Most serious people know we don't need a SWF nerf, but we need Solo buffs and then Killer buffs.

A Killer like Legion can do alright against Solo's, but against SWF he suffers greatly.

Actually what we need is for them to balance SWF without changing Perks (as that impacts Solo more). What they need to do is either:

    1. Separate Solo and SWF Ques to change the objectives to balance.
    2. And/or unlock additional Perk Slots for the Killer if/when they face a SWF.
    3. And if necessary require an additional Objective for SWF, like an extra Gen.

I'm certainly tired of playing killer at red ranks. Every team is just the most uninteractive, hold W, predrop pallets and slam gens kind of absolutely fun group that likes to win by default and flames you for daring to attempt to use a strong killer against them you filthy tryhard camping tunneling go-tale-a-shower-and-ignore-our-builds-and-playstyle.

Like, come on. Get some perspective. Of course killers are going to camp, tunnel and slug when that's what they have to do to win. Because you're certainly not getting anywhere by 12-hooking. And it's against the rulebook to play strong killers with strong builds.

Don't blame people for playing how the game is essentially intended to play. This is a game where survivors and killers can, and often only, win by default.

The problem has always been SWF. Every day the issue gets worse. There are MORE SWF and the existing ones get more practice and more coordinated. I don't disagree with a thing you said; I was saying these things four months ago when you were more on the other side of the fence. Until they balance SWF in their OWN Que or using additional objectives, or unlock additional Perks for the Killer when facing a SWF, the issue is just going to get worse and worse as time goes on and the Solo Que is strangled.

  • Agreed; this Rift should be extended at least a week due to several things, not the least of which being the Bugs. There are also those who lost time participating in the PTB. It would be a nice gesture on DbD's part.

  • Legal? Yes, somewhat. But this is America, and if he is insulting you on his stream for content, you can sue him. :) If you want to try, be aware it will be costly unless you ultimately win. Even if you win it might be costly. We are in the Wild West phase of this brand new social media world, and lots of things haven't really been put to the test in the Courts. The first time someone commits suicide because of being streamed and abused online will, without a doubt, end up in court under Cyberbullying statutes. The Law is fluid, and whenever something is relatively new it changes back and forth for decades. I suggest, if you are serious about this, you find someone to work pro bono first and get proper legal advice. Remember, I'm just a nameless, faceless voice quacking on the internet.

Theres no fun facing red ranks killers tryhards anymore to me. Its just tunneling , tunneling, camping, facecamping. Dont say "its a strategy" no, its just a selfish behaviour that have no interest except yours. I cant stand it, games after games, always the same, or worst.

I just made a second account to be resetted at ranks 20, and it was already more fun even if playing with potatoes

Dont complain players are leaving the game when you make everything to push them out

<laughs> That's funny since Potatoes Camp and Tunnel by default. I see very little of it in the Red Ranks.

  • @TTV_WAWAbyWibWib said:

If anything survivors should get a bonus for swfing like 100% more blood points per person (free streamers) or 1% faster run speed to encourage people to group up and SWF more.

Why should you be rewarded for looking for a competitive edge outside the game? I don't think so.

I have wasted my shards on the new killer Trickster who gets easily looped, there was many other better killers I could have spent my shards on. Why do they not offer refunds for killers that are just new and bad.

Let the buyer beware. It isn't as if BEhavior hasn't been transparent. The way the Killer works, everything he has, and constant review have been available for weeks. If you didn't bother looking into it... that is on you.

  • Camping doesn't hold the game hostage. The person on the hook is going somewhere fast. :) Blocking someone in an awkward corner and holding them indefinitely, where the game cannot get to the ECG is different.

  • NOED is no more unfair than any other Perk. Killers and Survivors both get their toys, and I don't begrudge either role. People who spend time blaming other Players or the game for their personal failures are deluding themselves.

  • @Negi said:

We've had one survivor, one killer chapters for the last 3 chapters and they were riddled with bugs without a new map, now people are talking about multiple survivors and multiple maps for Resident Evil? This is still the DBD devs we're talking about. Call me crazy but the last few chapters don't exactly instill confidence in their abilities.

My expectations will remain high, as long as they go BIG. We need something new and different that shakes up the Meta. Besides, their track record with Licensed characters has been pretty solid as far as I'm concerned.

  • Or instead of the sacrificed Survivors turning into zombies, some Zombie Survivor bots start on the map already, part of the Killer's power. These Zombie Bots are not going to be super effective (they are RE Zombies) but should offer a unique kind of pressure if they are malingering near Generators. More to the point, the option to beat up and kill them would be possible, allowing some offensive Survivor play. The main Monster, obviously, will be indestructible like they all are. I think starting with some and getting some converted killed Survivors would make for an interesting main power. So instead of another high mobility Killer, we have one with some interesting, dangerous roadblocks to aid in Generator pressure.

Maybe the new killers power would be to summon a horde of zombies for a short time? Or maybe even turn one of the survivors into a zombie? Anything is possible.

I just started a thread suggesting that killed or sacrificed Survivors turn into Bot Zombies. :)

  • The only sad thing about it is we will get some big monster Killer when a bunch of Zombies is more fitting. :)

I feel like these redesigned maps are way too bright and it removes all options for stealth and combined with aura reading perks every single game there is nowhere to hide. Stealth players in particular are screwed on this map.  It doesn’t look like DBD with it being so bright. Yes they are gorgeous but it is too advantageous for the killer. You can see completely across the map. It does not have much horror feeling with the sun being so bright.

