and win dumb prizes.
That’s what I said, you are indeed throwing. There are 2 others survivors who did nothing to deserve this.
Also even if someone make a mistake that’s not a reason to throw.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Because they want the BP and think it is risk-free, because they will be unhooked anyway.
If they unhook in front of me, I will not heal them and I will also not go for an Unhook on their second stage. And if they bring themselves into second stage with this, I will not unhook them at all, because they were that stupid. (Being so greedy that you lose a Hook Stage for those 1500 points is just...eh.)
Sometimes I also think they should just be left on the hook for trying, but the problem is, you shoot yourself in the foot with doing that.
Lmao you are literally throwing because some poor girl tried to unhook herself for BP.
Now I understand why kill rates are boosted.

I'm not saying it is, I'm saying spreading your pressure is a strong strategy.
People progress hook states all the time, especially if they're sacrificed in the endgame or you get a snowball. Going for 12 hook states is not the only alternative to tunnelling.
But, to be more precise... If everyone is alive, and by default (so not factoring in perks or powers yet), the best scenario you can be in is the following: One survivor on the hook, one survivor in chase, one survivor peeling off to get the save. If you're good in chase and you have good macro strategy, you can pretty reliably keep this going just by default; add in time spent healing, or any perks + powers they might have to deal with (IE, finding + cleansing Devour Hope or running between Jigsaw Boxes), and your basekit pressure is pretty considerable.
Tunnelling is, when it works, easier. It's not at all required.
OK then let’s say 10 hooks because the last 2 survivors may be sacrificed with hooks stage remaing, but not less because you would be somehow tunneling depending of definitions.
Also, if by snowball you mean slugging know that it is considered a very unfun, toxic and unfair strategy by a lot of survivors.
So now, explain to me how a Pig player can win going for at least 10 hooks versus a SWF with solid looping / gens repair skills.
Also, that Pig player is unfortunately short on money IRL and kinda new to the game so she doesn’t own any DLC (no pop, pain res, deadlock, corrupt…), only being able to use free perks.
Thanks.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3633060#Comment_3633060
The counterplay is to not tunnel.
You don't need to tunnel to win, spreading pressure is already comparably strong. Tunnelling is just easier.
Explain to me in details how going for 12 hooks is a « strong » strategy ?
-
It’s funny because nobody talks about counterplay. You all want this perk back in the meta by buffing it to narnia but you don’t think for a second about how the killer could avoid it while getting value.
Because right now, going for 12 hooks doesn’t give you any value. At least back in the day you had BBQ for the extra BP but that’s gone.

I promise you it's probably not subtle cheaters.
And even if they are, who cares? There's nothing you can do about it, so there's no use getting worked up over it.
« Cheating ? Who cares ? Stop complaining, it’s annoying. By the way, you said it was subtle cheating but you can’t tell for sure ? So you are just a lying, you got outplayed by better survivors. »
It’s not like DBD has a massive cheating problem. "Just ignore the problem" is probably the worst advice to give. When I see a survivor faster than the others without reasons, I assume this person is cheating or at least very sus, I don’t tell myself "Well this person is obviously zooming all the time but let’s assume it’s just a skill diff ».
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=alKUMzjiP04I mean, the Claude is just better right ?
-
I returned to DBD after ~8 months and bought him with the legendary skin.
He (she) is very fun to play, and all the survivors I go against say they had fun too. It’s probably because I use plaything, monitor and abuse and the addon that reduce the TR and people like this jump scare playstyle.
There are definitely loops that hard counter him. He also lacks mobility so it’s easy for survivors to gen rush on big maps so if you nerf his chase power he will become very bad. No mobility and no chase power is the best recipe for a terrible killer.
Tbh I don’t understand why you ask for feedback here, last time it happened it was a disaster for trickster. Listening to the forum is the worst strategy for player retention. See what happened with dead hard for years defending the broken perk "just bait it out" and people complaining about tunneling / proxy camping. Have a private discord and listen to good players that play both side. Like if you want to improve Singularity ask One Pump Willie for exemple.
