Using basic reading comprehension I was able to glean that not once did he ask about how to deal with SWF, simply that they weren't fun. And I agree, i have 4k'd sweaty swf because they get greedy and even then it doesnt feel good. Its like getting a mole removed, your glad its done but it shouldn't have been there in the first place so it was essentially just a bunch of extra stress just to return to normal.

Congrats on your basic reading comprehension skills!

Maybe you could use your basic logical thinking skills now, and understand that my point was that if he learns to deal with SWF, then he will not have to dodge them that often and actually may be able to beat them and have some fun. Cheers.

Pyramid Head is being nerfed so everyone is playing as him. Just went against 3 in a row.

Don't worry, guys, Daddyslinger still exists!

If you use the word "daddyslinger" ever again, you can expect a lobotomy in the near future.

  • I mean... getting beaten by a SWF is an opportunity to learn a thing or two - you can think about what mistakes you've made and how you can improve.

You won't learn anything new by stomping default megs in solo queues.

  • Agreed. It's sad that the game rewards killers like that for playing without any real skills.

  • I mean, it technically is a strategy. A brainless and skill-less one at that.

  • I mean, I'd see it as an advantage..

He was healed, so not only he wasted the DS he could use for later, he also was left injured after the stun. It would turn out much worse for you if he just spent the time working on a far away gen instead.

  • Blendette? Looping well?

    Are you alright?

  • Yeah, I prefer running one reliable perk, rather than running two bad perks that don't guarantee anything along with a purple offering. Sorry.

  • I think you overrate Oni. He's just a big angry guy with a stick. Laurie would use her smarts to beat him.

Freddy would be the one to kill her imo.

Because is fun? The only thing I don't understand is why Jake and myers together is so popular, usually there's a reason

If that's your idea of fun, then I'm very sorry. Really.

  • Here's a better question:

Why do people ship fictional video game/movie characters?

  • I'm not compeletly sure, but I think MMR is being calculated in the background, but isn't active at the moment. Once they have enough data, they will activate it once more.

    Not 100% sure though.

Aw come on, I was just joking around

For real. you should post this to the bug section, i think. I mean, it's not really a bug but you get the point.

Okay then, I agree, Perks shouldn't have downsides, so lets remove all of the downsides from the killer perks that have them as well just to be fair.

I fully agree to that as well. Dying light comes to mind, for example...

  • @TWiXT said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1643473#Comment_1643473

We're talking about a perk that removes 1 penalty from failing skillchecks (alerting the killer), is it so wrong to think that adding another penalty to compensate seems only fair?

I mean, isn't that the point of a perk? lol. There are only 4 perk slots, so the perks should have no downsides.

Iron will removes the "sound making while injured" penalty compelety. Without any downsides. And guess what? It's a thousand times more valuable than technician will ever be, even if it had no downsides.

And yes, technician would counter skillcheck killer builds. Is that wrong, though? You have perks like spine chill, which counter stealth killers, you have plague who counters ALL healing perks, or you have doctor who counters more stealthy builds. It's all part of the game.

  • Ace. Nuff' said

  • @TWiXT said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1643046#Comment_1643046

And I suppose you also believe Dead Hard shouldn't exhaust survivors, DS should be permanently active until used after being unhooked, or all the Totems should be removed from the game and all hex perks shouldn't have survivor controlled counters? Perks need downsides for the sake of balance, and technician is now going to be stupidly strong since it allows survivors to ######### up without ever alerting the killer. If they didn't add a penalty that increases the time it takes to repair a failed skillcheck, then it would be OP. Hell, Unless the penalty doubles the current skillcheck failure penalty, it'll be OP anyway.

Do you even understand what a downside is?

Being exhausted does not punish you in any way - it is a cooldown mechanic, you don't lose anything after you use your exhaustion perk.

DS having a timer is not a downside. You don't lose anything by running the perk.

And now technician - it has an unnecessary downside - you risk losing more progress on a gen just because you run a perk. Do you get it?