If the map is going to be so bright and so easy for killers to see, then there needs to be more ways to defend against the killer such as more pallets and more loops, etc. The new lucky break won’t even help because it is so easy to see. I think the map designer needs to turn down the brightness and add some more pallets and ways to loop because its going to be too hard to survive on the farm maps. The PTB killers never struggled seeing everyone and they usually won. Maps should be darker.

What a shock, Sluzzy feels something is Killer-sided! Oh my gosh, I just got a new cosmetic for my Jake, I will need to wait with baited breath for Sluzzy to tell me how Killer-sided it is... :)

It has absolutely gotten worse in the games I play (I didn't use DS before the nerf). Killers know DS isn't that good now (pretty much everything deactivates it) and are now tunneling more. I still like DBD, but I've been playing way less because of the tunneling and camping.

If you jumped on an objective and started working it, you clearly were not worried about being chased. That means you were not tunneled. You chose to take an action that would require the Killer to come stop. Don't be ridiculous. DS hasn't changed one bit in so far as being effective against tunneling. It works exactly the same if you are using it to actually try to get someplace safe and heal up. If you are doing other things, stop blaming the Killer for your poor choice of actions.

it's not really about fabricating a story, but rather the way you worded what you like to do as though it's something special and worth doing. like you're such a pro gamer for trying to get as many pips, BPs, and kills in a match. the dead giveaway was the "all you" part for me. like you were addressing it to me as though you yourself have something to prove, instead of simply stating what you like to do with a neutral tone.

if you don't get what i'm saying you don't get what i'm saying. i'm bad at explaining things. and besides, i'm gonna get this thread locked if i keep prattling on. see you in the fog i guess.

You have me very wrong. I don't compete with you or anyone else here for that matter. I compete with myself. I'm just very direct and open when I talk about things. If you think my tone is prideful, you are correct. I do take pride in everything I do, and that includes video games. Pride has always been my favorite sin. I do think playing the game in a way that is more challenging is worth doing. At a certain point, you have to find the challenges where you can because you done the other things. When a game no longer has challenge, I vagabond on to the next one. I think that it is clear that you and I are very different people because neither of us seems to be able to perceive the other's mindset; we are utterly alien to one another.

I'm an extremely competitive person, but I strive with the only opponent that matters here: myself. I just make the assumption that the rest of you are the same, challenging yourselves and pushing yourselves to whatever limits you can find, and doing what you need to do to keep the game fresh and interesting. My natural bias is to assume other people see it the same as I do. Clearly you do not. :)

i'm playing the game and not caring about pips. sometimes i go out of my way to basically throw for BBQ stacks but for the most part i just play the game depending on how the match is going. i don't have qualms about tunneling an idiot that's trying to bodyblock with borrowed time, for instance, but if there's someone who's clearly not great at the game i'll go out of my way to leave them alone. at least, until there's them and an actual good player left. then the good player gets the hatch.

and no i don't really care about going in a custom game with you because i have nothing to prove. having pride in a 1v4 game that has so much RNG nonsense and BS scenarios that can happen (whether due to bugs, perks, items, offerings, etc) is just silly to me. especially when you start creating stories about yourself like you're cool or something.

I guess I'll just have to wait until I pull you in random matches then. I don't make up stories about myself; I'm a very literal person. If I had to make up the stories, they wouldn't be worth anything. I'll see you in the fog.

except pipping doesn't matter in a system where keeping rank is so easy. so there's no reason to care.

Again, it is a matter of personal pride. I thought I was pretty clear about that in my first post on it. I'm challenging myself to a harder match, which has the nice side benefit of giving the Survivors some breathing space. That is what the Emblems were designed to do after all. What I find "cringe" as you put it is that you did one of those cliche response to me that included the "Imagine" opening. At least be original if you want to mix it up with me. So why don't you explain your philosophy? What exactly are you doing in your matches? Or better yet, we can mix this up in a custom game if you like. I'd be very interested to see how you play.

I don't like the term but that's some hard cringe I just read right there. Copypasta material, really.

If you say so? I'm just being honest. The DEV created the Emblem system to encourage people to play more challenging matches, not to just whack the Survivors with no style whatsoever. That is why you get Killers complaining here from time to time wondering why they got a 4K but didn't Pip. You also get Survivors whining about escaping but losing a Pip. The game rewards succeeding above and beyond, not minimum effort.

I love DBD, I discovered it like a year ago and have hundreds of hours of gameplay in it. I play Survivor and Killer equally. I remember when I started off playing as Killer, Noed was the best thing ever, down those annoying survivors with one smack, it was beautiful. But the truth is, it’s such a crap perk which obviously skews balance data making kills per game look much more balanced when it simply wasn’t deserved.

I can’t count how many games have ended with atleast two kills because of Noed when the killer was doing so badly doing regular time.

It’s honestly a joke of a perk for killers that don’t have skill, honestly when I see someone is using it I roll my eyes thinking I knew this is the kind of player that would be running it. It does surprise me when better killers use it from time to time.

I will admit though the only thing which makes it a little exciting is running around the map at the end looking for the totem to break it and knowing you could get spotted, never ever fun finding out you’re the first one downed by it though.

Nothing says I'm a loser that blames all my problems on other Players and/or the game more so than adding another pathetic NOED rant to the Forum. See how I played on the title of the thread? I am feeling cheeky today. NOED is just a Perk; it has plenty of counters. I'm not going to enumerate them for you because with just the slightest bit of effort you will find everything you need to deal with it. I'm not going to explain to you why the Perk is not a statement on the Killer's skill either. There are superstar Killers who take it. There are bad Killers that take it. The Perk is useless for a gauge. What I am going to do is point out that this kind of thread, one designed to insult countless people you don't know a thing about, makes a fool out of you. For the record, I rarely run NOED because I don't like End Game builds. I rarely get there and the Perk is wasted. But if I feel like putting it in, I'm not going to pause and think to myself, "if I use this Perk some whiner somewhere is going to think less of me."

who the ######### actually talks about this game in terms of pips lmfao

Clearly I do. :) My goal, when I'm in the role of Killer, is to kill all of you and maximize both my Blood Points and my Pips. I like the Hat Trick, winning on all three levels. That is why I spend my time in the Red Ranks, with tons of Blood Points to buy whatever I want, and get 3K+ most matches. Going for all three is far more challenging, and lets the poor Survivors get some points. If I wanted to I could kill everyone in the first 2-3 minutes tops, but where is the style in that?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Much like most meta perks, BBQ aids killer efficiency and directly decreases survivor efficiency. Time spent countering BBQ = time not doing gens. Against Ruin, this means you waste even more time. Time spent not caring about BBQ = the killer wasting less of their own time to get in a chase and get you to start using resources or go down.

I don't really think it's OP, but it has a direct affect on the length of the game, unlike the vast majority of perks which are solidly in the "I could use this and potentially get value out of it 1 out of 5 games or use this and get value every game" tier.

Actually, no. Barbeque & Chili incentivizes the Killer to move far away from the hook, i.e. almost to the other side of the map to go after some Aura he/she sees for a few seconds. That in turn allows all the Survivors not a hook to shift, get back on Generators safely if they were in a locker, and/or go rescue the hooked person SAFELY. Remember Altruism is one of your Pip engines, and you are expected to do about two Generators, two unhooks/healings, and some chases to max out your advancement in any particular game. Barbeque & Chili helps you realize that efficiently, whereas otherwise you might just slam Generators and give up all that other necessary stuff, not to mention leave someone camped on the hook.

If you're waiting three to five minutes to decide if you need to play hard against a good team and they are a good team, you'll find out quick because the game will be over in about another minute or two :D

It's a big issue with Red Rank but one I'm not sure how you'd really solve. Killers are Red Rank have to go full on out right away because if they don't and they're playing a good team, it'll be over immediately. If I'm slaughtering a team because it's clear they're an average or below average team, by the time I pump the breaks on them, it's usually too late for them to catch back up (unless I play patronizingly bad just to let them back in the game, which might be even more insulting than just finishing them off; although I've done that for survivors and STILL gotten T-Bagged at the end so I'm not even sure it's worth it as a killer to worry about slaughtering them...).

I know, right? Against the Survivors I fight, the game is usually over in 3-5 if I don't play 100% all in. :)

I understand but, Bubba seems fast enough to me and downs people while chasing almost as much as any other killer yet I have seen him sit by the hook consistently. Now, you can explain away that type of lazy game play as a killer "playing to his strengths and/or understanding his weakness" but the player still has the choice to go after survivors and put pressure. He is certainly capable of this while not having to camp so close to the hook the survivor could probably smell his breathe. I am sorry, there is a reason and direct correlation as to why suiciding on the hook and DC'ing is off the chain these days and it is because of this particular style of game play. I mean honestly, we train 6 year old kids to conduct harder tasks. There is NO tactic and/or skill required to hook, then take your hands off the keyboard because you dont have to do a thing until that survivor is dead. Instead of Dead by Daylight this game should then be called Camp by Daylight. Similarly, a Wraith hooking then cloaking right next to the hook and (like Bubba) taking his hands off the keyboard because he doesnt have to do anything else until someone foolishly tries a rescue or the survivor is dead.

Like I said, this type of lazy game play (make no mistake it is lazy because it works with little to no effort) entices other survivors who are not the best at juking or looping (which should NOT be a requirement to play the game) to simply DC or hook suicide as soon as the see or know the killer is sitting there like a child so he can get that 4K. Others will say "well git guud" LOL,,,I have been playing for 5 months now and I still have not perfected looping. As a matter of fact, I watch all the "pro's" on Twitch and YouTube and even they can only loop for so long until the killer gets a hit in or downs them and they are great at the game!

Most will say "then just do gens while the killer is camping" well that is all good because you can run Kindred and see that the killer is camping. However, with Wraith another sneaky killers you cant see their aura so you have no idea and most solo survivors will now hesitate to go in for the save. This again causes other solo survivors to figure "well there goes one or even two survivors (if they went for the save) so the game is over" and they do nothing or DC themselves. At the very least, solo survivors like me who never DC or hook suicide it just makes my game entirely more frustrating for no reason then simply to justify lazy game play. I know this is happening,,,it happens every single night I play, its not isolated incidences, it is happening a lot and it is the direct result of some campy and tunneling killer mains. Maybe once all four survivors DC and a crap load of killers get no points consistently will it change.

We will have to agree to disagree. To me your posts just sound like one endless blame game, filled with biased, snide little comments like "Lazy Killers" and the like. For the record, I don't play Bubba or Wraith. :) I play both Survivor and Killer and statistically I run into the same things you do. The difference between us is that I don't seem to have problems surviving, or at least I don't seem to share your frustration when I don't.