  • @TWiXT said:

I disagree. Technician just received a Massive buff in that it always prevents gens from exploding because of a missed skillcheck. This screws over Killer Builds that mess with skillchecks by employing perks Overcharge, and Unnerving Presence, but more than that it also prevents the killers from knowing which gen a survivor is screwing up. If they didn't add in an extra penalty to progress for screwing up a skillcheck, lets face it, everyone, new and veteran, would abuse the hell out of Technician because you no longer have to fear alerting the killer via failed skillchecks. I'm only hoping that the penalty it adds is 10% more, because if its anything less than that's no skin off anyone's teeth, and they can feel free to fail away without ever alerting the killer.

Are you serious? Why should a perk have downsides?

  • What would be the reason to equip BT, then?

  • If you know that there's a survivor near by, then it's fully ok. If you can't find anyone, though, you should go and patrol gens and chase other survivors

  • If you know what to expect every game, then it's not going to be scary.

The only "scary" killers are Ghostface if you don't see him coming, and hag if you don't know who the killer is and step on her trap.

Other than that? I guess they could darken the maps and add more scary ambient music or sound effects.

You need to learn how to read statistics and take proper inferences from them. Or perhaps you are reading them correctly and purposely trying to skew them to support an unsustainable point. But let me correct you on a few things:

    1. Myers is not a BAD Killer; he is a HARD Killer. That is to say he has very little margin for error. Bad Players will find him unworkable as they advance through the Ranks. He has, however, an excellent toolbox and if applied correctly can stand up perfectly fine.
    2. Statistics are only as good as when they were last taken. The SWF is a "snowballing" problem. More and more people are choosing to play as a SWF. The longer a group of people play as a SWF the more pronounced the disparity becomes. In other words, the statistics you are quoting applies to the so-called casual, fun SWF who get a baseline advantage but don't press it. The competitive SWF (and there are more and more of them every day) leave those statistics in the dust. The problem is known, and growing.
    3. Your own desperation to defend and try to normalize something outside the game reveals your bias and NEED. In other words, unlike myself (who chose a Killer rated as HARD) and dove into the toughest matches I could to get better, you seem to want to endorse the easy way out. Do you see my point?
    1. Ha ha, that's a good one. "Official " killer ratings mean nothing in the game. Trapper is listed as "easy". Do I need to explain? Myers has a very low skillcap and no, his "toolbox" is not complicated. Myers is just plain bad and needs a buff. You want a hard killer with a high skill cap? Play nurse, huntress or hillbilly.
    2. Are you blaming people for wanting to play with friends? Especially when the solo queue experience is horrendous? Anyway, if you don't like 4 man SWFs, you can always dodge them by checking their profiles. Easy enough. Don't see the issue.
    3. God forbid I too want to play with my friends sometimes. I play both sides, and I try to have fun playing as both of them. I'm not biased at all. And I hate to break it to you, no. Myers is not a hard killer. One of the easier ones to play, in fact. There are no advanced tactics to him, which is why he is so bad. He's just a basic M1 killer with a low skillcap.
  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1637994#Comment_1637994

Uh huh is right, as I'm taking it literally and not sarcastically as you intended. I hit Rank-4 after a hard fight from 20 playing nothing but Myers. From Green Ranks on I fought nothing but Purple and Red (mostly Red) Rank Survivors and MOST of my games are against SWF that are playing hard to win, and there is very little fun in it. Perhaps your stats apply to games for the lower Ranks, but not from where I'm sitting. :)

I see 3-Person SWF and a poor Red Shirt stuck in with them most often, followed by 4-Person SWF next, and 2-Person and Solo very rarely. I also get more Salt and obnoxious behavior from SWF, up to and including hacks. I record every game and I'm planning on a compilation upload in the near future of these "casual, fun-seeking SWF types."

Then the issue is not SWF, because like I said - only a 10% survival rate gap between 4 man and solos - but the fact that you're playing a bad killer. Myers is outdated and not very good. Bottom tier, if you ask me. The solution is to buff the weaker killers, not to nerf SWFs/survivors.