My own advice to you, and to anyone like you is that I don't think it is possible to get truly good at this game, nor fully enjoy yourself, until you own your failures with the same passion as you own your victories. You have no power over how other people play the game. You have no power over the rules of the game. You only have power over how YOU play the game and how you CHOOSE to perceive it. With that in mind, what do you think is more productive for you?

    1. Complaining about other people and the game here, passing the buck, and lamenting obstacles.
    2. Or, studying ways you can overcome or mitigate those obstacles in the game?

I'm not trying to trigger you or be snide myself. I'm just pointing out an inescapable fact here. Forums can be useful for the odd venting session. I see the value in that, but what happens far more often is they become hive mind echo chambers and negative feedback loops. Instead of venting, you just keep going over the same ground, working yourself up into a fervor and doubling down on your own frustration. When I see that, I kind of shrug and think, "I feel sorry for that guy or gal. Why are they doing this to themselves?"

Because therein lies the rub; you are doing it to yourself. The Killer is just the Killer, and the game is just the game. If you aren't having fun playing this one, there are countless games at our fingertips at all times. Vagabond down to the next one and see if it suits you better. If you mean to stay, I want you to have fun and you aren't going to get there following your current path. You are passionately having this discussion with me, but I can't help think that it isn't really me you are trying to convince. You are reiterating your position over and over again because you are trying to convince yourself. We lie best when we lie to ourselves, and to accept what I am suggesting is to accept that all those times you died on the hook were your OWN fault. That is a hard thing to do, but I submit is it the only way you are going to get to where you want to go, i.e. back to the fun.

Of course there is one other possible option here. You might be one of those people who just enjoys complaining about things. I hope not, but it is possible. If so, I find that strange but you be you.

  • I wouldn't. I think the Perk is just fine as it stands now. The purpose of the Perk is to hide his/her aura from things that would give it away, like Kindred for example. To activate it the Killer has to stand still. It doesn't make the Killer invisible to line of sight, so there is zero issue.

What I would do is rework Distortion so that is the Survivor version of Insidious, i.e. instead of the Tokens and the way it works now, the Survivor must also stop and stand still for a certain period of time and they too get their aura hidden. Any interactions with the environment turn it off.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2111245#Comment_2111245

Yeah I see what your saying but it just makes those games really suck when a Wraith sits at a hook doing nothing else but waiting for someone to unhook to down them too,,,and then keep doing this until either survivors stop rescuing or everyone is dead. Just seems lazy to me even if you can do it maybe try to play the game straight up and pressure gens. Or a Bubba who sits equally right next to a hooked survivor, I mean like two inches from him, and keeps doing that until every is dead or players stop trying to rescue. There has got to be a better way to play simply than "just because you can".

Again, it isn't just because they can, but rather because they are not built for the other type of chase. Let's talk Killers now that can't Camp for crud, but are wonderful on the chase. Consider Spirit and Blight. These are high mobility Killers who have no trouble whatsoever keeping up Gen-Pressure because they can be anywhere on the map quickly. However, if they stay by the hook they have problems. Blight isn't good up close unless he is already chasing you on the run. Spirit's haunting is not really designed for defending a hook. Can they camp? Sure, but it goes against their strengths, and that is why you don't see it that often. I'm sure there are plenty of Players (I know there are for a fact) that complain about these two saying their Gen-Pressure is unfun to play against. :) Do you see where I'm going with this? Killers are going gravitate to the play their Powers are best suited to do. People hate Freddy too because he is not only good at high mobility, he also can camp with the best of them. :)

My point is that the Killers which seem to be the most popular with EVERYONE in so far as going against them are the ones that are generalists, i.e. they do NOTHING well. Imagine that. I, personally, have fun playing against ALL the Killers, but I understand that fun is subjective and I must bring my own. I get my enjoyment from the challenge, not the win. I don't value wins unless they are hard fought and the outcome was in question. My fun is in the fight. Far too many people seem to think the fun comes from somewhere else, external rather than their own competitive spirit. Let's talk about games for second, philosophically.

When we watch kittens play, they are having fun but they are also practicing the behaviors they will need to hunt, kill, and succeed as adult cats. When we watch baby goats play at butting heads, they are having fun chasing each other and headbutting, but the point of the game is learn certain skills. Games are practice. They are fun because of the challenge, not the outcome. Human beings, particularly adults, don't have to play games to hone any skills to survive. We play them purely for the enjoyment. That enjoyment only lasts as long as there is a challenge, because there is no other point, i.e. purpose. This is why we outgrow certain games as we get older. How old were you when you stopped playing Cops & Robbers? My guess is when you were just old enough to realize there were no rules and no real outcomes. Candyland is the same. You stop playing it the moment you realize you actually have zero input on the outcome; it is entirely random. I could go on and on. As we age, we demand more and more input, the ability to drive the outcome from our games. The desire for skill based, competitive things is all that is left.

Most people don't understand this or don't WANT to understand it. They think fun is something that can be mechanically managed or external, when it is entirely internal. You only get out of games what you put into them. PvP games are competitive, even when they are not balanced. There is this argument that DbD isn't competitive because of the imbalance issues. I say poppycock. Everything is competitive, i.e. you are striving against someone or even yourself. Fair and being a good sport only requires staying within the OFFICIAL rules of the game and being polite out of the game. If you aren't having fun because you are being camped, it is because YOU are frustrated and have decided you aren't having fun. It isn't the Killer's fault. It isn't even really the game design's fault. You are choosing to play it. Of all the thousands of games available, you chose to be on that hook. Accept it. Quit griping about other people and blaming your situation on them. You have in game options and you have out of game options. The only reason you are on that hook is because you made choices. You can choose to have fun even though you are on that hook.

I hear ya. When I say tunneling I am talking about yes killers who go a few more feet than normal from the hook (simply to whine about how they are not camping which is indeed what they are still doing) and come right back to down that player again and keep doing it until they are dead. The problem is if the solo player thinks this is going on they usually are DC'ing or suicide on the hook because honestly why keep playing when you see the killer staying near you to do this over and over again? Had a Bubba do this last night and a Wraith as well cloak simply to sit by the hook,,,I mean c'mon that totally takes the fun out of the game. This IS what makes people go SWF.

Bubba and the Wraith have powers which make camping particularly effective. That isn't an issue to bring up with those Players, but rather one that you should aim at the DEV. I'm never going to grief or judge a Player over doing the best with what they have to work with within the rules. I will, however, send my suggestions to the DEV when I think a Killer's design lends itself to one dimensional play. Leatherface's "tantrum" allows him to take out multiple people up close. However, the only way he can get a group together is during rescues. He is not a stealth Killer and thus catching clumps of Survivors out on the hunt is really a matter of them being terrible rather than anything the Killer can do. His only option to make his special power work on the offense is to take Perks which temporarily give him Stealth abilities. In short, the design of that Killer (for example) makes the Players have to work REALLY hard and go out of their way to take things they have no interest in. Is it any surprise that more Bubba types prefer to camp or use a Honey Pot gambit?

Let's consider Wraith, both before and after the recent update. He can go really fast while invisible. Great. Uncloaking, however, takes time and without rare Add-on(s) must be announced. Just like Bubba, his awesome powers are far less effective on the hunt than they are camping. If I'm watching a hook (I don't even have to be close as an invisible Wraith) I can learn to time my approach as I see the approaching would-be rescuer. I can start my movement and uncloaking at just the right time that I'm ready to attack as their unhook animation ends (or before the unhook even starts but after they are committed and in the open dead zone). Do you see where I'm going with this? Wraith simply works better proxy camping without serious Add-on toys. That isn't the Killer's fault. I'm not going to ask that Killer to work against their strengths just so I can say, "good job old chap... you are one of the good ones... for being stupid."

I submit these are design imperatives built into their powers. That is something we should be talking to the DEV about, not judging/griefing other Players for.

I have to completely and utterly disagree with you! I was a red rank survivor before the rank reset and now in almost all of my games some killer (most rank 1 prestige killers to make it worse) are tunneling and camping right out of the gate. It is so bad I am going to start to record games in one single 4 hour game play at night and post the results here to combat the "it doesnt happen that much" argument. In 10 games last night 4 of them had tunnel killer mains. I am talking going straight past other viable targets and going right for the unhooked survivor from start to finish. In the other 6 games there was two really bad campers. I am talking a bubba who stood two feet from the hook with his head going up and down waiting for survivors. So my experiences are not just complaining and/or a perception issue, there is a crap load of it going on.

Now, I have a question, as I have played this game for only 5 months, is tunneling and camping more prevalent right after rank reset. In other words, are killer mains pulling out all the stops just to get back where they were because it has been really REALLY bad in the last day or two. As a matter of fact, this causes the opposite problem in games where solo survivors are DC'ing and/or suicide on the hook when they see this. Which begs another question. Killer mains whine about SWF but they cause their own problems because I am looking for a team now simply to counter this type of game play. I have to because I am losing every single game each night and I know I am not great but I am not that bad also.

I've no idea; I can't speak for other Players. I play both Killer and Survivor. I am also a Red Rank Killer staying between 1-3 for most of a month. As a Survivor I sometimes make it down to Rank-4 (I play primarily Solo) and stay between 4-6 for the most part. The lowest I have ever gotten is Rank-3. Solo is harsh mistress. I have not noticed any change in how the Killers play right after the reset, so my gut reaction is no there is no extra impetus to get right back on the Red Rank horse.

I DO record all my games, because I want to be able to report offenses, and because I like to review things to discover what I could have done better. I do track all sorts of behaviors for my own personal statistics, and things which "actually" count as Tunneling and Camping are not near as common as other people seem to think. For one thing, Tunneling is NOT defined as the Killer choosing to go after the person just unhooked. Traditionally, Tunneling was defined as going after the same Survivor until they are dead, despite other, better options.

If you don't give the Killer better options and/or do unsafe rescues, that isn't Tunneling. That is bad Survivor teamwork. If you want to see GOOD Survivor teamwork, watch Bully Squads in action. While I find these people deplorable, they at least understand how Survivors work together to prevent any one person from being Tunneled out and killed. Bully Squads are masters at aggressive play, rescues, sabotage, stealing chases, and taking protection hits and/or trading hooks if things get that desperate. I submit, if there are teams of Survivors who can go at the Killer head on using these tactics, then the average Survivors SHOULD be able to use these same tactics in far less stressful circumstance. The very existence of Bully Squads invalidates any arguments indicating that Tunneling is commonplace. Their existence proves what CAN be done, and isn't being done.

  • Respect isn't a given; it must be earned. If you enter a game and find the Survivors don't respect you, it is your honor to teach them the error of their ways. My favorite Survivor pull is a Bully Squad. These guys do not respect Killers at all. They come into the game with one win condition, i.e. to make the Killer quit. Pulling one is like my birthday and Samuin all rolled into one. I get to teach them the meaning of the word respect.