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1637893#Comment_1637893

No, I'm saying that SWF utilize a Perk entirely outside the game, i.e. Comms. I utilize whatever tools I can to play the game against them. Camping, Tunneling, Slugging, and the Mori are NOT "scummy" tactics. They are just tools Killers use when appropriate. Against a SWF, they are necessary. And no, the 50/50 win rate is what the DEV shoot for as an OVERALL statistic to understand the game is balanced. They do not expect every game for every player to go 50/50.

I've never calculated my Kill rate. I know against a SWF if I don't fight hard and bring everything I have to the table I will probably get zero kills or perhaps one. That is how effective the 5th Perk, Comms is when applied by a SWF. Don't give me that "we just want a fun, casual game with friends" nonsense. You already can do that. It is called a custom game. If that is all SWF Players want they could do that 24/7 with NO WAITING. :) What they want is an unfair advantage against other people. Do you see my point?

All that aside, I play the game with the following rules:

    1. Don''t cheat, i.e. no hacks or lag spikes.
    2. .Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

In the game, I'm going to use whatever strategy or tactic works for that particular match. I make no bones about it.

Uh huh. Look up the official dbd stats on swf groups. 3 or 4 man swf survivors make up 15% of all matches, and the rest, 85% goes to 2 man SWF and solo players.

SWF has a bigger winrate, but there is only a 10% survival rate difference between solos and 4 man groups. There goes your "massive" advantage. Some people in SWFs don't even use comms at all.

And yes, there are competitive 4 man swat teams with OoO that are ultra sweaty and they do use everything to their advantage, but that probably makes up for less than 0.5% of matches. Or even less. Most people just want a casual game with their friend(s), without the need to worry that a random claudette hiding in a bush will let you die on first hook.

And lastly, of course SWF is going to play in regular queues. You can't gain any bloodpoints in custom matches, not even mentioning most people won't find 5 people to play at once. 4 man swf makes up 5% of the matches, mind you.

"SWF" is just an excuse for playing in a scummy way. Stats show it best.

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1637751#Comment_1637751

Killers tend to tunnel, camp, and Mori more against a SWF because the HAVE to level the playing field because of the 5th Perk Comms. I know, from personal experience, that against just Solos most Killers don't do that. We would rather play a less sweaty and more lucrative (BP-wise) game. We adapt to fight the SWF. We wouldn't do that if we didn't have to, and thus having the different Ques would take some of the pressure off the Solo Survivors.

So you're basically saying you resort to scummy tactics because you can't play properly against people who just want to play. a multiplayer game mind you, with their friends? Very, very sad.

You probably win 80%+ of your matches. A balanced winrate would be 50/50%. You sound like you just want to 4k every match without any effort. You also sound like the "facecamp a default meg at 5 gens" type of gamer. Play animal crossing if you want to have a casual gaming experience.

  • Try telling that to the self-care blendettes...

  • You can try to hide a bit at the beggining of the match to not be the first one hooked and you can run the ol' reliable: Deliverance, DS, Unbreakable. Should protect you from being camped or slugged compeletly.

  • Do you know what the term "assymetric game" means?

  • @DaKnight said:

Purple ranks are a joke. And the majority of red ranks are too. Red ranks, and rank 1, is not an accomplishment. It's more the bar for competent players.

I play to win every time I que up for a match. That means I make the assumption that I am going against 4 good survivors, with meta perks, who can loop, and will split to do gens. And 2-3 years ago, that was actually the case; because red ranks were not so boosted.

Now? Maybe you get a god tier team, maybe you get urban evading Claudette's who made it to rank 1 through sheer playtime. You never know. But I give the survivors the benefit of the doubt and play accordingly.

Well, you contradict yourself, then.. Just a while ago you said someone who "doesn't tunnel and camp" didn't play killer at red ranks. Is getting to red ranks an accomplishment or not?