If you don't have the chops yet to instill respect, use your matches to cut your teeth and get where you need to be.

    Howdy y'all.

I got a question and was hoping for an explation.

I just got to rank 8 and started a new game. We went against the plague. I spent the game doing gens, opening a chest, not much cleansing since we didn't want to give her red vomit.

I ended up escaping but it showed I deranked and I really don't understand why. I kinda want to assume its a bug issue, but if not someone let me know why I deranked : , )

There is a maximum amount of credit you get towards Pips for doing Generators. You also need to do a certain amount of Altruism and Chase... as well as Surviving to really max out Pips. In short, the game doesn't think you did enough.

Guess you missed the part of eating a hit to take the aggro only to be ignored.

I didn't miss it, and good on you. That is good teamwork and what is supposed to happen. However, it is rare these days. I play both Killer and Survivor. In the last month of playing Killer, I've seen one (ONE) protection hit taken by a Survivor for someone they just unhooked. In every other case they either:

    1. Unhooked with the person they are rescuing between me and them.
    2. Vanished like Ninja the second they did the rescue.
    3. Obviously are NOT taking protection hits.
    4. Obviously, for the same reason, are not trading hooks strategically.

Borrowed Time does come up now and then, but not very often. So I applaud you for doing your job, and find it unfortunate you ran into someone who went around you. However, that doesn't change the fact that MOST of the time the things people call Tunneling are nothing of the sort, and the situation is created by Survivors.

  • I submit "Tunneling" isn't statistically different now than it was before the patch that changed DS or even than it was a year ago. The only thing that is different is that it has become normalized to call literally EVERYTHING Tunneling. There was time when that was not acceptable, and when you would be promptly corrected for it. Now, not so much. Everything is Camping and Tunneling, the terms are so subjective and abused that they are about as worthless as saying something is toxic. People have become so accustomed to the constant whining drone of people scapegoating their personal failures, that we no longer correct them on it. Unchallenged, it has become normalized. This in turn leads to the "perception" being the accepted reality.

No, you aren't being Tunneled anymore than before. Survivors are doing the same unsafe rescues and poor plays as far as teamwork which leads to the same person being hit twice in a row (also that isn't automatically Tunneling either). The change is everyone seems to accept now that poor play on the part of Survivors is somehow the Killer's fault.

So, i've been doin a lot more survivor lately (Mainly to play with my fiancé) and just had this in a game. Guy won, pretty decent demo, but then instead of GG immediately goes with this. Firstly, did SOME chases (Mainly just looped around a car etc till down, chase was maybe a minute or so... Guy tunneled the poor rank 5 off hook almost every single time.

So I keep seeing posts "Looping is so boring" "Looping takes no skills" etc etc. So what is it OTHER killers really want? You want chases but the only way to really chase is looping. You dont want "Hiding" (The only time there was any hiding was after 2 people were dead, me and the feng hid in the basement real quick to avoid him and heal to full.) Just curious. I have no problem with people hiding when i'm killer. People do it all the time. (I run whispers though so...yeah lol)

There really is no winning with this community it feels. (If people aint calling me a "Furry" Because I have a Poochyena picture as my profile picture on the forums it's something obscure) just take the GG and move on =w=

I would advise against referring to Killers (or Survivors) as if they are some kind of actual grouping. Most people play both, and the kind of people you are talking about aren't representative of Killers; they are just bad sports. I play Killer (and Survivor) and the only things I want from you are:

    1. Don't cheat, either by hack or lag spike.
    2. Don't quit; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory, and gracious in defeat.

Other than that, I want your A-Game. I want you to play as you see fit and do your best to beat me. I, in return, am going to try and put you on that hook and make sure neither you nor your peers get out alive. I suspect there are a lot more people like me than there are the bad sports. Whining, annoying players who blame others for their personal failures are just more vocal and thus visible than people who behave like adults. I can't speak for all Players who take on the role of Killer, but I just want you to play hard and get whatever fun out of it you can. I'm going to do likewise, and not hold anything you do (which doesn't violate the three things I list above) against you.

  • Yep, what Freki said above is on the money. That is why I am adamant that people need to record their games. That way you can look at them in hindsight and you have something that will show (clearly) if someone was working with the Killer, or you were just mistaken in the heat of the moment.

OK so I'm gonna walk you through this.

Telling the guy to just report it isn't helping solve his problem that he keeps running into players who help thenkiller. Similarly saying don't justify or normalize cheating while good advise in general doesn't really pertain to his issue.

Maybe this could be explained better with an analogy. Imagine you have a friend who comes to you and says to your group of friends that everythime he walks home no matter what rout he takes he gets mugged by random people and how he doesn't want to get mugged.

So another of your friend says to him stop walking around with hundred dollar bills sticking out of your hat. Another friend says buy a gun and a third friend recommends he drive.

Then you come in and complain that people are not representing themselves by coming up with solutions because mugging is against the law and he should just report it and furthermore anything else that might solve his problem is just normalizing or justifying mugging. Can you see how that type of comment is both completely useless in preventing yoh friend getting mugged and alzo derailing a discussion about how he may actually prevent mugging?

You know, there is nothing I can say that makes you look worse than your posts are doing. Pulsar asked you how you would solve the problem. Please be direct and clear. What is your solution to the issue if it isn't recording it and reporting it? Your first post asked the OP if they were being toxic, which infers you think there are reasons that person was getting cheated. Since you seem to like analogies, let me point out that your logic is the same as blaming the victim of an assault, saying they wore the wrong thing, or they shouldn't have been out that late.