And what you are saying is complete bull, too. Camping and tunneling only works against bad survivors, not against good ones. Good survivors will quickly realize what you are doing. They will let you camp and tunnel all you like, and because they know you are just focused on getting one survivor off of the game, then they can just push gens without anyone stopping them, leaving one survivor to die. Free 3 escapes. In truth, you just like stomping worse survivors. To each their own, Ig..

  • Blendettes usually can't loop very well, so the best counter to them is Wraith with the all-seeing and windstorm addons.

Basically when you're cloaked, you get wallhacks. Pretty neat.

  • @DaKnight said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1635916#Comment_1635916

I've always said, anyone complaining about camping or tunneling clearly has not played killer at red ranks for very long. And from your responses it seems like you have a problem with it.

Or maybe you just play a really nice non-camping Forever Freddy? Because those types of builds are the only ones that can get away playing "nice" at rank 1 against competent survivors.

You basically need a stack of gen regression perks to get a game longer than 5 minutes. Personally, I am sick of running them 24/7, so I tunnel / camp and slug for pressure instead of equipping ruin+undying or pop+corrupt alot of the time.

Jesus Christ. Are you trolling? Please tell me you are.

I play the game to have fun, not to sweat myself off each time I play a match. I main ghostface, who is not the best killer, but I somehow manage to climb up to purple/red ranks. Without moris, tunneling and camping. The only times I tunnel is when the survivor is being toxic.

And I don't want to burst your bubble, but "full rank 1 competent survivor teams" are a big rarity. The average team consists of something like 2 friends and 2 solos. And if you need 4 regression perks to play against an average team, then that means you are just a bad killer. Cheers.

Shrug. I can completely sympathize. Running into obvious smurfcomps or being utterly mismatched against people 10 ranks above you game after game is going to make you ornery.

When the game/other players abusing the system makes it impossible for you to play standard without ending the match with zero kills and deranking, then it's time to get creative.

I definietly agree, the matchmaking is horrendous. But still, you should try and play the game normally, because you will not learn anything new by camping. I can see by the points that you did very well in the second match. 29k points and 2 kills is a very good outcome.

  • Well, you were talking about searching for the profile, I just pointed out you don't need to search for anything, you can just click it right there on the screen..

  • @DaKnight said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1635797#Comment_1635797

Well, 90% of the time I am running a basement build or a mori. That definitely helps gather salt.

My favorite thing in DBD is killing someone in the basement on their first hook. It just screams efficiency to me. And Bubba is the basement king, so that's why I play him alot. I get more salt from Bubba than any other killer, even Spirit, just because he is so good at killing people in 1 hook.

Is it toxic? Debatable. I usually associate toxicity with the end game chat and not the gameplay itself. The fact is DBD survivors can finish the gens in ~3-4 minutes, so I don't consider swiftly killing people in DBD to be toxic.

You really need to go outside buddy.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1635846#Comment_1635846

Proxy camping isn't a thing. It's just common tactical sense to hook someone in favorable terrain (ie. nowhere near windows on Bubba), preferably near a gen or two and patrol around. Otherwise a good team in SWF is going to roll gens without you ever seeing them, especially when they are running OoO.

Much as it makes sense to drop a few Hag traps around a hooked survivor or try to ensure you get a 3 gen. That's just the way the game plays, and it's how most of the better killers I watch (Otz, Tofu) play.

Facecamping is another matter - but if your opponents have a clue, they'll have the gates open before you know what's happening.

You're speaking of "good SWFs"... Well, guess what? A good SWF survivor will always run away to an area where the gens are already done if he's being chased. No "tactical camping" here. Not to mention most games don't have "good SWFs", so you can just cut some slack for the solo survivors or people who play for fun instead of camping at 5 gens.

TBH I get triggered easily and even I wouldn't think about searching for the guy's profile and writing an angry comment proving to him how incredibly salty I am.

You do realise you can just click on the killer's nickname on the endgame screen and it will show you their profile? It takes less than 3 seconds

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1635811#Comment_1635811

The thing is - Bubba just works like that. He isn't mobile enough to pressure large maps against a good group, so your only real option is to hook someone in favorable terrain and try to get the game to tighten around that area.