The only solution to cheating is to record it, report it, and not try to justify it or normalize it. The victim of cheating is not to blame. The cheater is to blame, period.

I am struggling to leave red ranks because the safety pip is to easy to achieve but i gloss over and ignore spud games while focusing on the real balance of this game. Sadly i get 3 and 4 mans more then solo players.

If i play trapper, my traps are always called out and disarmed just before the survivor i am chasing reaches them.

If i play myers or ghostface, i see survivors run for the hills from behind solid walls a good 20m away because their friend called me out from somewhere else on the map.

I play bubba and they do the 2 on gens one hooked and one waiting to save strat where no matter what i do i will trade at minimum one gen per hook and the chases are under 30 seconds including hook time. I had 5 games in a row of the same thing. Hook a survivor and see 2 obvious baiting survivors on the furthest gens and one missing.

I play nurse and blight, i get the same as bubba but not as bad thanks to nurse being nurse, and blight being fast.

If i attempt a 3 gen then survivors call it out and work on it from the start with 4 or 5 gens up and i go through the boring attrition phase where you see survivor they run away from the gens you go back zzzz

I want to play survivor but am forced to sit there for 10 to 15 minutes per lobby to get a killer that sits near the hook and be the only one doing gens.

Red Ranks are odd; as you say it isn't that hard to hold your ground, but it requires more to Pip and a hellish amount to double Pip (at least that is my experience). You have a much broader Killer spectrum of experience than myself. I focus on one Killer at a time. Context is key, and I've no doubt that my Myers preference is why I'm less passionate about Dead Hard than some. The weird thing is I find Lithe to be far more troublesome than Dead Hard, but I'm still cool with it. The Survivors get their "nice things" just like we do.

Oh so the solution to his problem was to simply not have other players do it...oh man I feel so silly I mean all that has to happen was for people to not break the rules.

Guess what vervain your problem has been solved. You will never run into the problem again because moindshroud has pointed out its against the rules...

In other news all murders have stopped as murder is against the law, and assault is a thing of the past too...

oh wait no that doesn't work I forgot because simply having something illegal does automatically stop people from doing it...I sure hope that doesn't happen here right moundshroud otherwise your solution of just pointing out itsnagainst the rules would have been a giant waste of time ...

Heh. If only I had that kind of power; your sarcasm is noted. I said you record and report. That is how you stop cheating. It also behooves us not to encourage, justify or try to normalize cheating. That encourages more cheating.

I don't know if it is.

I think there have been enough instances of Fog Whisperers doing similar things that we can say it isn't.

I think its bannable if its premeditated. Like, the Survivor messages the Killer and says "I'll throw if you let me out."

We should probably ask a mod or a dev, see if they know.

Since BEhavior has no idea whether or not private messages were sent or what is premeditated, they go simply by what they see in the video that gets turned in. If you are working with the Killer, they take an extremely dim view of it. :) But I'm all for hearing from the Mods on this.

  • Technically, I think farming with the Killer is something they frown on (even if mutual for all parties), but that isn't really what we are talking about here. We are talking about one Survivor working with the Killer to take out the other Survivors.

  • @wxnickxw said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2107844#Comment_2107844

I've seen it happen, there are matches when I'm playing a killer and a survivor will run up and wave then when I chase them the lead me to someone whose sitting in a corner near a gen that was done earlier. It's not hard to figure out why they lead me to them.

I've also been a survivor whose seen plenty of time where a fellow unhelpful/toxic player had the killer lead to them. Although I can't say I feel bad for the bad player that was being toxic got the killer sent after them its better for the team just to ignore them because now two survivors aren't helping.

My question was relevant because if his play is resulting in his fellow survivors constantly helping the killer and he doesn't want to play with survivors who rat him out then it seems like there is a solution to his problem other than quitting the game.

Sorry if looking for a solution isn't representing myself well, I suppose showing up and getting mad like you did is much more useful to him and a better representation of a good poster on this forum then?

Again, you are trying to justify cheating; it reflects badly on you. It doesn't matter how subpar your teammates are nor does it matter if you think they are "toxic." There are NO ACCEPTABLE REASONS WHATSOEVER for any Survivor to be working with the Killer. The solution is NOT to do it.

  • @wxnickxw said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/242614/survivors-who-work-with-killers

I've seen survivors help the killer more often when they want the killer to kill a fellow survivor who is either refusing to help and/or being toxic...is it possible your running into them helping the killer so often because your being a bad teammate?

Working with the Killer for any reason is against the rules and an offense that can/will get you banned if it is recorded and properly reported. Your question to the OP is irrelevant and suspect, because it seems to infer you think there are justifiable reasons when this behavior is acceptable. It is not; it is cheating. You are not representing yourself well here.

Heh. I wonder what kind of Survivor pool you assume I have? Are you implying I'm taking on Potatoes or something? :) You realize that I play entirely in the Red Ranks with Myers right? I pride myself on getting to Rank-1 quickly and staying at Rank 1-3 until each reset. Most of the people I fight are all Red Rank Survivors, and often SWF as well.

So you 3 gen with a 1 hit killer... this means you "proxy" camp as well because the hook will be in that 3 gen with a 1 hit killer.. i see why you have no issues.

If i basement bubba then i also win easily but it is so boring.

No, I said I prefer Spooky Myers. He has no Insta-Down option innately. He can't get out of Tier-1. When I do play a Maniac Myers with those options, I snowball, because a Tier-3 Myers loses the ability to wall hack. The reason I don't have a problem with Dead Hard is because a Spooky ambushes and they don't get to use it as effectively. If/when I play Maniac Myers he downs them on the first hit, and if so they aren't wounded already and thus can't use Dead Hard. In both cases I'm starting chases at the maximum speed I can manage. Spooky can get up to 120% at three Stacks (but doesn't rely on long chases), and Maniac gets up to 130% and I'm just fine with forcing them to use the Dead Hard and then catching up with them almost immediately and downing them (even if not in Tier-3).

The 3-Gen is just because if I'm outdoors with Spooky, I'm too slow to cover the entire map. *Remember I won't have Insta-Down. :)

I am getting sub 30 second chases with bubba and still can't stop the gates being opened purely from the time lost to hook and walk from the hook to the next survivor.

And you are telling me that an extended chase doesn't cause you problems?

######### me can we change survivor pools please?

None, but full disclosure, I break off chases pretty quick. If I don't think I can close them in fifteen seconds, they generally aren't worth my time. I play Myers nearly exclusively, and Spooky Myers (Scratched Mirror + Boyfriend's Memo) is my favorite build. I play that on indoor maps with an offering, and outdoor too (which I call riding the lightning). My point being that I prefer to ambush and intercept over long looping chases.

I always take Play With Your Food, regardless of what type of Myers I'm bringing, and I'm pretty good about keeping my stacks at 2-3. That means with a Maniac Myers I tend to go into serious chases at 125-130% speed. In short, I don't believe in launching attacks that aren't as close to a sure thing as I can setup. I like to Herd and get my Survivors to 3-Gen themselves if I'm playing on the big maps, although I don't get that cutthroat in the smaller, indoor variety.

The reason I'm going into this detail is so you understand my context, and why I don't give a rat's patootie about Dead Hard. It just doesn't affect my games that much because of how and who I play. I do understand that it probably does bother different Killers more. I can't speak to that, because I don't have enough experience. However, since most Killers are faster than my Myers starting out, and could easily get access to Play With Your Food, I think they could work around Dead Hard too. I know I take the Merit when I play Trapper and Demogorgon, and have found it to work really well with them. I think the speed offset is what is doing it for me.

Today I played a game as Ghostface to get a daily done, and also because I hadn't played him in a while (been busy with the Pig who I recently purchased). In said game, I quickly realized after spawning into the swamp that one of the survivors had brought Object, which annoyed me a little, but I was undetectable so it didn't really matter. I went to the Object user's location, where I also found a couple other people, a Jake and a Feng, following the Dwight with OoO. They quickly realized I was there and started running, but I was able to 99 Jake and Feng. I fully stalk Jake and chase him to the building area in the swamp and down him. The basement was right there so I hooked him there. I headed up the steps to see if I could find somebody but I hear Feng dropping down into the basement, so I followed her finished the 99 and hooked her in the basement as well. It goes fairly simply from there, Dwight trades for a hook, I get a catch on the other girl trying for a save, and Jake who had been rescued at some point, it's really all a blur, is quickly found by me because he's healing while I had Nurse's Calling equipped. I never really left the building and was called out for it by the one PC player in the group (might've been Jake, idk though). I meant to leave it, really, but every time I was about to I heard footsteps or saw another survivor. I might've left anyway but I really dislike Object users to be quite frank.

I'm not sure why you would be in doubt. You weren't hacking. You weren't using lag spikes. You didn't disconnect. As long as you here humble in victory and gracious in defeat (clearly you won), you are golden. It sounds like you played everything the same as I would have, except of course I don't do Ghostface. :)

  • I don't use a lot of different Killers, so my commentary is kind of limited in context. I find the new Game pretty, sad to go against the grain, balanced. Sure it has a RIDICULOUS number of pallets, but it is still small. It still has lots of ways to approach unseen. It has a few broken loops, but they are fortunately spread out. Overall, my performance there with Myers hasn't really changed that much. I have to sweat a bit more, but I'm still able to close the deal. Weird as it is going to sound, I prefer Gideon (the Game) over Lerys. I find I can cut people off and mind game far more effectively, pallets or not, at Gideon.

Dead hard is not fine, and you can't bait a dead hard for distance. Which is the main problem. A dead hard for distance *can not be countered*. Period. Even if you know it's coming, there's nothing you can do, and it extends the chase artificially through no skill of the survivor.

Even without the distance, why should a survivor be offered a free mulligan when they screw up a loop? The killer played better, they got in range for the hit, they deserve that hit. The equivalent to Dead Hard on the killer side would be the ability to phase through a wall, at the press of a button, with no fatigue, every 45 seconds. Survivors wouldn't have that, though. No ma'am.

Survivors who use dead hard are bad at the game. Period.

I don't know what to tell you other than I fight people with Dead Hard all the time and it has never seemed that OP to me. Every once in awhile it helps them escape, and more often than not it artificially extends a chase. I've never been too put out by the extended chase to be honest. Dead Hard is a Perk, 2nd Chance or not. Survivors and Killers both have them. And it isn't a "free mulligan" as the Survivor had to play one Perk down to use it. I've just never understood (nor shared) the passion against this Perk.

And for the record, I never run Dead Hard, just as I never run DS. I never got that consistent a return on them. My standard build as a Survivor is:

Spine Chill, Iron Will, Calm Spirit, and (Perk of the Day) depending on what I need.

1 … 19 20 21 22 23 … 81