Plus - 'camping' has come to mean 'the killer patrolled past the hook and I ran directly into him, and now I have the salts'.

You're kidding right? Bubba has been buffed, he's an actual good killer now, if you need to camp with him to get a kill then that just means you're probably bad. And looking from this guy's numerous profile comments, I really doubt he was just "proxy camping".

Yes, very non-toxic. Now how many times do you think someone has left a salty comment on my profile about DOTA or CS:GO?

If you really camped with moris or with bubba, then I'd rethink as to who is the toxic one here.

I play both sides regularly too, as a survivor you are shown and can check at any time during the trial whether there's an unflipped killer offering or not. Survivor can also be played on autopilot and being mori'd is whatever.

As a killer it's not exactly easy to notice a tiny dark object in someone's hand, especially if you're choosing perks at the last second. After an entire game of keeping in mind where you saw a crow fly away, whose scratch marks you saw on a tree, etc only to suddenly watch all your progress get wiped just like that is kinda disappointing.

Well they just did an update that changed that, now the keys are actually very clearly visible - they made them white and even glow a little.

HHa..if I find a green key in a chest, I leave it right where I found it. No sense in putting a target on my back for something that offers me little in return!

Hehe, not even little.. green keys literally do nothing without addons

  • There is a counter against deathslinger - you can pre-drop pallets. He only has 110% speed, so he has much smaller pressure... Sure, he can zone pretty well and is good in chases, but that's why he's slower than other killers.

If you pre-drop a pallet, he can only injure you, but not down you.

Now compare this to PH. Not only he has 115% speed, he also doesn't care about pre dropping pallets. You don't drop it? He can instantly M1 then. You drop it? He just uses his power to down you over it. It is PH who has no counterplay.

Edit: Whoops, didn't read the whole post. Still, my point stands

Yeah so i don't think you're playing decently.

Killer's emblems are far more hard to get than survivors lmao , as a survivor : Loop / gen rush / unhook Gg you piped without any difficulties , as a killer : Make sure they don't gen rush, make sure they don't heal but don't camp or you lose points (but how do i avoid the healing then?) , make sure you made 9 actions with the hook , make sure you've hit the survivors enough, make sure the chases are short (even tho looping is all survivors motto and its almost impossible to end a chase quick if they are not potatoes).

But yeah killer emblems are definitly so easy to get , i think you didn't reach red ranks many times or you faced potatoes all the way up

It's actually very easy to pip up as both sides. I mean survivors actually have to do all of those 3 things decently and a lot to get high emblems, while as a killer you just gain emblems for simply playing the game. I think it's you who doesn't play decently if you can't get high enough emblems as a killer.

And is touching a generator a "gen rush" to you? You really need to take a break my guy.

The spawn rate of keys is actually fairly high

Just yesterday i did the challenge of unlocking 2 chest with ace in the hole

Both the chest had keys and one even had the addon that reserved it after i died so i still have it.

I remember i was trying to farm some flashlights and got legit annoyed at how often i got keys

Alright, I checked the wiki for mathematical values. The probability of a key is 7% without plunderer's and 14% with it. Sounds like a very low percentage. Remember that GREEN keys are included.

You can bring keys as well as bring moris. There's no dodging either of them. And idk where you get the statistic of more moris than keys. I literally see keys every other game. If anything the chance of a key in the game is more than moris. 4 survivors, 4x more chance of a key. And on top of that there's chests.

Let's not forget that you now can bring offerings that literally tells you where the hatch spawns which means the chance that you use a key is significantly improved.

I'm speaking from my personal experience and I play both sides regularly. I don't see people bothering with "last second switching", no one does that. And if you can see a key in the lobby, you can just dodge it. Unlike moris.

And I'm not saying the new offerings, nor keys, nor moris are OK. They all need to be rebalanced. But moris are far worse than keys.

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 10
